my ship and about 100 million credits disappeared [Question]

I got on today and saw that my solar ship that is my main is gone and my credits went from 108 mils to 30 mils, I know this isn't an earlier save as my main quest is done, and I have access to the green galaxy. IDK what to do, it would be easy to get the money back but my ship and a bunch of other stuff I had are gone even though they were there when I got off last night.

About Ships [Question]

Visual Will a ship upgraded from A class to S class with Nanites look the same as it’s natural S class counterpart ? Or will it still have the visual wear and tear that it had before ? (Or maybe it’s just me who thinks I see a difference !) Stats And would an upgraded A class to S roll lower stats than a Natural S !?

Need MORE allowed Ships, not just 9 max [Discussion]

I personally feel like we need to be able to hold more ships. I have the squid, a ball hauler, fan wing hauler, a solar ship, my perfect exotic, a cool 5 wing blue ship, yellow thruster guppy, I’m about to get my living ship and another hauler, but I want more ships that are cool. Plenty of times it’s honestly just to grab a solar ship that flies in to the sub station to see what type of color wings it has. If only the “Salvage Ship” area actually showed the color of the wings. Y’all know it does the type but you can’t tell the color. I feel like we need to be allowed to hold more ships.

Base building ideas? [Build]

I’ve been playing No Mans Sky since before the Next update and I haven’t actually built a base at all since I have everything on my freighter and I’ve been struggling to build a base like I have no issue building the structure itself but filling it is a pain since I’m not as creative, can someone give me ideas for decorative rooms, and idea for actual functioning stuff, and I’ll figure out how to piece it together just need idea.

Monoliths no longer locate portals? [Question]

Out of the loop for a bit, but been playing again lately. Do monoliths not allow you to locate portals anymore? I keep going to monoliths and not getting the option. If so, how do you find them? All guides still seem to say that you find them with monoliths but it doesn't give me that option. Also, my planetary charts NEVER locate monoliths anymore, I have to find them other ways. Did this get changed as well?

Settlements question (noob) [Question]

So I’m around 70 hours into NMS and a few days ago I was given a settlement chart and I’ve been building and progressing it ever since. Little did I know I could actually buy a chart and use it on the planet of my choice.

I’ve spent a few days or so upgrading it and recruiting people, if I was to use a chart on my preferred planet what would happen to the 1st one? Do I get to keep my progression and it warps to the new planet or do I have to start all over again?

Game Stutters When Running OBS [Question]

Hi, pretty much the title. I've test the game a few times off stream and it runs perfectly fine completely maxed out on all settings. I have a PC that is more than capable of running 90% of games and streaming. Below are my specs. From what I understand this game can have performance issues, but is there anything specifically about OBS that is causing issues maybe or anything I'm just not finding? Thank you!

My first settlement got attacked by a thousand sentinels [Bug]

So I just started my first settlement. After half hour it got attacked by some sentinels, which then I went to defend and actually defeated them all, only for the same sentinel group spawn again (around 11 with a big biped robot among them). So I defeated them again and again (the same 11 sentinel wave), until I got tired and went out of the planet through my portal. I went back two hours later to see if it was over and was greeted by this strange red circle which turned out to be more than a thousand sentinels (as shown in the clip).

So I was able to escape from that, but I went back to it again after another hour and once I got close to the settlement my game froze and crashed. I guess my settlement is doomed and my people are now living the actual skynet takeover.

Is there anything that be done? This can't be normal, and I bet this isn't good for the servers either

erm....medium refiner bug [Bug]

threw in silver gold and indium to get some chromatic metal. looking at the refiner it said it was 33% done...wanted to grab some to start building but when I "opened" the refiner everything vanished.....ingredients and end product.... they are not in any of my storage.... anyone else have this happen to them? watch out if you try to craft this recipe (not sure if its exclusively tied to this combination or a general refiner bug)

Why Can't I Recruit A 2nd Gek Pilot For Squadron? [Question]

I have 1 Korvax, Gek, and Vy'keen but whenever I try to recruit a 2nd Gek in a different Space Station it doesn't give me the option to Recruit. I am giving them a Exotic orange squid ship and then trying to Recruit them, does that effect anything? Before anyone ask I have all 4 Squadron slots bought.

Framedrops [Question]

Hello travellers!

As the title suggests I get frequent framedrops no matter where I am especially when flying over planets (which makes sense I guess).

Can you recommend any changes to settings that might help with this? Probably like turning Shadows to Low etc.

The game by default had everything on highest settings as I do run a 3070 gpu, but admittedly my cpu/motherboard are a bit old.

Game Crashes Upon Launch - Please Help! [Bug]

So, I've played No Man's Sky for quite a while on my old Xbox One S, but with new updates being substantially more demanding on hardware, my poor last-gen console can no longer run the game without abysmal framerates and extreme lag. So, I decided to get the game for my gaming laptop, and since I have Xbox Game Pass, I was able to install it for free through the PC Xbox app.

However, once I downloaded the game, I kept running into an issue where, upon launching the game, the Hello Games logo would appear without any sound accompanying it, and the game would crash after five to 30 seconds. I tried exhaustively to fix this - I tried running it as an administrator, I used the "Verify and Repair" option, I uninstalled and reinstalled the game three times, I updated my OS and checked for updates on my graphics drivers, and I made sure that my antivirus wasn't flagging anything. No matter what I did, I'd always get that same result.

I'm writing this post largely out of sheer desperation, because every prior thread I came across, every online resource I discovered, and all my ingenuity and problem-solving abilities have all failed me. Please, tell me what I can do to finally launch this game.,

Also, for some background on my laptop itself: it's a Lenovo Ideapad 3 Gaming 15 with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H processor, 16GB of RAM, 500GB of internal storage (about 1/3 is still available), and a NVIDIA GeForce 1650 GTX graphics card. I got it about 6 months ago, and it still generally runs great.

Does anyone else feel like the freighters need more love? [Discussion]

Since their welcomed arrival into the game, the freighters have had one change to the base building in them and IMHO it wasn't for the better.

Originally, the freighters used the same small base parts as planetary base building which allowed for far more creativity and room for personalisation than the current system.

Why can't we have higher ceilings, indoor balconies or even doors and windows!? I would love to look over a farm from a higher deck. Glass floors and light up ones would be amazing! Set up medical bays that you can look in at through a window. Have locked doors that keep treasure inside.

Why is it that the only way for us to differentiate compartments is just by putting up stickers everywhere?

The planetary base building has so much variety, meanwhile the freighter base building has roughly 30 parts total which is very limiting.

What's the general consensus? I never see anyone talking about them unless its how to get a Capital Freighter.

Me and my friends started playing a few days ago, already got the basics down with base building, crafting and finding salvage parts

Last main mission I did was finding and boarding the Anomaly

I’ve warped to 3 separate systems so far but I’m yet to actually build a main or proper base, just a basic 4x4 when I was completing those objectives

My question basically is should I just pick an early planet to settle on for now and smash out the main missions and upgrade everything I can

Trying to figure out what kind of loop or daily tasks I should be doing

A friend got this game recently, they haven't picked it up yet.

I want to play with him and help him out with the basics

How does this work exactly, does he just join and he "pops up" next to where I am? Or does he need to start his own game, get to the anomaly and we go from there?

If he saves, next time he loads is he still there let's say in my base?

I found a decent star system for him to get started on and it even has a few of my bases hence why I'm asking.

Could a more experienced player please let me know? I've been trying to look this up but I'm not finding any specific answers other than "to join just select this and play with friend!" Which is vague AF

I was able to reclaim the ship I just traded for free??? [Question]

I’m a newer player and I was at a space station and saw a ship I wanted, I had enough to trade for it, so I traded my base ship for it. I see them depart with my ship and then a second later they come back. I went over to them and sure enough it was my exact ship with my exact upgrades installed! Lol, I couldn’t believe it, I chose to trade for it and I could buy it for free, now I have my base ship and the new ship I got, has that happened to anyone else? Is it a bug? I just found it really bizarre lol

Still confused about multitool hunting… [Question]

Sorry to have to ask about this, I’ve watched and read several guides on MT hunting but there’s one part I’m still not understanding. I land on a planet, drop a save beacon, save, reload, fly to the space station, check the cabinet. It’s not what I’m after, so I reload the save beacon save, fly to the station, check the cabinet, and the MT is the same as before. I thought planets had a pool of MTs, so a different one from that planets pool would show up when I reload, but for all 6 planets in this system I only get one MT per planet, no matter how many times I save and reload on each planet. Am I doing something wrong? Or have I misunderstood the process? To clarify, I do get a different MT when I save and reload on a different planet, so at least that parts working. I hope I’ve explained myself well enough, apologies if not. Any help very much appreciated.

Can you keep more than one ship at your base? [Question]

I have somehow gotten 6 spaceships. I can recall all of them to my base at the same time. I've repaired all of them so they are fully functional, but when I leave my base and return, they are usually gone. I can recall them again, but I can't find a way to make them stay at my base. Is this possible?

Does equipped squadron weapons actaully matter besides the weapon stat going up? Doesn't matter what I install, it's always yellow photon cannon coming out of their ships. [Question]

Title. Pumped 4 ships to Max weapons, both base weapon installs and 6 s class upgrades, one with each type related to its themes (Phase Beam to recharge a Hauler's shield stuff like that) and a couple of ships with 2 fully upgraded weapons and yellow photon cannon is all that they shoot. Shoot!

Didn't board the freighter after the scripted battle for a free freighter. Did I miss out? [Question]

Hi! So I am relatively new to this game & have visited the Anomoly & been slowly going through the Artemis questline (not too far in I don't think?) after finding a nice little planet to have my starter base on.

After all this time I've been finally wondering when I'll come across my free freighter mission as I've seen people on talk about them on this sub so decided to google the questline for it so I'd know what to look out for..

Well turns out I definitely did it awhile ago, upto the point of helping a freighter during its space battle, getting invited to go on board by the caption, & then silly me couldn't figure out how to land on it/get inside so I just flew away lol I think at the time I just thought it was a randomised event & wasn't aware it was the actual event for the free freighter as I wasn't aware of the free freighter quest at the time. Have I lost my chance now?

Can I go back to that star system (might take awhile lol) & potentially find it & finally board it? Or will the event/quest ever trigger for me again so I can complete it? Any help appreciated thank you!

What additions could Hello Games add to makr NMS feel more Alive? [Discussion]

I am IN LOVE with the low-orbit frigates flying over top of me. It never ceases to stop me in my tracks and jumping into my ship and flying next to one just makes me happy. It makes me feel like there's an actual "world" going on around me, like the game is more "alive". That addition brings me back to when the visuals for weather changed to being able to see a storm growing over us as we hear the "Warning: Incoming storm" and the first time I saw clouds building up I just stopped and watched it happen.

So. What other relativley small changes could Hello Games add to make our beloved space sim feel more Alive?

Any ways to reduce the tedium of building managing a fleet? [Question]

Is there a way to know about a frigate other than talking to them? Clicking through a dozen C class frigates while flying around is getting annoying. I just want to find S classes to recruit. Is there some mechanic that will allow me to see the quality of all ships or do I just have to talk to them?

How do I avoid my frigates taking damage? Fixing damaged frigates has stopped being a non-stop thrill ride after like, the 30th time.

Switching Capital freighter ships, will I lose all of my storage? [Question]

During my Playthrough I took some advice and skipped the first freighter that was offered to me, the second one was a Capital ship so I farmed it to an S tier and was satisfied. Now I want to upgrade to a much larger looking S tier capital ship, will I lose all of my storage in my 10 storage rooms that I’ve built? Or does that transfer over when I switch?

It has fauna? It doesn't have fauna? Water? What!? [Question]

Ok this is a strange one. The image is just of the planet for identification purposes. I was trying to get a screenshot of my discovery tab or my analysis scanner readout but it apparently only takes screenshots of this view.

I can't verify that because now it has been discovered by me, today. It was the only planet already discovered when I entered this system. Discovery and scanner reveal this planets fauna as "empty" but the discovery also lists 5 fauna to find. 3 of these are flyers. 2 of these are underwater. I can't find water anywhere on this planet and I did dig around looking for it too. I haven't seen a single flying entity on my wanderings either. My fauna discovery here stands at 0/5.

CHAPTER SEVEN - The anomaly

I wake up in the middle of a deserted plain. The ground, where grass no longer grows, is covered with gray dust. Around me there are only sharp rocks and a blue sky covered with clouds. There is no trace of the plants that have accompanied me all the way. Maybe... Compostellar, the flying creatures, the crashed gek pilot... Maybe none of it was real. For an instant I feel relieved, for I will no longer have to keep walking. How stupid I was, how could I have believed that I was able to walk around an entire planet?

I activate the scanner of my multitool in order to find my ship. Beep beep. The scanner doesn't detect anything, I must not have hit it right. Beep beep. Nothing. Beep beep. I start to get nervous. Beep beep. No mineral deposits, no dihydrogen, no carbon, no oxygen. Beep beep. Nothing. It's as if there are no resources of any kind on this planet. Of course, neither is my ship. The sixth time I press the trigger of the scanner a voice booms across the plain.

I realize it's my own voice. It's me calling for help. But how? I didn't even pretend to speak.

Something explodes to my left. I cover my face with my arms because of the huge white glow that blinds me. A few seconds later another explosion, behind me. I fall hundreds of meters, into a shaft of light.

Then I wake up again. I am on the bunk, on the base I established the previous cycle. I look around me and the rocky walls of the interior of a Pillar look back at me. Outside the red grass is swaying in the wind. Flying creatures describe strange patterns in the sky. Everything is familiar to me.

I was looking on YouTube but surprisingly, there aren't a lot of videos of people showcasing their freighter base. I always see the same dozen or so. My method for traversing galaxies with minimal glyphs. [Information]

So I have been jumping galaxies for weeks and found the best method to get close to centre is using just the first three glyphs. When I want to get to centre I use maps to find monolith and portal. Then for address use 1st, 2nd then 3rd glyph. Repeat this four times and you'll always end up 12,000 lightyears from centre. Just a few jumps away from core. Rinse and repeat whenever you're done with a galaxy. Hope it helps.

Suppy and Demand [Discussion]

Has anybody else noticed that since recent updates there has been a significant reduction in the supply of goods at space stations? I build big and buy in bulk and I used to go to wealthy systems to buy my materials in stacks as big as 4500. Now those same space stations are only supplying me with 750? Is this intentional? Yes I can go harvest but I've been playing this game since release and at this point it's simply too much work for the amount of supplies I need. Follow up question, I'm finding myself particularly in a heavy need for gold. Is there another bulk supply source of this somewhere in the universe? Can I mine it? If so I will gladly build a mine as I already have a successful and flourishing silver mine.

Someone gave me 150 Salvaged Data (I'm new and still in the very early game). Spend or sell? [Question]

Some nice stranger maxed out my (small) inventory with Salvaged Data, about 156 total. I've only unlocked a few construction items so far... but I also only have about 1.5 million units so far. I'm a first time player, only on my second system, still have my starter ship & multi tool, etc.

Should I sell a ton and buy some new stuff, or will I regret not saving them to unlock everything later?

I don't mind them attacking me when I am flying around and when I am shooting asteroid's, I do in fact have valuable materials on me.

I don't mind them attacking the trade centers and secure facilities, that is what pirates would do.

But why oh why do they attack the abandoned facilities that I am farming for monstrosities when I am trying to complete "Kill X creatures" missions. What practical value is there is there in that?

I just spent my lunch break working on the third level of the expedition. It's the underwater stuff. Yes, NMS officially has an "underwater level".

Some people bent over backwards making things convenient for other players! A base with landing pads, nautilon pad, storage containers, etc, conveniently placed! Oh, a base near a ruin that you can land on and literally has stairs going toward the ruin so you can easily come back up!

Damn, people are nice in this game.

Settlement question [Question]

I have a smooth running settlement but now found a nice system where I might want to put a base on. As I thought it would be nice to have a settlement near my base, I looked around and finally used a chart to point me to a settlement on an "arid" planet in the system. How can I claim this one? I opened the settlement hub interface but when hitting the "submit management credentials", the settlement request was denied because of "insufficiant convergence alignment". I battled some sentinels and asked around, but nothing seems to trigger the claiming process. Is it even possible to get a new settlement? Also there's an unanswered quest in the old settlement. Should this be settled first?

General Gaming Communities vs No Man's Sky Community [Discussion]

First allow me to give you some brief background. I have been a gamer for longer than I'd like to admit. Let just say that I played Atari when it first came out, lol. I didn't connect with any online communities until the Playstation 3 came along. I have also played on PC primaril once I was old enough and employed enough to buy my first gaming rig.

I have participated in some MMO games, I have moderated forums and I had my own forum and website at one time.

I got away from all that because I found that forums, message boards, social media groups etcetera.. can be extremely toxic and full of malevolent people.

I have a thick skin but I'm also a human with a heart. It can be difficult at times to shake off some of the things people do and say. So, I unplugged and went back to hermit mode game play.

Then one day I saw an advertisement for a game in development - No Man's Sky. I followed the title for approximately 2 years before it released. I liked the sound of it. They originally designed it to have a very minimalistic multi player feature. You could possibly run into other players but we couldn't intact. Well, that was just my speed.

Of course multiplayer has drastically evolved since then and that's awesome for those who enjoy the full experience.

I still choose to keep "Public Multi player" turned off but I'm thrilled I am able to invite trusted friends to explore with me.

2016- No Man's Sky hits the shelves. I buy two copies. PC & Playstation.

People had their tantrums and also legitimate complaints. I continued to play as I was 80% certain that the developers would restructure the game to accommodate the player base more. I am glad that came to frustration.

Problems collecting radiant brain. [Question]

I'm to the point in the game where I need a radiant brain for the hardframe body installation, but I can't complete it because it says I need to collect the above mentioned item.

I collected a walker brain and took it to Tethys, but somewhere in the process of exchanging it, it seems to have been removed from my inventory and I don't have the radiant brain, meaning I can't complete the installation.

Now when I go back to Tethys, I just get the "Leave" prompt.

Is there something I'm missing here?

What weapons y'all using? [Question]

I run a fighter and am using the photon cannon with 3 S upgrades. I have a rocket launcher but tbh I never use it. I'd like to have a single ship weapon that can do it all when upgraded nicely.

I also run a single multitool with the boltcaster and shotgun with upgrades. I guess I have the geology cannon but should dump that to pick up a few more slots.

Doing the expedition and just one last goal before completing phase 2. Game tells me I need a combat scanner which needs a Walker brain. I took one down in my ship but interceptors showed up and I couldn’t land, by the time they were dealt with the damn item despawned. What are the odds of stumbling across a pirate sector with random jumps?

Expedition 6 - I Give Up [Question]

First, it was acquiring the freighter. Fought the attackers, entered the ship, talked to the captain, didn't actually get the ship. There were TWO captains, superimposed. Maybe I was talking to the wrong one... Quit and came back , problem fixed. Progressed to the "lost freighter?" step, it's UNDER A FUCKING VOLCANO! I can get to within 15 units, but no closer. Quit, reloaded, but nothing has changed. I don't think there's any way out of this other than start again from scratch.

Question, though; later steps require you to build things. There's no base option in my build menu. Is that a bug, or can you now build without a base? Started a fresh expedition 6, and it's not there either. Don't want to go any further until I know I'm not going to get screwed over again further along.

Settlement Population Question [Question]

I recently started checking out the settlement content, but I've run into a problem. My happiness and productivity are both sky high, but my population never goes up. I think it happened once when I allowed some strangers to set up shop, but other than that, nothing.

It doesn't seem like population grows organically, or is it that my settlement is glitched? Is it a construction opportunity that allows the population to go up? Should I be turning down things that don't effect population, if so?

Beginner Freighter Questions [Discussion]

I’m fairly new to this game. I have about 25 hours so far.

I recently came across a freighter that I saved. Although I still had to pay for it. I thought the first one was supposed to be free?

Now the real question. How do I manage frigates, and do I need to constantly supply them with fuel? So far, I haven’t had to, but I see the option to craft it and it’s a faded option in the menu as I’m selecting the mission for my frigate. Do I just select a frigate for the mission and send them on their way each time they’re available, or is there more to this?

I feel like I jumped into freighter ownership and I have no idea what’s going on.

And as a bonus question, can I summon my freighter anywhere, even if it doesn’t have fuel?

It might be cool if we could build some settlement defences. [Discussion]

The pirate invasions are kinda annoying when you're not in your ship, but if we could maybe build some defences to stop that from being an issue it might be cool.

Like some ground to air missle launchers or something.

Anti aircraft stuff maybe.

It could also help with sentinel attacks at settlements.

Just a thought.

Okay so I got coordinates to a great derelict freighter. I know I'm in the correct area because there are 500 bases with a name reflecting the freighter. When I try to use the emergency distress beacon thing it keeps telling me my signal is jammed.

Any tips on how to find the actual freighter.

Why can't I summon certain Exocraft? [Question]

So I have the Exocraft Summoning Station on my Freighter, but I can only summon the Roamer, Colossus, and Minotaur with it. The Pilgrim, Nomad, and Nautilon cannot be summoned, and when I try I get a message saying that I don't own these even though I have constructed their respective Bays. I haven't built the Nautilon Bay, yet, but the Nomad and Pilgrim definitely don't work. I used to have the same problem with the Minotaur but it works now. For the ones I can't summon I have to build the Stations on-planet to get them there, and then I can summon them wherever using the Freighter Station until I go to a different system. That's when I have to repeat the process again. Does anyone else have this issue, and is there a way to fix it?

Freighter events like (space battles/infestations/crew disputes/pirates boarded) Customize Sentry to scan/mine/interact with objects for you. More varied ground combat and Squadron accompanies you on foot. More pulse hot spots pre determined on the map in space (distress signals/space fights between factions) Frenzied Sentinel Systems (Space and foot) More moving frigates and being able to command one around. Order it from planet to planet (faster pulse setup) while it carries Exocrafts for you. (subverts the needing your freighter while a friends is in the system. Also as a group taxi service.) Manage your own guild and/or space stations. (gives you some control on having a custom crafted system in combat levels and missions offered.) Your own custom creature creator. Air Support Beacons for squadrons/frigates. Customize Starship, frigate, and multitool colors.

Black Market Goods -> Settlement Situation [Discussion]

I have made a base with a base teleporter module in/on a trading post with a Black Market Trading Terminal on a planet in a pirate controlled system.

What is stopping me from just teleporting here, buying contraband, teleporting back to my settlement, and selling the contraband in my settlement’s standard trading terminal?

It feels like cheating and I am bypassing the risk of carrying contraband.

Expedition new saves ruin this game. [Suggestion]

Hey all,

I really like this game, but expeditions requiring a brand new save ruin all motivation for this game. Not bei g able to do old expeditions also ruins it. From this last expedition I have a character now that I won't touch and can't even get the resources from it. When another expedition comes out, we have to make another save and do this all over again? It kills motivation for this game. One save for normal play is all I want or need.

Back in 2016, I held onto my PS4 copy in faith that the developers had good intentions and I wanted No Man's Sky to be the game I've always dreamt about. Moving on to 6 years later (many updates and many hours later) and I've now given both my PS4 and my copy of No Man's Sky to my best friend who wanted to start playing games (she's 40 years old and never owned a game console in her life).

Every weekend I go over to her place and I jump on my PC version of the game, we explore the universe together and have such a good time playing this game. We've already made so many great memories and after 50 hours she's really getting used to the controls and how the game works (I'm a great teacher). These are moments I truly cherish and wouldn't trade for anything, I just wanted to share that with the community.

We both absolutely adore this game to its core.

What is the point of jumping from galaxy to galaxy? [Question]

Aside from story purposes, is there any legitimate reason to jump from galaxy to galaxy? I plan on doing it once just for the experience, but apparently you can do it multiple times.

And another question: what galaxy is the best one for player interaction? I want to make a base at some point near the center since I hear that’s where a lot of people set up camp, but should I just pick a galaxy or keep jumping?

Problem: mission can't be completed [Question]

Working through Atlas and I have to go find a multitool technology merchant in a Vykeen system. I go to the system marked on the map, which is a pirate system. It shows I have to go to the station, so I do, but as soon as I land it says it's on-planet. I can't ever figure out where I'm supposed to go. Help!

Game breaking bugs... 6 year old game [Bug]

Freighter rooms disappearing, infinite warps, inventory being deleted, glitching through the map, and most recently 10000 oxygen and 4000 chlorine that was creating more chlorine (probably output of 6-10 mil) gone out of the refiner for no reason. This post isn't just to complain, but to ask for help understand why everyone seems to put up with this? Also if anyone had the refiner glitch to help me know if I can correct it and get the stuff back or if i'm just at a loss. feeling the straw the broke the camels back vibe right now.

Early Game Growing Pains - What Gives? [Question]

I used to play the game on PS4 years ago and decided to buy it on PC. I don't recall the early game sucking this much for just getting to a point that I feel like I can start exploring and base building without gimping myself. The starting missions are so slow paced. How do I make Units? [Question]

So I'm relatively new to this game ( I just finished ghosts in the Machine and a LOT of side quests (got a freighter that hasn't been used, Under a Rebel Star, am on Agricultural Research, have a small settlement, and am working on A Trace of Metal)) and have three questions

One, what's the fastest way to get units for someone with my progress?

Two, would a circuit board farm be worth it in profit terms?

And three, I've been playing exclusively on singleplayer, what would happen to my progress if I switched to Multiplayer, and is it worth it?

Confused on expeditions / saves [Question]

So I've been playing this game for many months now on one normal save file and I've never done one of those community expeditions. In the anomaly I've seen the quicksilver npc have items that can be gotten from completing expeditions and I assume it's referring to the community expedition tab. What I'm confused on however is how they work exactly. I have many many hours poured into this one save, and I'm worried if I start an expedition, all the stuff worked for previously will be thrown away to go after expedition rewards (multiple times at that since some rewards require you to complete for ex: 5 expeditions) so would that mean I have to make many new saves and lose all stuff prior, or do these expedition rewards transfer over to the main save that I have? If this is a dumb question I do apologize, however I'm just generally confused on how it all works and any help would be tremendous! This question also comes from my parents as they're in the same boat as me since we all play together lol.

I just started yesterday and my friend started playing with me...he has been trying to get me to play forever.

I'm just now realizing after watching videos that I can claim discoveries and rename them, however when I tried to rename them I couldn't...it also says my friend's name under EVERY PLANET in the solar system.

Is there a way for me to change it? I shouldnt care really but it feels like a blower.

QS Pirate Missions Disappear [Bug]

Has anyone else experienced this? Summon the anomaly into a peaceful system. Activate a pirate hunting QS mission at the Nexus. Leave the anomaly and pulse to the pirate marker (no warp, same system). Arrive at pirate marker and automatically exit pulse drive. Find there are no pirates to destroy and none show up, ever.

The promise and problem in No Man’s Sky [Suggestion]

I have been playing this game since it first launched on Xbox, and I have put in over 200 hours in the game. I know that is nothing compared to how much many of you have played, but it’s a lot for me. What Sean and his team have done on this game has been such a breath of fresh air in the micro transaction and loot box era where nothing is free or even finished at launch. For Hello games to have put in the work to make this game excellent is such a relief, I will buy their next title for sure! I have a qualm though. This game started rough, but diverse in its exploration at least. I remember when colors were crazy, terrain was weirder, and animals weren’t everywhere. This made actually finding a decent world a challenge and fun in and of itself. That time has gone. The potential of this game has come so incredibly far, and we are at a place where real magic and finishing touches can happen. The world now has lost some of its exploration charm, but I think that can be addressed fairly easily with tweaking of probability and only a couple features. HG seems to have primed the game to feel both populated and empty, and I have some ideas of how they can do both. I have a wishlist for 4.0 to address these, and I am curious what you all think as well, so please share!

-quality of life fixes I hope they do some QOL in 3.9, and save the big stuff for 4.0. I want to see them tie more existing features together. For example, cooking. Make that more important, and tie it into some other things. Make the game more connected, there’s tons that can be done to tie everything together.

I've not been able to do any Nexus missions with Quicksilver, I have been getting the "connecting to online discovery services" for over a week at least.

I've restarted my console, logged in and out of the game, saved and reloaded and restarted my router.

Let me explain, I have almost 150 hours in game. And I'm on perma death. When I got bored of grinding, I went to the anomaly to make some friends. A very mean gek said some nasty things that really got to me. And after I explained why it wasn't appropriate they told me it was just a game.. I got on my main perma death and told him I found an s class freighter. He joined my world and I killed him. It was so much fun... so I started to trick more and more perma death (gek) players into my system. Then I would kill them and there progress would be lost forever...

Hello, so I’ve pretty much gotten where the title indicates but I’m at a bit of a crossroads, I know you can use portals to make it easier but I can’t find the damn portals and I’m at the edge of the galaxy so reaching there by warping would be a huge pain in the ass due to the amount of resources needed, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Catching flyers [Question]

Does anyone have advice on catching birds? I build up to them but they turn away from the building… I fly to them and they avoid me before I get close enough to interact. I know it’s possible to tame them because I have eggs of other flyers that I’ve been given, but am unable to catch them for myself.

system freighters? [Question]

I've been hunting freighters for for a long time gotten multiple s classes and such. Is it possible for s class freighters to just randomly spawn in as system freighters? I've heard that it can happen but I just want confirmation for that, because just randomly posting around the system seems like it'd be a lot easier than doing the whole reload rinse repeat thing.

Looking for neighbours - any community planets out there? [Question]

Hii! Is there any planets where there are multiple bases with at least a few active players? I have played NMS a long time, but lately it has been feeling a bit lonely..

I love to build experimental bases, but nobody ever visits them. I leave messages, but I doubt nobody ever sees them.. I also like visiting other bases, I always warp to random places from space station and anomaly, but nobody is ever home..

Is there any planet where I could have neighbours?

How much biome diversity can there be on a single planet ? [Question]

Fairly new player here, I'm about 11 hours in and have jumped in 3 systems only. I see most planets are labeled with categories and everything but are they really bound to that ? Can there be planets on which you could find the same diversity there is on Earth ? Like having forests, deserts and ice biomes on a single planet ?

Expedition issues [Question]

I am having a really hard time with rendezvous point 4, I have jumped a minimum of 30 systems at this point along the expedition route and am still not even seeing the marker for it. I've submitted 2 tickets to HG but still haven't gotten resolution, is anyone else having a similar issue or does anyone know of a fix? Ps4 version if it matters

Freighter upgrades. [Question]

Anyone know of a good fast way to get the module needed to upgrade freighter for their boosters and all that? I have tried the “pirate method” and not a single freighter has it… I know doing derelict will give you one but is there a faster more efficient way of doing it?

Helicopters [Discussion]

I would love to see the a new veichle (And NOT an exocraft) that works like an Helicopter instead of the classical fighter aircraft. The aircraft based spaceship is very useful in the space battles, but on land battle (Against sentinels) the aircraft becomes difficult to use because you can't do hovering and for the multitool becomes boring and not anymore unique. Maybe this will be more usefull for short voyages inside the planets, but when you have so many sentinels hunting you, the helicopter could become the ultimate weapon (And... of course... using ship weapons, not exocraft weapons)

Are there tutorial missions for pets (eggs, breeding etc), or exocraft / underwater. How to trigger them to start? [Question]

I’m about 20 hours in, and never tamed a pet thinking there’s quest that walks you through the basics, kind of like how the base building does. Same thing with exocrafts (no idea how to get the mech missions), and also the underwater worlds, (I def remember seeing a quest for learning the basics, when the underwater expansion came out, same as the creatures taming).

PS5 Issues [Bug]

Every time I try to play No Man's Sky on PS5, it works for a while and then my PS5 just turns it's self off. I can't turn it back on unless I unplug it and plug it back in. I have played many other games on my PS5 and nothing else has caused this to happen. Anyone else have this type of issue? Any fixes?

Trade route and price recovery [Question]

I thought I was being super clever with linking four trading posts in different systems and then doing the trade route thing. But I noticed that systems get depleted in terms of what they manufacture.

How long does it take for them to recover? Whats the "production rate" as it were.

No Path for Mission on Galactic Map [Question]

I've only recently returned to the game after last playing when it launched in 2016, and I'm having a blast. However, I am needing to locate Activated Copper for some ship repairs and when I select it as my mission, no suggested path or anything comes up on the Galactic Map. The other selections, like Black Hole or Galactic Center, provide a clear trail.

We need an extreme depths update. [Suggestion]

An update I would love to see would be extreme depths! I want to be able to enter a cave that descends over 10000u and have all kinds of different flora and fauna in them! I also want to be able dig to the planets core and maybe some exotic planets could have life down there. This would also make the ocean much more interesting and you could make it so you have to use the submarine after a certain depth due to pressure. I also could see new multi tool upgrades that allow you to dig thru harder and harder rock.

VR is amazing! [Discussion]

I play on PlayStation, and I have a PS VR headset. After reaching the center of the first galaxy, I decided to start a new save that I would play mostly in VR. And trust me, it was worth it. Not only was it so much immersive, but I felt like it was actually easier to control. For example, it was a lot easier to aim the tools than it is in first person. If you haven’t done the game in VR yet and you are able to, I strongly recommend that you give it a try.

Hey everyone! I’ve tried to google this question but no luck. What are some of the best ways to make the most out of the space aspect of No Mans Sky? [Question]

So I kind of want to just role play and primarily focus on Space in the game and only go to land when I need to or want to for some reason. I have a freighter (haven’t played in a year so hopefully it’s okay Lmao) but don’t know what else I can do in space.

Petition to let permadeath players change to normal mode. [Suggestion]

I started permadeath because I wanted to get the achievement to get to the center of the galaxy and I like the struggle. The issue is I didn't know I eouldnt be able to play with my girlfriend and friend who started to play in normal mode after I started. Max number of ships debate [Question]

Hi, so in looking around I have found most posts say max of 6 ships and I know the max your freighter can show is 6 however, by accident, I have proven you can have more ships than your freighter can hold so is the fandom wiki right with the number 9? Can any one say definitively what the max number is? and what error does it give when you hit the max?

Unable to download base error [Bug]

I keep getting an error when trying to use the teleporter to go to other player bases. Not friends, just browsing the teleportation terminal and it no longer lets me visit other player bases. Now it says “Unable to download data’ for every base I try outside of space stations and the community highlights bases

are there no firefights in this game? [Question]

Still in the early game, I think, and just got my first freighter. I noticed that all the ground fighting is either sentinels or aggresive animals, and have yet to experience any of the alien species fighting in person. Despite pirates making a significant portion of hostile encounters and guns (multi-tools?) being such commonly advertised equipment, I've yet to see anyone who is not in a starship get into a fight, does it just not exist? If so, is there really a reason it shouldn't at this point?

Pirate Mission Ideas [Discussion]

Your hanging out on a pirate station when a heretic Vy'keen gives you a data chip and a mission to insert it into a large archive, thus spreading the "truth" about "Hirk the betrayer."

A renegade Kovak directs you to Convergence cube factory with instructions to corrupt them into Divergent Cubes to "blind the crimson eye."

A rouge Gek merchant explains they want you to land on a rival's faregate and sabotage vital systems thus giving the devious merchant a lag up on the competition.

"Good guy" missions could be the inverse where you rush to stop the spread of misinformation before it leads to a civil war, shut down the factory before the corruption can spread or repairing an NPC's faregate so they can return to their trade route.

What are your thoughts?

I made a ball game in NMS on a paradise planet. It uses the summonable sphere as a ball.

The most efficient way I found to get Nanites, often overlooked. [Information]

For some reason I see a lot of stuff about getting nanites that are a lot more grindy than they need to be. You can easily get way more than you need without any grinding by scanning for animals.

My tip is, go to your local mission giver and take whatever mission, getting your nanite bonus is secondary really. You will almost always end up at a brand new planet.

While doing your mission, keep scanning the fauna regularly, index all the ones you can at each location.

When the mission is completed, check what fauna is left on the planet. If its some ground or sky fauna, easy peasy just roam around a little and they will pop up (take note if you need to go to the night side or day side, e.g. the creature is nocturnal or diurnal). Don't get discouraged if there is underwater fauna because they actually also appear very quickly typically without having to go too far into the water. HOWEVER, if there are some underground fauna, I do highly recommend just leaving it be and moving on. Yes you can find it, but you can also find ALL the fauna on another planet in less time than finding a single rare underground one unless you are very lucky.

Go to the Discovery tab, and collect your Nanite bonus for discovering all the fauna on the planet! The average payout I get is 2000 nanites for this, with it being based on the total number of fauna discovered.

Additionally if you get to an aggressive sentinel planet, just massacre all of them. With a couple life support system upgrades and a basic weapon, its not unreasonable. As you kill them, save the pods they drop as shield recharges during the next wave. Use the melee+boost trick to maneuver thru them, and pick up a pod if your shield drops to 50%. ALWAYS KILL ALL THE REPAIR BOTS FIRST, and keep in mind reinforcement repair bots can come mid-wave.

Afterwards, pick up all the pods, go to the...

Hi there! I have been playing for 2 or 3 weeks by now. Recently, I started the voice of freedom questline and received the shroud of freedom. After that, I needed to use fake details at a station's core to reset my reputation, but that mission disappeared of my log out of the blue. Settlement mission notification bug. Any work around? [Bug]

I recently decided to start a new settlement in a new galaxy and found the perfect spot. Although, now I don’t get any notifications for when the overseer terminal has new decisions or buildings are ready for their next construction phase. There isn’t even settlement showing in log mission menu. Is there anything I can do to get notifications back? I’ve thought about joining a new settlement and then come back to this one and see if it resets it. That said I’ve made some good progress so i don’t want to do that if it doesn’t help. I have reported to NMS zendesk too.

I find settlements to be very enjoyable but why do we only get to claim one at a time? We should be able to oversee the development of maybe a dozen at least. Expanding an intergalactic empire using settlements sounds very fun, and would give us even more of something to do.

Update Proposal 1: Armory [Discussion]

This is an Update Proposal for the game.

I have no way of making it official or knowing how to make Games Workshop aware of these concepts, it's just me suggesting ideas I have for fellow fans. If you lot know of any way to show this off to Sean and Hello Games, that'd be awesome! ARMORY UPDATE

This update focuses on improving ground combat and expanding on combat fluidity, creativity and engagement. Adding with it new controls, weapons and gear, a whole new roster of unique multi-tool types, multi-tool customization stations, NPC ground foes, overhauled stealth system, aggressive fauna and hunting and general improvements of course.

Starting with the biggest feature: New Multi-Tool types. This update would feature two new multitool body types to join your roster of 6 multitools (possibly expand that number with the update, maybe 9?). The Multi-Saber: these gauntlet shaped multi-tools are designed to trade all of their ranged damage potential for CQC damage, and are best used with the new multi-tool weapon class: Hard-light Sabers. These weapons generate a melee weapon of hard-light ranging from swords, spears, hammers, scythes and more, each behaving wildly different with varying reach, damage and speed stats. You can still equip ranged weapons and modules, but they won't be as effective, especially as these multi-tools don't have as many slots as Rifles, but more than Pistols. Another thing to note is both the fire and melee commands work for these tools, alternating between horizontal and vertical slashes. You can install a module to make your secondary tool perform a thrust attack as well. Speaking of Secondary's, the Saber class is the only class that will let you use secondary modules and primary weapons simultaneously, allowing you to attack while shielded, cloaked or using any of the new secondary hardware. Void Egg Need To Know!!!!!! [Question]

How many parts are there to the void egg before getting to the final phase?????

When I put in the coordinates I get

HOWEVER, I "think" i may have sold one of the parts by accident as I was getting rid of stuff in my inventory. I kept all the void parts together in the bottom right of my cargo inventory and noticed and empty spot where there shouldn't have been, being the last piece, (i think) that I received.

Let me preface this post by giving a bit of background on myself, which will be quite relevant as you will soon see. I'm a legally blind gamer, I was diagnosed with optic nerve hypoplasia at birth, which is complex medical jargon for "eyes don't connect to the brain properly." Now to the meat of the post. I absolutely love the new auto follow feature for space combat no matter how many people try to knock on it. I wish for a similar lock-on system for ground combat as those sentinels are quite difficult for me to see from a distance, leading those summoners to extend waves far beyond what I want to happen. This visual disconnect makes it virtually impossible for me to climb the alert levels because the summoners have time to phone their friends before I see them. When their friends get there I don't have time to kill the summoner, leading me to an infinite loop of pain stuck at alert level 2 or 3, the highest I managed to reach was 4 by share luck. I thought having a fully upgraded minotaur would help me with this but it needs to get its priorities in check, it doesn't even bother with the summoner unless it's the absolutely last thing left, which is rarely ever able to happen. This leads to a massive expense of repairing every tech that breaks before the next attempt. If I had targeting options on foot then I could see lock on and effectively deal with the summoners first, alternatively swap the minotaur priority so it kills them first, or better yet give us control of the priority setting.

I know many players hate the default options for in ship follow because it overwrites the reverse key, so to prevent this I think it would be cool to append this lock-on feature to the combat scope. As it stands now that minor bit of zoom it gives is rarely used by anyone and I don't see many players on youtube who even install it. Giving it this...

steam overlay not working with nms now? [Bug]

heyo last time I played steam over lay worked fine now it just won't work at all with nms. The check mark is checked in steam properties, it's enabled and everything. Works in other games just fine, but I re-installed nms today and it just doesn't work anymore. I've taken screenshots with steam overlay before, it all worked fine.

Missing base construction items? [Question]

There are two basic (not the ones you buy with Quicksilver) base construction items that show up as silhouettes [???] for me in the in-game items lists, and it's triggering my OCD. One I'm pretty sure is a 'Yellow Floor Crate', as per the attached image. I would expect this to be available from the Construction Research Unit on the Anomaly, but it isn't. The second looks like it might be a variant of the Straight Freighter Corridor. The silhouette sits right before the Straight Freighter Corridor in the gallery and looks to have the same shape. My Googling has failed to turn up any clue as to what it actually is, though. Help?

Hear me out: Swords [Suggestion]

So the sentinel update revamped pvp, which was dope, but something was missing. I found what it was today

Swords.

You could use swords along side your multi-tool, to help chain damage, or use the sword as a multi-tool. It would use different pvp upgrades (changes the color of the blade, or how its handled.), along side with mining upgrades. I think this would do more on materials in comparison to the multi-tool, as you would have to be up closer

Will I Enjoy this Game at its Current State? [Question]

I last played this game in August of 2020 with very little context or idea of the game going in. I quickly found myself bogged down in confusing tutorials and a seemingly endless grind of resources in order to power my suit, ship, as well as building my (wooden?) base on a planet that was constantly trying to cook me alive. While the premise, artstyle, and overall theme of the game intrigued me, the gameplay at that point was little more than a "walk here, hold left click, walk back" simulator. Was I simply playing the game wrong? Is the beginning of the game supposed to be slow? If so, has anything changed in the nearly 2 years since I last experienced this game. Any answers are appreciated.

My EXOTIC (squid) is faster than my SOLAR and it doesn't make sense. [Information]

I have lots of screenshots -that i dont think is needed to upload any, but i can- comparing them on Full Throttle and Boost (atmosphere, same altitude). and on Space Boost and Pulse Prive.

No matter how i place the modules, the Squid is always faster(U/S) than the Solar, and "stats wise" this doesn't make any sense!

Both ships and upgrade modules are S-class.

The boost bonus from the 6 pulse engine upgrades installed on ships:

On Exotic is +72% boost in total.

On Solar is +75% boost, plus a +15% from Vesper Sail = +90% in total

Yet the Exotic is faster than the Solar in all "modes", EXCEPT on the PULSE DRIVE! Where the Solar is slightly faster. As from the same distance to target on Pulse Drive, the Exotic needed 47 seconds where the Solar needed 45 seconds!

How you justify this?! Even if the +15% boost of the vesper sail counts only on Pulse Drive(which i doubt), the boost bonuses from the upgrades are higher on the Solar!

PS: wasnt sure which flair better fits the post :/

Small tutorial on how to find Lush planets [Information]

i have not seen a post like this on this sub so i wanted to share this in case anyone (especially newer players) is struggling with finding a lush planet,

Step one: charge your hyperdrive

Step two: Travel to Yellow start of G or F class followed by 4, 5 or 6, and if you want planets with water look out for the word water after the class, there might also be a letter after the number but that doesn't affect the chances of finding lush planets

Step three: Explore the System

Repeat

note: the number in the class name refers to the temperature, the higher the number the colder the system is, i have also in my personal experience noticed that despite having a smaller chance of finding a lush planet the euclid galaxy has overall better looking planets, tho this might just be a coincidence;

Alone Amidst the Stars, potential quest bug? Please help :) [Question]

On the Alone Amidst the Stars quest, after 100% calibration I have to locate a life form and ask about my location, however on the trading hub where they are supposedly located there is no-one at all? Is this a bug?

Do we think the switch version is going to be good and playable? [Question]

For me the Switch is far more accessible to play longer hours but I’m kinda in limbo with what the switch version will bring.

I don’t want to invest too much more time in my current save if it means starting fresh with the Switch version. And then on the flip side I don’t want to pause playing for a while if it means the switch version of the game is going to be poor or unplayable.

What are you thoughts on the upcoming switch version? Do you think it will be worth the wait ?

NMS in VR -- GOG? [Question]

Everyone who bought their NMS copy on Steam seems to have no issue with firing up VR. However, I got my copy on GOG and although it has VR available, I don't have a clue how to make it run and work properly the way VR just works with Steam.

I've asked GOG and HG, but have gotten nothing but general advice that is not remotely helpful.

Does anyone have ideas? Has anyone solved this issue? Am I simply a moron?

Going back to my freighter [Screenshot]

I've had this freighter for some time. I remember warping into a star system and a battle was taking place and there was this red but mostly black "island" in front of me. I remember thinking "Absolutely, no friendly fire"...I didn't want to take a chance on not getting aboard to make an offer. The battle ended favorably and I got onboard. She turned out to be the largest "S" type freighter available and the color scheme was great. At this point, all of the combat, exploratory, trade and support as well as the ships in my starship fleet are "S" types.

Glitch with planets [Bug]

Hi all, I don’t know if anyone has ever had this problem before but my entire planet isn’t loading. From space I can see the ground but as soon as I clear the clouds it’s all water, I can ever fly through the water. Need help with Pirate Maps... Spoilers maybe [Question]

I can't seem to pin point the location of the pirate map when I activate the completed map in my inventory? It disappears from my exosuit inventory but then no markers show up? What am I missing? This is specifically for expedition 6, phase 4.

Game Keeps crashing [Question]

Not sure if this is the right place for this? I'm a returning player, not played for a couple of years and am loving getting back into it.

But I notice that the game seems to crash out to the desktop, stop responding, or glitch with AMD drivers and crash? Crashed out 5 times today alone.

I'm running Windows 11 AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard Crucial Ballistix RGB 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory Gigabyte Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB GAMING OC Video Card

Expedition 6 Phase 3 Help(Sunkin Treasure) [Question]

Need help with Expedition 6 Phase 3.

So I just need the one badge that you build the underwater Sub and activate its Scanner to locate an underwater ruin.

My problem is I have been on 3 water planets and my Sonar says there are no underwater ruins nearby.

What am I doing wrong?

I went back to the same planet the 3rd Rondeviue is one, the same one I have seen some YouTube gamers find an underwater ruin but still I can't find one with my Sub and Sonar.

Any help would be appreciated as the Expedition time is nearing the end like just 7 days left, I can't waist much time.

Combat Crash Course please? [Question]

I've mostly been treating NMS as a chill exploration game and my tactic for Sentinels has just been to run like a jackrabbit until they forget about me. I'm seeing rumors that I have to fight a bunch of them for the expedition and I'd love some tips. Need help with a recording issue. [Question]

So I've been playing NMS with a friend recently, I'm on ps5 he's on pc.

So I occasionally record our sessions as many fun things tend to happen, but for some reason It won't record his voice. I tried tons of things on ps5 but nothing seems to be working.

Its a gravely annoying isssue as I lost many great moments to probably some simple settings that I simply can't figure out.

Looking for help regarding multiplayer Sync issues. [Question]

So, my main squeeze and I recently started playing NMS, I've finished the main campaign, she's still working on it.

When we try to group up though, for both of us, the other player and their ship (we're on a planet) keep blinking in and out every couple of seconds, coupled with "player has left the system" then "player has entered the system" ad nauseum.

When we first tried it about a week ago I put it down to maybe the game's network having issues, but we've tried it about 4 times since and this happens on every occasion.

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how to go about remedying the issue.

Building onto a colony? [Question]

Forgive me for asking what is probably a stupid question. I found my perfect planet, I talked to the cartographer and found a cool colony, I made it mine. But I was under the impression you could base build inside the colony but all I find is the co structure terminal that lets me build additions to the colony? Am I doing something wrong? I can’t put down a base computer inside the colony so I cannot free build in it? Any help is appreciated.

Agricultural Research quest won't clear [Bug]

I've finished everything, the mission is now stuck on "return to the farmer". Doing so, however, doesn't get rid of the mission; I've seen that dialogue perhaps a dozen times by now. Same issue with the exocraft guy. Any fixes?

So I had seen the Terrarium in the QS shop and thought it'd be cool to see my companion on my freighter, right? So I save up, buy it, recipe was fairly expensive for me at the time but I managed. i think my main ship just switched classes? [Bug]

So I was in a space station farming scrap exotics

so I was about to scrap one when I realised it was worth 109 million, so I thought it was a bug, I did a million things, reload autosave, go into my freighter, nothing worked. even on the summon ship menu my ship was the red exotic, and my main fighter wouldn't even show up. has this happened to anyone before, if so what did you do about it?

Are solar ships getting another patch to fix the color change? [Question]

Hey everyone, first time long time.

I know this is probably an old topic by now, but I was hoping to get some kind of feedback from those who might be a bit more in the know. I had an all-yellow, Raven bodied, torpedoed solar ship (yeah, went for the full Naboo starfighter look) and after 3.89, it turned yellow and...brown? Taupe? Mauve? I don't even really know what to call the other color, but it's a weird shade that I don't think I've ever seen on another ship. Depending on the lighting, the shade shifts slightly.

Anyway, it's taken a great looking ship and made it fairly hideous. Is it worth holding on to and waiting in the hopes that a patch will fix it or should I just scrap it and start a new hunt? I don't even totally mind the all-yellow paint scheme being changed, but this new color just doesn't work. To me, it looks like it's a place-holder color.

Do Oxygen Harvesters just not have slots for wiring? [Question]

And if so, how are you guys automating your oxygen farms?

Hey guys, first time poster here. I’m pretty early in and am trying to do chlorine expansion. I found a paradise planet, plopped down about 3 medium refiners and a teleporter to go back and forth to the space station to buy oxygen in order to fuel the refiners.

I read online about people automating this process with an oxygen harvester, so I went and found an oxygen cloud RIGHT next to the chlorine refiners. I plopped down two solar panels, a battery, and an oxygen harvester, but realized it doesn’t even have a slot to connect the wire- you can only power it by putting in fuel.

So, I guess my question is, is there any better way to get oxygen? Or should I just keep doing what I’m doing, going to the space station and buying it all up and then coming back?

I am only doing around 60-100 damage per tick when I am mining curious deposits, but I saw a video of someone doing over 400 damage, I have two s class modules and one a class, but I feel like even if I got another s class I still would be close. Is there something I'm missing or were they modding or?

Can you join a friend on a different mode ? [Question]

Hi,

Tonight my friend and I wanted to play together, after some server issues where we couldn't access the multiplayer matchmaking that lasted about an hour or two, we finally could join the same group. So I joined him on his planet and we played for two hours. We took a one hour break and came back to play together again but either of us could join the group without starting a new save. We figured the problem could be that I am on Survival mode and my friend's on Normal mode. But how does that explain the fact that we played together (seeing each other character on the planet and each other's base) just 2 hours before. Was it a bug, or are the servers not doing great ? I do not know and I couldn't find an answer online. Do you have any idea what the issue might be ?

First re: companions...

The companions I bred have exaggerated head sizes, I think this is because they are infants, but I'm not sure. Can anyone verify?

What are the best items for each personality type that are both accessible and have a high percentage boost?

​

How does each personality type affect the companion in question?

​

When a companion lists "unusual" as their native biome, but you were foolish and didn't record where to go, is there a way to figure out where to take them to get an egg from them?

​

Re: base building...

​

Is there a way to get power to an entire modular building? I can only use health and shield restores in modular buildings it seems because I can't run power directly to them. Same with some lights, which means that my rooms are perpetually dimmer than I'd like.

Is there any way at all to get rounded pieces for wood/stone/alloy? The best I can do is a hexagon currently, but my settlement has a cylindrical tower that looks like it is stone based.

Re: settlements...

I noticed my settlement is B class. Do you upgrade their class as you go or do you have to find things like S class settlements. What types of systems are more likely to have them if so?

Can I have multiple settlements on one save file? I've heard that originally even cross-save settlements were buggy.

A case for ship customization from an Elite: Dangerous Veteran [Discussion]

Emagine yourself as a new player who just started playing No Man's Sky today. The game is amazingly beautiful and you've just lost yourself in the awesome journey. The whole time you're thinking you want to get yourself a cool ship. You've looked at the classes and understand what benefits each offers and have decided to get a solar ship just because you like the way they look in general. Now you go hunting, and find several ships that are close but not quite right... One's the right color but has this ugly body style or the wings that look like sheets of paper sticking off the wings and you just don't want that, so you keep looking. Next you find one that's the perfect design but it's the wrong color, so you keep looking. Each one you come across just isn't right and you've spent months in your search, so much time in fact that you've done absolutely everything else, all the quests, done... every planet type visited and even portal bases in a number of galaxies but you still haven't found your ship, so you turn to the coordinate exchange or one of a small number of similar sites to see if anyone else has found your dream ship. Turns out, they did, so you go to the coordinates and because you want it as an S class you decide to reload for it. You keep at it but it just doesn't come, then get burned out or lose focus, either way you fall off because your S class just won't spawn. You know you could just settle for an A class and upgrade it, so eventually you reluctantly do that in the end just to have what you wanted. Next let's look at what happens if someone else hasn't found your dream ship yet, your only course of action is to just keep jumping, keep landing at stations and trading posts, keep reloading.

There's only so much reloading of the save that a person is willing to deal with, and making getting what you want dependant on...

Did they change the Free Freighter? [Question]

So I decided this playthrough to decline the first free freighter I came across because I read that you can get a free Capital freighter the second time.

I played like 6+ more hours and did a bunch more jumps. I finally got a Pirate Battle again in a system I jumped to... But after I defeat the pirates, the transmission from the Freighter Captain doesn't invite me aboard the freighter -- instead he gives me Planetary Coordinates in another system, which lead to a Planetary Settlement instead.

Is this a new thing? Is it now impossible to get a free Capital freighter by declining the first one? I tried reloading a previous save and visiting a different system for the second pirate battle but the exact same thing happened... Should I just take the Planetary Settlement and keep playing for a third battle?

So I'm still in the starbirth mission the part where the egg's description is "The Hunter // The Reflection // The Hunter // The Spiral of Reality // The Star Over Water // The Ascending Orb // The Obscured Companion // The Hunter // The Lowly Insect // The Anomaly // The Sailor // The Ocean King // EUCLID EUCLID EUCLID" the wiki says it has to be in the Euclid galaxy. but I started the stage in the Budullangr galaxy and the path in the galaxy map is not towards the center, it goes away from the center. But in the Euclid galaxy it goes towards the galaxy's center so what do I do

Refinery Input/output stack is 250? [Question]

I've seen videos/guides where in the refinery, the max stack is much higher but I can only put up to 250 max in only (same as my exosuit max). Is this limited to my exosuit? Why can't I stack more then 250 at a time? Google hasn't been helpful.

Haven't been able to find a recent answer, how many buried tech would you need to unlock all the buildable pieces available on the Anomaly? [Question]

My step-son's mom is paying him 3mil units an hour to dig up 1000 buried technology modules because she wants to unlock everything available on the Anomaly. He said she counted it out and that's how much it requires but that doesn't sound right. I thought it would be around 300-400. Maaaybe 500 max. But it's been a while since I had to unlock anything there. Does anyone know the current count? Sure the kid is getting a bag for just running around planets, but he's getting bored and wants to move on.

General question about multiplayer…sort of… [Question]

I live 13 time zones away from my brother. He has a PC and I have an Xbox One, both online. I’m curious to know about the multiplayer experience as we haven’t seen each other in years and get to talk on the phone about twice a year given our schedules and locations.

My main question is: how (or can you) invite one person? I have practically zero online gaming experience and am only a couple of hours into NMS. I am envisioning us getting to “hang out” in our own little corner of the universe and work together (at different times) to build a base and explore and whatever else cool this game has to offer. I’m seeing some crazy exciting stuff on this group! It feels like we could be kids “together” and have a planet sized sandbox to play with or planet systems that neighbor each other and we can party at each other’s place from time to time and help the other build stuff or share resources…? I may be way wrong about this. I’m into my 40’s and he just hit 50 (that’s real earth years, mind you) so that probably explains a lot about our mutual ignorance. We grew up on ColecoVision, Atari, etc, and both lost touch with video games until we hit the Oblivion era. Both forked out hard from different continents and both always thought, “damn, that would be cool if we could do that together”.

Any insight would be much appreciated! You all have shown me some crazy cool stuff to aspire to in the game!

Starbirth Quest Bugged? [Question]

I got the Fragile Neural Stem, it fully matured about 12 hours ago. The quest now says "The Void Egg is humming on a strange frequency. Await contact." I've been told to just pulse jump around, but it's only giving me those weird anomalies, no living ships and no traders. I can't restart the quest, I've tried jumping solar systems, closing the game, switching active quests, landing on different planets, shutting my console off, nothing works. Thoughts?

What is the max number of nanites needed to buy hard-set upgrades or slots? [Question]

I know there are animal companion slots (3 pages and it seems to get expensive fast) + squadron slots, but are those the only hard-set nanite upgrades/slots?

Frigate farm feels bad. [Discussion]

Trying for the upgrade salvage data at the moment. The S tier upgrades aren't too bad because at least they're guaranteed. As far as I know derelict freighters are the best way, the cost, time investment and monotony are getting to me though. I'll probably just cheat. I dont mind earning something, I have the alien ship, did it without system clock exploit. This freighter grind though is killing me.

Can’t join friends game? Any help please? [Question]

Just started the game yesterday got 11-12ish hours in playing with 2 other friends. Just finished a nexus mission and went to play another game for like 30ish mins and came back. I can’t see their name in the session list and when I try to join while in game it kicks me back to the main menu. In game is says not connected to matchmaking servers but my wifi is solid and we’ve been playing together. I’ve tried restarting the game & console, deleted save data cache and don’t know what else I can do. Does anyone have a fix?

(PS5) Error: Couldn't sync your saved data due to data corruption [Bug]

Hi Travelers. I've been playing NMS for a few years now and recently swapped over to PS5. I've noticed that frequently when I log in, I get a notification on the PS5 home screen that my NMS data couldn't be synced due to corruption. Scared the shit outta me the first time but noticed both my cloud and local data were fine. (The PS5 doesn't make it clear which data it thinks is corrupted.) I've noticed this error pops up 2 - 3 times a week now. System isn't low on storage space either.

Has anyone encountered this before? Is this a known bug or something completely bogus unique to me? Is Telamon getting wayyyy too meta? I'm posting here because it doesn't happen with any other PS5 game or data. Only NMS. Any help would be appreciated.

Wish I could place small companions inside my base! [Suggestion]

I have a few cute little companions now who I'd love to place inside my base to waddle around. It'd be pretty cool to come back to my base after adventuring & see my little dudes coming up to greet me! Even if they had size limits & could only be max 3 companions placed in a base or something, I wouldn't mind! Would just be a neat little feature to add lively-ness to our bases. That's all lol.

Character shifting from left to right when moving forward [Question]

Just decided to pick up the game and try it for the first time since it launched. Not even 15 minutes in and I can't get over how annoying the movement is. When moving up any even slightly uneven ground, my character will adjust course and drift to one side or the other. Is there a way to turn this off? Some people might think inconsistent inputs based on terrain are immersive or whatever but I just think it's super annoying

Under a Rebel Star nothing happened after using fake passport [Question]

So I got to the end of the under a rebel star mission and I did what it told me to do: use the fake passport at a legal space station. However, nothing happened after that and the mission is still there.

Thinking back, I think that the rebel star mission might not be selected when I used the passport, so do I need to go back and purchase another one?

Coming back [Question]

Hey there, I would love to play NMS again but I'm not sure if I can enjoy all the changes of the last 2 years with my 100 hours savegame or if I am able to come back to this savegame (to remember what I was doing there). It's holding me back to start all over again with a new playthrough when I remember how I was running/flying around for 15hours to find a good tool and then another 15 hours to find a good ship. I think i really dislike the early to mid game.

I need some motivation guys :)

Some things I think are still missing from NMS. [Suggestion]

  1. Damage to frigates: Just telling me a frigate is damaged during a mission doesn't tell me anything. Wish it would give more info to make a better decision, though, I don't know if a frigate can be completely lost. Anyone seen this happen? Never sure whether to keep on mission or bring it back, though the default is bringing it back.

  2. Inspecting NEW frigates for hire: Especially when there is bunch of them, I'd like some indication that I had already looked at the frigate, maybe the frigate indication color changes from green to yellow, something, anything. I always get turned around and twisted and lose sight of where I need to check next.

3)Notepad/Journal in game: Something in game that allows me to bring up a notepad to one side of the screen to type something in, be it coordinates, name of a planet and system. As it stands, I use the notepad on my phone to keep track of things, that there is no method for in game.

  1. I brought this up a long time ago, Guest Check in: Something similar to the communication ball, actually just replace the damn thing with this. Player can leave a some device that allows visiting players to check in, leaving their player name, date a time and a limited character message. It'd be nice if I could thank players for providing a resource station along my travels. The receiving of these messages could be done either with a device you can build in a main base or freighter or in a settlement, this way players would know if anyone is taking advantage of what they are building and providing.

No Man's Sky on the PS4 [Question]

Hi guys,

Firstly, this subreddit seems like such a great community!

Anyway, I really would love to get into NMS (Mods, this isn't a 'should i buy' post!) but where I live at the moment I can't hook my PS4 up to wifi. Does this mean that if I buy the game I will be playing the first version of it without all the amazing new updates?

I've heard the initial game is somewhat of a shadow to what it is now so would love some help on this!

unpopular opinion: making money is really easy [Discussion]

i kinda feel like they need to make the demand part of the terminals go WAY down if i sell a ton of stuff. for instance i can just keep refining chlorine and be forever rich. they should make it far less valuable than it is. would make it interesting to have to figure out other things to refine and sell/ come up w money other ways!

living ship help? [Question]

Finally at the end of the star birth quest I have found a living ship that I what and I am in the system it spawns on ( have base on its planet and save beacon at the ship location) every time o leave the space station I get the communication and a location it's always on the same planet not the one I'm after. Even of I choose disconnect it still gives me the same location as if I picked hatch egg how do I get the ship I am after.

Say No! to free freighters!!! [Discussion]

Hello everyone who sees this post and wants to add their opinions. I just wanted to put out my opinion for this game that might make it better. For starters, hello games should get rid of the option to get free freighters, or have a huge war battle with like 100 pirates to make obtaining a free one more meaningful. Second is that freighters should get bumped up to billions of units instead of couple hundred millions. I mean A freighter is literally a base, farm, storage, ship carrier that can be summoned anywhere at anytime in any galaxy. They should also make it a mission objective so that you feel accomplished when you finally get your commercial freighter. Now everybody post your opinions on the matter. 🤔🤔

Just wondering because I see people’s screenshots of this game, and it looks like it’s running on a gaming pc from the future at 4 billion K resolution. When I’m playing, it looks good on the ps5, don’t get me wrong. Maybe it’s just that I’m looking at tiny screenshots on my phone, but it just doesn’t feel like it looks as good as it should, considering what the ps5 is capable of.

tldr

Is the ps5 version running this at the ultra super mega graphics that it should be, or is it still scaled down from what an equivalent gaming computer can run it at?

Can't build specialist terminals [Question]

I've come back to nms after not playing for a long while. I remember ages ago having already built 2 terminals in an old base which had long since vanished from the game.

But now I'm back to building another base on another planet I can't seem to built the terminals again, I can't even see them anywhere. I've had a look online and I've built 2 cylindrical rooms, but it's done nothing...

I'm after the glass blueprint which I've read gets given to you by a specialist, but I can't build any of their terminals My current primary missions are: Ghosts in the machine - expand and staff your new home - construct terminals for specialist researchers. Find recruits aboars space stations

The space anomoly: search for Artemis & the mysterious Apollo

The atlas path - find the next atlas nterface

Does anyone else have any ideas? I just want my glass blueprint 😩

finally get to play this game after waiting nearly a decade. [Discussion]

I was waiting for it to release. Then I was living in my car. Then I was in prison. Just got it a couple weeks ago. Was trying to play on an old laptop. Wouldn't even load. Saved up for a budget Walmart HP gaming PC and can finally play it. Also bought an Oculus quest 2 and I'm playing in VR and it's GREAT! just wish I could switch my multi tool to my left hand . Combat with right hand shooting is challenging. But the FLYING!!! OMG it's so much fun to sweep my ship around as I come in for a landing and I can look in any direction. I LOVE IT!

Movement Upgrades Confusion [Question]

When I get jetpack tank upgrades and it says 100% does this meant it will double my current jet packs fuel? Seems a bit miss leading as it definitely doesn't double it. Also I've seen a lot of people say you can have 3 of each technology in general and technology inv. I've managed to have 4 movement upgrades in my tech inv without them disabling, is this new?

How do you retrieve settlement resources? [Question]

Everytime I go into my settlement and view the status it shows its producing resources and shows about an hour left to produce. But, I've never found where, or how, to gather resources that have already been produced.

Help! - Need complete Pirate Map to complete Phase 4 (PS4/5) [Question]

So I got killed when I had maps 2 and 3. When I respawned, my inventory drop was there but when I picked it up it stated "reinstating invebtory" but nothing came back - all items gone.

I got map 3 thinking "surely it registers I've got all 3 maps but nope, you need to combine them. I then dropped map 3 onto another player to test if maps can be traded.. so I now have no maps, but I know it can be done.

Is anyone able to trade me a complete map? I don't know if it gets destroyed or if you need to hand it in or whatever but if you don't lose it and you've completed the expedition already, I'd appreciate if you can add me, meet up and give me the completed map. Thanks.

If not I have 7 days as of today to restart it all.

So this question is referring to the steam version of the game. I want to download and play No Mans Sky on a seperate PC than the one that currently has all my save data on it, but if I try to play on one computer, will it download the saves to the other and mess up my progress?

Upgrading ship from C to S [Question]

I’ve decided on 2 solar ships that have my favorite aesthetic and stats. One is S and one is C. I need to compare their stats as if they were of equal class. Does anyone know of a calculator that could show what the c class’s stats would be once it hit s class. Don’t want to waste nanites on a potentially inferior ship.

Quick dumb question about settlements [Question]

I fired up the game for the first time in a long time and was immediately led to a settlement under attack by Sentinels. I defeated them and became the Overseer...

Then I realized this settlement sucks. It's on a planet with bad weather and I am not sticking around.

The settlement is not earning more than its expenses right now. If I just fly away from here forever is the settlement going to drain my bank account?

Is there a way to abandon a settlement?

Not sure what the right move is here.

So I’ve heard mixed things about how getting an A and upgrading to an S has just a slight difference from getting a base S as long as you have all your S modules, yeah?? Okay now my important question… I’ve seen that A’s only give a class upgrade up to 35% whereas S can do 50%, but even when you upgrade, it really doesn’t matter other than slot wise because your class upgrade multiplier will still be 35% in the grand scheme of things. Is it (slots aside) worth it upgrade module wise to wait for a base S?? If say I wait, again slots aside, will it be worth it to get a base? Or is the 35%/50% stuff just a bunch of jargon

Sentinel Walker freezing in mid air [Question]

I just recently started NMS and am having a blast. That was until I started the "a Trace of Metal" quest line. The first time I killed the 3 sentinel guards at the pillar, but a fourth never appeared. Read some stuff online that said warp to another system and warp back. I did that, but now 3 regular sentinels and a walker spawn. The 3 drones are no issue, but every time I try to kill the walker it jumps in the air and freezes. I can't shoot it and it doesn't react. I can't lose my sentinel tail until I hop in my ship and lose the interceptors in space. Is there a fix anyone knows of, because this is driving me up a wall.

I haven't played much No Man's Sky, since it felt incomplete at launch. I put a few hours into it just after launch, and then played briefly again about 2 years ago, but nothing else. I want to get back into it.

Stuck in a building. [Question]

I n normal mode I landed too close to a building and part of my ship was inside. Instead of taking off again I jumped out of my ship without thinking. Now I have moved around as far as I could in the building and tried to get close to my ship to get back in. I can get outside the building at the top level but can't jump off a side, jet pack out, etc. Out of ideas on how to get out. I went out of the game and came back in. No dice. Did a manual save to try to reset anything. Didn't work. Now I have no restore point to go back to before this happened. Have about 60 hours in this mode and I would like to not have to start over.

Any ideas, or am I just hosed for not thinking straight?

Does Freighter Cargo Transfer to new freighter? [Question]

I have a cool red and black star destroyer freighter. But its C class. I havent upgraded it yet because i figured id attempt to get a better one. With that said, when I purchase a new one, will any of the items in my cargo bays be transferred? or do i need to move them to some sort of temporary storage before i buy a new one. Thanks!

Stupid questions about mod farming....(probably obvious once you know it) [Question]

So when doing the C class fillers for farming the best S class mods; once you have everything mapped out....can you only do it once? I mean, say I'm doing ship core only and I get Hyperdrive in spot 3, Pulse in spot 8 and shields in spot 9, then if I wanted to roll those a second (and so on up to all six) time....wouldn't I have to save and reload to do that? And wouldn't that reset things so I'd have to map them out all over again?

Subsequently; how can you purposely reset it? Like....I once mapped a 249 hyperdrive to the 27th one I opened. And I didn't need anything else. I don't want to have to open 26 C mods prior to each S, how do I reroll that to bring it to something more reasonable?

Does it change or reset the whole thing if you switch to a different ship or weapon?

Hope to get the words translated right...

when I scan from the orbit a planet I see a list of resources, like activated indium, paraffinium and silver...

if I land and use my analysis visor I can find deep level mineral deposit of each kind, or, can only be fewer?

because I've searched for almost an hour and found only paraffinium and silver (while searching for activated indium) and don't know if I'm only unlucky or could be there isn't any deep level deposit... or if is just rare and need to search more

So about that limit of one capital ship / freighter per system. What if ... [Question]

I usually play with multiplayer turned off and so I can always summon my freighter to any system providing it has the proper color hyperdrive upgrades installed.

So if I'm in the system for the weekend Quicksilver mission in single player mode then I can (and usually do) summon the freighter. So far, all good.

But what if I then enable multiplayer and another player already has a freighter in the system? Does mine disappear? If so, where does it go to? And if I was on the freighter at the time what would happen? Or does the switch to multiplayer mode simply not occur?

Clearly, I have far too much time on my hands ...
