So I am relatively new to the game, been playing a week and a half. I read up on the expedition...was a bit iffy at first. I've played a lot of survival games though so I was like let's dang do this. It took me almost 10 hours (I know...KEKW!) but I finished Expedition 7! I couldn't have done it either without my S Class Kuchi! Hold up...RNG really did me dirty...

I found the coolest looking starship I've ever seen, but it's only a B Class. Should I get the 25,000 Nanites to upgrade it to A and then so on? [Question]

Today while I was buying some extra supplies at a trading post, I saw what looked exactly like a Naboo N -1 Starfighter land at the docks. Yellow paint with silver chrome, teardrop engines, the whole deal.

So I went up to the Gek that was selling it and bought it for about 2,000,000 credits.

It's only a B Class but I like it so much that I slapped on ever tech and S class upgrade I could find.

The only problem is....

I really want to max out it stats. The B Class stats aren't too great so I want to get it to at least A. It's just that it's so ridiculously expensive to upgrade the ships Class.

25,000 nanites seems like an obscene price right?

I mean.... 7,000 for a multitool upgrade? Sure?

I'd go 10,000 for it. Or maybe even 15,000.

But 25,000 nanites?

I don't even think I've gotten that many nanites in the 100 hours I've been playing.

What do you guys think? Should I forget about upgrading it? Should I save up and have it as a long term goal? Is there an easy way to get that many nanites?

Please let me know. I'd love to get your thoughts on it.

Is the game better on newer consoles compared to the previous ones? [Question]

I’ve not got the game but am considering buying but I want to know if the game is noticeably better on newer consoles vs the older ones. Like if it has a frustrating fps issues or super long loading times making the games a bit less fun I’ll wait until I buy a newer console but if not I’ll buy it for one of the older ones

the sentinel bug is the funniest thing I've ever seen [Bug]

I was in a manufacturing plant when a bunch of them came after me inside the building. I've spent the last 20 minutes farming pugneum because they won't shoot back. It got to the point where I was level 5 notoriety and there was a walker who just stood at the door as I slowly meleed him to death. 10/10 never fix I now have 1023 pugneum

I have been wanting to play this game since I saw it's trailers and well never really had a good enough system to play it on, but I now have an okay system and wanna know if it would play on it.

My specs are:- 8gb 2400Mhz single stick ram, Gtx 1650(4GB), i5 9300-h processor and no SSD.

I am content with playing the game on low or medium if it runs.

Hello there!

Aside from the main storyline, what do you recommend me to explore / dive into once I settled my first base ? I am no longer falling into what "beginner's guide" would cover, but I don't know what to use my money for : new ship, new tool, technologies ?

I bought the game out of curiosity when I saw the BAFTA award and raising Steam reviews. No regrets, I love it at this point.

Can I get an amen? [Discussion]

This happened yesterday, when I found myself about to put an end, at last, to Expedition 7. My eyes were heavy and my mind was already about to shut down, but, most surely blinded by pride and impatience, I decided to push it and try to end the couple objectives I was still lacking to complete it.

Blink, and I realise two hours have passed. A stranger was on screen, with a different ship. I check it.

Turns out I phased out, fell asleep while playing that permadeath nightmare. My character surely died standing on the wild, punished by the hostile environment. Maybe he was eaten alive by some T-rex with a small head. Or maybe he suffocated when the vital support systems ran out of oxy. That "stranger" was my Creative save. Somehow, while sleeping, I loaded that save I never play.

Off I go, to start it all again.

PSA: Don't sleep and play permadeath.

Teleporter placement problems [Question]

Hey all, trying to place my first ever teleporter in my first base. I have sufficient power, but it wont let me place it due to an error "limited to 1 per base" despite never placing one. Whenever I warp in from another system selecting my base I spawn at a teleporter in the middle of space and die every time. Any ideas?..

Why does no man's sky crash so often on ps4? [Discussion]

Well, I have come to a problem with no man's sky and by the title you don't have to quess too much. For me my self I like building in this game and sometimes it takes many hours to do and you don't always save by goign to your ship or manually saving. And then sometimes it leads to the problem of when the game crashes you lose a lot of progression. Is there any way i could avoid this sience i have lost about 5 hours of total progression and i am not planning on it rising no more. Any way or hints to avoid this happening? Well except saving more often than not...

Portal glyphs for void egg not teleporting to correct planet [Question]

I've just gotten to the part of the starbirth quest when the egg gives you portal glyphs. When I enter the glyphs in a portal, it teleports me to some random planet which isn't the one other people are getting. I reentered the glyphs three times and it's always the same. Idk if something has changed within the game.

Farming S class module at space station [Question]

I'm trying to find some specific S class modules and I saw a video of a guy that was just reloading is auto save to reset the vendors of the space station for new modules but when I do it, it's still the same inventory no matter what. I'm I missing something ? Did they patched this ?

Free derelict freighters duplication bug? [Bug]

This is in my current expedition 7 save.

Every single time I pulse drive, I get a derelict freighter. I never have to use a transmitter. I get so much somnal dust from this, I have over 100 transmitters stockpiled. It's always the same freighter. Same name, layout, and loot respawned.

Sometimes they spawn in large groups like this. This is 14 freighters (about 6 or 7 off screen) that spawned for me today. I obviously don't have enough inventory space to loot them all, but often times when they spawn in groups like this 75% of them have broken entrance doors that won't open. Also, after looting multiple in a row my game usually crashes. So, since I know that another will spawn when I pulse drive, I just loot one, sell and put away the loot, pulse drive, loot another, and repeat.

Is this a common bug that others are experiencing or am I lucky?

Edit: This started happening after I crashed a few times while doing derelict freighters. It still does this even after closing and reopening the game.

Accidently Deleted Save Game [Question]

The title says it all, I accidently deleted my save file. I am using Steam and Steam does have Cloud Saves, so I went and found it but I don't know how to use the file as its an .hg file type, I drop the save into the save data area but the game doesn't read it. Idk what to do and I don't want to start over.

How did I delete the file you may ask? I deleted a save game that I wasn't going to play anymore and yes I did select the correct file to delete but it deleted the other file the one I didn't want to delete instead.

Looking for some insight! [Question]

Hello everyone, I have been away from this game for about… 2 years? I originally played on PS4 @ launch and absolutely fell in love with the game and put in over 100 hours. However, I moved over to PC got the game again on sale put in maybe 5 hours then life happened.

So what can I expect to experience with all these updates? Will it be overwhelming? Is it worth starting alone or should I try to get friends to join me and start from scratch rather than my 5 hour save.

Is getting money any easier than it use to be?

Oh and is your first freighter still free?

So I'm currently trying it and as soon as the game started I left and went past my OG ship and tried to find an outpost,

I've been going for a couple of hours now just walking, and I've found countless towers, shelters, trade terminals, but no trade outpost.

Do they not spawn until you complete the first few missions?

Minotaur Insta death by horror? [Bug]

I just died at waypoint 4 having completed all of the expedition when collecting larva cores. I have max shields but I decided to flee to the Minotaur. I died as soon as I got in. Is this a bug or do horrors do ridicules damage to the Minotaur on purpose?

PSA: How to defeat sentinels quickly and safely [Information]

I've noticed a few people talking about not being able to defeat armies of sentinels. Here's the fastest, safest way to do it. And once you're done all those bad boys on the entire planet will be disabled for the rest of your session! 😊

If you have a Sentinel Boundary Map: Activate the map. Go to the pillar. Log in to it and deactivate them.

Boom! Mass casualties for all. 😈🤖💥🙌 Settlement Sentinel Defense These are similar to the attacks of corrupted sentinels when you loot salvageable scrap sites or when doing the mission to save a stranded pilot from the Nexus. Destroy the weird looking sentinels. Hide indoors if necessary and any normal sentinels you've angered will wander off.

Otherwise, for normal fights: Prepare Fill a cargo inventory slot with ammo for reloads. Fill another one with condensed carbon for recharging. Fill another with unstable plasma for paralysis mortars. Charge up your hazard protection and health and keep recharges in your inventory. Find any kind of shelter or base to use as your battle zone. Teleport exocraft to strategic locations around it. Call your animal companion and have it hold ground at an escape location. Be ready to escape either indoors or flee in one of your vehicles or on your mount so your shield can regenerate if the battle isn't going well. An advantage to fleeing indoors is any drones that follow you will be confused and you can take them down easy! 😁 Alert Level One Enrage some of them. Don't pick up any loot unless your shield is getting low. They will recharge it a bit. 😉 Kill the tiny repair drones right away. As quickly as possible, wipe out the triangular summoner drones so they can't teleport reinforcements. Mop up everything else. Prepare yourself for round two. Alert Level Two Do the same as above, but... This round will launch two staggered waves of drones, so be mindful to wipe...

I've always had a base on my freighter. I've built everything I need on it; storage, terminals, crafting, ship storage, ect... I've found this is really useful because i can take my base anywhere. Should I build a permanent base on a planet or should I just keep using my freighter?

It's an abandoned wreck. I claimed it, but looking at how many weird materials I've never even seen yet I need to find I am starting to think I made a mistake. Should I abandon it?

I only recently found the anomaly. I don't have a freighter. I have a simple base with only a solar, battery, and portal to speak of (for persistent access).

In other news, I found once a badass 5 mill tool, but was too poor to buy it at the time. I have yet to be able to refind it. It seems that locations/items are persistent and should be shareable, as I see people asking for coordinates all the time. As a noob, I would like to go buy it now (have more than 18mill creds due to buying local goods and selling to other areas with demand via portal system) but IDK how to find it. Any tips on that are also welcome.

Issues today? [Bug]

Did the basics, restart and what have ya but all of my bases are mis-behaving.

Currently none of my proximity sensor doors are opening.

Storage Hoppers are showing empty, and mineral extraction rate is 0 because capacity has been reached?

BioDomes are making the harvesting plant noise when I am just in proximity of them (underneath and not climbed the ladder yet).

Anyone else getting odd bugs this morning?

Is there a way to find out where a companion is originally from? [Question]

I have a companion that I recently got but no matter where I go looking in my Discoveries tab I can't find any planet that contains them. Literally they are just a rainbow ball with floating eyes inside of them, so they are probably exotic. The issue is I didn't register or scan him I just instinctively adopted cause I loved them.

Now that I am trying to breed for another one I need to be on their native climate and I can't find out what that is.

Personal summary of the 7th expedition [Screenshot]

After spending nearly 100 hours on the 7th expedition I've managed to accomplish several of my goals, however, not all of them. I must admit that I almost rage-quitted this expedition after dying in the middle of it. But I'm happy I've carried on. I think I'm gonna keep this save and continue working on it. Sentinel spawns? [Question]

Hey guys, I am trying to play this game with my gf and no matter what she does, sentinels spawn like crazy!!!

I am able to go to planets just fine, but she lands on planets and gets attacked by sentinels. She flys from planet to planet and gets overtaken by sentinel ships and has to do space battles, CONSTANTLY, to where it isn’t even fun.

Is there something we are missing that could lead to them endlessly spawning?

There's a little secret about ship scrapping [Screenshot]

This is probably going to be old news to some but I discovered a couple things while I was scrapping that might be helpful

So - what I was doing - Hanging out at a BOOMING economy space station. I like to do this cuz the quality of ships is higher (more A and S classes and an exotic now and then). Scrapping A classes gives you about 600-900 nanites if you sell the upgrades to the NPC's. You lose money on scrapping overall but I've got money to burn so no big. When you scrap it kicks out random useless junk you have to sell but also some minerals that are useful.

Ok, so what's the secret? Well - while you're doing this, buy and sell from the pilots. Buy what? well I buy all their minerals but once in a while they'll pop in with Di-Hydrogen Jelly. ALOT of it! 650 isn't unusual. 10 Jelly = 500 Di-Hydrogen if you refine it. That's 6500 Di-Hydrogen with a click! In an hour I only found one pilot with it but plenty with Tritium and bought all of that and most of anything else they had. Ended up with 10,000+ of almost every mineral you can think of and enough Fuel to last a week for all the Frigate missions and thousands of nanites and a new exotic!

A problem with nms [Discussion]

I love this game so much. But I have one major tick with it; there is absolutely no single player.

I've tried to turn off multilayer, but every system I run into has already been discovered. I just want to explore without having the constant reminder that there are a thousand players like me.

My main thing is that I focus on discovering animals and planets, and renaming them to what fits me. But I can't do this if every system I go to had already been discovered. It discourages me from playing.

FYI - Refiners and changing your current Galaxy [Information]

I don't know if this is common knowledge, but when you change your Galaxy via Base Teleporter, everything in your refiners from the first galaxy disappears when you come back to it.

I lost out on about 8k nanites yesterday finding this out. Made a base in the Eissentam galaxy recently and was hopping between bases to find a good system to sell my Circuit Boards at best price. Prior to, I had also set up my Runaway Moulds in my refiner base to idle away while I was playing the market. After going from Eissentam Galaxy back to Euclid Galaxy, I find all of my refiners empty. I wasn't sure what happened at first but then assumed the Galaxy swap might have been the issue so set some Moulds as a test - swapped to Eissentam, then back to Euclid, and again the refiners were empty. Obviously the nanites are nothing I can't make up easily, but the science and discovery of this for me was priceless. Hope this helps prevent someone from making the same mistake I did!

How do you find crashed ships? [Question]

I am relatively new to this game, and have a few questions about crashed ships.

How do you find them and what are some methods? I find them using planetary maps and the odd transmission tower, however finding transmission towers takes forever for me it seems and is rather unenjoyable

Is there anything you look for in a planet or system when going to find ships? Do higher economy systems have more high class ships, do planets that are either extremely cold or hot have less wrecks with living crew, does fhe race of a system effect the type of ships found(are haulers more likley to be found in gek systems?)

Are there crashed ships in pirate systems?

Are solar wrecks extremely rare or have I not found one yet?

Why does the same exact ship keep spawning at the crash sites (in 1 system across different planets oil found 4 of the exact shuttle, down to name, parts, paint, etc)

Are shuttles the most common type, or am I extremely unlucky?

Are pilots more likley to be at the crash site on paradise planets?

As you may be able to tell, I have a lot of questions, if you do respond, thank you.

farming struggles!!! [Question]

trying to create a nice AI farm to rack up some more money and upload. but i seem to be having issues with my solar panel/battery/ mineral extractor ratio. it will run during the day, and the solar panels will charge the batteries and run the extractors. but at night the extractors stop and the batteries wont run them. they still have plenty of charge to do it when the sun goes down. what am i doing wrong?

Sentinel drops - pickup with "e" or shoot/mine them? [Question]

Does it make a difference? It seems picking them up with e gives you the shield regen, but besides that?

Does sentinel farming compete well with ship scrapping for nanites? I have something like 50k, but I want to upgrade an A class MT. I'd rather not take it for free from gate coordinates.

Found my first paradise moon! [Discussion]

Have been doing alot of different quests. So I started doing the atlas mission. Artemis is done. Side not I've been collecting glyphs just by warping on the atlas path. So I warped to my next atlas system and boom , a paradise moon. Everything is cool about, even has some interesting fauna. Only thing is, so far at least , no water. My base right now is on a lush planet , it's almost a paradise but does have heat storms and really no fauna, just a couple lil guys. Anyways I'm going ro build up a 2nd base , at least get all the basics and ill have 2 bases to teleport 2 now. Guess that's it, was just happy because first paradise planet/moon!

A little direction [Question]

So, I've owned the game for years and years, never really played it beyond getting a warp drive, but the amount of amazing and cool looking updates I've been seeing over the years have got me curious again.

So far I'm further in Artemis' quest than I've ever been, met Apollo, boarded the Anomaly a couple times. I've been doing side missions and blowing up pirates that turn up for standing and profit, have a couple million units and 1.5k nanites (nada, I'm sure)

So far I'm really enjoying it, and not having the same issue I usually have with these type of games (like Minecraft, build anything you like, but why? No objectives, etc)

I just wondered is there anything I should really be doing or aiming for in particular? What are some particularly awesome missions to check out? I'm hesitant to build a base because on a planet because it seems I spend my time warping from galaxy to galaxy for stuff anyway, and I'll eventually get a frigate I can build a base on. Here are the current missions / objectives I have (excluding mission board and upgrade stuff): Ghosts in the Machine (up to the build a base and staff it with specialists bit) The Atlas Path The Space Anomaly Under a Rebel Star As well as an exploration guide one (chart a whole planet I guess) and searching base computer archives

I just feel like there's so much I can go and do, sure, but not too much impetus to do it. Any pointers or directions would be appreciated! Hopefully I can get a nicer ship some day, I've seen the Radiant Pillar too much on previous attempted playthroughs, but this one has gone on the longest yet!

Player 2 player coop exclusively possible? [Question]

I’m looking at getting into No Man Sky with a friend. But we want to play only together. How much of the game can be experienced in this way, or maybe more to the point is there anything we can’t do together?

Story - can we go through the story together or would we have to do each mission twice?

Bases - can we both work on the same base. Also, would only one of us go through the base building quest?

Freighter - can both of us interact with the one freighter?

Dungeons - can you do the same dungeon together?

Is there any other limitations we should be aware of playing in this format.

Having looked at some tutorials the approach we would use would be one player would be the primary player and the other would always be the joiner. Would this be the right approach?

Help! Can't start Living Ship Quest??? [Question]

I recently completed the living ship quest but because I was a bonehead and didn't leave an empty slot I was unable to claim the ship. I didn't want to swap one of my ships for it because they were worth a lot of money. So, I left a marker, went to the space station and sold off one of my ships to make room. Went back to my marker and the living ship was gone! Tried reloading the autosave and it was still gone (replaced by a crappy c-class shuttle). Still had a cracked egg in my inventory and the quest was still showing up in the log. Got frustrated and closed the game.

Came back today and the egg is gone, the quest is gone but the recipes for the various living ship parts are still in my catalogue. So, I went to the anomaly and bought another void egg - expecting to restart the quest or possibly have it register as a second ship (even though I was unable to claim the first one). But no matter how many times I pulse around and no matter for how long nothing happens! I tried activating an anomaly detector to see if that would trigger it but no matter how many times I pulse or how long I can't find anomalies either. Been to 3 different systems portaled to another but no anomalies or living ship quest!

Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

distress signal blocked [Bug]

I'm doing the part of the awakenings mission where you follow the distress signal in order to get the hyperdrive but it seems the freighter has clipped into a volcano and I cannot reach the module. Is there anything I can do or do I have to restart my entire save?

What's the probability of finding an S class multi-tool cabinet on a space station? [Question]

I figure it is less than 1%. I've only seen two ever. The first, I didn't know the save scumming strategy. The second was the technician in my own base and I was able to get a nice experimental. The nanite cost to upgrade the aesthetically pleasing alien (exotic) class B is just insane. The A class boring looking one I have, only a bit better at 50k. But the time wasting to hunt one down is getting just dumb. Any advice to improve my odds besides gating to a known case?

What are community events like the leviathan expedition about? [Question]

I have been wanting to try out the leviathan expedition for a long time now but I don’t want to speed run the game. I am assuming the expedition is just a speed run through the game which gives you a lot of rewards. Is it like that or is it something that doesn’t pertain to the story at all? Stone/alloy building parts not snapping [Question]

I usually use Prefab structures to build my bases (I like that they don’t require wiring), but I’ve recently started building on the outskirts of my settlement, and to match it, I’ve been using stone. I’ve been having issues with flooring tiles not wanting to snap into place, also happens with some walls and some roof parts. Is this a common thing? I tried to Google it and all I found were older snapping issues with different parts than I’m using.

Settlement randomly owes 2 billion+ Units [Bug]

My settlement was growing well - finally above board in terms of productivity vs maintenance cost where I was able to harvest production. A new construction opportunity came along for a 'pumping tower' which said it would increase my productivity by 40,000+ units and the majority of my settlement wanted it. So I chose that. Next thing I know, we're 2.147 billion units in debt and it will take almost 9,000 days to pay off.... what gives? Is this a normal part of settlement development?

Question about freighters [Question]

Kind of a new player here. So let's say im playing for a few hours and a freighter attack starts, so reload my save and warp to all the tier 3 systems in my area, but because I'm really unlucky, none of them are the ones i want, and my warp range isn't far enough to explore more.

So if i go to the space station portal and warp to another discovered station far away, will a ship raid spawn when I'm there? Will the ship raids stop and i have to wait another 3 hours? Or will nothing happen and i can warp to the systems that are around the system that i am in so i can search for a better freighter.

derelict freighter quest bug [Bug]

So i done my first ever derelict freighter and the first one worked fine i handed in the captains log and the crew manifest no issues at all.

How ever every single one i try to do after i get the quest it tells me to go back to the space station and when i get near the quest disapeared and nobody on board the station accepts my crew manifest or captains log is this a known issue ?

Died to fall damage during a fight with sentinels that I was winning. Now I have to start over from the beginning, and every aspect of this expedition seems designed to waste time I don't have. Sure, I get upgrades sooner this time around, but none of them help you walk 1500 u on extreme planets, like you have to do for every anchor point AND memory point. i have this game base; a puzzle, riddle, maze, mystery game. 7 levels. came back to check on it since the last update and it’s all broken. power inverters don’t work anymore, switches are wired to incorrect parts, teleporters are incorrectly wired and lead all to the same location. it’s all fucked.

Polo Expedition 7 X-class upgrades Juiced [Suggestion]

I havent seen this mentioned yet: as some already know once this Permadeath Expedition 7 ends it turns into a survival mode save. To anyone considering continuing the save every one of the X-class upgrades Polo gives in exchange for Liquid sun, the memories or somnal dust is in the top tier of upgrades. Every pulse engine upgrade I've opened is 13 maneuverability and up, Hyperdrives are all about 275+ lightyears, scanner upgrades for the multitool are huge, etc. Even if you aren't too concerned with the community goal those upgrades are worth the trouble in case anyone wants to grind the last couple of days.

Practical purposes of bases? [Discussion]

So I went on the hunt for an earth like planet, and after many hours over the course of several days I finally found the perfect earth-like home. The temperature is good, the colors are all correct including ground, ocean, and atmosphere, and there are no storms or sentinels.

Now I have several other bases across the Euclid galaxy already, and all of them are either activated indium farms or bases for purely cosmetic purposes.

On this new planet which I’m making my home, I wanted to build a base that was practical and had actual in-game value. A base that did something that helped me progress my character or the game in some way shape or form. So what are bases for then? I think back to my time playing Minecraft and am tempted to define a base as a place where you keep your items safely stored. But in NMS you don’t need a base for that, your inventories are all huge and you can keep all your storage crates on your freighter. You could make a farming base but that doesn’t make nearly as much money as an activated indium mine, and I’m at the point in the game where I don’t need the materials grown from farms that much.

Ultimately the question is this: what kind of base should I be looking to make to establish this planet as my home if I want something practical and not merely cosmetic?

[Multi-tool Hunting] Sentinel Pillar Behavior [Question]

I found a couple of nice multi-tools at sentinel pillars, planning to share them on the coord exchange sub. But before I do so, I want to make sure:

So I went back to the pillar where I found a B class royal via the glyph codes to double check the location details and put down a comm ball. The pillar doesn't have the option to extract weapons technology anymore. I guess that's because I bought the tool and was carrying it with me? Others should still find it, right?

That would make the pillars behave differently from a normal cabinet - when I go to a "normal" MT cabinet from which I bought a tool before, I would still find the same tool available.

Sanity check me? [Question]

I just finished the expedition in a solid day, man was it a grind. My least favorite so far. The permadeath wasn't a big deal, but some parts felt weird. Were they normal? or only normal for this expedition?

My first save a freighter from pirates event ended with the bloke trying sell me the ship for 6 billion units (I didn't have that starting out) I thought the first one was free?

Did tech's always cost such a crazy amount of nanos? Did they get upped? or is it only high for this expedition? It took me a solid fo eva to get an advanced mining laser (750) and I never did get the personal refinery (over 3k)

Not gonna lie, I think my least favorite part were the temporary rewards (not the keep after the expedition ones) It was so micromanaging, and random, and I kept ending up with piles of exo-tech in my inventories that I couldn't use because I wasn't building them. I got way too many dupe techs. I would have rather been rewarded useful specific techs I could count on getting if I died, or piles of nanos so I could select what I needed most. . something else.

Fed myself to the whale by accident, that freaked me out because I hadn't collect unbound yet, but my game glitched and crashed and reloaded me before, narrowly avoiding disaster. . .

Hi, I just experienced that items have vanished from my base, more specifically my refiners. I put things in the refiners, went on a mission for 20 minutes and when I came back the refiners were empty. Did they vanish as bug or did someone steal them? Help, please.

Insanely long load times? (PC, steam) [Question]

hello, interlopers!

I've been playing NMS for a couple weeks now and as of a few days ago, teleporting and saving has started taking incredibly long. Usually around 5-10min. After that period the game seems to run fine again until I need to save or am in an auto-save situation. I did some reading but nothing I ran across has helped.

things I've tried: clearing the SHADERCACHE dir having steam 'validate content' uninstalling the game and re-installing to a different HDD windows disk/error checking (nothing found) turning graphics settings down

It may be worth noting it's usually not the first loading that hangs. the initial start of the game and load of the save seems fine and I can save all i want until I try teleporting or happen to travel to another planet/station and then try to save, at that point it takes 5-10min before i can play again.

anyone have suggestions or maybe know a fix?

Leviathan... [Question]

So are you telling me, I just did every fucking Milestone on every phase all the way up till half way through the 4th, and one of the 5th, and then died by some stupid space fucking creatures... and now I have to do them all over?! WTF DUDE, I get the perma death, I get the challenge man, but I already unlocked the rewards for the first 3 Iterations.. so why do they not count towards the final goal and reward at the end?! I was so hyped to find out about this cool ass freighter, so much so I came back to the game JUST to get it.. now I don't even think I wanna grind it anymore.. idc that I have to start over.. but why can I not just rush through, get to Iteration 4, finish it and the 5th, and claim the end reward.. I already did it all.. beyond frustrated.

Building a Matching Squadron [Discussion]

I'm trying to build a matching squadron. As I understood it. All you had to do is exchange the ship you want in your squadron with an npc at a space station, then recruit the npc. For some reason in every space station the npc that spawns after I exchange ships is the same npc name: "Workgek Ingparo". It's a different system, but the npc name is always the same and therefore won't let me recruit them. Is anyone else having this problem?

Question about Official Records from Derelict freighters [Question]

After having cleared the first one I had found, I went and had turned in the captains log to a scrap dealer, though neither the scrap dealer or the envoy would take crew manifest, so I’ve just held on to it just in case.

I just completed my second derelict freighter, and not only did the quest and freighter both disappear as soon as I left for the space station, but now I have 2 crew manifests and 1 captains log that nobody will take.

Is there a way to fix this?

I just started playing NMS 2 weeks ago, I am on maybe 4 hours of game play. I am in the player anomaly and some rando gives me a stack of AI Valves (5). I have no idea what they are and I miss read the value to 250k at the time. I held on to them for a while then later sold them and to my surprise I now have 250 Mil sitting in my inventory. What?!!!

I never did say thanks to the kind bloke as I didn't know how at the time. But thank you kind rando as I now have a dope ass starfighter!

Tips for fighting sentinels? [Question]

I get my butt kicked after the first wave or two. What kind of upgrades should I invest in for my multitool for combat against sentinels?

Worth noting, I have a B-rank rifle multitool. I check every single station I visit for an upgrade and have not found a better rifle yet. Meanwhile I have visited enough stations to fully unlock every single slot on my exosuit. Bad luck I guess

Getting the Permadeath & Survival achievements / trophies from the Leviathan expedition [Discussion]

After finishing the Leviathan expedition, on a whim I visited the last anchor point and used the portal to warp the center or Euclid using the glyphs from this post.

When I went through the center, the Survival achievement "Take a Deep Breath" popped, but the permadeath "To Live Forever" did not. I'm wondering if this was due to going through the center after finishing the expedition, which turned the save into a survival game rather than a permadeath one.

Has anyone tried flying through the center of the universe prior to calling the whale and popping the "To Live Forever" achievement/trophy? If it does get the permadeath achievement, it might be worth replaying the start of the expedition and getting to the 2nd anchor point, where the glyphs are awarded, then just using the portal to get to the center.

So is it normal that I can “harvest” my own freighter? 🤨 [Discussion]

Got the Sentinel model with all the extra cargo pods (the square ones at the bottom) which I can shoot apart and loot. Gotten plenty of free Frigate Modules this way, lol. The pods also regrow eventually and can be gotten all over again.

It really bugs out the AI though; my freighter will go into alert mode and lock the landing bay but it will still remain loyal which causes it to open fire upon the Sentinel Interceptors that arrive to “defend” it.

Connection lost since some days (PC) [Question]

Heya, sorry to bother you. Is there any method I can reesteblish the connection to the online services? I seem to have lost them for some time now, Anomaly is empty, no bases in the teleporter. No method seem to work:

  • relog in the anomaly

  • deactivate network card manually while being ingame

Is there any way to reestablish the connection? There seem to be no real button or the likes to do so.

Just wanted to know thoughts from experienced players as what my initial focus should be? I'm trying to get back to the game but when I download and try to play it says something about a Vulkan driver. [Question]

This is a different laptop than the one I used to use, but it should be able to run NMS. But it's saying I need a Vulkan driver installed or one of my things are corrupted and need checked. This never happened on my old laptop, and when I go to download Vulkan it says I need an NVIDIA device or something. What do I do? Steam version

Void Egg [Question]

Is the only way to get a living ship really only buying the egg from the store? I've seen some people hand them out like candy in a stream. There has to be another way, no one has that much quicksilver. Any advice? I really want to start my hand at a red and black on as they are so cool.

Please help me get (back) into this game [Question]

Howdy! I'm not exactly a stranger to NMS, but I've bounced against it a few times over the years. Whenever I come back, it's been long enough that I essentially have to restart since I don't remember enough about the game to progress meaningfully from my previous save.

I remember the last time, I made a goal to get all of the vehicles built, which I managed to do. That was 2 years ago, I think. Going back into the save, I basically don't remember anything about what I was doing or why, I have a bunch of missions that I left partially complete, etc.

I think my best case scenario here is I restart again, so I can relearn the game. But the lengthy period it takes to get things going always seems to hamper my ability to maintain progress. Is there a cheat sheet or punch list out there for some efficient starting strategies, so I can get back to where I was? Or should I just hop back in to my last save and see if I can "figure it out"? I did jump in for about 15 minutes, long enough to get my mech suit damaged and realize that I lack the materials to actually fix the damage, which of course made me more frustrated at the restart.

Does everything cost more in an expedition save? [Question]

I just got back into the game after about a year. I've only ever played on normal mode. This time around, I made a new save with the current expedition.

I noticed that blueprints from the anomaly, construction research, and freighter ship research cost a lot more nanites/technology/frigate modules than what I remember. Like tons more. Was there an update? Is this because it's an expedition or the game mode of the save file? Will it go back down when the expedition ends? I'm wondering if I should just hold onto any nanites/modules until later if that's the case.

How tall does an Exocraft garage need to be? [Question]

Trying to build a garage for my Pilgrim Exocraft on an extreme weather planet and every time I try to get out the Pilgrim, I end up on the roof. The roof is 4 walls tall, with a 3x3 floor space for the Pilgrim, yet I still end up in or on top of the roof. Do I need to build higher?

This game is perfect [Discussion]

I dont know if this kind of post is allowed but I just wanted to say how great this game is and how important it already is to me in so little time.

I have around 1 day of gameplay and it's hard to describe the feeling this game gives me.

I had a dream of being an astronaut as a kid, though that dream did die a little with time, since music became my biggest passion/dream.

Still, when I found out about this game and understood all the stuff we can do on it, it definitely satisfies the part of me that would love to explore this universe.

Having my own ship, base, going anywhere I want from the dangerous and ugly planets to the beautifull and peaceful ones, it's truly amazing.

It's been several months since I haven't played a game for more than 2 hours in a row, but No Man's Sky was able to keep me playing for more than that.

Really love this game and it's community, looking forward to many more hours of playing this masterpiece and I'm really glad the developers never gave up on it, so we can enjoy it

Just a thought. [Discussion]

I just landed on a crimson planet covered in extremely deep wells and weird circular objects.

I jumped down into a deep, deep well and at the bottom it became night.

There was nothing down there but high walls and a few trees and floating particles. It was black.

Looking up I could see a circle of stars high above me.. and I just thought of the vastness of this game and all the souls currently exploring it.

PSA: Getting to the Galactic Core on the Expedition Doesn't Count [Information]

Having never played permadeath, I will admit that once I learned my lessons during this Expedition I loved it! After upgrading my ship and multitool to S-class, I looked around for another challenge to do while gathering Liquid Sun and the other two items. I decided to try and get to the core of the galaxy and started traveling by ship until I realized I was about 1,000 jumps from the center of Euclid. Last night I used the portal on Anchor 5 and got to the planet that is one jump away. I swapped my multitool to a junk royal tool I had picked up a week or so ago and to a junk C-class hauler I got while doing the Water shelter questline. I then took off and jumped to the core. After the loading screen was finished and all of my stuff was broken, I checked and I had not gotten the achievement.

TL, DR: Don't bother portaling to the center of the galaxy as it doesn't count on this expedition.

Suggestions regarding space ships [Suggestion]

I would like to know if more people are with me on this one.

I would like in a future update that implement automatic acceleration and increments, something like what we have with the auto aim on space battles where you press a button and the ship keep a constant speed.

It's how it works on real life airplanes and it would be a good addition to the game, it would spare our finger lol

What can come next... Expeditions or New Content? [Discussion]

Who could've said that No Man's Sky would be better, years after launch? It's a phenomenal comeback, with free content updates too. Lots of time and energy has gone into this by HG. It's a great game to explore and traverse alone or in company. Now NMS, it's not perfect, it has its faults. For one, it's becoming quite obvious that with every expedition, we start the cycle of a new game and work our up. Yes, I love exploration games but I'm not going to spend hours trying to find 1122 or some ridiculous number of salvaged data to unlock items. Yes, I believe expeditions offer a way to get unlocks easier by doing milestones. I'm just wondering if there's not another way to offer limited rewards without having to restart a new save?

My last question, what do you want to see fixed in future updates, any bugs or glitches got you down? For one, I'd really like to see the duplication glitch patched.

Isn't survival a bit hard? [Question]

Ok so hear me out. Survival is... pretty hard.

So basically, I play on normal and I've been playing since release really. But over time I've come to realize that exploring consistently in this game, as well as base building is just... hard.

Now, to say it's hard it's to say that it's a challenge... a serious one.

So let's start by the lack of 'quality of life' options when base building... that should talk for itself.

Getting rare materials for base building is just hard. Getting brains from the sentinel juggernauts is just hard, killing one them and then getting swarmed by 7 other laser dogs is just challenging if you don't have an extremely rare cheese gun.

Materials are SO RARE in survival.

Hunting for rare lifeforms is... well... obviously hard, to say the least.

Environments melt you in seconds... like A rank upgrades are already hard to get.

Now other than that the game is pretty chill and easy, space combat is pretty cool it's all around easy to move in NMS.

I'm new to the game and yesterday I found a settlement after responding to a distress call about sentinels. The planet has high sentinel activity. Right now I'm on the "Ghost in a machine" quest and I plan to run the settlement after I complete all the main quest. I could use some tips for it. Also I saw a meme about someone's underground base disappearing or something. Does that actually happen? I plan to make my base out of a existing cave. The only thing I did to it was cover the openings so the sentinels can't get in.

Did the older short-wing gliders get removed? [Question]

I played over a year ago and had an explorer glider. I deleted the save because it was bugged. I recently came back and don't see any of the gliders I saw back then. I don't think explorers are super popular but I was a fan of the glider. Now it seems that gliders have new... longer wings that I'm not a fan of. I checked coordinate exchange but I don't see anything less than a year old with the former shorter wings. I checked a couple (limited by my currently low glyph count) and those older ones don't seem to spawn anymore.

Question Regarding abandoned frigates [Question]

Hello, first time creating a post here, go easy on me lol. I found an abandoned frigate and some pirates came, but I dispatched them easily enough. I couldn't see a way to get in, am I supposed to be able to get in? Is there something I should shoot on the outside? The frigate was broken in half if that matters... Ship is gone [Question]

I was somehow able to get into my buddies ship which it has never let me do before. I took it to my freighter and now my ship that I was flying is gone. It's not in my freighter or in my swap ships menu. Restarted the game and the save still not there. Not sure if there is anything I can do to get it back.

Mineral Extrators bases not working properly [Question]

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing fine !

I've got this issue with 2 bases I created on the same planet (but with quite some distance between the two, 3.800u) to mine Activated Indium. I wanted some fast and easy cash so I slapped at least 50 extractors for each base with lots of reservoirs to stock it.

It worked correctly for 2-3 days (oh the sweet credits rolling out of those) but now, the mines only work when I'm online, and if I tp from one base to another, or get in and out of my ship, they empty themselves.

I tried fixing them by removing the link to current or/and to reservoirs but it gets more buggy : reservoirs removed stops production completely as if it was the current and removing electricity doesn't change jack, the mines still work, even though they appear as disconnected from power (shared the screen, some of you might get a laugh out of it ^.^)

So my question here is do any of you magnific sausages have any idea if I could fix this mess ? Or should I start a new mining base from scracth ? If so, what should I do to avoid it happening again ? If you have any advice for building them efficiently too, please shoot them my way ;)

Thanks for taking the time to answer this, I'm kinda desperate !

P.S.: I obviously know this is a bug, and the mines aren't working as they should, but I spent a lot of time doing and redoing the bases so it kinda dampens my will to play knowing I spent many hours for nothing everytime I launch the game =/ (and I didn't post in the bug thread because I'm looking for an answer before posting to notify about it)

mega sky worm [Question]

I was on a barren planet in a fire storm.

1800u away there was a red animal dot on the scanner

It was one of those flying sky worm animals but it was massive

It clipped out of the draw distance, I chased it in the ship but it got away.

I have hundreds of hours in this game and have never seen anything like it before.

How do I find my ship? [Question]

So I was doing the under a rebel star mission and at the place a needed to go I found a destroyed ship worth 15mil+ and so I claimed it. But my other ship that works it stick somewhere and I don’t know where it is. The launch thrusters are dead so I can’t call it in and I really need help I don’t know what to do, I can’t go back to a save because I got into the destroyed ship so that saved the game.

there is a "drop pod" in a volcano. How do I get to it? [Question]

So I used a drop pod coordinate data to find a drop pod in a volcano. I can't use terrain mining to get to it. What do I do.

Since my save was exiting my ship I just alt+f4 and tried a few other things. I even did a "dupe" glitch to get more drop pod data before using my only one and instead it just "Finds" the same drop pod that I can't get to. Am I screwed? Do I need the advanced laser or some other mining things I don't yet know about, etc.

Error launching the game and will now shut down [Question]

I just made it to the Hilbert dimension and realized my ship and multi too were pretty messed up. I fixed them and just kinda went on with my life after that.

I remember reading on the wiki that crashed ships are only 50% of what they could be unless you scrap the old parts and make new ones. Does that apply here and is it even true?

Discord Stream Frozen [Question]

This is a constant issue that a lot of people have asked but no answer in the past 3 years. My discord stream does not work for No man's Sky. The only way to make it work is in windowed mode with terrible fps. My friends have the same settings but are able to stream no problem. This is what I have tried,

Have been using the exocraft signal booster upgrade Tau to find a portal (scanning for alien structures) but have spend 3 hours and have only come across the same ruins - three language stones and a staircase to a riddle. What am I doing wrong to find a portal? [Question]

I cant seem to local a portal. I've spent from 11PM to about 3:10am using the exocraft signal booster (I have the regular, B and A upgrades) but it only ever sends me to these staircase 'monoliths".

Is there a better way to find a portal? I just need one so I can build a base to re-use it.

Lost save game...

My nms game didn't save 4 hours worth of progress?

I play no mans sky on pc through the Microsoft store since I already own it on xbox, I was playing for a while and after a bit I summoned the Anomaly and my ship got stuck in the geometry next to the landing pads and I was forced to quit the game, however it said "last save 5 min ago", I figured whatever, anything important I did was saved well over 5 min ago. I quit and open the game again to find my save from when I first got on the game earlier in the day, I was/am a bit frustrated.

I'm curious if this is a problem someone's encountered? I tried to load the cloud save exclusively and it was the same story. Maybe the game just glitches out and doesn't save progress at times?? I definitely want to hear your thoughts.

Game Crashing Periodically [Bug]

I just recently got into this game and quickly fell in love with it, however, I’ve had 3 instances now where my game has crashed and I’ve lost a lot of progress. Two of those three times were complete computer crashes, forcing me to hard reset my computer. The other time was an easy restart, but I was still upset that I lost progress. I’ve been doing a bit of digging, and it seems as if this was an issue around launch and primarily with AMD cards. I have an MSI RTX 3070 card, AMD 3700x processor, 16 gigs of ram, and about a terabyte of storage left on my hard drive. Has anyone else been having this issue, or have a solution to fix it? This is the only game that has caused me problems like this.

EDIT: I should’ve probably prefaced the fact that I’m using the Xbox Game Launcher + Ultimate Game Pass for my PC!

I can't get my void egg to summon a host, how do I fix this? [Question]

I've been pulse driving for minutes on end and I cannot get a host to summon and I don't know why. I have the void egg in my inventory, and its not a used void egg. The only ideas I have on why it isn't working is I got it from a friend, who got it from a random guy in the anomaly. This could've been the reason the problem was caused, but I'm not sure.

Also some other things to note: I have already completed the Starborn quest, and I already have 2 living ships.

How to Automate Gathering Animal Products? [Question]

Hello,

Recently found this planet with mechanical fauna that give Chewy Wires, and I want to mass produce them. I tried using the Automated Feeder and the Livestock Unit, left the planet, saved in my home base, and let it run. When I came back, it didn't gather anything while the Automated Feeder and Livestock Unit in my own base managed to get like 60 milk.

How do I properly gather Animal Products in a way that is not too hassle for me?

I can't play. Can anyone help me out? [Question]

Back in 2020 my game started to crash when I tried to load my save. I could launch the game, select my save, the loading screen flying through the stars would start up, and then it just crashed to the Xbox home screen.

I waited for updates to see if it would fix it, no luck. Tried loading my game on a friend's Xbox, didn't work. Deleted the game and reinstalled, nope. I recently upgraded from an original Xbox one to a Series S, same result. I submitted a ticket to Hello games but never heard back.

I really want to play but starting all over and losing everything isn't appealing at all.

Does anyone know how to fix this or have any advice on what else I can try?

Game has 1fps when using VR. Is my computer bad or is something wrong? [Question]

I bought NMS yesterday on steam. I’ve played it a little on PS4 with PSVR. Playing this game in VR is just so cool. So that’s what I tried to do. I launched the game in SteamVR with my oculus quest connected to my PC via oculus link and it seemed alright at first but as soon as I got into the game it started lagging so much I was unable to even open op the settings to turn graphics down. Seriously I had 1fps and I was unable to do anything. It was like this for a couple of minutes before crashing.

I than tried starting the game without VR and the game runs fine like this. I have it on the preformance setting and it results in almost no lag. Is my VR headset bad? (It’s an oculus quest 1) is my computer just shit? What’s wrong? I don’t really understand because I searched a bit online and people say that the quality of your VRheadset doesn’t determine it’s preformance when you connect it to a PC. That’s the PC’s job. All it does is receive and play data that it gets from the PC. My computer isn’t the best quite frankly it’s not very good. It has 8gb ram and an RTX960 graphics card I think? However the minimum requirements for no man’s sky under steam are only 8gb ram and RTX460 I think. So my pc should be able to run it just fine, which it does without VR. But not so much with VR.

Maybe I should mention that I am using the oculus link thing wireless. I don’t have one of those cables to do it with a wire which probably would result in better preformance.

Refiner and Nutrition station input caps. [Discussion]

So my two main saves are Hardcore and Permadeath.

I play these for the difficulty and the stack limits of 250/500/1000 depending on inventory adds good challenge.

However why are input stack to all crafting station also capped at 250 for refiners and 50 with nutrition station? It’s mildly infuriating when wanting to refine extra resources in a large refiner to make high value items making it pointless.

(Probably) hot take: The game, in its current form, could benefit from having in-game monetization [Discussion]

Hi. I know this is probably a controversial topic, but I decided to bring it up anyway. NMS, in its current state, is unquestionably a live-service game, HG even refers to the game as such in their Switch page. However, contrary to almost all live services, the game doesn't have any sort of in-game monetization. But at this point, should it? For example, the ability to buy quicksilver. At this point the game only makes money when people buy new copies, but how sustainable is that in the long run, if the game continues to further evolve for many years? Also, existing players have no easy way of supporting the continued development of the game, the only way is to buy merch or new copies. Hell, I paid 15 euros for the game back in 2017 when the game was still considered bad, and I haven't given HG any money since. Maybe I would, if I had the ability to buy some cheap quicksilver.

Also, this model of only making money from new sales has its downsides. The game continues to suffer from many bugs, lack of some QoL, weird design choices etc. which still aren't fixed. The reason for that, I reckon, is simply because they have no time to go back to old content and bugs and make improvements, they have to continually produce new content to sell more copies. They can't really go back to old content and improve that, because, put simply, pleasing the existing player base doesn't really make them money. A common criticism regarding the game is that there is a ton of stuff to do, but much of it is shallow. Well, maybe they could focus on that existing content, if they didn't have to solely try to gain new sales via new content, no? Not saying that they should stop doing new content, but the game could have a much better balance of creating new content and maintaining and evolving old.

Ultimately, though, this probably isn't...

S Class Activated Indium Farm - Holds over 1 million Indium - Storage all underground [Build]

Finally posting the new Activated Indium farm I built close to the Pirate HUB system. It holds 1,040,000 Activated Indium and all the storage except for 1 tank is built underground using a new technique I discovered to use the glitches that happen when you build underground.

We all know the pain of trying to build your own cave base and having it filled in when you look away for a moment but I've found a way to make it work for some different uses. If you build a room underground with a short range teleporter to get in and out and leave 1 or 2 walls on opposite sides of the room with no wall the ground will glitch as normal, however, instead of filling your room in the ground seems to disappear giving you full access to the underground area without having to use the terrain manipulator.

Feel free to come check it out but be careful as the planet has some of the most extreme radioactive wind storms with tornados that will shoot you in the air and take you home with them.

There is a storage container you can collect the Indium from in the main base room where you will be safe as well as a teleporter. Make sure to turn off multiplayer before you collect the Indium so others can also get some. Enjoy.

p.s don't worry about falling through the middle of the planet if you walk through the empty wall underground. You will just pop up to the surface instantly if you do.

Problem is that I apparently hit the max building limit as I am getting no more building opportunities to boost the Productivity.

Scorched earth it is, I guess. Burn it down and try again, this time being a cruel taskmaster not giving a fook about worker Happiness.

How Can I Change Language on PS4 [Question]

I searched and couldn't find an answer to this. I'm in Japan and playing on PS4. I was playing in English from my Japanese NMS disc but haven't played for a few years. I had some chlorine cooking in 2 medium refiners, that did some other and logged off for dinner.

Can other players attack you in expeditions? [Question]

I was fighting some pirates that another player was engaged with. I took out one of the last pirates, and then all of the sudden, my shields deplete rapidly, followed by death a second later. I never had much trouble with pirates, which led me to believe that the player attacked me.

Either, there's no way I'm going to go through all those chores again. This expedition sucked.

Stuck on a planet [Question]

Hey guys new to the game here loving it but i seem to have gotten stuck in a planet and need some help. Ive been stuck for about an hour. Ive checked under water, ive tried breaking into the mountains, but i cannot find ferrite dust anywhere. All the plants and organisms here only drop oxygen and carbon. Theres literally no rocks.

I dont have a refinery because i need to build metal plating which comes from ferrite dust. What can i do?

I have 350 rusted metal ive read in other posts i can turn this into ferrite dust. But without metal plating and a refinery what else can i do?? Thanks

What are the various galaxy types actually like? [Question]

I'd like to head to an empty galaxy, with the idea that "empty" means less NPCs. Space games are more immersive to me if they're isolating you know? But the various information out there about what galaxies are like just describes it in terms of planetary biomes. It doesn't really detail anything else. Growth hormones not working? [Question]

Hi there hello, I'm fairly new to the game and my companion (that weird flying pillar that isn't organic and floats using what looks like jet fuel) dropped me an egg but I can't increase or decrease its size. Ive looked online and tried all kinds of items from silica dust to nipnip-buds to decrease (I want it smaller) its size, but nothing works, it only inherits its growth points.

It's current size is 3m but that can't be it for a creature, right? What can I do/try to get my pets bigger/smaller?

Trade - what am I doing wrong? [Question]

I'm playing on PC, trying to make some units trading items. I buy them when they are cheap, -25%, etc when they are locally produced. I fly to a new system - still cheap and locally produced. I wrap to a system I've never explored - still cheap and locally produced. I'd heard this was a good way to earn credits (without cobalt-crashing) but I'm just stuck with a bunch of filled inventory slots of "locally produced" cargo.

grave stuck in giant mushroom tree [Bug]

I was doing my daily Nexus mission and when I was flying to give the item to the recipient, my starship got stuck in a giant mushroom tree (no way of getting out, tried boosting) so my ship eventually got destroyed in the tree, and now my grave is stuck inside the same tree. Does anyone know how I can get my grave out from the tree? I tried using the mining laser and using the terrain manipulator to build up to it.

Welcome, Star Citizen exiles! [NMS-IRL]

It's good to be back in No Man's Sky. I have missed the game, and I'm always thinking about coming back and fixing up my bases, sending out my frigates, and expanding my fleet since the limit went from 6 to 9. And all these new things that I've missed out (have not done any settlement stuff yet). I just couldn't get away from Star Citizen and the thrill of flying those ships.

But now there's a bug that's preventing over 600-700 people from playing the game, and support has not been able to respond to it in weeks. So I'm back. Time to catch up.

Now I just gotta remember that "E" is going to land my ship, not roll it to the right.

I do wish there was flight stick support for NMS. Really, the only thing keeping me in Star Citizen was the flight model. Now I gotta get used to mouse/keyboard again. Or get the gamepad out.

Base electricity [Question]

I created a base from early on and I didn’t know about the electromagnetic field thing. Now that I found out about it it’s too late since I already created my base, I found a near by site and created a base there since I can’t create something far away from my first one. I tried connecting the wires from the electro magnetic field to the base but it doesn’t work. Is this because they’re in different bases? Or what am I doing wrong.

Side note; I tried to connect it using batteries too but when I get to the battery that’s next to my base it doesn’t get power, I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong I need some help with it.

I can't get my void egg to summon a host, how do I fix this? [Question]

I've been pulse driving for minutes on end and I cannot get a host to summon and I don't know why. I have the void egg in my inventory, and its not a used void egg. The only ideas I have on why it isn't working is I got it from a friend, who got it from a random guy in the anomaly. This could've been the reason the problem was caused, but I'm not sure.

Also some other things to note: I have already completed the Starborn quest, and I already have 2 living ships.

I am in Eltiensleen right now and am unable to warp to the core. [Bug]

I went through a portal through the track stated on r/nmscoordinateexchange to the planet closest to the Eltiensleen core but when I go onto the galactic map and select my destination as galactic core there are no lines drawn that I'd usually use to travel across from my current solar system to anywhere else including the galactic core. I cannot select the galactic core at all. I've looked through posts on this subreddit about this issue and nobody has found a solution. This is my last desperate attempt to find a fix because I've been travelling for so long to get here from Euclid. I have tried restarting the game, restarting my console, loading an older save and spending hours getting back to where I am now, using different ships, using my freighter, getting all the warp drive upgrades and nothing has worked. It's just my luck to get an insanely rare bug that ruins hours of effort and prevents me from progressing. ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED I NEED HELP PLEASE

NMS VR running bad with low CPU and GPU usage. [Bug]

I just upgraded to an RTX 3060ti and I launched NMS VR and it is running badly. The wierd this is it's only useing 11% gpu and 33-40% cpu. I have installed the newest drivers but no change. With the introduction of Solar ships a bit ago, I thought of a "what if" for if the core four ship types (Fighter, Shuttle, Hauler, Explorer) had their own special tech. Here's what I've thought of... [Suggestion]

Just a few tech ideas I thought of for if the base four ship types had special tech like the solar ships.

Note: Purely food for thought, but I would like to hear what you guy's think and what ideas you have.

Fighter Hardpoint Amplifier: Increased damage output when shields are down Burst Engine: Ability to boost forward a short distance, causing a short range blast that damages any nearby hostiles Tactical RCS Thrusters: Ability to make evasive maneuvers to avoid incoming fire, dodge asteroids, or unclip your ship when it gets stuck in your freighter

Explorer Reconnaissance Visor: Effectively an analysis visor for your starship, allowing you to see the class of frigates/freighters without having to land/get close to them, log a planet's biome/contents without having to land on it, along with some other stuff to speed up the surveying process.

Shuttle Hover Jets: In essence, this is pretty much a hover mode for your shuttle that you can use to scan stuff from above, or go full Chopper Gunner and fire at ground targets. Obviously, there'd be stuff to balance this out, but I felt like it's the most fitting given how Shuttles are effectively the "unspecialized" type of ship"

Hauler Asteroid Mining Laser: Simply put, it replaces the photon cannon with a mining laser to use on asteroids to get more resources out of them. Photon cannon upgrades will still work on it, however. Auto-Cannon: Playing more into the Haulers being more defense oriented in combat, this is a small AI controlled photon cannon that with chip away at enemy ships, prioritizing hostiles tailing the ship. Much like multi-tool weapons, it will need to be recharged. Also can/will be used by NPC haulers. Emergency Shield...

Trapped between two tornadoes [Discussion]

The other day I was on a fungal planet and it had a nasty toxic storm that also spawned tornadoes. Somehow, I got stuck in the air between them. One would spit me out, the other would catch me, spit me out, rinse and repeat. When I finally hit the ground, my jets were on cool down from all the attempts at getting out of the loop. Instant death. Thankfully the game also crashed on the death screen, so technically I still have no logged deaths. Has anyone experienced this? How do you escape?

A Trace of Metal issue; Dismantled Drone Shell [Question]

I've got the transmission to return to my settlement and defend it from the sentinel attack. I defeated them and picked up the Drone Shell. My issue is, every time I'd talk to Tethys he would keep repeating the same line. So I decided maybe I can dismantle the Drone Shell and go get a different one. This was wrong, I can no longer seem to get another Drone Shell so currently every single time I go to my settlement there is an attack from the same sentinels which after many tries have not dropped another drone. The quest is stuck telling me to talk to Tethys, and show him the Drone Shell which I no longer have and cannot seem to reacquire.

Anyone know a solution?

my ship changed model, how do i fix? [Question]

ok so i just finished the part where you meat ATLAS and after it spat me out of that area it told me to go back to my ship, only thing is, when i reached the ship it wasn't mine, the model changed for some reason and i dont know why? the stats, class and inventory are all the same, for some reason its just the model. has anyone encountered anything similar, and if so is it possible to fix? i really hate the new model it gave me so any solution would me much appreciated

When is the last day to finish this expedition? If I go to start a new one, it says 17 hours left. But on my current save file it says 2 days? Is 17 hours just the last time people can begin this expedition?

Anyone else wish there was more to do on your ship? [Discussion]

I wish there was more stuff you could do while just alone on your ship like get up and walk around or something like that. Obviously this can’t work for smaller ships but this would be awesome for bigger ships just being able to walk around inside and maybe even be able to place items to make it a little portable home. And of course while your not sitting down if you get attacked you actually have to run back to your seat and start resume control. And if you want to go the extra mile maybe give the ship problems you have to solve as well? Maybe if you take too much damage your ship will catch on fire and you will need to put it out with a fire extinguisher that’s left of your ship. I don’t think the fire should be that big a threat since this would make fighting a nightmare but maybe after the fight you could repair the stuff on your ship. And so the smaller ship players don’t feel left out actually allow you to interact with more stuff on your ship. Like just press fandoms buttons or maybe like a hologram for the galaxy that shows up on a screen. Or maybe you could just use normal ship functions manually like you could press a button on the ship and it will activate your scanners or something like that. Just to make sure ship feel more like YOUR ship. Also the ability to customize your ship ofc but everyone says that

Finally completed “To live forever” trophy [Information]

What a hard trophy. Died like 5 times, but finally with some help from Reddit I figured out to never stay too far from the ship to avoid the planetary raids (they can one-shot you). Then farmed nanites and did a few smuggler runs to sell contraband which got me about 26 million units after about 20 or so trips. (I used the space anomaly as makeshift teleported between systems). And then bought a better ship so I could get more upgrades in there and be less squishy against space pirates. Then did the portal all the way to 5k Ly from the center and bought a scrapper at the last system before the jump. My rear was puckered the whole time. I love this game.

Looking for Listed Stasis Device Farm Tutorial [Question]

Hi All,

Been sifting through a lot of stasis device tutorial videos and the most recent effective one doesn't have chapters, and my ineptness at detail makes it really easy to miss important elements. I do like Xaine's method, but I can't commit to anything too extravagant until I've figured out how to civil engineer properly (it's also too detailed to process at my current level).

Anyone have or know a written tutorial or list that I can scroll through to check off what is necessary (not looking to make billions, just millions)? If you know of another Reddit post that has what I need, please link it here and I'll remove this post :)

Me and my friend can't play COOP. Keeps teeling me "XY left the system every 30 seconds or so. [Bug]

Hi!

So basically me and my friend subscribed to Game Pass yesterday, downloaded No Man's Sky (we wanted to play it for some time now), hopped into our first world, just to get annoyed that sure we can play separate, but as soon as we try to connect, in about 20-30 seconds it just disconnects us, both from the game and the group.

We tried hosting vice-versa, no matter who hosted it remained the same. Our connection is fairly stable, and had no problems with other games so far. Any ideas what it might be? XBOX connection should be fine, so I doubt it's that.

I have tried reloading, I have tried dying again, I have tried doing other tasks, I have tried going back to the 2nd grave, I have tried killing sentinels I have tried shutting the sentinel forces down

Does any one else think the warp sequence needs a major over haul? [Suggestion]

As such a major part of the game, personally I feel the warping is incredibly lack luster and unsatisfying. Will every new update I hope this is something that’s updated. It feels more like a loading screen than anything else. It’s just really unsatisfying and I try to avoid it unless I have to. Please Hello Games, update the warp sequence. Make the portals and ship warps different. Make the black hole warp different. Thanks for listening.

Quick question I can't find a answer to [Question]

I just started and I joined multiplayer with a friend. Once I got to thier planet we noticed that gravitino balls don't spwan for me there. We thought the progression might be preventing rare spawns for showing up for me but now I am nearly as far in the story (past first meeting with apollo) and they still dont spawn. I have found this impossible to Google probably because I don't know enough about the game yet. Please help!

Logitech X56 Trigger Problem [Question]

Hey brains trust, I've recently bought an X56 set up and everything works fine, mapped controlled ok, except for the trigger while engaged in space battles.

For some reason the trigger doesn't fire sometimes and I can't figure out why.

It's not latched, works fine until I'm in combat and then stops responding.

Any ideas?

Ship Won't Reappear 😠 [Question]

I landed at the space station in the Pochon system, saw a ship I loved. It was a fighter, battel type body, mostly white with orange bits. I bought it and flew off all happy in my new ship. Then the game crashed. My autosave was from when i landed on the station so before i bought the ship. I've been back to the station and never seen that ship again since. I read somewhere that Vykeen systems have 7 varieties of fighter. I've checked and seen 5 out of the 7 (6 if you include the one i can't find any more). Anyone have any ideas?

Final interface issue [Question]

Possible spoilers…

Reached the center of the galaxy before the counter reached 16. Never triggered story scene or “final interface” etc. it just jumped me to a new galaxy. I thought it was supposed to ask me to reset the Atlas or something first but I never got anything like that. In the new galaxy it started my counter over. Should I just keep warping till it hits 16 to trigger the next part of the story? It still says “reach center of galaxy” as my mission. First play though

from what I understand because of the size of the game they would need a server for only mods. If they add the mods to the existing code it would run into "run time errors". thus causing lag issues and breakdown of the code. What say you if i am wrong please let me know i am new to software devlopment.

Question about building underground [Discussion]

So I started playing NMS on Xbox with my son. He's really interested in building a big base underground by digging it out himself. I remember this being an issue though. I remember when you would leave and come back the terrain wouldn't save. Is this still an issue? If so are there work around?

Very new player; did I lock myself out of quest options during an early talk with Nada? [Question]

As I was finishing up a quest to introduce me to the Space Anomaly, Nada asked me if I wanted help knowing what to do next. There were three options: exploration, Artemis, and the "crimson liar." I thought these weren't mutually exclusive, so I went with the first one, intending to go down the list. Picking "exploration" locked the other two out.

I was really looking forward to hearing more about this "crimson liar" thing. Have I missed the chance to follow that questline?

Ah, Derelict Freighters the abandoned alien inhabited space. You can encounter them at random. anomaly detector or using an Emergency Broadcast Receiver. Sometimes there are just green jellyfish floating around. Or maybe some rouge AI drones and turrets. Or creepy nests that release tiny, creepy spooders. Using their goo to block doors. You never know what to see. You had to find The Records Terminal which can give you the Crew Manifests. Next, you have to secure the mainframe by reading random logs until you get an access card so you can get the ship's log. Last, you had to find the interact with the Engineering Control so you can a nice award. You can sell The Crew Manifests and the Ship's Log to Scrap Dealers and Guild Envoies. Then, you can repeat it again and again until you die.

Expedition help [Question]

So I just found out about expeditions this morning. Decided to see if it was available and it was. I went ahead and started the leviathan expedition and at first it said 7 hours left.

I had saved and went to do a few chores, came back and reloaded the game and it said I had 2 days left. :/

New Player's Guide. (for search feature) [Suggestion]

I'm coming back to the game after years of not playing and trying to make a quick guide I wish had been made for me.

If you want to cheat you can. Google "No man's sky two refiner dupe glitch" This is valid as of July 2022

The most important element to Horde early game is Oxygen. Go out of your way to collect it and BUY it at every station. Like wise sodium. Once you figure out some of the currency exchanges you can just BUY oxygen and sodium at every station while selling something else that is more valuable You can collect oxygen from the "bulb on top" plants. The bulb will expand and you will get "hurt" but not much, and pushed away. These plants have 3 tiny red "fruits" that you can harvest with your action key "E" on PC You can also wait for NPC ships to land at the space station and then BUY from the ships.

Do the "story line quests" skipping most everything else until you have access to the space station, base, and construction module.

BUY a EXOSUIT inventory slot at every single station you visit. Focus on the "main" area when buying. If you find drop ships upgrade the CARGO area instead because that is more expensive to buy at the station.

The living goo, green purple, or otherwise can be "refined" through a chain to get mold, which then can make nanites. I keep that.

the first thing you should get when you have access to the anomaly is the refining backpack. It takes a tech spot (of which I had empty slots) and frees up a normal slot you had a refiner in.

It might not be "cheating" but a "Chorine farm" sure feels like cheating (relies on oxygen and a medium or large refiner)

Keep stacks of low stacking items in your "cargo" area. So things like subterrain relics stack to 5 in the normal area or 10 in cargo.

When you speak to an NPC (not a trader type) they will teach you one word. then you can practice dialog up to 4 times. I...

Was there a nerf to harvested plant amounts via bio-domes? [Question]

Mainly asking if it's happened since expedition 7 release. Haven't played since just before the expedition launched.

I set up 2 separate Stasis device farms which were capable of giving me enough plants to make 20 total SD and it worked totally normal for a good few weeks but I've been on a couple of times recently and neither farm is giving me the amount they normally would.

Incase it makes any difference, These farms are located in different galaxies but the bio-domes are a 2 stack sort of glitched one on top of the other so I only need to interact with the screen on the bottom bio dome to harvest the plants from both. I've checked all bio domes and when I harvest all of the plants are getting harvested so it doesn't seem to be that

Expedition 7 Question: When will HG unbind the universal portion of Unbound? [Question]

Hey there fellow fans and grinders!

My buddy and I have been feeding Polo’s growing drug empire (the only explanation for his insatiable demand for obscure materials). We’ve noticed that the “universal” counter for our contributions have often been slightly different than the individual counter in our logs.

We suspect that there is indeed and individual quotient to compete the optional quests, but also that the “universal” quotient will be deemed complete by HG in the next 48 hours.

What do y’all think? Are we understanding this correctly or are we off base? Off planet? We’re both at 99% so either way we’re looking forward to completing it.

Edit: another intriguing bit of info. We usually play as a team but we’ve also done some lone grinding over the past month or so. Yet our progress has stayed suspiciously identical. Hmm.

Gas Hotspot Quality and Planet Types [Question]

We all know that the type of planet determines what gasses are available there (For example, radioactive planets have radon hotspots)

However, is there any correlation between the atmosphere and quality of the hotspot? For example, are more intense atmospheres (planets that have activated metals) more likely to produce more S class hotspots?

I'm personally looking for an S class oxygen hotspot to build a base around, and I wanna know if I should be on a stormy planet competing with other gasses or a dead planet with only oxygen.

How do you find places you’ve already visited? [Question]

I can’t tell if I’m missing something here or just plain stupid. I found a Gek Planetary archive and during it found a distress signal. I followed it, claimed the ship there, and then left to get the materials to repair it. I have all of the materials now to repair the ship but I’m unable to find the ship itself, or the planetary archive. When I try to summon the ship it says I cannot because it’s broken.

I’m extremely new to the game so I’m sorry if this is a stupid question. How do I get back to the archive and the ship?

A short appreciation post from a returning player [Screenshot]

I preordered nms back in '16, played it for a good 100hrs or so, stopped, then played again when Atlas Rises released. I thoroughly enjoyed it back then—the exploration and seeing new worlds, the base building—but ultimately I got tired of it.

Fast forward to June '22 and omg I was completely taken aback by the sheer amount of improvement nms had. All the new things introduced had me playing for hours after work, and indeed I even went to work sleep-deprived lol.

Also, the community is absolutely awesome. A lot of eager travellers willing to help others find specific ships, freighters, planets, etc. Their assistance in the expedition, my first expedition, was also invaluable. I wouldn't have gotten my leviathan in just one go had it not been for all of you beautiful people.

NMS has become my chill game to destress after a long day. Awe at the wonderful vistas, land on strange new worlds, encounter unique creatures. Such a fantastic game!

P.S. The LOD distance is quite pitiful lol.

Base and settlement no longer mine after reinstalling game [Question]

I had to do a clean install of my OS; before doing so I backed up my save from %APPDATA%\Roaming\HelloGames.

I've just reinstalled the game and copied my save and settings back, but I can no longer interact with my settlement's terminal or even my own base. The settlement's terminal reads "Terminal reserved for Overseer", and my base doesn't even show up in the teleporter network anymore.

For reference I installed the game through GOG's backup installers because I don't want GOG Galaxy installed nor do I care about multiplayer.

Is there a way to fix this?

just some questions [Question]

Okay so ive played about 15 hours now and im really enjoying the game. Is it just me or do they make it give off a mysterious vibe? To be honest it was quite a learning curve at first but i just had to focus a bit lol.

Anyway, i had a few questions. I went in basically blind and didnt know it was multiplayer, the only hint of it is when they ask you to choose in the main menu. Then i reached the anamoly and realized these were real people walking around. So:

What parts of it is online?

Is the galactic trade system a player generated market? Like the prices and stuff are set by real players?

Also are we all in the same galaxy? Or would i have to join another players game in order to be in their galsxy?

And when i find a planet is it possible to bump into another player on the same planet?

Just very mysterious lol

Important questions regarding the main story [Question]

I'm now on the quest "The Purge" and I've often read things like "reset simulation" etc. and this has made me a bit scared of losing my saved game, i.e. my items, ships etc. when I make certain decisions. Or that once I have reached the heart of the galaxy, I cannot return to Euclid's galaxy. Can you enlighten me on that without spoiling the rest of the story? I am now at the point where I am supposed to reach the heart of the galaxy because the simulation ends in 16 minutes. Additionally I need to know If I keep my progress on other quests because Im at the final step of the living ship quest and I dont want to lose this progress since it took so long.

Landing platform question [Question]

Hi, I want to make a base inside of one of the large stone mountains/pillars (cylindrical, almost perfect)

I want to dig a hole down the center, and place a landing platform halfway through, so my ship is sheltered. Is this possible? Will my ship crash? Has anyone else tried?

Questions about different game modes [Question]

If I started a permadeath save would everyone in the anomaly also be in a permadeath game mode? Do you always load up with other players in the same game mode?

While in permadeath if I went to the base location I built and uploaded in a normal save would it be there? Or are bases limited to the game mode as well? Are planets? If I upload a planet discovered and rename is it renamed and saved for all game modes?

There should be a way to turn off the zero gravity in ships [Suggestion]

It would make fighting or flying in the game so much cooler if you had the option to turn off zero gravity. Imagine dogfighting another player and your going massive speeds and the other player turns off zero gravity and dips behind you. It would make combat a lot more fun in pvp.

I NEED HELP [Question]

Hey, I just need this game to work properly. I've recently started playing nms again since 2019 and I can't make this game to run smoothly...

I have an Intel i5 9400, 16gb RAM 2666mhz and a RTX2060... The recomended settings are "high" or at least that is what Nvidia tells me, but not even on low with rendering scale on 50% I can run this game smoothly. It's always stuttering, always lagging even on planets that I've already visited. Shit, even my base is super laggy.

Please, I need some help I really want to play this gaaaame.

Activated Indium farms won’t produce while I’m away [Bug]

I have three AI farms set up, all which ran just fine. Starting yesterday, none of them will actually produce anything unless I’m standing beside them or on-planet. I used to be able to leave the system and come back at the end of a play session to collect. Is anyone else having this problem? I’ve noticed they also seem to wipe whatever inventory they have if I leave the area.

TL;DR - Three AI farms don’t produce unless I’m beside them.

Duplicating missions/blocked progress [Question]

How do I keep going? [Question]

So I have my main save with a little more then 10 hours and I’m starting to get bored. I have a decent ship and I have a decent base. The Artemis quest line is just boring so far and all the other quests just seem tedious. I have become a pirate and a bounty hunter and I have made bank. Nanite Farming Tips [Question]

New-ish player here (100hrs, Console, Survival)

Is Sentinel farming still the best way to get nanites? I see dozens of cool mold farms all over the exchange but most are on normal. Besides we kinda get screwed on taking advantage of mold anyway with the small stacks.

I see people on here though on survival (allegedly) with millions of nanites and just wonder how. I can farm sentinels for hours and barely scrape together 100k.

No end to the No Man's Sky addiction...and I don't want it to end. [Discussion]

Let's be clear here...

I absolutely am addicted to No Man's Sky...and I love it! I originally purchased the game at launch on the PS4 system. Played for a few hours and wasn't impressed then dropped it. Fast forward nearly 5-6 years later (and now migrated to PC/Steam gaming) I decided to purchase the game a day or two before posting this. Not exactly sure what peaked my interest in the game. Didn't see/read about any updates or videos regarding the game, just simply wanted to play it again. So I purchased it.....BEST.DECISION.EVER.! I can't put the game down. I put hours into the game without realizing and continue to put many more. During the short period of time of owning No Man's Sky, I have already put 20 hours in! I still feel like I have yet to scratch the surface! The addition of multiplayer is amazing. The farming and exploration loop is highly addictive. I still feel like I am aimlessly wandering as I explore and discover upgrades for my ship, exo-suit, and multi-tool. However, it is incredibly fun. Gaming has been a bit dull lately with the current releases and nothing peaked my interest. This game has managed to magically capture that sense of child-like fun I use to experience in the early days of gaming. Wanting to spend hours upon hours without getting bored. Don't worry I do take regular breaks in sessions and attempt to prior my fingers away from the keyboard to get some sleep before waking up the next day to continue the No Man's Sky grind.

All I got to say is....I love this game! Anyone else addicted?

Settlement 2 billion debt on series X [Bug]

No I have absolutely not messed with system clock.

I start off with the above as browsing this topic seems to lead to people thinking that this bug only happens if you mess with system clock.

Im on a series X, messing with the clock would mess up a whole lot for really no good reason, so no, I have never touched the clock.

​

All I did was change one of the buildings per optional request from “the citizens”, created a manual save using one of those save spots you can manually build, quit the game, now the building finished during the night at some point I’m assuming, i come back the next morning (which is right now), all of a sudden I have 2 billion debt With a clock that actually increases.

​

I haven’t seen any reliable fix?

Ship Won't Reappear 😠 [Question]

I landed at the space station in the Pochon system, saw a ship I loved. It was a fighter, battel type body, mostly white with orange bits. I bought it and flew off all happy in my new ship. Then the game crashed. My autosave was from when i landed on the station so before i bought the ship. I've been back to the station and never seen that ship again since. I read somewhere that Vykeen systems have 7 varieties of fighter. I've checked and seen 5 out of the 7 (6 if you include the one i can't find any more). Anyone have any ideas?

Final interface issue [Answered]

Possible spoilers…

Reached the center of the galaxy before the counter reached 16. Never triggered story scene or “final interface” etc. it just jumped me to a new galaxy. I thought it was supposed to ask me to reset the Atlas or something first but I never got anything like that. In the new galaxy it started my counter over. Should I just keep warping till it hits 16 to trigger the next part of the story? It still says “reach center of galaxy” as my mission. First play though

"Action" button not working [Question]

Playing on Xbox and suddenly can't use X button to do anything. I was about to save my game so I could log off but I can't save at manual save point. I can't get into my ship. Save Issue [Question]

Loaded back into my game this morning and as soon as the game loads, I hear the sound you get when you pick up an item like gravitino balls or NipNip.

I have planters on my capital ship, which is where I loaded into, all of them were empty even though it had been more than enough time since I had last played for everything to have grown back.

The only thing I have changed with regard to my capital ship is that I finally found the last 'glitch' I needed to complete my collection, and I installed one in my grow-room on my freighter.

Also, the last harvest I did of my various plants, the sound when collecting my NipNip was excessively loud compared to the rest of the game volume.

I'm on Xbox One X; or the Borg Cube as I call it.

Asteroid density makes space feel claustrophobic [Discussion]

I am relatively new to the game. I've only been playing for a few weeks now, so I apologize if this is a common post, but space flight feels really frustrating when every few hundred meters there's another dense wall of asteroids to navigate through.

The game should have dense asteroid fields, but their frequency is far too great. It might feel better if the flying wasn't so "on rails," but I always find myself constantly smashing into the space rocks. For a game that's supposed to feel "freeing," the space travel feels quite claustrophobic.

I would even prefer asteroid fields where the asteroids are much larger but have space enough to navigate the field in an exciting way.

Either way, apologies if this is out of place or low effort, but I was interested in this sub's thoughts on the matter.

Contested Star Systems Suggestion [Suggestion]

My suggestion is to add Contested Star Systems (Conflict Level 4), where two intelligent species are fighting over the star system in a war scenario and we can choose a side and lead them to victory by completing objectives, which would result in that species becoming the Dominant life form, but there's a chance that eventually fighting will begin again later down the line, resulting in it being contested again, each alien species would have pros and cons to them winning the conflict, for example: Vy'Keen becoming the Dominant Species would result in lower Sentinel Populations and Increased chances of finding powerful weapons upgrades for Multitools, Starships, and Exocraft; however there may be a higher chance of Pirate Attacks. I think this would really spice up the reputation system as well making it to where you run the risk of making enemies out of certain races, and powerful allies out of others.

Additionally, you could also have Sentinel invasions, in which the Sentinels will attempt to oust all intelligent species from the system, and if the Sentinels emerge victorious it will temporarily become abandoned until a species attempts to colonize it again, if you're feeling particularly sinister, you could side with the sentinels for unique rewards, or stop the invasion and continue to hold the system longer.

If you're having trouble uploading a base screenshot..... [Suggestion]

[No BS Answer] Change the name of the base, and try again. This seems to be what finally worked for me.

[YouTube Version] What up? and welcome to another of my instructional YouTube videos on No Man's Sky by Hello Games. Now, . Anyway, I'd first noticed this problem when I was building a base in the Calypso system...... I'd moved the base computer around quite a bit, especially after happening upon a geomagnetic hotspot and, for you new players out there..... Anyway, I think moving the base computer so much is what may have been the problem. If you've experienced similar, please say so in the comments. After trying...... I was still stuck. Then, during Expedition 7.... I'd changed the name of one of my bases to a title with a "helpful name" for other travelers trying to finish it...... When I changed the name of the base, it's picture disappeared, so, on a whim, I went back to my Calypso base and tried changing it's name and, that's seems to have finally worked. Freighter bug [Bug]

Loaded onto my freighter today to find all previous constructs gone.

Instead of an open area with my base stuff in it, there were just walls. I built the rooms to find my stuff but it is blocked by random junk I can't get rid of.

Activated Indium farm completely broken [Bug]

Hello there,

I'm fairly new to the game (started playing about a month ago). Earlier this week i decided to build an actuvated indium farm in order to get some money.

I built a tower of Extractors, where E_1 is connected to E_2, E_2 to E_3, etc, E_n-1 connected to E_n. The tower is then connected to a field of supply depots, where E_n is connected to D_1, D_1 to D_2, etc.

All of this is powered by a nearby electromagnetic source which happens to be in the same base.

The farm worked properly for a few days, with satisfying results.

However, everything stopped working yesterday. As I logged in to check the amount of AI in my depot, i said "Storage empty". I went to check the extractors (which were visually working) and it said they were extracting, everything was green. I waited for a cycle to complete, and 250 AI appeared in the depot. I teleported away and came back to see the storage was empty again, even though i clearly witnessed a cycle.

Today it still says Storage empty, while the extractors are still running.

I tried to cut the power cable between the power source and the extractors. The extractors obviously say they are not powered and do not run visually. However, the pop up menu is still green and says everything is working fine. I waited for a cycle to complete once again, and 250 AI went inside the depot while nothing was powered.

Some help would be greatly appreciated (I obviously searched for people with similar problems and couldn't find a solution). I play on PS5 in multiplayer if that matters. This is really bugging me and making me consider to stop playing the game altogether. Thanks for the help !

Just spent a day looking for these and finally got lucky so I thought I'd share. I've never given a portal address before so this is all hope and pray it works but give it a shot.

Adding "Retro"/ Alternative Tech to Bases? [Discussion]

It would be a neat addition to include other options for technologies to build in bases like outdated but viable energy sources that you could discover from salvage freighters or ancient ruins. For example, like windmills that generate passive low energy to medium energy output depending on the weather; or nuclear reactor that produce substantial energy at the risk of radiation leaks, etc. Solar Panels and Electromagnetic generators could still be the more reliable and ubiquitous sources of power for bases, but it would be nice to have the option to add more option to fit different themes from a scrappers junkyard powered by scrapped windmills and biofuel reactors to and underwater research base tapping into the underwater geothermal vents for power 😁 What other forms of technologies would you guys like to add to your bases?

Leviathan Frigate in other saves? [Question]

I was unclear on whether or not the leviathan frigate will be available throughout any other permutation of a game that you start after you finished the expedition. I have one particular game I was playing where I got the living ship and I didn’t know whether or not I could somehow add the frigate to that, is that possible?

Swapping ships to reset "primary" (slot 1) ship - is this possible? When I try, my old ship is still there but I can't select it. [Question]

So I have 9 ships, found a 10th crashed. I was hoping I could swap back and forth between the crashed ship and 2 of my owned ships so that I could shift my fav ship into the slot 1 position (meaning, it'll be the one that spawns at a space station when I scrap any future ships). However, once I've "swapped" ships, the one I swapped FROM is not selectable anymore afterwards. It's there, but nothing comes up when I approach it. (Another somewhat weird change is that the position of the wings on the unselectable is different too—it's a solar ship, and the wings are not tucked in as tight.)

I don't think any of this would be a problem if there was a reasonable way to manage ships rather than calling them through the mini menu. But there isn't, which is wildly exasperating. Same with multi tools. Just tedious management options.

Anyway, anyone know if this is a bug or does the old ship (swapped from) just disappear once you get a new ship and have 9 in your inventory? Thanks in advance.

I am just amazed by how much exploration has been done. [Discussion]

Hi there. I was a day one player. I've played the game on and off for all that time. I never had the free time or inclination to finish a playthrough. However, I've been really digging the game (other than the incessant pirate attacks) after the latest update. I think the thing that has me floored though is just how many systems have been discovered on the load screen. From day 1 to the last time I played, the systems were nameless and virtually empty of exploration. Now I can't look anywhere on the load screen without seeing visited systems. Way to go, everyone!

I can't get through the door in my settlement. [Bug]

I don't know how or why but, after I left my settlement and came back, I seem to have been snowed out - literally. Anyone out there know a fix?

I've tried using the terrain manipulator, but it says "Cannot mine within settlement limits." I only started playing recently and it's been a great experience thus far, so I'm hoping this doesn't change that :p

Different colors on different platforms? [Question]

So I play on ps4, while my friend plays on PC and whenever we play together, we noticed that creatures will sometimes render with different colors for both of us? For instance, I have a light blue butterfly companion that shows up as lime green for her. Has anyone else noticed this?

Need help with main quest [Question]

Ok so I just started Alone amidst the Sky. I found the clues about Artemis on the downed craft and it's telling me to go to the anomaly and talk to the life forms there. I've talked to every single thing on the anomaly including nada and polo and nothing has happened. It's stuck on the "The life forms aboard the space anomaly may be able to assist" I'm not sure if I am missing something. I also built a translator to see if it would change any of the dialogue but nothing. I already received the transmission from Artemis and now im stuck at this part. Idk why it won't move on to the next part of the quest. Not sure if it is bugged or what

I'm on Xbox. Currently in creative mode, when I'm building underground I have to mine out any room or passageway this has been going on for awhile now 2 weeks or so has anyone else been having this issue and if so any suggestions on what I can do to fix this if there is a fix? Please help.

Living ship storage upgrade via freighter not working. [Question]

Hey, so I recently got a living ship and I wanted to upgrade the storage on it but I realised I can’t. So I looked it up and saw that freighter method, so I bought the freighter, farmed some cargo bulkheads, upgraded the freighter with the living ship inside it but the storage isn’t upgrading. Uses for navigation data and technology modules? [Question]

What do you guys do with your navigation data and technology modules? I’ve unlocked all the construction options so my tech modules seem useless? I’ve also like tons of navigation modules that I don’t know what to do with them. Am I missing something?
