Very unlikely, a lot of mods were broken with the 2.2 update
Exosolar has a lot of colour variation mods as does Jasondude; Synthesis Fantasy by Redmas changes the way planets generate to a certain degree but it'll make your game look different from other people if you want to play online, whereas the other ones keep the generation normal so the game is still similar enough for multiplayer purposes. @formal flax
These are the ones I've tested on my game and all are functional on the current steam release.
(with some GeForce modifiers) this is an example of Exosolar Stratos
(with Geforce modifiers) this is an example of Synthesis Fantasy

@twilit dove IDK if the save editor still works, but that was how I added more tech slots to my stuffs.. but if I remember correctly, I think I had to copy/paste stuff around inside the json editor..
Collision is kinda buggy on it at the moment due to it not being convex I think

I would like to try the fantasy mod on a new save, but not having it activated on my old save. is this doable?
just don't load your old save with the mod enabled; keep a copy of DISABLEMODS.txt and switch it in and out when you want to activate/deactivate it

I was using the essential pack, then I found that I want to do without some mods so I installed individual ones, and now my game won't recognise any mods at all.
I had the disable mods txt renamed, gonna try to just remove it altogether now

Hi everyone. Is there any way to change maximum of base elements viewed in game ?
I tried to build something huge in game, 41500 base elements .. But after building about 6500 objects i realized that 15-20% of base elements not displayed in the game ..
maybe there is any way around these limitations ?

They exist in game, but not rendered, like if there's some limitations on how many blocks can be viewed at a time

Nexusmod has everything you need for nms mods
I recommend the essential pack, even if you just look at the mod list in the essential pack and get individual ones separately
One thing you wanna know without knowing how to mod merge is that, if you prefix mod file names with underscore, they take priority. More underscores, higher priority

It'll take some trial and error to see which ones you actually need to prioritise. You can start with same priority to check. In my experience Gumsk's Gameplay Globals needs to be on highest priority if you want to use it. If it's the same priority with anything else it just become non-existent

Thats what I mean. And you can aslo use entity to entitx communication (broadcasting) and such things

- Custom NPC's: Yes possible, you can create new models with the blender plugin and add them to the game with custom sounds. For the animations you need to use some tricks
- Better AI: You can add more clever speech texts and options of course. Letting the npcs react to the player can be done via trigger gcplayernearby or beenshot event e.g.
- Better generation controls: Yes possible, see shaidaks generation e.g.
- More planets per system: See "GenerateForcedNumberPlanets" in GCSOLARGENERATIONGLOBALS.GLOBAL.MBIN
what about custom upgrades? I saw someone trying to work on it but at the moment he's having trouble with making upgrades that straight up "disable" the hazard shield from depleting
Once again none of these allow to add anything new other that copy pasting existing stuff and changing values in them

@thin viper you can do that but noone takes the effort. It's a small modding community. You can force a walking animation on npcs and trigger a walking direction or animation change (like dealing with ipad) either timed or when reaching a specific position. Randomizer is possibly by a superposition of several state change timer scritpts that trigger animation changes

I don't quite understand the mods yet. what is it like when i download mods but want to play with my girlfriend? we both play on normal but want more variety in the planetary generation. heard in multiplayer it could crash if another player visits the "custom planets". Are there problems if we both use the same mods or just one of us? Tyvm

both of you should use the same mods, and you'll see the same modded content
if a non modded player visits that planet all that happens is they will see you walking on air mining invisible things
I would avoid planet gen changing mods because when they break due to updates it may happen that your base is in the ground or air. One exception are mods that use amumss lua scripts like shaidaks generation because these will with high probability be updateable easily with a few clicks and are more future proof.

Well, forming the finalized panels design was 95% of the work. Making a bunch of alt versions after that was cakewalk by comparison

The photo mode wont show proper names for a bunch of them though like you said but I think most players understand that stuff like that can sometimes happen when we cheat the built in limits
I can rename them for photo mode. You can change the names in the language file. That's how I made the storm filters available in photo mode and say "Frozen Storm" etc in photo mode.
In that case I think you're basically golden

A few filters like the BINOC filters dont land in the table
that's the thing. It's (i'm very new at making dds stuff) weird like it has many layers and I don't understand the layer weirdness and there are many many types of these filters....trying to find the right type was already hard LOL
Im pretty sure those filter files are pretty much using industry-standard concepts so it may be helpful to look up graphics filters info that is actually about entirely different games

That wouldn't be a mod, that would be a dev-made game overhaul lol (there are some mods that aim to reduce load, but lagspikes still happen)

I use paint net to make textures that are in that odd new DDS format that NMS uses. Because itβs the only thing (with another weird plugin) that I found could make them.
It has been such a long time since I last played

Stretch goals, I would love to throw out and replace the sand and sub-grass textures because they're awful

so im just starting to get into modding
in nms here, and i have a simply goal that ive halfway accomplished...essentially all i need to do, is have my freighters guns do damage and ill have accomplished it...if anyone knows how to do that off the top of their head i would be grateful
I would try this. Look into the damage and projectile tables somewhere in the metadata folder. THen look into the freigter entity too.
been staring at the turret files and it looks like its linked to a xml file, but i cant find the xml file
freighter files have nothing linked to dmg
probably a flag or something in here thats set to say dont do damage unless its a player
set the freighter to be classified as a player projectile
hopefully that will let it do its true damage

When I was going through all the files for the models I'm pretty sure in the mat file there was a toggle for lighting set to false..but I only looked at one vehicle and I dont actually know if it would help

File format? MBIN, DDS....maybe thatβs it.....not real sure never messed with fauna. There are things dealing with fauna in many files all over the place.

I made those filters try to be βnaturalβ or βplausibleβ for the biomes, but if you ever wanted to make some let me know and I will try to hook you up with software (free) links and tutorial you or something. There is a lot of potential there. There are 13 photo filter slots and you can do some crazy crap with filters.

I made a filter just to see how weird it could get and shifted hue on all colors to a random hue and used super high contrast then shifted the colors to be βneonβ like, so that it was pitch black with neon edging on all objects. That was weird to walk around in.

Let me just throw my hat into the ring here. I'l like to present to you a mod of my own. Nothing special but I hope if you give it a shot you'll enjoy. Right now I know it is compatible with Cave Improvement mods by JustSpaceThings and with some tweaks it is usable with exosolars grass and redmas' fantasy biomes mod as I have integrated both of those with my personal version of the mod. This version though I feel adds some great things, improvements to clouds, animals, characters, terrain, Flight and sentinels. Enjoy and let me know what you think if you give it a shot.

i have found mbins that contain model data but cant make it readable for blender since it's all ascii

Have you messed with sun size? I never got results I wanted with it, but I didn't do much testing.
Hmmm maybe variations in the ....god what is that called...the speed that the sky color blends, or horizon colors?
@steel crypt What I did is allow the true sun to appear. In other words, if that star systems actual sun is giant (like through using Expanse), then it will be visibly the same giant star from the ground, too
its actually one of my favorite aspects of Stratos that almost nobody even realizes π

If anyone wants to play with these, here are mods for them. It will make your default filter like in the pics, so go to a lush planet and it will work. Remove the mod after you throw up and all will be normal again. I don't have a pic of redHell, you'll just have to go see it.

Basically just uses a folder as a central storage location..and then when you pick what mods you want to load it deletes anything currently in the pcbanks mod folder and copies the new ones in

Game files show that, even during expeditions of any of the four specialist types mentioned above, expeditions will randomly include occasional encounters of other types, which means that all expedition fleets should avoid leaving extreme weaknesses in any stat.
Every mission is composed of multiple "encounters" each of which has a 30% chance of being different from the specialization

The Frigate types seem to correlate to the dominant race of the system much like starships
@hushed bronze looked at the terrain textures. Mind blown. Way beyond my level right now. I might be able to edit it and save it properly, but that's a big if. I don't have the skills to make the normals which I think they are using for tessellation.
I'm having some issues saving it properly. It's like it's not a standard format. I think gregkwaste made a manual import emporter for them but he is hard to get ahold of. Even so, it would take a dude good at making textures to make new ones.
Yeah I had heard a while ago that terrain textures were super weird even for people who understand the standard practices and creation methods for normals and all that
@hushed bronze I think...Don't some of our tools have the means to create lists of .pak contents, so .mbins, which might allow one to get a quick overview of whether same files are being modified across mods?
I want to say there are some .bat files working with psarc.exe that do that for the core paks in PCBanks, which with some slight tweaking might also work for mods

The only thing I've ever had against Stratos is I can't summon my freighter into low orbit anymore. I like seeing that thing fill up the whole damn sky.
Also Im making new stratos without enviro globals rolled in so it will work with a lot of the other mods that it didnt before

The source of the info came from that MBIN file. I dont have the game on PC (I'm a PS4er) so I dont' have access to these files. I was hoping to get that file and do a bit of digging and draw my own conclusions
well you wont find that in text but I can give you the biome files. Theres loads of deprecated data though that you cant tell is deprecated by looking

After the update, the game can't launch with a stack multiplier mod. I heard that like no stack multiplier mods work now. i tried just two and it indeed didn't work with them. Anyone knows any working Stack multiplier Mods?

I'm not sure this is the right place to ask. I've discovered two of the mods I'm using are incompatible with the rest and they both edit the same thing- which none of my other mods seem to (I could be wrong about this). They both edit different lines in NMS_REALITY_GCPRODUCTTABLE
I'm not really sure how to go about fixing it, though. I'm new to all this but like to learn my way around adjusting mods to my tastes
At this point I'm at a loss. I see the relationship between the problem mods but I don't know why they can't change they file or how to make it so they can. So any assistance, or even pointing in the right direction of where I should ask, would be appreciated

It's a very easy application to work with, choose your lua file you want to use to create a mod of.
Put it in a modscript folder.
press buildmod.bat in the apps root folder and your completed mod ends up here. But yeah if you not comfy with the app just @ me and I will try to help you. π

Satellites would drop out of orbit in a day at that level lol π
but like, I remember back in the day there was a glitch that allowed you to summon your freighter really close to the planet when you flew to it with pulse drive and pressed summon right as it automatically slowed down when arriving to the planet

Although I had to change the StickLook angles to 120 because 180 seems to allow you to swing the camera past what I would consider 180 (looking straight back) which annoys me.

don't save it. Open up the old save with the save editor linked above you and see if the progress is still in there?

@quick ether The environment thing was a joke,. but the bases built with Beyond Basebuilding should appear normally to others online, since it only edits the rules your editor follows in placing items, and does not fundamentally make any changes at all to the objects themselves.
Base mods that break online viability typically add new parts that an unmodded online player cannot see because the saved base data would reference part names that don't exist normally without the mod, for example
@waxen cedar Thats only if the mods change the terrain or the planet type (which can change terrain just because some types have different terrain options inherent to them)
Many mods like sky color mods or rain-behavior-changing mods would do nothing in that regard

I used it previously, like 9 months ago and it worked fine. I mainly just use the No Pause on Loss of Focus, but for some reason its not working
So, there's a texture flashing around in my field of view when I'm running in first person, looks like a part of the backpack refiner. Is there a mod that fixes this?

Have dug, no luck so far. Just trying to save myself some time before I go digging into the game files.
TBH a lot of people have issues with the portable doing buggy things, so it might be a better option, time-wise to just rely on it minimally and use base refiners more often than not
It is a pretty likely target for bugfixing in upcoming updates too, because the portable refiner is new

It's just regular old NMS with a different coat of paint, really. It has "improved visuals" which I feel are already done better by other, smaller mods. It has a "new" exocraft which is basically a nomad that looks like a nautilon. You have options for different starter skins which become redundant as soon as you get to a space station. It's just... a lot of unnecessary junk, really.
I mean if you like the way it looks, go for it. Just don't expect it to radically change how you play the game.
