a new race is exciting, just imagine all the customization opportunity
Playable Diplo confirmed!?!?!?
I'm excited for pirate stuff
That pirate freighter up there looks like it’s blowing an entire fleet to shreds
Yeah I heard there was going to be some more space combat? Or am I wrong?
i would love to have a freighter class above captial
even if its another capital ill be stoked, cause it looks amazing
Super star destroyer type freighter shows up
as long as it doesnt have 2 antennas RIGHT OUTSIDE THE EXIT
Death Star appears
That hooded autophage(?) looks badass
Wait no autophages look different
I already forgot bruh
If those are all customizable characters
no biggie its not like they do anything in the game
I’d love to use the one on the right
That living ship in the back doing its own thing
Also looks like there will be a new backpack
Bread 👍
that makes me expect new Korvax lore, since the robots/constructs and living ships are connected to them
Bread 👍
Bread 👍
Alright lets go to korvax prime, its not like its already been obliterated for eons
good source of materials if you know what i mean
An /echo/ of korvax prime
Cant stop staring at that poster
Wonder what lore justification will be used to introduce these new bots
Or will they just exist
cant wait for the trailer and patch notes
I cant play until September
i am addicted
Actually its probably for the best because even if the update came right now my playstation would crumble
And i’d wait a few weeks anyways for patches
fair
I got to move Saturday and pack Friday, so if it releases Thursday I got half a day to play:/
cant wait to see how the game looks, havent fired it up since i bought a new PC and ill finally have an excuse to
Then starfield launches and I still have to finish baldurs gate ect ect lol
Leak was Thursday is release date
Oh okay
So expect a trailer possibly tommorow
Awesome
But noting is positive, so who knows
Yeah maybe I shouldn’t get as excited then
The origins poster and Echoes poster are tied rn for the best
I haven’t seen the origins poster
Nothing wrong being excited
No Man’s Sky Oranges
Oh nvm I have seen that
Could be the streamlined jetpack from expedition, it has a square camera
The weird staff things have me interested
Same
I’m gonna be going around and smacking sentinels in the face with a stick 😂
Gonna be fun if it’s a melee weapon
Giant walker being one of the trillions of robots being used as overwatch for the universe getting dismantled by a fancy stick
HELL YEAH!!
origins?
God I hope it’s a melee weapon
TAKE THAT! wack
Space combat sounds pretty cool aswell
I’m hyped
That was the old update
In my spare time I’d usually just shoot sentinel dreadnoughts
The new one is No Mans Sky: Echoes
another one? ohhhh
Yep
Imagine the station override still never gets a purpose
😭
💀
I’m gonna start making a time travel machine so I can go to the future and then share what the update is
Hold one brb
Damn bro I just checked out the update
And it still doesn’t have a purpose 💀
Its just another expedition
but with 10 phases
Omg
POV: EA bought NMS
Lolll
You land on a pad and you get a message that says “Parking fee $9.99”
😬😂
at this point? Gladly.
A straight up nightmare.
Yup
tangerine dream

does anyone know if update is coming today?
Apparantly tomorrow.
dang
:(
How can you tell?
There's two articles online saying so.
Insider gaming and gamesradar, though the latter got removed.
Maybe we'll get the trailer today :/
When you realize the update is releasing in about 24 hours or less. 👀
Hopefully the trailer releases today
i wish it was today instead
Same. I thought it would be unti l I read those articles.
😡
Well the article said it'd release 24.8. Kinda seems like it's supposed to release at least a day before the update
wouldn't it say "releasing today" otherwise
I find it weird how one article talked about Echoes and got taken down almost instantly, and then another one popped up just a few hours after it and it stayed up.
maybe because that one didn't reveal spoilers whilst the other one did?
They say pretty much the same stuff.
New race, freighter battles, staff.
I think the first one mentioned freighter battles include trenches like in Star Wars.. maybe that was inacurate cause I seriously can't believe NMS has collision that good now lol
I see the trailer coming out today
I'm so used to getting stuck in invisible stuff while enemy ships phase through freighters.
i hope the battles are more than just trenches
Not a single tweet for about a day now. Hopefully we don't see a delay lol.
Is this legit?
yup
I saw this yesterday, thoughts?
Probably means ownable space stations will be in the echoes update hopefully
So I was thinking about it more and everything in that article has actually already happened, if you think about it
i hope so
The new robot race was already introduced with the singularity expedition so we already knew that
Not exactly
Like what?
A space station is shown in the cover art for the first time so they're definitely getting some attention.
Though I was hoping they'd get overhauled like the leaks showed us.
Well, the Construct was related to the Sentinels, this will be a "long-hidden race",
but we never saw the actual race being alive and well, we constructed one
now we're likely going to meet intact ones who are hiding who knows where
and judging from the cover art, we're seeing some variation in their appearances
But the "rituals" they had us perform was expedition 10
Echoes cover art?
This one?
Right there will for sure be new NPCs but nothing in the article related to content is new
Yeah.
We knew w there would be a new race already because that was the whole point of the expedition
the writer probably paraphrased too liberally
I'm thinking they didn't even have any actual info
lol I won't believe the Star Wars trenches thing until I see it.
I also wonder if they will do proc gen improvements to the terrain perhaps cause in the origin update which was about 3 years ago there were some big terrain improvements but I don’t know if in the patch notes for echoes there will be any terrain improvements cause I am pretty sure it’s just the new robotic alien race and some quality of life changes cause nothing been leaked about proc gen so unfortunately I don’t think there will be proc gen improvements but oh well still love what hello games are doing
I think that they were talking about sentinel freighter
definitely no trenches, it will probably just be like sentinel freighter battles
Exactly and sentinel freighter battles were already added
and maybe the rituals are for getting the variation of the customizations
What in the article is new that we haven't done already
The rituals were the singularity expedition and the reward for the expedition was the construct customization
Already happened
its now being extended to pirates, people have been asking for it since ages
a question mark proboly nothing connected but you never know
but there's more head and body designs just judging from the cover art
also ownable station could be troublesome in popular system depending what you can do
I disagree that the terrain was improved.
All they did was add new planets that has the same exact terrain but just restretched and resized carelessly. The terrain looks like someone's very first introduction to 3D modeling. It's just gross smooth sinewaves across the whole surface with 0 care for the player's experience or navigation.
Those have been like that for years, not related to this update most likely
Some people actually think the echoes cover art is AI generated and fake for some reason
Senior couch game dev in chat
Freighters should probably get more attention
Are those customization options or are those just the new NPCs? I think they're just new NPCs
We really need a proc gen overhaul I'm sick of seeing the same planets every screenshot and people acting like it's amazing new and unique.
Yeah that’s a new race for sure
❔
better npc interation too
Agreed, maybe planets with more biomes?
progen chats
The cover art is the only thing I believe is real
use ai in npcs become really sentient
That’s an awesome idea for NMS
Maybe animals will become sentient?
Yea I suppose that’s right they added in new terrain but again it’s a bit yea all over the place but that’s what happens when they don’t know to do perfect proc gen I guess it’s hard but hay at least ray rod the modder is making infinite variation for everything in no man’s sky it’s not ready yet but he seriously is a genius
new NPCs but its being placed in the same 3 spots as previous cover arts that were for the player customizations, and by past experience we'll definitely get the same customizations as the new NPCs even if its not all of them like how we cant look like certain Traveller NPCs
indervidual repuation should be added and affects there relations as well
Trenches?
They need to ditch the biome system like their original pitch said and just incorporate true procedural generation that is akin to the super formula or whatever. Right now the game feels more like random generation tbh.
That's a fair point, I suppose I could see good arguments on either side, we'll just have to see, I'll be happy either way honestly
closer to the sun but with differnt atmosuhere hotter colder ect
just waiting to see what else they will add for the update, cuz most gaming journalists only cover just the very biggest stuff
Multiple biomes in each planet
I feel like HG will complete this “superformula” and implement it to the game, I know lots of people have no more hope for planet variety but it’s coming. I bet you
only some planets like irl murcury is basically all one biome
Basically the article is implying this is what it'll look like fighting freighters. Scaling their surface with our ships and looking for weak points to take them down.
Seems like a really fun thing
there's no way we're getting that lol
Well that’s will be awesome if it’s like that, but we will have to wait and see
That does seem nice
It should've been the #1 thing to come to game to compete with Starfield. I feel proc gen was the only way to make the game feel truly fresh. This content will only be good for a month.
after discvering the 1000 planets yeah
I am absolutely certain it will just be like fighting sentinel freighters, or just a variation of the freighter rescue random events except in this case you actually shoot the freighter down
which will take 6 hours
But we don’t know EVERYTHING that’s coming in this update
Terrain effects so many other systems. I don't doubt they could do it, but what is the advantage? I imagine it'd have to come with content that makes it worth the change which would be too huge. Or maybe it takes a small team years
hire ea
I feel the article listed the biggest changes everything is medium to small.
Yea probably no proc gen improvements rip
If there is anything else. I want to have hopium but man it's hard.
There's no pleasing the overhaul proc gen people genuinely
become ea to boost updates and team $20 per save $0.99 to change settings ect
Superformula this and superformula that
most update articles follow the same pattern, only highlight the content that's based on the name and almost nothing else, lot of the QoL stuff HG does ends up being pretty significant sometimes
was it even proven to have existed in the first place
I feel like the article was written by someone who didn't play the game and they just wrote down what they were told might be in the update, whether they got their guesses from an official hg rep or just from Reddit we don't know lmao
Not true I think everyone would be happy if we at least got Pathfinder levels of procgen.
Exactly!
they probably used the content hg gave them
most other sites are also probably ready with their articles cued on time
They won’t reveal every big thing about the update
There’s a whole lot we don’t know about
The two articles were writen as if they haven't played the update at all and only wrote what HG told them to write.
They could have written the same article with exactly the same info if they had only seen the trailers for interceptor and singularity, if they didn't know anything about the game previously
You guys giving me a fresh supply of hopium ❤️
What the procgen people still do not understand is terrain variation aint the issue, its planetary colouring of fauna and whatnot
Only thing suspicious about the article, is they talk about the game coming out in the future. So it seems like it was meant to come out when it was released. So either they didn't understand the timeline, or it's all speculation
Maybe they'll release thr trailer today?
I almost guarantee this would come with a universal reset which if true would destroy multiple communities
Cause this is meant to be the anniversary update so it’s got to be good I am sure it will be hopefully unless it’s a let down but I’ll try not be negative
Trailer gets released after the update most the time
👍
NMS doesn't compete with starfield though
I agree for the most part but my only complaint about terrain is its to smooth and stretched looking at times I want some chances of sharp rugged voxel terrain pre Atlas Rises.
My actual issue with procgen still stems from the fact there's just too many POIs EVERYWHERE on planets
Love watching the trailer and reading the patch notes. I usually wait to play until those come out
I mean like usually the trailer releases at approximately the same time as the update, but like minutes later
Only exception are dead moons
Yeah exactly, I just wasn't specific
I don't think pre 1.3 terrain gen would ever come back honestly
But I totally agree with you tho, I think it's highly likely that the article was written purely on speculation
It'd look very weird in comparison to other planets available now
I could also imagine someone writing an article unaware of timelines
yeah I doubt its actually coming tomorrow, probably got the details or something wrong which is likely why it got taken down
I feel it wouldn't be out of place if they actually had old planets spawn in and just referred to it as a glitched or corrupted system that contains planets with old pre next assets and generation. I mean abandoned systems already have legacy stations why not take it further and have legacy planets as well?
Oh for sure, regardless of whether there's any truth to the content of the article it certainly should not have been released when it was, that's why a lot of us wonder if it was an intentional leak
They could spawn these glitched or corrupted systems and it'd fit with the story and prevent a reset if they spawn them in like Dissonance systems.
Yea that would add so much more variety if they could do that, that would be awesome
I don't think they have any intention on moving backwards with anything
I don't know they know a portion of the fan base miss the old version of the game. I remember a long time ago around NEXT or Beyond or somewhere in between they released player counts for each version and they were keeping a track of what versions people were playing but I was never able to find the tweet it's like Sean deleted it.
I think they stopped the count at Atlas Rises funnily enough.
I sometimes go crazy trying to find it once in a while but nothing. It's sad because it was a very interesting cryptic post.
Well hopefully Sean is listening to us proc gen fans and will improve upon it hopefully soon maybe
FIngers crosssed for trailer todayyyyy
Not every planet is gonna be completely unique honestly no matter how much they try
I see people claim the modded game looks better and its just overly bright colours that clash with the current artstyle to such a level that it looks garish.
They just need to be more unique then they are now.
Kid named Fingers:
I will never understand why people shit on and down variety when it's supposed to be a EXPLORATION GAME
The problem is we were sold on exploration and all the updates we got only downgraded and water that aspect down.
NMS isn't just for exploration though
Ill always want more variety and HG knows we want it, we need to be patient
I am sure they can alter the proc gen engine and make it more unique but I must say coming up with advanced algorithms for proc gen especially for totally unique terrain that looks nice and unique will be hard and tiresome so I don’t blame them not doing proc gen improvements
It was pretty evident around NEXT or whenever it was that they're using the whole pillars of design thing.
You're high if you think the original marketing was targeted towards anything else but exploration. Every other pillar was just extra.
its not lmaoi
yeah lol
what more can they add to exploration though minus just making things look different
Add more assets for the proc gen algorithms to use
That's the whole point of exploration is having different things to see. They need to add more procgen stuff not handcrafted stuff.
Couple more models, textures, sounds mixed with older assets will add lots of variety
What's with the hostility btw
I'm not against them doing it but I fail to see what it actually adds to the game other than more things to look at.
the proc gen is not easy to make though so I don’t expect them to do it cause the only person who looks like they may achieve it is ray rod the modder but it’s still to be announced
It's not like there's no reasons to explore either
I'm sick of people down playing how important procgen is when it's literally the main selling point of the game for fucks sake they still use that everything is procedural in their videos and it's always kind of annoying tbh.
The game needs to focus more on its original vision.
It's one of those things people will never realize how important it is until it actually happens officially from HG and not modders.
Who is downplaying it
And the original vision is probably never gonna happen
See this is why I think more updates like Interceptor are needed
It added new planet types, it gives context as to why they exist, and you have reasons to return if you want to keep your Interceptor ship fueled and whatnot.
That I'd not mind
Interceptor is a great update because it adds more procgen to the game with the ships and depthins however the new planets aren't really that expanded its just handcrafted assets and a purple gradient applied to Origin style planets.
It works within the context of what a dissonant planet is.
Yea we need more origin style updates for sure but I don’t know if they could do it
The thing about exploration is, you can't simply add more assets and noise formulas and call it a day. People will always eventually start seeing the patterns and desire more. There's also a limit to computing.
Meaningful exploration can only be acquired by tying in intriguing gameplay loops around it, as well as other reasons to explore. "More of this" will never satisfy those who desire to explore until infinity.
You keep saying handcrafted like its a fact
I mean if the Atlas ends up dying and needs to reset they could use that as a story excuse to reset the whole simulation with better variety.
Procedural generation only goes so far
They’re adding more proc gen to different things in NMS right now, not terrain at the moment
Like sentinel ships are amazing for their variety
Derelict freighters
They could but they'd piss off multiple communities who play the game and they'd have to rebuild basically EVERYTHING
Thousands of hours work lost
Exactly! Would call them one of the most varied ship class to date. Easily goes way past solar ships
Precisely what I want
RayRod mentioned most of the variety added with fauna and other stuff doesn't contain procedural parts.
And the thing about sentinel ships is, there's a little bit of new gameplay tied to them!
Then perhaps make fauna procedural with different colours and whatnot which I mentioned before
Colors are predetermined and limited but the added fauna is all the same model.
No variety and limited color pool
Yea it really needs to be procedural rather than just assets but I don’t know if hello games have the capability to do it
All procgen has limits and you will see repetition no matter how hard hg try
Unless they just try taking off limits and you get very glitchy things that start trying to mash together textures that do not mesh at all.
We also need to keep in mind art direction, accessibility and so on. Things about entertainment products that can't be disregarded. Letting the scripts run rampant and add true infinite variety would literally result in unplayable scenarios for some visually impaired
Not if it's set up a certain way open up any blender file that contains any procedural geo nodes you could literally get infinite variation. HG just don't want to do it.
Plus performance constraints are a thing
You don't know that for sure though
It's not as simple as just opening a file and changing a number
But maybe it’s too demanding for their game engine not sure though
Things like infinite color palette or model combinations will inevitably result in things that would make the game look like some random asset flippers first unity project rather than a refined piece of gaming art
It's pretty close to infinite maybe not literally but it can generate quintillions of unique versions though since it could go positive and negative.
I wonder why there not using this tech yet
It's more of allowing the engine to do it real time and the performance.
Engine is not the limitation in this case. Rather the manpower to ensure that true infinity wouldn't result in an undesired end product.
The engine could do it but how it will affect performance for real time generation is the problem. Like Blender has good performance but not sure how it would do doing 8 planets at a time lol
NMS engine is way underutilized in terms of proc gen but nothing HG can do about it unless they hire a plethora of QA testers to ensure the potential infinity wouldn't result in undesired things
you don't have to do 8 planets at a time
Maybe more better optimisation code is needed but again it’s easier said then done
Let the players opt into experimental so they can be the QA testers
The game generates the seeds as you warp in so essentially its doing all the math then.
Would need to give players some additional debug tools too in that case. Not just a simple public bug hunt like our usual experimental branches
but you aren't rendering anything inside the planet yet
Whatever it takes. It would be the best thing to happen to the game in a long long time.
Yeah but the it still takes computing power to generate the math. It can crash lower end systems after a certain point.
A disc can only read and write so vast so it would need to be optimized for it.
lower end systems can't play the game properly anyways
The game is already smart on how it distributes and draws objects it's more so the warping in and actual generating stuff that would cause issues.
However they can optimize it.
But that could take thousands of people to optimize to that extent and hello games don’t have that many people so I don’t know if they will do proc gen improvements soon
Do you just want another visions style update?
I mean HG can still do a big chunk of improvements now without needed to push the absolute max.
Nah origins style update would be nice
visions wasn't very good
Like someone above said they're only using a small fraction of what there engine is capable of now. If they could push close to that current limitation we're talking e3 styles of variety.
they have an insane amount of variable pieces, unlike many others
I don't think we'll see an origins style update this year
There's that whole story arc thing they're still doing.
Yeah.
I'm thinking next year will see a procgen update.
I'm happy that the story is finally moving forward. Been so long since the Ariadne and Abyss cliffhanger years ago
Maybe some trade and survival improvements even?
Story and lore is one of the most underrated parts of NMS. Heckin sad
I don't mind where the current survival stuff is
There's lotsa in depth stuff to delve into.
It'd just get laborious if they added more requirements to survive
Plus, Waypoint added difficulty options if you want to make survival aggravating.
I personally don't mind either but it'd be nice to have more depth though.
Probably because it's text based and scattered across various places. Most people would want their story delivered through voice and cinematics between all the gameplay
Sad modern day standards
It's not so much about harder difficulty it's more about the depth of the survival mechanics.
RP and ear
All imma say is let HG cook
It does
Hell yeah it does
There is couple of interesting things about that artwork
The debris around the space station in top right corner, what could they be
And the central figure of Atlas Interface, looks like the bits are falling off
Further corruption of Atlas? Could it be linked to the introduction of the new race?
One of the lore bits mentioned that Atlas simulated the reality over and over again, always ending up with the three primary races
And now due to whatever events, a fourth race emerges. How will that affect the simulation?
Could it trigger a BSOD for Atlas?
A race of Echoes following the Void Mother? Could it be?
RSOD
Means to prevent death.
Red is normal operation, blue would be the error
Skibidi Atlas
They just look like asteroids to me.
🤯
Or
Sean releases the real atlas in atmosphere and we all get starships irl and begin space age
There were leaks of a space station visual overhaul in the files at one point
It made the stations look very high tech and alien from the outside, I hope they never scrap that idea
Also we never got anything with that space station core code ya know?
Yeah the new artwork shows off a space station for the first time, but it's the current ones. Dunno what's that about.
I doubt this update is going to do that. This one might just revolve around the new race and pirate freighters etc
I don’t think Sean is going to create an update the size of beyond or the scale of next for a while.
What really gets my underbits tingling is that this is only going to be part 3 of 4
I don't think there will ever be something like Next again simply because that update overhauled the entire game back when the game didn't have as much content as it does now.
I don't think they could overhaul the whole game in it's current state.
WE STILL HAVE ANOTHER ONE AFTER THIS
I'm saying this update is going to add new gameplay mechanics and stories and new NPCs and content, then part 4 could be an update to procgen variation, chefs kiss omfg that would be absolutely beautiful
Still no steam DB update :(
The last few updates it's been really fast
We'll probably get an internal branch like right before it drops
Maybe like an hour or so
I'd love to be wrong tho
Trailer today 🤞🤞
there was one last Friday so
Tomorrow. 👀
That was a patch
ah
i doubt it
Why
Trailers don't usually come out till the release of an update
And we've already had the teaser trailers
Yeah I wouldn't count on it
Really excited bout the staff
I want a wizard character piloting a scifi space ship
But yes i am very excited if it is true
A new robot race too
Altho i am always excited

Nms updates bring out my crazy for games
Damn it man I just hope Sean says something today at least
Even just a ❔
Or a poster

Lol

THAT GEK IS SO CUTE.
it almost makes me forget about the atrocities that it committed, almost
Sean come oooonnn :(
Pls
:(
That's Polo
oh nvm hes cool
1 day to go, unless you are on switch
Oof.
Steam usually comes first and then Xb and ps a few hours later
I remember how Steam was last when it came to Interceptor. Even the trailer and patch notes were up and Steam still didn't wanna give us the update.
trailer, notes and even the update but to consoles
Then you'd go to steamdb and you'd see they kept plopping a new build every half hour. xD
Yeah it usually is. It's just that sometimes stuff breaks and I guess they ran into trouble with the Steam build for Interceptor.
So someone pointed out that the image is cropped to 1543x872 and this is what it would look like if it was 1920x1080.
Origins had it's cover art revealed before the update as well and that was also cropped originally.
Theres a version of the image thats 2048 x 1140
Wonder what the pink smoke is
Wasn't that one AI upscaled?
That one just looks resized. There's artifacting in the pic.
oh
still no any new info about Echoes, It's already Thursday here. There seems to be no updates today😢
Well it's still 5 more hours of Wednesday here in Europe. 😄
Sean always posts a new tweet the day before the update.😢
If the update is to be released on Thursday, there should be a new tweet on Wednesday.🤔
That's a big if
I sincerely doubt we'll see anything more today
I doubt that yesterday's leak caused HG to change the release time of the new version.
Numa Numan's Sky
Update's come early to mid morning for me, eastern U.S., typically.
like 1pm GMT
As I recall
:(
so it should be here when i wake up :0
That's a 2.4MB png containing what looks like a JPEG compressed down to 150K. Crap quality on that image within.
My guess is Sean will start a reminiscent string of tweets in the next 2-5 hours and then it will land tomorrow around noon GMT.
He'll mention Switch, PSVR2, Mac, etc.
( Mac version is quite nice. )
I wouldn't bet on it. 🙂
That robot on the left looks kind of like a rabbit.
It'll be midnight for them by then.
More like 15 hours from now I'd say.
Let's make it 16.
I think it will launch 20 hours from now.
Don’t updates release in the morning EST time?
That left robot might look more like a rabbit than this explorer (which looked to me like Robbit, the rabbit-looking robot from the superb PSX game, Jumping Flash.)
If an update was tomorrow theoretically I'd look at around a 1 to 3pm uk time trailer
So that'd be like
I think a trailer and launch will happen around 1pm UK time.
Hello games actually broke tradition
Wdym?
no emoji
By not releasing it on a wednesday
Maybe there was no emojis to represent the update
Yeah it’s interesting
a stupid question, how did you send this time text
He posted the emoji on Facebook.
Everyone else: "Elon bad amiright, Sean left Twitter."
Me: "....Maybe it's a bit he's doing? Echoes? Annoucement echoed to another platform?"
chance the trailer drops during gamescom indies showcase?
probably pretty low
frankly dont even remember when HG ever showed up at a con
no trailer huh? damn, thought for sure I'd wake up to one
we'll probably get one at 9am est tommorrow when the update drops
The best part is when the update is available on Steam even before Sean starts his usual speech.
i hope we get it at 630AM EST
Haha really?
Yeah, usually I download it before he's finished and reveals the patch notes.
Are we allowed to talk about the article here
we have been already
Was the emoji the question mark
Yep.
echoes implies to me something a bit more substantial, like long term content. Instead of just one thing, the leaks are implying more of this. Showing what appears to be substantial changes to space stations, and honestly what I thought those unlocks in the expedition were going to be all along, an entirely new race.
atleast going by the cover
We now have a third machine race in the game so like half of life in the galaxy is robotic at this point
Korvax
what was the first?
Sentinels ofc
Sentinels korvax and now the new guys
gonna rub this one in. I was RIGHT.
#no-mans-sky message
#no-mans-sky message
Some travelers are also robots
i called that shit the second I saw it.
I wonder if what -null- is counts as a robot
i always thought it was a sentient gravitino ball that had somehow obtained a mechanical apparatus to move around.
bro what thats what i thought
Apollo is too machine
Tell Apollo he's a robot.
Cough.
someday i'd love to see the game go "fuck it" with story and have some kind of event happen whether the atlas is restored or within the world of glass is an intact backup of everything within it.
Just so we could see all these one off traveller race designs all with a bit more customization, and spread out apon the universe like the current 3 (to be 4) races.
it be a herculean task but it be amazing to see what would be in a way a unified simulation
also either this guy is a major important character, or this is yet again another new multi-tool type.
a wizard staff multitool sounds fucking awesome.
I think the latter. There's been datamines of these guys walking around on settlements in robes and holding staffs
could also be the former, unique npc variety. not a singular important character just a unique entity
I WANT ROBE AND STAFF
you get augment by using tech scrolls imagine
Space WIZARDS
Space Wizard Money Gang
oh god wait. that would literally be a korvax with this staff
Who needs a gun with BIG METAL ROD
Baldurs gate 3 crossover with classes and RPG mechanics
I shall smack my enemy's with my staff
I wonder, will the head on the staff talk to us?
elmo fire meme
i hope we get more "weapon" multitools, staff, maybe a laser sword, etc
😭😭 bro a dream
heres a better question, i wonder with a new race, will we see npc opponents and not just sentinels
maybe these staff guys are new enemy types as well?
yes please
I mean it makes sense they may be enemies of the atlas, the atlas kinda screwed them over
also puts into question whether they are a race we can become?
hah, those fools in the hype channel think the update is coming next week
maybe they are exclusively meant to be neutral enemies, who become hostile if we attack
still find it odd that it's coming on a thursday though
Isn't there some nms game meetup today?
I thought they might release the trailer at that then launch tommorow
apparently a trailer is happening tomorrow?
WHEN IS THIS UPDATE
Leaked article says tommorow
If leak is to be believes - tomorrow
imagine that the whole leak was a move by Sean to make the real update hit way harder
Who knows
Maybe it's to temper expectations, that's why it included station A and not station B
i mean, this being the anniversary update Sean could have very well just asked the journalists to make a fake article
provided them with some fake art, too
could be cool, but very unlikely
Oh my god when is this trailer dropping 😂
What were the anniversary updates in the past?
I can't contain myself
It will drop when you stop expecting it
I believe Origins, Next, Beyond, Frontiers and Waypoint
all pretty chunky updates
I'm still not over how at the start of the summer didn't they say this was supposed to be fairly massive, or did it mean it's implications where massive on the game universe
As this is a spoilers channel, is it fair game to talk about the leaks?
that's the point of this channel yeah
I think endurance instead of waypoint
i hope we can get that guys outfit
Waypoint was still pretty huge QoL wise, so i think that one was the anniversary update
endurance was the update that changed freighters right?
yeah
I feel like thats a bit much
neat
I say endurance because it was released a week after the anniversary
wasn't it released a month earlier?
I'm wondering how all this content will be presented
some time at the end of july i think
... in a trailer.
I thought it was late august
I meant in the game 😂
gaaaah give us a trailer sean
we've always gotten the trailers on update day
:(
so in about 14 or so hours we should be getting the trailer and patch notes at the very least
I think every trailer the past like 10 updates has dropped 9am EST on a Wednesday before the update comes out. So if it's tomorrow maybe 9am trailer
I'm hoping the leak about the staff is true. A new type of MT to play around with would be cool.
EST as in Eastern Time? I'm in EST and it's 3:30pm here.
Yeah same
wonder if it will have its own hardware?
It's just usually been on Wednesday, if it's tomorrow then could be 9am
...just realized I misread your post. I gotta stop scrolling Discord in the heat.
it's all good I'm at work for a job that I'm leaving in 2 days so I'm screwing around on discord
Nice.
I think he did something like that for Origins, describing it as a very small update or something lol
this is litteraly what im thinking
while i do think its very likely they do intentionally leak stuff to build hype in a way that absolves them of responsibility.
I don't think anything leaked is fake
it's not like this is the first time some publisher or website or whatever has accidentally shown something a little early
Aren't the Korvax robots?????
Looks like insider-gaming just used the leaked article as reference "Insider Gaming will have more on the update when it’s fully revealed by Hello Games."
Assuming the leak is true, what's the difference between a robot race and the korvax?
Time, different stages of evolution I guess
i see korvax as more like... synthetic creatures, akin to something living with synthetic "organs" and parts
whereas these are just full on machines, with no real attempt to look or feel organic
Aka, they don't have nanites within them
that too
Still confusing
Robots with produced organic components more akin to androids, vs just straight up robots

I wonder if these new bots will appear on station type B In uninhabited systems like red star systems
The Insider Gaming article doesn't mention star wars like trenches for freighter battles.
I won't believe that until I actually see it in the game, I just assume that the first article didn't have their facts right.
I really hope that space station type Bs will show up in this update
Also it's assumable that the new robots are either not a hivemind or a different hivemind than the korvak
Im gonna laugh so hard if none of this is true
Need to look more into that lore from the last expedition
If it's fake that is going to be funny
But the art asset seems to be most believable
Could the origional leak just got the art and made assumptions based on that xD
I mean everything mentioned was in the pic except general improvements
We're gullible, all of us
Which could be assumed
They legit just got the leaked piece of art and ran with it
The poster doesn't even have text on it
Though if it's real, flat landscape into mountains 👀
That's for next?
Remember that a lot of the specifics of artwork isn't accurate to the game
It will 100% be tomorrow because I am busy.
I know lol
I hope so too, but the artwork shows the current space stations.
..But then I wonder why is a space station shown.
Exactly. Why would they feel the need to add that space station illustration.
Maybe the new race is taking some of the abandoned systems
And renovates the abandoned space stations?
Fresh coat of paint, new plumbing, fixing the lights, etc
But it'll be so weird to have both station types. Like the artstyle would clash.
Anything official for Echoes yet?
:(
Huh that's surprising, guess they'll release stuff tomorrow same time as it comes out
In about 16 hours from now. Calling it. 👀
Finally, cant wait for the update
This one is looking interesting
New lore, new mechanics, a staff?, new robot races, its so good.
Assuming it's real
Which at this point I'm not so sure about
It's weird though since the article was written as if the update was coming at a later date instead of it being same day.
Why wouldn't it be real?
Its been reported on by two gaming websites now
Very true
The second gaming website could have easily gotten it from the leaked article even saying something along the lines of "will talk more when hello games reveals it"
That's true i guess
The image itself doesn't have the normal text you would see for an update I believe with the update title and game name
I assume the author of that second article has a twitter, someone should ask him
And everything the first article describes is assumed from the image they have, no direct part of update from what it seems
Both articles read to me as if they were pushed too early
It could just be including the main features showcase from the image but I'm not holding my breath
I really think the second article was just written because of the first one
Not because hello games actually gave them info
I don't use twitter
"Insider Gaming will have more on the update when it’s fully revealed by Hello Games." That's what makes me think it
So it is all based on the first article in my eyes
Just wait and see, but my assumption is it could be fake
maybe thats true, dunno
The first article was either pushed early on accident or intentionally, at this point I don't think it matters which it was
but the second one is definitely them trying to get early on the info and get clicks because we're all eager for more info, so more of us go clicking looking for something
That is very true to me, my friend.
and as for whether it's true or not, i know HG likes to keep quiet, but I feel like if a completely false leak that appeared 100% genuine got out, they would say something
i hate how time is moving so freaking slow
Why do people think it's fake
I think it's reasonable to be skeptical
it appeared suddenly, had just a little bit of info, and then vanished
better to be a little wary of something you don't know 100% for sure is true, accurate, and real, than to blindly assume it's all completely correct and feel lied to or cheated if it turns out to be false somehow
I will say though that if it was fake, the art is an incredible feat of forgery
yes, I said this last night. the only source for the second article is a link to the webcache of the first article. I 100% believe the second people have no first-hand info about the update
so anything they say in that second article shouldn't be trusted as true
well if it drops tommorow we will know
I'm almost certain it will
why have a sale going if you're going to release halfway through the sale instead of right near the start, wouldn't you want to maximize the sale time with the update time to draw in more people?
pretty certain it will since the 1st article said the 24th. they wouldn't have reason to lie about it, unless HG changes the release date at the last second
gotta agree with ya
Epoch time
<t:(numbers):F>
You have to use an Epoch converter
What if the article got taken down because it was wrong and HG took action?
It's theoretically possible, but I feel they still would have made a statement about it somewhere
Unlikely
HG are silent af I doubt they'd say anything does anyone remember the "say hello" thing back at launch/Foundations I think it even happened again around Atlas Rises/NEXT era to.
Some people even think the new poster is fake and ai generated
Which is false, I’d be very surprised
Yeah that’s true
Internal branch just updated!!!!
IT'S PAST MIDNIGHT, UPDATE RELEASING TODAY HYPE.
WHAAATTTTTTTR
Tomorrow for some people, today for me.
Did that article say PSVR2 and Switch optimizations? Or did I dream that or something? Re: Echoes.
Not that I'm personally waiting in suspense for that -- I play on PC and Mac but do have VR on PC and would not mind some PSVR2 optimizations come across to PC.
It did
The drawing of the launch CD hoorah?
Yes
Well, it said there were performance improvements, and that those two platforms see it the most
They did Innes well there. I quite like that sketch.
Yea, PC is still the dev platform - PC will prob see most of the tweaks for VR. VR got way cleaner on PC when the PSVR2 update came in Jan or Feb. Was nice to see.
DONT SAY THIS
DONT
HOLY SHIT you arent kidding
Let's goooo!!!
Yea, I still think it will be ~15 hrs from now for Public/Exp.
Big releases like this almost never go PC Experimental first - Public and Experimental update same time.
They already broke the mold by releasing on a Thursday lol
I think they only did that - or part of that - for the switch to Vulkan ahead of VR.
tommorow morning im guessing
back in 2019
Depends on where you are. I'm guessing you're U.S. west coast, from that.
Est
If only Swatch had succeeded 20 years ago in getting the world to adopt Swatchtime.
/Alas
Exactly.
everyone uses the same time
They probably trying to just get announced before the world is swamped in that other game's release.
Oh it's called Swatch Internet Time or ".beat" time - huh. You can google it.
Wow from 1998. Anyway, end of divergent commentary.
Does the internal branch update mean something
the update is coming soon
Ok
WOO
Tmrw as expected

Looking at Seans twitter I wonder why the mac article has such a old screenshot especially when the game just came out on mac.
So who is digging into the internal update code to see what clue may be in it?
Hmmm yeah
how do you even do that
aww
Not me
Oh yeah.
So a new race of buildable robots and now staff thing and FREIGHTER BATTLES?
Can't wait to see what the frieghter battles might be.
Until then, back to Spacebourne 2.
So usually what time zone does it release?
generally 9am est
It's past midnight in the UK now.
I'd say the update will release in 10-15 hours from now.
And remember consoles usually take a lil longer than steam
Im going to say that the update will release in 13hours and 30 minutes
I’m gonna use this ship in the ‘freighter battles’, interested to see how hard it is
in my opinion, this is definely the largest summer update, the atlas is on the leak image, as always they do whit the biggest summmer update
nah thats good
I know its pretty weak, but it will work
Imagine that space station interiors are gigantic and procedural in this update
thatd be so sick
that will be good
125k dps not enough for the update
imagine that you could buy plots in the big ole space station
Oooh
also it looks like the size of the internal branch update is 12.61GB
How you even get that number?? Mine have 15k dps 😕
would be good, on the game, the dataminer have finded, new exterior model of space station, and have loaded it, is so amazing
@tough nimbus well, I have perfect x class infra knife upgrades and then a perfect square sc layout on the interceptor ship
You just need to find a interceptor or fighter with a square supercharged layout
And how much of sc layout is max? I got 3
@tough nimbus an s class ship with enough tech slots unlocked will unveil 4 supercharged slots
Every ship has a different layout, you need to find one with a square one
👍
I can send you portal glyphs to a ship like that if you want, or maybe you’d rather look for yourself
They are really rare
I do like to explore more, its so much fun for me
Also if you couldn’t tell I was joking earlier, you definitely don’t need 125k dps. That’s about as crazy as it gets
( sry if my english is bad, Im actually from poland )
No prob 👌
But idk it was possible
Its just soo much
Poland reminds me of Cyberpunk man
One of my fav games
Youre actually a good speaker, cant lie.
This happened .
I thinks it's comin tomorrow mayhaps
I really hope theres more to the update then the article tbh.
there almost certainly is
to what extent, and what specifically, is up in the air
but certainly there will be a long list of changes, fixes, and smaller additions
A few months ago I heard about some rumors that they were upgrading their engine from a 2012 build to a 2022 version. And Steamdb does show a 2022 depot, so maybe performance improvements?
:o
How big is that compared to other updates?
Guys I just spoke to a huge thing and respawned in a random planet with a new ship
That sounds like you met the atlas, but new ship? Uhh
That's the whole game, they reupload the entire game with the new stuff added, so there's no way to tell how much of that is new data just by the internal branch
Brooooo I can’t wait for tomorrow
Probably just 12 hours left
Hopefully
Echoes sounds like such a good update honestly
if the leak is to be believed
Im sure it will be good, I just dont trust the leak
https://insider-gaming.com/details-next-no-mans-sky-echoes-update/ If you look at the dude on the right-hand side of that image, his head is just one of the Sentinel pilots without any decoration. Also, if you look at his backpack thing off his left shoulder, that’s a new backpack that we haven’t seen before. I’m sure this is obvious, and someone else has probably already pointed it out, but I thought I should mention it just in case no one has.
Sentinel pilot?
Honestly I was looking for a robot kind of armor and such and this new race sounds so good
I really hope with those massive pirate freighters that we will be able to get them to use
^
I do
There's art for it
yeah
Holy shit. I think that one robot in the poster with the staff is an Autophage!
The heads are the same
i also believe that
You know what that means? Once the update hits, we'll officially be able to say there's actual dead corpses in NMS.
Cause autophages are basically a dead version of the new race.
true
Dead robit
I thought they were sentinels before they became sentinels
I was interpreting the autophages as some sort of beings trapped in another dimension, and through the corruption are beginning to break out and manifest in the normal universe
Perhaps the creators of the sentinels?
I don't think that's really proven in the lore yet. They may be primitive versions of the sentinels, or maybe they had a different philosophy and were pushed out by a different faction. I would think that the autophage in the art has a "mind" that either came from some stored consciousness, or has been stuck in the Abyss without a physical body
SPACE WIZORDS!!!!!!
I really do wonder if anything said in the article actually will be in the update its set up as if they talked to Sean though and it was written in a way like the article was released possibly a few days to a week before the actual update.
I don't even care if it comes true. I just like saying it... SPOYCE WAZUUURDZ!!
Space Mage = "Spage"
Watch out for my space magic = "spagic"
Update day!!
its 11pm amd i cant sleep
The anticipation is literally killing me tbh.
Well start killing the anticipation back!
See how it likes it.
Me too lol
what going to be miss up is if the update dont come tomorrow as hello games was not the one that said the date. Many as going to be much upset
I'm worried about a delay as well however the internal being updated kind of eases that worry.
Echoes teaser said soon
2 articles said it's releasing today
Branch got updated
Sean.. Facebooked the emoji
Game is 50% off
All the signs are pointing for today. 👀
Honestly. I think Echoes has been delayed but we don't know it because they didn't announce it until after they dealt with whatever issues they ran into.
So they'd avoid another Frontiers situation again.
Fair enough, I mean they said it was the 7 year anniversary update but the anniversary was on the 9th
I remember frontiers was a mixed bag
In terms of reviews
Also waypoint was controversial
Waypoint was a good update imo, but the backlash was absolutely insane
Frontiers was just kinda meh.
Frontiers just came out at the wrong time
would have been received better if it didn't release when people were expecting a big anniversary update
People's expectations often ruin their own enjoyment
This last update was the most fun for me, the expedition had the kind of content I was looking for
It's gunna be hard to create a new save for this update
You want a save around 8 million light years away from the center so you're close to the robots
Robot parts so I could have my mech, sentinel, and quad dog, with my sentinel ship and weapons
I actually liked waypoint
I don't HG has ever really made a bad update. They're always adding new content and now they're connecting older stuff and refactoring
Yeah exactly
9 hours or so to go, in my reckoning.
Usually update drops around 5am to 7am my time.
is echoes gonna have the dripped out space stations
if it dosen't i do not care about the update
Everything is rumor, but...
Station overrides should do something to space stations...something having to do with the Void Realm
And a new race of robots
New space combat with "trenches" similar to the Death Star trench in SW
And some sort of staff that will give us new abilities or something
If half of this is true, should be a sick update
gawh dayum
With the robots confirmed as a new race coming, Im pretty certain the new station design will be used for their systems
That's what I'm thinking
I'm still hellbent on the trench system, what do they mean?
"Void Stations"
because there was a pulse jump encounter in Singularity that matched the style of the new stations perfectly, and it was associated with them
look up star wars trench run
I dunno, a trench run would involve real-time rendering. But improved rendering is apparently on the list of updated features.
I'm seeing the sw trench run now and Bryan here has a point
How would that work
The outlaw freighters would have to be massive
I guess I should go grab some Station Overrides while we're waiting. We might need them pretty soon. 😎
Station Overrides Are In Game No Man's Sky - How To Get One - Captain Steve NMS Guide A portable data drive containing the AI override codes for a Space Station Core. The importance of the station AI core ensures that such keys are both highly regulated and extremely profitable on the black market. It can be gained as a reward from the Autodiag...
The space combat in NMS is still kinda bad.
So I'm hoping it's not too focused on that.
Indeed. Very much so.
Like, neither aim mode works as well as you'd hope.
Still no homing missiles 7 years after launch
Also, Bruce Willis finds out he's dead in the end.
Oh, sorry, wrong spoiler.
Enemies only use 2 weapons against you
According to the leaks can we fight the robots? Are they a new enemy type or are they a new variety of NPCs?
Darth Vader is Nada's father
Snape kills Polo in the sixth book.
It was all a dream.
Sean Murray Twitter notifications: ON, sleep status: NOT HAPPENING, yup it’s no mans sky update eve
We are actually Tyler Durden
We don't even know if it's dropping today. We're just assuming that leak was right.
It still could, but there's been no word from HG officially, right?
What time do the updates usually drop, actually?
No, I'm a new player. Have they ever announced a specific release date before?
Internal branch updated twice, it’s dropping today
What time does it go out, you think?
If not I’ll eat a rock
What if it's an audio QoL update
Internal updates again??
More like infernal updates.
Been here for every single update after atlas rises and overtime they have gradually stopped hyping up updates to the point where all we get usually is the emoji tweet or a title before it drops
Probably fair.
Sometimes the game updates before they even post patch notes and that’s always really fun
And sometimes they drop a trailer the day after or something
When outlaws rolled out last year there was a few hours between the actual update dropping and the patch notes
I was here for that.
Fun stuff
Did you play when Next or Origins hit?
The content drought between Atlas Rises and Next had people foaming at the mouth for a new update and Next did not disappoint lol
Pre release times were fun
Maybe one day we will get an integrated modding support update 💀
👀
I’m glad I was there to see how this game grew up over the years
Same
I loved it then and I love it now
Next dropped when I was still in high school and I honest to god didn’t sleep the night before it came about because I was so excited + someone got the update early and was posting leaked footage in here
I ended up falling asleep on the goddamn floor in front of my desk because it was like 10am and the update still wasn’t out
I only started in Expedition 2.
But now I'm 500+ hours in and made a new file just to walk off the planet.
If I had good internet, I'd stream doing it all over again.
Plus, my first run was before the Waypoint autosave
Today I had some great progress. Found a monolith, and had the materials to locate a portal... but it's a bit of a trek.

I remember the guy leaking NEXT didn't he become a mod on the server?
I had to keep calling my ship to save. But I wouldn't launch obv.
Yeah I think it was Architect
Not quite sure it was 5 years ago now
Man, finding Station Overide missions at pirate stations is quite the easter egg hunt
Not this time 👍
When do you think Sean will X? I mean Tweet?
Whew! Over a dozen Outlaw stations and still no Station Override missions.
RNG is a hell of a thing.
Well that RNG is sure biased towards frigat fuel and prismatic feathers because I've seen tons of those missions in the last 2 hours of warping
!guildford time

vs.
matter there
