Loving the new updates, hoping for something new with Freighters [Suggestion]

Just a couple years back, stuff was changing and the game was interesting enough to check it out again. Particularly the focus on multiplayer. That was a turning point for the game I feel. It's just more fun when you get to join missions and show off stuff you worked on.

Really like the updated visuals, sounds, UI, items, combat. New ship designs and enemies are awesome. Love the expeditions most of all, they bring a lot of excitement to the game.

The more aggressive sentinels and pirate raids is awesome. Makes it a lot more challenging and the game feels more lively.

One thing I would really love to see is a Freighter/frigate update. I keep having this idea in my mind that new missions are added and have a choice to passively collect loot from frigate expeditions, or you can actually join one, or more frigates on missions to help. Shorter expeditions are easier and longer ones are more risky but more lucrative. You have a fleet you can command in your starship, or on planet surfaces. The success depends on collateral damage and loot recovered which impacts overall crew morale.

Also when free roaming planets, when NPC frigates warp inside the atmosphere, I think it would pretty cool to also see starships land on the planet from the frigates and you can watch the NPCs carry out random missions. Even having an option to interact with them, to help them, or ambush them.

Another cool thing I would hope to see is something new with the Derelict Freighters. If you had the option to scavenge the freighter as the default way to find and sell loot, or if you want to use the data you get from all the data pads and logs to accept story missions. Instead of just selling/donating the logs. Story missions would take longer but might yield something unique. Completing the story may take place all on board, or at other locations tied to the fate...

I cannot recharge Oxygen underwater from "quick menu" when the Hazard Protection is "enabled". [Bug]

So i just noticed this, and i dont think i remember it was the case. But i havent dived for a while now..

When the HAZARD PROTECTION is ENABLED (being on a toxic planet for example. no matter the weather severity, just enough to enable it).. The "REBREATHER UPGRADE" (underwater oxygen upgrade module) is MISSING from the RECHARGE MENU when underwater! Everything else is showing normaly except this!

That is not the case when i am on clear weather as it will normaly show on the "quick menu" recharge!

Ofcourse in both cases i can normally recharge the module from the inventory.

I did some "troubleshooting" like deleting/reinstalling modules etc but nothing changes!

Can someone check it so that i know if its just me? Or do you know if this was always the case, or it changed recently for some reason?

Discoveries Wiped [Bug]

Just had all my discovery data pretty much wiped; my ship names, planet names and system names have just reverted to default. All of these were named whilst connected to multiplayer and the discovery servers and I am currently connected as well. When I revisit the systems the names go back to being named but this is very annoying considering I had named over 60 systems. Does anyone know of a fix or have any experience with this?

base building parts [Suggestion]

1.artificial biome: this artificial biome which would look like a shield generator from star wars prevents any loss of hazard protection and life support meaning you can walk around near your base forever even in the most hostile biomes

2.greenhouse: in these greenhouses you would be able to plant a variety of different plants for oxygen,carbon,sodium etc.

3.sentinel jammer: with this technology installed there would be no sentinels near your base mesning you can have a base without beeing attacked every second by sentinels even on aggressiv sentinel planets

4.sentinel beacon: trough this beacon you csn call sentinels for a fight if you just want to have a fight or need nanites

5.turrets: this explains itself you just mount a big ass turret on your base which vaporizes any unwelcome visitors

No more construction prompts at settlement on xbox [Question]

I've seen similar posts but no solution. I have the overseer office built but the terminal to add construction materials no longer shows up. It's not there and I don't get a marker. Is this just a glitch? Should I find a new settlement?

Also my settlement is infected with tons of sentinels so it's super annoying just moving around. Does that get better at some point?1.

Returning player [Discussion]

hey all, i played when it first dropped, and actually really enjoyed it and had a positive experience, but put it down pretty quickly since there wasnt much to do. i recently got the itch again and jumped back it, but got pretty overwhelmed with how different everything is. i’ve been watching videos explaining all the updates i missed, but i wanted to see if i could get some lesser known tips from the community on getting a good start going, l dont have alot of free time to game so i dont want to be bumbling around since it seems like you can easily waste your time by doing unimportant things. thanks in advance!

Help with flight settings/controls [Discussion]

The flight controls in NMS are really not clicking with me. I keep over turning when I try to do a short turn and it just doesn't feel right. I tried switching to 1st person and 3rd person but that didn't help.

For a comparison whatever the default flight controls for Everspace were those felt more natural to me.

Anyone have tips or share their settings that might feel more natural to me?

Do you get storage augmentations back when scrapping your ship? [Question]

I have spent a lot of credits and a lot of time ship scrapping to max out the inventory slots on an S-tier explorer, but it's ugly as shit. I know if you buy a ship and immediately scrap it you can get storage mods, but if I scrap a ship that I have added doezens of augmentations on will I get them all back?

motion sickness [Question]

Can this game still give you motion sickness? My friend wants me to play this game but je forgets I get motion sickness and have played another game than found out I can get motion sickness while playing certain games. Is there ways I can fix this so it won't ever be a problem or should I not play? I hope I'm not breaking any rules. I only came to ask this

I’ve been loving the new settlement feature even since it has been added, but I’m sick and tired of every time a construction opportunity arrives. It’s either a marketplace or a starship landing pad. I already have 4-5 of each and I need housing for more citizens. But it never gives my a option to build housing only markets, taverns and landing pads. It’s really frustrating cause I build I base next to the settlement as well to make it like a western uranium mining town. And I don’t want all that effort to go to waste.

no idea how to progress? [Question]

i’ve been playing the game for about 2 hours and i need to search for some origin of a signal but these little robot sentinel things keep following me around and shooting me. it says i’m on an extreme sentinel planet? they don’t stop coming and i can’t leave the planet so i have no idea how to progress because i have to be on this planet. i just dug a hole and am staying in here but they still wont go away. what on earth do i do? it’s very aggravating because i don’t have a way of dealing with them

Stuck at 3 pilots max for my squadron. [Question]

Hi hi, I can't hire a 4th squadron member. The slot is unlocked and the other 3 slots are full. It seems to be race related, if i dismiss a pilot i can then recruit a pilot of the same race. I've tried reloading in different systems to recruit a pilot to my living ship but it doesn't work unless I dismiss one first but then I'm still stuck at 3. I currently have 3 exotics in my squadron (two are matching) and I want the 4th slot to be taken up by my spare living ship. I've looked at guides but nothing has helped. Apparently there was a patch to deal with similar looking pilots not being recruitable but that doesn't seem to be working. Anyone have any ideas?

needed a couple of tries this time around

then build a door to enter the dome and interact with the animal (thanks to the companion mod). the dome have some interaction prompt when you look up inside of it, so it may interfere with the prompt from the creature. Just move around and you should be able to do it.

I played on PC before, and one of the cool things I liked was the ability to map keyboard keys to the action menu. I mapped a shortcut for switching between 1st and 3rd for the ship and player view, and it was great. I’m wondering if it is possible to do the same on PS5?

How does wiring work with solar panels and batteries? [Question]

Let's say I have 10 batteries and 20 solar panels, do I have to wire a solar panel to each battery getting the most power so that would make that 10 wires? so in total that would be 200 wires? this doesn't seem right, I'm still unsure how many wires to put down or how many times I need to link the same solar panel to a battery

So it was crashed on a planet while doing the storey right before going to the anomaly. I clamed it and left it there will i be able to sumon it to the anomly and scrap it (or should i keep it and repair it)there as i cant get wnough credits to buy the wireing loom for a mission upgrade.

Co-Op Friend Enters and Leaves System [Question]

My friend and I are trying to play NMS in co-op online. When they connect they instantly leave the system and it just repeats. If I stay in my ship I can see them running around and it's fine. But once I leave my ship it starts happening again. It's as if we're not in sync possibly? Anyone else had this problem or know of any solutions?

Extend a base? [Question]

Hello all,

I recently discovered a gas cloud near my base that I'd like to mine. However, it's literally just outside of my base's range (about 100 units too far away). Is there any way to move or extend the area in which you can build a base? I'd really rather not have to build two bases right next to each other :(

If not, is there a way I can hide a base's marker?

Travelling far away to reset your mission to combat bugs is a great addition... Or it would be if it didn't keep sending light years away to to same spot before I reset it! [Bug]

Seriously this bug is one of my only gripes about this otherwise enjoyable experience. First it was the computer archives mission, but I have the done more meaningful parts of that so I figured, meh that's alright. But now it's the ghost in the machine mission. I cannot speak to a multitool guy if you keep yeeting me to an outlaw station 500000ly away! God damn these bouncy waypoints trigger me something chronic.

Frames drop after entering atmosphere. [Bug]

I recently got a new computer, and everything is so much better, except for one thing. This did not happen at first. But one time, I entered the atmosphere of a planet, and the game showed a frame of my inventory, then the frames went down to about 10-15. I can fix this by reopening the game, but is there a way to fix this?

No Mans Sky concept: Derelict Sentinel Freighters [Suggestion]

Exactly what you would expect, a derelict Sentinel battleship that harbors corrupted sentinels, exploring this freighter will have you discovering what happened to it and gain sentinel modules, nanites, units, and other various cargo along the way,

However, fully exploring this freighter will unlock an opportunity to enter a control room, and having the option to either gain freighter upgrades, nanites, or the option to self destruct the freighter and having a time limit to exit. The reward for escaping in time is to deactivate sentinels for the entire system

Maybe also add more types of corrupted sentinels along the way, like maybe a corrupted mech?

I'm fine if the game doesn't receive content updates if it means the devs can focus on performance fixes. [Discussion]

By today's standards I think my machine is pretty above average with it's specs. I've noticed whenever landing near or walking into a settlement, my machine begins to roar like a jet engine, and NMS pulls a google chrome on me and eats all my RAM, essentially lowering fps greatly. The game is really well optimized when flying in space, but whenever you're on the ground, so many things render at once and you lose a lot of performance, especially with settlements.

My specs are:

GPU: RTX 3080 10gb

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x

RAM: 32GB

If I can borderline run this game, then I can only imagine what other people are experiencing. LMK your experience with the game's performance lately.

Blighted - first expedition - awesome [Discussion]

Blighted is my first expedition - what a great experience. Just had to get my thoughts out and appreciation to all.

The phases were a ton of fun. I just loved running into fellow travelers - from the mad flex of golden vectors and experienced garb to cats rocking their starter fighter.

Friends on missions, solo players — what a lot of fun!

It totally blew my mind how neat the community is. I love the base designs that other travelers built for people just starting an expedition. So thoughtful and creative, and helpful.

Had a blast with sentinel hunt — I saw a traveler being chased by a swarming roving sentinel pack — so I swooped down a few passes with my solar ship to thin their hp and take out a quad since those are a pia.

I hoped it would have been a cool experience from their pov to have a solar ship air screaming from the sky, photon cannons blasting.

It was crazy to see the travelers fight from altitude, at night, with backpack trail run jumping, sentinel lights and weapon flashes—the struggle seemed real! Just had to help. The traveller was so tiny, and there were so many sentinels.

I liked how the expedition included freighter warp - I learned how valuable freighter warp is. Time to do more derelict spelunking in main save.

All in all, the most fun I have had in a long time, and the awards are super cool. I made it to the expedition end just in time—very well done! Also, I hate to say it - for the first time in five years, my first new galaxy.

If you delete a base, can another player build a base in that spot? [Question]

I've been scouting S class activated indium deposits for a new farm I'm planning to build. During this process, I have found several perfectly good S deposits that I may not use and I was thinking I could share their locations once I pick one. However, I've been marking their locations by throwing down a base computer. If I delete the unused bases, will other players be able to build in that spot? Sorry if this is an obvious question, I'm a relatively new player and have had multiplayer turned off since the beginning.

Found two exotics waiting for an A or S class of a fighter? [Question]

I'm in a 3 star gek system and have a trade post next to my base so I'm constantly keeping an eye out for a fighter I really want but it only seems to land as a B class. While waiting I've gotten two squids.

Do all ships in a system have the chance to be A or S? And shouldn't those odds be better than finding two exotics?

Cant warp to galactic core [Bug]

So im in the hesperius dimension trying to warp to the center. im doing everything you are meant to do to get there, im in the last system in the galactic core path, im not in free look, i have all 3 warp drive upgrades and my warp drive is full but it still wont work.

Power Switches Don't Work [Question]

I tried hooking up a power door to my base bc I live on an extreme planet, and the frequent storms cloud up the base with the haze that appears during it when I use a holo door, and I don't like that happening, so I decided to use power doors instead because they do block the atmosphere, but, I tried hooking up a power inverter to it, it doesn't work, when one side is powered by a proximity switch, the output side of the inverter is still powered, even tho the lights on the inverter get flipped on and off like they're supposed to, the third node on the inverter in the middle literally does nothing, I tried hooking it up to a direct power source, and nothing happened, I tried seeing if it itself had an output, and it doesn't, I tried doing some research and I could only find a few videos explaining it but the only ones I could find about how to set it up properly were all from 2019 or 2020, and sometime during the time between then and now, an update was released that messed it all up, so how do I hook up a power door? I also noticed that when I snap the door to the base itself, it receives power directly from the base itself keeping it closed at all times, even if I out a manual switch on the door and hook up the input side to the base, and the output to the door, the output side is still recieving power from the door, which is powered by the base, so is it even possible to use power doors in bases anymore?

You should be able contact starships you come across in space similar to when they call you while you're pulse driving. You can select the starship communicator and have the same options when talking aliens on the space station.

Can't build anything in my Settlement [Bug]

After I played with my friend a bit ago, I haven't been able to build any settlement buildings. Not sure why and it has pretty much stalled my settlement progress. I can still take citizen requests and see people of interest. I am pretty far into the settlement so I don't want to restart. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Artifact key under the bedrock?? [Question]

Got a "quest" from a map thing and got directed to some ruins, that are in the ground. And one single artifact box is under a layer of bedrock that I can't seem to get through despite me tunneling almost all over this general area like an infestation of cave systems. Opinions on a survival update/mode? [Discussion]

I would absolutely love a survival update. While I adore no man's sky, I don't think there's anything that I really considered more than a minor inconvenience.

Dangerous fauna is rare and only takes a couple bullets, sentinels can be outran easily even at five stars, and starship fights might be the worst of them all. In fact the new update was probably the thing that made me realize my complaint. I am by no means a crack pilot, so if I'm able to shoot 4 pirates out of the sky without losing Shields in a C-Class explorer with no upgrades by simply reversing then I feel there is a balancing issue. In fact, I don't believe there's any danger in the game that you can't very easily run away from. With sentinels on the ground you just hop in a ship, and in space you just go in the anomaly.

It just makes upgrading my ships weapons and defences, or my own, feel pointless. I don't really think the hazardous environments need change, anything more intense be just plain annoying. However having to deal with more intense threats while also having to worry about your oxygen and such would be.. amazing. Also having to actually deal with problems you get caught up in versus just fucking off into space or the anomaly would be a good source of tension as well.

Please bring me the anxiety HG.

No Normandy [Question]

Hi folks!

I just redeemed my Normandy (from the Beachhead expedition) the other day and it hasn't appeared.

I did already have a freighter, and I only had 5 other frigates, so it's not related to those particular redemption bugs.

I also did not receive the sticker, but I did successfully redeem the banner and the Paragon/Renegade titles.

I just finished Expedition 6 and the Normandy successfully spawned on that save, so... am I just screwed here?

Someones built a base really close to mine and I play with multiplayer off. Is there some way to make this players base not visible. [Question]

I'm really stuck [Question]

So I have 3 primary missions, all unable to be progressed. I haven't unlocked portal yet so I can't input any glyphs. I've tried a few black holes but still no luck.

After entering one of the black holes, one of my primary missions vanished.

I'm left now with 2 missions that are impossible for me to progress unless I find a solutit around it. Any advice would be so helpful, I'm not far in the story but I'm nearly 40/50 hours on this character.

What are the ACTUAL minimum requirements for the game to run? [Discussion]

Supposedly you need 8 gb of ram and 1.5gb of vram.

But today I decided to share my library with my partner so she had something to do. She decided to give NMS a shot.

Her laptop is an Asus with 4gb ram and no dedicated gpu.

She gets 40-45 fps on all low settings... And frankly it surprises me that she managed to start the game at all.

This leads me to believe NMS actual minimum requirements are a bit lower than the advertised ones...

So... That leads me to think either HG is really good at optimization, or they just lied about minimum requirements.

What do you guys think?

Reverse Engineering a Black Hole [Question]

I note black holes are one way wormholes, but I want to find a way to get to a certain region as part of a giant intergalactic maze I am trying to create.

Is this possible?

Also why do some systems show up to eight black hole icons on the map? There only ever seems to be one hole and it always seems to take you to the same place?

Beyond building beautiful bases, what motivates you most in this game? What keeps you guys playing No Man's Sky for years? [Discussion]

I started No Man's Sky in 2020 during the initial lockdown and it was love at first sight. It was the game I played the most during the pandemic and it helped me a lot during this tortuous process. Now in 2022, I still love the game, and I want to keep playing, but lately I haven't found motivation to play and I would like some motivational words from you. "Play another game" I've been doing that already, but none are as unique and amazing as No Man's Sky to me. The biggest problem is that I don't like to build pretty bases like many do; In fact, I didn't play No Man's Sky for months during the Frontiers update, because while the new build parts are really beautiful, it's just not for me. I'm back since the Sentinels update, I really love the rework on weapons and sentinels IA, and I'm loving Outlaws even more, my favorite update so far. I'm even using the Expedition 6 save as a fresh start with no shortcuts, as on my 500+ hour account I cheated too much, which contributed to ruining my experience. Anyway, combat is just my second favorite thing about this game; what I really love most is exploration, and that's where No Man's Sky needs to improve for me. After base building and community updates, and two combat updates, I really want to believe that an exploration upgrade will come. The biggest problem is that after visiting all the biomes, everything looks pretty much the same. All animals and plants are half the same. I don't see much point in visiting new galaxies if they're all the same, although I'm enjoying touring the Paholiang galaxy due to the current expedition. Anyway, forgive me for the wall of text, I would just like some motivational words from you all so that I can enjoy the game again, because I really love it and I want to continue playing.

Still reasonably new to the game, but have questions. [Question]

So I’m about 20 hours into this game, it’s unique enough to keep me interested, but there are several things that remain frustrating. I’m curious if I’m missing something or if things are just this way.

First, storage space. I was very lucky in the anomaly the first time with a stranger giving me 5 components that were extremely valuable ( 250,000,000 ) units. This allowed me to buy a better ship and upgrade storage capacity. I’ve also upgraded the exo suit storage a few times as well, but constantly run out of space. I try to keep basic necessities on me ( carbon, refueling materials, etc. ) but one abandoned freighter run and I’m full and needing to delete items again. Can anything be done to get more space other than the slow exo suit and expensive ship upgrades?

Second… Sentinels, do they ever stop? I can be on a planet mining materials and if a sentinel see’s me use my mining laser on a rock, they attack and the only option is to fight a never ending battle, or get in my spacecraft and wait to jump away to end pursuit. Is there any other options, because these two issues are frustrating enough to make me close down my PC after awhile and just stop playing until the next day. But I don’t see myself playing for a long time while constantly dealing with these minor issues.

Are solar ships actually any good? [Question]

Hey guys, I’ve looked through this thread and unless I am just incredibly incompetent (which is entirely possible) I haven’t seen this question asked yet.

I found my first S class solar ship a little while ago, but I haven’t really found an excuse to use it. Based on its stats, it looks to me like a potentially slightly better shuttle? Meaning sure, it’s a nice all around vehicle, but it doesn’t seem to be good enough to use for any specific situations. Am I missing something? I absolutely love how they look and definitely want an excuse to be using it more often, so I appreciate any help that is provided. Thank you!

Experiment: How Multitool Pools work and how many multitools can be found in a single system? [Information]

Ever wanted to know how many multitools can be found in a particular system? Well I thought I'd find out on my 6 planet-system during my search for an Alien Experimental. I thoroughly regret doing this. It took much longer than I expected, and the best I found was a C Class Alien pistol. Sad.

NMS Vets - let me know if what mistakes I've made or add your experience in the comments.

Having only recently returned to NMS after a long hiatus, I knew there's a 'pool' of multitools in each system but couldn't quite remember how it works. After randomly landing on planets within my system there seemed to be inconsistency with what appeared, so I recorded my results. See image in this post which shows the multitools found on each planet.

METHODOLOGY:

  • The goal was to check the multitool pool for each planet in the system. This is done by loading the game file on a planet, checking the multitool box, then without re-loading the game I fly to each other planet/moon/space station in the system until 1 multitool box is checked on each celestial body. Once that is done, reload the game on the next planet and redo the whole process until it is repeated for each planet/moon/space station in the system

  • This process was tested on a single star system consisting of 5 planets, 1 moon and a space station

  • DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES I DID. This was a new game file, using the crappy the OG spaceship, hardly any upgrades, in a lawless star system, on survival difficulty. I was constantly bombarded with attacks from pirates which was absolutely great /s. Also with no efficiency upgrades I had to constantly stop to mine titrium between trips to each planet. This project was a fricken grind. I'll never do something like this again until all my stuff is upgraded. I hope it helps someone because it took way longer than...

Exotic ship? or just S class [Question]

I came upon this "Pirate" system, and was completely new to me since I haven't played in a while, I landed in a planet with a hub in it, and down from the stars came this absolutely incredible ship that immediately reminded me of Old Republic Era Starwars fighters. Just wanted to know if it is an exotic/unique ship, or just an S class

Missing Multitool [Bug]

Hi fellow explorers,

I just started playing again today and checked all my frigates and ships, I stopped playing last year October. I first went to my freighter to check on the ships I sent out before and was shook that all the ships I parked there were all gone. What I did was first go to a planet to check the summon options and happily saw them there.

I checked out my inventory next and so far I think I didn't lose a single mod nor supplies. What went missing though was my rifle and pistol. Is there some kind of bug after the recent updates (I dont know how many there are)? If so, did anyone experience this?

How do you name things? [Discussion]

Just a general survey for the more creative people out there. How do you normally decide on the names for your main ships, freighters and planets and such?

Google translate has been my biggest Friend. I'll think of a pretty standard name or just something pretty cool for what it is, plug it into the English side of Google translate and keep switching languages until it comes out as something unique to work as a name. the languages I turn to the most usually end up being Maori, Irish or Icelandic.

For example my main ship, S-class solar I named the Olithreach Baile, slightly altered spelling of Irish for "Homeward Pilgrim". Or there was a super cool looking flying whale on one of my base planets, renamed it to the "Rangian Whale" for the Maori word for sky.

Anyways, what do you guys usually do to get creative/funny names for your bases and all that?

Anyone else fight Sentinels with the Doom track playing? [Discussion]

While the music in NMS is pretty ambient and nice to listen to while roaming the galaxy discovering strange new worlds, when I'm purging sentinels I play the Doom track to make the fight feel way more epic. Because sometimes you just want to feel like an Angry Old Testament God! Helps when your Multitool has been upgraded into an S-class BFG.

I'm just curious if I'm the only one that dose this or if other people like to swap in different soundtracks to enhance the experience.

"The First Traveller" bug [Bug]

Currently on the mission and am at the point where it wants me to learn the glyph sequence for this planet. Randomized gravity [Suggestion]

I think it would add a lot to the game if depending on the planet size it has different gravity

Maybe on less gravity planet you move slightly faster as it's easier move, and on higher gravity worlds movement can be a little more punishing so exocrafts finally have a use

Also certain materials can be found on different gravity planets, like condensed carbon is more common on higher, and silicate powder more common on lower

Restart or just start playing? [Question]

I got the game when it first came out, and played for maybe 2-3 weeks. As probably everyone knows, there was jack and shit to do, other than farming for the sake of farming. I'm considering giving it another shot, since I've heard it's gotten infinitely better. But if I do, should I keep playing on my old save, or start over? I've heard something about a storyline, but I'm guessing that was something that was added after I stopped playing, since I don't really remember much of a story.

100 hours in and my biggest takeaway is: This community, man… [Discussion]

I know it’s been said to death, but I really didn’t get a full grasp on how nice most of you guys are until I experienced more of what the game has to offer. So with 100 hours in, here are my points that have probably already been said 1000 times:

Brief history: my last two MMOs were DC Universe Online (left because of shrinking player base) and Warframe (left because of content drought and multiple updates going in the opposite direction I like). The player base for DCUO was pretty decent other than the obvious villain vs. hero stuff, which is expected. Warframe on the other hand is a little less forgiving. Plenty of good people, but just as many where iF yOu DoN’t FoLlOw ThE mEtA, gTfO!!

I followed NMS from announcement until the infamous: the universe is so big, you may never see another player! Uhhhh… what? I totally tuned out after that. Saw that it bombed on launch, but have been seeing for months now that people on Reddit absolutely praise it and say what a complete 180 it’s made. So here I am!

First was the game’s wiki page. So neat and organized. It tells you where to find something, what’s it’s uses are, and what it can make. Just super helpful.

Then I checked out a few YouTube videos. Learned Chlorine refining and ship scrapping like most people, which in a weird way was fun for me honesty. Still a grind and I like that to an extent. Mostly because you get out exactly as much as you’re willing to put into it.

Then there’s the anomaly. My first trip someone gave me activated indium worth a few million. Wow! Everyone remembers what 2-3 million units can do for you early game. Just the other day, someone gave me a stack of items worth ONE BILLION UNITS! I couldn’t believe it. I like to carry a cushion of 100 million, so when I saw that I was blown away. Just incredibly generous! (I haven’t cashed them...

To base builders: How many use mods? [Discussion]

I like building in other games and I'm getting the hang of glitch building slowly but surely. Coming from other games though, I wish we could place NPCs in our bases so they don't feel so isolated and lonely.

I found Ecli-EA (spelling may be off) and thought it looked awesome. Favorite thing is placing animals and NPCs! But, it'd be a bummer if I'm like...one of a handful that uses it. If modding is uncommon for this game, I think I'd like to go without.

I'm gonna be honest, I've played nms on and off for years and while I enjoy the game and the little loops of building/exploring but I've kinda hit a mental block. I want to take these two systems I have base in and turn them into pure profit for myself as well as plenty of places to just go and marvel at but I really don't have any idea on what to build other than your typical types of farms/mining outposts. can't jump to the 10th galaxy - need help [Question]

Hey travellers, I need a bit help. I did all the galaxy jumps from euclid to the 9th galaxy so I definitely know how to do them and that you - in some cases - need one of the color drives. For all jumps I used gateway systems that were posted here a while ago and it worked every time. In this case - the jump vom 9 to 10 - it is not working. I have all drives fully installed and hyper drive is completely full as well. When I enter the galaxy map and switch to "show the way to the galaxy centre" there is no line from the gateway system to the core like in all the other cases. The core is simply not selectable. I already tried switching ships but the issue remains the same, I also tried restarting the game. I also considered that the system is not near enough but when I jump to the next system and then go into the galaxy map, select the path to the core, it shows me the line to the previous system...so it is obviously the right one. I don't have any ideas anymore. Are there other possible reasons or is it just a bug?

Is the squid one of the rarer exotics to find organically? [Discussion]

So I'm about 35 hours into my first save. I'm having a ridiculous amount of fun farming units and nanites, ship hunting and scrapping for upgrades for my current ship and just over all enjoying most aspects of the game but I'm noticing the squid as of yet is near non-existent. I have found and purchased several exotics so far, all of the ball type so far (can't recall this ship types name, but the one with folding wings, or the large fin on top etc). I have been in and out of the anomaly in every system I've found and so far I've seen exactly one player using a squid. By contrast, I've seen around a dozen living ships. Are the squids just that uncommon, or just unpopular? Any tips for system types etc for some one wanting to find one organically?

New player with so many questions. [Question]

I’m at the first planet the game takes you to once you get your ship and I feel looost. What are all the ships flying above me? Randomly generated ones? Why is it so hard to find ferrite Why do I have to run around to find ferrite if I run out of gas then run all the way back to my ship? What are all the bases I keep finding that I can save at? Random people’s bases? Can I find other players in game?

Basically I just feel like I’ve been dumped into the wild and it’s awesome but I’m hoping you’re supposed to be this dumb at first.

Network Options [Question]

No Man's Sky shadercache reloads everytime I start the game since updating Lutris to 0.5.10.1 [Question]

I'm using Ubuntu 20.04 (64 bit, Desktop).

Until yesterday I used the Lutris version 0.5.9.1, installed using: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lutris-team/lutris sudo apt update sudo apt install lutris

as said here: https://lutris.net/downloads

Because of an issue I updated Lutris and recieved 0.5.10 (using Ubuntu Software Updater).

However, with Lutris version 0.5.10 I was not able to start any game anymore, because of a bug that was fixed with 0.5.10.1

I tried to update, but on Ubuntu, Luris version 0.5.10. was the latest version.

So I moved over to Github and got the *all.deb file for 0.5.10.1 and installed that using the Ubuntu software center.

Now everything works fine again, but I have one issue with No Man's Sky:

Everytime I start the game, the shadercache gets build from scratch. This takes some time (about 1-2 minutes) and during that time, the game stutters. But its even more annoying, cause if I f.e. load the game while I'm on a freighter, the freighter cache gets loaded, but when I then fly to a planet, It stutters again, to load the planet. If I move then back to the freighter, the game runs smooth, until I restart the game.

This was not an issue in 0.5.9.1, at least not on my end.

Is there something I can do?

Empty Space Anomaly [Question]

I was playing a multiplayer nexus mission when I suddenly had a power outage. Once my game was reloaded, my space anomaly is always empty now. Nobody around or showing up. Multiplayer is enabled. I've reloaded my save I've left the anomaly and came back multiple times. Nothing. Is there some way to fix this? It's lonely out here.

Living Ship question [Question]

I'm trying to follow coordinates for my void egg, but I think this thing is inside a mountain. Is it possible for this thing to accidentally spawn inside of a mountain? If so, how do i get to it? I've tried digging with the terrain manipulator, but when i get to a certain point, i can't dig anymore. I know you can't dig around ships, so if that's my living ship, what do I do?

VR Quick Menu [Question]

Lush planet [Question]

Does anyone have glyphs or coordinates for a Lush (Any type), a bright green planet with a blue ocean or ponds, and earthy like trees near the center of the Eissentam galaxy (<10~15k LY)?

I searched nearly 100 systems for one I only found 2 green planets but both didn't have trees.

Annoyances of building in Hub [Discussion]

On short, I'm with that group of people playing NMS from launch. The community since the introduction of multiplayer has on the whole been mostly great, friendly, and helpful.

Recently I've seen that building a base in hubs is not always the best, being almost constantly attacked by some n00b whom think it's a great idea attacking someone trying to build their base. How do I know they are n00bs? Once I start returning fire, they either die quickly or run away like the cowards they are.

Anyone else experienced this? It's really annoying.

I've always gone for dreadnought class capital freighter as I have always been led to believe that they are the best for inventory and stats but I'm not sure if this is correct could anybody elborate if there are any difference between the types of capital freighters ( oculus, dreadnought etc) or is just looks. Stutter when changing location [Question]

I'm not sure if that's a normal behaviour so I thought I ask here:

When I change the location, like going from my freighter down on a planet, or from one planet to a different planet, the game stutters as it would load some cache stuff (about 30 - 120 seconds).After that the game runs smooth (until I change location again).

Is that normal behaviour or is there something I could do to improve?

My system:

Intel i3 10100Nvidia GTX 1060 (3 GB)16 GB DDR4 RAM (2666 MHZ)500 M.2 SSD Storage (where the game is installed, also the only storage in my pc, with about 100 GB free storage)

I'm playing on lowest settings.

I don't know if thats also normal behaviour, but the game uses only 4 GB Ram on my PC (I have about 2 gb ram usage when on desktop and ~5,7 when the game runs)

250 million in parts for a ship that was supposed to be worth 20 mil!! [Bug]

I came back to the game after a 2 year absence, and found you can now sell ships, so I had a damaged A class ship I was going to repair but decided I’d sell now that’s a option, at the starship upgrade/sell point it said I’d get 20million units in parts back so I sold it, went to the universal sales terminal to find I had some parts worth 250 million can’t remember what they were called, but also had other parts that equaled 20 million.

Anyone else had this happen? Not sure if it’s random bug or something to do with it being a ship from an old save file? Either way not complaining about a free 250mil, I won the NMS lottery!

So I'm completely new to this game and am constantly having no inventory space to do anything! I'm not sure what the smartest way to make money is other than selling items and scanning unknown objects. And I really want to explore with my friend but our inventories and ships basically always have no room.

Other than selling items, what am I supposed to do? Because dropping things from my inventory just destroys them? How does a space wanderer keep their items organized?

Ganymede base [Build]

This is Ganymede Station on the planet Ganymede in the Ceres system also known as The Belt (base freely inspired by the tv show the Expanse). It is a base built close a commercial station (another one is not so far). A breathing air production tower provides fresh air to the underground part (please don't harvest the carbon plants). Please check in to the security dome before going further in the caves. Some beds are available to take a rest. There is a prohibited laboratory where something bad happened, don't cross the barricade. Apparently, a native civilization was here but no sign of life. In case of infestation, turn off lights and any energy source.

In case of storms, you can use heat radiators to maintain your environmental shield, but the Ganymede company advices to run because of potential asteroids impacts. Some natural plants can have tentacles, please stay away until our scientific team gives its approval.

I know this game can be a grind. But when did it become so hard to get salvaged freighter modules? Used to be you could hit a few transports and get a bunch but I've been doing the crashed and derelict freighters and I get nothing but a waste of time. Help Finding Settlement [Question]

So after months of searching, I have finally found the perfect planet that I want to settle on. The only issue is I can not find a settlement on it and I have already tried using settlement maps and reloading for hours. Every time I use a map it gives me a settlement on specifically two other planets in the same system except the planet I'm on. I've seen every other structure you can find on the planet so I know it can be inhabited. Also, there are flying and water creatures but no ground creatures, could this affect the results, or is it just a bug? Any help is appreciated.

NMS Infinite Loading Screen [Bug]

Hi Guys

While I was at a Korvax Outpost and doing the "math" Challenge for a distress signal my game decided to crash. After restarting my game and trying to load my save, I get stuck on an infinite loading screen. Even when I try to make a new save, the loading screen still is infinite. I have tried to research solutions. and have tried every single one I have found, including deleting the SHADERCACHE folder, messing with the actual save files, and even updating my PC's BIOS. I do not know what to do and I literally cannot play the game. This is super frustrating. Any help would e sincerely appreciated. Thanks.

Sure way to find a settlement on a target planet? [Question]

I just got back into the game and I started a new character as I had completely forgotten how everything works.

My ultimate goal is to set up a base right near a settlement on a paradise planet. I have found the planet that is desirable, but what I want to know is if there is likely a settlement on that planet, and how I should go about finding it if so.

I know the cartographer sells routes to settlements, but is there any way to ensure I will find one on the planet I’m interested in.

Easy way to get Quicksilver ? [Question]

I would really like to buy the armor the merchant sell at the anomaly but doesnt feel like grinding the missions since sometimes they bug and i need to restart a whole new mission and i work 40h a week so i dont have a lot of time for grinding

Can't teleport between Space Stations? [Question]

Coming back to No Mans Sky after a while, started a new game in normal mode.

Made a little starter base and played through the tutorial, until I unlocked my Hyperdrive and warped to another system. There I visited the space station, got the exosuit inventory slot, and flew down to the "Tropical Planet" to set up a more permanent base.

Once I built a teleporter on my new tropical base, I wasn't able to warp back to the space station of my original system. In fact, after warping between my two bases, it became apparent that I was unable to warp to a space station outside my current system.

Is that how the game has always worked? I recall being able to warp between any space stations I've previously visited.

I loaded up the game and my planet is totally different now. [Question]

So, I played the game for quite a bit last night (been playing for months now) and I saved everything and quit the game as I usually would.

I load it up the save this evening, but when I get on, the planet I was on ( a nuclear planet) has now completely changed (now it is an Icy Planet).

I really liked how the planet originally looked and was hoping to set up a base there, but now it just looks quite bland in comparison.

Does anyone know why this happened? Also, I arrived on this planet after >! following the portal to Artemis and encountering the Atlas !< I'm unsure if this had any affect on why it changed.

Also I have never had any issues with this save before.

Any help or answers would be greatly appreciated

Why won’t my settlement let me build houses? [Question]

I have an A class settlement with max production and 70% happiness, but only 30 residents. I know that to increase population, you need to build residential buildings, but I just won’t get the option to. Is my settlement broken? I’ve gone through 20 decisions to build even one house and never got the opportunity.

No Joystick Support: Alternatives? [Question]

Bought the game ages ago, waited to boot till my simpit was put together. Login: can’t use a joystick.

First off: WTH? I could understand not at the start, and there’s a lot of crafting/non-spaceship flying time, but why limit the gameplay/experience.

I looked around and it sounds like it is a major PITA to use a joystick, might cause issues with other titles and undo itself when an update occurs.

So: Question: I was interested in the game because I just wanted to futz around and explore for an hour before bed, sometime low key, not mission based (so I could quit when I wanted to), relatively pretty and ideally VR, that I could play in my simpit.

Since that doesn’t seem possible with NMS. Any recommendations for alternatives? Obviously Star Citizen would fit the bill (minus VR), but performance/crashing is still a major issue, and I want to detox, not feel frustrated :)

Reduced ship stats upon purchase. [Question]

I've noticed a very strange thing.

I'll be looking at the stats of a ship including the bonuses, but when I purchase it those bonuses drop significantly.

For example, I just bought a solar ship with a maneuverability rating of 370, but when I bought it the rating was 350.

Two Week Fleet Expeditions? Did something glitch? [Question]

I just logged into the game after putting my fleet onto a few expeditions last night before bed. None of them seemed like they would take longer than 21 hours. Sounds about right, yeah? Well, I went to go inspect the ships and check how far along they were and the messages pop up that the entire trip will take, on average, 345 hours. Longest one was at 355 hours.

Did I screw something up? The events of last night include: Completing the Atlas Path and the Artemis Path, choosing a new galaxy to go to, and setting up a tiny outpost in my new galaxy. Did something glitch or did I make a grave mistake, somewhere?

The Fleet Expeditions were a Trade one, an Voyage of Discovery, and a Balanced one.

Building door blocked by volcano… [Question]

I’m trying to complete the under the rebel star mission but I’m stuck. The building that I need to get into is on one of those volcano planets and the door to the building is just slighting inside the side of the volcano. I can’t mine it with the terraforming tool and I can’t find any other way in. Help please! It took me so long to finally get this mission to trigger:(

Does anyone else experience the game's color changing to only gray and red on certain planets? [Question]

I'm not sure if this is intended or a glitch, because it only happens on certain types of planets for me (I think it's a glitch fwiw). I play on PS5 and when I enter the atmosphere of hot/desert/reddish planets the entire color scheme of my game changes to gray and red. All other colors are suddenly not being used.

For example, when I'm flying through space my ship's trails are the standard blue/white, but when I enter the atmosphere of these planets the entire game shifts to a gray and reddish hue, blue water on the planet turns dark red (swimming through it sucks), my ship's afterburners are suddenly hot pink/red, the mining laser is no longer green and has also turned red. Everything just changed to gray and red. There's no other colors to speak of.

This does not happen on any other type of planets. Everything stays normal on lush planets, water planets, ice planets, etc. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if there's a potential fix. It makes exploring the effected planets annoying and ugly.

Black Market modules should boost a stat higher than an S-rank module while also negatively reducing another stat. [Discussion]

Imagine making a cool-looking Hauler into an actual warship because you sacrificed some of your hyperdrive range for maneuverability. Imagine making a Shuttle into the fastest smuggling ship in the galaxy by trading off damage/shields for speed/hyperdrive range.

Obviously these ships would never compete with dedicated existing ship types - a warship Hauler would still never reach the combat potential of a well built Fighter but they might reach the base combat stats of an S-rank one at the cost of their range/etc. allowing players to still min/max their ship building but also have the ability to "soft-respec" their ship class at the expense of other aspects.

As of right now X-rank modules are more of just a currency sink in hopes of rolling a usable one instead of an actual "aftermarket upgrade" that they're portrayed to be.

Hello! I’ve made a similar thread in the past, but from what I understand there has been some updates:

So I have a ps4 pro, and remember the gaming being slightly choppy. Have the recent updates helped the smoothness of the game? Additionally with the popularity of the galactic hub and what I think pvp, is there all out wars between player groups over territory? What about first person walks in 0 G. Is this a thing yet?

I’ve always had this vision of landing on a player built station only to have to fight my way out by blowing up a side of the station and having to jump out to get to my ship.

Any way I can avoid this glitch in the future? [Bug]

I haven't touched the game since 2018, but the recent updates have made me want to give it a try again. I hopped in today and played for several hours. A little while ago, I encountered some pirates who were attacking a fleet. I fought them off, then I landed in the capital ship. When I exited my ship, I tried to run in a direction, but was met with an invisible wall. The wall kept pushing me back, and long story short, I ended up trapped in a corner. Luckily my latest save was 10 minutes before, but it was before I had sold a lot of stuff, so it was kind of frustrating.

Is this a common glitch when entering a capital ship? What can I do to prevent this in the future?

Need help finding a certain freighter. [Question]

Hello, I’m having some trouble finding a dreadnought freighter and I’m not sure if I’m doing anything wrong.

I’ve tried teleporting to systems where people have found dreadnoughts, and I see none, I’ve pulsed around in 3 star economy systems, and I’ve found none.

I’ve found around 3 venators, but not a single dreadnought. Is there anything I need to know to have a better chance, or am I doing something wrong?

Help testing Xbox Ctlr Mod [Question]

"No Man's Sky Deviant High Precision"

STEAM # I get the gist that the community controller configs are by design to be disadvantageous against newer works, since the first person to post one usually gets the most downloads and better views.

So I modified the Official build and made minor tweaks to the precision as I knew the aiming was jerky and impossible to hit small moving targets without autolock enabled--I prefer using skill rather than use the game aim bot.

There's a couple of other small tweaks to improve quality of life like holding X to land your spacecraft--I kept on landing by accident during pirate raids. Moving the cursor has been relaxed instead of a static ramp which caused the jerky movements.

♣ So my ask is, can anyone find my mod if they look in the community tab and see if it's available or is it just buried beneath the top mods and unable to be found unless friended.♣

How to revisit system in another galaxy? [Question]

A while ago now, I finished the Atlas storyline and visited a few systems in another galaxy. I eventually went back to do some stuff at a base or two in Euclid by going through a portal in a space station. I'm not sure whether I made a base in the new galaxy or not, but I'd like to return to do some exploring. I assume I can just portal back to the space stations I've already visited, but I can't for the life of me find a way to see in advance what galaxy I'll be portaling to. I also can't find the galaxy for a given system in my discoveries tab. Short of visiting every last known system in turn until I find one in the proper galaxy, is there a way for me to easily return?

Frigate mission bug. [Bug]

Having an issue where I sent two of my frigates on separate 1 hour missions. I decided to check in some time later, and now it says they have 395 hours until completion. Is there any way to fix this issue? Only thing I've found is completely dismissing the frigates from my fleet, but I'd rather not do that unless I have to.

A ship-lema [Question]

So, I have maybe 40ish hours in no mans sky, I've been cruising around with a ship that I have really taken a liking to. I was flying through space and a freighter just spawns in front of me. I figure, why not and board the freighter. I found a ship on the freighter that I like and i ended up buying it outright, however it is not my freighter and now I have 2 ships on this freighter, one that I really like and has nice upgrades and another that I just got.. is there a way to get both ships off the freighter or am i just gonna lose one?

Tldr: newb buys ship in freighter, doesn't want either ship to disappear and needs help

Derelict Freighter Missions Crashing Game (PC) [Bug]

I'm getting this right now 50-67% of the time with derelict freighter missions- I'll be usually pretty far in, and at some point I'll clip and find myself stuck in a 1st person perspective, and then the game crashes so hard I have to kill it via task manager. I've been incredibly hesitant to do the derelict freighter runs as a result, which is a pain because it's otherwise very hard to get salvaged frigate modules.

Anybody else having this issue? I've seen mention for PS5, but nothing really for PC. If so, has anybody found any things to look out for, or workarounds?

Xbox Controller Disconnect Stuck [Bug]

Found a good way to fight sentinels [Information]

I'm going to manufacturing buildings and found if I can get the drones in there they do no harm to me.

So can shoot and kill as needed.

If things go wrong you hang out till their timer goes to zero.

Was also shooting from the door on the bigger ones which was fun.

Sentinel Bug [Bug]

So I'm playing NMS the 3rd day after I buy the game right? I stumble across a settlement, and it's like hey you can become the overseer and make some money and I'm here thinking that's all cool and everything so I do it. I spend about an hour exploring and suddenly it gets attacked by sentinels. So I go back to my settlement, kill the 8 or so that were there, and then more spawn, and I repeat that about 5-6 times and figure there's probably no end to them. But I got a sentinel boundary map so I check that out, and go there and disable the sentinels, thinking my problem is over, I head back to my settlement and a massive swarm of sentinels spawn there and completely tank my fps. Pretty sure I'm gonna have to abandon this settlement.

Help! All portals go to same world [Bug]

Hey guys,

I'm having a problem where no matter what portal address I enter, it takes me to a world called Anfra. I cannot summon my ship or open a build menu and the planet is dead. Despite listing active sentinels, I can't make any spawn or do anything. I'm in Euclid. Can anyone tell me what is going on and why this is happening? Makes it really hard to play the game.

If it matters, I took a break from the game for year or so and am just coming back.

I played at launch and am planning on playing again. A few questions: [Discussion]

I got this game at launch and played for about six weeks. I enjoyed it, but life and other games happened, and I haven’t played since. With summer coming up, I’ll have time on my hands and was planning on coming back to No Man’s Sky. However, as I understand it, the game has changed a ton since I last played. So I was wondering:

Should I pick up where I left off or start over with the updated version? I don’t remember what exactly I did when I played last, but I didn’t know if there was some kind of advantage to starting over again.

What are some of the big things that have been added/changed since launch? What are your favorite things? I’ve tried reading up on changes, but all I find are articles about individual recent updates. So figured I’d just see what you guys’ favorite changes are.

Random Pirate Attacks? [Question]

Hello, so i've been playing the game for a few weeks, fairly new still. So I was on an exploration and just as I was satisfied with the amount of materials i garthered (Which were a lot) I randomly get attacked, on the ground, far away from any settlement or point of interest, i die within seconds, losing everything that wasn't on my cargo slots... wtf? how do i escape/beat that shit? I would love lairs with boss fights [Suggestion]

I've been loving the game for quite awhile now and ive loved everything the devs have added, but If I could add one thing It would be lairs with boss fights. This can be generated into extreme worlds in lots of different ways, but the basic idea is you can either just find one normally or get a quest for locate a mega creatures lair on a world, they could be either hidden inbetween mountains, specific parts of the ocean or in underground caves. They'd have a randomly generated boss creature with each generated limb giving it a different type of attack such as if it has claws it can slash, if it has wings it can fly and swoop and if it has firebreath lungs, well you get the idea.

I really want this as it would be a fun thing to do with friends encourage teamwork aswell as encouraging you to explore planets more to find them. Since it's contained to a lair if you find one, you can just leave it and decide to come back later at your own pace. I also thought maybe you can get its head from killing it, like a trophy since each one is randomly generated their heads would be too.

But this is just my idea and would like to hear if you guys either agree or had some ideas for it or even disagree, Ill try to reply to every comment!

I don’t know much yet about pets and I’m new to freighters.

I don’t know if it exists yet but it sure would be neat if you could bring pet fauna and also flora onto freighters.

That way you can have your favorites travel with you as you explore the universe.

Then you can showcase them to friends.

Imagine a fenced off area in a freight room where you can ride them around.

Started the game yesterday and may have messed up badly. [Question]

Had the game installed on my Xbox for a while but due to GCSEs and then A-levels, I didn't really have much time to play. Yesterday was the first time I played it and I may have made what looks like an irreversible mistake unless I'm missing smtg. So in the Awakenings Starting Mission, before the space station bit, I deleted my base thinking I wouldn't rlly need it for now and can settle on a more player populated planet. So now I'm stuck where it says return to your base computer to decipher the message received on the space station, I've tried to exit via my ship but it won't even take off, no fuel issues. What do I do?

Base computer archives -Stuck at 15% investigation [Bug]

So, I'm far from a 'base builder' and I don't do much with them, but it seems I'm having a problem I've never had before till today/tonight. I set down a base computer and the questline for "base computer archives" popped up and it gave me the two options of download data and search or something along those lines. I never had this quest selected and didn't plan to because I only make 'bases' to just teleport to specific areas. However when I do either of those options the same dialog for both options permanently repeats until I force close the game. I can't upload bases or rename or do anything with the base computer as it just keeps repeating these two options and i'm not sure why or how to fix this issue?

So far I've tried having the quest selected and interacting with the computer, and also tried relogging and turning off multiplayer but those didn't work. I'm gonna try other/ different planets to see if it does the same also.

This player base is something else [Discussion]

Just started because I heard this game improved since the disaster of a launch, and it certainly has. Been having a lot of fun and called in the multiplayer lobby. Hit up the "Need money" emote and went to walk around, after crafting something, a notification comes up that a random dude donated fat stacks (200k or so worth of stuff) and walked off when I was still in the crafting menu. Really a break from other multiplayer games where it's all just competitive.

I have put a few hundreds of hours into Ark and loved every minute of it. My question is how does NMS compare to Ark? Is there a ton of grinding ? Is there a little or a lot of automation at all?

Don't continue playing the game after you put your computer to sleep [Information]

I learned this the hard way. The first time this happened is I went out for lunch and put my PC to sleep mode. After I came back, I started playing again for 7-8 hours I think. The next day, I was surprised that I lost my progress after I had lunch. The following day, I went out for dinner and as usual, put my PC to sleep. I've played for around 5 hours and decided to call it a day. I've entered/exited my ship a couple of times to trigger the autosave and even manually saved it. But to my surprise, the date and time recorded are not my current time. I've tried auto-saving/manual saving again and again but there was no change.

I just got Artemis Quest after my expedition 6 save turned into a normal save [Information]

I flew into a blue uncharted system and got the signal some seconds after my arrival in space. this game needs an hybrid mode [Suggestion]

That may sounds controversial, but let me explain. I don't like (and don't have time) sinking thousands of hours grinding ressource (the main reason why I stopped another famous space game). I enjoy dangerous fights and extreme conditions in this game, as much as I love exploration and building.

Basically, I need a custom mode. Creative mode but with danger and permadeath.

That could be interesting to customise mode (but without any achievements of course).

That may sounds unpopular, but grinding in normal feels too long for me, and creative lacks danger.

I absolutely love this game, so there's nothing negative here.

A few new questions [Question]

Just started playing the game and I think I’ll be playing it for a while but I do have some noob questions. I just built a temporary base on the first planet that the game sends me to after I get my ship running. Am I stuck on that planet or does the game take me to other planets and it if not how do I go about finding other planets that I wanna visit in the early game? How do you guys determine what materials you need because I’m assuming that’s the kind of planet you’re going to be looking for with those materials. Also is it mandatory that I build a base on each planet that I go to? Sorry for the questions if they’re a little redundant but being new to the game I’m a little confused any help would be greatly appreciated.

Large ships???????? [Discussion]

I had this idea that I thought was awesome. So it’s big Star ships about the size of the millennium falcon or something like that or bigger and we can land one smaller ship on it big the big one will be a “travel” ship. It can go in the atmosphere but can’t land so you will need your small ship for that. But you can walk around it and customize it to your liking maybe more cannons or more storage. Aircraft Carrier Vehicle [Suggestion]

I was thinking about this new update to be revealed soon, and considering some code relating to the oceans were tampered with I'm going to bet it's another ocean revamp

So I have been speculating about what could be in this update, probably water textures remade, maybe rivers, bigger creatures, deeper water, entire water planets. It could be any of this stuff

Eventually my speculations became less reasonable, things like pirate boats, new island generation, even possible water physics.

By now my specualtions have become pure ideas, things that I know are not going to make the update but are purely fun to think about.

One of these ideas was a boat exocraft. Sounds cool but in reality probably has no use. So what if I go bigger? An aircraft carrier.

What I was thinking is like something in-between a freighter and an exocraft, something maybe the size of the interior of a freighter.

You would be able to summon your carrier when close enough to a deepish body of water.

You would get a carrier similar to how you get freighters, either find an NPC cruising or save one from pirates attacking

The carrier acts as a water freighter, and can help with previous issues

Land on an island and can't find di hydrogen to get off? Summon your carrier, your other ships are on it, or you can drive it around

Want to repair a ship that you can't get off your freighter? Summon the carrier

If in this update entire water worlds are added it would act as a place to summon your ship of travel above the seas

On the carrier there are 4 rooms:

Control room:

Allows you to cruise across the seas

Allows you to install guns like the ones on freighters, to protect you from surprise pirate attacks

Similar layout to a freighter

Main rooms:

Just like the buildable part of a freighter, can decorate and add rooms however you need

Landing pad:

I just finished my base on a beautiful planet, then noticed a worm likes to tunnel and leap through the ground in this area. shakes the entire screen/building. my question is, if he happens to leap out of the ground, or tunnel back into the ground on my base, will it damage anything? should i just give up that base and find another? i really dont want to periodically rebuild my base because of worms DX

I love the wood aesthetic from the Gek system and I've got a pretty decent starting town with 71 citizens. The planet while dangerous with plenty of firestorms and freezing temperatures seems like the ideal place for a sort of "rough and tumble" town

It would make sense to have an actual bar and not a dance club in the middle of the town.

Solo experience [Question]

I'm debating if I should buy the game or not. I've played Minecraft, Starbound, and I just come from getting bored from Albion online after two days. The point here is that I always plaed these games alone, and with my lack of creativity or finding my own purpose I quickly got bored. I know it's perfectly possible to play No man's without online, but is there an actual point to it? Is there some big objective to aim for or is it simple a very big sandbox that's enjoyed better with friends?

No Man's Sky has the perfect foundation to continue expanding on existing content in future updates. [Discussion]

This game is a great experience as you zip from planet to planet looking at the different biomes and searching for your perfect ship. However, the main thing the game lacks is "true" player involvement. Sure, you can build an incredible looking base on a paradise planet but other than taking photos it serves little purpose - the base ends up being more of a dollhouse since there's really no world interaction with it.

The settlement update was a fantastic addition to give the player more agency with the universe even if it's not executed perfectly. Giving the player more reasons to partake in existing mechanics would go a long way to help flesh out the game part of No Man's Sky. With that said, why not extend the same passion to some of the existing mechanics:

Black Market Upgrades - The in-game description makes these seem like they're volatile and potentially dangerous but useful upgrades for your ship/tool but in reality they're a simple stat-roll hoping for an ultimately insignificant upgrade over an S-rank module. Why not overhaul these to be sought after by giving them tremendous positives and drawbacks:

Give X-rank modules an actual gameplay purpose - For example, an X-rank pulse module could give a huge boost to maneuverability at the expense of hyperdrive range/shielding. Now someone using a Hauler-class ship can make a sort of "lite-warship" at the expense of not being able to travel as far. These could also extend to existing weapons/upgrades:

X-Rank Photon Cannon modules could greatly increase the fire-rate while reducing the maximum heat and at the cost of dealing self-shield damage while overheating.

X-Rank Rocket Launcher modules could lock-on to enemy ships and recharge faster at the cost of firing one rocket instead of three.

X-Rank Warp modules could greatly extend hyperdrive...

New update [Discussion]

Looks promising for us that want the general variety on planets expanded. In fact the only content I want to see now is in the form of biomes and making this vast sea deeper than a puddle. There's still so many planet types and variations HG's could still add that'd enhance the experience so much. Creatures haven't even been touched through an update since NEXT they could be so much better too. Those E3 trailers still show much more of exotic feel.

Titan Worms; add to the main game? [Suggestion]

I'm hoping we get Titan Wormholes added to the main game; these were bosses only in one of the Expeditions.

Honestly I'd love "Anomalous Boss Lairs" where ANY random creature could spawn, but be like SUPERSIZED; very strong & aggressive, and hides awesome treasure. (there could be Boss Lair Maps we could find to help find them)

This would really add to the Exploration part of the game :D

Make Money Fast, over 600M+ in an hour [Information]

All you need is the following Ship with hyperdrive Outlaw system Base (preferred but not needed) First go to the outlaw system, talk to the bounty giver and take/abandon quests through the quest giver menu till you get one to deliver contraband goods (i prefer relics as they sell for the most). After accepting the quest wait for the contraband good to be added to your inventory. Abandon the quest THROUGH THE LOG WINDOW Repeat the stems and get unlimited contraband goods for free. Go to any system and sell the goods (either fly there or teleport to your base then to any space station and sell).

When you abandon the quest through the log window, the quest will still be there so you can repeat the process an infinite amount of times. I have made 100M units in less than 10 minutes.

What would you like to see in a major ship/freighter update? [Suggestion]

Considering the recent Outlaws update, as well as the mysterious 🐋 tweet from Sean, I thought it would be a good idea to ask this question: what would you guys like to see in a ship/freighter focussed update?

For me, I’d love to see some of these things included…

TL;DR: ability to customise ship parts, ability to customise ship livery, option to purchase/hire freighters to join your fleet (along with increased owned ship slots), ability to customise freighter parts/livery, increased amount of squadrons you can command for different purposes (combat, exploration, trading, smuggling, etc).

Ships:

I’d love the ability to customise your ship parts to some degree. I’ve seen some people complain that ship customisation will take away a large aspect of the ship part of the game which is ship hunting, and that’s a valid complaint. However, I’ve also seen the idea float around for a bit that you have to actually find a ship with the components you want before you can use those parts to customise your ship. Components you receive are either damaged or at a tier level. The highest tier component is limited to the same tier as the ship, so a B tier ship will only have B tier components and lower, etc. Perhaps you can have the option to destroy, shoot off, hijack or purchase the ship to acquire the parts. These are the details for each method:

Destroying: Destroying the ship will result in you getting most parts, but the explosion will result in the components you do get always being damaged (unusable) or C tier. When you receive a component, you can choose to either break it down into base elements or take that part to an outfitting station where you can learn to outfit it to any ship, kind of like a blueprint but reverse-engineering.

Is there any way I can figure out EXACTLY where the objective is? [Question]

I'm doing the main quest, and I've reached a point where I need to find a holo-terminus. It's one of those where you need to use your visor and follow it. Unfortunately, the objective is on a planet that has these super deep canyons and super high mountains, which is incredibly difficult to navigate without my ship. It's starting to become a real pain to find this thing, even following my visor. Is there a setting or something I can change that will tell me exactly where to go? I haven't had an issue with these types of missions yet, but it is so hard to find the thing on this planet.

Concerning HelloGames and the quantity and quality of their post launch support for No Man's Sky [Discussion]

Please do not hold other publishers or developers to this level of free post launch updates. While I do other publishers and developers can definitely do better with post launch service, you have to understand HelloGames is a very unique situation.

They were, and still are, a very small developer. The hype levels were unreal for the game leading up to launch. As a result, the game sold tremendously well. One of the most anticipated games of the year, well.

Now, when a game sells that well, there's usually a massive publisher or company to split that revenue with... and while Sony was involved in some way, that still leaves a metric fuck ton of money to a very very small team.

Their studio was now funded for years if not decades. They don't need a constant influx of revenue because their costs are so low compared to other games that made that amount of money. This has bascially allowed their team to continue passionately coming up with whatever they want for No Man's Sky and other side projects.

It's probably a pretty laid back environment fueled mostly by excitement of working on cool shit. There's probably little if no deadlines (bug fixing not withstanding.) And they probably have a lot of freedom to fool around with stuff to come up with new ideas.

Other developers and publishers are not anywhere close to this situation. There are other examples that are close, sure. Usually other indie titles like Minecraft, but we can not expect other companies to offer this amount of free content for years post launch. It's just not sustainable for most of the industry and you need to have some sort of continued revenue to keep people paid.

Again, not saying greed doesn't exist. It does. But at the end of the day, you need influx of money to keep operations going, and with larger studios, you need a lot...

Infinite Sentinels spawning at my settlement. [Bug]

So, I took a break from the game for around 3 months. I decided to warp back to my settlement via space station teleporter today, and once I got there I noticed a wave of sentinels, including a mech. I cleared them out, but they spawned almost immediately again. So I cleared them out again, and again and again. But they just kept coming. They do not stop spawning. My sentinel alert is at 0 percent as well. Has anyone else encountered this, and does anyone have a fix? I can not do anything at my settlement.

Infinite Improbability Drive [Suggestion]

The whale has me thinking. An Improbability drive technology blueprint could be a really cool additional. When used, completely randomises your ship/freighter/multitool model. Fun alternative to ship hunting, maybe it would need very rare or complicated fuel to recharge.

Yes, yes, another of these posts, please forgive my trespass. But with all the discussion of ocean overhauls, literal star whales, and living freighters, I think there's something more to the 🐋 teaser. What sprung to my head was the word "leviathan," and that word's association with... the concept of the abyss. I'm playing a little game of telephone here, sure, but is it really such a stretch to imagine this next update will bring us more information on the elusive "Abyss" entity? The one who seems diametrically opposed to the Atlas? I have a feeling we may soon get more of the world's hidden story, especially given the clues from the last few updates.

Smuggling and Nanites [Question]

Coming back to the game after a long hiatus. I've looked into farming Nanites and have a couple of successful encounters against sentinels.

My question may be related to smuggling, as after my last encounter, I went to sell my various questionable goods and only had a couple of items left in my inventory after I landed on the space station. I am guessing that all my other items I got from breaking down my sentinel glass were 'confiscated' upon docking in the station?

If I have my freighter in the system and use it to teleport those items after I have landed, will I be able to sell more of them and not have them disappear on me?

I've been collecting and selling gravitino balls, and it seems like a pretty efficient way to earn money, with around 5 mil per inventory plus another 5-6 mil for my ship inventory. However, I've been doing this every time I've needed money since I started playing the game, and it's got me wondering if I'm missing a better way.

Moving upgrades to a new ship [Question]

So I have been reading up on this and I understand you cant transfer over upgrades on ships, only dismantle and then re-craft them.

But I cant find an answer on this: I bought some ship upgrades at the Anomaly and there was some really cool handy stuff for my current ship on there.

But if I would want to upgrade to another ship: Do I still have the option to re-craft those upgrades I bought with Nanites at the Anomaly, like they are blueprints in a sense, or should I be careful with putting those upgrades willy nilly on a ship?

Should I bother upgrading the storage on my ship? [Question]

Hi, there. I'm new to the game. I've got a little over 20 hours in, but I'm taking things slow. I'm still flying around in my starter ship (Radiant Pillar BC-1) but I'd really like to get some more storage. At the starship upgrade terminal in the space stations, I can upgrade my storage for 4,000,000 units. I was saving up for that for a long time, but now that I have the money, I'm not sure if I should do it.

What I can't figure out is how much extra storage space that upgrade is going to give me. The exosuit upgrades only give one slot at a time. If I spend 4 million units on my ship and end up with only one extra storage slot, I might just break my laptop in half. And I'd rather not do that.

Should I upgrade my starter ship, or just keep an eye out for better ships on my travels?

Been playing for a couple of weeks but haven’t been doing the nexus missions because I thought they’d be difficult. I’m playing catch up now but won’t have enough QS to start starbirth for a while.

Is it too late to start the game? I bought back in August 2016 when it first released and was completely underwhelmed and turned off. Now 6 years later I hear its amazing, but it seems like so much stuff was added that I would be completely lost, is there any truth to that or do I have hope? Please let me know what you think. In a single play sesh today 3 separate freighters reported taking damage so I called them back. It didn't say how they were damaged tho. I send plenty of ships on missions so that it's easy for them but idk why this keeps happening. Thoughts?

Populate a planet [Build]

Hello everyone! I’ve been playing the game for a while. Finished the main story line. Collected cool ships, built some bases. I love this game! What I’m missing is one thing. We need (as a community) to truly populate a planet. Build cities, roads, bridges etc. I’m not the best at building pretty things. But I’ve seen people build unique structures. I’m sure we have people that are passionate about building. Why haven’t we done something like that already, or maybe we did and I just never discovered it.

Finding the right ship [Bug]

I cave, I give up, I've searched for hours on end, and have almost 200 storage augmentations from searching. I need help.

Shortly after the Outlaws update, I stumbled upon the perfect ship that matched my freighter, and all of the parts that I liked.

The hex sails (in blue),

The Jackal body,

(I'd prefer the double blade wings, but I was happy with Razor),

Tri-star tips,

all of this in a red and black pattern that matched my freighter.

But I accidentally caused a bug to change my ships internals to match my living ship, causing it to break said ship, and lost it.

If anyone has advice as to how to find the right ship, or has one to trade, I'm open to suggestions.

I just want my ship back, so I can have my fleet looking right.

I have a ton of S class upgrades, as well as the storage augmentations.

A Non-Combat Method to Farming Salvaged Glass [Discussion]

At one point I was terrified of fighting the new sentinels, but I found a neat trick: if you rush the sentinel pillar by ignoring the sentinels, breaking the 3 nodes, and immediately shutting off the terminal, it disables Sentinel spawns, as the game advertises.

The trick is that certain buildings still spawn Sentinels, but they immediately die when they appear. However, they still leave behind their drops. If you scan for Item Depots using an exocraft, you can always get a green supplies canister and (at least on the world I tested this on) a hardframe engine without having to fight. On a world with salvageable scrap, all the corrupted sentinels that can spawn when breaking the casings will also immediately die and drop their supplies, ranging from 1-4 from what I’ve seen.

It does take a bit of time, having to scan, fly over, collect, and repeat, but using this method I collected 60 Salvaged Glass without fighting a single Sentinel. It’s a great way to get free upgrades and resources.

Why does every start have to be a chore? [Question]

I'm not talking about fixing ship so you can leave and explore. That's a nice setup to learning game.

No I mean why is it every game I start it is always some hostile planet with severe lack of resources you need for suit.

Which are a pain to find since it takes 20 minutes for your scanner to recharge.

What's the harm about starting on a somewhat chill planet? Learn about it as you go instead of making entire start about dying, respawning, and making dash for next objective hoping there is some Sodium between ship and objective.

Gene splitter and breeding creatures [Question]

So I can't find this mentioned in any guides and I want to know if I'm messing up or not. Forget colours and sizes and things I'm only talking about appearance So I get creatures egg, overdose it and no matter how many eggs I hatch they will always look the same, and if I breed creature and overdose it, it will go back to looking like it's grandparents. Certain traits always become certain other traits like the dog head always becoming a feline head in all my experiments and I can't find a guide on which features become which when overdosed. Not overdosing seems to have minimal impact and isn't worth it. Am I correct in this? If so breeding is pointless for my purposes cause I'll never get the perfect creature that way and will need to find it wild. Unless there's a guide to what parts become what.

Ground not loading coming in on planets. [Question]

Everytime I come in somewhat fast on planets I can't land for another 5-15 seconds since the ground doesn't get loaded fast enough. Almost everytime the ship glitches through the floor for a few meters, plants, building etc. are floating in the air.

Is this a PS4 or console problem? Does the same happen on PC?

Received a Quad Egg and Sandworm Egg that might be fake? [Question]

Hello!

I recently received a couple of eggs from expeditions into my inventory while on the Space Anomaly and was excited to hatch them. However, after watching several videos on Youtube and watching guides of the expedition playthrough I am having absolutely no luck whatsoever getting these eggs to hatch. I can't even really interact with them in my inventory besides shuffling them around. I went to the egg sequencer on the anomaly to see if I could put either egg inside but they do not appear as options. Are these fake or glitched eggs just to get my hopes up and waste my time?

I really hope that I'm just a moron and somebody could enlighten me to the real answer on hatching these eggs and I mess around with broken items as a trick.

Yo, I am a gd pirate. I refused your comms request, but you continue with the hostile ship count. I don't care. I'm a f'ing pirate! [Suggestion]

I refuse their help, but I continue to get spammed with the annoying comms sound. I tried reloading, autosave and manual save; they don't get the hint..

Why? Why? It's very annoying. I'm a ship hunter/pirate. I could care less what happens to these freighters. I denied/refused to help them. Why don't they get the frakkin' hint?

I even decided to join the raid on the freighter. Destroy it. Reload. Oh, it's magically put back to frakkin' gether, oh and i get spammed with help request again.. B - i just destroyed your ass. get the frakkin' hint

Yes, it's frustrating. Just venting a little. I was more colorful in-game...

So, in sum: If a player refuses to help a freighter.. they should no longer get comms annoying spam. And stop making it to where the freighter battles are tied to trading post spawn. Ships land like normal upon initial approach; but reloading autosave keeps them from coming again... so I have to go back into orbit, refuse the frakkin' freighter again, and spam for new trading post. This is so dumb.

Feature suggestion: Ability to teleport to your freighter if it is in orbit of your current planet, or if it's position has not changed since you last teleported from it. [Suggestion]

Okay. So just hear me out. I know the portal/teleporter network is co-ordinates based, so a moving base can't logically work. BUT. When you call your freighter in from planetside, that surely would be "co-ordinate based" as well. And we have the technology to create new teleporter locations, effectively injecting a new set of coordinates into the "system" so there's no reason this wouldn't work.

Same goes for the previous location you teleported 'from' your freighter. Provided the co-ordinates you came from haven't changed, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to return there.

I know similar things to this have probably been posted before. Just something that popped into my head.

Freighter VS Capital Ship Question [Question]

Greetings,

So I am confused. Can an S class freighter have the same amount of inventory slots when maxed out on inventory upgrades as an S class capital ship? Or will the capital ship always have superior inventory? I ask because I want a freighter with a Enterprise style Saucer, but don't want to compromise my inventory space I have if I lose stats. Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance!
