CHAPTER THREE - The dangers

I wake up in the middle of the night, with a strange feeling in my body. A kind of tingling. As if the edges of my existence were wobbling with each passing second. As I put my feet on the rocky floor of the cave under the Pillar I feel cold and that strange sensation fades away, everything returns to normal. Then I remember last night's dream.

I had never dreamed in my entire existence. I would simply close my eyes and nothing would happen until I opened them again a few hours later. But this time it was different. This time I saw Atlas in my dream. I saw him in front of me clearly, as I can now see the grass surrendering to the force of the wind or the flying fauna of this planet silhouetted against the sky. His crimson eye, ever so unfathomable, flashed on and off, amidst the most absolute silence and darkness. At the sixth flash a deep pain began to grow in my chest, spreading to my extremities. Then I screamed. Once, twice, three times. But Atlas would not listen. The only response I got was a steady hum and a number. The number.

I could hear it inside my head and not through the suit like everything else. That's when I woke up with that strange feeling.

Is this dream the will of Atlas? Am I going off schedule or is it the desperate cry of a dying god?

In any case, I get going. With my systems and body recharged, I leave the cave I created the previous cycle. The air outside is warm and pleasant. The night welcomes me with kindness. I turn on the flashlight of my exosuit and start walking.

I am currently looking for s class or a class frigates, since I lost my old save and could only recover an older save.

However, I barely can find s and a class ships. There are mostly c class and barely even b classes. Today I encountered a big fleet, they were selling 12 ships, but only 2 of them were b class...

Traversing Different Galaxies [Question]

I have always seen people post about leaving Elucid and not being able to come back without going through all the galaxies or starting a new save. On both of my saves I have a base on Elucid and in my second galaxy. I jump between both galaxies regularly by portal to my bases.... Is there something I am missing of why leaving Elucid may hinder the game experience?

An experiment and a question about bases [Question]

I’m playing No Man’s Sky on PS5 but a while ago I bought a decent gaming pc and couldnt resist getting No Man’s Sky for my Steam account. So far I haven’t played/made a pc save because I was told by my boyfriend, who does play NMS on pc, that it /might/ be possible to transfer my ps5 save to pc, and convert it to be used on steam, on my steam account and thus have two separate NMS playthroughs without having to go through every storyline and such up until where I am now. It would just save me a lot of time, that’s all. So suppose this works, and I’d continue the game on both platforms starting from that one save… what would happen to my bases, most of which are uploaded to the servers? Would I have issues spawning in bases that are effectively in the exact same spot on both saves? Or would it never matter?

Tips for transitioning from kbd+mouse to Steam Deck? [Question]

In theory my Steam Deck is arriving tomorrow, and I'd been holding off on the new expedition to try starting it on the Deck. I've only once tried to play NMS with a (Steam) controller, and never really took to it, though I probably didn't give it enough of a chance.

I understand there are 2 official sets of bindings from HG? For people who made the transition from mouse+kbd to Deck, were there key things or points that someone trying it for the first time should know to help ease the transition and get used to it?

Teleporting question. [Question]

I noticed that when I teleport to the first base I ever made like 2 years ago I get put inside near my teleporter, but when I teleport to other bases including a new one I made, I get put at the base computer and NOT the teleporter.

Also in the future I prefer to get put at my teleporter vs the base computer, any way to make this happen?

Seriously a noob question - Unique Minerals? [Question]

I just started playing this game. I'm about 10 hours in, maybe?

I'm basically just trying to go through the Artemis missions, and I got to a point where I need to increase my standing/reputation with the Gek. To do this, I was led to go to a mission board on a space station. Once there, I selected a couple "Explorer" missions that just wanted me to scan some unique minerals. Easy enough, right?

The helptips (or whatever they're called) are telling me to go into space and use the Galaxy Map to find the mineral survey location... and something about my client wants me to go to a specific planet.

...but I can't figure out for the life of me where the heck I'm supposed to go!! I've gone into space, scanned, used the galaxy map, etc. I don't see anything telling me where to go.

Help!?

Issue Trying to run an old build [Question]

I've managed to get the old Pathfinder 1.24 build from steam using the manifest steam console, games loads up fine, but now running into a serious issue where its just a black screen in game. All the menus are okay, the good old started screens is fine, by from the No Man's Sky opening galaxy travel to the initialization start of a new saved game is just completely black.

I've tried to install 2 different Nvidia drivers and just not working. Does anyone have a solution? there is almost nothing on black screens outside of some bug years ago on AMD GPU driver support. I have an RTX 2080.

Color of stars [Bug]

Okay so first I will say I DID checked if I use filters on galaxy map but I have "No filter" yet Red starts apears as sky blue. Blue stars are indeed dark blue and Green stars are like white.... how could this happened ? I included link to screenshot. My current system - on left is supposed to be Red and it is since it has completed my expedition quest. The one pointed "Irovopavn" should be green since it wants a Chromatic Warp thingy which allow you to go into green systems.

Need help with Starbirth quest please!!! [Question]

so I started the startbirth quest and I got up to having the Mature Heart Node and went to get the Fragile Shell but I think I messed up by leaving the system to my base to get the materials I needed and now I can't find the monolith again!! also when I got the Impossible Membrane it said I already had the fragile shell and the quest is still going but I do not have the item. will I get the ship without the fragile shell anyway or am I gonna get stuck when I reach the final phase?

Expedition 6 complete, void egg wants Euclid [Question]

Is there an easy way to get back to Euclid, if that's where I need to portal hop from, having been dumped into a new galaxy at the end of the latest expedition ?

I wasn't able to build a base before the galaxy jump because we weren't given the base computer until afterwards...

For a bonus question, is there an easy way to locate a portal ?

I could not get positron ejector to be the weapon after cyclone ballista [Question]

With the recent update on weapons, weapons like Cyclone Balliasta is strong against shields, while the positron ejector is good for the hull. So ideally the ship will start with the shield weapon, and then once the enemy shield is depleted, you switch to the hull weapon. But for whatever reason, I can't it to be in the order I want.

​ The order within the inventory doesn't seem to change anything. The weapon in the tech inventory seems to have priority.

The problem is, the fighter class ship also has a photo cannon that is pretty much useless, and always wants to be between the two.

Sentinel ships recharge their shields really quickly, so if the positron ejector is not immediately switched to, the enemy will have the shield back. It's quite annoying.

Rocket launcher does sit nicely after the Cyclone Ballista, but it does not one shot the sentinel ships.

Anyone got a solution that works?

Sentinel spam [Discussion]

Why did they make sentinels such a f*cking nuisance now? Literally can't do anything because everything I land on a planet, one spawns and chases me until it can scan me and then sentinels spawn forever, and now I can't escape by going into space, I can't escape them at all, quitting and reloading doesn't even work.

They need to nerf them somehow, the game isn't fun for me anymore.

Freighter bugged? [Question]

So on my main story mode save, I have just gotten the achievement / milestone for jumping 50 times yet I’ve not received the invititation to board a freighter for saving them from a pirate attack. I’ve encountered a few freighters under attack, which I’ve gone to save, but haven’t gotten a voice com notification. Any idea what’s up?

Died and can't find grave [Question]

So, I jumped off a tall mountain, and I guess didn't hit my jetpack soon enough? Didn't think I was falling that fast, but I still went splat. But now, there is no grave marker and I've searched around where I died. I know pretty close to where I was, I was heading towards a electronic node to survey and it was close to that. But nothing is there, not too worried about it cuz I didn't have too much on me but has anyone else had this issue?

Did they increase the number of ships we can have? [Question]

I recently began playing again after almost a year off, I currently have 2 fighters, 1 hauler, an exotic, a living and a solar ship. I was in a pirate system looking to see what their solar ships looked like and found a new cool looking one that matches my preferred color scheme (white and red) and spoke to the pilot to look at its stats, when I noticed that it gave me the option to purchase and add to collection as well as replace current ship. Thinking it might just be a visual bug I clicked it to see what would happen and it did seemingly add it to my fleet and all my other ships are still summonable as well. So did I miss an increase in the number of ships we can have or is my game bugging?

Problem with Expedition (Phase 3, first milestone called "Meeting 3") [Question]

I am newbie.

I have did around 300 jumps over few stars ahead and still not managed to hit target of first milestone of phase 3 (It is called "Meeting 3" after translation).

Is my game bugged or I just broke something? Can someone help me?

Technology Bug [Bug]

I’m not sure how to phrase it shortly, but I’ve noticed that if I am installing new technology (I’ve noticed it when installing freighter technology in the specific instance) if I don’t have enough materials to finish it, but can fix some parts, sometimes those parts disappear.

For example: I’m repairing the amplified warp shielding. It requires a warp hyper core, quantum computer, and 125 cadmium. I don’t have a hyper core yet, but I have added the cadmium, and at this point multiple quantum computers, because after awhile it keeps “forgetting” that I already added it

This is also in the expedition if that’s relevant. And it has happened to other technology as well, not just this specific item

I couldn’t find anything saying if this was a known bug or not because I wasn’t sure how to phrase it. Basically just wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem?

Newbie looking for some assistance [Question]

So I'm very new to the game, still in the tutorial phase in fact, but I seem to have gotten myself into a bit of a pickle.

I got off the starter planet, then when it told me to either explore another planet or go to another system, I chose to explore another planet. I found a crashed ship, which I claimed, but it's damaged and requires metals (copper etc) to refine to fix it.

Problem is, there doesn't appear to be any metals on this planet and I don't know if/how I can get my original ship back.

How boned am I?

Capital Freighter [Question]

Hey all, I'm trying to find my free freighter and I'm obviously looking for a capital ship. However, every ship says it's a Capital ship. Is there any way to find out whether it's the right class other than just the look of it? The Wiki says it's confusing and I agree!: Capital - It is somewhat confusing, as a freighter of any size is called a "Capital Ship" in the game GUI, however this is an actual category of freighters according to game files (hence making it a "Capital Ship" of "Capital" type).

Some observations on starship speeds based on some testing [Information]

While the Outlaws update has made the UI speedometer for starship speed more accurate (Although the maneuverability-boosting Polo Bobblehead still seems to erroneously increase the displayed speed on the speedometer), I still had a few questions about how starship speed worked, the supposed "speed limit", etc. so I've run a few tests (on PC, with some mods to assist). These are testing the speed of the free boosting through open space, not the "mini-warp" that consumes fuel from engaging the Pulse Drive.

Since the displayed speedometer has already been unreliable in the past, I used an old fashioned stopwatch and ran some loops between my freighter and a space station or nearby planet. I tested out several types of ships (Hauler, Exotic, Solar, & Living Ship, all S Class), with several different configurations of installed tech / upgrade modules, making sure to give ships the same loadout if comparing them directly. My "maxed out" configuration was using 6x Launcher upgrade modules, 6x Pulse Engine upgrade modules, 5x ship trails, the Artemis Bobblehead, and any tech that provides adjacency bonuses such as Sub-Light Amplifier.

Here are some things that seem to be the case base on the tests so far:

The range in max speeds between different ship types is pretty small; A "maxed out" S Class Solar ship only saves you ~12% of the travel time compared to a maxed out S Class Hauler.

The increase in speed between a maxed out S Class or "fresh" (no upgrade modules or optional tech) S Class ship is likewise fairly small. A maxed out ship also only seems to shave about ~12% off the travel time compared to a "fresh" one.

It doesn't appear there's a particular "speed limit" hard-coded into the game. When doubling the base flight speeds through mods instead of through tech / upgrade modules, the time taken to reach a destination kept dropping roughly...

Quick Binds Reset Every Play Session [Bug]

Basically the title.

When I access the quick menu it shows all my previous key bindings, but if I press the keys I bound it just takes me to the "Select Other Ship" option in the quick menu instead of pulling up the various technology recharge options I bound to originally. Am I the only one? Is there a fix?

had a quick question. my game is running terribly, 60 fps peak and constant stuttering and average of 30 fps. ive got an i5 9600 and 2080 super and i played this game last summer and it ran at 144. any idea how to fix this

Is it normal to warp 10+ times for the rebel star mission after starting it? [Question]

I got the mission started easily and now I’m having to warp a lot through the galaxy map to get to the destination. When I do it just shows more and more of the dotted lines and I don’t feel any closer at 15 warps at this time. On the screen it says to consult the galaxy map and I’m not sure if this is a bug or if it’s supposed to be very far away.

Animal Fossils [Suggestion]

Would there be any interest in the following:

After scanning/researching a new animal, that animals fossils appear on numerous rocks throughout planet to be found.

They are on lots of rocks for increasing odds of finding them. Once found, the rock is a collectible that you can build at your base as well as a hefty bonus of some sort.

Returned to the game, feeling overwhelmed [Question]

Hey all! As the title says, I'm coming back to the game after a VERY long time. My last save file with more than a couple of hours of playing around is dated 2017. I tried out Expedition 1 for a bit when that came out, but the game had changed so much that I felt like I was too in the dark to make any meaningful progress.

I've been watching from the sidelines as the game's gotten update after update, but now that I've jumped in, I feel a bit lost.

Is there anything I should be focusing on/working towards, besides the Artemis storyline? I'm really excited to get into it and stick with it this time, but I want to make sure I'm doing it right.

Solar ships are INCREDIBLY loud? [Discussion]

The new solar ships seem MUCH louder then other ships. Just accelerating and boosting makes an incredibly annoying and high-pitched sound. I've compared it to the other ships I own, and my solar ship is the only one that is even close to being irritating to listen to, just flying through space holding down W makes it screech horridly. It's to the point that I have to turn the rest of my sfx down to nearly off, which sucks because I want to hear the rest of the game, Or use a different ship. I don't know if it's a bug or not, but I hope some kind of fix or change happens soon.

Short Range Teleport [Question]

I've seen a lot of Nanite Farms advertisement saying that you should use the SRT system they have to teleport at least 1000u away from the base to get the deposits to respawn. I have a very small nanite farm myself and tried to find any kind of info on how the SRT system was made... without success.

Does anyone have any knowledge in this field and can either guide me, or send me some kind of guide, on how it was made since the furtest distance I'm able to build is roughly 300u, which isnt enough for the deposits to respawn.

Silo Status says Capacity Reaches and pipeline status says capacity reached. But there is no way to get the oxygen out of the supply depot. I see that overall storage 1250/1250. What am I missing here? Supply depot along with the gas extractor are both properly connected to the grid.

My Buddy lost his ships to a scrap bug [Bug]

So I went to scrap some ships, and my buddy joined my game. He landed on the space station, and I scrapped a ship. I noticed the ship did not disappear, and that my friend now owned the ship. The new ship that should have been scrapped took on the traits of one of his already owned ships. He decided to scrap the new ship that took on the trails of the old one. We thought this was a new exploit where we could dupe a ship, but my friend reloaded and all of his ships were gone.

However, he did get something pretty funny out of it in the aftermath shown in my comment

Is there a way he can get his ships back or are we kinda screwed?

P.S. all of my ships are fine, it’s just his I feel really bad

Mercenaries are close but I believe "Outlaw" should be it's own guild. [Suggestion]

Or a sub guilt at the least. We could evem have Hitman, Looter, Mule, Rebel as their own full Outlaw guilds.

•Hitman: Locate a special target of interest that may be willing to offer you expensive gear in exchange for either their lives or to remain hidden. Failure to comply results in muti-tool combat.

•Mule: Become the traveler that the ruling class either despises or implements to traffic contraband from system to system.

•Rebel: Fight for the small guys. Either provide a safe haven at your settlement for good willed sentinel rebels or defacto species while disputing arguments. Sometimes the most lawful choices result in retaliation or sentinel force the second you fly away.

Feel free to add more ideas. But I believe this could expand gameplay without much more than creating combative ai. Heck. Even a full new economy and buildings to pursue during settlement development.

Personally, I'd like to see a Freighter overhaul since its basicly just a base you can stuff extra cargo on as well as a mobile base. Like maybe make space pirate attacks a somewhat random event when going from system to system in it, and be able to takenthe helm to pilot the ship tontry and do broadsides for most damage. Basicly I'm asking for is controlling a frighter, and make it so either NPCs or friends could take control or weapons to deal with pirates that might attack you.

Community Earth? [Discussion]

I haven't played in a long while but i still do enjoy coming to this sub to check on new additions and builds. Recently i just saw a post on a person finding his first Earth like planet and something came to mind.

Is the Galactic Hub still a thing? What if the community go and find a Earth like planet near the center and started building on it? Imagine player made settlements, small towns, trade hubs, player made roads connecting to other settlements, ships going in and out delivering raw mats to build new structures. Where players can contribute and just chill. Idk, build a likeness of Sean and praise him lmao.

Just a thought. Would take immense planning obviously. But the thought of a buzzling planet sure does sound exciting.

Walker Brain on expeditions [Discussion]

The updates are good and all but putting the walker brain as a requirement for the conflict scanner is absolute hot garbage. Might be the worst of the worst sins of all time.

WHY?

This is why I want to move to pc and pull out the cheat engine, because FARMING GROUND SENTINELS in this games is honestly horrendous, ground combat in this game reduces from the game, it doesn't do anything good to it, either make it proped or don't, its more frustrating shooting sponges that have aimbot and the aiming in console is absolute trash (SEVERE input lag and garbage aim assist).

Hello Games, remove the ground combat from the game for god's sake.

Advice for Storage Containers? [Question]

Heyo! So... I've finally gotten around to building more than one Storage Container, only to learn that they're bigger than the friggin' prefab rooms. I can barely fit two side-by-side against a wall of a large square room, which would be ok... if they didn't clip through the wall and the ceiling (floor of the room above them). It's actually kind of ridiculous.

I'm probably gonna end up getting that base building mod so I can just make them small and store them in one room together, but in the meantime, how do you guys handle your storage?

Getting rich - the "honest" way? [Question]

Eyo. I've been loving the game for a while, but finding it somewhat difficult to make A LOT of units. So far I've been semi-RPing as a ship scrapper - got the minotaur with the sensor and essentially just spending all my time going from distress call to distress call.

Been looking for ways to get wealthier, so I can buy cooler ships and a higher class freighter.

But I want to do it - the "honest" way :D Hope that isn't offensive.

Whenever I google advice, it seems to mostly be exploits. Dupe bugs, infinite money bugs, save reloading - and while thats a legitimate tactic - I really find my enjoyment of a game gets tanked if I can just break immersion and reload my save until I get the correct freighter or whatever.

Help a girl out. I got 8,7 million at the moment and looking to get more. I've got the "Rebel star" mission, but I don't really feel like I want to take up a life of intergalactic villainy. Been multiplying Chlorine with Oxygene, but it takes forever. The ship scrapping has been lucrative, but not nearly as lucrative as I'd like.

Again I want to emphasize. You play the game however you want. For me its a zen garden (hello I have chronic stress) and I'd quite like it to stay that way. But I also want to be able to buy pretty things :D Recently splurged on an A-class fighter - which was kinda cool.

Legitimate money making tricks - no bugs or exploiting. I like the grind :D

Scanner bonuses not working? [Bug]

Hi! I've just realized that I have 3 scanner modules installed next to each other but somehow I still get 3 nanites for flora and 5 nanites for fauna discoveries.

I have it on my B class tool, is it limiting something? They all have around 8.453% bonus, but it really doesn't seem to do anything I guess?

Hey all, returning player. So ive built the first exocraft, on two different bases now. For the life of me i cant figure how to drive. I can accelerate forward, jump exit and reenter but i cant turn. I know that its supposed to be turned via mouselook, but all that does is switch the cameraangle about.

It only moves forward.

Mouse Acceleration issue on PC? [Question]

So I decided to try going back into this game after not playing for a couple of years. One of the thing I disliked back then was the whole UX. I'm happy to see that some of it was fixed and improved, but instead I'm having horrible mouse acceleration issue.

It's not even just "basic" mouse acceleration, it feels very random. If I "draw" circles with my mouse it will randomly end up going all over the place for no apparent reason. Aiming up or down also accelerate insanely fast for whatever reason.

I've tried with mouse smoothing to 0, or to other values, I don't have any frame drops (at least not when I was testing the mouse), I've tried locking my FPS to 60 or to 120, I've killed everything in the background, I've tried restarting the game, rebooting the PC, nothing seems to be doing the trick. I also have zero issues in every other game I play.

The worst part is, I don't think it was doing that for the first couple of hours. But maybe I didn't notice it?

Anyway, the TL;DR is: does anyone know how to make this game controls behave?

For reference, I'm using a Steelseries Rival 600 wired mouse with up to date drivers.

I really wish they could trim some fat off of expeditions [Discussion]

Starting from ground zero every time a new expedition comes out is so tedious. Fixing the ship, making warp cores, harvesting basic supplies, etc. is so boring at this point. Even before they started expeditions I'd done all of that like ten times already just from starting new games on my own. The actual fun content of the expedition takes so long to reach.

I wish they would just start us out with a decent amount of supplies and come up with some actually unique and interesting tasks for the first phase instead.

I seriously do not like this feature AT ALL! When sentinels attack me (not even provoked by me), there will be sentinel interceptors when I am trying to escape in my starship.

Here's how I would end the FOMO and the need of new saves for expeditions [Suggestion]

All Expeditions could be accessible from a NPC or Portal from the Anomaly. Talking with this NPC would bring out a menu for you to choose which Expedition to play. When you start an Expedition, a confirmation message pops up saying that all your inventory, multitool, ship, freighter, etc will be replaced during the expedition and you will only have access to your stuff back if you complete or abandon the expedition. Confirming the Expedition start, you are teleported to the starting planet and everything goes as it is today. At anytime during an Expedition you can abandon it and go back to the Anomaly. If you abandon an expedition all your progress is lost. When you complete the Expedition you collect the rewards, is teleported back to the Anomaly and all your stuff comes back.

I'd love some thoughts on this!

Who else unironically wants fishing? [Suggestion]

I've joked about this a couple times, but it seems like a fishing update isn't too popular. Is there anyone else who thinks intergalactic fishing sounds super fun?

I love deep fishing minigames like in RDR2 and Everybody's Golf and I think about how cool it could be in NMS everytime I swim around.

Imagine procedurally generated fish, perhaps adapted to the specific planet type. Gnarly fish on toxic planets who have weird features adapted for the noxious waters. Beautiful tropical-style fish for paradise planets. Thick, tough arctic fish. All discoverable and renameable like other fauna. Certain fish are rarer than others, and maybe even hemisphere specific or sea cave specific fish?

You could add to the cooking and crafting mechanics, provide more trade options, maybe even implement aquariums for fish you catch.

Maximizing contraband profits [Discussion]

Has anyone else noticed how selling contraband affects demand in the opposite way of normal goods? Usually selling a whole bunch of something at the trade terminal crashes the demand (and thus the price), but contraband goods actually increase in demand as you sell them.

For example, I rolled into the station with around 500 nipnip buds and sold them 100 at a time. The demand started around +3.8% and increased every time I sold more, ending up around +18% (give or take, I forgot the exact number) after selling the fourth batch.

I'll have to experiment some more after my next nipnip harvest, but I'm curious about the best way to abuse this mechanic to maximize my sales.

A Short Tutorial on Converting Galactic Addresses => Galactic Coordinates => Portal Codes [Information]

Foreword:

As this is not really a mathematics lesson, this tutorial assumes familiarity with the hexadecimal (base 16) numbering system which uses the digits 0-9 along with the letters A-F (representing decimal numbers 10 - 15) to create a single base 16 number. Any good calculator with programming functions should be able to easily make these conversions to decimal and back for you.

Although the NMS Save Editor is not required in order to convert coordinates, it is handy to use in order to read your current Universe Address or decode other internal Universe Addresses such as in the Discovery Manager data. In this tutorial I will be showing the steps for converting a Galactic Address into Galactic Coordinate string and from there into Portal Coordinates.

Method:

Inside your save file, your current location in the NMS universe is stored as follows:

I'm about 80 hours in. I don't really like base building or farming and I'm not so hot on the communities either. Mostly I just hop to a star, pop a few distress signals or secret locations, loot everything, scan what I can. Head to the nearest station and make a few trades and then off to the next star. Is there anything I can do to maximize my trips or do more? I don't have s class ships or guns and only about 50mil credits and 5k nanites. I feel like I should have more by now.

Ship Balance [Question]

Returning player here...

I see that ships now have cargo slots. Does that finally redress the balance that Haulers are kinda Meh mid to late game? Explorers have range, fighters have damage, haulers have shields... but are sluggish af...

Haulers' only real advantage was that they had loads of cargo. but other ships can just upgrade the slots using augs...

Having access to more Cargo slots than other ships would make them worthwhile finally.

Compiling a list of QoL common sense changes [Suggestion]

When in the storage, whether the freighter or the cans we should be able to access our CARGO inventory to add / remove products to / from that inventory. Constantly moving things to the standard inventory from the Cargo inventory just to move it to the Storage inventory is nonsense.

Fix the issues around the AMU, AMG, Oxygen Harvester ... anything that gets placed and requires fuel. They have a very reliable tendency to STOP working or producing anything if you leave the system (or planet?). It's pretty lame.

Allow us to remap ALL the keys for the game. Some keys just make no sense and the lack of remapping is ... silly. Get with the times. Perhaps the issue is the lack of being able to create a hotkey. Like, I want a one press key for Life Support and Shields / Hazard without going through menus constantly.

When we have Batteries and Life Support gel ... why in the hell would the game assume I want to use sodium before my batteries? Same goes for the Life Support ... oxygen when i obviously have a 'better' product? It is completely nonsense and a subpar way of game design.

Expedition 6 Common Problems FAQ [Information]

After seeing the same posts over and over about particular aspects of Expedition 6, I thought I'd write up a quick and dirty FAQ to (hopefully) save some people a few minutes of their time.

Q: Where's my base computer? I can't make a base!

A: You don't get the blueprints for the base computer until the very end of the expedition. You don't need one until then, so enjoy.

Q: Where can I find storm crystals? I need one to fix my freighter's hyperdrive.

A: You don't need to fix your freighter's hyperdrive to finish the "reach a red star" milestone. Just summon the Anomaly (which you can do after your first warp) and buy the blueprint for the starship cadmium drive from the starship tech vendor. Note you'll also need the emeril and indium drives eventually, but they can wait unless you're rolling in nanites.

Q: How do you get a walker brain for the conflict scanner?

A: If you're trying to find an outlaw system, you don't need the conflict scanner. Go buy the plans for the economy scanner instead, install it, and look for systems with a little skull next to the economy type instead of a star ranking. Those are outlaw systems.

Q: I'm missing Map Piece 1/2/3! What do I do?

A: This should be fixed in the next patch, but in the meantime if you're missing a particular map piece, turn on multiplayer and go ask around on the Anomaly. Someone can probably craft it for you. Also, since the first map piece seems to be the most common one missing, make sure you get it when you rescue the first freighter you find. If you don't, reload your game (you did save before you warped, right?) and try again. The freighter captain should give it to you as soon as you talk to him. (Also, just take the freighter... don't bother trying to get a better one, you don't really need it for anything other than hiring a squad mate.)

Q: I can't find a sunken ruin! I keep scanning and...

I found a frieghter on here that i want to try and get. From what i have googled I have to portal to the system to discover it. Then portal back and make my way there via warp.

Can i just portal to destination and warp to nearby systems before triggering the space battle?

This may sound like a huge change to the style of NMS’s gameplay and experience but IMO I think making the game immerse the player in more of a feeling of loneliness and fear would feel a lot more interesting. Anyone else? [Discussion]

I’ve been thinking what it would be like if the universe was a lot more empty, the various inhabiting species would still exist but in much fewer star systems, mainly clustered into parts of the galaxy, and long distance journeys would have to be planned, the simple ability to land on a planet and synthesise everything you need to survive and continue travelling the universe in less than an half an hour would be removed outright, much more complicated production processes would be introduced some only viable within occupied, developed Star systems, planets would become more scarce and specialised in terms of the resources it holds and the threats on the ground, the sky and space would all become more violent and unpredictable, predators wouldn’t just prance towards you asking to die, they would move fast and some would use pack tactics, in a planetary environment a little less with cinematic design in mind and more tension, huge caves that are properly dark, dense forests that allow many hiding spots for flora and fauna, weather events can also cause even tougher visibility issues or force you to traverse calmer but more closed and vulnerable environments. In space events that put even your freighter at risk should be involved, both unpredictable like pirate raids, small space faring creatures, collisions with other moving objects, Etc. and/or foreseeable events that can be avoided or added into the planning of long distance trips, like supernovae, black holes because it would make more sense if they just named the current “black holes” wormholes and made black holes a dangerous event, or pre detected large quantities of hostiles.

Base archive computer stuck in unbreakable mountain [Question]

Howdy folks.

Title is a good tl;dr, details as follow:

The base archive computer I need to activate for this iteration of that questline is just behind the skin of an unbreakable mountain. I gave up yesterday and went back today, and the mountain wasn't there, so I went back into the building, and it turns out that the mountain wasn't gone, merely invisible. So I was able to see and interact with the terminal, but doing so pulled me inside the mountain and I spent an hour trying to find a hole to get back out and couldn't. Fortunately I have a manual save that's outside so my whole game isn't borked, but it does leave me unable to complete the quest and continue the chain.

Does anybody have any tips or tricks or anything to either:

A) pass through the mountain somehow

or

B) "Reset" the quest so there will be a different archive somewhere I can access?

I'll even accept cheats as long as it won't screw up the rest of the game, since this problem isn't my fault.

Expedition 6 Outlaws: Can't target galactic core? [Question]

Hey Folks, Xbox X user here. I'm curious if anyone else is having issues targeting the galactic core. I'm loaded up with hyperdrive fuel, 500ly+ range. I've got the mission selected and I'm in the "jump out" system. Yet I still can't target / select the galactic core.

Planetary Archive - Save Point? [Question]

I’ve started a Permadeath Ironman challenge (avoid the starter ship)… after 3.5 hours I am still 11 hours from a minor settlement and 13 hours from a crashed ship.

However I found a Planetary Archive so I thought I’d base myself there until I got some cash, but I can’t find a save point there.

Is there one?

I found a waypoint about 15 minutes away but I don’t fancy the journey back and forth as I can’t find a cave in the area to stock up on ion batteries

Derelict Freighter main door [Question]

Hi... so I randomly ran into one derelict landed on got into the first door and got thourgh all PC stuff. Then when I selected Unseal Door it just goes on infinite stopwatch with "Access Requested... Additional security required.. scanning 553.9" and the time still goes up but nothing opens. Am I missing something or it is bug?

Inventory full in Creative mode [Question]

Hello, I'm a huge noob at this game (15 hours in total I think). I picked this game up again a few days ago after not playing for 2 years, so I'm still catching up with the little knowledge I picked up long time ago. I started a new world in creative mode, and it's been going really well until today. I can't seem to edit the objects or anything I place down in my base, saying my inventory is full. I can't even delete anything! I access my exosuit but there's no... inventory? Again, I am a huge noob, so I'd appreciate it if you gave me some slack! Lol

I had the same dream, but this time I did not wake up when I heard the numerical answer from Atlas. This time the dream lasted a little longer and I could see it approaching me, floating, watching me through that reddish sphere. It stops a few centimeters away from my body, immobilized by pain. After a few seconds that seem eternal, it bends down and touches the center of my chest with one of its edges. At that moment the pain disappears and I fall to the ground like a rag. I still can't move, but I don't lose sight of Atlas. His crimson eye is glowing, shooting what at first seems to me like sparkles, but no... It's not that. It's dripping. And what drips is blood. I see the thick masses of liquid form a stain on the metallic black floor. When I look up again, what is bleeding is not the eye of Atlas, but Compostellar. Then I wake up.

I hadn't thought about it until today, but in my eagerness to flee from the lack of answers that Atlas provides me, I have ended up on a planet that is horribly reminiscent of it. Can a god even bleed?

I put on my exosuit boots as dawn breaks. The celestial spectacle is beautiful. In a way, I think I will miss this planet when I leave.

During this third stretch of the road, the storms are becoming more frequent. Maybe it's a coincidence, or maybe Compostellar is getting fed up with me and that's his way of expressing it. I don't know. What I do know is that thanks to them and the deuterium-rich plants I am moving faster, since I can take advantage of the 100% efficiency of my jetpack. The temperature, which usually hovers around 21 degrees, reaches 115 degrees during heat storms. I only survive out there thanks to my reserves of sodium and sodium nitrate, which I use to charge the exosuit's protection systems....

Disappointed with 'The Settlers' side mission [Discussion]

Ok so I'm about 97% complete with the main mission. I've not done the purge mission yet because I don't want to loose what I have and restart from the beginning just yet.

Anyway I've found a settlement and have been working on it for about a week. Originally it was C class with 29% happiness, 43 settlers and with no production and high debt. I'm currently on A class settlement with 100% happiness and 901,690 units a day. All I seem to be doing at the moment is settling arguments and going on missions. Throughout the entire time the amount of settlers has been from 43-45 people. No new settlers seem to come. This side mission is literally all I've been doing for the past week.

Maybe I'm asking too much but it sucks you can't interact more with the settlers. Also some of the buildings seem like a waste of space with nothing inside.

Underwater building with entrace on the surface. [Question]

Hi,

I have just relaunched NMS a few days ago, I finally have some ressources to build a base. I started to build it underwater and I thought it would be cool to have an entrance above the water (like with a platform with solar panel, landing zone etc..).

Here is my problem, I don't know at all how to do it, every time I have water nn the building above the above it and my base is flooded and I can't put an underwater room in between the surface and the water.

Is there any way to achieve this or is it impossible ?

Are there planets that have different biomes or is each planets just one biome?

Are there planets that have 20+ animal species. The most I've some across was one with like 8 or so. And all the species I come across are pretty small.

Money and stuff randomly disappear [Question]

So I had like 2.7 mil units but after coming back to the game after some hours I only have 1.4 million. I don't remember making any big purchases. The only thing I did was exchange my multi tool for a better one (this is the first time I ever did it) and putting back some upgrades on the new Mt. I also have a manual save from just before I bought it with 2.7 mil units. I don't know if the units disappeared when I exchanged the mt, as I did not pay attention back then, but I have not done anything big since then. I know it isn't a big amount but I'm not a fan of money randomly dissapearing. Some days back I also lost some albumen pearls and I assumed that I had forgotten that I had sold them.

Has this happened to someone else? Is there a log of some kind where I can see all the spends I have done?

what's with the doors? [Question]

The doors I built in my base don't seem to work properly as when I provide power to them they just shut and don't open and won't let me thru, only way I can use the door if I leave it unpowered.

Hey all, at the start im posting this for people who have no problem with using glitches, if u are not that person just leave, thanks. Just found another fast way to make nanites or units. Theres is plenty ways how to make units so this one will show nanites. (everything is the same with this method for units but you need store/sell items in another galaxy or somewhere). Preparation will take some time, but result worth it.

PREPARATION: You need a friend or second account! That is probably the “hardest” part. But let me give you a few tips. If u have friend, his role will be just staying near your base thats all. If not, you will need second account= second console/pc. The best way is if u are playing on XBOX and have Game pass ultimate. You can download NMS also on your pc and after starting game just sign in another account or create new one. If u do not have XBOX or game pass ultimate, microsoft offer game pass for PC to new users for just 1€/$. If that is not your case you need to buy game pass 7€ i think or try cracked NMS. (Also i have some codes for game pass ultimate for very good price if anyone is interested, but lets continue) You can have 48 items in your inventory, but a few from us have that, we have upgrades etc. But if u want to maximalize profit which is around 25k per 2,5min you need delete them, but you good also with any space. This step is needed to be done just once. (You can store them for next time) You need fill your inventory witch S classes. Any S class will be good but their prices are not all the same. I have not look for all of them but Starship shield module u can sell for 500 nanites and 509 at the spacestation. ( that is one of the highest price, maybe the highest one, but not sure) You can do this also few ways: 2A: find S class on spacestation, buy it, save, reload and you can buying...

HG needs to remove outlaw status from any systems that were discovered before this update! I am pretty damn frustrated and near shutting it off for good that my system of 4 years is now an outlaw system, in-fact, near all my peaceful, bountiful planet systems with bases became outlaw. There was no reason for this, we didn't ask for this type of combat update.

Ghosts in the Machine Mission Bugged? [Question]

So, I recently returned to the game and finished up the expedition. I went back to my original save, which I didn't really play much on previously. I was in the middle of the Ghosts in the Machine mission and got contacted by Apollo, got the forcefield, then the nanites, then was supposed to go to a multitool technology trader in a Vy'keen system, well I was in a pirate controlled system and it keeps telling me to go to the Outlaw station, but there is no Multitool technology trader there, so it feels like I am stuck? Any suggestions? I tired going to other systems and stations but it keeps telling me that I have to go back to the Outlaw station.

Do you have to reach a certain part of the storyline before Settlements will spawn? [Question]

I've always enjoyed doing permadeath runs where you arbitrarily decide to skip your starter ship and just strike on foot looking for other crashed ships or trading outposts. But there are certain things you can't get without advancing the storyline, like a base computer.

I'm wondering if it's the same for Settlements. If you wandered around long enough before getting on a ship, could you eventually happen across a Settlement on an otherwise unexplored planet? Or do they only spawn in under certain conditions?

Stranded in perma death XB1 [Question]

I stranded my self in permadeath. I accidentally sold my life support gel and left without realising and landed on a planet with no oxygen and found a stranded ship. Claimed it. And now i cant call my original ship because it has no launch fuel. Literally stuck in a ship that cant fly and if i leave i die.

new method to earn units fast enough (for beginners) [Information]

I think this method is great for newcomers to the game, although it takes enough luck to do it. I came across this system where there was a planet with buried wrecks, I don't know if they are rare, and to know if the wrecks are present just scan the planet from space, in a short time I was able to recover a lot of wrecks with values ​​ranging from 200,000 to 900,000 units. (you will occasionally awaken corrupt sentries but they are not a problem) it really is a "quick" simple way to earn the first millions if you are at the beginning of your adventure and you have a bit of luck.

I've just been following the main quest, while getting side tracked by random exploring of the planets im on. Finding treasures, tech all sorts of stuff.

Getting into dog fights in space, fighting off pirates trying to jack my supplies.

No real objective in mind, just following the quest while doing the random stuff...

Sometimes I feel like I'm playing wrong and wasting time and resources...but yet...im still eager to start up my next gaming session and get lost in the universe.

Item duplication bug [Bug]

I know people were mentioning if you sell an item that's in your ships inventory, you get the money for selling it but it doesn't get taken out of ship inventory.

I think I found something similar. I was making chlorine and had a half stack of it in a medium refiner on my freighter. I took it out of the refiner and dropped it into my freighter inventory. Go back to the refiner and the stack is still here, along with a stack in the freighter. I could do that over and over adding to the freighter inventory.

I’m trying to get my friend to play nms, but he keeps dying on the tutorial. I could start him on my save, but I heard it can fuck up missions because it doesn’t know which base computer is who’s. My solution: Join his brand new save on my save to dig him a hole and give him the recourses he needs to progress until he builds a teleporter, and then go to my base. Will this work?

common bug? [Bug]

Needing a lil help here folks

Quick rundown, after the new major update me and my fiancè started new saves to hopefully choose different paths. However for her her artemis quest has bugged. She needs to calibrate her translator but the building seems to be softlocked inside a generated volcano with no access, therefore she can't complete the quest.

Someone stole my settlement? [Bug]

Been playing the new expedition all week, working on my settlement, etc. and I just finished it tonight and set up a base in a new galaxy. I returned back to my original settlement to find that it's been renamed back to the default and taken over by someone else! All my stuff is still built here, my exocraft, and all the buildings I had added, but the stats and name are reset to default and I get the "Terminal reserved for Overseer" message when I interact with the Settlement Admin terminal (but can still somehow build new buildings?). Notably, my settlement mission still points to the now-locked terminal, so it's still registering it as mine on some level.

Has anyone else run into this? I'm not sure if it was a malicious thing or just a bug.

How does pvp work in this game? [Question]

I'm doing the expedition and I went up to this guy who was farming astroids, shot 2 bullets at him, and it actually did damage. I was like oh fuck mb and flew into my freighter lmao. I'm assuming I could have killed him, and if so, are there rules to this kind of stuff? Do people ever grief? I'm assuming it's allowed otherwise it wouldn't be in the game, but what would be the point? I honestly can't find much online about this except from years ago when people were floating orbs. Also I'm assuming people can see my freighter?

I got Freedom hood on expedition save!! xbox. [Information]

To start, I really wanted to complete my pirate outfit on my expedition save and didn't want to wait til the end of expedition to do Under a Rebel Star mission. To obtain it I messed with the time on my xbox:- Create save, I like the anomaly to start. Then quit NMS. Go to settings, general, network setting, go offline. Go to settings, general, sleep mode & start up, restart now. Once restarted go to system time and move clock 5 weeks to the future.

Open NMS, you will receive exhibition complete message and save will change to Normal. Make a save.

For some reason you don't get deep space encounters while offline so we need to go back online, but doing so will revert time back. So the last save in step 5 is crucial. Quit NMS, go to settings, general, network settings, go online. Also restart same as step 3.

Load up game, you'll see save is normal mode now. When you load you get expedition message and next save while online will revert save back to expedition servers.

Pulse to encounter starship and begin Under a Rebel Star, obtaining the Freedom Hood.

Save and Load back into Expedition servers and strut around like a god.

Bad Performance [Question]

Weather it be a fresh install or lowest graphical settings, I get a solid 144 fps but as soon as anything happens in the game (loading new assets or enemies spawning) or just walking forward, the FPS suddenly tanks from 144 to 40 for about 5 seconds and then returns to normal, I have already tried changing the numhigh threads and low threads and there was no improvement whatsoever. At this point I'm almost ready to just play on ps4. But if anyone can help, Please do.

I'm scanning and mining planets for resources with the gun-tool, leaving the planet, fight 3-5 enemy ships by holding down S and firing, sell what I dont need at a space station, look at ships docking, buying stuff to refine, make money and expand inventory, repeat.

I somehow became owner of a settlement, but I'm time-gated to expand it, and it seems to not want me to build more than the 1st building I chose.

I got a massive freighter that I can upgrade and send on missions, which is passive income?

I went to a derelict freighter where I had to fight cyclop-spiders spitting acid.

That should cover the basic economy, combat, ship combat, exploration and building.

Does it expand in any of these areas?

Trident Key disappeared [Question]

End game content [Discussion]

I find my enjoyment of playing the game to be rather stunted at the moment. I'm not even that wealthy, and I only have 100 or so hours. I just feel like I'm losing purpose in my progression. My survival playthrough is totally effortless at this point, I kind of feel like a god in a semi-dead world. Don't get me wrong, the Hello Games team has done great work in their updates and I'm appreciative of that. However, the main pull of the game being "dynamic exploration" gets old rather fast. Eventually you find yourself not finding anything new, just slightly different versions of things you've seen before.

TLDR; Those of you no longer chasing riches, what do you guys spend your time doing in NMS?

What things would you like to see added to the game that would improve end game content?

Personally, I would like to see something like a mix of EVE ONLINE and NEW WORLD; in how EVE has this massive player driven economy, and New World had settlements that were governed by clans that battle it out to control the territory. I know NMS has little to no pvp, but it would be a welcome addition imo..

Have searched and managed to get rid of the constant hum but this zinging sound my god.

Help finding settlement [Question]

Hey NMS community, I need help finding my settlement. I never started my settlement. I got on when frontiers first launched and warped somewhere away from the solar system my settlement was in and now I can’t find it. I’ve warped a good 30 times towards the distress call and I have no idea how far away I am. I went to a space station to hopefully see a prompt to warp to the settlement system but didn’t see anything. Any suggestions on how I find the settlement system?

Personal Refiner taking all of my fuel only to fill 1% worth of the tank. [Bug]

Not sure if this is a bug specific to me, or if it's universal, but when fueling my Personal Refiner, it takes every last bit of Carbon and only fills the fuel by 1%.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the tech in both my tech slots and general slots to no avail.

Freighter Distress Call - Need a clarification [Question]

I need some help. I have a free capital freighter distress call in a 1 star system. I haven't done the battle yet, as i found out after a few hours of class farming I wouldn't be able to get an S. I reloaded and continued my journey. I've since warped through 40 more systems, 2 and 3 star, and haven't seen another distress call.

Do i need to portal back and decline that first one? And if so, is it going to count all the time I've spent warping, or will my 3 hour timer get reset?

Unable to rebind movement keys for exocraft [Question]

Returning player here, havnen't played in at least a year. Last time I played I was able to remap my movement keybinds and they transferred to exocraft. Now they don't and I remember this change happening with an update, not sure which.

There are no movement keybinds listed under exocraft, so it should automatically use your on foot movement keybinds but it doesnt.. It still tries to use default wasd as movement. This doesn't work for me as I rebind my movements in all video games to esdf.

With this limitation I am no longer able to play the game.

Missing Blueprints from Expedition Rewards [Bug]

I just realized today that there are several expedition reward blueprints (most notably, the Titanic Trophy) that I don't have available in my build menu. I remember claiming them, and I cannot claim them again from the quicksilver bot -- they are listed as already claimed.

Yet I don't have them.

I think what may have happened is that after claiming them, and playing for a while with just the autosave, I got stuck somewhere and ended up reloading my manual save, which was from before I claimed them. Now I don't have the blueprints, but the quicksilver store thinks I've already claimed them on this save. I didn't even notice they were missing until now, months later, when I decided to do some base decorating.

Does anybody know a way to fix this and get my rightfully earned blueprints back? I play on Xbox, so save editor is not available.

I just started messing with it and made donuts. I leave and come back and all my stuff I left in them is gone. I guess it is my fault for trusting the player base and building on a shared planets. So I'm gonna go back to isolating myself. Plus the constant bombardment from wannabe pirates was really annoying. I keep pvp off and they still try and bait the fight. If you want to pvp go play gta5 or Call of Duty instead of sneaking up on players with your icons turned off you cowards.

After being inspired by so many bases here, I wanted to make one that’s vertical and features an elevator concept. Is there some building part or method to do so? I like to build large floor-to-ceiling rooms and it doesn’t work well with ladders or stairs.

Creating smooth curved paths in confined spaces? [Question]

I have Cognitive Impairment and while I know how to create curved paths in open spaces where I don't need to care about intersecting and going around existing buildings I just can't wrap my head around applying the same method when buildings already exist and especially in tight spaces and where curves need to be at harsher angles.

Here's an example of where I want to create curves in my settlement: https://i.imgur.com/cUZZusx.jpg There are more confined spaces in my settlement than this and places that need tighter curves than this.

One of the other issues I am having is blending paths together. Sometimes I need paths to overlap (so I can hide the damn wood pallets that are everywhere) but other times I want them to blend together but even using free placement, they still overlap slightly on top of each other instead of at the same level.

Help much appreciated, ELI5, bonus cookies for anyone who can show/explain to me visually (e.g. link to video) as I learn much easier visually. TIA!!

Upgrading hauler cargo inventory [Question]

I just did all the storage augmentation farming to upgrade my hauler to +48. After putting all of them into the ship it says it’s capped out at 40+14+28, but I thought we could now upgrade further? It’s an A class hauler however I was told that the class shouldn’t matter when augmenting. What am I missing?

Stuck on No Man's Sky Press (Right mouse button) to continue [Bug]

I recently acquired No mans sky through the Xbox Game pass and downloaded it, only to be stuck on the first screen and have no way past it. The screen loads and I can hear audible ques when I click and but no visual mouse pointer to be seen.

I've restarted the game countless times and my pc too. I have even tried going in to Run and doing the whole Regedit.exe fix online and that did not work.

Question About Reloading Saves When S class Freighter Farming [Question]

So I know the method; play three hours, jump to 3 star system with freighter battle, save at space station, kill pirates, inspect freighter, repeat until S class.

From my research they say it takes 3 hours of play to trigger a freighter battle, but my question is if you quit completely and come back later does that reset your 3 hours of play so the freighter is now locked in?

I'm currently trying and for the last 10 or so reloads the freighter has been the exact same length and color. When I first got to the system and started the reloading process I swear I was getting different colors at least. But since quitting and coming back it seems like the same one every time.

I know this process can take a wile but I want to make sure I'm not wasting my time. Hope this isn't a rule 6 issue and thanks in advance.

4/29 Weekend Nexus Mission [Bug]

Has anyone encountered an issue on this weekend's nexus mission (terrestial home) where, once you get to decorating the place, one of the requirements is " : 0/2"? (Literally, its just blank.)

Can't play because of the start a settlement screen [Bug]

This "info" about starting a settlement keeps on popping up on planets right after landing and makes the game unplayable. I don't even have this mission activated (and I never intend to). Had this on two planets now and it sucks big. Is this a bug or an intentional harassment? Any ideas how to stop this? Thanks!

Giant flora anomaly worlds should be able to do more than rain. Its been years, pretty please? [Suggestion]

It's kind of unreasonable how much this annoys me, but it does. I really don't like landing on one of these planets, having the weather say "Freezing Mists" and then you land and its just... hot rain. Why? There are other weather effects in the game, just use those. I don't understand why every anomoly planet needs the same weather.

I'm just salty rn because I found a gorgeous giant underwater flora planet with a nice filter, and the "freezing mist" rain just puts me off. I wanna see a blizzard. Something new entirely would be cool, but just anything that's not superheated rain would make me very happy. I think I made a post like this years ago and it bugs me that it hasn't changed at all.

Question about Pre-Sentinel Update era multiool damage. [Question]

I have noticed over the course of the last two Expeditions that un-upgraded Scatter blaster shots from those multitools seem to kill Sentinels faster than my main save's S-Class Alien Multitool Scatter Blaster with three S-Class modules installed that i have had since before Desolation Dropped.

Feels like newer multitools even at A-Class can kill the Attack Drones in 2-3 shots while my main save's multitool can take like 4-7 shots to kill.

This is without those Repair Drone healing them, of course.

I was just curious if anyone else noticed this or if it is just me... b/c if it is just me than maybe it wont fix things just getting a new Alien Multitool(they still do the higher damage, right? or has that changed since i last Tool-hunted?)

freighter bases? [Question]

I have searched, and the only posts I can find are from about 4yrs ago, when teleporters could not be put on freighters.

I have put a teleporter and a Galactic trade terminal, but can't find a way to make it a base so I can teleport to it from a base/teleporter. I can only teleport from the freighter to anywhere else.

Is there a way to make so I can teleport to the freighter from other teleporters, or is only possible to teleport from the freighter?

Companion riding issue [Question]

Can't interact with crashed ship [Bug]

I found a crashed ship using a signal booster but when I went there I can't interact with the ship.

It doesn't even have a hotbox, I just fall through it onto the ground. I reloaded into a save after the ship had been discovered and still the same.

Shroud of Freedom glitch/bug [Bug]

Okay so for some reason i didn't get the shroud of freedom when i completed the outlaws quest so i decided to bugfix it and use a save editor, however when I went in I couldn't find the shroud anywhere so I checked the catalogue. Apparently the shroud has no category which means I can in no way shape or form get it (I can't check these boxes, they're just there to show). Does anyone know how to fix this?

Anomaly Bounty Reset Glitch [Bug]

About an year ago there was a post about quicksilver bounty reset bug, today I discovered the bug myself, and in a consistent way. Maybe I'm THAT blind and didn't see a recent post about this, but if there was a recent similar post, I apologize for reposting.

Yes I attempted to create such glitch on purpose, yes this is cheating, so if you really don't like cheating, please ignore and leave, or simply read this post for information and don't use it at all.

So here's how it was triggered:

1.Start the bounty

2.Manual save before returning to the anomaly and complete the bounty

3.Complete the bounty, which will trigger an auto save

4.Load Manual save

5.Load Auto save

6.Now you have the reward, and the bounty is back again, to

I'm still fairly new to this game, about 2 weeks in, I was taking my time on farming and grinding some other stuff, didn't realize that the quicksilver bounties are dailies and only stack up to 4 untouched bounties, so out of some desperation I looked up some quicksilver farming guide online, and the easiest way was, obviously, using some glitch. But then out of curious I thought maybe a manual save before turning in the bounty could do some even dirtier trick.

Unfortunately things didn't go they way I expected, until before leaving the anomaly, I checked the bounty board for whatever reason, and there it is, the quicksilver bounty is up again.

No Man's Sky Forever [Discussion]

Since then the game improved so much. Now we can adopt companions. Discover mountainous planets. Ride a Beetle. Have a sentinel on your side. Get a Solarship. Become a pirate! and so many other things. The game is improving with every update and I appreciate the hard work the team has done so far.

But there's a question to ask. Is the game complete? Here's what I'd like to see in game in future updates: To be able to join a civilization or a guild of any kind. IN GAME. Two years back I started building an outpost in every galaxy. I had lots of fun doing it. when I was traveling across the galaxies.. I came up with an idea. an idea of having special races for every galaxy. I mean races that can only be found and intracted with in that specific galaxy. for example aggressive races in harsh or a peaceful ones in lush galaxies. Imagine hundreds of races and civilizations waiting to be discovered. this kinda gives purpose to all existing galaxies. Cities! we got a little closer with settlements update. didn't we? To be able to own an space station. or building one. this will be a dream come true! Extremely rare exotic planets. Donut shaped ones. Ring worlds. Space habitats. etc. Reaching Stars and mining them for goodies. Dyson sphere stuff.. xD And finally. Different Biomes on a planet. with rivers, waterfalls and so on.

Possibilites for an endless game are so many!

I was exploring when I found a ship, I tried to loot it but I accidentally changed it for mine. The ship is broken and I don't have the resources to fix it. I barely played 5 hours, I was in the mission where you have to earn 90k units. How do I change back to my ship? Do I have to start a new game since I can't progress on that one?

New Outlaw Quest Bugged? [Question]

I got the coordinates from a floating solar sail ship but didn't do it right away came back after a few hours. Once I tried to find it using the galaxy map and warp to it after I warp once the green line telling me which system to wrap to next goes away....

Updated extreme storms and storm crystals? [Question]

Has anyone else noticed a change to extreme storms? I was searching for a storm crystal yesterday and found a planet with extreme storms and hopped out. No crystals. Suddenly I get a message than an "electrical event" is happening (like the wind events that sometimes happen now) and suddenly huge bolts of lightning are happening and storm crystals (that look very different than before) start appearing. I harvested a few but my game froze (PS5) before I could get back to my ship and save. Waited through two more night/day cycles and three more extreme storms and no storm crystals whatsoever, nor any more "electrical events".

bugged out living ship quest. help? [Bug]

So let me preface this with, I'm dumb for doing this.

I started playing this game on playstation but recently swapped to PC. I gave my PC account a void egg I brought on my PlayStation account and began the quest. I forgot this was my first egg and travelled through a portal to a system I saw on r/nmscoordinateexchange

I flew around, got the ship to give my coords in another system, went there, and found the planet I needed to go too. The egg pinned a spot on the planet for me to land, so I went there. It told me to land and look around, so I did. There's no ship there, I have looked high and low but I can't find anything.

The quest step something like "planet signature matches the void egg" or something like that.

I unfortunately did not make a manual save before starting this and I have definitely done a couple auto saves since. I have reloaded the auto save several times and traveled to another galaxy and came back. I even tried to delete the egg and use a new egg to restart the quest, but the quest won't restart/reset (I reloaded an auto save to undo the last step just in case I do actually need the egg).

I have seen a couple people in the same situation as me, but I have yet to find anything useful that doesn't just say to do a manual save before starting (which it's already too late for). What do I do/how do I fix this? Am I just unable to get a living ship on this account? Help.

Changing the unknown [Suggestion]

I like thinking about what it is that excites us in game mechanics. Ive spend my hours lost in this game, I remember in the first year, playing somewhere in the winter and turning down my heating to immerse myself more in the vastness of this universe.

Lately I’ve been thinking back to this initial excitement of discovering. Now as anyone who has spend a long time in this game knows some aspects of it do become a bit repetitive and you start to have expectations as to what lies in all these undiscovered regions.

So I had this idea: what if there is this promise of change in these unknown regions. The essence of this game to me is exploration, so what if a tiny portion of the planets that no players have discovered yet where to change.

I would like a promise of some things that are almost certainly never going to be discovered so the drive to keep exploring is endless.

Things so rare that they are actually difficult to reach. They would take time and preparation and feel like a journey. The trip can be a goal in itself and doesn’t require a reward.

Since a large part of the player base has probably somewhat maxed out their capital, ships and equipment these journeys could be a next chapter. Maybe some of the gathered wealth and resources could be converted in some necessary materials for those journeys without it leading to a system of too much grinding.

So I’m talking about adding stuff on a tiny portion of the existing planets.

Here’s my idea:

These planets, so remote and desolate that the only way to discover them would be through

Purely accidental discovery

a new very uncommon item: a ‘very rare historical document’ (a variation on the existing artefact) to be obtained in large artifact craters, on derelict freighters or maybe very very rarely through random space encounters via alien traders. I think the best things in NMS are the most...

Given an egg by a hacker(?) [Question]

So I was building a base on the Galactic Hub capital planet when another player lands next to me and gives me a companion egg. That’s all good, but the weird thing was that instead of getting back in their ship they mounted a giant bird and flew away. I thought that was amazing until I realized you normally can’t tame birds like that.

If I hatch the egg and it’s a hacked bird will it mess up my game?

What am I doing wrong? [Question]

I’m new to this game and I’m sort of stuck. I’m trying to add the hyperdrive upgrades for the different stars. I bought the blueprints at the anomaly but where do I build it? When I go into the technology for the ship, I only have the option to build the cadmium drive. I currently have the emeril drive and I’m trying to get the next one.

I’m inside the ship, go over to technology and install, then I only see the cadmium drive. I’ve restarted and verified files. Thanks in advance for any help.

Making money as a Pirate [Information]

So, first off, you're going to have to pick one of the factions you're ok being neutral or lower with.

Then find a Black Market system ran by Said faction, for me it was a Vykeen Black Market system.

Then call your freighter to said system and proceed to destroy every single freighter convoy that warps into the system.

They will be carrying the standard freighter cargo, but also a lot of illegal goods and fuel for freighter expeditions.

After a while you should have a couple stacks of each illegal good, put Them in your main freighter cargo, not your ship.

Then warp to a lawful system and sell it all at a mark up from your freighter, because the sentinels will scan you, but not your freighter!

Alone amidst the stars bugged [Bug]

I've encountered a game breaking bug doing this mission.

After triangulating i'm told to go into space to receive the location of the holo transmitter.

​

When going to the location it's spawned inside an indistructible mountain with red squares everywhere that I think might be missing textures. The terrain manipulator and the mining laser has absolutely no effect.

​

Because I can't interact with this transmitter I can't progress. Also because of the games shitty save system I can't go back to an earlier save like you can in other games.

​

I've tried quitting, restarting the xbox and loading the game again but it didn't help.

​

Anyone else encountered this and know of a fix?

Bug - Space encounters not happening at all? [Bug]

Hey, I'm trying to progress some missions that require me to trigger space encounters. Freighter Assault in a pirate system as well as Starbirth. No matter how long I pulse drive, it's not triggering any encounters whatsoever. I feel like I'm going insane. My last manual save was 2 days ago, so I'd prefer not having to reload if I could afford it. Does anyone have any advice here?

Wish me luck! S-Class Freighter Hunting Today [Discussion]

On my permadeath save and when I got my free freighter during this playthrough; I decided to go with an A-class instead of spending the effort and time to hunt for the S class version with the understanding that if/when I happen to warp to a system with another cool freighter later down the road; I’ll worry about S-class hunting then.

Today appears to be that day. Did the first two jumps to make sure I can find my way back to the system (it’s 1,416 LY away so it can disappear into a sea of stars very easily.) and now on the verge of clearing out my current freighter.

Let’s hope I get lucky in under an hour!

An idea for resources [Suggestion]

First: I love this game, getting addicted to it I presume.

This is just a proposal: since I'm the "roaming explorer"-type I do not really track how many bases I have and do not remember all the details. But, what happened to me some times now is that I went to mine a resource (shown in the scan) just to see, that I already did this maybe weeks or days ago.

It would be nice to be able to see if a particular resource in a particular place has been mined already or to what level it has been depleted.

Stuttering Problem On PC Game Pass [Bug]

Im very new to this game. So early on in the game, i encountered a freighter under attack. Upon saving the freighter, my curiosity led me to choose the reward instead of keeping the freightor. Now, several hours later, ive encountered several freighters under attack, but none of them offer me the freighter. Is there any way to get the free freightor, or is that possiblility gone now

Easy exotic ship grab! [Information]

Did you know that if you warp into a system and there is a freighter battle going on you can get an exotic spawn at the space station immediately after killing the pirate raiders? I kill them off then answer the communication then head straight to the space station. Happens almost every time, only once from 10 tries it didn't.

New Project: NMS Sun Temple [Build]

This isn't finished yet (50%), but overall structure and some details are done. There will be underground rooms and locations to explore. I really want that to be fun to walk through and discover places and details. I still need to find a neat way to attach the landing pads.

Nexus Mission and Anomoly Bugs [Bug]

Hellow fellow Travellers,

Today has been annoying to say the least. Twice today the Anomoly has bugged upon trying to enter, I got stuck at the green portal between the main Anomoly opening and the inside space. This has caused me to lose Nexus mission progress and I truly believe its stupid that we have to complete the Nexus missions in one session...

To clarify, I am on an Expedition save in Galaxy #90 (where it takes you after completing E6.P5) and the Nexus missions always take me to Euclid)

The first Nexus mission was to build an outpost somewhere far away, easy right? Yes but no, one of the build objectives didn't display on my HUD nor did it highlight which pieces to build in the build menu.

So I saved and reloaded thinking that would work, nope. All progress gone and positioned back where I started because "position not saved in multiplayer" but I was doing it solo? Attempted the same mission again and got it done, this time it worked flawlessly, summoned and landed successfully on the Anomoly, handed in mission, 1200 quicksilver, hell yeah!

Second mission was to find and kill 15 Hazardous Flora, easy peasy no problem, go to the location, find the grave, look for and kill said flora. Mission complete "Return to Space Anomoly to hand in mission" so plopped down a save point, I left the planet, got far enough away to summon the Anomoly but this time I flew in, went to land and just as I was about to touch down, it bugged out and flung me 1800'U outside the anomoly but I was still technically inside it as I could see player icons moving around and ships coming and going, okay so I reload my save thinking because I had completed it but didn't turn it in, all I had to do was turn it in, right? NOPE. It put me straight back to the instance I was in before I accepted the mission but I still kept my inventory progress because again "position not saved in multiplayer."...

Escaping sentinels in Outlaws? [Question]

How does one escape a highly escalated Sentinel battle now that you can't jump in your ship without spawning attack ships?

Accidentally got into a very heated surface fight on a new save, tried to run but immediately got swamped by wave after wave of sentinel interceptors. Couldn't land, eventually got overwhelmed.

It seems like it's now really hard to actually end a combat with the Sentinels once it's started. Am I just missing something?

The design of NMS annoys me sometimes. [Discussion]

Don't get me wrong, NMS is easily one of my favorite games, but sometimes I do wish that it was different. I kinda wish that planets where further apart and actually orbited, that the sky (in space I mean) was a solid black with galaxy's spread in it, not the coloured version it is now, and a lot of smaller other things that (in my opinion) would make the general experience better. I get that it's not a simulator of space, and it never should be, but I do wish it was a bit more realistic sometimes. Idk, what do you guyes think.

So I built a mining outpost and found an electromagnetic field to power it, but it's not letting me connect the power to it no matter how close I build the batteries to each other (a straight line to the mining outpost), did they get rid of the ability to do this??? Cant find rendezvous point 3 - blight expedition [Question]

Hello,

excuse my noobishness, i have not played NMS since release and im enjoying it very much. However, i seem to have gotten stuck at phase 3 of the expedition. I followed the expedition route on the galaxy map like i did the first 2 points but i cant seem to get a marker or any indication on what to do to get to the rendezvous point. It might be something small that i am overlooking, like a button that i need to press or someone i gotta talk to but i really dont think that i missed anything. I even restarted the game multiple times and reloaded an older savepoint thinking it might be a bug.

How to build stairs easy? [Question]

I try to build a "normal" house. In the 4x8 Entrance Room there should be a small stair to the upper floor on the left side. If I out a stair at that place I am not able to put any tile underneath it or just at the end of the stair on the upper floor. The tiles just won't grab on to the other ones around. Anyone run into the same problem?

A question to hello games [Question]

Hi Devs, So is it possible to maybe change the biome so to speak, i.e. in robust economic solar systems have actual cities and more diverse wares merchants, in hostile areas make the inhabitants actually the issue not the sentinel, and add some more diversity to the fauna (yes I understand that the creatures are RNG, but there still seems to be a somewhat limited “pool of options” for the algorithm to draw from.) just asking if future updates may have this potential. And can we add an option to creative mode to turn (hostile environments on) since no trophies/achievements can be earned it would be fun to be able to turn that on and off at leisure. Thanks for all your hard work! I have been with the game since day one launch on PS4 and have loved your creativity and constant improvement!!!

Planets around galaxy center. [Information]

If you use the left stick to maneuver close to the galaxy center you will see planets orbiting it. As a bonus if you make the transit while you see the system the usual galaxy exit and entrance scene is completely gone. You see a blackscreen until you respawn on the planet in the new galaxy.

What items does class really matter on? [Question]

I’m looking around on the wiki and trying to determine what things like ships or multi-tools does class matter upon purchase. There’s ways to upgrade ships and multi-tools and frigates upgrade as they do missions.

So what things do I need to be watching out for the class on when I pick them? Does a higher class ship just save you the expense of turning something into a higher class ship over time?

I haven’t seen a way to upgrade the freighter class, so I can see where someone might want to buy a better one if they came across it. I’ve also been told that the fuel consumption of frigates is something to watch when getting new ones.

I just want to make sure I’m not sinking money into trash stuff I’d want to replace later, but if it’s something I can pay to improve to max then that’d make decisions easier.

40 hours in ... and I still haven't left my starting planet! [Discussion]

and I swear that this planet doesn't want me to leave ...

First, it's gorgeous, this is literally my first ever NMS screenshot, 5 minutes in:

Then, it's a billion units planet. it's got thousands of caves and each one is full of Albumen Peas (that sell for 5k each), this was my inventory as was preparing to leave for the first time:

But then it kept giving me even more valuable resources like chlorine and glowing crystals and, each time I'm about to leave, I find something even more valuable/interesting.

In the first few hours I found: 2 crashed ships (1 b class explorer, 1 b class solar) 1 crashed freighter Lots of monoliths a Portal (which I haven't explored yet) 3 Sentinel pillars 3 drop pods

But that's not all, as I was finally about to leave for good, I got a quest to raid 5 resource depots .... as I was on my way to my latest sentinel pillar!

So I deactivated the sentinels and got into a frenzy of roaming the world frantically to raid everything that I could find that would otherwise have been protected by sentinels ... so in the span of an hour I found: 6 resource depots 2 more crashed freighters 1 more crashed ship 2 more drop pods

I was still in the middle of raiding without sentinels when I ended my last session but now my inventory and 25 slots shuttle are filled with rare minerals (that sells for anything from 25k to 100k a pop) and I went...

Hear me out.. Eclipses [Suggestion]

You know what could be cool? A simulation of eclipses. Different types of eclipses: total, partial, annular. It would be so beautiful. It can be a social activity. If you can predict when an eclipse is coming, you can share the coordinates with people and log in at the same time to go see it. There are not enough fun social things to do in this game. Special events. When the eclipses happen, animals can go crazy or storms can happen, or some special enemies could appear. Eclipse chasing. Just fly around trying to stay in the eclipse zone.

Is it normal for my fleet to get damaged every expedition? [Question]

I only ever do 1 or 2 star expeditions with S class ships and my freighters get damaged practically every time. I’ve done 33 expeditions and 19 of those one of my ships has been damaged. I think it must have been one of the updates because I’ve had damages every expedition recently.

Strange Expedition Find [Question]

So I was debriefing a frigate expedition and one of the things that came up was something like "Stellar luminance appeared to change rapidly. Appeared to be repeating the signal '16 16 16 16'" I didn't catch it until too late so I don't know if that's exactly what it said

Void Egg Refusing to Show up in Quicksilver Merchant's inventory, help! (Also looking for gifting/trading of one) [Question]

Hey everyone, I'm at my wits end. The void egg doesn't appear in the quicksilver shop for me. I've gone through several threads trying their fixes, I'm online with discovery active, have no issue getting multiplayer missions, and yet there isn't a void egg for purchase.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them. I'm also at the point where I'll trade with a player for one if they have an extra unactivated egg.

Do launch thruster modules drop anywhere, or do you have to buy them? [Question]

So far I've never found one from: Scrapping ships Damaged Machinery Buried Caches NPC encounters

I don't yet know if they can come out of suspicious packets; haven't really opened that many. I do know you can get C-class ones from killing traders on those outlaw-system missions, but that's the only place I've ever seen them drop.

If you've found them as a drop or reward from anywhere, where did you see it? Thanks. :)

i love nms, but ReShade doesnt work for me.

ive tried so much, idk if its even supported anymore.

we need an official fix. i get that there are going to be issues implementing it, but i hope it gets done.

the only thing preventing the game from being beautiful is the horrendous jaggies.

Jaggies = the flickering angled lines in the ground. especially noticeable in a space station.

its either own a 4k system with super sampling or we're stuck with FXAA

expedition progress carryover? [Question]

I'm doing the community expedition and have been unlocking a bunch of stuff. My main thing is I play on a only 1 save file and already have a bunch of progress on it and almost 100 hours. Will whatever cosmetics i unlock (starship trails, jetpack trails, etc.) carry over? I feel like I have a work around for materials gathered and rewarded but it's mostly the cosmetic things I'm wondering about I don't want to have to continue this save just to keep them.

Bug where Interact/Use disappears? [Bug]

Hey guys, I'm new.

Playing on an iphone with xcloud and a controller.

Yesterday I was trying to do the expedition following Xaine's guide. At the end of "Treasure Hunt" with the multiple chests you have to open to open the final chest.

I dug them all out, but when I went to look at them there was no popup saying "press x to open"

I walked around like an idiot for 10ish minutes going to each one trying to figure it out.

Then I summoned my ship and couldn't even get back into the ship because, again, no little button popup with "press x to enter ship"

Is this a known bug, is this something specific to xCloud, is this something I should report somewhere? I was streaming at the time, so I should have video of it as well, I can try to look back and see where/how it first happened.

Stuck [Bug]

So I love this game, but I’m stuck. I am on the First Traveler Mission. I entered the portal to a strange planet. Ship was damaged. I repaired one thing wrong, but had to go to bed, so plopped a save point down and saved. When I come back next day, ship is gone. Disappeared. The ship icon is still there but the ship is gone. I don’t have a freighter. Can’t summon the ship. Don’t have a portal. Don’t have another save before portal. I tried reloading, didn’t work. I tried intentional dying, didn’t work. I don’t really want to start over on my main. I need to get off this planet. What do I do?

VR controller support broken? [Question]

The VR controls for flying your ship are pretty bad, and before the outlaw's update I was able to use an xbox controller while playing in vr on my pc to fly my ship. But as of the newest update the game does not respond to my controller while I'm in vr anymore. doe's anyone know a fix or has this been done on purpose?

Is it possible to obtain the Shroud of Freedom through NMS Save Editor? [Bug]

Recently i have been tampering with the save editor to try things out through several saves, and a little through my main Normal mode save (I'm pretty used to using the editor as i have been using it for a few months now) However just recently i try to change my customization on my character in game at the space station and i realize the Shroud of Freedom hood is locked for me. I already did the questline to unlock it a while back, first day of the new update actually, but now its suddenly locked and I'm pretty sure it has to do with something I did in the editor. Is there any way to unlock it through normal game means like triggering the questline again or any way through the save editor?

As far as I'm aware, the save editor by goatfungus hasn't been updated for Outlaws so that's why I'm asking this.

Viewing Milestones in a Completed Expedition Save? [Question]

Hi folks, I'm unable to find the Milestones tab in my Expedition save, despite having completed the Expedition and receiving the notice stating it would be converted to a normal save.

Did it simply not convert for whatever reason? I've played both online and offline (via Multiplayer toggle in Options -> Network) throughout the Expedition, in case that's significant.

Also, I'm playing the Xbox Game Pass edition on PC and am not using any mods.

Can you guys share some details about acquiring necessary resources after the initial grind? [Question]

TLDR: I've read that in no man's sky the grind has been reduced to the point that you only have to do it for the first 10-15 hours. Does that mean that after the first 15 hours I can just fly around the galaxy doing quests for npcs, fighting pirates, and discovering exotic animals?` Will that actually earn me enough money to buy all the fuel and ammo I need? I don't want to spend any more time standing next to rocks listening to the laser go buzzzz. And creative mode obviously isn't an option considering the activities I mentioned above.

I was one of the people who was really excited for the initial pitch for no man's sky. I loved the earliest interviews with sean murray where he spent all his time describing it as a game about exploration. Resource collecting and crafting were mentioned as afterthoughts originally.

Then of course the game comes out and it turns out that in fact it was the procedural generation that had been the afterthought, and instead they spent all their time developing grinding systems. It was a game where you spent 90% of your playtime standing next to rocks listening to your laser go buzzzzz.

And the modes were the biggest insult imaginable. They completely removed damage from the creative mode so you could never engage in any survival or combat of any kind. It was so unbelievably mean and spiteful.

What's the point of doing quests for npcs without the occasional hazardous environment to survive? What's the point of fighting pirates if there's no chance of them ever killing you? What's the point of finding exotic life forms if none of them ever pose a risk to you?

Finding valuable resources should still be meaningful too, but you should be able to collect them instantly when you discover them, and they shouldn't be required just to fly your ship around and play the game....

I think I maybe broke an important storyline?? [Question]

Ok, so I was doing the base building storyline, building construction terminal with a gek stationed there, then a science terminal then a Weapons terminal, going along nicely. Got distracted by a side mission, built some more bases, thought I’d build another terminal, thought “hmm seeing as have another terminal Ill need to hide another gek!”

I did, now I realise that he replaced my original gek (who was introducing me to farming and wanted me to go get solarium). More when I approach him, the game just says “I should let him get in with his business”.

I feel like that storyline teaching me how to build farming stuff has ended by an unexpected action on my part, and aren’t sure now if I can continue down the farming line? Any help/advice would be appreciated!!

Very new to the game, but it seems to have taken over my life…

Freighter rescue rewards? [Question]

Hey, just confused here. I got my freighter long ago, so this question isn't about that. When I rescue freighters, the captain will chime in and ask me to come in, at which point I can either offer to buy the freighter or just ask for payment instead. However, this doesn't seem to happen all the time, and sometimes even after I respond to the communicator call and dock with the freighter I don't get the option to ask for payment. Is this a bug, or intended behaviour?

Extremely Strange Pet [Question]

In one of the exotic planets with the weird light refraction and giant flora, I found a pet that was really novel. I'm used to finding pets that look like the same old stuff. Sometime you find something that looks cool, but they're all built from the same parts usually.

The other day I found a flying fish. I'd never seen one before, so I tamed it. Today, I saw something that looked kind of like one, but more jellyfish or bloblike. After I tagged it, I noticed there was a plume of smoke surrounding me. I went to check where it came from and it was the flying fish. It let out a long trail of exhaust whenever it moved. I'd never seen anything like this before. Naturally I tamed it and rode it around for good measure.

Screenshot below. It's hard to see the pet, but the exhaust plume is very obvious. Has anyone else ever seen these things?

About settlements and a specific choice [Question]

I just now got an option to let a settler into my settlement who’s claiming to be a “professional baker” it takes all my maintenance away so I’m now at 0 maintenance per day which is awesome. However this doesn’t end here, I got a positive a +1 to population as you would think would happen. But here’s where it changed. I saved before making that choice and reloaded to test the unknown option and when I did, it said “suspected hostile spy -50,000 productivity per day” I’m not sure which is the better option. Help is really appreciated here.

No Man’s Sky Space Combat: Terrible for Beginners [Discussion]

I have actually begun to dislike playing No Man’s Sky following changes to the way space combat behaves. I’m a newbie to combat in games in general and play NMS mostly for the exploration rather than for the 5 vs 1 pirate encounters.

What’s become incredibly obvious to me is that space combat is an integral part of the game as a large part of it is locked behind combat. This would be great… if it wasn’t so incredibly hard for beginners.

The fact that I do virtually no damage (since it’s a new game and I have never engaged in combat until I recently had to) while having my ship obliterated by five enemies at once isn’t “challenging” or “engaging”, it’s just plain annoying. Spinning around in circles while having my ship screaming “shields down” as I’m shot over and over again has genuinely begun to ruin the experience for me and makes me feel like I can’t progress as pirates again and again make me shell out units by either killing me or making me pay.

I’m frustrated with how the system is for newer players because it feels genuinely unfair. Do any of you have any tips aside from “get good” and is this just a genuine issue with the game?

under a rebel star mission issues [Question]

hey people. i have an issue with the "under a rebel star" mission. as soon as i saw that bloody hood i knew i wanted it on my traveller, so naturally i did the mission. i did all the steps up until the final step that should have said go to the directed station a scan the forged passport. that's the step that unlocks the outlaw hood and cape. but... it didn't give me the prompt. i didn't get any direction of where to go, and when i came back in my next session, the mission was just gone. i don't have the hood or cape, i still have the forged passport, and i can't encounter the mission anymore. can you redo the mission, is there another way? please help :(

No Mans Sky team attack bug [Bug]

I've been playing online with some friends, and when I'm in my Exocraft Minotaur mining or attacking sentinels, the shots are somehow hitting my friends. This happens no matter where they are. Different planet, space stations, anomaly. Anywhere.

They'll just be standing there taking damage as if someone is shooting them. When I stop mining/shooting, they stop taking damage.

Is this a known issue? Is there a fix for this?

During Expeditions, most bases have no power [Question]

So I'm doing the latest expedition & a LOT (like 90%) of the bases I go to have nothing powered. I've seen ones worth solar panels & think "oh, I'll just wait until daylight & they'll open up & power this base." Nope, says they aren't connected even though I can see the power lines. Help! Just logged on and my base is now underground! [Question]

So I was playing last night found an electromagnetic power/oxygen/copper deposits all within 150u of each other. I set a base up in the middle, built the generators and the extractors connected them to a depot and then made sure they were all powered, after checking it was all working and well I saved and logged off for the night. I log on today and my entire base is now underground under the sea (previously was on a massive land mass, no water nearby) EVERYTHING is underground the deposits my generators, excavators supply depos!

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this or if this is just somehow I broke something or found a shifting planet…

What do you think about these update suggestions? [Suggestion]

  1. Do you think we'll be able to use some of the decorations any time soon? Would be really nice if you could use the lockers, cupboards and cabinets. Maybe just a few slots in a locker but that would help to make the environment much more immersive. A fridge where you can store your cakes.

  2. What about the ability to pickup common plants and trees from any planet and care for them in your base? We already have some planting pots. Why not breeding some dangerous flesh eating plants? Or the ability to harvest carbon or oxygen from the already existing pots. Why aren't we able to take eggs, milk, etc. from our pets as soon as we adopt them? That would be a really nice feature. On the other hand you could decide what to do with the egg of your pet. Breed it or cook it.

Can't summon crashed ships anymore [Question]

So I haven't played NMS for about a year, and I remember being able to claim the damaged ships and then summon them at your base and use the portal to go to the station and scrap/sell them. Expedition 6 Rendezvous 5 not triggering? [Question]

So I've completed everything in Expedition 6 up to Treasure Hunt and am at the portal. I have tried every combination of things to activate the portal, including doing the exact same things as ppl did in videos, and when I go through, Rendezvous 5 doesn't activate as completed for me...it just still says I need to step through the portal. I've reloaded my save several times, same result multiple times. Any advice? I have a bad feeling I'm bugged and can't finish the expedition :(

I started a new game on the Outlaws update just for the fun of it.

I've just got to the Anomaly and discovered that some, but not all, of my previously earned Twitch and Exhibition rewards are just not in the list at the Quicksilver merchant any longer. Some are still there though, so this seems like a bug.

For example, I don't have the Sparse Horizon helmet in the list any more but I do still have the Golden Vector from the same exhibition.

I also only have 3 of the first 5 Twitch switchs I earned, 3 of those multi-tools etc and am missing some of the unlocked reactions etc.

Can somebody else who earned all of the rewards verify if this is also happening to them?

Trying to do the weekend quicksilver mission and I don’t know what to build? [Bug]

I know the mission is supposed to tell you what it wants you to build in the lower right corner however all I have is the “under a rebel star” quest and it’s saying that I triggered a distress beacon and there an unknown number of sentinels.

no full screen option and no fsr option [Bug]

my display is locked to only borderless or borderless windowed in the settings, i tried editing settings file but it gets reverted right away.

and i've been looking for amd fsr option but i havent been able to find where it is, i checked a video and it's not in the settings page they show it is

A few questions about spaceships. [Question]

I have some questions about the ships that land in the stations.

Are they just randomly spawned ships or does each system have its own number of ships and there will be no new ones?

Are the ships that we encounter in space and above the planets able to land in the stations or is it just decoration? And so for example I just saw an exotic ship passing over me on my planet, if I wait in a station can I find it and buy it?

Game freezes for 2 seconds, then massive FPS loss [Question]

Hey guys,

I've returned to the game after quite a while and am encountering a really annoying problem:

The game runs great (with the usual occasional stutters), but sometimes, the game will freeze for 2-3 seconds (sometimes accompanied by a white screen). After that, the frame rate drops to what feels like 10-15 fps permanently. Restarting the game turns it back to normal.

Does anybody know what causes this/how to fix it? I've tried searching, but the info I found deals with frame drops/stuttering.

I've already tried setting the threads to 0 in the config, that did not help. I'm running Windows 10 with a AMD Ryzen CPU and a AMD RX 5700 XT.

About flora/minerals and fauna on planets. [Question]

I know that once you start to explore a planet there comes a quest which sends you off to explore every inch of the planet. For instance, I have a planet with water and numerous caves, essentially it’s an earth planet. My question is I’m stuck at 26/28 flora and 18/22 minerals. I’ve done the fauna cause they are basically given to you in the exploration guide. Any tips on how to find these missing entries?

What’s everyone’s favourite type of ship? [Discussion]

Was just curious to everyone’s favourite ship type, whether aesthetically or practically. Personally, I love haulers, ever since I’ve gotten a lovely looking A-Class one. Having like 48 slots is just so convenient, and really high shields make up for the lack of mobility. However this probably isn’t the same way other people might see it so, wanted to hear your opinions and choices.

Figurine /bobblehead worth getting - impacts hyperdrive range [Information]

Discovered this quite accidentally while trying to figure out some base hyperdrive ranges. But apparently the atlas figurine adds about 50ly hyperdrive range. Here's a ship I was building without the figurine:

The atlas bobblehead / figurine does this, the only other bobblehead I've been able to test this with is the Nada one, which doesn't appear to do anything.

Nice little attribute to this particular item. Not really significant compared to an s class upgrade, but adds a little.

Weird planet [Question]

So one day i was paying nms and saw a white looking planet, but as soon as I entered the atmosphere i just died even tho I was inmy spaceship and wasn't able yo find that planet ever again because i respawned in another solar system. Do you know what kind of planet was that or it was some kind of glitch?

How Solar Sail Ship Spawning Works [Information]

Solar ships work differently than other ship type spawning. They use override percentages to replace the older ship types in a system.

In non-outlaw systems, there is a 10% chance for any shuttle to be replaced with a solar sail ship. So you can have up to 7 solar models in a normal system, though you usually won't have more than one or two.

In outlaw systems, there is an 85% chance for any shuttle to turn into a solar and a 10% chance for non-shuttles to turn into a solar. The exotic can not turn into a solar; it will stop spawning completely if it rolls the 10%. You can have up to 20 solar models in an outlaw system.

CPU Usage - Update [Discussion]

Just cross posting here to ask a question, and also share the info for anyone else who has this issue.

For context ( CPU usage : NoMansSkyTheGame (reddit.com) )

TLDR, - i5-7600k overclocked to 4.8ghz, 1660ti unplayable due to CPU utilisation constantly pegged at 95%, constant stutter, tried all the recommended fixes from the helpful people in the thread cross-posted above, nothing solved the issue.

Cracked version (GOG) - buttery smooth. I wanted to buy the game to support the Devs, especially how they have performed one of the greatest turn arounds in recent video game history, and not charged a single fee for any of the mass updates they have put out. However something with the retail copy of the game just brought my system to its knees. Original and cracked version were exactly the same game version, executable same version, only difference being the cracked executable being smaller in file size.

Im not condoning piracy per say, but it makes an interesting point of discussion. I had the same experience with RDR2 - non Denuvo - cracked version significantly less stutter plus an extra 8-12 FPS. I know NMS doesn't use Denuvo, but again an interesting point of discussion.

My game crashes every time I leave my starship. [Question]

After a 3rd attempt of doing my daily stuff with my mines, I got in my starship and flew to a station. Every time I get out my game crashes. I have had the same problem getting out of my ship on planets aswell.

is my game corrupted or am i just really unlucky with a bug?

Settlement always “A” Class [Question]

No matter what I do, my settlement is stuck at “A” Class.

It was “S” Class before, but some months ago it went down to “A” and now it is stuck.

Maintenance cost is 0 Production is 1 mil Population is 96 No debt

Any suggestions in how to make it go up to “S” Class?

Base computer not working properly [Question]

So im in the 'Awakenings' part of the game, and its asking me to Investigate Base Computer Archive and build the Construction Research Unit, but its not letting me. I keep going to the base computer but theres no option to 'Investigate' it, it just says the usual "Upload, Delete, Etc" base.

And the Construction Research unit is not there in my build menu. How can I fix that?

Re-rolls [Suggestion]

Literally all of the things on my wish list have manifested in updates at this point, and I’ve been playing like a madman since the two combat updates. Although I’d always love to see more depth added to the existing elements, something new I would love to have in this game is a way to upgrade my freighters class similar to upgrading your starship or multi-tools class.

I love my ships and tools, and buying some beautiful (or enchantingly ugly) plucky little C class and turning it into a finely tuned S class is one of my favorite activities and drives my play a lot more than exploring looking for a tool with great stats

And for all three ships, tools, and freighters an option to re-roll storage slots would be incredible. I get we can add inventory slots but if the cap could be altered in some cost prohibitive way I think it would be a great endgame activity. Let me keep my beloved equipment and still get the maximum storage and stats both.

Any thoughts on this? Would it ruin the call of exploring for equipment and reduce it to just searching for cosmetics? If you do think it’s a good idea how would you like to see it implemented? Should it be expensive or involve going through an activity of some sort?

Is anyone else having issues with building? I've built a few bases lately and each time I've ran into a spot or two where no matter what I do I can't get a piece to snap into place. Like creating a floor and one corner won't snap in even though the walls are in place and the other two pieces of the floor are there.

Can’t connect to Multiplayer [Question]

can I play the story even if I started a new game doing the expeditions? [Question]

I have an old save I haven't played on in forever so I figured Id start a new game for the update, I chose on the expeditions tab and started a new game, now I'm doing all the pirate stuff and whatnot. But will I also be able to play the story as well? I already have stuff unlocked that usually the story would give you and I'm not sure how it all works. Freighter battle did not give free freighter [Question]

I got into a pirate battle when I warped into a system (my 5th warp I think), defeated them, but got no communication message from the freighter :( Was this a bug? Does this mean i would lose out on the free freighter?

This was my first such experience, so can anyone tell me the next time I can get an opportunity to win the freighter. Also any tips to get a good free freighter?

Salvaged Frigate Module drop rate nerfed? [Question]

Been running derelicts, crashed freighters, and every industrial mission I can get my hands on for a week, and no dice. Am I just super unlucky, or did these things get scarce as hen's teeth?
