You need to load a single player game. Save it. Then try to join multiplayer.

I'm not sure how to answer that question. The name describes what it is.
A normal save is single player is it not?
Even in the instance of normal save with MP turned off.. you still could run into players.
Load that first. Save it. Then try to join a multiplayer game. That will fix the incompatibility problem.

Make sure you download correctly. On the GitHub you scroll down to Installation to click the 'latest version'. It downloads an executable file to a location of your preference. When you doubleclick the .exe it will self-extract in the location you selected. You then run the main batch file (.bat) to actually run NMSSE. Make sure you have Java 8 64-bit installed.
You select the save from the dropdown instead
(makes it a lot easier)
When doing so through the dropdown, it always loads the latest save for that slot
Best to make a backup first before doing any editing though
Just to be sure. Although NMSSE also creates backups when you made a change (folder where you installed)

Select the file tab to open file/path, then open that folder you showed me. It will then add them all to the dropdown.
You can pick the auto save or manual save yourself for each slot as well, by selecting like you did in the folder. It would however then not always be the latest

ohh
uneven (or no number) is always auto, while even is always manual. Each slot has both (usually). save and save 2 are slot 1, save3 and save4 are slot 2, save5 and sav6 are slot 3 etc.

When sharing saves in a report to Hello Games, it is best to create a package/archive of the full folder shown for your platform above (.zip/.rar).
I would suggest to just copy the full HelloGames or NMS or whatever folder before all the saves, that way you get them all. They are not all that large anyway. Just make sure to save them somewhere that makes sense, like ...\NMS\Backups\<date>\... the copied folder

Currently pretty much all mods are broken due to the update (usual thing that happens after new releases). Just for the white pulse lines, I am not sure. Might have to make one yourself or ask nicely. Could try the NMS Modding discord.

how do you customize your ship model in nmsse?
That would require adding model parts specifically, including data that comes with it, like colours, etc., not all that easy to do if you are new to it. If you just want a different ship type, instead of custom parts, it is already a lot easier
but can you tell me how to do it? (using any method, not just nmsse)
I know how, but I do not know all the part names and paths to them. This requires me to do lots of research in the source files to locate those. Once you have the part names and paths, you can start to do some raw JSON editing. There may be some info out there on Reddit. Alternatively you could try ask for help in the Modding Discord I linked above

Look at the Palette names, those are colours for the parts used. Not sure you can freely mix parts from different types of ships. It sure will require a bit of work doing it through save edits

I'd search Nexus Mods and see what's available. No guarantee it will work currently if you do find one, as mods are mostly broken until updated.

no not from different types of ships, but from the same types (eg, the sailers have 5 types of wings, 5 body types, and 5 wingtip types, I want to be able to mix and match them)

- Updated items list and name mappings for NMS 3.85 (Outlaws)
- Added new Cargo inventory for ships (named "Inflated Sacs" in living ship).
- Added new ship type: Solar.
- Additional items / twitch rewards / etc
I still need to figure out the wingman structures and how they work in the game, so please be patient on that one. Also, the name mappings have not been completed, but that shouldn't affect you using the editor.
With regards to Solar ships, as far as I can tell, there is a new technology that is required for them to work: "Vesper Sail"... you should be able to change a standard ship type to Solar and add the technology, and you'll be good to go.

Saw something interesting while helping someone setup their squad in save editor. It appears solar ships are using the custom color type code on default ships. These palettes were not added by the user

Yes, just text files. If you want ship hyperdrive upgrades of class X, go to Ship, UP_HYPX.csv
Then view raw
Third column is 'Perfection', so you can search for 1.0 or .9 to find the best ones
And you don't need to edit the JSON to change the seed. Just double-click on the upgrade in the GUI

I'm trying to test all 3 modes of the binoculars/scanner. Normally I can get 2 modes...normal (blue) and mission (light blue). There is a 3rd orange type color for mission objectives. What is the easiest way to have that available for testing? Like I need to be on a mission that uses it so I can see all 3 at once.

What I said was all wrong lol. Okay I can use the "Analysis" mode (normal mode) and the mission one (which says Ican't use right now cuz not on mission, but I can see the filter/mode). Apparently I can't use the one that does hotspots...the normally orange one.

I have no idea. At first I thought that the game had races coded as they're shown in game (Korvax, Vykeen and Gek) but they're named as Explorers, Warriors, Traders
there's also Diplomats (travellers), robots (which i'm guessing are sentinels) and Special, who are the guys on the Anomaly
Now I don't understand how exactly these categories work
if you switched them via the NPC spawn table it's prolly safer
but the player character still uses a p different entity than NPCs
so it's bound to be a lot more weird if you don't change out the entity\

This is a complete personal thing but it'd be cool to have a mod that adds in Starbound's music into the game. I always thought that game had beautiful music when exploring planets-
NMS music is procedural. It’s not complete music tracks.
Not sure if starbound is but it would be almost impossible given that the mixer is in the exe.
That is an interesting fact about No Man's Sky music.

There are a few complete tracks but most is procedural. It takes a lot of work. Have to make a bunch of single instrument tracks and make them all sound good together and be able to pitch bend, stretch, invert etc. all while sounding right together.
Then all of them have moods. So that they are triggered at right moments and with another similar mood piece.

@vale iron IDK if im dumb and put the wrong file, but for the scanner mod you just updated, I picked the 'scan' mod file only (for scanning time being shortened), yet my ship and multitool recharge the scan instantly now
You used the right file, it's just that the ship scanner is included in the scan file. If you want to remove it, you'll have to edit the LUA to comment out those lines.

depends on how many changes are made it can easily take up to week or 2, then ofc mod author has to find time to update
sometimes we also improve our scripts might take additional time too
but you can somewhat assume that a lot of mods will be updated coming days

you start by using the BNK Loaderfrom the modding discord
manually listening to each audio until you find the right audio
or if it has a name, narrowing it down with a search
then you use Eti's BNK replacer to replace the wem inside the BNK

Just disconnect your internet connection - you don't have to have an internet connection active to use Steam - it'll just throw a couple complaints at you, but it'll still launch anything you have installed locally.
You can boot steam in offline mode too

There are a bunch of people saying my color mods are fine and working, but NO they might not crash the game but they are missing new palettes for the sail ships and other things. There is code all over the place that is new. Anyone using old files has a very good chance of missing code.

There is a new section in the palettes at the bottom for “SailshipSails”. It’s inactive in the palettes I’ve been through so far (as I expect) but should be active in the basecolorpalette. Haven’t got to that file yet. I assume it’s using whatever palette for the ship body and this would be for the sails only.
I’m kinda back and forth here testing and updating so forgive me if I take a minute to answer something.

Haven’t got to the basecolorpalette to confirm yet. From what I’m seeing so far (small sample), the object files and texture.mbins seem to be header change only.

psarc can be used to turn lua files into pak mods and not just mbin files correct?
PSARC just makes the PAK file. You need to run it through AMUMSS first to turn the LUA into an MBIN (which also automatically does the PAK part)

Oh, okay. Yeah I'm mostly talking about MOD_DUD_Asteroid_v3871. There are issues that happen past that distance, so that's why it is limited to that.
Lo2k's version might have further distance? I don't know of any other.

Set the mission as active in your log, save the game, load NMSSE, go to Edit -> Edit Raw JSON, look for PlayerStateData\CurrentMissionID. Once you have that, go up two to the MissionProgress folder and search for that mission ID. Alter the Progress setting for that mission until it does what you want. I recommend stepping it back (lower number) and redoing parts of the quest, rather than stepping forward (higher number)
