It's a fantastic experience and a beautiful expression of the artform...but it really doesn't try to be a game and it really plays fast and loose with game gimmicks (if anything), mocking their tedium, and then going to great lengths to justify that tedium for the purpose of setting aside the fact that it is whatever you make it.
Death Stranding is about connecting...and a part of connecting is finding out where you exist in that universe.

You can actually take a soft brush, go over the thicker smoggy areas, add transparency to it, chroma the brush and render it as softlight overlay to create a colored fog without changing the buildings and such around it, but it looks jarring, like the place was nuked by a fart bomb
