I really need to be told which pieces are disabled
preferably with screenies
cos I don't play the game enough to know vanilla pieces
we're talking about all the wood/concrete/metal basic parts
they're all disabled now
ok those are easy to search
i just dont see why they disabled them instead of improving them along with the new parts it would just make base building even better
imagine the variety in bases if we had all the new parts and the old parts

Yes, you could basically do the transfer first, so you have a new Steam save. Then you check the bases first to make sure all are good. Then you go back in-game for GamePass and delete there through the base computer. Then back in Steam to upload the new copies

Make sure to backup before doing anything you may regret later:
Backup saves, backup GCUSERSETTINGSDATA.MXML
We used to have just 5 slots, with each slot having 2 saves (auto and manual)

With Steam, each save also comes with an addition mf_.... to make each save a pair (steam metadata file)
and they all show the wrong save date

they ALL say "modified 8:46pm", but I saved and closed my game like 10 minutes ago, which was 10:15pm

You can name your mod anything as long as it uses valid characters for a file name.

Sounds like the editor may require an update. Are you using NomNom or NMSSE?
Modding files themselves require to keep their correct names, as they are basically edited/altered
So if you change BASEBUILDINGTABLE.MBIN for example, you have to keep it that name after having made changes
Then turn it back into a .pak of course as the actual mod, which can have any valid name you wish
If I want to change localisation file, can I threw away anything I haven't changed or NMS mods works just as file replacing?

Localisation/language files. You unpack, then decompile, then make edit to the language file you need by replacing only. Once done, recompile back to MBIN, then pack back into a .pak file (mod) to put in the MODS folder

It is not specifically made for backups, although it does create backups. I personally prefer to make my own regularly, and including the GCUSERSETTINGSDATA.MXML as well

You select a save, then to the right you see platform transfer. You choose a destination and need to click the tiny icon for actual transfer

Like I said, browse to the correct folder manually after selecting 'File' (top left) > 'Open' > 'Save Path' and browse there manually

because save files for NMS have the .hg extension
It doesn;t show the save files themselves when browsing for the folder to use
you select the folder though, which then shows the files back in NomNom

Burryaga — Today at 22:12 If you have Steam, saves do not work the same way as of Frontiers. Your saves have been updated to the new format, and their backups are somewhere mentioned in the patch notes.
Well, in your case, you need the Game Pass saves as save path, to then transfer to Steam platform. But can you at least show me if it detected the Steam saves?

however the gamepass version my saves wont load so the game freezes when i try to select my save meaning there is probably a bug with it
Forgive me for butting in but...this might be a different bug. Try creating a new save first, then saving, quit to menu, then load the save you intended to load.

@vale ironI am having trouble expanding base limits: at 763u from the base computer the EMG I put down does not seem to let me keep adding to the base (and I need to go farther). Could Frontiers have reduced the maximum base range?
Even though I'm close enough to the power hotspot for the EMG to produce power, I can't get to the power wire (the only build menu I get is the portable). This is after I save-and-reload to get past this type of bug from the past.

For reference, once I walked back toward the base I could get the full menu up again, and the magic distance seems to be 750u: the only base part out here is an EMG further out (but I'm in its local base part range limit). With the full build menu if I walk away from the base past 750u or so it says "Too far from base" until I retreat again.
That's strange since it's farther than the default, but not as far as the mod distance
And while I can build from that position (as in the EMG further away) if I'm beyond 750u when I start up the base editor it only gives me the portables menu, even standing next to the EMG in the base beyond 750u.
yah, I'm using vanilla (no mods): I'm concerned the default max range has changed to 750u radius (1500u diameter) bases...

Also the new build menu makes it harder to expand bases because you used to be able to have the build menu up and walk back toward the base, looking at it, until it would flip into the full menu. Now you can't do that.

AFAIK, those are just backups of the previous save files, before the game converted them to the new format. Editing them shouldn't change anything.

People who used Exosolar's Beyond Base Building should know:
So for those of you who are like me and wanted to finish off some builds that now use the "Legacy" metal but retexured to rust/stone. If you have already placed some parts down in that build of the right colour, you are in luck.
What you have to do is:
-SAVE incase you mess anything up.
-Go into build menu and open the Legacy tab.
-Push C to go into edit mode
-Pick up an old part with left click and place it back where it was. (it will clip back in place at a slightly different height than before. Take that into consideration when you pick up the part. It will be a couple mils out.)
-Then push E to cycle through the menu. The parts you are cycling through will have the same colour/texture as the part you picked up. If you did not start from the Legacy tab in the build menu you will end up cycling into which ever tab you had opened before hitting C
-Recolouring an already placed part will keep which ever texture you had placed on it.
So how do install mods? like Shorter_Settlement_Timers-2056-1-0-1630610435?
there is .pak file do i just put it in the binary folder?
You put it in ...\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\MODS... if that MODS folder is not there, create one yourself.
Do not use the other MODS folder you find
Also remove the DISABLEMODS.txt
or rename if you wish

it extends 300u around the computer
Most likely it works like base computers near each other where the default build radius (300u) is also how far away you need to be to drop another computer. That means you'll always have to do base expansion to get into the settlement
so it wouldn't reach the settlement (it'd be right on the edge)
You can expand the base, by default up to 1000u

Yeee! I created my first mod for NMS. That not the mod I first start with (I still not end it), but it works XD. That's VR-mod-disabler. What interesting, when I just download existing obsolete mod, it HAS lua script and even do what written in it, but it haven't work somewhy. I just looked at the script, made what it write and it works LOL
weird, mods are broken right now for VR. When it opens the mod warning, pressing any key on my controllers or keyboard cant get past it. No problem when I launch with PC. Anyone got an idea how to get past it or will I need to wait for a patch?
I didn't have the issue before frontiers, and pressing a key on my keyboard would let me continue.

Give it a few days for the noshake mods to be updated. The modding tools are still being updated for Frontiers.

Yee, having it all packaged into one .zip is convenient and saves time. Including this simple fomod folder in the archive allows Vortex to see that and people using Vortex will be able to choose which option they want to use as seen above in my ss.

Hey everyone so I bought the game on Steam and I installed a mod, would like to know if someone can assist me on something I may not understand lol i unlocked the untamable pets mod, but I can’t seem to tame some of them. They are just hovering half above and below ground (still moving but not going anywhere), and can’t interact with them, so no taming and no scanning either. Inventory rebalance looks like what I’ve been after since the update (something to increase stack size)
The other stack mod I used caused problems with the story (it prevented me from receiving timber building blueprints for some reason)
