oh tip for people looking for super giants. they look like gas giants when you click them (many things orbiting a large one), but don't list gas giant (they are normal dissonate). so far i've found super giants to have oddly large variation in terrain comparied to normal planets

super giants are the normal biomes turned up to 11. gas giants are all the same basically with a few color changes

(aka gas giants are just one big storm with fancy colors. good for storm crystals though)

also the pattern with purple stars seems to be it chooses 1 of 4. gas giant, super giant, ocean, or normal (but normal tends to be rarer ironically). so it's pretty easy to know what to expect from a system just by clicking on it from the map

Guys anyone know how to get to new star systems?

I had everything finished already so all I had to do was pulse to kick it off, but everything I've seen says Artemis and Atlas need to be completed, Star Seed crafted and equipped, Autophage quest line up to They Who Returned completed, then pulse to be contacted.

Follow the new quest line and you'll unlock your first Purple System, do more quests then it'll open up the rest on your Galaxy Map

I wish I could give you a straight answer. Reddit is all over the place with results. Star Seed is part of the Atlas path so if that's even needed you'll have to get that done. Artemis may be to access that back room in the Nexus. Then Autophage stuff so you can talk to the guy in the Nexus

I didnt have atlas finished, as soon as I finished it I got the encounter

its needed because you use the atlas plot in the questline

Finally got the center today, had a hard time because a lot of these new systems are the last planet in the chain to the center :/ had to jump around for like an hour finding one

messed around with Abandoned mode

• no NPCs, so no buyable upgrades
• all systems are uncharted or abandoned, which means old space stations and hence no access to ship building/salvaging
• space anomaly is there but its like Adrift, no NPCs so no buyable tech upgrades but construction and research terminals work as expected
• no access to purple systems since you cant do the mission chain, so looks like no giant gases/planets and the other new terrain gen planets
• distress signals still work if you activate them from observatories, can find crashed ships that way
• not sure, but I doubt you can get a freighter

getting upgrades and tech will just be RNG grindfest of looking through damaged machinery, crashed ships

cant even do derelict freighters, afaik they wont even spawn as random encounters if the system is abandoned

a small thing I noticed, during They who returned, after crossing Atlantideum charged portal and spawning in space you will be next to an Atlas Station and after a moment that "New Atlantid" thing will spawn too

bc player spawns looking to other way you are likely to miss it

I can't really say much about it flying so far (all we have are a few references in offshoot structs and textures, no model either), but it looks like you'd be able to build on it and have friends visit it potentially (much like a freighter). What could potentially set it apart (if it even makes it into the final game) from freighters is beyond me, unless of course they do indeed fly
