For me ED was a game of strategy

Building up my faction, mining, so on

it was a blast

I only quit due to other games taking my time, then they dropped the development ball.

However, I think dropping a non profitable element of development was wise. If a bit unfair to the console players. The issue I saw was, the older consoles it ran on, were just holding it back from evolving past a certain tech point

Which is very much a issue for some games these days

Sure ps5 and the newer consoles are fantastic, every bit as good as a pc

However, if developing for them isnt profitable enough, you can them.

Thats good business there.

HOWEVER, that being said, they screwed the game by diverting profits from ED, to other games. Only a tiny percent of the profits actually made it back into the game

At one point, they took all the profit from ed, to make another game. Which gutted Ed's development cycle.

Once I found that out, I dropped ED and frontier.

New update added Captaincy. Captaincy gives you the option to do a one time gold purchase of any of the ship types and become a captain. Being a captain lets you name your ship, customize its interior, stock the food/wood/ammo barrels with the push of a button at the shipwright, and unlock trinkets to put all over your ship. You can also repair your ship's cosmetic damage so it's not full of patched up holes, lol. Captains also have access to the new Sovereign faction at every dock, and they'll buy any loot type from you so you don't have to go wandering all over the island handing stuffy to Gold Hoarders/Order of Souls/Merchants

Can also save your ship cosmetics to your captained ship, so the next time you start a session all your current cosmetics are already applied

Being a captain makes the game so much nicer to play 😫

You know what I like NexusMods started doing? Collections.

Basically a modder can find a stable collection of mods that do whatever and put them in a collection, that then someone can say "I want a mod to have sim settlements and survival in it" in the game and instead of installing everything one at a time - They can just sign up for the collection and it unpacks the entire thing, organizes it etc and pretty much runs you through it all
