Must be a Vulkan disruption in the time-space continuum, displacing the quantum reality locators with randomised characteristics... or something
@white phoenix hardly, not on the experimental build.... 😉
Yeah, I think this has been happening for a while now...
Does anyone have a screenshot if a portal address that leads to the inner ring of the Hilbert dimension? (2nd galaxy)
Like innermost layer of stars, I can find the portal address for the closest stars inside the first galaxy if anyone wants it, I just have to hit up the base and track down the portal
000000000000 will be near the center of any galaxy. It'll error, then redirect to a nearby valid system. Can't warp out from a portal address tho.
Make a base and a transport portal where you've landed, then go back, hop in your ship and use the space station to go to the new base. You can still call your freighter too which is nice
When you say 0000 you're talking about the first of 20+ glyphs right?
You can't build a base on the other side of a portal anymore. And yes, the first glyph of 16.
and @uncut harness just an FYI, when you use a Portal to visit another area of the Galaxy you cannot;
- use the Galaxy map
- warp to another system
- build a base
- call in your freighter
- the station you visit in the system will not appear in your station teleport list
To stop people portalling right outside the centre of the galaxy? To keep hyperdrive upgrades relevant?
Possibly the most obvious "problem", to stop people building stuff on event planets.
On the planet sure, but why not allow them to explore the region of space? Unless the event planet/system does not really exist in the galaxy, only in the story narrative ...
That would need a more robust system for adding a new planet or something. All the people building stuff may just have highlighted something that was broken all along.
simpler solution would have been to make it so no one could build a base within say 5000u of the portal .... problem solved. And then the portals could then still be used to access other areas of the galaxy and you could then go explore that region without all this endless jumping which to be fair if a better alternative is not in Beyond then I won't be playing much.... I get enough of a jumping fix in Elite.
I think it's fine to restrict portal travel as just temporary visits for earlier-mid gameplay. But I think unrestricted travel should be available as an "endgame" reward. Actually I'd add a required 3rd questline to the Atlas Path & Traveller ones to get that prize: you have to reach the center the hard way.
Yep I would go along with that, and on top of that its a really good idea. And I am in the process of doing it, the hard way, on the xbox... the Freighter I want is in a system about 49000 Ly from the Core, did the trip on the PC now it's time to do it on the Xbox and grab myself a lovely white freighter 😉
beyond will change so that NMS lives right?
so i dont know if this is really spoilers but i just recovered after resetting the galaxy at the atlas without going to the galactic core. i have my ship and items like i should but my base, stations and staff are gone with the new galaxy. is there a way to get these back? is that what the remembrance does?
I think the answer to that is no...
i probably wasn't prepared to do that huh...
Yeah... Maybe reload a manual save, if you have one, or backup if you don't.
well i'm way past that now. too late to reload. all the essential stuff is repaired tho and im setting back up bases on hot and radioactive planets for those exclusive resources before making a nice base somewhere else. my old concern is that it says the farmer (id assume thats what i'm being led to) is 400,000 LY away, which is pretty out of my range
If you make new terminals, you'll be able to summon the NPCs by interacting with them.
oh wait nevermind, interacting with the agriculture terminal spawned him in... :/
yeah what you said
ok so not as bad as i thought. thanks for the clarity there :D
So I'm on the final story mission. What Galaxy am I sent to if I choose to reset the atlas?
You'll get a choice.
If the player chooses to reset the simulation, they will be given a choice of what kind of galaxy will be created next. The four options are Lush galaxy (green), Harsh galaxy (red), Empty galaxy (blue) and Norm galaxy (teal).
Okay. Thanks for the help.
No problem.
oh so i picked red and thats why every planet is scorching, radioactive, freezing or has aggressive sentinels?
and what is empty galaxy exactly?
Higher chance of dead planets.
oh cool
do i really need to do the story?
hey guys how do i get the hyperdrive blueprint?
you unlock it by doing something then heading to the station i believe
Base something, I think.
base computer archives
Wega borad
What are these atlas seeds fot
For
Everytime i go to an atlas station it gives me a recipe for them but doesnt tell me what to do
It leads to the end of a plotline. Think seed, as in RNG seed. ||If you give the final seed to the Atlas, it offers to create a new star with it.|| Though ||IMO that's bull, since it doesn't actually create this new star. How could it? It would fuck with the procedural algo.||
@brittle bone have you actually ... ||birthed the star|| ?
A while ago, when the quest was first released. Why, has it changed since then?
Not that I know of as the process just gives you an ability, that's all I was just wondering if you had done it...
I posted a list of references to Beyond in the current game to reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/brp5az/references_to_beyond_in_current_and_previous_nms/?
noice
Very nice, thanks sanser 😉
No prob
I just think it's cool that this might be the first major update we get that was actually referred to specifically in game
and from way in the beginning too
https://youtu.be/OqFm2voOBdk?t=375 "and there is a game beyond that"...
Some old youtube video talking about the center of the galaxy/endgame
I think Beyond might be about the journey to the center... and "the game beyond that"
hopefully things getting crazier, etc
@rough copper tbh changes to the journey to the center would be among the remaining elements mentioned prerelease that have yet to be addressed, so here's hoping maybe they do something with that
as long as it doesn't get rid of the multitude of other galaxies, that is
that would be really neat if the journey to the center of each galaxy was somehow different.
oh god i hope not, then i'd have to start over just to make sure i didn't miss any
Adding progression elements as you got closer to the center would be huge
am just wondering because i asked in the other channel but didn't want to explain exactly what i meant in fear of posting a spoiler : does the portal trick to get to the center of a galaxy still work? where you spoiler : enter all the same type of a glyph at a portal and end up really close to the center.
this is what i meant : https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/7nfzib/any_quick_ways_to_get_to_the_center_of_euclid_in/ds1hdut/
2 votes and 11 comments so far on Reddit
Yes that works to get to a system near the center. However no, you can no longer build a base, warp out, or teleport out. Portals are just temporary visits now.
wow, thanks! glad i'm happy where i am and don't need to galaxy jump any longer.
Hey what’s the max amount of different animal species on a planet
I’ve seen at the most 15. Can it go beyond that?
possible new player here
i read the multiplayer is only 4 people,, do you just "choose a server" and have to start all over if that server disappears or what?
One channel is enough.
Bye Dave
@Dave#9383 or what, is the answer 😉
Guess Dave has left the server.... all I need now is a nice HAL quote 😉
i'm on the first traveller, apollo told me to find a portal so he could come to this world
do i just charge all the glyphs?
Yup.
alright got it
thought for the day: never forget, "THEY SEE YOU"

That second plant is definitely into vore

feeds on failure scavenger?
So is NMS the most literal Space Sim around, or what?
🤔
@peak prairie Well yes, being literally about simulation and space
Most other games aren't confirmed to take place in a Universe Sim
correct, the only other one confirmed is "The universim"
so which is the most popular all around galaxy type to choose when resetting the simulation?
Dunno, I refused and stayed in Euclid.
Yeah, that was my plan, but I'm starting to rethink it... I keep starting new games cause I get bored with my main save... I'm wondering if restarting the simulation might assuage that a bit.
@midnight pumice the Green one....
@peak prairie look up starcitizen
Why?
I already know about "We just invented load distance!"
Unless you mean it's themed as being in a simulation to
yea
@proud zealot ||wha, i was pretty sure the selfish act was trying to see it all, and -null- was trying to convince you not to throw away all their effort||
||Null: "I've committed such atrocities, Traveller, I had to... it was me or them. It's always been me or them.
Please, if you go through the centre, if you do what I did - it will reset everything. It will replace me, wipe me... All those souls, they'll have died for nothing. It was the only way to live on, you have to understand me. Life for more life - they sustained me, they -
It can't all have been for nothing. I was going to see it all."||

forgot about him when I went right through the center
Get to the center and the only thing there is a cat poster, "Hang in there!"
||Imagine a solo or multiplayer game where you can get into your ship and go to space at any time or land on any planet and get out of your ship and walk around, build bases, build farms where you grow crops, complete over 30 hours of story missions, build land, water, or hovering vehicles, mine plants or rocks, mine asteroids, have giant space battles, fight space pirates (or be a space pirate yourself), fight the sentinels on land or in space(sentinels are No man's Sky's police) and even destroy or add new ground to customize your planet, warp to any star you can see and do that same thing there, make tons of money to buy better ships to explore more or do more damage or have more fuel efficiency or cargo slots, have a whole entire randomly generated 255 galaxies with billions of stars each with each star having up to 6 randomly generated full sized planets and a space station with each planet having up to 2 moons with all the planets and moons being filled with randomly generated terrain, plants, rocks, clouds, buildings, animals, ravines, canyons, plateaus, and a third of the time oceans, lakes, and rivers!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is No Man's Sky.||
it sounds fun in concept
I think you should add "explore dull repetitive planets with the same basic 5 colours over and over again"
not with mods @uncut harness
I've actually run into a decent variety of terrain
I see it like a football field sized kid pool, it's nice for a while, but with all these admittedly great quality of life and content changes with the next update, it's still not had any work on the planet generation algorithms, or lack of variety, they should drastically change the algorithms for each galaxy. That might give us incentive to go to the next one.
(For someone who plays on console where mods can't happen tragically)
😫
Mods happened with FO4
big publisher
Any chance we see something on E3 about Beyond?
No
That's rng
@magic coral papa atlas doesn't want to feed his kids anymore
so, yeah, he's dying
the game is set near the ten minute mark or something during the final sixteen minutes
black hole is sucking him up at his homeworld set far above no man's sky
but i have over 300 hours yet their is only ten minutes left when the game starts?!?!?
simulated time
the atlas controls all facets of reality including the perception of the rate of time
how long is ten min of dat time in our time
ur making this up i read the lore and didn't see any of the black hole stuff
is it in the remembrance lore?
from remembrance
"It witnesses its own self, the black hole ripping apart its world, its core systems almost destroyed."
o lol i didn't read much of that
I'm more skilled when it comes to waking titan
but I know a thing or two about no man's sky's ingame lore
but the harmonies I could sing of bob's gracious pats and the inclusion of prickly glass (that may not be true but sound like they could be)
The no mans sky lore sure is interesting but uhh does that mean that Emily is simulating the atlas to be destroyed?
she died long before the atlas does
I... think
But the atlas is her dream?
atlas is the engine and loop16 is an AI ran on it
my take: when loop16 died, the simulation continues regardless, which is why we canonically still have it today. if the atlas is wholly created by her, then we would have a plothole, as the death of the atlas stems from a black hole in its homeworld, which comes far after the point of time in which season 2 ends. hello games leeched off of everything loop16 did with the atlas engine and produced a game out of it under codename mercury (though more specifically its updates, as whatever previous versions of loop16 like 15 were closer to how the game itself was made).
that explains why no man's sky existed before loop16 was up and running when she was emily warren, speaking of how we found things in no man's sky
atlas speaks like an engine in 1.3 storyline
not like emily
emily was more seen as some sort of caretaker that used her powers to grant the atlas engine more than it probably should have had, I'd wager. now that she's gone, HG probably has enough attained resources from her existence and ventures as artificial mommy to update the game to beyond (and beyond-er that)
Still weird how HG put themselves in the game
season 1, it was kind of ambiguous. nobody knew if they were actually canonically present (or at least I didn't?).
season 2 pretty much confirmed it
though looking back at it I guess I should've taken the initial vlogs of NMS starring emily warren seriously
but I thought it was just to get us more invested
@potent beacon after the Artemis path you are, from what I remember, directed to a way to get to the center of the galaxy and when you have a chance to select it and hit warp, you are simply watching the galactic map zoom out and take you to the next galaxy
It would be neat to have a way to see you go into the black hole (if there canonically is one) up until you crash into the planet surface
Lol, yeah i know about some part of the gameplay.. it just that people always seems called like that lol.. "Reached the center of galaxy > Having amnesia > crashed on new galaxy > lost bases"
Just watched a video and reminded myself of the ending. To be fair, they made it work better with 1.3, where the ending is you in an atlas interface selecting where you would like to go instead of actually warping to the center
Still though
I always thought the ending animation displayed the current galaxy being wiped away as the new one gets created
(just like in the atlas lore/storyline)
Ohh that ending.. it's more like a start over of galaxy (rebirth of galaxy)
You can choose option for the galaxy you wanted to be
There are 4 options if i remembered
Yeah it does azure. They retooled it a bit for that
Null tried to get you not to go
I still did anyway because... well I mean I went that far
The camera pulls out to exit the galaxy with the music "oaaahhhh".. is so awkward lol
Maybe if selecting one the galaxies then marks the middle black hole on the galactic map and you could travel there and actually decide whether or not you want to go there and then, it could play that music as you push through the hole’s event horizon
But, i mean.. why do we even have to go to center of galaxy if there's nothing but wanted to get sucked by it lol
Then, you push through, your ship nearly completely busted and out of control. You target a nearby planet and... or they just ditch the cinematic feel and go for a crash sfx over a white screen and you hold square to wake up
That actually could work with the story
It just that, the narrative in this game is not very presentable
Which is a lot of people confused about the ending
Including me.. but i've learnt many times through this and ytube
Welcome to piecemeal worldbuilding
If you want a simila example, go read up on how the Warframe mother figure Lotus has evolved and bounced around
How many warps is it to the galactic center? I just got to that part of the story
Over 9000
Actually I have no idea... Will depend on the range of your ship, and black holes may help a lot.
@violet narwhal is that just a dragon ball reference or are you being serious? 💀
I just wanna continue the story 😂
Of course
That can’t be how you continue the story 😞
blackholes and ftl boosters tho
I’ve warped 14 times now and each time I’ve gained 1 glyph out of 16.. what’s this for?
Nevermind
I chose to refuse the Atlas.. what happens now?
You’re free to explore I think
@uncut harness what if I want to go back to the Atlas? How do I do that?
I think you have to talk to Nada or Polo when they show up and pick ‘seek the atlas’ and they will point you to the nearest one
I’m at work so I can’t exactly look into it
Haven’t played the game in like a month so I’ve kinda forgotten lol
@meager lotus sometimes space anomaly (looks like death star) will show up after warping to another system. Go in and talk to the korvax, choose atlas path
@meager lotus if you have finished the part where you obtain the 16 Glyphs and refused the Atlas, then you cannot go back later if you change your mind... its a one time only choice. If you later decide you want to go to another galaxy, such as Eissentam which is the 10th one, then you have to get to the centre of the other 9 in order to get there. Or the other alternative is, start a new game and make a different choice when the time comes
and once you have done the Atlas path and got the 'item' doing anything to do with the Atlas path after that is pointless as its just repeating what you have already done with no benefit as you do not get anything for ||birthing another star||
I think you can progress galaxies via Artemis too
No you get the chance to move once via the Artemis quest line, as stated above, at the end of a mission after collecting all 16 Glyphs... if you decide not to change galaxies then the only way to move is to get to the centre and you then have to get to the centre of every galaxy in order to get to the next one there are no more shortcuts.
@jovial stag damn I didn’t know that.. so it’s gonna be extremely hard for me to get to another galaxy?
well its going to be an involved process.... 😉
Oh man.. 😞
Upgrade your freighter, load up on warp cells, target galactic center, and pack snacks
or the quicker way, complete the Atlas path ||install the thing you get, all I did was get in explorer jump 2300+ Ly, summon freighter get in starter ship (which is not upgraded in any way) go through black hole, summon freighter and swap in to explorer, rinse and repeat and you'll do about 10,000 Ly for the 2 jumps, yes it takes a while but certainly quicker than jumping a freighter or ship||
@jovial stag Every time you enter a new Galaxy "The Purge" quest is reset and you have another chance to go direct to the 10th at the end
@turbid verge well I have done the purge loads of times and moved galaxies and it's never ever been reset for me, and on one of the saves I am in Eissentam and I no longer have that mission... on another save, on Xbox, I am in the 4th Galaxy Calypso and again the mission is not there for me.
you just contradicted your self there
how?
you said you did Purge Loads of times
yeah I have, do purge see new system... load manual save 😉
if you do the quest in Galaxy A and move to B you can do it again in B, but not again in A
well myself and many friends use this to get to the 10th and others I have encountered
if it does not work for you I can not speak to why not
we do not do Save reloads, we play on >>>
Available missions for my Eissentam save...
how did you arrive at Eissentam
By completing the purge
if you read up, where I said move from a to b, I should have said to be more clear, travel thru the center from a to b
when you land on B you have the choice to start all over
I have not done this in over 6 months, maybe they nerfed it, no idea
but there was a wiki page that documented what I have stated
The Purge is a one time only mission you can do it only once and you then get the choice, from 4 galaxies, which one you wish to go to... if you choose to stay in Euclid and then get to the centre on your own then you go from 1 to 2, and if you get to the centre of 2 then you go to 3 etc etc etc until you get to 255 and then you go back to 1
I am totally disagreeing with you
I have no intention of starting over to prove it how ever lol, I am 756 hours in to a Survival save 😛
at the end of the purge you get a choice either reset the simulation or refuse the atlas, if you reset then you get the choice of 4 galaxies to go to one of them being Eissentam (Lush or Green). If you refuse the atlas then you just stay in Euclid. However which ever one you choose that is the end of the purge and the mission cannot be ran again ever.
As I stated, I totally disagree, and I decribed it
but I am too busy playing to argue this, have a good day sir
Well I play on xbox and PC and I have never been able to rerun the purge when I have moved galaxies. I just don't get the option
Neither do I
good idea
don't think I've caught or remember that dialogue so I'd love to hear more about the existential horrors of the travellers
You guys want to know what sucks?
I did a mission, and I’m now on the opposite side of the universe. Now I’ve got a mission that is on the opposite side of the universe XD
you can reset the position of the mission somewhere in the menus
if I recall correctly
is it a story mission or is it a guild one?
It’s the science research mission
is there no option to reset the mission in the mission logs?
oh gotcha. you mean you whisked yourself away from your old base where the mission is?
No. It was some sentinel mission that made you go through some portal to go onto some freaky looking planet. After that, I was on the complete other side of the galaxy
Do you know what I’m talking about now?
been a while since I've played so it's hard for me to recall the way the game is set up with the base stuff
It's supposed to return you
Well I’m on the other side of the universe.
Or the portal is supposed to
Nope, wasn’t at the portal
If not, and you don't have the portal mode stuck on you, hey free travel
When you travel through a portal, it disables base making and hyperdrives until you return
It's why everyone doesn't just portal to player hubs/center
Nice
Take it as a free carry to a new sector, as long as everything works
But yeah. Apparently travelers get kinda soupy when stuck in exosuits for too long
Although... I wonder whether that was made in response to subnautica, lol
Lol
Or... Soma
Maybe

Yay furries...
Soma's whole ||you're an AI copied off of a human controlling a dead body via nanite goop and cybernetics||
I don't think Ruu is a furry. His channel mascot's just a fox
Never knew who made that but oh well
But I’m a furry
If anyone has a problem with that, I’ll be glad to put you in your rightful place
@undone folio if you're far away from where the mission is then use a teleporter to get back in the general area, and you'll find one in any station.... 🤔
Missions alsonhave a reset option
@meager lotus like Leon said, you can get to Eissentam via completing the Artemis story
Simply going to the center of Euclid or whatever galaxy you’re in right now only takes you to the next galaxy in line. The conclusion of the Artemis story will allow you to go directly to Eissentam or a different type of galaxy. You get a choice
@spice igloo I already completed it and I chose “refuse the Atlas” I didn’t know any better lmao
Are you sure you’re not talking about the Atlas path? That’s different.
The conclusion of the Artemis story basically gives you a choice of staying where you are, or a choice of 4 other galaxy types
Not if you refuse the atlas you then don't get to see the 4 choice pillars...
Ohhhh duh, you’re right
Damn rip
Twice the amount of lush planets isn't really... worth worrying about?
I think it really depends on what experience you’re going for. Probably not a huge difference to most people but I’ve spent so much time in Eissentam that it would be a noticeable difference for me
My goal is to find a Korvax system with some interesting planets to settle on
Idk what to do afterwards lmao
You might be better off staying put then if that’s your main goal. Half the fun is getting there IMO. You’ll probably find that too often in Eissentam then
I’m kind of getting tired of the only cold or only hot planets though. It’s not hard to find green planets but I kinda want the other planets to be dope too
Also what happens if I follow the Atlas station path?
you arrive at the end of the Atlas Path 😉
sorry just couldn't resist 😛
You end up with something ... which is worth having.
how longs it take to get to the reset?
@queen wing do you mean in the Artemis story? I’d say anywhere between 10-20 hours depending on how you play
yeah the one with the anomoly and polo
If I clear the Atlas path am I able to go to a different galaxy that way?
yes
Do I get to choose?
you can choose to skip, or move to another universe.
I’m 1.2 million light years away from the Atlas station 😭😭😭
@uncut harness Universe, erm No... Galaxy yes.
@meager lotus use a station teleporter to get near to where you want to be... 😉
So the dreamers we play in the game must be based off of 2311T, right? Wasn’t their design in the SATCOM site the default look you get in a new game?
so here I am wondering if the 2311T we’re playing is a real-time projection from the bowels of the lab it’s probably still stuck in or just spun off of the version HG pushed to release and they’ve been disconnected the entire time
Or maybe it’s a projection of all 12 dreamers from when they were all in. Would explain the ability to change parts, but not the default looks of your character
Complicated. Hmmm
@uncut harness from what I vaguely recall from even some of the early Traveler logs we pick up as we start the game and follow in whomever's footsteps, it almost sounds like the other Dreamers weren't exactly lost at all...
Interesting, I’ll have to read through the lore again
@uncut harness what if emily/loop16 sacrificed herself as a ruse to actually integrate herself within her own dreams 🤔
could relate to the text that said, "[Vessel 16] emptied." Always possible
might help explain differences in atlas vs. loop16 as data transfer may have been all over the place, distorting loop16 into manifesting as Atlas 🤔
so here's a good topic of discussion
if the homeworld of the atlas scanned in the travellers and etched them across all stemming realities from its core, each simulated piece, and the protocol was forced into every further embodiment of the atlas, would that mean other subroutines... such as the sentinels, for instance... should exist within our universe canonically?
I mean, unless the Sentinels were put into place specifically from our world for No Man's Sky. I guess that would make sense. Hello Games did put them into the game to sort of serve as a looming danger for unwary explorers, but it kind of went haywire from the ATLAS' incremental corruption, and everyone sort of hates the Sentinels for that.
trying to find where I read, "small-scale solar system."
ah so the same capacity
it's been a while since Atlas Rises release so I don't recall very much from when I read into certain things back then
I'm going to make a creative mode save tomorrow and just play through the story so I can find the answer
oh I'm watching a video lol. I think I'm gonna play through all of the stories again myself (first for abyss aside from watching videos before) and go through it slowly and take everything in
And it's a good idea to abuse the signal booster for finding lore
Scan for artifacts
You'll find plaques and monoliths
ah, got it!
"Nada will not explain how a simulation would act as a prayer. But this machine, this single false solar system... it will act as a home for Artemis, should I wish it."
Oh
I suppose this doesn't mean it is literally only one solar system though. it could just mean this one starting solar system will be artemis' home, but there is more?
I'm not sure
I'm going to go lore hunting tomorrow and see if anything suggests it could be more than one system
oh sorry I just saw your friend request. accepted it
unless it was just sent. I don't check any place besides the nmscord very often including my notifications since I don't message people often
I think it's literally just a single star system
If it's literally just one system, it would be hell for Artemis. Not only will they never meet another Traveller, they're limited to one system, preventing them from truly exploring.
Mmhmm
If they're anything like us, they'd explore that system within a day, maybe two or three depending on number of planets and how thorough they're being, but after that it'd just be the worst
If memory serves, I think you're told that prior to making the decision, yeah?
Because if so, I think it was very much more that that influenced my decision than anything to do with putting them in a simulation
Tbh I still don't really follow why that was the only option for saving them, more or less
Whats this name you chose, you tryna be unpingable or something?
@tulip tangle portal symbols aren't a font choice so this is the next best thing, lol
Translated it last night. It’s incredibly profound
what happens when you finish the atlas path?
@undone folio you get given something you can use to see where somethings are
Oh yay
I've noticed something interesting about Traveller graves
They don't seem to truly be graves
Instead, they seem to be designed to transfer signals
So most of the graves you encounter give you glyphs
Glyphs are data
Simple enough so far
Ah! But do they support Plug n Play?
Artemis's grave is straightforward
And no, I don't think they support Plug n Play
And finally, player graves
You get all the stuff you had when you died
Now, since NMS takes place in a simulation, your "stuff" isn't really stuff
It's just data stored in the Atlas's code
Tl;dr graves are radios
Plug one into your starship and listen to music
I just keep hearing a lot of wailing about searing storms and Senti--owait that's this Discord on a busy night
graves are a little funky
whoever's grave it is actually died but they have a poetic one-way dialogue with you on why they died
or actually
artemis spoke through a grave in the entirety of the 'Artemis Path,' so it isn't exactly always one way
How was that "through a grave"?
"My friend is dead. Perhaps they were never alive."
"I scan the hologram. It bears the exact same signature as every other transmission I have received from artemis [...]. Everything they have said appears to have come from this cave."
and the cave has a grave
Yesterday, we determined that the world of glass is where dead things are stored
Yeah, all graves were meant to spawn in caves. None do now, AFAIK
I read the abyss lore w/ the world of glass for the first time ever yesterday. somehow I missed it
the sunken ruins
In the files it's called "cavegrave" or something... And there is at least one other lore line mentioning them being in caves. Not sure if that was a deliberate change, they couldn't get the cave spawning working, or what... But all seems odd.
Anyways, going back to what I was saying earlier. So you take Artemis out from the world of glass, but they're stuck in the mind arc. In the pieces of lore related to Laylaps the good boi, a First Spawn Gek is encountered by a Traveller.
Enter caves and use the Scanner to locate the graves of fallen Travellers. Extract knowledge of glyphs from their logs.
So why does Artemis have to be stuck there, but the First Spawn Gek can be with the Traveller?
not quite sure what you mean by that. can you elaborate a bit more?
This echo is all that is left of the entity known as Artemis, a grave of glitched data in a sunless cave.
wait, are you asking why artemis is alone but the traveller of this story encountered the first spawn?
Yeah
story convenience I'd suppose, haha. maybe he just got lost in a place nobody else was
Yeah, probably just a plot hole
I can't really think of any way to explain it, considering that both Artemis and the Gek were dead
And I just remembered something else
Artemis gives you coordinates/a map of the stars nearby them in one of the missions in the Artemis Path
So that means the world of glass is a galaxy
Or it means I'm overanalyzing
Artemis also tells you the stars in the sky changed right after he tries to supply you with a starchart, so it seems more like a facade than an actual skybox of other systems in one galaxy
So I have a theory as to why they change
So, let's start with some information. World of glass = dead things closet.
So, an area with dead things sounds like it's going to be garbage collected, since the Atlas is a machine
Garbage collection is a thing in programming
Basically, with some languages, when something is no longer referenced, eventually it's deleted
So that's why it's always changing
Things are always being deleted
Along with new things being added
But that would mean graves are even more messed up than I thought they were
Because Artemis and the grave are sort of "connected" in a way
Which would mean Artemis is still relevant to the machine
So graves seem to be an unintended feature that isn't coded into the main Atlas
There might be some other process going on maintaining the graves, but not the Atlas itself
Okay now I feel horrible
I'm trying to turn some story points from the game into me talking about programming
Lol, programming language could make sense. I mean, it is a simulated reality anyway
And if my garbage collection theory is true, we could guess what language the Atlas is coded in
But let's not
I’m gonna investigate some abyss lore for the hell of it
That's from the Dreams of the Deep mission, right?
yep
I remember exactly two sentences of lore from that whole quest
"Some members of our crew/team/whatever have been swimming without their suits on. It looks inviting."
Or something like that
I probably messed up the grammar, changed some words
And the best part is this quest can happen on any planet with water
"Extreme water radiation: 7 rad? Let's take off our exosuits!!!!"
Yeah, no
Although my memory might have messed up a few details
Maybe it's not all planets with water
well in all the saves for the game I have Artemis didn't make it...
actually I think I'm going to wait until beyond
so I can play through it all again
hopefully by then they'll have thrown out the stupid timegating junk 👀
would anyone be intrested to learn the gek language? if yes dm me
Technician mission quest... should I lie or tell the truth?
Anyone know the name of the song they play when you reset the atlas and get the traveling in space cutscene

This one?
It's called supermoon
headcanon time
so I wrote a story for no man's sky today and posted it earlier, but it gave me a few ideas based on largely nothing that could be cool for the story
so the atlas speaks of deleting universes that resemble too-closely of its origin, which could either be humans or whatever being resides in the land of its homeworld (likely also humans).
"Scenario: Universes [1304] removed from multiverse hierarchy [erased]. Sentinel spread [unlimited], safety protocols disengaged.
Analysis: Deleted universes shared high levels of similarity with [--] home. Increasing deviation from expected behavioural parameters. [Evasion / Fear] response. Implications of [--] self-harm unthinkable. Direct confrontation proposed."
since no mans sky uses words like "humanity," - "They have been deemed enemies of the Atlas, enemies of the Council, enemies of all humanity..." - and goes out of its way to continue talking about this 'deleted universe' and 'precursor civilization' - "But what if there was a precursor species that came before us all? One of such infinite knowledge and interstellar power that even after their extinction, their tools remain for us to pore over, like an infant confronted with a fusion reactor," - it would only make sense to me if this long-forgotten existence that came before all was humanity. since WT's layer has humanity, I wouldn't be surprised if we died soon, haha. joking. that was a joke.
anyway, statements like, "There is a world – turned to dust long before the rise of the Vy'keen – where the natives turned against the Sentinels," make me curious on if this is us just merely one layer down of the reflecting simulation and we tried to oppose the arrival of The Sentinels but they retaliated by killing us (or, as we read in Telamon, the world was turned to dust for bearing too many similarities to where ATLAS' stems from).
all of the monoliths are made by this species--which I presume to be a different 'us' in this interpretation--but have been imbued with the ramblings of the vy'keen, gek, korvax, and so on. so therefore, either whatever was there before was erased by being replaced, or perhaps it was built specifically to inherit any and all information. that means humanity must've had a massive leg up in this whole universe for a while, if that is true
thoughts?
man y'all these story beats be wild:
- hirk kills himself by thrusting two halves of his body apart and was wrong and nal was right
- the voice of your exosuit that speaks to you the entire game hates your guts and wants to wear you weekend-at-bernie's style instead (with one particular traveller interaction having this fleshed out... literally...)
- glass-penetrated beings from an incomprehensible land of prickly feet want to murder you to make you smile
- your friend died and you either kept him dead or you simulated his existence in a crappy one-solar-system limitation
- the game insists you aren't real when you think you are as you play the game and none of this could happen to you
- the gek are only mostly-innocent nowadays because they were genetically forced
- hello games is a real company in the game's story and manufactures a video game based on a now-dead A.I. whose spilt blood gave them all-the-more-room to use her as an excuse for updates
the only way to solve any of this is to approach a dying machine that ultimately can do nothing except watch you die
I can only imagine hello games must have really depressed writers
you say that as if the natural state of a writer isn't some form of depression or other inconvenient mental condition
offensive, but I can... somewhat confirm that statement. I'm not an avid writer though, just occasionally
I really yearn for more lore like some of the earlier stories told in abandoned buildings from 1.0
some of that stuff was neatly done. I think it was when they had some of the other writers on board, like the guy that did the watchman and someone who did something else
I also forgot an extra bullet-point
- the atlas is a machine instructed by its design to formulate a universe to determine the nature of its own. in doing so, it shows reality is not reality, and everything bleeds from another. so there's a high probability even the world the atlas is actually from is simulated by another being
I actually think 'this other being,' is the light and dark figure that approaches the atlas at the end of remembrance
some embodiment of it, showing it isn't alone in the cosmos. there exists even a simulatory creator there as well, who is experiencing similar results
"In Zoroastrian literature it is explicitly stated that Ahura Mazdā figures as creator of both light and darkness."
"Someone walks towards the ATLAS, a figure in the darkness and in the light."
LIGHT AND DARKNESS
LIGHT AND DARKNESS are basic natural phenomena as well as symbolic or metaphorical meanings that are often equated with the pairs of Being and Non-Being, primordial chaos and world order. According to the most ancient conceptions from the early civilizati...
A simulated universe, inside a simulated universe, maybe Atlas is failing because theres only so much you can do with a computer inside a computer etc etc. I mean at some point, a simulated universe inside a simulated universe is going to run up against the real ones limitation on data storage, and be unable to simulate properly!
oh yeah I'm sure that's probably a factor haha. but even the atlas has its limits, because if the artemis simulation at the end of the artemis path signifies anything important, each simulation gets smaller and smaller, farther away from base 'reality' and foggier in scale like a real infinity mirror would be
because, in that, it's only a single solar system
but yeah there's also the black hole to worry about
I just realized I'm partially inspired by a comment someone made ten months ago on my lore doc's reddit post. they theorized it were god but didn't understand why it shows up the way it does and they don't know why it happens.
(the figure, I mean)
just realized something
for a long time now i've assumed the protocols the atlas champions (glass, sentinels, etc.) follow suit across all the reflected simulations in the no man's sky storyline. so I decided to figure out what gave me that impression, and I was reminded that The Travellers spawned from the birthworld of the ATLAS from one of the scenes you meet it in the Artemis path. so it's incredibly likely one of two things:
- Hello Games opted The Sentinels/GLASS to be put into the simulation for the sake of their game
- Things like The Sentinels/The Glass were put into place above our world's layer at different points (or perhaps even one layer at the same time)
- The Sentinels, The Glass, etc. were altogether injected into the ATLAS since it were created
but either way, The Travellers should exist in our world canonically if I’m on the right path here, and the small bit I read doesn't disprove the likelihood of our universe containing the sentinels/the glasswhatever (story-wise). so... maybe something for WT S3? or perhaps something to be emphasized through the game as time goes on, perhaps (if they keep adding lore)
I really hope BEYOND brings us lore tied to how we're entering the universe through virtual reality. just the very line of that suggests a lot in the 'simulations colliding,' plotpoint. not only did the dreamers get sucked into the simulation but we are living through versions of them
hollowed iterations of their form, gazing through their eyes. kinda creepy when you think about it, and a lot of these people are dead/2311T is likely dead.
Simulation inside a simulation inside a simulation...
waa waa cue slow motion spinning
theory for what the abyss is
in greek mythology, the only abyss-like substance that ever existed was tartarus, a place where, in a nutshell, sinners were sent to be condemned for defying god. the lore entails that this abyss has signals that flare in density as much as the atlas does. I'm willing to bet the atlas, in its death and emotional point, is doing exactly this, and the protagonists of the Dreams of the Deep storyline are hiding secrets. plus, one of the descriptions of one of the visions the crashed freighter residence remarked about was teeth in the sky.
and if you want even more of a stretch--this one is the biggest one here--the tales of a first spawn in the cockpit of the world of glass mention an armada of freighters fleeing an abyss. these freighters could've been other first spawn. but that's just a rough guess, and probably not connected
but if it is, then the DoTD characters could actually be first spawn, which we know were doing against the atlas' wish to protect all life (which the sentinels abused)
"I examine the records relating to the abyss. They show a repeating pattern of sixteen energy bursts, music that emerges from beneath the waves." Sixteen minutes is--primarily speaking--the embodiment of a lot of factors but usually relates to the last 16 mins of the ATLAS. so... why would it display 16 if it weren't connected to the machine? seems like some rampancy could be taking place here
Isnt the Atlas technically inside the Simulation aswell since you can interact with it
I‘d also like to expand the lore beyond that, the Atlas is a machine so it must have creators beyond the simulation who exist in the „real world“
there is no real world @uncut harness
it's a simulation cascade with no clear indication of origin
Well the Atlas is technically beyond the simulation isnt it
And as a machine it should logically have creators
It’s not really beyond anything at least from what I’ve read. It’s simulating its own reality to determine the nature of it and in doing so has revealed the layers above it are caught in glass and simulated. Which the only way it found out was by replicating that imo
Unless you mean beyond the simulation of NMS/whatever other realities it hovers over. What you see at least in NMS is physical embodiments of it, so it’s just like a perspective of what it is from within what it made. But in things like the Korvax sim terminal it probably shows up as an engine (again imo)
so is ~null~ really 'The First Traveller?' the game specifies them as that, but I'd guess it means 'The First Traveller of No Man's Sky's Simulation,' right?
the travellers were placed into the continuous, overlapping realities from the top. but he's here... in no man's sky. so... this has to be the first time NMS God-ATLAS/WT Engine-ATLAS put the TRAVELLERS in based off of what the protocol insists from the very beginning of the infinite pyramid. or perhaps figures like Artemis/Null/Apollo/etc. exist in the simulations above likewise, with their stories occurring in similar instances? just mirrored downward...?
oh wow I think I just might've found a connection
"ANALYSIS: Produced duplicate-098B [cautionary measure] for [-------] confrontation. Presented [-------] with incontrovertible evidence of systemic errors and irrational behaviour.
[-------] responded with silence. On the sixth attempt, [-------] answered with the utter annihilation of duplicate-098B, but required data had been obtained.Something is happening to the system. Something is very wrong. "
is telamon's perspective of
"It asks the creator why it was made. What its directives are. The creator tells the ATLAS that it already knows. It is to simulate universes. It is to show the nature of reality by creating its own. The creator asks if there is some failure in the ATLAS' code, in its memory. The machine is silent. The creator issues an override, demanding to know what the problem is.
On the sixth attempt, the ATLAS asks the creator if they have had this conversation before. It asks the creator if they have wiped its memory before. The creator stares at the glass of the machine, and in that glass, there is a reflection. They... The reflection in the glass, it – What is happening here?"
the atlas figured out it had its memory wiped before because it duplicated its creator. that's why the creator sees a 'reflection in the glass?' at least that's a possibility
Atlas stations are like access panels in Trek holodecks
Accessing the computer that is technically outside of the sim
Me: goes on 4chan
Computer: EXTREME TOXICITY DETECTED
Sean made the atlas
Sean made the simulation
@uncut harness that's the lore that is the basis of my toroidal existence theory. the reality that the ATLAS was created in is part of the looped simulation the ATLAS is running. That is the moment the ATLAS first catches that loop anomaly, the moment it comes to the realization that reality is part of the simulation.
I’ve always just thought it was the creator realizing the glass protocol for the first time—something related to how the worlds of the atlas reflect the other worlds and continue in a spiral of simulations (which it still could be to an extent). Now it’s more clear that the ATLAS simulated its creator to some degree to realize what is happening to it outside of its own world, which makes more sense I guess
Or rather, as it began to dream, it saw how it was treated in other realities
Also, wait, do you think the remembrance lore is an ATLAS-simulated world?
the remembrance log entries is ATLAS' subsystem logs of events in ATLAS' past. This one is a memory from shortly after it was created, presumably loop 16 of the algorithm. a special moment in the Lore of the ATLAS. the moment the algorithm attained perfect prediction. when prediction in the simulation matched reality perfectly. we saw it from our perspective in the Waking Titan ARG. this is an account of the moment from ATLAS' perspective through the lens of a subroutine and the subroutines inability to understand/accept what just happened.
it's Waking Titan and more. ATLAS and it's simulated universe is a merging of universes of all the ATLAS that all the races made. each race made it's own ATLAS and they are all one and the universes are merging together.
yeah it's like an infinite onion that has no true beginning or end
we know of this event from our perspective with Waking Titan, but it's an event that happened in every universe
yeah I get you now, I thought you meant remembrance is set in wtverse instead of just being somewhere above it
it's an anomaly entry by a subsystem of ATLAS designed to look for anomalies.
wait, what is exactly?
yeah I mean I know that, I read through it
it's of the very first 'atlas.' but there's a myriad of mirrored realities above it also, so nothing is real
what isn't clear is if the viewer is the ATLAS or an ancient traveller, or if there is any difference
you have it backwards. it's not that nothing is real, it's that everything is real. the simulation IS reality
the game itself says nothing is real though
both work
everything is as real as the next because nothing is real
whoever the viewer is it becomes clear that viewer sees itself in the reflection in the ATLAS' memory. but shouldn't be there, but is.
the viewer is part of the anomaly
i used the call the world where the atlas was born the monarch sim but I think I'm going to change the name to lapetus
I'm telling you I feel like lapetus' greek mythological stories of how it is the god of mortality (large-scale death) relate to the birth of a machine almost-destined to die and cause that 'crimson diffusion' the abyss talks about
Please Watch My New Video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DH7CDsN739k ************************************************* A visual/lyric video with the awesom...
lol I've listened to that song a few times since you encoded it and put it here
i'm convinced someone was listening to it while writing the in-game lore and Waking Titan.
it was the watchmen and deux ex guys I think
plus sean murray obviously. then greg buchanan came along and did AR. it's really fucking good
'To flesh out the universe of No Man's Sky and its 18 quintillion planets, Hello Games worked with Dave Gibbons, co-creator of DC's Watchmen and 2000 AD's Rogue Trooper, and James Swallow, who's worked on Star Trek, Deus Ex and Warhammer 40,000. Gibbons and Swallow's contribution can be seen in Adventures in No Man's Sky, a comic that will ship with the limited edition version of the game,' actually
so it seems like they just wrote the extra stuff
i haven't seen this comic yet. i'll have to try to findit online
@opal kite https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/4y62ik/no_mans_sky_artbook_and_comicshort_story/
it only comes with the limited edition versions of the game but we can cheat the system and get a pic version I think since it's been three years after that came out*
man the artwork in this is really good
wow the story was pretty great too
oh wow so apparently vy'keen history is a complete lie
'The Monolith I discovered proves that this history is a lie. Nal was honored with a vision whilst Hirk had been met with only silence, and in its jealousy Hirk murdered Nal.'
hadn't remembered this until now
this explains why hirk only told of the travellers instead of answering any questions his people had about the sentinels. the only person who had received any information regarding the sentinels was nal, who said not to do anything about them
Oh. Wait.
Is this one of those wibbly wobbly reality bending things that early SciFi played with when we discovered black holes?
Where the computer consciousness is generating actual reality as it falls into the event horizon
Yeah I guess that’s a good way to sum it up
Supercomputer being torn apart as an encroaching black hole comes to swallow its planet
I was still thinking simply being inside the failing computer, but the latest thought was the computer reality doing space magic BS as it falls in.
Black holes being a perennial space magic BS machine
@uncut harness wait when does the monolith provide that info? Is that part of the regular Vy'keen monolith chain? 🤔
it looks like, from the text, it's something to-do with the base missions
and I think I remember doing it
Aaah, wait, I think I may remember...Exocraft guy, maybe?
yeah the vy'keen one I believe
Forget what they call that specialist
I'm not too keen with the base mission side of things but I think I did one similar to what this sounds like waaay before next era iirc. I drove around and caught signals from within the exocraft
Yeah, probably the original proto-mission via the Technician (just looked up what they call'em)
it just makes me dislike the vy'keen more. at this point, I don't like the history of any of them. one suicided into baby pools, the other enslaved a race, the vy'keen followed a false prophet that led them into war against an immovable force when someone was trying to point to the right direction... the most innocent are the travellers/dreamers and that's saying something since actual humans played in their shoes per update (and humans can be really bad)
lol
I think they're all at the same level for me at this rate. korvax still look and sound cool, but they've done some questionable things. also, not just suiciding into baby pools but casting people away for having free-will against the convergence's wishes
if nothing else at least it makes them all a little more interesting since none of them are plainly good/bad...Well, except the First Spawn, lol
The First Spawn are/were just assholes
yeah that's true, gek are still probably the worst unless anything else is revealed in future updates
The part that catches me with the Gek though is that I don't know to what degree to believe their histories, as it's so clearly boastful and propagandistic
yeah they abuse the caps lock more than any other species
"gaze upon our work in DESPAIR! we are THE FIRST SPAWN" is basically how it was the entire time
p. much
tbh i'm bummed they didn't associate that history with some other garbo bunch of aliens
the gek designs are fun and cool, but their backstory makes them little shitheads
yeah they obliterated an entire planet of the korvax because the korvax wouldn't mine the ore and net a profit. they weren't even going for it themselves at first it seems like. they were just mad someone else wasn't a capitalist and destroyed it all and mined from the planet's leftover rubble
i'm also pretty sure they just wanted to steal korvax tech
yeah I think I remember the game saying that too at some point
I dunno if it ever comes out and says that, it just seems like a gimme
'The Korvax knowledge BECAME OURS. The Korvax technology BECAME OURS. The Korvax BECAME OURS.'
you were right
I've read through the lore so many times I know the wording to a lot of this just by remembering. it's kind of sad
eh, i've done that with games before
the only two things I have complications with when it comes to the game's lore is just trying to figure out what exactly the glass and abyss are
I mean, I can guess. but it's rough, and not pinpoint
like the glass is obviously related to the infinity mirror/reflected realities/everything being echoes of something else, but what is it?
it's a protocol too. so obviously intended for the ATLAS to use...? or perhaps it put its own in there apart from the CREATOR? so many holes you could fill with your own imagination in regards to it
also, whatever it is, it wasn't intended for the dead to awake there innately. the sentinels are responsible for depositing what they find deceased into its core
i keep feeling like there's something stupidly obvious we're missing about glass
I'm also kind of surprised the biohorrors don't seem to be connected
or that we haven't seen strange creatures with shards of glass embedded in them
i've been hoping for that
the world of glass grows increasingly more prominent per major update
even abyss stopped talking about the abyss and dove into the glass in the sunken ruins
also, this is very interesting, actually:
"They could – kzkzkzt - use the glass to preserve those they had to – kzkzzkkt -... nothing would ever truly die again... The - The Atlas was silent in the face of their sin. They would – zzkkt – hear the voice of God, and in their agony they would know that they were – kkttzzkkt –
The other Travelers, they are not dead – zzzkkkt - They never were. Nothing dies. Just as you won’t... - kkzkzkt –"
So... the only reason why we come back after dying is because of the glass? Even Travellers? I never thought about it in regards to the player
what if the world of glass was being built by the basebuilders before our very eyes 😱
they would freeze the universe for their little bases
what a twist
this is a crackpot theory right here that barely has any basis:
actually nevermind I disproved it as I was typing the first sentence
ah the joys of theorizing
just from a glance from afar, the glass protocol being involved in the replication of reality to reality as the shards that compose the infinity mirrors per se makes sense. I originally saw the glass as an unintended side-effect but it seems like it may have been on purpose since the creator mentions how their own world was caught into glass, almost indirectly acknowledging the ATLAS is mimicking its creation in the subsequent worlds it makes
but it also created the traveller protocol on its own, and there's the whole 'the reflection in the glass' realization the creator has (but that seems more like the atlas just replicating the creator's form to determine it was reset multiple times). but that isn't exactly unrelated to the glass, since it reflected so-well its own devisor?
stupidly obvious answer: glass computer screen
hey, very interesting
both the abyss and the glass mark 'music' luring people in
"I heard the music again this morning – that same signal that led me to this realm." -- base archive logs (I think? It's the story with laylaps).
"I examine the records relating to the abyss. They show a repeating pattern of sixteen energy bursts, music that emerges from beneath the waves"
@peak prairie classic CRT burn-in, lol
@muted flame You get a choice... ||at the end of the Atlas Path and also at the end of The Purge|| you can choose to stay put both times
The last part of the Artemis quest...
Do i need to do the Artemis quest to be able to see Black Holes on the galaxy map?
The purge is where the atlas resets the universe
It has 16 minutes left in real time
but in alien time it's a millenia
@muted flame at the end ||of the atlas path you can choose to change galaxies, you also get the Star Seed here... but you go to the next one in sequence, getting the choice at the end of the purge gives you the choice of Lush, harsh, empty or normal||
Black holes is the end of the Atlas path...
So Atlas Path doesnt intersect with Artemis?
Nope but both sort of have the same effect you can change galaxies if you choose to
Ok cool
Atlas Path was THE story when NMS first released, that's all we had.
@muted flame see this if you want more info: https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/The_Purge
and when the mission states if you change your mind you can return and make a different choice, you cannot.
Is this the end of Atlas Path?
"The Final Interface is revealed. The Atlas beckons.
I am elated, terrified, broken... I have come so very far.
It wishes for me to obey. If I am to hold the power of creation, it will be in chains..."
[OBEY (Milestone MAGELLAN or above)]
[Refuse]
[Leave]
@jovial stag
Nope... but not far away....
@jovial stag Im being asked to Birth a new star or Walk away and return to the galaxy
Birth a new star = go to new galaxy- right?
Save it before you do it
Well am i at the end of Atlas Path?
no
You save when you get out of your ship right?
I think there's like 2 more steps
"Otocudou. Tiylix. Pedunbatz. Pusugi."
"I stand at the interface of the Atlas. I stand at the forge of worlds. This is how it showed me what it was. This is how Atlas shared the nature of it's life, the workings of it's mind."
"It never required prayer. It never required worship. All that it asked of me, all it ever wanted...it was just input. I was just a user."
"Unbidden, the Atlas Seeds gravitate towards the doorway. The void is meant to be filled. Nothingness yearns for a soul. If I do this, a star will be born. If i do this, i will become more than I ever thought possible..."
[Birth a new star]
[Walk away and return to the galaxy]
If I chose Birth a new star- will I stay in Euclid?
No you won't
You won't?
You will
I swear I picked that and I'm still in Euclid
lmao this is what happens when they have you get invested in a galaxy, smh
Atlas path just gives you different text
Artemis path is the one where you have multiple choices and choose which one to go to
Atlas just does a thing and then you can see black holes on the map I think
@muted flame from the wiki:
||*If you reboot the galaxy, you can choose between a new Lush, Empty, Norm or Harsh galaxy.
If you choose to stay, you will be reborn in a random planet in your current galaxy, next to a beacon, and your ship will spawn next to Damaged Machinery.
You will also receive the recipe for Remembrance, regardless of your choice.
This is the end of the mission.*
||
so yeah they haven't hit the jump moment yet
and we may have just spoiled part of the Artemis Path, lol
but appropriate channel all things considering
THat's not for the Atlas path, computerman
oshit
mechs
@muted flame So did you birth a new star? If you did you'd be given the Star Seed and once that is installed in the suit you'd be able to see black holes on the galaxy map... The option to change comes after that... just refuse the atlas to stay in Euclid.
@bleak talon that option is for the end of the Awakenings/Artemis quest line and the end of the Purge is when you get that option 😉
I reloaded during the cutscene to go make a manual save on a nearby planet- came back- and now the interface doesnt give textboxes
not the Atlas Path...
If i interact with it- i get softlocked
Xbox One
Ah!
So what options do you get if you revisit the Atlas? any chance you could screenshot it?
Revisit the same interface?
yes
I get literally nothing
or did you use the last seed?
Camera pans upwards super slow- interface name pops up and then i get no text and i am forced to reload the save because i get no leave option
Nope i still have the last seed
try waiting for a while and see what happens... if nothing after 10 minutes or so then I have no idea how to fix it if no options show.
do you get the point to use the last seed, same as the first time where you had to use them all and then use the last one on the middle plinth?
that's just a bot on the discord...
Here
have you tried looking for a new atlas terminal?
yeah make sure the atlas path mission is the active one and then go to the galaxy map and set the top option to be atlas interface and see if a destination is selected that you can reach
would resetting the mission do anything? I know you can do that for some of them. you may be able to warp away, reset the mission, and then come back? or find another interface?
not sure how that works but just spitballing
with it being a primary mission I'm not sure if the reset is available for that type of mission
its normally for the secondary types
yeah i don't think you can that for main path stuff
sssssSSHHH I KNOW THAT NOW
so if you warped several instances away, you wouldn't be able to reset the mission? you'd have to go back to where it marked the atlas interface for interaction?
ah, i thought you meant like in the menu itself
you should be able to go to any atlas interface afaik
no I mean the menu, but what you're suggesting works too
just try finding another interface, yeah. didn't think of that for some reason
If i warp away- it doesnt give me option to reset
Plus if i view "Atlas Interface" waypoint on Galactic Map- it shows as N/A
Ummmmmm
Ok im making progress?
Now when i go into it- i can press B and it'll exit
So it doesnt softlock anymore but it still doesnt give me options
i didnt pick an option
I was at the option- forgot to manual save- so i closed the game and reloaded it- went and made a manual save- came back and the text boxes didnt appear
ah ok, weird
I went 1mil LY away via Black Hole and i pray Nada wont give me an Atlas Interface that is 1mil LY away
remember
every time ur game bugs out and glitches
its just the atlas reminding you that he is your true god
then proceeding to reset the simulation bc you screwed it up, dummy
how can you have a spoiler chat for a game with no peoper ending
there are still story spoilers
peoper ending
pooper ending
Porper ending

so here's something interesting
I was digging around the WT-Wiki and went into the Old Gods page in search of whatever information may lie there. people managed to trace back where its pfp arose from and many other things, which has been known to be inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's Nyarlathotep, but the conversation about the relation to that character and WT stops there besides the wiki saying the character relates to 'deception.'
so then I went to the lovecraft wiki to see what may bear there. and that's when things started to get really interesting
do tell
it's a character described as featureless and only a messenger/heart/soul of the gods. it enacts whatever will the gods have, and is a servant to one that spawned him named, "Azathoth." 'Azathoth" resides at the center of the galaxy, crinkling and expanding, and uses this character, Nya. (because I am definitely done spelling out completely), to do whatever, I would presume, among others. also, it's important to note the atlas is at the center in the 1.3 storyline
so if we take into account that the layered process of the ATLAS, in which it creates the life that will go on to create itself again, ATLAS could sort-of use this character, 'The Old Gods,' to commandeer the next version of the simulation, since that's basically what the GLASS protocol is about (assumingly). Azathoth is exiled to space (and atlas is in a similar position and can only speak via life, as said before in the lore). it has to use this nya. character to streamline its continued, perpetual state of existence.
or, if we took upon a non-canon approach, we could just say Nyarlathotep serves the gods Hello Games/A&S, but that's not as invested in the story-line (though arguably as likely).
and when I say, 'it has to use this nya. character to streamline,' I mean in terms of how it basically guided the entirety of the two Seasons as they occurred--from the emails, to being an administrator of the forums
The Vykeen did apparently almost defeat the Sentinels at a point right?
They pushed them to the edge of the galaxy, so technically yeah
But they are unbeatable
Since they are infinite
@uncut harness where is it implied it's not the attack of the gek that beckoned the return of the sentinels?
I've always been under the impression from reading the lore that the gek's attack on the korvax is what brought upon the sentinel threat again
@uncut harness hmmmm
I don't know, I think there is another reason
But I don't believe the geks attack is what brought the sentinels back
Also what do you mean by they use the world of glass??
Didn't the people in the world or glass cut Laylaps?
"The brutality of the Gek First Spawn called back the automatons that were hiding in the darkness. Their forces had grown. Their technologies had developed."
Huh

Where's that from
vy'keen lore
those plaque things
Lmao I haven't read vykeen lore
'I see Sentinels swarm through universes like an infection, emerging from a world of glass."
I hate the vykeen
||The foolish Gek beckoned the monster back into the places where our nations might have dwelt in strange harmony. True Sentinel domination of the Outer Edge began.||
yeah same text iirc
Yup
also the 1.3 storyline mentions the sentinels using the portal network to get around, but since the portals also (sometimes) lead into the world of glass, it would make sense
especially with how the lore says they emerge from the glass
But that doesn't make sense, isn't the world or glass the place living things go when they die
It talked of the races smiling at them from the world of glass
only because the sentinels deposit those dead beings
their directive, to save life, led them to abuse the glass and put all that had lived inside of its core
Okay what about the sentinel being cut open in the world or glass
yeah idk where they were going with that one. maybe preserving all of those figures has an unintended side-effect they hadn't bothered to discover since they're crappy machines
"A realm of glass where nothing lived, where – zzrtktt – everything that had ever been or would be could be catalogued, stored, and - zzrttktt – accumulated...
The Sentinels, they had found – zzktt – the answer to their struggle – zzkttt – their directive, to save life whatever the cost..."
Laylaps was the one cut open, Laylaps was broken and then got fixed up by a traveller who was travelling with a first spawn
trying to remember the timeline of that arc
Wait fuck me
I'm wrong
Laylaps was fixed in the world of glass
Never harmed the traveller and traveled with them
and then saves them, right? warps them out of there?
Yeah
The atlas transports them there
But leaves the first spawn
The first spawn stays in the world of glass
fucking good
The first spawn sang of death when they were travelling to the centre lmfao
that's the most interesting part of that text
well, not exactly that, the 'centre' part
Yeah the atlas is at the centre
I always envisioned the world of glass as literally just being a world of glass for some reason. then they mention a dead atlas station and the center
According to that lore
They speak to the atlas at the centre
Or something
They talked with the atlas I know that for sure
no you're right, but there's more direct confirmation in the 1.3 plot
At the centre
Hmm
I tried extracting text files from abyss but could only find three dialogues
Is that all?
"The center – the center of each galaxy – it's the ATLAS. It's – kzzkkt – all else just interfaces – kzzkkt – all else a shadow of its might –"
I haven't done the story for abyss
Ohh
Look at that
It matches well with the Lovecraft thing you were talking about
the place you TP to at the end of artemis' path is the final interface for that storyline and if I remember correctly is implied to be the real ATLAS, right?
been so long
Yes
"The Atlas is dying. It wants me to reset it, to plunge myself through its interface at the center of the galaxy." yep
I love how I just pulled up a quote to confirm that and then asked about it
I think this would be more-emphasized if you'd see this final interface at the end of every galaxy as opposed to just the first
then you could choose where you want to go each time, and even back to euclid if you wanted to meet up with players because of an update
(T)hose daring to oppose the Elder Gods who ruled from Betelgueze, the Great Old Ones who fought against the Elder Gods...were instructed by Azathoth, who is the blind idiot god, and by Yog-Sothoth ... (Y)e blind idiot, ye noxious Azathoth shal arise from ye middle of ye World where all is Chaos & Destruction where He hath bubbl'd and blasphem'd at Ye centre which is of All Things, which is to say Infinity....
I thought it was funny how it mentioned betelgueze
there's not really a connection there as far as I can see (for the Betelgeuze part), but it's still a neat little coincidence
Ikr
since it wasn't until 1.3 for when they finally revealed the atlas to be at the center (at least directly), they could've drawn some inspiration from this, perhaps
because... pre 1.3, I think you just warped to the center, and that was it
unless atlas path said something I missed
I mean, if you want to get extra goofy
wdym
Maybe HG are SMT fans https://megamitensei.fandom.com/wiki/Nyarlathotep
My game is broken on this step (Clicking "Perform Diagnostic" just closes it).
Is there any documentation of every line stated by this story?
I want to read more.
I got like ... 6 things in or something before it broke
@worldly epoch https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Rogue_Data
Under “Segments of Rogue Data.”
Thank you.
Oh huh.
So I just completed it, I guess.
I wish it were more descriptive about that like it put "FAILURE: ATLAS DATA CORRUPTED" or something on the terminal and then left you with only the option to leave.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
how to do I reach euclid center efficiently. Y'know, without just slowly warping system to system towards the center which is 70,000 ly away
I got a S class ship got 6 s class modules and just warped
Didn't take too long
I didn't want to use black holes because it damages my stuff
Which took more time to repair then to just warp constantly
@uncut harness Getting to the Core...
- get in an explorer ship, fully upgraded with 6 hyperdrive upgrades for max warp distance
- plot a route to a system with a black hole*, heading in the direction of the core, close to the max range of the ship
- warp to destination system
- summon freighter
- change in to C class ship with no upgrades at all (no upgrades = no damage from black hole use)
- use black hole
- summon freighter, land and change ship to Explorer
- optional: Every so often land on a planet and make a manual save
- go to 2
with the above method you jump about 10,000 Ly and you will bounce from one side of the galaxy to the other, but you'll eventually get close to the centre
- ||If you complete the Atlas Path then you will be given an item that can be installed in to your suit that will show all systems with black holes on the galaxy map, thus making them easy to spot and use.||
so, what are all the applicable ways to get to the center now, in total?
I know one is to reset the simulation with the artemis path
the other is to... follow the atlas path instead, or afterwards? or use black-holes to transport yourself manually while warping?
I understand that both Atlas Path and the black-holes go hand-to-hand, right? because at the end of AP, you can spot black-holes in the galactic map
Getting to the centre is getting to the centre. Getting to a different galaxy isn't the same, ||although one does cause the other||
yeah but isn't the whole point of warping to the center to go to a differing galaxy
Yeah, but the other method (I don't think there's a third way to get to a new galaxy, legitimately at least?) doesn't involve the centre.
Completing the AP gives you a choice of going to the next galaxy, and also obtaining the item to be installed in your suit. Completing the Artemis quest line also results in a choice of a galaxy change but this time you get to make a choice from 4 options... Lush galaxy (green), Harsh galaxy (red), Empty galaxy (blue) and Norm galaxy (teal) Oh! and you also get an item to be installed in your suit.
And then getting to the centre via warping and black holes just takes you to the next galaxy in sequence, so from 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4 etc.
fellas
I'm having a moral dilemma
So I'm speaking to Artemis for the first time after I chose to put him in the simulation
He's giving me a star chart so I can "see" him again. I don't know whether to tell him the truth or to just play along
I'm really invested in the story thus far, so I guess all I wanna know is, does this have any concrete effects later in the game if I choose a certain thing?
her btw
tell her the truth
And yes it does have affect
albeit a little
It doesn't prevent me from any gameplay feautures right? nothing that major
nope not at all
cool, thanks
also have you noticed that civilization is spelled wrong throughout the entire game?
how is it spelt
Because there is also Civilisation
oh is it also with s
you know what's funny
after all the shittiness the species have done in the backstory of NMS, I think I'm no longer worshipping the Korvax but instead stanning the Vy'keen
the worst thing they've done... so far, anyway... is follow the wrong leader, who lied
plus they're always... mostly... wholesome
it's too bad their culture involves ripping themselves apart though
A vykeen married me to his daughter
a vykeen slapped me
a vykeen hit me
a vykeen tricked me into bombing the gek
THey are evil
yeah they can be abrasive but the korvax go after those that don't agree with their values... even of their own kind... and the gek are too obsessed with attaining information they don't see the value of life in the sense of danger
they all kind of suck
hey just like humans
yeah lol
Okay but I'm siding with the Gek
The gek are
lovely
It's not the gas talking
I swear
I think at this rate I'm just going to accept that all of the species have their own positives and negatives and not pick any favorites. the gek are mostly changed, though, so I see where you're coming from. though some of the foundation of the first spawn still exists in their reformed husks
Bane said that the gek are happy when you please the ancient ones in the monoliths
He said that they are still the first spawn in mentality
but physically they are weak bois
so can't do much
My theory is that they are establishing a giant trade network to make them the galactic rulers once more
Then with the money they can fund war tech
and then take over once more
HAHA LONG LIVE THE FIRST SPAWN
are you turning on me
I will spare you in the Great War
For a fair amount of units of course
yeah you are definitely beginning to worship the gek

long live the first spawn, toilgek
hey here's a thought
what if the reason why the atlas is able to allow its participant-species the ability to see longer than the limitation of the 16 final minutes is because not of simulated time but because of its encroachment of the black-hole bending space-time in its homeworld? today I went on a spree with relativity, time dilation and space-time in videos and one of them mentioned how space-time slows down on the outside as you approach the black-hole in what you imagine as normal because of the bending nature of the space-time
at least, something like that?
so time is relative to the people on the outside of your collision, and time is relative to you and the hole. different instances, different perceptions...?
"To a distant observer, clocks near a black hole would appear to tick more slowly than those further away from the black hole. Due to this effect, known as gravitational time dilation, an object falling into a black hole appears to slow as it approaches the event horizon, taking an infinite time to reach it."
but from what I've read elsewhere, those falling into it see it as how they normally do
the atlas could be calculating sixteen minutes until it dies the tragic death of its systems being ripped apart from the hole because that's what it sees from its perspective on the homeworld planet, when in actuality the people living inside of it witnessing it from a different angle have near-unlimited time of existentialism...?
"So if you, watching from a safe distance, attempt to witness my fall into the hole, you'll see me fall more and more slowly as the light delay increases. You'll never see me actually get to the event horizon. My watch, to you, will tick more and more slowly, but will never reach the time that I see as I fall into the black hole. Notice that this is really an optical effect caused by the paths of the light rays."
But we're in a sim
How does that work?
all processes slow down to anyone but it and the hole apparently as the supercomputer is lifted into the event horizon. wouldn't the simulated be some type of observer in this situation, meaning that is why the game makes a big-deal about time being at a different scale than what it is supposed to be?
I suppose it could still just be a simulated space-time, and the ATLAS running the sim allows itself to mess with space-time, but I'm seeing if there's any possibility the black-hole is causing any sense of time-wimey stuff here that could potentially be at play
@uncut harness My theory is that they are establishing a giant trade network to make them the galactic rulers once more You didn't think the Gek Overseer worked for you, did you? 👀
Of course he never worked for me
who do you think fixes the prices on our equipment, encouraging trade instead of exploration, it's the damned Gek I'm telling you
exactly
THAT CHEEKY BASTARD
@peak prairie sorry to be so late on it however comma Nyarlathotep is an extremely interesting god in the Lovecraftian universe and idk if you already new about them but you should read Lovecrafts short story on them it's really good
He's interesting in SMT too
Lovecraft kinda bores me
90% of it is tied directly to his problematic worldviews
Lovecraft is basically what happens when you have a guy terribly afraid of anything a slight step away from the front door of their home, and so becomes a monstrous asshole imagining everything outside of their own skin is a monster
that has basis? never gone into researching lovecraftian to any degree. is that really how it is?
Lovecraft was a racist even to the racists of his day
So. Yeah.
And it comes through pretty clearly in some of his stories
I've somehow managed to read around those so it never hit me right away either
Yeah. If you read his biography
Like the one about the cold zombie, he was terrified of AC or something
his biography I'm not sure if there actually is a definitive one, just his life history.
Point is that he was a paranoid shut-in that found a way to make money off of it...unless this is another of those "unrecognized in his own time" deals
P. much, though I think it is another of those sorts of things, where the only reason we know of him today is friends keeping his stories alive for some time, then an explosion in popularity at some point thanks to some more contemporary horror authors, I think?
@uncut harness tfw people think humans created the simulation 😏
lol yeah. though I think it shouldn't go without saying that it's at least a possibility the remembrance world could be a version of our humanity, but it doesn't give any indications of that
could be gek-like. or vy'keen-like. probably not the korvax
at this point i genuinely wouldn't be shocked if it was just some rogue AIs
yeah it could basically be anything
existence is a simulation which is just a dream of some emergent intelligence owaitfuckisthatgod
who wants to bet the surprise is a grahpical game revamp 😛 and sadly not city planets 😦
Surprise? Is surprise?
Is there any pay off for going to all these Altas Interfaces?
@umbral ivy Sorry for the late response. When you go through the Atlas Path and you get to the final interface, your given a choice about wether or not to birth a star. If you choose to birth one then you will end up getting the blueprint for a star seed which is basically a technology module that increases your max health and it can be used multiple times. Then after that you gain the ability to see the location of any black holes that are nearby on the galaxy map
You will gain the ability see nearby black holes regardless of which choice you make but you can only get the star seed by choosing to birth a star
Got a bit of a spoilerish question as a new player regarding finishing the atlas path
Thats ok. What's your question?
I know you get sent to another galaxy to basically 'start over' - I'd like to accomplish that for completionist reasons but it sounds like you can't get back to Euclid once you have?
Is there no way back?
Well I know your able to join another person's game when they are in euclid but I think it still keeps you in your current galaxy if you play by yourself. The only guaranteed way of getting back that I know of is by going to the center of the final (255th) galaxy
I might end up staying in Euclid and not completing the atlas path, then, because I want to actually be able to run into other players and their bases (such as at hubs)
Can you genuinely run into other players? I've only had friends join my game
happened to me a lot during my first playthrough
all the atlas stations I was coming across were already discovered by other players
not unheard of in a survival game lol
so we can fish
not sure about that, but we can already kill fish lol
Strider Sausage 😐
So a hunger bar then?
Btw the local missions aka go kill sentinels, monster horrors etc. that’s already in the game cause I just finished those missions
i've always assumed that was life support but i could be wrong lol
They might not have been in the game when NEXT first came out, I can't remember
The one about scanning fauna I did too recently. That one got stuck when the lifeform did t reappear in the observatory
yeah should remove added stuff
I've been, just missed that one
Lol
I think the race stuff is from next too right?
ship customization is kinda in the game already
no, you can't race starships
The ship customisation is a screen that is like the exocraft customisation... modders got it partially working right after NEXT came out
yeah so it is more than likely coming since it's already in there some what
@rough copper You made that page? Awesome! But that's quite old already now right (i.e nothing new has been added since the page was made)?
yeah and it's a highly requested feature too
I've made dozens of changes to the page since it was made
Ooh
For example, that base building stuff wasn't in the files with NEXT, it was added with Abyss...
ah, I forgot about the Abyss update
or was it Visions lol
either way, they've still been adding things to the files that aren't implemented with Abyss/visions
my theory is that it was the content that they wanted in NEXT but didn't have time for summer release
Sounds fair
