Selected mission keeps on changing [Question]

Whenever I select a mission, the game randomly reverts it to "Under a rebel star". It happens irregularly but very frequently. Sometimes it's fine for five minutes, sometimes it changes within 30 seconds. It's really starting to deplete my sanity.

Is this a bug or is it a setting or something? Playing with mouse and keyboard on PC.

What happens after Atlas? [Question]

Good morning/afternoon/evening guys,

I bought this game 5 days ago and I already played for 45hrs. I like that the game is chill and you can do many different things. The community is absolutely insane. Never seen so many nice people in a video game. Love it and keep it up guys!

To my main question now. I did the atlas main quest and it wants me to go to a new galaxy. Is this the end if I do that? I still have so many things to do in the Euclid galaxy… So I don’t know what to do. I hope someone can help me with that question :)

Confused? [Question]

According to my discovery logs I've visited 310 systems. I have heard that there are 250+ galaxies does anyone know how many systems there are per galaxy, the reason I'm asking is because I've switched galaxies 10 times today and have landed on the same planet 3 times and all my frigates are currently out on missions but I'm not any further from them and had sent them out before I started galaxy hoping through the galaxy core. Am I missing something?

Monkey Emoji [Discussion]

So I was thinking about the second emoji, the monkey with hands covering his eyes. Reminds me of the hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil phrase. I was thinking a bit regarding see no evil, which Sean’s emoji could represent. The three wise monkeys represent the moral message of not looking at, listening to, or saying anything evil, as well as to be morally upright in the face of any evil. However, the proverb is sometimes used sarcastically to those who turn a blind eye to something morally or legally wrong. As if by pretending not to see the wrongdoing, they will not be held accountable for it.

So we have strength and power or mental determination in the arm and turning a blind eye or avoiding evil.

What do you think? [Question]

I'm a new player. I really like the game. Unfortunately, I am having serious performance issues. My PC is not very new, but at high settings the game usually runs at a steady 60-70 frames per second. Unfortunately, when the game loads some textures, i.e. when I sprint or land a ship on a planet, the game drops to as low as 1-3 fps. for 5 seconds. There is a chance that the new update will improve my situation, or maybe you know some ways to fix this problem.

Is it worth building a farm without a power hotspot? [Question]

I'm recently coming back after not having played for several years. On my PS4 save I got lucky and had an S class hotspot alongside an S class AI deposit. For the last couple of days I've been looking for a spot for a farm, but the best I've found is a C+C location. I also found an A indium location, but no hotspot. This is my fourth system and I'm getting sick of looking. Is this good enough, at least for now?

Freighter with no Hyperdrive [Question]

Hello! I started playing NMS on release, loved it, but had a long hiatus while many updates occurred. After returning the 1st time, I was surprised by millions of extra Units that I hadn’t had before, so splurged on a (C-class) freighter. I used this for a while to warp around, collect some ships, and just mess around before taking another long break from the game, so long that I hardly recognize a lot of what’s going on (probably unsurprising).

My problem is, now my freighter no longer seems to have a Hyperdrive (or any other tech, I can’t remember what else it would have had?) in any of its storage or Technology slots. There were still some materials and oddities left in the storage. I can’t find somewhere to purchase or ‘unlock’ the Freighter Hyperdrive blueprint, and haven’t had any luck finding an answer online. Should I just work to trade it in, or is there any easy fix that I’m missing? Or is there some Death Star flyer added in an update that makes freighters obsolete anyway? Thank you!

Just got a free freighter? [Question]

Jumped into a black hole and spawned just infront of a freighter getting attacked by pirates, I took down 6 of them and then the commander contacted me and told me to enter and after that he straight out gave it to me? I think it originally cost 3,000,000 units. What do I do with this? I've just played about 3 hours, I barely know anything! :P

Just wanted to share this here... I am really proud of this achievement! Completed the entire main campaigns (New Beginnings & Atlas Path) on permadeath [Screenshot]

I died 4 times in the initial parts, when I didn't even know how to properly survive. But once you learn the game, stock up on ion battery and life gel, its really hard to die in this game. I think NMS was one of the easier Permadeath challenges I've done but also one of the most fun. Run was done mostly blind with very little guidance from the wiki.

Sadly I didn't take a screenshot in game when the achievement first popped up!

Excited for the upcoming updates for this amazing technical masterpiece!

[HELP] A Trace of Metal - can't summon minotaur [Question]

So I got to the part where I salvaged a sentinel hard frame right arm schematic and the game told me to build either an exocraft summoning station or a minotaur geobay. I spent my time gathering the resources for the exocraft summoning station, built it... And nothing happened. Now the game is telling me to build the minotaur geobay.

Do I really need both in order to summon the minotaur or am I missing something here?

combat update? [Discussion]

does anyone know if there's a combat update coming? cause it's rather dull

this is just me ranting I really just wanna know if there's ever gonna be a proper combat update

fyi: I did play on normal but I don't expect much from survival other than more things attacking you and just having more health and damage output, making combat even more tedious

aim assist in space for pc is annoying and enemy ships flying in your face at all times makes it especially dull since the best way to fight is to just stay in 1 place and turn to face them like a stationary turret, it's just point and click in the most literal form possible for space combat, if you keep moving their weird pathfinding will make it very difficult to keep them in your sights as they'll keep turning to fly in your face or will simply fly around you, starship weapons are extremely short ranged as well which makes this even worse, space stations are completely invulnerable, like bro at least have one get attacked by pirates every now and then, let us find damaged stations, or ones undergoing repairs

ground combat as well, sentinels have barely any AI and you become invulnerable to them when you enter a building, but you can still attack them so they essentially turn into flying loot boxes (that fly towards you just to get shot at without being able to see you), walkers as much as they are supposed to be a final boss of a sentinel force on a planet are really weak, inaccurate and have broken pathfinding causing them to stomp around for eternity once you break their legs, breaking their brain armor makes them fire VERY slow projectiles which you can literally just side step, no dodging required, only thing that's cool about them is their stomps getting exponentially louder as they get close to you, which they avoid doing for an unknown reason, like come on let it kick me into the stratosphere is that so hard?

Weather differences in MP [Question]

Has anyone ever experienced different weather than a friend while your both on the same planet?

I have been playing for around 130 hours. I have completed the main quests and picked my universe.

My aunt decided to start playing the game with me but we are experiencing different weather. My home base is a paradise planet but she’s dealing with super-heated rainstorms. This has been in multi-player and normal mode.

Is there a fix/solution? Will it change once she was progressed further?

NMS Bases for specific purposes [Question]

just curious about this one but when you build a base do you build it for somewhere to hang out and expand or do you use any of them for a specific purpose?

I want to have a crack at building some fusion ignitors just for the hell of it so I've set up a base that's right next to a Sulphurine extraction point with a teleporter as well and 4 gas storage depots, this way I can teleport in, grab the Suplphurine and leave. The base isn't for anything else. Just that and I'm curious of anyone else has done similar.

Damage potential and upgrade modules stats [Discussion]

I was trying to max the Scatter Blaster on my multi tool , re-rolling x modules to find the best stats to have the highest Damage Potential:

3 % Damage + 1.0 Shots Per Blast +-25% Burst Cooldown + 20% Fire Rate

I noticed that sometimes some modules with higher stats give you lower Damage Potential than lower stats module.

So for example I had one module with :3% Damage + 1.0 Shots Per Burst + -25% Burst Cooldown + 18% Fire Rate with an overall of 12421 Damage Potential; I swapped it for one module with the same stats but Fire Rate 19%, so 1% more, but the Damage Potential decreased to 12410.5, so 10.5 less.

Adjacency is not the problem, the module was installed on the same exact spot. I also tried some modules with the same exact stats, and the DP changed again.

All my test were done by changing just 1 element, in this case that 1% more on the second module, everything else was untouched.

Here a detailed example of the modules with the same stats.

My base setup was: Scatter Blaster , Shell Greaser adjacent to the main module, and Mining Beam(<-- Can't remove it)

Damage Potential with this setup was: 4403,9

I tested with the x module also next to the main weapon to have adjacency bonus.

Both had : 3% Damage + 1.0 Shots Per Burst + -25% Burst Cooldown + 19% Fire Rate

Here the different values of damage potential after installing them 1 by 1 separately 6148,8 - base = 1744,9 6172 - base = 1768,1

The only difference was the name and the order of the stats written on the module.

Seems like the ID of the module also influences the value , and not just the stats. I don't really know what else it can be.

This makes it very difficult to find the best possible setup if I can't rely just on stats.

Is there any information about this, and overall about damage potential and what are the best stats for Scatter Blaster in this...

Intermediate player ideas? [Question]

Hi, I just joined and sorry for immediately posting. If there's already a thread for this, let me know. I did scroll a bit and haven't seen a similar topic.

I've seen a ton of beginner videos, I've got the basic startup done, early story done, I've got a few small/tiny planetary bases going, I have small scale Chlorine production making easy money, low-millions, decent fighter class ship, decent freighter, gear, etc.

What would you more experienced travellers recommend next? Story line, pursue the center of the galaxy, build a larger scale base and production chain? What are some good "intermediate" pursuits? I realize this is a loaded question in a sandbox game so I'm just fishing for good ideas or even video feeds.

I'm starting at a big blank canvas and need some direction. Thanks!

Future update suggestion/wish [Suggestion]

For those who have played Space Rangers 2 will understand what i'm talking about. Just imagine the scale...

NMS needs it's own version of Dominators and Rangers in the game. With same mechanics or mb even enhanced mechanics. I think it is possible. I think it will add insane amount of endgame content and will make this game much more meaningful. NMS already has most of other mechanics in place. We just need Galactic war and Galactic enemy. On top of that imagine different variations we could have for each galaxy.

(Undamaged) Fleet Expedition has a stuck timer [Question]

I have a fleet expedition that's been stuck for awhile now. According to the commander, "All systems nominal," but the timer will not countdown.

Is there any way to abort the expedition and force them to come back? It's one of my best frigates so I'd really rather not lose it.

My "A Trade of Metal" Quest is broken and I don't see a way to fix it. [Bug]

I'm on the part where I'm building the Hardframe Body and I made a contact to the Atlas beacon to get the Radiant brain, but I happened to die with it and I lost it. I still have a walker brain that I got somehow but I can't give it to Tethys to get a Radiant Brain. All they say is that they don't want to talk right now. Anyone know what I should/need to do?

Anyone having issues suddenly? [Discussion]

Never had issues with this game since launch… suddenly today my 3080ti can’t handle it. 5 minutes and the fans (basically) explode and screens go off. Crzy high temps.

Tried it again without any background apps once the gpu cooled… 3 minutes in and the temps were 86C

Honestly! Never seen my temps higher than 55 and thats even streaming valhalla and cp on max 4k

I’ve got an idea on how we can show our appreciation to Hello Games. [Suggestion]

First post on Reddit so if I did this wrong I’m sorry! So I was thinking hello games regularly update and support the game for nothing in return so why don’t we ask them to make a way we can donate directly to them to show our appreciation? They need to make money somehow and you can only sell so many copies of the game so I think this could be a good way we can not only let them know we appreciate their work but it’ll also incentivize them to support the game longer and thus give it a longer life without parts of the game being locked behind a paywall. Idk what do you guys think?

Question; what's your opinion on exploits? [Discussion]

Hi everyone!

Exploits take many shapes and forms of course. Glitch building, duping, free purchases, etc. Basically anything that's "not intended game mechanics".

But what's everyone's thoughts on exploits? Do you look them up? Do you run into them when trying to find how to best farm resources? Do you end up using them? Did it make the game better, or worse for you?

And also, what's your opinion on other people using them? Would you take handouts from someone you know used dupe glitches to get those void eggs? Do you take handouts at all?

Impossible to solve exocraft terminal bug [Bug]

My exocraft terminal npc sent me on a timed mission to a terminal to receive some credits. I made it well before the timer ran out and went back to the npc only for him to ask why I haven't went to the terminal yet. I currently have no quests for the exocraft in my mission log but have not completed the full quest chain. I need to complete this quest to move on. Here is what I've tried: saving and reloading closing the game and reloading deleting and rebuilding the exocraft station in same area rebuilding in another galaxy (no just system) warping to another system and back to the system with the exocraft deleting all exocraft stations, going to a completely new galaxy and building it hiring a new technician at the system

Since hiring the new technician, now it no longer asks why I haven't went to the terminal and instead just says "I should let the Vy'keen get on with their business". Ive repeated steps 1-6 again with no luck.

The timer was only two minutes, its been well past that so it should have reset.

Any suggestions?

Suggestion For Oceans [Suggestion]

The Current contents of oceans are kinda lackluster

Maybe add new content like having trenches that go much deeper than the oceans you encounter

And some unique resources found in said trenches

Then some hostile fauna for the deeper parts of the ocean

To add more threats along with Abyssal Horrors and Alluring Specimens This could give oceans more exploration

And also make more use of the Nautillus (since it is mostly unused except when doing the Dreams of the Deep mission)

and maybe this can be used to make the Dreams of the Deep more interesting as well like having to traverse deep into the trenches

*have the plane in the create mode (of Terrain Manipulator) be Horizontal (left and right)

Restore the world [Question]

Hey guys,

so I want to build my new home on a beautiful paradise planet BUT I don’t want to destroy the beautiful and shimmering flora. Is there a way to restore it somehow? What if NMS had a leveling and progression system? I have an idea as to how this would work. [Discussion]

What if NMS had some form of a leveling system? Right now there isn’t any reason to do anything. Why get an S class upgrade when there’s nothing I’m preparing for? Here’s a system I thought of.

Let's imagine for a second and say going to the galactic core isn’t as boring as it is right now. Imagine if you did 1 phase of an expedition, and it took you WAYY closer to the core. The closer you get to the core, the more difficult planets you’ll find. What if planets had classes? C,B,A, and S class planets. The higher the class, the deadlier it will become. In other words, if you go to an S class planet with only C class gear, you’re screwed. I mean technically it would be possible, but not recommended. Sentinels hit harder, storms drain hazard even faster, etc. This would give players a reason to get S class gear, and give NMS an actual endgame.

Now onto the part no one is probably gonna like, levels. With how this game is structured, I feel like having a leveling system to go along with this would really give people a motive to play. You can gain tons of XP in different ways, so it's not all about combat since I know lots of people here hate combat. So if you're a trader, explorer, or fighter, there would be ways to get tons of XP that fit your playstyle. Think of it as your own endgame. Levels would also dictate what upgrades you can equip. Fairly simple. You can’t equip a B class upgrade unless your level… let's say 10. This would matter especially when it comes to the planets. You can either buy upgrades like we normally do, or find them in the wild. On a C class planet, you’ll find C class upgrades, and a rare chance of B class upgrades. This trend continues with all planets. Now, if you visit a planet a class above the upgrades you have, it won’t be impossible. Think of it like playing the...

I am unable to have more than 6 of my own ships on my class A freighter. I tried to claim a downed ship, but only gave me the option to trade - summoned freighter and saw 3 open slots. Does anyone know what is causing this? [Question]

I can't seem to find anything online other than "you have have 9 now" but that doesnt seem to be true for me. I had to melt a ship to claim an S class because I didnt have the option to claim the ship on the ground.

Does anyone have any insight on this one? I have a Class A Capital freighter.

Idea for custom ship building [Suggestion]

So I had this idea that I think would work well to allow custom ship building.

A new base landing/fabrication pad and Shipmaster role is introduced. The player has to find ships and bring them back to their base where they can be scrapped for parts. Doing so will allow the Shipmaster to learn building plans for random components of said ship. The components that are learned keep the quality of the ship it was taken from. For S class ships you need to collect from save class ships. Once components are learned, the player can then start fabricating their new ship.

Like the living ship, it will take time to make the each ship component. The amount of materials for crafting increases with the class of the component.

This keeps ship hunting alive and well, and rewards those who put the time in it for the better class parts. Can also upgrade components with nanites as well.

A pop-up says I have only 6gb ram but it's not right [Bug]

Hi guys, I just downloaded the game. I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3, definitely with 8gb ram but when I launch no man's sky a pop-up says that I have only 6gb. The game works perfectly with high quality settings, so I think it's just a bug.

Noob question, does hauler take more screen space on third person than fighter or does camera just pan further? [Question]

I don’t yet have units to test hauler on flight (just started) so I am asking is visibility possible disadvantage for hauler when fighting?

I am dreaming of more ship inventory and read about haulers. I just swapped starter ship to B class solar and panels are bit distracting on fights (curent system has hight conflict so I get into combat often) + I don’t like how panels are open when I call ship on planet.

Game has constant FPS drops [Question]

Downloaded the game again for the first time since 2016, the framerate is horrible, probably around 10FPS. I now have all the settings on the lowest option possible which made it somewhat playable with occasional stutters, but now I'm in a space station for the first time and it's right back down to unplayable levels.

Here are my specs if anyone is wondering: - Nvidia GeForce RTX2080 - Intel Core i9 9900k - 32GB RAM - 2TB SSD

I checked my task manager and saw my graphics card was barely using 10% of its capacity, same thing with the CPU using around 25% at most, temperatures on both are around 55-60°C.

What can I do to fix the framerate?

And my god what an absolutely incredible game this has become. Never in my life have I played a game that has given me such an experience of wonder and exploration. It truly feels like an escape from reality, it's hard to describe the feeling of flying off that first planet and seamlessly flying to the second. What an amazing game this has become and I couldn't be happier with my decision to give it a shot. Truly one of the best turnaround stories a development team has ever pulled off. tl;dr: How often do you see other factions interacting with each other? Building bases, fighting space battles, defending from raids, etc.

Hello there, been following No Man's Sky from a very distant eye for a while. I like resource collecting but dislike crafting, so for now I did not jump.

I see that with the latest update, there are now "pirate raids" that can happen semi-randomly. How often and how interesting are these things?

What I love in games is when you feel that the world is living, and multiple factions coexist. Discovering empty planets and a lot of flaura/fauna is nice for a while, but it won't get me hooked.

Building bases seems great, but if it is just building for the sake of building, then i'm only mildly interested.

However, if there are factions in the game that are actually colonizing, building bases, fighting each other in space and/or on land, trying to survive hostile pirates (or creatures?), that would for sure hook me in.

If I'm alone in this world, fighting creatures and collecting resources, this is boring (for me, I understand some people love it).

If you do all this to actually participate in larger battles between NPC factions, fight off bigger enemies, get bigger bases and defend these bases from larger raids... Then I'd love it.

I ask cuz when it launched early and i saw the ingame notes it did seem like the standard feature pack patch focusing on a single thing. But now that the notes are online in their full size the degree of changes seems much closer to a yearly drop than the smaller in between patches. More origins and less abyss would be a good example i think. Hell the huge change to how they handle distance object LoDs also seems to befit a major technical upgrade ala procgen in origins or the volumetrics in next alot more than the more minor prettying up other patches feature. Thoughts?

Is it safe to play yet? [Question]

I've owned NMS since launch. I wanted to believe in their promise to bring the game to it's promised potential. And so they certainly have brought us so far!

It's been exciting watching update after update come in and continue to make this game the dream we imagined since the first launch.

But I haven't played in years.

Why? Only because I've been burned twice by bugs that ruined my experience. Bugs that always came from updates.

The first bug was one that ruined my home planet. It was a moon orbiting a ringed planet. It had red grass and hills. It was beautiful! And then the update turned it all brown. My base, everything just didn't feel right anymore.

So I left, tried to find another. Then another update happened that also broke something, I believe it was inventory related, but I lost real progress. So the game scared me off.

I thought to myself, fine I'll play it when the updates are done. But Hello Games seems like they're gonna just keep supporting this for the long haul, and I wouldn't be surprised if on their final update they announce a whole new space game they've been working on and it's the new big thing and then no man's sky is old hat.

I guess that's a lot to say just to ask, does this game still break your shit when they release major updates?

...sometimes it's the little things I appreciate most:

Procedurally generated upgrades for the Analysis Visor may now generate bonuses for mineral discovery rewards, matching the existing upgrades for flora and fauna.

Not sure why, but this makes me happy. It's not like I need more units, but the fact that scanning rocks was always worthless always bugged me a bit. I'd be vaguely irritated when scanning a cluster of plants and accidentally scanning a rock instead. :p

Exploration [Discussion]

Let me preface by saying I love NMS to the point where I own the game on all 3 available platforms and have sunk countless hours into all 3 versions. I do appreciate the continued updates, the continued evolution of the game, I feel that we continue to get updates that do not address the core draw of the game...exploration.

Back on the early years that's what kept people playing, at least until we all figured out that planet 45 was the same as planet 13. And it isn't juat planet variety, it's more what planets offer as content, planetside. Originally you could hunt downed ships ( which were more frequent ), explore numerous POI, look for unique fauna and flora etc... I understand they have added more to do with pilots now landing on planets, the archives, sentinel pillars, whatever, but this content grows stale rather quick ( especially for long time players ).

We need reason to stay on planets longer than the few mins we do now. most long time players have 6 max multi tools, 9 max ships, a max fleet, max squadron, and a max exosuit. What's there to do for these players? Units aren't an issue, Nanites shouldn't be an issue, so we are left to farm quicksilver which can be done easily and all synthesis items will be bought.

Add more things to do on planet surfaces please!! Maybe add in some SSS tech that's perfectly rolled to search for, collectibles to store at your base, some long lost exosuit cosmetics from the core races, hell are all the aliens on the nexus 1/1 or are their others out there? I'm just saying most end game players will burn through most of the updates we get in no time and be back to wondering what to do. We need time sinks that are enjoyable. Hell I'd stay on a planet longer if I new i had a chance of discovering something that i haven't seen before, acquiring something cool simply by exploring. I'll end by saying Inappreciate all Hello games has done and will continue to...

First Twitch Campaign Drops Still Broken? [Bug]

I've submitted two tickets to Hello Games about this and haven't heard anything, but was wondering if anyone else is still having issues with the first Twitch campaign and those rewards not showing up. The second and third show up perfectly for me both on the Hello Games Twitch site and in game, but no matter how many times I unlink and relink, the first do not show up. So many fantastic updates straight across the board for freighters and living ships in this update, but in the reading of the patch notes they don’t mention anything about current methods for upgrading living ships, only new ways through having organic frigates. I’m curious if the encounters with alien melodies to get a farmable void egg are still going to generate anything. As it has not yet updated for Xbox, I cannot test this out.

This is a 21x22 size so 462 free spaces to fit anything you want inside. I also calculated how much silver and tritium you need to actually get all of this space and basically you need 55.440 of silver and 9.240 of tritium so not that bad imo.

Also, I'm not sure, but the exterior platforms can't be built outside the 21x22 area. I tried placing them, but could only do so after deleting some spaces and placing them behind a bulk door. Correct me if I'm wrong since I didn't really experiment with them that much.

New patch, something wrong with derelict freighter teleporters [Bug]

I just visited after installing the update a derelict freighter, the MS Ebets. I couldn't activate inner teleporters (after airlock). They didn't "light up". Nevertheless, after trying to activate all of them I was able to teleport between the teleporters except the one one in airlock. When walked back to airlock, the teleporter there didn't teleport me and was not able to activate it (IIRC as it was before).

Not a big deal, everything else was as before patch.

I've just started playing the game for a week or so, and every time I run in to sentinels they keep spawning more and more and more.

How do you "defeat" them. The only thing I can do now is jump in my ship, get into space, kill the fighters and try to get to a space station.

Bought 4 Frigates, got 1 [Bug]

Finally getting around to getting some frigates in Survival. Bought 4 Class A Industrial frigates from one fleet. But only one shows up. Freighter glitch on opening a saved game. [Discussion]

So I login on my main save where I had logged out aboard my freighter. It put me on the bridge of the ship. I had a bridge of a freighter within the bridge of my freighter. It was like just the bones that made up the outside of the bridge. I was able to walk through it, but couldn’t get to some places. I like that there are teleports to the hangar on the bridge. I used them to get to my ships.

I figured to fix this glitch I would leave the freighter and summon it in a different spot. It did work. I did try reloading the save before doing the summoning, but it got a bit worse.

New Freighter Base Disappeared - Anyone Else [Question]

So, I logged in excited to build a new base. I dismantled my old one piece by piece to retain the materials. Realized that after doing that, I didn't have access to cargo so I had to go back to my settlement and resupply.

Went back to the ship, reset the freighter then built out a new one.

I wanted to recruit a new frigate so I undocked, flew around the system for a bit, recruited a couple ships, re-docked with my freighter and saw a wall. Recommended platform? [Suggestion]

I'm going to hopefully keep this short and simple, i want to get this game. I was initially super hyped and let down at the initial release but all the updates have sounded amazing and worth it. My question, if i have steam (mostly desktops with VR support, and a laptop i could probably run it off with minimum specs) a PS5(no VR), and a Nintendo switch. Which platforms are good/ are there any i should avoid? VR sounds fun but isn't a deal breaker. Decent graphics and mobility are going to be my biggest wins. Also do people mostly play with controller or keyboard mouse?

A "RPG" Update next? [Question]

Can we expect NMS doing something more about story and characters at some point?

I wish we would be able to play has an Alien explorer instead, or having the possibility to create ou own character instead of the same hollow shell...

Having some interesting companion along the road with their own motive etc, lot of Sandbox type of game add these feature and narrative element.

Or maybe im better waiting for Starfield? But it's a shame NMS world look really great.

Great update! But NMS devs need to know this one thing... Nobody wants to be forced into a clunky snail speed climbing procedure! And the old ramps were so cool to me, I miss them!

Hi in lieu of the new update I decided to hop back in and wanted to give psvr a go. I didn’t want to spend a whole lot since psvr2 is around the corner but wanted to give a go so I found just the headset for 100$ no move controllers. im trying to do the cheese of saving and warping into a space battle and if its a freighter i dont like i load the save and warp again until its better but my problem is everysingle time ive done with the freighter is always a B class with 27-28 slots, every single time. Im warping to different systems and they are all 3 star economies. can you no longer do this or am i just insanely unlucky?

Stuck frigates finally fixed! [Information]

I had this issue with a frigate stuck for eternity with the timer not moving and no way to retrieve it, and I know this was also happening to a lot of people. Now with the ability to abort missions the issue is finally solved just by doing so. Posting just in case it may help someone.

New Freighter Cultivation Chamber not working? [Bug]

For me the new Cultivation Chamber just doesn't seem to work probably. Some NipNip buds start growing and some just don't grow since they got the infinite symbol next to their grow time.

Re-planting the plants or re-building the Cultivation Chambers don't seem to fix the issue.

Using different plants have the same outcome.

I couldn't find a way for the new Cultivation Chambers to work probably, does anyone else have this issues as well?

Endurance Update - should I prep by base before download? [Question]

So I see there are a lot of changes and improvements to the capital ships, and some notes bother me. Specifically, notes that say things like the teleporter, large refiner, and a couple other things have their own rooms with this update.

I happen to have those things in my capital ship.

I’m wondering if I should delay downloading the update so that I can remove those from the ship? Will I need to worry about them breaking my interior otherwise?

NMS Endurance overheats my PS5? [Question]

So i just loaded into the new Endurance Update on my PS5 and until i went on my Freighter everything was fine. But after i spent around 3 minutes on my frighter my PS5 got extremely loud and incredibly hot. In shock turned off the game and the PS5 became silent almost instantly. I tried it a second time and it was just the same.

Anyone else got similar problems?

Player's bases as POI [Suggestion]

Since all this effort and attention is put into base building, why not have an option for the builder to enable seeding the base throughout Galaxy. So that they appear throughout the galaxy and on random planets as POI (Place of interest). So that the explorers can bump into unique handcrafted structures all the time while exploring.

Why!? My freighter base is completely FUBAR'd. [Question]

I am just so angry I don't know what to say. I loved my old freighter base, had tons of decorations exactly how I want them. But now I can't even access it because the corridors don't connect to the new bridge. I can't build new corridors to connect to the old, they just add overlapping walls. The ramps are gone, so I can't access the second floor, and I don't have 3 frigate salvage modules to unlock ladders. I can't access my fleet rooms to send frigates on missions to try and get new salvage modules.

It looks like my only option is to reset my entire lovely base. Which also returns ZERO resources. I hate it. I hate it so much.

freighter building is worse now [Discussion]

the new update has added lots of good stuff don't get me wrong but, i just sord of fell like freighter building is just worse now. first of all if you want more than i e level to your freighter you will have to use laders now, they are slower than the ramps we had before and don't really fell like something you would find on a massive freighter type ship to me. second researching the new parts costs selvaged frigate modules which can be a chor to get because of how rare they are. a new player also wont know where to get them and just be confused. and third as far as i can tell you cant transfer bases between freighters anymore which means that freighter building is a waste of time and effort unles you allredy have an s class with tons of slots.

I am thinking about buying some class A ships, upgrading them, finding a suitable pilot and exchanging the upgraded ship to them, then trying to hire them to my squadron with the ship I just placed them in. Has anyone done this? Did it make any difference in combat ability? If i provide the plot with a ship that has good weapons will it still just use photon cannons?

Crashed freighters should be a source of salvaged frigate modules. [Suggestion]

Unless I'm mistaken, I've never found them while searching a crashed freighter. Rarely find them in derelict freighters. After the update at least to me they've become extremely rare, as the prior method of farmer npc freighters seems to have been nerfed. With the amount that is needed for the freighter parts we should get an alternate source of collecting them, or at least make it a bit more forgiving. I mean you can find salvage modules for your normal base upgrades on the nexus on any planet all day erryday so I'm not sure why they restricted the spawn rate so much?

Also side note completely out of left field but I always try to find a way to complain about this, MAKE ROCKS YIELD YOU MORE THAN 200 UNITS. Why HG? Where's the love for the rocks?

Yesterday I went to some runaway mould farms, and got the equivalent to 100k mould. Today, after the new update, the same tour gave me less than 9k mould. Each runaway mould ball is now giving 120 resource tops.

How will the Nintendo switch single player interact with the existing universe? [Discussion]

I asked this question in a few places but not got a good answer so figured I'd ask here.

So the switch version will not be multiplayer, but will It still be in the same game world as all other platforms?

So if I discover planets, build a base, visit other players bases, use the glyphs to find ships etc, will that all work?

In other words, is the only change that I cannot see other players in game. Or will switch players be locked in their own offline universes?

Hope my question made sense, have not played the game but looking forward to pick it up on the switch.

Multi tool glitch help [Question]

Hi I’m fairly new and I keep running into what I assume is a glitch where the multi tool model disappears mid session and will not reappear. Further, it no longer functions on trigger pull. It still makes the Audis cue and ammo is consumed but nothing is damaged/mined/projectiles shot. Any idea how to fix this without a hard restart? Is this not a big and I’m doing something to cause it? Returning to my starship does not solve it. It’s particularly annoying as it’s happened twice now on abandoned freighter mission so I have to restart completely.

PSA: Do not delete all the rooms in your freighter [Bug]

Right now if you delete all the rooms in your freighter you won't be able to build rooms in that freighter anymore. This happens because rooms require an adjacent room to build off of, and if you don't have any rooms you won't be able to build off of any rooms. So don't delete every room otherwise you'll be locked out of base-building on your freighter.

I've already reported this to HG so hopefully it'll get patched soon but I figured I'd make a post here just so nobody ends up breaking their freighter in the meantime :)

My brief Idea for a future space conflict update. [Discussion]

I think it would be really cool if in a future update the black holes could spawn invaders but not just regular freighters or space pirates but a completely new space threat maybe an entire fleet of corrupted sentinels including freighters as well as a variety of brand new corrupted sentinel ships (something akin to the Cylons from BSG or the Dominion from DS9) anyway maybe these corrupted sentinels could come from an alternate simulation where they are even more tyrannical and oppressive then our regular sentinels (try to imagine it like the mirror universe from Star Trek) and whenever one of these sightings is reported our system would go into various stages of alertness until all the threats have been taken care. By coordinating with each space station and its Ai captain as well as by siding with and recruiting uncorrupted sentinels to help assist in pushing back any remaining threats.

Threat levels.

level: 1. would affect the local space station economy with fewer jobs higher pricing and less availability in trading resources.

level: 2. would increase all interstellar space hostility abandoned freighters on fire & ships stranded waiting for assistance.

level: 3. would trigger an increased presence in offensive & defensive freighter backup.

level: 4. corrupted sentinels would start to appear on planets and fight the uncorrupted sentinels.

Just an idea/ideal update [Suggestion]

I think it would be badass in the future if eventually you could join pvp combat with not only friends, but your freighter and their freighters. Fleet wars would be S I C K. Especially for credits and items. Or even event based fleet wars against idk maybe the sentinels or rogue sentinel units.

This game has already done such a great job and continues to get better and better, and personally if it doesn’t ever get considered, I won’t be hurt cause it’s already a great game😎

Unable to build and randomized freighter interiors every reload after deleting all base parts [Bug]

Not sure what's going on but DO NOT delete every single base part down to the last, luckily I have a manual and back ups save but my auto save is unsaveable. What I did was delete everything in the freighter building area down to the last where I could just jump into space on my freighter. I proceeded to auto save but the game would not allow me to place the corridor, so I reloaded my auto save..and now every auto save reload it generates a new layout and when I go to build I'm treated as a stranger with no items in building menu.

Putting this out as a warning so other people's saves don't get ruined and unable to be build in freighter.

[PC VR] Horrible lag, stuttering, mini-freezing with Quest 2 (cabled) 110% res-scale, 3080Ti, 12700K, 32GB DDR4, NVME SSD [Question]

Hi, I'm trying to play NMS in VR, but I'm getting horrible stuttering and mini-freezing every 2-4 seconds, making it impossible to even do a simple dogfight in space.

CPU hovers around 25%, GPU around 75%, drops to 30% and stutters badly in dogfights.

What could be causing this? How may I get it fixed?

Any advice for someone who's just a casual gamer and not very good at combat? [Question]

I'm just here for the exploration and side quests. I picked the game up again after not playing for a few months and the sentinel and pirate updates are kicking my ass. I can handle 2-3 fighters but I'm terrible at the on-the-ground fights. So far I've gotten myself a couple wingman to help with more intense ariel combat, but are there any new upgrades/ features I may not be aware of that will help me not get ripped apart every time my settlement gets attacked?

Does anyone know how to place just an empty freighter room in the new Endurance style? All I can see for the empty rooms are the legacy ones, and then there's hallways in the new style, but not actually rooms that are just empty.

Halfway down and all images just stop and get sluggish, I can't see it all. It should be lazy loading all these graphics to take it easy on the computer but I guess it's not working.

LIVING SHIP UPGRADES ! [Discussion]

in case anyone wasn't aware this update brings with it LIVING SHIP UPGRADES

i just upgrade mine to all s class mods last night, and tonight they now have economy scanners, scan scramblers & increased storage!!!!

literally every disappointment I had after finally fully upgrading my living ship and testing it out was remedied today. Hopefully their maneuverability got a buff in some way shape or form (either from new tech or just better scaling)

only thing i think would be cool is if living ships evolved as they went. it was my last thought besides just outright buffing them. all start with their base stat, but that base stat gradually improves via flight time, enemies defeated, and number of warps. kind of makes sense that a living ship would grow more powerful as it is used

currently extreeeeemely happy with what they snuck in this update, and if you did not read their full updates notes I only just saw it even having gone through the whole "patch notes" section, it fell under a QOL section

20 updates and still no improved flight controls? [Suggestion]

Don't get me wrong, loving this update so far. And I understand it's a small dev team. But honestly, joystick for yaw and bumpers for roll is SO unintuitive, even after all these years. For all that Elite: Dangerous gets wrong (a lot...), at least flying the ships feels like you're actually controlling them.

An alternate scheme, accessible from the settings menu maybe?

The First Traveller Issue [Question]

Having an issue with the first traveller mission - when I have to decide Artemis' fate at Nada's private terminal on the Anomaly.

When I get to the terminal, it just has the standard interaction message and the only option is "Leave".

No way to claim organic frigate in normal game after Endurance update [Bug]

Just update NMS to Endurance and tried to claim the organic frigate with my normal game (in the expedition I was able to get it after the fix).

No way to get it in my normal game. Whenever I try to claim it, the page with the green button "Add to your fleet" just vanish and I have no way to select it.

Still have plenty of space in my fleet, I have only 22 frigates

Playing on a Windows 10 PC not in VR mode.

System update was about 600 MB and was not there earlier today when I checked. Possible MS is patching something else which is why games are taking longer than usual to update.

Check for system updates on your Xbox and then go back to waiting impatiently for the game update. We're all annoyed... Hang in there everyone

Lost tons of supplies inside freighter. [Question]

Went back in to check out the new update and noticed that randomly my freighter has lost TONS of its materials. All the slots are still there, just nothing in them.

I checked an old save and the same thing is happening. Is there something im missing? I tried with mods off and mods on and same exact issue.

Also looks like my Cargo reverted itself back and a lot of the things i spent a year or more grinding are all gone...

Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.

Just downloaded the new uodate on PS4. Im not seeing any major graphical changes. Draw distances still the same, no large asteroid fields just new textures, no gas clouds....pretty much no cool visuals and ive warped about 15 times. Am I missing something?

Framerate: glitchy Fan: entering mach 2 Console: considering making it a hot plate

Might have to step back from the game for a bit and hope theres some patches or wait until i get a ps5. This almost 3 year old console is not handling the update well. Freighter base size limits? [Question]

I know that with the incredibly recent Freighter overhaul, maybe this can't be answered quickly. But this update made me finally decide to invest in a nicer freighter than my C-rank, unseemly starter. I found a design I like quite a bit, but it is smaller than the average freighter (which results in smaller cargo size but I install storage rooms anyway, and I'm trying to cut back on the hoarding). My question is, if the freighter is smaller, would this mean that the available base size for the freighter is also smaller? And even if I settled for a bigger one, or it doesn't matter what size your freighter is, what would the limits of my building be?

(Also, slightly unrelated question, where are the options for empty rooms? I've seen people talk about how you can get variants of rooms that are empty or emptier so you can decorate it yourself. I only see the plain legacy rooms as available empty rooms)

New update looks awesome, but saw that most of the new, shiny freighter base parts and tech need salvaged frigate modules to unlock.

Getting these things has always been a headache for me, so any word on whether the drop rates for them is getting a bump? Or alternatively, have the freighter base parts unlocked by salvaged data like the rest?

Honestly just anxious to play with the new stuff so having to wait days for industrial frigate missions to give me a small handful or grinding out derelicts and crashed freighters is a bit of a let down.

Always end up coming back to this game but i could do with someones help on what I’ve missed

had around 70 hours and I remember i last played when the mechs got updated so not too long ago but i think i missed a little bit

My goals at the time were to build a cool settlement and to make my mech good, no idea if I achieved any of those goals but ill see when i load in tomorrow.

Anyone else had to reset they’re base because the update changed too much? [Discussion]

I’m not terribly upset, but it still kind of sucks that the freighter base I had, ever since the update came out where buying a new freighter will keep the old base, was kind of gutted by the new stuff and had to be reset. My little prison room, my Atlas shrine, my war room, my garden, my overseer office, gone. It’s not all to bad though, it’ll be nice to start fresh and try new things with the new building stuff. But still, wish I would have took one more stroll around those hallways one more time before it all changed. Anyone else had to start with a clean canvas again?

Endurance Update Frustrations. [Discussion]

Hey all. I just downloaded the update after seeing it on the NMS site. Few things.

There is only ONE new freighter corridor available to me, and a few new rooms such as the vegetation rooms and the stellar harvester room. This is upsetting. I want to be able to build the windows and other cool shit showcased in the trailer unless for some damn reason they didn't actually add all the new parts.

Accessing the freighter cusomization menu to buy new base parts, only shows tech rooms. What the hell?

It says to press 'triangle' (ps4) while placing a new corridor, to see it's "variants." This does absolutely nothing. It just switches me to the wire building menu when I press it, then it says 'base out of range.'

No im not in the same system as my planetary base so that being the issue, isn't possible.

Organic frigates are nowhere to be found even though NMS claims to have added organic frigate encounters. Maybe they lied? Ugh..

Also, I noticed that the NMS team has STILL DONE NOTHING to fix the constant random crashing for PS4 players.

So between not being able to enjoy the update in its supposed entirety, im also randomly getting booted out of the entire game without warning. Constantly still.

Any thoughts or suggestions on what I can do?

Should I fight sentinel drones or avoid combat? [Question]

I only recently got this game and I'm trying to get a hang of some of these features. I didn't really land on planets with the drones on them until recently and they're a bit if a pain to deal with when you're trying to collect items.

I decided to just shoot ome and it aggravated an entire fleet of these drones and they seem to be coming in waves. It's actually kind if fun shooting them down, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Are the drops useful for anything? Do the waves ever stop? Can you clear a planet of these things?

Alternative VR control scheme [Question]

I tried NMS in VR in the past and absolutely loved it, but didn't play in VR for a long time because I didn't have motion controllers and KBM is no longer supported in VR.

I have recently got motion controllers so I gave NMS another try, and while it works well enough on foot, flying the ship is a bit of a nightmare. I wonder if there's any option I might've missed (or a mod) that allows for a different way to control the ship in VR (or a way to switch to KBM once already ingame).

Missing building components for freighter base [Bug]

Umm so, am I missing something? I just got the non-glass freighter corridor, and i'm missing almost everything in the build menu - things like walkways, windows, doors, refiners, trade terminals - i checked the research unit on the freighter and on the anomaly, i unlocked everything and there are no freighter building parts - is that a bug or am I missing something?

Day 1 player btw, my save is from summer 2016. Had some weirdness then and there but this is really annoying.

would be a bummer to wait for an NMSSE update just to add those plans

Twitch Stream Rewards [Information]

Can anyone elaborate on the twitch stream rewards for me please, they seems to start at 2pm BST and rewards seem to be upto 3 hours worth, however I’m still working at these times till 5pm. Do these streams just last the maximum time for top rewards? And if so are they replay-able afterwards when it’s not live? Or do the streams just go on for a really long time? For example so I could tune in at 6pm till 9pm or something? Appreciate the help in advance, don’t really use twitch or stuff like this so was a bit unclear

So idk if this is the right place to ask this. I have this game on the pc game pass(the xbox game pass sub only allows technical questions on the weekends for some reason) and for some reason, the update is simply not showing up. Ive checked the microsoft store to see if i can update it manually and its simply not there. Anyone else on pc have this issue. If so do you know how to fix it.

For the record this is the first time this happened. I was able to update to outlaws a while back. And the No man's sky patch notes thing on the main menu gives me patchnotes about the outlaws update. Let's not forget the horrific experience that was Leviathan on Xbox in the beginning. MS probably figures the Steam and PS players can beta test for a day or two. [Discussion]

Not sure about EVERYONE, but I know that Leviathan had some seriously painful issues when it first launched on Xbox. I remember having to save every 5-10 minutes because my game would just completely crash for no apparent reason. It stayed that way for 2-3 days until it was patched (if I recall correctly).

I know it sucks, but now is the time to put a few finishing touches on your pre-patch save. For example, if you want to start a fresh save, now is the time. It sounds like saves that were made pre-patch still have access to the old freighter parts. New saves post-patch may not have those legacy parts.

Silver lining, people....

I'm available for any fellow Xbox players that need counselling due to these patch delays. Love you all!

Endurance update- extractor room creating a door when others don't. [Question]

I have 4 of those extractor things built in my freighter, all built the same way. Only 1 insists on creating a doorway between it and the storage room it's attached to. I've tried rotating the storage room, but no dice. Tried creating a manual save and reloading incase it's just a glitch, that didn't work. Deleting the item + rebuilding also doesn't do the trick. Any ideas?

Anyone else suddenly discovering new flora and minerals on planets you'd already fully explored after the Endurance update? [Question]

I had found every fauna and flora on my favorite paradise planet, and I'd found all but two of the minerals. I spent hours and hours looking for the last two, with no new discoveries... that is, until this update. Now in the last hour, I've found some like five or six new flora and a slightly more minerals.

And all the old flora and minerals seem to be here still too. I just have MORE.

I haven't seen any new fauna, though – yet anyway.

PS5 or Steam Deck? [Question]

Hey all! I want to buy No Man's Sky, and I'm not sure if I should buy it on Playstation or Steam. I reserved a Steam Deck and will be receiving it late in the year, and I have a PS5 now. I guess what I'm wondering is

  1. Does NMS run well on Steam Deck, if you have one? Do you typically play the game hand held, or do you usually play it on your monitor when it's docked?

  2. I've seen videos of how to dock your Steam Deck to a monitor, and I know you can use a Playstation controller with the Steam Deck. Has anyone played with the Steam Deck docked, using a Playstation controller? Did you have any issues with it, or did it play smoothly?

I just don't know if I'd play the game more as hand held or at my gaming setup. If it's a game better played on a monitor for the majority of the time, I'll probably just buy it on Playstation so I don't have to wait :)

Returning player, moving from PS4 to PC questions [Question]

Sorry if this has been covered but I’m returning to NMS after a few years off but I’ve since moved on to PC for my gaming. I still own my PS4 and have hundreds of hours in NMS…is there anyway to move my credits or what have you, to a PC character? I don’t want to grind again :(

Stuck on The First Traveller [Question]

I can't use the private terminal at the Anomaly after talking to Nada and Polo and telling them I have decided. I get into the private terminal room but when I interact with it, leave is the only option I can select. Any tips? Is my save busted?

On PC Gamepass, Endurance update is just not available? [Question]

Bro this is crushing my heart right now, legitimately considering just paying the $30 to get it on steam and seeing if I can move the save over so I can get the update? My Highschool schedule hasn’t let me get a job yet though so I’m not sure if I should spend my money like that, especially since Gamepass SAYS it’s on Gamepass 😭😭😭

I’ve tried the Microsoft store, windows is up to date, I’ve tried the game pass app, I’ve reset and repaired the app, basically everything I can do without jeopardizing my save since I don’t think it has cloud features that would save my game if I uninstalled and reinstalled.

I’ve seen posts about this but none as recent as endurance I think or on windows 11, is there anything I can do to get the update? I was so excited man, please :,(

The First Traveller - Nada's Terminal Bug [Bug]

Greetings. Today I crafted the Mental Arc and tried to progress the Artemis mission. However, when I entered the Anomaly the arc dissapeared. I still could speak to Nada and Polo to decide Artemis's fate. Despite that, I can't access Nada's Terminal and complete the mission. It just says:

"NADA ENTITY AUTHORISATION REQUIRED: SECONDARY SIMULATION [5] RUNNING".

"The machine hums, glowing with a life and power that unnerves me. The terminal is scrambled, the display is unreadable."

I can only leave. I'm stuck. Did someone else experience this? I've tried searching for this issue on Redit, but I only found another quest-related bugs dated from months and years ago. The only information I've found is a post on Steam Discussions, posted 1 hour ago. That makes me suspect that it is a new bug introduced on the latest update.

Question about timers in the game… [Question]

Do the timers run outside of in game time or is it limited to when you playing the game?

For example - The blueprint research from your home base terminal says there’s roughly 1 hour 30 minutes to research the next file. Do I have to be exploring the world for that clock to be running down? If I shut down the game and go for a walk and come back later in the day will the time have run through and be ready to collect the new blueprint?

(sorry if some of the wording is wrong. still learning all the terminology. Hopefully the question makes sense)

HELP stuck in the new external freighter bases [Bug]

i remade my freighter base and at one point added a section that went out the side a bit(made a fancy bedroom) and when i saved and left, came back in 3h and all the furniture was gone and it had been cut off from the rest of the ship. i am now stuck in about 3 hallways worth of room, cant build, and tried reloading a few times but and verifying steam files but cant get out... any suggestions?

edit: i have a build menu but its empty, i can cycle to hallway but it says im outside of my base and cant build

Will I lose the plants on my freighter when the Xbox update comes out? [Question]

I heard the update changes your freighter base and I was wondering if it wipes your freighter completely. It took a long time refining all the Emeril for the sac venom in my permadeath save so if it's all going to wiped soon I'm going to delete the plants manually to get back the resources. Any updates on the Xbox update or first hand info regarding the update would be greatly appreciated.

Wire bug after new update. [Bug]

So I'm getting a bug when deleting a wire or part. All wires not on the other side of a switch from that part are getting deleted. So every time I try to fix a wire or replace a part in my base ALL wires get deleted. Every single one!

Leviathan expedition [Question]

Hi guys, so I missed out on finishing the last expedition in time but it doesn’t look like it’s converted to a permadeath save (still says community expedition)

After downloading the endurance update today, I noticed that all the systems I've visited that used to sell chlorine no longer do. I've visited several other systems, and I'm yet to find another one that sells chlorine.

Flight Assist Override does nothing [Discussion]

It may give 11% more maneuverability but the “Flight assist reduction enabled” doesn’t make a difference to me. Was hoping this would be No Man’s Sky version of “Flight Assist Off” combat seen in many other popular space games, but I guess not.

Questions about hunting for freighters [Question]

I'm new to the game and want to start looking for an S class freighter. I know it takes 3 hours of gameplay and 5 warps to trigger the save the freighter mission but I have a few questions. Is the 3 hours concurrent or cumulative? So do I have to play for 3 hours in one sitting or is it 3 hours on my save file since the last save the freighter encounter? Also with the 5 warps, will the fifth warp trigger it? For example if I have the coordinates for a freighter I want, do I just warp around surrounding systems and just make sure my fifth warp takes me back to the desired system? I've also heard when people trigger the encounter they'll leave 2 pirates alive and then autosave at the station but apparently this can be unreliable, is this the most common method people use to save time? Final question, I've read you can have a friend help you so you don't need to kill pirates each time, how does that work?

New Freighter Style Feedback [Discussion]

Things I have a problem with re: freighter update: for some reason, despite no open windows or doors to the outside, I get daylight playing across my rooms as if I had a skylight. Disturbing. I've always hated ladders. I think most of you do too. Now that we don't have access to the hydroponics tray, I can no longer glitch-snap things in place. Used to be I could perfectly place tables and the carbon standing wall planters by using the hydroponic snap point. Give me back a snap item and I'll forgive this particular aspect. We lost real colours. Muted tones are.. bland. Posters and decals don't show up well on these very busy walls. Makes it harder to navigate. Doors animations are clunky and slow. Bridge fog.

What I do like: The storage rooms are more open now. This is nice. Teleport to freighter. Short range teleporters are nice for big freighter bases. Happy to have the hangar ramp moved into bridge. Grow room variety.

Update looks good, but not including large fleet battles was a huge mistake. [Suggestion]

I see lots of people saying you need tons of salvaged frigate modules, and there's no way to get them super quickly right now. I feel like HG should've added big fleet battles that reward tons of Salvaged frigate modules when you beat them.

I can already imagine it now. When you approach the main freighter you'll get a signal to talk to the pilot, you can choose to leave the fleet be, declare war on them, or check the fleets stats. If you wish to declare war on them, this is where the stats of your frigates will come in handy in game. So imagine if all of the stuff you can do to prepare a frigate fleet for an expedition, you can also do before preparing for battle. And the classes of your frigates will matter if you're gonna fail or win the fight. Once your ready to fight, you select OK and your fleet will automatically warp in adjacent to the enemy fleet. All the ships shoot at each other, frigates deploy multiple fighters to the point you've got 25 V 25 star ships going at each other and voila your in a epic space battle.

After updating, began revamping and moving some stuff around, noticed a bug where my storage room 4 had a random wall in between it and my other storage unit (they’re all placed next to one another. I promptly deleted the storage room to try and replace it but now the game says there can only be one storage room allowed. Is anyone else having this issue/know a solution?

Im loving the Endurance update, but one major issue kinda messed up me entire freighter base. [Information]

The patch notes said that legacy freighter parts would be available, but one part they took out completely was the ascending/descending corridor, which were automatically replaced with the ladder modules. My freighter was 4 levels, and now there are ladders absolutely everywhere, and I will need to remake almost half of the base (which I’ve been working on and off for almost 6 months) because it was built around those corridors that are now sitting everywhere.

I love all the new stuff, but I wish they’d kept in all of the basic legacy parts.

Combat and Industry Frigates not spawning [Question]

So i have had a problem and im wondering if anyone knows how to solve it, For the past month and a half the only frigates that can be purchased are Support, Discovery and Trade and its screwing with my frigate mission. Can't stand the thought of doing the 'starter' quests for a new save. Options? [Question]

I've got a few hundred hours in, and so far since I started playing NMS a couple years ago I've started 3 new saves. The new Endurance update looks very cool, and I've not really 'played' in about 10 months (a couple weeks ago I dusted off a couple of my old saves just to see what was going on).

The problem is that I have exactly zero interest in doing those starter quests chains. The Artemis/Apollo/Base/Anomaly one. I just literally can't even bear the thought of draggin myself through those uninspired, boring, grindy, tedious quests AGAIN. -edit- And I am not interested at all in 'creative' mode. I want to play in 'normal' mode, basically, just without having to do the story stuff again.

I did some looking and found only one recent mod that could have let me skip all the starter stuff, but it does not work with Endurance (tried it, game crashes before you pick the game mod and says a mod is a problem... and I only have this one mod in the game folder).

From what I gather, you can't edit the save file to achieve my goal. I saw somewhere that if you start an 'expedition' save it automatically skips all the starter stuff, and after a few weeks or a few months the expedition 'ends' and the game converts to a 'Normal' game mode and you keep all your stuff and progress. BUT, the Endurance expedition is not active, and I don't know how long till it will be. And I don't know if I can start that save and just ignore the Expedition stuff while I get started collecting resources, scouting for a nice planet for my first base, and getting my first freighter, etc...

So.... options?

Do I wait for the Expedition, hope the one mod that was recently made for this purpose is updated soon, or am I missing something about using the save editor? Can I take my old save and strip all the stuff out of it that I did after finishing those main...

Endurance update is cool but mostly is a QoL update. And that's not a bad thing [Discussion]

The endurance update is mostly a quality of life update. The content in this update is not unappreciated, but it's not that much new gameplay compared to what we come to expect from most updates.

I'm sure that the work that went into producing this update was extensive as increasing the draw distance especially on consoles, allowing us to teleport to our freighter, and fixing a lot of the bugginess that comes with large freighter bases as well as all of the new decoration and building options for the freighter is wonderful. Not to mention the freighter having a system wide scanner now.

But as far as hours of new content goes this update feels a little light. These changes are good for the game and needed to happen but It does feel slightly underwhelming but I'm thankful for it all the same.

Fingers crossed for the big 4.0 update and some love for living ships.

Freighter External Landing Pads Idea [Suggestion]

Please give this idea a thought I am sure this will change the Freighter Base Experience to the Next LEVEL!.

So with the new Catwalks and external platforms, there is almost no reason to not have external buildable landing pads for the Capital Ship. It could be connected with either catwalks or corridors with doors and we can land over there and enter our base if we want to. Also, NPCs can spontaneously land and trade just like bases on the planets. There could be a limit on how many can be built by each player on a Capital Ship.

The Lower Hangar will still remain but now it will have our 9 ships in the same place at once, there will always be 1 empty spot, for the ship we are currently traveling with and we can park it over there if we want. NPCs will no longer land in the hangar but will land in the open external landing pads.

If ever the number of ship slots is increased we can still use our current swapping mechanism to change within the 9 ships parked on the hanger of our Capital Ship.

With the current scenario, this setting will look and feel much more realistic and organic to playthrough.

i need help with the "capture a picture" mission [Question]

the mission is to take a picture of a specific tropical planet. the mission told me to go to a specific area, there are a few planets around but I've scanned them all and none say they are topical. I've flown around the solar system making sure there were no planets hiding behind the others. my current theory is that planets don't always give a full description on the scans but the mission is telling me specifically to scan planets so that doesn't make sense.

Possible to migrate game saves from XBox App installation to Steam installation? [Question]

I have Game Pass Ultimate, which is where I first started enjoying this game. But now I'm thinking that I might want to just buy a copy. I'd prefer to buy the game on Steam to keep it all together with my other purchases, but I don't want to lose my game save.

Does anybody know if it's possible to migrate a game that was started under an game installed under the XBox App (for Windows 10) to a new installation done by Steam?

Or maybe I'm inventing an issue where none exists? At any rate, I'd like to re-install the game with Steam, but I don't want to lose my save. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Anyone troubled by the new wire clean up feature? [Discussion]

HG introduced a new feature that wires will be cleaned up if attached item is removed. This change bring so many troubles to me. When I deleted one wire, all the connected wires were cleaned up. Also, glitch building using wire also become a mess. Is is possible for HG to revert this change or give us an option to turn it off? Thanks.

1> My teleporter is gone, and I can't build a new one. So I can't teleport OFF my freighter, but I can teleport ON now?

2> I don't have any building parts for doors or windows or anything that interacts with the outside?

Can you use the Dream Aerial more than once? [Question]

When I was reading up on it I had assumed it was a one and done and if you wanted another living organic frigate you would have to craft another Dream Aerial. But the original one is still in my inventory, the only problem being it doesn't seem to be doing anything? So I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I'm missing something, or if I should delete it and make a new one. Living Glass is quite expensive to make so I'd like to avoid it.

Freighter stuff [Suggestion]

Sooooo new update out, adds some cool stuff, but it also removed the option to put stairs in your freighter and you cant see/place any more large/regular hydroponic trays which in my case (having freighter farms be efficient space wise and otherwise) is fairly annoying, i like the update but i also think we should have the option of maintaining the regular freighter look and style instead of completely replacing it with a new base one, changing half of my walls to the new update and keeping the ones i placed, sorry for the rant, the game is awesome, keep having fun playing and enjoy the new update :)

Does that mean we can go to the bridge and jump to systems while on the capital ship? The First Traveller Bug [Bug]

Hi everyone, pretty new to the game and I’m enjoying it so far. But I’ve reached a point where I don’t believe I can continue playing the game on this save. I don’t want to restart, so I would appreciate it anyone has any insight on this issue.

I’m working on the main story and have made the mind arc, brought it to Artemis, and went back to the Anomaly. At that point Nada tells me to talk to Polo and go to her secret terminal near the large teleporter. I make my way down there but when I interact with the terminal it only gives me the option to leave instead of what was leading up to be a pretty important decision. Has anyone else had this issue?

Stick Drift Exclusively in NMS? [Question]

Is anyone having a problem which can simply described as a sort of stick drift?

I have a PS5 so I know of the problems persisting with that, but it is only in NMS. If I'm on my character and turn a little bit, it will continue another 90 degrees almost. It also happens in the main menu. I was going to submit a ticket but thought I would see if this was happening to anyone else.

(It was happening even before the Endurance update I believe)

I’ve never actually posted on reddit or asked a question on here and i don’t use it too often, so please bare with me.

I reallyyy want to play the new Endurance update but every time i go to try and update it, it says there’s no update. I’m on an Xbox One S, and im using Game pass.

I’ve tried resetting my internet, uninstalled and installed the game twice, updated my xbox, and tried re-saving in the game twice now and nothing.

Collecting unobtainable items. [Question]

I used to play nms on console back when it first released, and I have just recently started playing again, I heard rumors there are still some of the older items out there. (A popular one for example is the Atlas stone) if anyone still has these items and is willing to spare me one or trade for one please let me know.

Vy’keen Capes [Discussion]

Sorry for poor formatting, I’m unfortunately on mobile.

I know we’re all talking about the new Endurance update and all the ups and downs that came along with it, but am I the only one who’s kind of pissed that Vy’keen seem to be the only race that can’t wear capes? I know it’s not the most popular race to play, but it’s my personal favorite. Maybe I’m biased by my preference to play as them but it seems kind of silly for Vy’keen to be the only race in the game that’s not allowed to wear the capes.

How should I play the game? [Question]

So about one to two years ago, I bought no mans sky, played for around 70 hours on the same save, had enough money to buy everything I wanted, built a couple decent bases, skipped most of the story or at least anything I could because I truly didn't find it all that interesting, looked for cool looking planets to capture some screenshots and that's about it.

However since then, every time I opened the game I just didn't know what to do, I tried giving a new save multiple chances, but the game guides you way too much on the beginning (by that I mean pretty much forces you to go here and there), and the missions you get are all part of a storyline, so if I really wanted any challenge I must follow the same story line, because there aren't seem to be any randomly generated missions, at least not big ones.

So every update I was so hyped maybe now something will change, but no, I still can't get myself to move through the beginning of the game, or even aim to do anything, because other then base building, there aren't many goals I found in the game.

So, please, enlighten my eyes, what can I do to enjoy the game again? I want to find more goals, and find a way to ignore the story line as much as possible while still have some new challenges - and by challenge I don't mean perma death, I mean to actually use my brain and not do the same thing pretty much over and over.

Update locked off a section of my freighter? [Bug]

So, I had a region that was sort of high. The game spawned a ladder to one level up but not a second one. There is no option for me to build a ladder. What is going on? I can't get to an entire section of the ship which contains the fleet command table I need to access plus half of what I've made.

Is there really no way to build ladders?

What if blue star systems were the reason you'd want S class everything? Planets are tougher, enemies hit harder, stuff like that. Even with full s class everything, blue star systems would still provide plenty of challenge and rewards.

Now that we’ve gotten the Endurance update and a large update to space and freighters, what are people looking for next? Personally, although I know it’s probably not gonna happen, I’d love to see them add different megastructures to the game. Things like Dyson Spheres, giant mining bases that allow you to harvest entire planets, small ring worlds allowing you to create artificial biomes and ecosystems, artificial black holes allowing you to fly your ship in one side and teleport out another, etc. What sort of ideas do you all have for future content updates for this already amazing game?

Decide ARTEMIS fate glitch - Hard stuck [Bug]

Hey fellow space travelers,

I have been putting off completing the main mission for awhile now but am finally doing it to get the portal and all black holes unlocked. Unfortunately I have hard stuck myself. When interacting with the terminal to decide her fate, I get the message notifications you receive if you go to the terminal prior to the mission. I did this awhile back which may have caused this glitch. I dont ever get an option to decide her fate, just leave. I've tried traveling as far as possible but I cannot reset the mission either since it takes place on the anomaly.

Has anyone else ran into this before? I saw a fix about someone inviting you to a multiple player game it may clear it up?

Am I supposed to automatically unlock Wiring ? [Question]

New player here ! Just placed down a bioreactor and was confused as to why it wasn’t working so I looked at the guide. It says to put down wiring which is located in power and industry but I don’t have any wiring there.

I’ve looked it up and it says nothing about having to unlock it so now I’m just confused.

Plants in new freighter rooms are not growing in some rooms [Bug]

The growth of the plants in the new freighter rooms is sometimes infinitely long. In some rooms they grow, in other rooms the infinity symbol is displayed. Deleting the rooms and building new ones doesn't change anything. In a saved game, the infinity symbol is displayed from the 14th module away from the freighter bridge, in other saved games earlier.

Endurance Update: The one thing that I don't believe is an improvement. [Discussion]

Unless Hello Games is planning on increasing the drop rate for salvaged frigate modules or putting them in as rewards for other things throughout the game, I feel like my progress as a player has been significantly reduced and locked out for the sake of grind gameplay. Many of the base items and modules that I had not only spent time unlocking previously, but spent the resources on building have been removed from existence.

My large and medium refiner cluster? Deleted. Go find salvaged frigate modules instead to unlock it.

My nutrient processors? Deleted. They were directly in the corridor's path going to the bridge and were completely wiped out. Go get some salvaged frigate modules so that you can get the ability to cook on your freighter again, also they take up a whole room.

Teleporter pad and suit appearance changer? Deleted. Once again, go grind for SFMM.

Thing is, I've been sending out all five missions of frigate expeditions everyday for weeks, as well as scanning for freighter wrecks and unearthing all of the cargo pods and in that time I have found only 2 salvaged frigate modules.

SFM is too scarce a resource to lock things I was already able to do behind a grind wall! Seriously, HG? Why did you make my freighter base useless now?

Does anyone else feel like this? Am I the only one that really relied on my freighter (I play survival) and enjoyed having that mobile base of operations wherever you could call it in? This all seems like a step back, but I'm willing to hear out other opinions on the matter.

How do you get regular build pieces on second floor? [Question]

Everytime i try to build a wall on a wall it always changes the piece to have an extruded accent. I dont understand how the game decides sometimes to change my second story pieces and sometimes leave them alone. theres no reasoning to either outcome.

is there a way to disable the secondary pieces from triggering? when i delete the piece below it they revert to the standard piece. when i put it back they change. theres no way to build more than a single story. half stories cause snapping issues. and full stories cause issues with the build pieces mutating.

Endurance Asteroid Fields [Question]

I saw a bunch of people saying that Endurance made asteroid fields denser but all I am seeing is sparser and solo asteroids? This is even less dense than pre-Endurance. I need a lot of silver for modifying my freighter and yes I could land on a planet and start mining but mining in starships is also fun. Is it a stupid idea to buy on steam? Really annoying to make hallways and have it open up into any space nearby Can you have multiple freighters in a system, or at the very least can members in your party access their storage units from your freighter if it's summoned (assuming they have the upgrades to do it remotely)

Be careful when deleting wired objects now [Information]

I dont know if the result is intentional or if theres some fixing that needs to happen but today I built a "temporary" appearance modifier on my base so i could tweak my character. When I deleted it after, it deleted ALL my wiring right the way back to the generators. Luckily I had a save so it was no biggie but it would have been a massive PITA if i had to rewire everything again. I know with the update its meant to delete the attached wire which i took to mean the first wire in the chain only, not the whole lot. So again not sure if intentional or not. I think it needs some serious tweaking or fixing though because deleting a wired object shouldnt strip out your entire network

Almost every time I go to my oxygen farm, it says I'm not producing enough power. Disconnect the extractors from the system and reconnect and now I DO produce enough power.

best/worst capital freighters? opinions? [Question]

I've been faring pretty well on my unit currency management and I'm feeling like it's time to drop my B class 17 slot regular blade freighter for something S class, and after reviewing the Capital freighters out there, there's only two types: Venator, or Sentinel... And I feel the Sentinel is dog shit, I mean, antennas in front of the hangars! Are you kidding me? Every time having to manouver to avoid them, its ridiculous...

No Sentinel exists without them right?

Will be doomed to find a Venator type if I want a proper S class? Or maybe some of the regular freighters would be worth it to try and find S class?

So here's a PSA: don't do more than one derelict freightor at a time. Turn in your manifests and stuff first before doing another one I bought two broadcasts in a row because I'm trying to get salvaged frigate modules. I used one, completed the freightor, than used another, completed it. Went to get my free one, and it SAYS he gave it to me, but it never appeared. Tried buying another one, and it too never appeared and now I'm fucking out 50,000,000 units. Looks like I can never buy one or receive the free one again. God dammit.

Starting again from scratch [Question]

I put 100's of hours into this game until i took a break about 9 months ago, but when I went to play again last week all of my saved data had just vanished.

After a week of failing to find my old saves I have resigned myself to just starting again from scratch.

So I keep seeing 2 things said over and over since endurance dropped. 1. Is where do I get salvaged frigate modules? 2. People tell them to pirate npc freighters

So I would like to address this and point out that after the outlaw update SFM drop rate in cargo pods has been drastically nerfed. It used to be a reliable way to attain them but now youre lucky to get 1 every hour or more.

A man named Nathan Patterson told Hello Games to include a marriage proposal in one of the many planets. He found it but it progressed so further that he forgot the planet. They searched for 5 weeks but couldn't find it. Then, another guy named Drew Baxter found the proposal and used to proposal to his husband. Nathen asked for the location but he had forgotten where it was.

The report was created in 2018 so there's no word on whether he or his wife had managed to find the marriage proposal.

Salvaged frigate modules and piracy with hauler [Question]

I think want to become pirate and steal modules and loot from npc freighters. This is my second playthrough and I was planning to have hauler (last time I had fighter/exotic and I want something new).

Would hauler’s mobility be issue in combat? Think weapon’s are ok, haven’t updated any ship weapons and they do fine on my high conflict system. Feels like having haulers big shield and tons of inventory would be bonus.

Currently I have B class solar that is desperately running out of space, haven’t even installed blue/red system jump modules. I saw crashed A hauler that I could fix (I know it isn’t best way, I just don’t want to portalaround, get sll money and ships and then be bored)

Or should I simply try to get upgrades or better solar?

Be cautious when buying new freighters [Discussion]

When buying a new freighter you used to just transfer main inventories and when the new ship was bought: poof, that ship then had all the infrastructure of the one you sold. Not anymore, new ship means neeeew ship. Just be more careful than I was and make sure to either deconstruct everything or transfer the mats to make your storage rooms again.

Hazard needs a rework. So early game it doesn't matter. [Suggestion]

Its pretty dumb that you can get one C class hazard updgrade and whatever planet its meant for means nothing. The environment, and the storm become pointless. And that's just C class. Kinda sucks so early in the game you don’t need to worry about storms or planet environments anymore. Anyone else agree? Anyone got any ideas how this could be worked around?

Coop (freighter) optimized? [Question]

Hey guys, I've left no man sky over a year ago because coop Gameplay had some limitations. Especially me and my buddy wanted to have a freighter base together or to fly together. But he was not able to use container on my freighter and use other stuff on it. Only barely. And when he walked on my freighter or stood still while I moved the freighter to another System or place in the same System it was very buggy for him. He often fell out of the freighter and died or something similar. How is this now with new freighter update? Was coop Gameplay optimized now? The last update I played was "desolation" I guess.

Refreshing the game save after a long time. [Question]

Hello. I've stopped playing after isolation update (lack of time, real life stuff) but now I'm trying to jump back. I've found that a have a metric ton of cr*p in my inventory that I either have a purpose for or know what it is.

I don't want to start a new game as I have a nice freighter, frigates and ships that I actually like, so I'd like to do some cleanups.

[PC] 612 Hours In and I JUST NOW thought to modify my FOV in the game files..... [Information]

Wow... Just wow... It took 612 in-game hours to realize that even though my FOV was set to 100, it still looked like it was set at like 50?! So I googled it and sure enough, you can modify your FOV even higher in D:\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS and open TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML with notepad and modify:

Yours will probably be set to 100.000000 for both, or whatever you set it to in game. THIS IS NOT A CORRECT FOV VALUE! 100 FOV in game is actually between 50-60 FOV in the normal standard. A correct FOV takes this game to another level I swear!

I usually start my game off by blowing up a few convoy ships for all their loot. It feels so easy and gives a ton of supplies I turn around and sell since it's mostly later game stuff. Did they remove freighter battles? [Question]

I did not claim my first free frighter on my current save, so I was very excited about the new update. After I finished the download of endurance, I crafted tons of warp fuel, to make as many jumps as possible in order to encounter freighter battles. Normaly they would show up every 3-5 warps, but I am currently on my 30th warp in a row without a single battle. Did they remove it? I found nothing in the patch notes about it.

Steam users are able to opt-in to the Experimental Branch, where we have pushed a patch to address some problems. We'll be rolling out these fixes to other platforms as soon as possible.

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Enter "3xperimental" in the textbox and press "CHECK CODE", then select it from the dropdown menu. The patch notes are as follows:

Question about freighter size/tier and it’s relation to storage capacity. [Question]

Found a 2 section venator class that is black in all the right areas, but I’m wondering if it only having the 2 sections of storage pods affects how many max slots it can have. I know endurance is bringing cargo storage to freighters, but I’m on Xbox and the update hasn’t happened for me.

Speaking of which though, after the endurance patch, can anyone say whether or not they can manage their cargo space at a distance with the matter transporter? (or whatever it’s called)

Can't buy freighter. [Bug]

I saved a capital freighter from distress. It cost 25 more million units than I had, so I decided to grind to make two stasis devices. It took all night, I'm like 25 hours in this save, and I get distracted easy. Anyway, I make the stasis devices, I go to the space station, and I sell them, and now I can't but the ship.

Living Frigates (What I've found out so far) [Information]

Firstly, if you are wondering how to find the new living frigates, it's quite simple. A returning frigate expedition has a chance to reward a blueprint for a new craftable item, the "Dream Aerial". Once crafted it works much like the anomaly detector. Have it in your inventory and pulse around. You will notice some flavor text down the bottom right corner of your screen. Once it finds something, cancel the pulse and a single living frigate will appear. Communicate with it just like any other frigate when you are in range.

I have done a little bit of testing, mainly on what affects their stats, what conditions need to be met in order for them to be recruitable etc.

  • The frigates seem to be unique to the system they spawn in. - Much like exotics and freighter mechanics. Meaning if you find a really good one with a specific appearance, you can post co-ordinates to it so others can add it to their collection.

  • Their stats seem to be UNAFFECTED by the choices you make in their dialogue - I tried jumping into the same unexplored system from an auto save point in another system, and tried different combinations of dialogue options, and it always came out the same no matter what. I found this quite pointless to have all this dialogue for recruitment and in the end, means nothing....

  • Their class is random much like their stats. I've seen all levels, with my latest being an S class. Unsure if economy level has any impact on class chance.

  • Once you recruit a living frigate, the Dream Aerial seems to go on cooldown, meaning it no longer will activate during pulse. As of writing this, it's still in my inventory after recruiting a frigate with item text unchanged. I am hoping this is the case as crafting new aerials for each frigate may get a bit tedious.

Why Endurance succeeded where Frontiers failed. [Discussion]

Despite all the grinding, base reseting, and other issues, this update wasn't all bad. It's actually quite impressive. Freighters are basically settlements in space, and that alone is impressive. Settlements didn't really hit their mark, and honestly the whole time I kept asking myself "why?". Freighters however are different. There's many reason as to why you wanna rank up your Freighter, as it makes tons of stuff in the game simply easier.

Additionally, the space overhaul is exactly what space needed. For the first time since launch, deep space is pretty damn fun to explore imo. Great visuals, and interesting gameplay mechanics, and really cool events. Space has never been more interesting. Hopefully planets can get a similar treatment soon.

Finally, the new nexus missions. The rest of the nexus missions are simply "build this, mine some plants" but these new ones provide fun engaging gameplay, and I really hope HG adds more experiences like that to this game.

Overall the update after Frontiers have been easily some of HG best in terms of regular updates. (Not counting big ones!) They've all been features with depth, which means "if you like this feature, there's lots of stuff you can do with it". Ontop of that, these updates have also been weaving together with the rest of the game. HG is going in a really good direction, and they should keep adding content like this. Here's to hoping 4.0 deepens the game as a whole, primarily planets.

Congrats on another decent update. It's got some quirks here and there, but overall it's a great addition.

Tree textures always updating up close [Question]

Did anybody else notice this on Series S ?. I only went on for a few minutes & loaded my save on a snowy planet.

Love how far the draw distance is, it’s the one thing that used to put me off. But now the tree leave textures seemed to be constantly updating in front of me. Not the whole tree at once it seem like bunches of leaves would change in some way and it was quite jarring.

New Freighter Cultivation Chamber not working? [Bug]

For me the new Cultivation Chamber just doesn't seem to work probably. Some NipNip buds start growing and some just don't grow since they got the infinite symbol next to their grow time.

Re-planting the plants or re-building the Cultivation Chambers don't seem to fix the issue.

Using different plants have the same outcome.

I couldn't find a way for the new Cultivation Chambers to work probably, does anyone else have this issues as well?

Multitool question [Question]

So I found an S multitool, dmg potential around 300, my A with all the upgrades says 5000, fair enough, then I find a B multitool with damaged parts and it has 3000 damage potential? Is that a bug? Or the S one I found was a shitty one? What is a good starting damage potential to aim for in a multitool?

Endurance Update - Stuck on my freighter. [Bug]

I woke up this morning, and opened the game. I had fixed up my freighter, and used the savepoint to save before heading to bed. When I got up this morning, something black was clipping the corridors, and blocking me. In. I thought maybe I can edit more parts in to move around whatever is blocking me.. Nope. The edit menu has nothing on it. It's all blank. So, my save is pretty much ruined at this point. Anybody else have any issues?

I'm glad this isn't my 500 hour gameplay save. It's the one from the last expedition. I'd really really be upset if it was my other game!!

This game sometimes looks like Death Stranding [Discussion]

I was doing a daily at the Nexus, i reach my planet, collect Activated Indium and then i get to deliver it in a depot, so i spawn my buffed pilgrim and zoom to the objective.

I have a playlist active and Low Roar starts playing, right before the delivery point there is a small mountain, i climb up and the drop of the song comes exactly when i see the trade station.

I swear, almost same vibes as the first Deaths Stranding missions.

Has the glitches surrounding freighter use been resolved along with this patch? There use to be a time I’d be hesitant to land on one as the freighter was full on invisible walls and I couldn’t go anywhere

Has anyone made the switch from Xbox / gamepass for PC to Steam [Question]

Given the latest slowness to get the update on Xbox and how fast fixes are deployed to Steam, I am considering pulling the trigger and getting the game on Steam. I bought it for Xbox way back when (before Gamepass) and have been enjoying the ability to sometimes switch from Xbox to PC. I mainly play on PC so it kind of makes sense to just jump on the Steam version from now on. Even if it means losing my saves.

Has anyone else switched from Xbox to Steam?

Currently hunting Freighters and finally came across an S-Class Frieghter Star Destroyer but it has very low stats and the inventory and tech are only 25 and 5 respectively, Should I just keep searching or take it and upgrade over time?

Normal Mode or Exibition? [Question]

Hello,

I havent played No Mans Sky since August 2019 so the last update i have played was "Beyond".

now i have seen, that there is a new game mode called Expiditions. As far as i know its some kind of Season mode.

And here is my question.

I want to play the Story. But i have heard, that there are special rewards on the expiditions mode. Is the story available in the Expiditions mode or can i only play the Story on normal?

*I dont want to play the Modes Survival, Permadeath and creative
