I'm a bit in and out - here but not here. So I'll drop my tuppence and run.

I like the idea of an inclusive game night.... movie, a few games going on etc etc.
Which is going to require a lot of prep and coordination.

but I'm also in favour of seperating those things out as trials (eg. ToS tonight ,a movie during the week, something else next week)
All with a view of leading up to an ULTIMATE game night. That's kind of how I feel .I think it would be best to test the waters in smaller/less ambitious projects,than go all in, in one go.

Well for games that we might choose to run using Discord, the group DM is limited to 10 participants, so anything revolving around screen sharing would have to be split up if we have more than 10 who want to participate

From what it looks like, the games last night were "unofficial" since they didn't have any kind of planning involved? I think if last night is considered a server game night you're going to piss a lot of people off when there was no announcements made of it happening

But if that's all getting a bit messy, I think hosting a game to get feedback is great. I think more than a day's notice is needed though. Want to do it Friday? Tell people Monday and get hype up, speeding the word throughout the week to get the best turnout possible.

Right...I'm going to be around for a majority of the day tomorrow - mostly between 12pm and 3am EST, so we'll have a decently wide range to pick from if I'm streaming.
Our main limiting factor is the UK and surrounding areas - they're on the opposite side of the clock from Australia and 4-5 hours later than America, which means that late evening US/late morning AUS times tend to have them in the wee hours of the morning.

So I'd say you guys pick a time, and have a form ready. Then at the end of this quiz night, share the link of the form with those that came, and then ask for it in announcements. Say you're collecting info until the following Tuesday or something?

That way you still have something this weekend, and then by Tuesday you have a good 4 days of data on when suits people to plan the next one!

Hey team! First off, a massive well done to those who helped organise the last game night, particularly to Sky, Joey and Dogluxer. It was a great success, and really enjoyed by everyone!

The idea of setting up this role was to have a team of dedicated folk to arranging the games and times for our nights, and hosting them.

The ideal set up of this, is to have at least 3/4 days notice on the next game night, so that it can be shared in #nms-announcements .

The best kind of message is sent here to WYIS that looks like;
Hey, we've a game night organised for 20th April at 2am EST. Can you please post this in announcements? The game will be xxx and if you could set up a self-assignable game role we'll spread the word so we can ping them closer to the time

Don't be afraid to just say what you need to make the night a success, and I'm sure that all will be done to help you as much as possible with this! 😃
Of course, we're all on hand to lend as much help throughout the organising as we can too.

If you have the Game Night Helper role and no longer feel you can contribute to the organisation of game nights etc, please drop us a message.

So plan for the next few days is to;

  • Finalise a time for the next game night. (Doesn't have to be this weekend, just whenever works)
  • Arrange a 'game night' role that is pingable.

Based on the few responses we've had to the form so far, the following times are coming up as being the most suitable for those that participated:

1st Most Popular
Friday - 5pm - 9pm
Friday - 9pm - 12am
Saturday 9pm-12am

2nd Most Popular
Sunday 12pm-5pm
Sunday 5pm-9pm
Sunday 9pm-12am
Saturday 6am-11am
Saturday 5pm-9pm
Saturday 12am-5am.

So all in all, the best times to have a game night based on this, is Friday nights (like we are doing), Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon/nights. Pretty much like we probably could have expected!
