and then we're going to add switch people who don't know any different in the mix
ito which value?
6 was an exploit
perhaps they shouldn't have left it as is then for so long for folks to get used to.
But… stat hunters may have reasons to continue hunting \ discovering best upgrade combos. That’s something to think about
Prob
that's still on them. If it wasn't intended, why'd they wait years to change it?
the balance of this game was always a timebomb HG kind of refused to touch until now, this is why
probably because they were busy adding a bunch of other fan requests to the game?
it was so unintuitive, it certainly looked like an exploit to new players.
trying to explain it to new players usually confused them
I haven't fully upgraded my exosuit to the new max tech inventory size yet, so don't know how far it goes yet.
Mate if game allows it its no exploit til the devs state it is
that's entirely a matter of perception
Wait there has to be more
Any stack size change for survival/perma?
How is it going
Let people have different opinions geez dude
i been playin NMS since launch
The update was half the size of the game
Exactly
And just ui
still the same
Sean reveal now
just hit 111 cargo slots in exosuit still going
However, based on the empty spaces, it looks like the new exosuit goes up to 27. But I haven't tested that
Give me a taste of what’s new
They removed general inventory
that sounds unintentional ngl
Can somebody test the limits of exosuit tech size?
look who's talking dude.
i can also have an oopinion that you dont have to agree with
more accurately they merged general and cargo
Woah we’re getting violent now
Does the portable refiner duplication thing still work
Wtf
I'm not the one going around blaming people for an update and then telling them to stop playing for having an opinion
They converted general inventory into cargo
So more storage space overall
nobody is getting violent. why are you suggesting that
they merged general and cago, they didn't really remove anything just streamlined it a bit tbqh
What does the waypoint mean
I'm getting violent...grrrr 😉
i didn't blame anyone for an update.
what are you talking about
This update didn’t even have anything to du with ground
for ships its a bit weird, i literally just thought about it
Despite your violent efforts, the only thing you've manage to break... is his heart. 🥲
Has anyone tested the port refiner duplication
folks, folks
You said it was my fault for minmaxing lol, as if no one else has ever done that and I should have known that 4.0 would do this
so i was confused why my starship had 69 cargo when the update came out, but it was 48 + 21 cargo
I mean playing for the betterment of 4 years does that to people for a spur of the moment change
yet ships still show the third number
you add 3 upgrades attached to the jetpack they all have boarders showing they support that thing but you add a 4th and it says its overloaded.... so people instead add the 3 to it in the general tab then put 3 more in the tech tab an get 6 all supporting without overload.... thats an exploit an not an intentional function....
can we all chill
on ships it's terrible
people are gonna have strong opinions, we're all in this for a chill community and a game we love, take a breath if you need to
What more is there
so my ship was 110+99+21, but the 21 is part of the 110
when the third number seems like it shouldnt be there anymore
it's not an exploit
@muted moth you know if the portable refiner duplication still works
They haven't really released detailed patch notes, so no one really knows. They just said "hundreds of small changes"
if you want to have a ship to be okay on combat, you are forced to remove hyperdrive
seems like a leftover
Mostly inventory changes and UI improvements it looks like
all I can say is for those who have not yet played the update who are getting mad at what they're hearing, give the update some time hands on and after a while you will start to understand why they did the things they did, it might hurt for a moment but it's much more good than it is bad, there's just about to be a huge adjustment period for everyone and we will all love it, I'm sure of it
”Its your fault for minmaxing. Its a you problem”
am I the only one or does the new UI for the inventories look kinda.. unprofessional
icons too small, item numbers look janky
thats not blaming you for an update, im pointing out you made the decision to use your time that way.
thats not disputable
i only glanced at a few ships that landed, but they all had 0 in the third value
Activated indium farms were nerfed
yeeaAAAH
thats not balmign them for an update
lets go
Sounds like blaming idk
To a degree lashing out now is understandable because of perceived nerfing and disappointment \ frustration based on that perception
unknown, sorry, haven't had time to see if someoe tested itout and I'm not on steam
Sounds like a reason to use X class upgrades with the tech change
alright, fuck it im out
i understand why people are mad about this stuff i just don't really agree with it?
When is it coming to Xbox
Emphasis on “to a degree”
Ok <@&590975379678953522> we might need slowmode here its getting heated here
Does anyone know if the portable refiner duplication still works... I just found out about it today lol
i feel like its a bit too soon to get heavily invested in one side or another on the tech stuff since its so early we dont even have the official patch notes yet
Several hours Or a day or so
I might edit my tech back into the cargo slots
Is just game, why you heff to be mad?
You've asked once a minute for like 3-4 consecutive minutes now
a fundamental game reblanace is something i've wanted for a very very long time , but i understand peoples issues
@random drift would you be able to provide an answer by chance
A day?
ty Crow.
5 secs for now
Games as a medium people are emotionally invested 🤷♀️
the main problem with this rebalance is that doesn't fix the balance issue, just makes your gaming experience more frustrating
friendly reminder to everyone, server rules and NMS channel rules still apply
Just a guess based on personal past experience
keep this chat civil
having to changes modules all the time is not a good idea
Alright so what should I do to prepare my save while still in 3.99.1?
No idea
Sorry for that rht

there are some people that have been pretty passionate supporters of NMS and Hello Games that are also disappointed by this update. I get the whole "people dislike change" phenomenon and understand that on a fundamental level if I don't like what a game becomes, I can quit playing it. Doesn't mean it still doesn't suck to be in that situation to begin with. Not sure what I'll do at this point. Perhaps wait and see if any tweaks get made to this, but at some point I'll have to make a decision. I guess enjoy the update? 👍
Yea folks try to keep cool heads 😛
I don't like the idea of months of work just getting deleted due to "rebalancing"
increased to 10 secs now. everyone take a chill pill
It's fine as-is. Inventory sizes aren't shrinking so you won't lose anything AFAIK. If you have too much tech, it's just re-packaged and put into cargo slots
But I want my too much tech
As long as i dont lose anything its fine
This exactly, it doesn't feel balanced at all
put it in tech slots if you like the rolls and dont want it to revert to an installable item
If you want to move any of your upgrades to another ship, put them in your general inventory
tbh, I don't mind the idea of removing general inventory, it's the fact on ships you can't use more than 1 or 2 weapons
every no man has its sky
but a lot of my inventory tech stuff is quest-related - WHAT THE HELL HAPPENS TO THAT
That's a solid idea actually
empty your cargo tab into storage containers and you'll be fine after that
i think a few of my ships normal slots moved to tech too, my tech had 4 laser upgrades in it
It’s interesting to see all this reaction. Wonder how it will come out on medium to long run like a week and then a month from now
changes you feel are wrong/bugs/unintentional, please report to hello games
you are limited to have a fully updated hyperdrive or a fully updated weapon
The photonix core gets repackaged, I imagine story stuff will too
!hg
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
wtf is a photonix core
I still don’t understand a thing
neither do we, frankly

we're really just going off of what's right in front of us?
Regarding space ships, you just change ship and voila
i think photonix core was a preorder exclusive tech upgrade
Alright where do I look for the details of the update
What do you expect when they drop a 7GB patch with only like two sentences of patchntoes
it was yea
for pulse engine right?
sure, but does if feel necessary to change ships all the time?
You can't, no patch notes. Just like a two sentence synopsis. Closest is the in-game "recent changes" button thing
Regular items are moved to cargo inventory, tech items are changed to an inventory item then moved to cargo
Nah. Ships work fine even without having 40 tech mods stacked up on them. You could argue they were designed to work without super-stacking tech.
What's the title
the thing is, the limit is 30
Well I was doing that up till now, so there is biased view on that subject from my side
Here's all we have
Waypoint
streamlined seems like a poor excuse imo
Lol that ship is worth almost as much as my freighter
What ship has 30 tech slots?
All of them afaik
it was worth 1.8b with 38 tech slots, the value is bugged
Nope, I just tried upgrading an exotic and it's capped at 21 tech slots.
i mean , having cargo was kind of redundant after a point?
WTH?
Not when you're general was full of tech
the upgrades will want to add to cargo until its maxed, click a tech slot to add to it
It's not, you have to click on a locked tech slot
you will hit a wall at 30, since you cant reach the 31st slot, so you have to max normal cargo to go past 30
Ngl....kinda curious what I'm supposed to do with 60 MT slots when I don't even use 24 now
Anyway can anyone calmly tell ne what to expect when i download ths update
that seems like a bug
no
Yall scaring me
im 100% convinced it is, a lot of the stuff involving buying slots is iffy right now
scroll up, someone posted a screenshot of the patch notes
Is 30 tech slots the max?
Nothing special, equpment changes
Tbh most of us is scared atm especially veterans
as in the pic, 99 for ship tech
I don't mind the tech change personally, but it does seem the exact opposite of what one of the articles said (not a Sean quote) of 'raising the level caps of ships and MTs'
Yeah well you guys make it seem like 400 hours are wasted
I think it's broken
can confirm max cap for exo suit is 30 tech slots and 120 cargo
Nothing special, he says, as moderators are forced to put slowmode on the channel 🍿
And tech redundancyh limit?
That's a lot more, right?
what is the point of 120 cargo slots?
you cant place tech in normal slots anymore, thats the thing that got people steamed
Oh wow
Ok we got few more slots, ui change and what more? Difficultly customization
Opening nms the first time in 4.0, completely different
Ah well i never liked doing that anyeay
my infra-knife accelerator has 24k damage still, so it still feels OP
Since that took up a loy of space
Based on empty spaces, it looks like exosuits tech expanded from 21 to 27 slots. Unless the UI adds dead space to the new inventory and that extra space cannot be filled
Is it out on console yet?
no
I can sell more stuff now 🙏🏿
so if we had 48 in general and 48 in cargo before that's 96 so having 120 is 24 more slots technically
Yeah, and storage base at the base is MUCH larger to boot
So what’s 4.0 about anyway?
Wait what. You can no longer put tech modules in inventory sots???
Yeah
Seriously??
they killed off general
How many modules for the same tect can be installed in inventory tech before the "too many modules" pops up?
there is no general tab. there is tech and cargo. tech can only go in tech slots.
3
still same limit of 3 per type of tech

Welp this is it. I wont play anymore. Have fun
and what about all my living ship upgrades, hmm?... did they finally let us buy expansion slots at space stations for those? THEY'RE MY MAIN SHIPS
I can't send a pic. But all my tech modules which were in the general tab have become archived tech modules. Which I can't install cuz I don't have enough space
Oh my god you bunch of BABIES
I love how the main page of nomanssky.com is two updates behind
what's happened?
that's not constructive criticism
How's the new mode??
How long until the day one patch do we think?
Yep… The grind for slots starts again. Exo slot was back to 30k to buy, though.
Oh wait, like 5 updates behind
less than 1 day
Prob few days
30 slots max in tech still 3 upgrades per type, the grey modules were things that were installed in general
please be civil in here folks, rserver rules still apply, I know we all have strong feelings about the update one way or another but nonetheles.
Eyo what happened
Leaving the game over one update is nor helping anyone
Oxygen, Pure ferrite, Salvaged Data, Navigation Data have texture reworks
its what happens...
The patch notes arent even there yet
it has a huge negative impact for a lot of people - that's the point
part of me is internally amused that i was more devastated losing the Wideshot Adapter way back than these tech changes
some inventory reworking with a rather negative side effect
Uhhh... "huge negative impact" is a bit of a stretch.
@tame grotto more timer prob warranted its on loop
Yes but its day 1 of the update
ah man
losing more than half your tech is not a stretch
I think a lot of people would disagree
This channel should be renamed #nms-waypoint-inventory
my mods are gonna be fucked lmao
I wont play a game that tries to keep me playing it by nerfing the heck out of my character making a ton of time invested in said character esentially useless. If anybody wants to do it, I'm fine with it, anybody can play whatever they what however they want. I just think I wont play this anymore
one of the main features of the game, the inventory is being changed drastically
definitely more particle physics upgrades to various things, looks beautiful
destiny 2
And cloud/mist effects
I am confused
And/or warframe recently
Is it worth moving my best upgrades into tech slots before my game updates?
It has only be one day
on a different topic to inventory stuff, the ground in the space station on ultra, did the reflections on it seem grainy to anyone else? not sure if my PC or if it was dust causing DLSS to go nuts
Oh is 4.0 out?
one day
Think that's a longterm issue
4.0 is out on steam only, no patch notes available yet.
Will they break or something?
On Steam? I'm on Steam
All this bitching, sean will notice for sure
Yeah that existed since prisms
No
Nope. If you have too much tech it just gets repackaged so you can move and redeploy it as needed.
Aka, when that effect was introduced
Due to the removal of general, anything in those slots get packaged into installable modules and moved to cargo
the limit to tech adds more of a challenge to what is a "survival" game
And then there will be another update
no; but any tech in the general slots will be moved into tech (since general goes away) and the overflow goes into cargo as 'repackaged'
Did those upgrades stats which were installed in general changed drastically? I mean those which are now like grey in cargo
And then all the dramatic response of ONE day will seem silly
most people are not into survival
Oh no more tech in general?
Sean will notice. The questions are 1) if it was unexpected, 2) if it is enough to change his mind
Apparently
there's no general
why does it always take so long to release the trailer and patch notes

No general full stop unfortunately
they added relaxed mode for said people....
Thats where youre wrong
Well then yes
Theres just tech and non-tech slots now.
Well the update is way earlier than usual
EPIC
which still has the same limitations?!
true that
NMS went through the hell of one of the most hated games on the internet for a brief time after launch. A few angry gamers over a patch probably won't bother them too much
If relaxed mode still has general I'm converting my save immediately
Hoarding is defo back in the game, though 🙂 Storage containers have more space now also
Oof
you can convert it already... it won't change anything
It will if they find the response negative
Sooo what are those complaints you were talking about
Can you now convert your save to another gamemode?
Im gonna fly off the handle and say that trying to define No Man's Sky as one thing like an "exploration game" or a "survival game" or a "base building game" is kind of silly? It's the video game equivalent of an identity crisis and trying to define it as one of the many things it contains is futile
Yeah, apparently @eternal radish
Hey did they delete all those slot extension tokens?
Super hardcore players are pissed they can no longer use the general inventory to stack up like 50 tech mods at once.
I WONDER what Hualers cargo size will be now
Right
I just want better water
I just updated windows and nms. Both have UI changes and this is too sudden
Let people be upset about losing half of their progress
Ah found it
It's an incredibly valid complaint
Based
What is the general consensus so far
more than half
No, they changed icon only
biggest issue people are having is that you can't have tech in cargo and you can still only have 3 per type in tech inventory which has a max of 30 slots so the overall amount of tech you can have installed at one time is much lower
At least multi tool
@random drift honestly I never used the survibailitt mods for my guys I just carried a ton of Sodium around at least 9999 of it on hand to just refill my thing. So all that extra space in tech is probably gonna be baren for me
none, for what I see
Read the rules then reconsider what you're saying 😉
Good or bad??
not enough information to have one
@abstract roost I could see the Multi Tool getting more slots as a Plus... I'd have to split Minning and Fighting between two of them
akshully hello games can do no wrong!!1!
what game gategory does one find No Man's Sky under in the Steam Story? pretty sure it's under "Survival"
Dont ever wink at me again
so you on all your savs max out jetpack because we all know how annoying it is to have no or just a couple upgrades on that. now that's borked. (a small example but you get the point)
Yes, they're great, but imo they made a mistake with this one
that's my point, you are forced to change modules all the time
Well now im not gonna listen to you 😉
that's not a clear-cut definition of what it is though. if it's strictly a survival game why does is it's survival mode a separate gamemode and not just called normal mode. To me it's an exploration game but that's defined by my playstyle and not the game itself
I was being sarcastic
Ah great, still can expand slots
@muted moth I had. A feeling things would get borked, this why I started a new save and really all I did was max out inventory for exo suit space... I have no permanentstarship just a random A class hualer I'm using to carry a bunch of stuff
Is there a list of all spoilers so far? Braun to slide for chat
I was agreeing with you
you would not be able to change modules to get that sprint/jetpack back, because max is 3. the other 3 you had, you can not apply them ever.
It's more of a sandbox-exploration game with survival elements against, mainly, weather
This message should be pinned
Lol what's going on
not only that, ships have the same limitations as exosuit tech
Idk
But again i think all the reeeeing is gonna be for nothing once sean updates
@urban geode just carry infinite Sodium and you shall not need any survival mods
nah I'm sure we'll hear it plenty more lol
The patch notes are what should be pinned. We all know we'll have like 200 people in the next few days asking what's changed
Because they always listen to player complaints
I'm fairly certain hg won't sit on their decision
so if you want a combat ship, you must have only combat modules and barely any on mobility
So no tech in general now? Even on Normal?
Yeah I do. I've never installed tech modules for weather
yes
at best I see them just adding an option in the new difficulty settings for tech limit
No general full stop
that's dead, no general
No general at all? Woah
I mean they are getting pretty universal condemnation so dont think so
they merged general and cargo
They added slots from general to Cargo
Yeah theyll regret this update
@fast birch honestly I just have 3 weapon... For combat, the photon with 3 things, the Cyclone with three things and the rockets with it's one thing, I have destroyed starships left and right with that combo
Nerfing power creep will always piss off the most hardcore players, but games still do it for a reason
a couple guys in a discord isn't universal condemnation
is that not the reason there are different ship types? such as fighter, hauler, shuttle etc....
So all the slots are in cargo now and you can’t put tech there
I see
"a couple guys on discord" is most of the community lol
Even their loyal fans are now being the babies they once fought against
You're projecting, frankly
Check reddit and twitter
@urban geode right I just keep an eye on it once it drops I juice up the Sodium and boom ready to go... Or just use a Minatory and oxygen lol
So again. First day of the update. Relaaaaaaaaaax
Reddit is also exdoing
In this case, hours I spend farming mods are useless with one patch.
Five of my ships and my exo is busted.
Feels like a slap in the face - with a chair. 😐
sure, you can use the fact of specialization on ships, but they all share now the same tech slot limit?
Reddit is always complaining about anything
Hey, did they fixed light as well
You may cry about it in a week
The nms subreddit is surprisingly chill
You should see the forza horizon Reddit
Okay so cool, drop pods are more viable now since they are maps. You don't need to deploy a signal scanner every time
Not anymore...
@hearty perch meanwhile I'm over here just fine since the Portable refiner duplication still works
Yeah lol
Uhhh... they always had maps didn't they? Are you thinking an older patch?
We get it
@humble nymph that also means that ships specialization is pointless, you are just going for the looks alone
Well, not always, but had maps at least before today's patch
Does the life support glitch still work?
What's the cargo rocket for?
OMG you guys any tech you have installed you can "Store" and it will turn into a packaged upgrade that you can put in cargo, you can trade them out at any time without breaking them!!!!!!!
And some relief comes knowing the anti tech overload mod still works. I still get my 6 spots
What I've noticed with the nms reddit is that as soon as someone has a valid complaint they get downvoted.
Let's focus on discussing the update and whatever falls under NMS spoilers. Let's keep drama out of this channel. We get it, people are upset and Reddit is being very vocal about it.
we shouldn't have HAD TO trade them out
@indigo notch I used it for the AI valves before they got nerfed and been maxed out on units for my new save... Next step make like 300 starship augmentation and 100 frogate modules lol
rmeote access to trade terminals!
They weren't maps. Do you know the usual maps which you press 'e' on to find a crash site for example? They're like that right now. Before they were items which were used in the signal booster to show you the location
Ooooh I like that
i enjoy debating opinions with people
But many "new update sucks" "new inventory sucks" "hello games will regret this update >:]) posts are upvoted
i'd be fine with this change if I got all my upgrades as these packaged things
Back on to spoilers. The next set of quicksilver rewards is more grass
And thismeans what?
@muted moth interesting... So they added There own version of Amazon Prime lol...
GEK prime
That's so cool!
you do! you can package all of them
Oh, that's what you mean. Fair.
multi-tool slots are the scary ones on unit cost; i never had to buy slots for that so with 4.0 i might actually have to go find where they come from
not a spoiler, we've known it since the first grass dropped 😛 😄
lol I just sent you this
I don't really see them much
no, i mean like, in my current inventory
You have to filter by new because update just came out
Honestly i wanna see how this plays out
Have to say I like how inventory works now, beside that “problem” with tech nerf
I love that new UI
@lost jolt so it cost Units or nanites to increase multiTool Slots
Oh, so the next set after these posters was already in the files? I forget, with all the grass and posters available 😛
this means you can keep all of your upgrades and uninstall and reinstall them whenever you need
Hg won't sit on it, they'll listen to the community
The icons on the side look very clean
units; with everything set to lowest difficulty their cost per slot capped at 198m each
Even putting the tech upgrades issue aside, I don't like the fact that general inventory got merged with cargo. I used cargo to hoard items / materials that I don't need all the time, but could use from time to time. And general inventory was my place for items I used often. Now it's all gonna be squashed together, which in my case is opposite of helping managing the inventory
Five stages of grief
you are not 'the community'
IMHO it’s a step in right direction
Never said that
alr I'll check it out
Same
HG put a lot of thought into it, I don't think they'll just go "oops the minmaxers don't like it, revert everything"
your implication is that everyone agrees with you when looking at the discourse it's way more mixed?
hey guys have they added phlamps?
it could be viewed that way but i think having a ship thats more geared towards certain aspects of utility is what will happen with the limit to tech.
I agree with this
And duping still works
get rid of the utm crap on the link
My disappointment is immeasurable.
word is that they added garloids to the game
general is where all my regular use crap goes, like carbon, ferrite, sodium
Hg will listen to the complaints
If there's one feature I'd add to nms, it would be that when you receive coords to a place, it's the exact coords. I hate the fact that you need to land and walk and search / search while in your spaceship. Like we have huge flying interstellar bases but can't put find specific coords on the map?
My implication is that a lot of people are very disappointed
guys have they added phlamps from bajookieland???
And find a middleground

not gonna happen, that's a specifically implemented feature
@abstract roost thank got it really is a time Saver for some things when I just want to do us on explkrarion. I like using it for salvage data and starship augmentation.
It'd honestly be nice to see them stick to their guns for once?
Any idea when 4.0 will hit switch?
My complaint was just a bunch of emojis followed by a rhetorical passive aggressive question pointed at Sean.
They always have
Listening to the community is a waaay better approach
I hope next update is a water or proc gen update
And repair kits 😛
Water defo needs an overhaul
we don't really know when each platform will get the update. sometime today though they should all have it
Guys did you hear they added smelfed clemps into the game??
Think of what halo infinite could be vs what it is if devs listened to their community like hg
no way
So has anyone tested relaxed mode..
When they say cost are lowered does that mean both unit cost and amount of materials needed to build something. like are silos still a whole stack of Metal
And you guys keep forgetting. Its day 1. You may complain after a week but you know how the game isxwith patches
came in with the inventory change
I somewhat agree although not all the time.
proc gen update ... do you WANT to get killed when you visit your old bases now?
woah
Let's focus on discussing the update and whatever falls under NMS spoilers. Let's keep drama out of this channel. We get it, people are upset and Reddit is being very vocal about it. Run !HelloGames in #bot-spam or check pins to use your time and energy productively by voicing your concerns and complaints where they're best seen by HG.
Still, did someone noticed if they actually improved light\brightness?
well, listening to the community can be a double edged sword. Different people want different things out of their NMS experience
You're gonna need a command for that once update hits on all platforms
double edgdeing fuckg
bro
Fair fair.
It's impossible to please everyone, so hg chooses to please as many as possible
@jolly thicket I built my main base around a minor settlement and and archive Depot... I should be fine... My other one is just the a teleporter a few feet from a Glyph portal.
sorry my inner bajookieland is coming out
We do have a helpful command in case you'd like to use that too: !Complaints
True, I like the changes I saw so far, and I saw many people on Reddit do, too.
Im so glad relaxed mode exists
Normal too grindy and creative too boring so perfect middle ground
Yes. And so they will probably improve on things once they read the many complaints
Anyone find any overhauls that might make up for the hopefully temporary tech nerf.
it can be a problem when you have hundreds of bases
And I think they should stick to the main concept of the game instead of trying to please everyone. Like why play nms if you want a combat game.
And yall regret bitching on day one
I may actually delete my bases once I'm done duping what I need and start from scratch on my save in relaxed mode when I convert my regular to it
i'll argue they stopped doing that ever since they shipped NEXT, too late to go back now
Did they do sumn to bases?
with all these changes i gotta say personally 1.0 was better they had phlamps then at least
If no one voiced their concerns to hg, nothing would get changed
So I'm watching a Twitch stream of 4.0 and the creature options are Off / Defensive / Predators On, so it doesn't seem like you can increase the level of creature aggressiveness more than what already existed (assuming Predators On was the default prior to 4.0)
What is the max on cargo slots now? At least 105 now i heard?
Storage is MUCH larger. I think double? And iridium farming was nerfed
120
i feel like im in ultrakill
and then 50 slots per storage container dang
iridium doesn't exist
I don't mind if base builders and combat enjoyers get a lot of updates but I just wish they focused more on exploration :(
liek stardew
Theres a difference between complaining and IM NEVER PLAYING AGAIN
Agreed
Sorry, Indium, the cheap knockoff of iridium
THEY RUINED THE GANE #notmynomanssky
still cant smoke weed in game :/
still cant OD in game :/
Many people on reddit saying they stop playing because of inventory lol
GekNip every day
True, GekNip needs an animation and buff.
Well thats what i mean
Is there a reason why people are disappointed about 4.0?
Indium is a real element, plus iridesite is already in the game
I don't either, i think the old game and the current one are very different beasts and i treat them as such.
geknip blunts added (real)
well technically you can - can make food with the plants
@indigo notch Honestly when I heard about this update I decide to not further invest into my saved games, rather dmade a new one where I just kinda did just enough like get my A class Capital ship and max out my Cargo for the exosuit and max out the units while stuff isn't nerfed... Got that out the way and I think this update won't even affect me in a negative way. Alot of people I think just feel all that time invested in some aspects for ruined... So in a sense it does ruin there play through now. Best bet is everyone just start a new save and re enjoy that day 1 feel
I don't really care that much tbh
🤔 now, where do duped item go?
Just the removal of general
5 people is not many people....
Okay. And there is an alternative?
no
Waiting for a patch I guess
dude its redditors maybe they will go outside!
Haha i know but people there feel so important like the main character
@abstract roost into the extra storage things at my base lol... Hey did they increase the storage on those too or are they still 20 each
General inventory was converted into cargo space. It wasn't deleted
lmao
One person saying there's only 5 people doesn't make you correct
Where did all the stuff go that was in general?
50 now
You can mass report to hg and wait for a patch since hg will always listen abd many ppl are upset so yhey will find a way to please the upset people
might as well wait for a new patch, that either reverts or gives another row on tech
From my point of view if they're trying to please all audiences they should try to do it equally.
The one which lands?
Never claimed to be "correct" — whatever that's supposed to mean in this case
I'm not that big of a fan of how they did the custom mode, but I'm willing to give it a chance.
Tech gets repackaged in a storable module and put into cargo
@latent ingot ooooooh snap, I'ma be filling those baby's up now with Geknip
And then all the bashing will feel stupid
Why say something that isn't correct?
And stuff like ferrite dust?
Just transferred into cargo
All of your current general slots are added into your cargo inventory
let's not argue about how many people think this or that aspect is good or bad, let's let eveyronehave their opinions please
So if you're maxed you have 96 cargo slots now
Doesn’t sound like a big deal to me personally 🤷🏻♀️ I can live with that. I always put ores into cargo anyways. I’m very organised.
You seem to imply I have some sort of agenda, while I'm just stating that a very small vocal minority on reddit is not many people. Just want to put things straight.
oh wait, so all my tech from tech and inv gets packaged up?
Is it possible to turn off the new auto save feature?
I guess one upside is I can scrap my bigger AI mines and free up a lot of edits
Which is 12 more slots, total, than before.
people never liked balancing updates
Didn't someone say they had 110 and still upgrading earlier?
The problem is its not a small vocal minority
We still haven't seen the patch notes
they doesn't like someone (HG) comes and touch his super heroe
The cap is 120
you can dismiss freighters now
How do you know
I think it's good to balance
As of endurance
oh, i've never seen that
"We are a friendly community" this is aged like fine wine
I've become fairly good at reading the community
🤓
I like balancing updates, but this drastic change on inventory is a step back. It feels like they want to bring back the nms back to 1.0 inventory tetris
<@&590975379678953522> people losing their chill
Apparently there's been visual improvements? Has anyone got screenshots
I've personally seen like 5 people clearly against, and 4 people saying they like it in the last hour or two. For what it's worth
the ui is a bit confusing but i think i can get used to it
I hope Sean is getting some laughs in before he logs onto Reddit.
grah!
What happened
listen, if all my tech mods are still there, packaged up to be reinstalled, i'm chill
why do people not like this update?
"mama!"
Maybe the simpler UI for small screen like Switch?
a little peeved, but
New update no likey
The endgame state was completely broken from a balance perspective. They had to do some harsh changes to change that
HECKIE
guys should I jsut get back on minecraft
Re familiarise yourself with the rules before coming here to cause trouble
ITS BEEN. DAY. 1.
It was just a prank bro
@safe kiln where you reinstalling them if there's no general tab and tech still only holds 3 modules per type?
Unless you want to move like a slug.
Kinda hard to justify it like that when freighters still have tab based inventory
Eh, it doesnt seem that bad. Its just a bit buggy, which is normal for major updates
They took away your non cargo upgrades and forced it all to tech, so you're capped at 3 upgrades till they revert
reorganizing my tech tab, clearly
what endgame? this is the thing that irks me. This game doesn't have a endgame of any sort. It's your choice what you want to do in the game.
Fair...I haven't seen that
DONT GIVE UP THE GAME IMMEDIATELY AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHGFHDJDJGJHJJJJJ GOD YOU PEOPLE ARE SO IMPATIENT
once again let's not argue about how many people think this or that.
(though i may have issues what with having used a tech slot expansion mod...)
ah
Honestly I don't see who you're arguing with anymore
why you can make a change to the endgame in a game that doesn't has a specific end goal
All of yoy
speed potion
!updatedrama
Let's focus on discussing the update. Let's keep drama out of this channel. We get it, people are upset and Reddit is being very vocal about it. Run !HelloGames in #bot-spam or check pins to use your time and energy productively by voicing your concerns and complaints where they're best seen by HG.
Half the tech upgrades is your version of "a bit buggy." I'd hate to imagine your concept of game breaking.
This update is called Waypoint. It's a waypoint to somewhere, and if they want to add new game systems for experienced players to be challenged by, they had to do something like this
Endgame is a lot of money and upgrades
my current "endgame" is camp building
You all freak out IMMEDIATELY. Conplain to HG and wait til the game gets updated to your likung again. You know they will
Just wait for the tech upgrade microtransactions to roll out.
bruh
Ah I see everything goes to freighter cargo
Microtransactions??
sean's too pure for something so vile as microtransactions
I'm just moving all saves to a safe spot until XBox drops since I won't have hazard protections when it updates
It refunded your upgrades did it not?
I see one person who mentioned the lack of general between your last two messages
Why are people in such a uproar??
idk?
and made half of them unusable in the process
So what other updates have happened aside from what everyone is crying about?
They said recently they will keep microtransactions out of the game
Sooooo just woke up. Did they make tech slots to only 30?
they reworked the inventory system, cargo and general were merged and tech was given it's own section
Becsuse people dont like change and cant wait for a couple of fucking days to get updated
UI received a nice update, I like the new discoveries & catalogue design
a lot of people dont like the stripping back of upgrades
So are old Permadeath saves converted or something?
I havent loaded mine yet
Omg seriously??
let people have their opinions, youre the only one getting overly worked up over this
On the plus side it's an easy thing to change if a huge proportion of the community hates the tech situation. Just raise the cap to 6
my survival save inherited survival difficulty settings, so yours will likely inherit permadeath settings
No im not
my issue is less with that and more with how this change disrupts a dynamic the game had between inventory and tech
That's cool. There must be a gameplay balance reason to the tech only stacking up to 3 now
and probably increase tech inv size a bit
plus dharhan will have a ton of work to do remaking the layout commands
however, to be fair, the addition of tech slots already disrupted that quite a bit
Nope, because I reverted my version and maintained a backup. I'm not re-rolling my x and ? class mods simply because they goofed on the general/cargo merger.
the repackaged tech keeps its original stats
generally, people are more okay with "additions" than "subtractions"
It's weird, I'm wondering what it means for the overall game.
60 for multitools
It should keep the same seed values it had before it got refunded
You guys are scaring ppl away by your excessive complaining and again. Not realizing they will change it seeing how a lot of fans dont like it
hold on what
And 30 for exosuit and ships?
See this as a minor setback
folks' disappointment is valid. You flat out called some people babies here for expressing the desire to quit playing over the changes, which is totally up to them and perfectly understandable if it leaves the game unenjoyable for them.
multitools get 60 slots?
my personal argument is that buildcrafting being dependant on inventory space was an interesting dynamic but it was never properly utilized and tech slots completely destroyed it
110 + 90 for starships yeah
wait really???
I'm not chancing it when I know they'll fix the issue in the next week or so.
You are a baby if you stop playing AFTER ONE DAY
new players arent going to notice a difference. thats teh frustrating part. veteran players are just going to scare off the new players
yes 60, did it earlier
W8 if its 90 why ppl whine
Exactly!
ive seen one or two people say that, about an hour ago at this point
I do wish existing saves had gotten more text slots in the exchange
just
As far as I can tell.
Bc you used to be able to have 6 upgrade modules per technology, now you are capped at 3
the amount of tech you can have has been halved
It will be more seeing how you guys keep crying abour how the game is ruined
back up your save
is it possible to add tecnology slots at this time?
We'll understand once patch notes are out
And you're the one complaining about people complaining all the time lmao
This is just a good idea all around
@indigo notch cheers. Even if mods aren't, I'm done with your namecalling
the interesting part to me is that they chose 99 for ship tech slots and not 90 or 100
I think it's neat personally, but yeah
shouldnt be an issue at all
It does look like tech slot max was increased on exosuits and ships, yes.
well, I love the increase in MT slots
And im donevwith the bitching
That is a bit strange yeah
Oh cap of 3 remains, i see
I think they just forgot about it and will fix it tomorrow
11x9 vs 10x10
The cap has increased, but the individual upgrade cap went from 6 to 3.

youre arguing with invisible complainers, just chill
the 99 are a 10x10 with an empty slot
😆
Especially if u flood the zendesk with complaints about the cap
definitely an odd decision
Invisible? Mate have you seen the cimmunity the past few
What do you mean by upgrade cap? How much it can be increased compared to starting size?
Uff, there is a bug I need to report
Just dont crash it
Ok new topic, anyone else thinks the new icons for items / modules look off? No name plates, big ass font for amount / charge level
i somewhat wonder if it was like an array thing where its 100, but 0-99 instead of 1-100
an individual upgrade type has a max of 3 before being overloaded
I'm wondering how they're going to offset the tech cap though
just block or ignore.
pretty normal for update days
The total is 30, but individual mods are hard capped at 3.
there is a limit to the amount of upgrade modules you can have, that has been halved
so you can't have more than 3 procgen jetpack upgrades
Itvhas never been this bad
I think this is why its 99
For now.
for now.
its been worse
You're currently the person complaining the most.
its pretty normal iin my experience.
Well ive never seen it this bad anyway.
lol, "never been this bad" and the game is no man's sky
Im fairly confident hg will compromise with the upcoming patches
soooo bringin it back to the update instead of the meta-chatter about it. this update 4.0, anyone seen it? 😛
it's been way worse
PS update just released
anyways, Permadeath saves changing after load, anyone know?
Sure
ive heard about it
I just wanna see the cargo rocket lol
ps4 out now!
sorry if i've flared up a bit at ya btw
PS4 v4.2 is out?!
Wait, why did it release as 4.2 on the PS?
Ok im gonna have a shower, dont burn hg down while im gone :p
I'll wait till patch notes
dont worry, im all down for discussions
Xbox Series S update has arrived
because ps couldn'thave 3.99.1
Ship tech slots appear to max out at 30, with living ships still being... whatever their limit was, I forget. So as far as multi-purpose ships go, living ships reign supreme now. Everyone else must specialize.
So is PS going to forever be ahead of main branch version?
living ships had 48 after last update
gunter says its only out on steam
you got it?
Switch update?
downloading right now
It’s that I just got out of bed but I’m really looking forward to playing the update.
LESSSSGOOOOOO the queue just began
good point, havent seen anyone mention switch. Is it out and playable?
what i personally hope this means is that we'll get better buildcrafting opprotunities outside of just slamming as much tech into something as possible? Like adding new mechanics to that whole system
No idea
Thanks. but anyway, they still have room for all tech. Other ships have to make sacrifices. More tech = less upgrades.
its like exo mech all over again
what happened in exo mech
it definitely opens up some new opportunities, most people are just annoyed that it feels like its been left for the moment
can you please DM me or post here, the tiny number that shows in the bottom right corner of your title screen where you can select Single & Multiplayer? 🙏
Additionally i think a loadout system would be awesome in this context
I've heard very good things about the port tbh
nms is updating on xbox
Sure, it'll be another 20-30 mins to download though
Sooo, any other noticed changes besides inventory?
patch patch
pretty sure its out
Ironically, my hauler is the only ship that isn't suffering right now. I put all its tech in tech slots so I could do maximum hauling. 😛
@tame grotto seems like mine will be finished updating soon-ish, ill send you the number when its done
what number should it display if its on 4.0?
i think we all need to give it a try. i think it could be good for diversifying how people play, rather than everyone's character becoming the same with only minor variations in weapon choices
Wait, you were one of the most vocal opponents of the change in this channel and you haven't even downloaded the patch yet?
And for those of you trying to rebuild your tech quickly, refiner duping still works
for people keeping track: 4.0 now on xbox, ps4/5, steam (what about switch though?)
I cant, im on xbox
Yeah again i'm not a fan of how NMS's old buildcrafting ecosystem worked
4.02*
the new update. let's put it that way 🙂
friend is saying they have the switch version right now and it's got the old UI, which i found odd
switch digital edition was Outlaws, so the old ui
the switch version shipped with outlaws, the day one patch will be Waypoint probably
?
In hwat way?
I used 5 to extend cargo slots and no new slots
I will say i like the new tech damage system a LOT
Huh
Estraño.
You need to manually select the new slots now. I had that problem with a lot of slots in all inventories.
sweet! it should be a tiny number that's likely 94473 (i wanna confirm it matches across all platforms)
how many slots does your freighter cargo have?
That does corroborate with what I've seen so far
Aah
Awesome, xbox is saying 25 minutes at the moment
Tetris time
love the new inventory tbh, I'm > 1000h in and still get mad at inventory management
Thnx
Has anyone with the updated tested out relax mode, what am in store for when my Xbox updates when I switch my normal save
Spoiler alert* Very soon I will have image rights.
same, the inventory UI is neat as heck
honestly most of the update is great, just one thing that im sure theyll change with the first or second patch
Not yet, I'm still salvaging my main save lol
I mean even if they don't I'm hoping they just have a good reason why
Oh also, multi-tools now max out at 30 slots. So at least something got buffed instead of nerfed.
Smbd got a YT video with everything new in images?
im fairly certain theyll rebalance it, whether they increase module stats or change the tech overload cap
you sure the player inventory didn't get buffed too?
So wait, how many slots in tech on freighter?
@pastel magnet yay no more splitting fighting and mining between two MT
Pretty sure it was the obvious exploit of people getting around the 3-upgrade-cap by placing half in the main inventory
I wanna see the game's buildcrafting become less stale because that's why i stopped caring about it? And i think better limitations are a step in the right direction. but now we need better payoffs
yep, 30 tech and 120 cargo
Has anyone checked on their drop pod coordinates?
120 cargo doesn't sound as nerf to me
There's a new "exosuit upgrade cartographic data."
yeah, its 24 more slots
@obsidian prairie what's that
i get weird screeching audio glitches when trying to upgrade my slots at a station or drop pod. Like ear piercing stuff
I mean, you should probably still do that since different multi-tools have different stat buffs.
Basically you don't need a signal booster to find drop pods anymore
They work like normal maps from the cartographer
@pastel magnet naw I want to find the one and only giga Chad mt
Apparently it's a map that can be purchased at the cartographer that acts like a stand alone drop pid coordinate.
once you upgrade that slot, it should stop.
its when the inventory "size" is going to a new row
that's very fair
Look at that, you can rename your save
Finally
Now I will cease being confused
the 3 upgrade cap per inventory thing never really seemed like an exploit
Patch notes...when
just had an idea, people could sell perfectly rolled x class modules now you can package them
I get the sense this update may have launched early by mistake, considering the lack of patch notes and trailer.
to me it's fairly evident that it was?
I mean, the game stopped letting tech work if there were more than 3 progens in the tech slots. Seems pretty obvious they intended it to be limited to three. It's just that the exploit was widespread and everyone used it
Wait is update out already lol
@random drift thank god for you know how many signal boosters I left scattered across one planet cus I forgot them
every update was this way
yes, on most platforms. see latest in #nms-news-ticker for now. no patch notes yet though
nah, the date was today
that's kinda good?
the trailer and patch notes always come a little late
yeah, people often dont minmax because it takes too much time, now we can share I feel thats better
Can't wait for the cryptic Twitter emojis for the hotfix.
Also, I've now maxed out an exotic and a fighter. Both have 30 tech slots. Exotic gets 110 cargo, fighter only gets 100. Curious.
I just hope they provide reasons
There was a ping in here...
That’s nice! I always felt bad having to destroy an upgrade module because I had tech overload.
Hey this update is pretty neat
Hmmmst.
yeah, people were getting a little uncivil but its calmed down now
Anyone found a workaround for adding upgrades to cargo, yet?
Honestly i'm wondering if there's some other way to minmax now or again if they have ideas for better buildcrafting payoffs
Prob me pinging moderators few hours ago
Ah... Of course, lore 🙂 Not everyone agrees with each other on that front.
Or anything that might compensate for the nerf(accidental or not.)
and me lol
What's survival like?
Besides more storage space overall?
so, are all gamemodes able to interact now we have the sliders?
Since doubling up on max upgrades was an exploit to begin with, I don't think they'll compensate for not being able to use the exploit anymore
So new max hyper jumps for freighter is around 1k less?
That's not good enough. I was managing my inventory perfectly fine as it was.
3 modules per inventory was intended
a lot less.
Is there an announcement to confirm this???
Why did the tech tab limit you to 3 progens of each type, instead of just six no matter the location?
no patch notes out yet
Well had 6.39 or so at moment is 4.8k
@muted moth thank god I have an S class
if you were supposed to only be able to have three, they would have changed it years ago rather than leave it in for years
probably there is tech upgrades much better than Outlaws ones, so maybe not so nerf as it sounds
I still don't know how this is gonna effect core warping tech damage. Also, fall damage and combat can now break your tech. "QOL" frfr
it might have been an issue with how inventory worked
also, they wouldnt have let you use general slots for tech
patch out on all platforms now except switch (how does nintendo coordinate these again?)
I am certain that 3 per inventory was a feature
but also , why would it not be mentioned in the game whatsoever especially with the game's recent push for accessibility?
wait, patch?
The fact they removed it seems to suggest otherwise though
Taking damage can break tech now???
yep
The inventories have historically been separate from each other so HG probably didn't have it set up in such a way that they could regulate similar technologies being installed in separate tabs.
Definitely looked like an exploit to me
There aren't
i've been waiting a year to come back to NMS and the water still is unchanged
^^^^^^^^
So do they have the notes out yet
you already know?
I just checked the procedural technology table
10 minutes until updated
4.0, the update
Goozfraabah.
The uppatch
My condolences to the people exploring the update at the expense of their frustrations.
ahh ok
Seems exosuit upgrade tokens changed into drop pod maps or did I get something wrong here?
could you share a screenshot of that table please? i'm curious
4.02*
thats a ps5/4 glitch (dont remember which)
4
... qol improvements...
Is Survival Mode, or Survival Difficulty: Challenging, intended to be significantly easier than previously? I started a new save. I have nothing. "Critical Exposure to the Elements: 25 minutes"
@muted moth it's a Gek one too so I think I'll rename it the Gekamole
let's call it 4.0 since that's the intended numbering scheme and in use everywhere else (and how sean refers to it in the interviews too)
I be on PS.
What ya mean?
yeah, ps didnt like one of the previous patch numbers
Nope. Not until my PS update reflects it.
wait for the storms
😆
try switching to a different difficulty and see if it works backwards maybe, then report the bug if so
ps is buggy in that way for some reason
the numbers went out of sync when hg added another . into one of the patch numbers
Probably a conspiracy.
Hopefully it works itself out and gets back in sync eventually
yeah, im sure it will
Seems like nipnip price dropped a bit too but not for too much
thatll be the first thing on the patch notes
Everyone so uptight about the upgrades people haven't even bothered checking the new modes
They nerfed some of the largest cash-cow farming methods
lots of people have
Whoa whoa whoa. Which ones?
orange name 🥳
Activated indium got gutted
How?
honestly I like the difficulty changes
Sell price is much, much lower now
it was useless as a material anyway
Active Indium being the largest one took a massive hit. I'm sure they probably also hit other major products so farmers wouldn't simply swap to the 2nd most profitable one and only take a tiny hit
Good lol
Significant lower price
@glacial rapids just means I need to grow the farm and sell even more
Piracy is more fun to make units anyway
anyone can check price for chlorine? we'll need to update some faqs if that's changed too
Have we checked the comparative prices?
It's pretty nice for storing chromatic metal in bulk
Welp. My main income was stasis devices anyways 🙃
Same.
based tbh (apologies for saying such an accursed word)
Ideally if the game's going to be fun, we should be actually playing the game to make cash. Activated indium trivialised everything and sucked the fun out of it
Activated Indium made it so the best way to make money was to not play the game
Exactly. Not a good thing
@vague badge good thing I dupe AI valves before the Nerf and still have 30 stacks left. I maxed out units so just need to sell every once in a while
If the price of everything has been reduced (which would be nice to check), its probably to make the unit cap less of an issue
worth only 12m now btw
Ah, looks like I am wrong about the Hazard Protection, thankfully. Looks like there is an early game "Grace Period" where Hazard protection is significantly buffed.
30 seconds
@uncut harness I wonder if you canore in one stack and thus if you sell by the stack it techniqually didn't go down@rancid ether not bad given I have 30 stacks
I have to admit, I hate how they did the storage but overall I think it looks great!
alright, game upated
Solar Ship maxes out at 110 storage.
Did selling sentinel upgrades for nanites get nerfed? Don't have the update but I saw some people on the subreddit talking about it
careful with memes
except it's not like AI farms built themselves and if folks enjoy going that route, what effect if any does that have on anyone else's ability to enjoy the game?
Strange I have all my tech OK
All ships do
seems like the prices of a lot of things have been nerfed, I wouldnt be surprised
did you have anything in general slots?
You still have your tech in general?
Fighter maxed at 100 for me. But I'll double-check in a few minutes, might've been player error on my part.
Whenever you use your multi tool to get ferrite dust did it double the yield
even haulers?
@obsidian prairie No gifs in this channel please
Why did the value decrease?
@high ferry it really is alot of work to build those farms. And it's playing the game
General inv yes
Anyone figured out max tech slots on exosuit and starship yet?
If they did that it genuinely sucks, mold refining is pure tedium
@tame grotto the number is 94399
you mean cargo?
30 for starship. Exosuit to be determined, unless someone else has done it.
I mean can u blame us for checking our main mode and being just slightly offended?
30 tech, 120 cargo for exo
Not cargo
General tab
Not sure about cargo
Probably to balance duping with the rest of the game. Its not like players were intentionally grinding ships to collect those
Wow AI farming is dead I guess? 😮
Anyone else not a fan of having to scroll in your inventory? I like having one page I can see it all
So basically HG created inflation in game lol lowered value of the units return on items but kept items the same price lol
considering there is no general tab anymore, Im not sure I follow
I rather have scroll tbh
Ugh
Well that's annoying. So much for my uber setup that used almost all 48 normal slots. 🤣 Oh well, I can just sacrifice some of my enviromental protections and rely on the X-class ones. Not the end of the world.
Somebody will probably make a mod for it
We're now on the receiving end of cobalt dumping
Yup
Not the end of the world but it do be irritating
just remember you can only have 3 instead of 6 modules now
What was the price decrease in smuggled goods?
Smuggled goods got decreased too? Ouch
Are trade goods still the same price?
I only had 3 to begin with, so I ain't losing anything. Only my life support and jetpack were ever doubled up.
Doesn't help my Xbox
anyone able to confirm if hauler inventory has been changed by the update?
Credit-farming methods appear nerfed across the board, not just smuggling
Sean for starship rights 🙌
I dont know, thats why ima asking
or is it the same as all other ships?
Please tell me we can own space stations?
Mods might start updating soon, shockingly
nope
Like freighters?
So, it’s basically more difficult to get units fast? You’ll have to grind more?
what are the positives of this update?
Anyone tried the station override yet?
Pain. Pure Pain
That and cargo space. That's it.
Stasis devices/ FI's are same value afaik
reported not to work earlier
