the story has no actual consequences

I have completed the Expedition (which I don't think is a requirement).
Hence, I have obviously recruited a ship to my squad (I don't have a full squad).
I've been Pulsing around in a non-outlaw normal system for about 30 minutes, have had a lot of Traders & even found a black hole...but the mission hasn't presented itself...if it's just more time to pulse, I can do that, but am I missing something?

Based on the information that's in the Wiki, and after discussing the topic with another community member:

"The "Friend of ..." titles are not available as of the Sentinel Update. They were added with the Desolation update, but never available for purchase."

Never been legit available. They added a whole bunch of titles all ready to be added to the shop at will, which they have done reasonably regularly since. These titles are not really being added in any specific order. They just add a few every now and then and can be any 'SPECIAL_TITLEXX' it seems. With how regular updates have been and with how many other 'special' items we have been getting, titles have become somewhat less common. Seems very likely they will all eventually be added. With some I can see them part of an update/expedition/event as well.

Ps. You can still obtain titles via a save editor if you're on Steam PC.

At some point in the story, after returning to your starship after your first Atlas encounter, your character feels sick and there is an option to throw up. When you are going to throw up your exosuit stops you from doing this and eliminates your sickness.

For real? I cannot remember that. All I can remember is me answering questions and then the game goes whatever way it wanted to go anyway. (So my answers don't impact much). And at this point I am of the opinion that I am just a simulation and that Atlas created us like we write code. So what does it matter anyway what I answer anymore. Like, I think I am nearing the end of the story and my character is totally depressed now.

It was almost as if there was this machine that ran a program (atlas) and this program over time would accumulate garbage data so to speak, such as the pirates and rebellion and even Artemis. Perhaps atlas itself wrote us in as its system wipe, and technically created a data back up in us through the experience.

The "weakening the fabric of reality" thing is largely delegated to background lore. It is said that taking a Gravitino Ball creates a small instability in local reality, which sentinels respond to.

Presumably, cultivating your own Gravitino Host at your base does not cause this interference, which is why sentinels won't attack in that instance.

About this, do the agriculture mission and there is lore about sentinels and gravatino balls.

If I remember correctly, there is a theory that wherever Sentinels go, Gravatino balls follow. That maybe they live in symbiose and that the sentinels take the seeds with them (maybe without realizing???) and take them to other universes. A bit like how birds eat seeds, fly away and poop out the seeds. Then the seeds/plant starts to spread. That's what I remember my farmer tell me 😄

Yeah, if I read correctly. There are 3 theories that the farmer talk about. 1. Blood of sentinels acting as the seed. 2. Gravatino balls indicate the beauty of a planet worth protecting. 3. Host / Drone acting in symbioses. The third theory reminded me of Darwin because of: "[name] was apparently laughed out of their Botanical Society for this claim". So the person behind 3rd theory got laughed at. I haven't encountered any lore (yet) about the ball being a parasite. I only remember the farmer since I did it last week.

All by all, I found it an intriguing piece of lore.

I’ve been thinking, what if part of the reason the Atlas has allowed things like the Abyss to persist and screw with the simulation to such an extent is not only due to general apathy about its impending doom, but also as a means of potentially finding its own way to cheat death somehow?
