Noob Question regarding expedition rewards [Question]

I have recently gotten some expedition phases completed on my expedition save file and I wasn't sure how to unlock it on my main save and I'm to afraid to collect it on my expedition save yet.

If I collect it on my expedition save is it unlocked for every save or is there something else I need to do?

Getting really discouraged ATM that I have this major bug. I love making bases ever since Foundation, but this bug forcing me to not being able to expand past 300u anymore is really irritating and discouraging - particularly for needing proper power supplies to my newfound locations.

Yes, I try reloading - doesn't work. I try quitting out of the game and reloading... still doesn't work.

Was really hoping that the Sentinel update patch would fix this... but nope, still isn't.

Anybody else have this problem? Thx much in advance!

Playing on PC for the first time since release day. My thoughts. [Discussion]

I bought No Man's Sky a few days after release PC through Steam. I didn't have the most powerful PC, but it was over minimum spec for the game so I was expecting to be able to play. I installed it over night due to my slow internet speed and excitedly jumped into the game the day after. Needless to say, I was disappointed. The game ran at less than 10FPS, it was barren, we all know the problems on release.

Today I bought and reinstalled the game, all these years later, on the exact same PC. I have an SSD now and 4GB more RAM, making a weird 12GB, but it's the same base specs. An AMD FX8320, a GTX 960 4GB, that 12GB of RAM. I choose to run the game on lowest settings to maximise FPS, and I am genuinely blown away by how smooth it is. I get 60FPS on planets, in space, with only minor hitches every now and then. This is miles ahead of the <10FPS mess I refunded all those years ago.

The change from where NMS was, the progress, is staggering. I've played it on console for years now, but I never thought I'd be able to play it on my PC with how badly it used to run.

It's clear from all the content updates, the constant improvements, and the optimisation that Hello Games truly loves No Man's Sky. That's dedication. They've listened to their fans, implemented good changes, and made a game I now own three copies of, and I can't wait to play it on my Steam Deck when I get it.

Also, this is completely off topic from this post, but it's important to me and my experience with No Man's Sky. Back in 2017, my pet cat was given a few days to live. I spent my time in the living room with her, sitting on the sofa in her blanket, my PS4 on a janky set up of a side table next to me. The last few days of my cat's life, I played No Man's Sky. How to read the crash report? | Having trouble playing the game in its entirety | PC - Steam [Question]

Apologies if this is not the right flair, I'm not sure if I would classify this as a question or a "bug", as I honestly just crash after like 5 ish minutes of playtime. I'm unsure if there is any useful information that I can see what led up to a crash, besides the "the game has encountered an error." I know it gives a token for reference, but I don't see anything useful online about it, so I'm assuming its an internal system used by hello games. Just in case i'm wrong about that though the token is: 83585_0xEED4B0_ST76561198268025822. I've done all the stereotypical, verify file integrity, uninstall reinstall, update drivers etc. I of course made sure I have no overlays, third party software running in the background , and I don't have any mods installed. If anyone has any suggestions on what to do i'd appreciate it. (This is the only game that this happens to me on)

Screaming Snake Case: I'm betting they're using C++ [Discussion]

Note the UI_MP_COLLECT_OBJ reference below. I suppose someone forgot a search and replace somewhere, and based on the capital letters and underscores, they're using screaming snake case for their constants and/or identifiers. Probably means they're using C++. But it could be C.

What do you guys think? Or has HG provided what language(s) they use?

Some Rewards from Expedition 5 Not Received After Redemption. [Bug]

I completed Expedition 5 yesterday. As stated in the title, upon loading into my primary save and collecting the rewards from the quicksilver counter, I didn't actually receive a few of the rewards. This struck me as odd because it said I had received them which means I had already accepted all rewards in the expedition save from the expedition tab otherwise I'd have not been able to get them in the first place. I loaded back into my save file for the expedition just to double check. Sure enough, everything was fine. So, at this point, I figured maybe it was a server latency issue and decided to let it be and see if it would sort itself out by the next day. Unfortunately, it has not. I've already submitted a support ticket to HG; however, I'm not sure they will respond as they say on their site that they may not even respond at all. So I figured I'd try my luck here and see if anyone has any suggestions to fix it.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

For some reason the game thought that I discovered the planet that is in the middle of the system overview screen in the Rendevous 2 system, I renamed it but I am unsure if this was a glitch on my side or if this actually uploaded to anyone, can somebody please check for me?

Big problems taking screenshots and using photomode, plz halp! [Question]

So I have an issue using my "Print Screen" button to take a screenshot. It "lags": Whatever I took a shot of seems to be several seconds before I actually hit the "print screen" button. Why don't I just use Photo Mode? Because I want to get a picture of the new jetpack with it's wings spread to show a friend, and the second you hit "X" to bring up the menu to get to photomode, you stop jetting and fall out of the sky. Does anyone else have this problem, and know a way around it? Or what is causing this stupid Print Screen lag?

So I completed the expedition yesterday and was quite bummed that the sentinel dog was too small to ride or induce an egg from. Now I hear people say they could ride theirs and such....I checked, mine is still too small and too young to even get an egg from. Did I do something wrong? Also why Isn't mine blue but red instead? I'm quite confused....

Help with Multi Tools [Question]

Hello,

I found a cool experimental multi tool in a particular system but cannot find it again.

So I found the tool on the space station but it was C class so I tried finding another cabinet in the system that has at least an A class, and found one on a planet in a minor settlement. Then I reloaded from every planet in the system, including the space station, and went back to that planet hoping to get it to spawn in A class, but it didn't.

Am I missing something here? Where else can I reload from to change the multi tool pool?

NMS discoveries [Question]

Recently there have been instances of expedition planets reseting as by nobody have discovered them, and so they got reclaimed. Or so I saw based on 2 topics that came up. I myself found a weird case, where I entered a star system that looked like no planets were discovered, but as soon as I landed on each one of them, game revealed that they've already been discovered by someone else.

And now, that expedition is over, and I return to my main save... I returned to one of my bases, just to find out that everything on the system have become uncharted territory, despite I had already discovered it all in past.

So it brings up a question: Is there even point in discovering anything, if it seems that NMS databases seems to get just wiped clean of all discoveries? I remember articles about how much of NMS universe is discovered, but isn't it all just pointless, if discoveries gets straight up erased? Or is it just planets, that gets erased, and systems stays visible in records? Or is it only player named discoveries that stays up?

Expedition 5 - Abysmal Horror [Question]

Okay, what am I missing? When I approach the one-eyed monster, it does nothing except look at me. I've actually entered into the eye, waited and NOTHING. What do I need to do to accomplish the task? In other modes, I just shoot it and collect the Hypnotic Eye. PLEASE HELP!

I'm considering purchasing NMS, but I'm worried about difficulty [Question]

Is there any challenging content in the game? I've tried it on a free weekend once and the only difficulty in survival mode seemed to be more annoying inventory management. Hardcore mode seemed to just be survival, but with permadeath, right? Also the health and shields were a bit strange, as if the game wanted to prevent my death at minimal values.

Is there anything in the game that requires proper equipment and good strategy, or is the game commited to being a relaxing farming run?

From some underground clash last night, it seems that the new Sentinel update may have made them even more over-powered, considering sentinel repair drones can heal each other from above the ground and the drones themselves just phase through the terrain and cave systems...

It's such a pity, as cave/underground fights could be so epic, but for now I'll have to stick to on-land combat.

My only nitpick - first person ship view during storms [Discussion]

What is up with the "sheen" visual effect during storms being over the screen while I'm inside my ship?

It seems like the weather effects extend past the window inside my ship. It's a very minor thing that in the grand scheme of things doesn't really matter, but it's just a tiny bit immersion-breaking I find.

If there was one thing with the game I could change, this would be it.

I want to be able to sit in my ship and feel cozy and listen to the rain while I ride out a storm, and not feel like the weather effecta are inside with me.

Why Are The Thumb Sticks STILL Backwards?!?! [Question]

The game has been out for almost 6 years now. Why the hell is the right stick click still the “run” button.

I use the left stick for movement, ergo the left stick click should be the run button like 99.99999% of the rest of the games out there. And then I use the right stick for looking around, ergo the right stick click should be the scan button.

Why are these sticks still transposed, and worse yet, why are there still game in 2022 that do not give the players a custom controller map option in game.

I want these buttons fixed, but I know others would prefer a different layout, which is fine, so give players the custom mapping options.

Yesterday found site for coordinate exchange, and found Exotic ship I would like to have but date that ship was uploaded to site is 2021.12. Will I still be able to find it or not? Can't receive all rewards from Expedition 5 [Bug]

Hi! So, I finished Expedition 5 the other day and went back to my main save to redeem all the Expedition items in the Nexus. They were all available and I was able to redeem them, however, afterwards I found that some items don't show up in-game after redeeming them, more specifically, the posters and the Expedition decal which don't show up in the base building menu. I have not checked on all items, but I can def. get the new companion, jet pack and jet pack glitch exhaust.

Has anyone else encounterd this problem?

How is pc performance? [Question]

So i have 68 hrs on base xbone and i love the game but lord help me the performance is ass and the crashes are frequent on settled worlds from the coordinate exchange or on planets with water or worlds with extreme weather. Luckily i have a decent amd pc ( amd fx 8350 8 cores @ 4ghz, 16 gb ddr3, rx 480 8 gb) and i could just rebuy the game.

My thing is how is the performance and how does it play with an amd system? Bonus points if someone knows a way to transfer progress or knows where to dig up a up to date save editor

Can't seem to get my companions trust up.. [Question]

Stuck on Trace of Metal - 1st Sentinel Pillar Glitched [Question]

I seem to be stuck on the first sentinel pillar. The 3 nodes are destroyed, but it won't show the counter for the guards. If I destroy all the sentinels, it just sends waves like a regular sentinel fight and never seems to end. Any ideas on how to reset the pillar or the question?

I have trouble finding a swamp planet. I have installed a hyperdrive upgrade and skipped some systems in-between rendevouz systems. I believe a swamp planet was in one of those systems I've missed. Could someone say what is the system name which has a swamp planet?

Vanishing comballs? [Bug]

So I built a complex and extravagant base on the starting world for the current expedition to help other players out, and I added it 1 comball and 1 message beacon each, to add a bit of flavor to the base for visitors. However, the comball keeps vanishing. I've replaced it twice and it still stays gone whenever I return to the base. Has anyone had this happen before?

Derelict freighter with no landing pads?? [Answered]

Yesterday I found my first derelict freighter. I spent 10 minutes circling it, trying to find some way to board, but there wasn’t anything. On the wiki I read there are supposed to be 4 landing pads. Are they supposed to be inside the enclosed area that you can fly into, because there was nothing there.

What will happen to my expeditions save? [Question]

hello fellow interlopers

I just started my first expedition save file, and I'm absolutely loving playing with tons of people in the same system from the start.

What I want to know is, what happens when the expedition period ends? Will my starting systems still be as populated as it is now? Or it'll be more or less the vanilla experience?

I would prefer not to invest that much in this save file if it'll end up with the same gameplay as my main 100h+ save file.

Help with expedition rewards. [Bug]

PS5: I just completed expedition 5 and hopped over on my main save to claim the rewards. The cosmetics worked, but the decal and custom posters don't appear in the build menu. I tried reloading the autosave, logging of and on and even restarting the game. Nothing.

I have a manual save from before I claimed the rewards, should I reload it?

Living ships and how many can you own? [Question]

I've gotten enough to buy 2, so I bought 2 and I did the quest for one. Checked up on youtube that the next egg doesnt require the quest line at all, just pulse and away you go get it.

Is there a limit to how many of these ships you can own besides the 6 ship max? Can you only have 2 or can you own 6 living ships? I'm currently working missions and quests for more ships. I think they are cool.

Also, how do I upgrade them? I've seen the freighter trick, the friend who buys a ship at a station trick doesnt work anymore... a friend helped me try that trick out. Was patched.

Scouting Locations for film project [Information]

Base Building Happy Dance!! [Information]

I am doing my base building happy dance!!

Fair warning, you may already know this...

I started playing NMS some time in Jan of this year, and have become quite passionate about it. But one thing has always bothered me:

Why can't I connect the pre-fab buildings, which I really like for power and snap-in reasons, to my wood/stone/alloy buildings, which I really love for the variations and beautiful things I can do with them.

I mean, I tried to line them up, but it never worked. So I resigned myself to building with the pre-fab only because I could get things up and running quickly for mining ops etc. Especially where power was concerned. Once I connect the solar panels and/or electromagnetic generators to one building, snap-in some batteries, I was good to go for any other rooms I snapped onto it.

But now I can have the best of both worlds thanks to a guy in a Steam post from Aug 2019 I saw just a few minutes ago!! I tested it, and it works both ways: aligning a pre-fab building to an existing wood/stone/alley construction, or the other way around.

Which means I can have the alternate landing pad covered with an alloy floor leading to a snapped together pre-fab building.

So basically, and I tested this in creative mode, connecting a pre-fab hallway (glass or not) to a wood/stone/alloy door snaps together!!! Then add the pre-fab on one side, and the other material on the other side, and you are GOLDEN!

I decided against pasting in an image of this guy's post to avoid any rule violations. But here is the post. Second response beginning with the word "wrong." This guy deserves all the credit!!

Permadeath...crappy way to die. [Discussion]

I'm playing permadeath for the first time and i've just died in a very crappy way. I was jumping from a cliff with my jump pack to get some storm crystal a bit faster than usual. Misread the distance, didnt check my life... crashed on the ground and died. I'm so stupid. I'm so so disapointed. I will stop playing for a bit, lol. I had just 10 hours into that save. I cant imagine somebody losing a 50 hour save. Does it happened to some of you fellow traveler ?

This Game Feels Miserable [Discussion]

Me and my wife and nephew had been playing Stardew Valley and enjoying it a lot, but it isn't the most challenging game and I still have the resource management itch that Stardew scratches, so I decided to try No Man's Sky again. I had played it years ago and can't remember why I stopped. Perhaps because of what is going on in my current game.

I love survival games. Long Dark, Ark, Subnautica, Valheim, etc. I like a challenge and I like managing different needs and building from a guy bashing a tree with a rock to a person with a castle. No Man's Sky just feels miserable. I start on a frozen planet, I can't find any of the necessary oxygen to progress, die of hypothermia so many times that quotes are repeating themselves, finally get off the planet, and find myself in a dogfight that I'm incapable of winning, die once again, and now I'm back on the surface of the frozen planet with my busted starship.

I know I could just play peaceful/creative mode, but I'm not looking for zero challenge, just something where I'm not constantly struggling to make it a few feet from my broken spaceship.

What am I missing about this game?

Base Computer Icon has Changed [Question]

The base computer icon that normally floats above it has changed to a diamond shaped pixelated red smudge. It's as if the game has lot the graphic or texture that it normally uses. The same thing happens with the Beacon icon as well. Has anyone else experienced this and knows a way to repair it? I've verified the game files through Steam and it changed nothing. I'd post a screen shot but the game removes all such icons when you take the picture.

Two questions about frigate missions and underground creatures. [Question]

For frigates, is there any benefit to sending more ships out at a time on a single mission besides them all getting experience? Like increased value of rewards found? Or is that just wasting fuel?

On underground creatures... I basically give up and don't finish any planet that has underground creatures unless they're common. The uncommon, and especially rare, just never seem to show up so I'm trying to figure things out if I can somehow help them spawn. For example, does it have to be cave terrain that spawned by default? Or can I use the terrain manipulator to put down cave ground? I'm guessing that won't work... but does clearing caves of everything on the floor, like rocks and plants and hazardous flora, create more "open space" for them to spawn? If I don't care about gathering the resources does me using the terrain manipulator to mass clear space change the ground type to something besides "cave/underground" meaning they won't spawn there anyways at that point?

Glyph giving travelers [Question]

Hello, lately I've tried to search for the last 3 portal glyphs, asking for them to the "dead" travelers that haunt the space stations. I'm currently playing on an old expedition save, so it could be bugged for some reason, fact is that I cannot find travelers anymore in the space stations. I've travelled a lot through many systems, but I cannot really find any clue where to find them anymore. Has anyone the same problem?

I strongly dislike the vibe of expeditions [Discussion]

I just want to vent for a minute about how the implementation of expeditions has really harmed my enjoyment of the game, and I find myself playing it a lot less than I used to.

I like the actual expedition content, but the fact that they can only be completed during a specific time period is inimical to the chill explore-and-build-at-your-own-pace vibe that drew me into the game in the first place. They come with time pressure and marketing terms like "for a limited time" and "last chance to get [special thing]", and it triggers all of the centers in my brain tied to microtransactions and MMO retention tactics, and I hate it.

I know this should be a small thing. And I know I could mod in the items, or muck about with the system clock. It's not about that.

IDK, maybe I should just embrace the new vibe to keep enjoying the game. But I have so much competing for my time that I don't know that I will.

I feel like this game could be the next "minecraft" in popularity. [Discussion]

More i play the more I fall in love with this game. 25 hours in and feel likely I am barely starting off (in a good way).

Curious to see where it goes from here but it seems like it has all the components (and accessibility) to blow up and be played by nearly everyone.

Been watching the updates for a bit and finally jumped it. Blown away that all the updates have been free. Massive props to Sean for creating such a great game.

My favorite part of the game so far, philanthropy! [Discussion]

I've been playing on and off for a few years; one of my characters has about 200 hours behind them, so I know how, after a certain amount of gameplay, the game can start to feel a lot like work for which you don't get paid.

There is only so much to acquire until acquiring things starts to bore me, so I started showing up at the Nexus with a bunch of stuff and started giving it away. I know I am not the only one; I have had some great things gifted to me by completely random people. I didn't realize it then, but I know why they did it.

It is so much fun.

In the world on online gaming, with so many trolls out there who just mess with other players for no reason, it is refreshing to come across people being nice to one another just to be nice. No Man's Sky really fosters a gentle type of gameplay (unless you are a pirate or a sentinel), and so it makes sense that so many people I run into are kind and helpful. I have found that now that I have all the stuff I once struggled to establish, it is so cool to just drop a stasis device worth 15.6 mil in the pocket of someone who's flying a Radiant Pillar without them even noticing until you are long gone.

It makes me feel like a good guy, helping out a stranger, and it's the closest I'll ever get to being a real billionaire, making it rain. I just wish I had more stuff to give. It makes working for all that digital junk somehow seem more worth it when you just hand it to someone who could really use it, without saying a word about it.

What do y’all think about a space station overhaul [Discussion]

Now of course this will be in the far future, but wouldn’t it be neat if space stations were given an overhaul to incorporate procedural generation to make them feel far more substantial and not all the same. Like using some of the techniques used to make the abandon freighters in Desolation to make every space station unique and maybe even add the same to planetary outposts and “minor settlements.” Of course one issue with this is that many players would likely get annoyed with everything being in different places and having to search for what it is they want, yet I feel that it’ll make them feel more influential and the sizes can be limited so it won’t be too hard to find things.

What do you guys think about this.

Help with PC settings [Question]

I am having an issue I’m not sure I can actually fix. I have the PC version of NMS, from Game Pass. I am able to select the correct resolution for the menus, but when I do this, my in-game view stretches out massively, and I effectively can’t do anything.

I’ve tried messing with the FOV, it will only allow me to go up to 100, and that barely helps anything.

Is it possible that the Game Pass PC version just doesn’t support 32:9, or is there another setting I can mess with to make the game work properly?

I Wish This Wasn't so Hard on Us... [Discussion]

I really love a hell of a lot of what No Man's Sky offers sci-fi geeks. Especially those of us who are on console. Other than Elite: Dangerous, this is the only other open space exploration game that we have on this type on this scale. All that being said, I think NMS has a big problem with how it feeds us our content and rewards.

I've just spent three days trying to fight the RNG foundation of this game to roll an S Class freighter, and I still haven't gotten it. I really wish that they would adjust the odds to at least 5 or 10% from 2 or 3% because if you're unlucky, you spend far too much time trying to force the game to give you something you want rather than enjoying your time doing the things you're here to do. And I know that there is an argument to be had about just accepting in A Class and skipping the S, but I don't see why I would want to do that. Nobody plays to accept second best. If this is the last ship of this type I plan on having in the game, why wouldn't I want the best that I can get? Regardless of how little the rating affects the whole all stats.

I'd love to be working on my base, or maxing out an exocraft, or walking around in my mech suit exploring. Instead...3 days down the drain and counting.

I really hate RNG.

Heyo, new to the game here! Having a lot of fun [Discussion]

I've never played a game like NMS. I usually stick to traditional open world RPG, or metroidvania style games. My friends recommended me to get this game so we could hang out in-game and chill.

I thought I'd try it out an return it asap and opened the game.... Only to have sat through 4 hrs at a stretch. The game's incredibly gripping, not in the way other games do. There's something unique about NMS that makes me want to forget my real life and spend my time as an astronaut discovering planets and building from scratch.

NMS might just be the magical itch I've always been feeling I've never known I had. You'd be thinking "why's this redditor fishing for karma? Or something along those lines", but I've genuinely never been so absorbed into a game like that. This is a first for me.

I'm 12 hours in, made made 3 bases, got attacked by a bunch of sentinels, got killed in a frenzy tryna find sodium plants.

I'd never heard of NMS before I'd actually bought the game, so I really went in blind. I guess that's for the best.

I'm not sure if this low effort content or smth, i don't mind if it gets removed. I just wanted to share how much fun I've been having.

The lack of a solid objective in the beginning allows for the player to just explore and soak in some of the early mechanics in-game. I ran into a bunch of situations where I'd had to sacrifice some inventory items to get those damned salvage chips or smth. Makes me consider item management and efficient planning lol.

All in all I think I'll be sinking in a lot of time into this game. Hoping I meet other travellers from this subreddit in those distortion things!

Settlement expeditions [Question]

So, I haven't played NMS more than a few (cumulative) hours over the last 3-4 years. Got it the day it came out and played it obsessively for 6 months and well, life happens. Here we are, years later, I downloaded the sentinel update last week and have been playing it non stop since.

I got myself a settlement and it seems to be bugged. I have 20 citizens in it with a 23% happiness rating, and am about 4 hours away from clearing all my debt. I have sent 5 expeditions out all with different plots.. but I've never seen any results of any kind? Is there someplace special I go to see how the expeditions have turned out?? I got another request for a settlement expedition from the citizens and I don't wanna incur more debt if it does nothing but give me more debt..

I just bought a new Freighter and without realising, saved my game before realising it had for some reason that it had deleted the data for my maxed out A-Class Hauler [Bug]

I’ve been looking for a better freighter for ages now, I mainly play in multiplayer with a couple friends of mine, earlier while playing with one friend we found an A-Class freighter and it was the exact design I had been looking for. I had a ton of units saved so I bought the freighter and noticed that my ships weren’t there yet but remembered that you just have to leave and come back.

I was using my explorer at the time and the rest of my ships had been on my previous freighter, coming back I saved first and then went to swap to another ship, however I noticed that my A-Class hauler that I’d just finally maxed out wasn’t there and instead had been replaced a random hauler I bought a few days ago to scrap.

The rest of my ships are still there but now my hauler that cost me about the same as my new freighter is just gone and reloading my save did nothing and didn’t bring it back.

What do I do now...

i just finished the expedition and it was my first one too! i am super happy with the rewards even if the expedition was a little tedious to complete. i am however a little confused on a few things about this egg.

can i egg sequence it as soon as i get it and will it have any effect at all considering it is a one of a kind pet?

can i get additional eggs either through the normal induction of an egg or maybe the quick silver vendor?

do i need to keep my expedition save to maintain the ability to get the eggs on other saves?

if i get the egg on another save through the quicksilver merchant, do any of these answers change?

Lost all my materials in a refiner [Bug]

As the title says. I had two refiners down farming Di-Hydrogen // Gels back to back, and I had a nice chunk going to farm up. I left the planet to get some blueprints off the anomaly and then I left and went back to my refiners planet side.

Walk up to them only to find that they are both completely empty, no fuel, no input mats and no output mats.

I suppose that this is a valuable lesson to not use all mats at once for future rarer materials. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk.

Can’t get inside freighter- [Question]

So, basically I can’t get inside my freighter. I can land in it and stuff but soon as I go upstairs there’s a random freighter room, and it blocks me at the door way, I can’t even open the building menu to fix it, and summoning it elsewhere didn’t work either. Egg sequencer question [Question]

Do the modifications you make to the egg stack at all before you hatch it?

You can modify it, then you can put back in the sequencer and modify it again before it's hatched. So would that have two lots of modification or does it cancel out the first ?

I always just modified the egg, hatched it, got a new egg from the new companion and repeat.

PSA for those of us getting tired / bored / annoyed with the expedition grind [Suggestion]

Hey all,

As a fellow completionist with FOMO, I know how hard it can be to feel like you're forced to complete a task or you'll miss out on something. I also know how frustrating it can be when the task feels like a treadmill (I played WoW for 15 years - I know a thing or two about treadmills).

Don't forget what you actually love about this game. Don't forget to revisit the things you actually enjoy doing along the way. For me, it was ship hunting and portal hopping. So, when I started feeling a little burnt out from grinding expedition goals over the last few days, I took the entire day off, but continued to play on my expedition save. I ran from station to station searching for travellers to help me fill out my glyphs, hunted ships for scrapping and farming units or nanites, etc etc.

TL;DR: Just because you're working on a goal with a somewhat linear path, nothing is stopping you from doing what you've always loved doing in-game (exploring, building, hunting, etc).

Less cosmetic and more useful things, please HG [Suggestion]

We need things that are actually useful in the game, not only cosmetic. Laylaps is a cosmetic companion that does nothing, it even doesn't speak. Animal companions do nothing, from almost 20 gadgets for them, only one is really useful, but never used... why? What's the point to have 18 companions slot, that costs thousands of nanites to unlock, if they are useless and only one can be spawned at a time?

Same for multitool or ship, when I have a S class 24 slot multitool I can put all scanner, mining laser, weapons upgrades I need, why should I ever switch it? S class freighter same have no purpose because you can use glyphs to go everywhere, there is no need for huge jumps... more inventory slot? When maximized cargo suit and have ten containers on freighter with matter beam with a 48 slot ship, there is no need for inventory anymore, and you still have Colossus...

And these can be applied to everything in the game...

I just wanted to talk a bit about my ideas (and also yours) for future updates. Expeditions for offline players (also would be cool to enable all online-only features for offline players, too) More challenging sentinel fights Build your own space station (only 1 per system) where you can (if you have the necessary upgrade) build your own ships (choose from all available parts and create your own ship) Join one of the civilazations such as gek, to get special items / ships / weapons, but get a bad reputation to others. Fight with and / or against big freighters in a really big space battle. More system diversity, such as systems with only 1 or even without any planets at all. Sentinels attacking your base, defend by builing auto turrets or fight on your own. Sentinel systems, that are wihtout any life, just sentinels and where it is a real threat to be different biomes on a planet (e.g. snow in the north, desert in the south)

Every drowned ship I locate has been the same. Is this normal? [Question]

I recently got into the underwater aspect of the game and made myself a small base with the intent of using the Nautilon scanner to find ships and make a little extra cash.

At this point I've found 4 ships but they've all been the same exact physical model/class. A class A shuttle with around 20 slots (total, including damaged) and only worth 1.5m to 2m based on the scanner reading. Which hardly makes it a viable way to make cash if they're worth so little.

Are all drowned ships always the same? I was using the minotaur distress scanner before this. I was fine with the freighters since they sometimes had a nice payout and are quick to grab everything. I had found ships worth as much as 20m this way but I was getting frustrated that like 3 out of 4 ships I found still had a pilot.

Is this all intentional as a way to limit ship farming? Or am I just getting really unlucky with the underwater ships I'm finding? Do they change based on planet? I'm just wondering if I'm missing something or if this really is just a waste of time.

Base Computer Icon Seems Corrupted [Question]

The base computer icon that normally floats above it has changed to a diamond shaped pixelated red smudge. It's as if the game has lot the graphic or texture that it normally uses. Otherwise the computer works normally. The same thing happens with the Beacon icon as well. Has anyone else experienced this and knows a way to repair it? I've verified the game files through Steam and it changed nothing. I'd post a screen shot but the game removes all such icons when you take the picture.

(Expedition ) not sure what I’m doing wrong [Question]

I’m trying to complete the quest that involves taking a picture of 10 land animals in a group,and am failing horribly. I’ve taken almost 100 photos of a group of ten or more from every angle I can think of and none of them seem to count. Is there a specific way I need to do this? Are other people having this issue?

Nexus mission type and location [Question]

Can someone explain or point me to an explanation on what, if anything, determines the mission type for the daily nexus missions and its locations?

I ask because for almost 2 weeks it keeps sending me to the same DoubleDashGaming system, even after jumping multiple stars out. Fauna? DDG gaming planet. Hadal core? Ocean planet in another DDG system.

Is the selection based on proximity to discovered systems, is it completely random? Do the devs pick out a subset of preferred systems? Whats the deal?

[Help] I'm stuck with the Radiant Brain, I cannot get a new one... [Question]

Hello, it has been some days now that I am stuck in NMS: I finished the sentinel mission to get my Minotaur a fully upgraded mainframe. No problem encountered during the mission. But while in combat with my Minotaur aside the Mainframe got damaged and the radiant brain was destroyed.

I looked online how to get a new one and it says first to get a repair kit and repair the brain. I tried to get some by going in those space fregates but didn't find any.

Then some people here said to diassemble the mainframe and it would give the brain back, so I could put it back in. I tried, but it didn't gave me the brain back (my inventory had lot of free space).

Then in game with the repair steps blueprint it told me to talk to Tethys and he would give me a replacement one (in exchange of a Walker Brain I assumed). So I did and went to the anomaly with a Walker Brain and free space in my inventory. But when I talk to Tethys it says that he "is not in the mood to talk and that perhaps I should come back another day". I also tried without a Walker brain, but same dialogue.

I filled a bug report to Hello Games when I encountered the issue first (the 22nd of February 2022) and just tried the latest beta on Steam that came out yesterday, but the issue still remains. Playing on french language I even tried switching to English language to see if maybe it was a language issue, but the same thing happens.

Anyone else knows if I missed something like a step or something else and how I can have a new one if you had a similar experience? Thank you very much!

We really need planetary maps on which we can see visited structures especially now that settlements are added. Charting sectors should provide permanent and accessible information on nearby buildings [Suggestion]

My main base/settlement is Gurjaras I4, in the settlement of New Mogadishu. Nearby, I know there is an Archive Exchange Vault and a Holographic Tower, both useful buildings that can be hard to find.

If I had a map, I would like to be able to see these structures from birds eye view, and be able to place waypoints. That way, I won't lose the vault and not spend 20 minutes circling my settlement looking for it.

It would also make charting sectors useful, giving you a reason to seek out charting points and get an overview on the area that embues the world with more depth and life to the planets your on. That way, settlements like New Mogadishu actually feel like real places that are alive and have structure to them.

Any QOL/Easy Crafting Mods? [Question]

There is an amazing mod for Subnautica, EasyCraft, which will allow you to make items as long as you have the raw materials for all the prerequisite items, even if you don't have those intermediary items crafted. It takes a HUGE amount of the hassle and drudgery away from what is, IMO, the worst part of (both) games.

As a NMS'ified example, right now you have to create Carbon Nanotubes, then a Microprocessor, then Antimatter, to finally get a Quantum Computer; instead as long as you have enough Chromatic Metal and Condensed Carbon for all of it, you can make the Quantum Computer from an empty slot.

Is there any such mod for NMS?

Disappearing base computer? [Question]

So forgive me if this has been posted before, I'm new to reddit.

I was revamping one of my original bases with new parts since the newer updates added base parts, I though I'd be able to move stuff around, including the base computer which is always outside the building since it's the first thing you put down to make a base. I went to move the base computer, but when I went to place it inside the base walls, it disappeared, and now the base marker outside is still there, but there's no base computer there so I can't upload my base or change the name or screenshot. Can't place a new base computer either. Is this a glitch? Or how do I fix it?

Question about hazard shielding [Question]

So, I’ve been playing for a long time now, but this latest expedition got me thinking about my hazard protection setup.

Right now I have S-Class hazard shielding for all four types, plus hazard resistance upgrades for each as well. My question is, should I keep that setup, or just double up on hazard shielding?

I’m sure there are people who will tell me “do both,” but I don’t want to take up more than the eight slots in my standard inventory for this.

Communications stations disappear [Question]

Hello. During expedition when I land on planets, bubbles showing locations of communications stations dropped by players disappear after some minutes. All of them. Is there a way to see them back again ? I tried to reload save, change system and come back, but I don’t see them until I’m very close.

How rare are storm crystals exactly? [Question]

I've checked a bunch of planets, and so far found nothing.

Either the darn things are extremely rare, or I'm doing something wrong.

I'm looking for planets with storms/activated resources and waiting for the storm to kick in, then use my visor to find lightning icons or just roam looking for white glowy rocks.

Expedition 5: Better chances at getting nice ships? [Discussion]

After playing about 100 hours on a normal save, I finally joined my first Expedition. To be fair, it's nice being able to start from scratch while also knowing what to do and to expect. What I did not expect though was that I might cling to that save once the event is over.

I don't know about you guys but so far in 7 hours of gameplay I encountered 3 exotic ships and also got this badass freighter in my second pirate fight. As I thought this save would only be temporary, I wasn't even looking for a good freighter, just hoped to randomly find one with decent storage after a distorsion.

Comparatively, on my normal save I have never, not once, encountered an exotic ship and had to settle for a rather small and ugly Sentinel after I got tired of reloading my game when hunting for a freighter. I guess I could have used coordinates but i didn't for the Expedition either and yet got way better stuff. Is this something you guys also noticed or am I just unlucky on my normal save?

PS: I want to thank the community and this reddit I checked randomly which made me realize an Expedition was even on! Side note: There should probably be a message when launching the game that an Expedition is ongoing. I started playing in the fall last year and I wish I had known and participated in the previous ones.

Some questions from a new player [Question]

I did some quick googling and checked the wiki already, and didn't find satisfactory answers, so I hope these aren't the kinds of questions that are annoyingly repeated on here. Sorry if they are! For reference, I've just gotten into the second star system, so I'm still pretty early.

Firstly, ship inventory size. The wiki says "Once a ship has been upgraded to S rank, almost all ships inventories can be increased to 48+21," but also goes into detail about different ship inventory size categories. So do the inventory size categories only refer to the initial inventory size, and not the potential maximum inventory? If I have a "small" ship and a "large" ship, can they both ultimately be upgraded to the maximum 48+21?

Secondly, the Signal Booster. I love this thing. But, can it point you to points of interest you've already interacted with? (e.g. a drop pod from which I've already received an inv upgrade) I've been planet-hopping a lot so I haven't really tested this thoroughly on a single world.

I haven't fought a whole lot of Sentinels yet, mostly been dodging them. But they don't appreciate when I bust into Manufacturing Facilities, so I've spent a bit of time pewpewing them. But they seem to respawn faster than I can take them all down; is that normal? (In fairness, I haven't been focusing on combat effectiveness like upgraded weapons, so that could be the issue.) Is it simply an endless stream forever until you run away? (I haven't checked the wiki on Sentinels yet because I suspect there would be a lot of spoilers I'd rather avoid.)

Lastly, I don't know much about procedural generation or how it works. So this question pertains to the procedurally-generated planets. Are these newly generated every time I play? Or just generated once, and then persistent for the remainder of that game file? Similarly, if I harvest planetary resources (say, a copper deposit), will...

How do you feel about a method of painting ships? [Suggestion]

I feel like finding the "perfect" ship design for yourself can be quite difficult, so I had a thought about a way of at least changing the paint colors.

What if you could unlock a specific color by finding another ship with that color and salvaging it? It wouldn't have to be the same ship type so a hauler with white could still unlock white for a fighter etc.

I feel like this would still encourage exploration but make getting your ideal ship just a bit easier. What do you think?

Unknown symbol [Question]

Does anyone know what the red symbol shown in the screenshot below represents? It's in the same area where all my other status symbols show. Every bit of technology I have is fully charged, there's plenty of room in my exosuit, ship, freighter, and exocraft inventories. This has been there for 2 days now, and the only time it vanishes for a brief period is when I jetpack anywhere because the jetpack status covers or replaces it. Soon as the jetpack is recharged, it's back.

I know avoiding the save editor is the best way to experience the game. How do you know that a user dropping goods on you for a quarter million is not just somebody editing and handing that out. I have avoided using those kinds of gifts for that reason I just destroy them…. Anybody else?

I need your help, I just bought this game, along with my friend (he is on PC, Im on PS5) we added each other as a friend so we can see each others lobbies. But when I or he tries to join the other one lobyy it just says connecting and thats it, it can be like that for minutes and nothing is happening.

Anyone knows why? Each of us didnt play single minute of this game yet and we just cant get into the game together.

Stuck in the anomaly way above ground [Bug]

I started an expidition 5 save nearly 6 hours ago (game time) and arriving in the system for the 3rd rendez-vous point I wanted to go in the anomaly.

As soon as I exited my ship, my avatar went 50u above ground. Autosave point was made after that moment. I'm stuck in an invisible box. No way out. No oxygen consumption. No hazard protection consumption. Impossible to use weapon and no fall damage. I just can't die.

Too far to jump back into ship. No map action. Manual save is useless too.

Tried loading game in multi. Works but doesn't save my position so as soon as I go back solo, I'm back in my box.

Any idea how could I leave it?

Guess Book for visitors [Suggestion]

Was thinking today how cool would it be for visiting users to sign a Guess Book when they visit your base.

Could be manual or automatic (it logs their name when the second they land on your property.)

This is a crazy idea but... [Suggestion]

What if NMS had clans? A tag by your name and a clan scoreboard to compare (not compete!) with other clans. For example, planets disvovered, sentinel nests deactivated, total credits earned etc.

Then for the competitive side, organizable space dogfights that could also utilize capital ships (instead of dying tho ships will automaticaly emergency warp to, let's say, a clan base/planet)

Noob question about Multplayer [Question]

So, I just bought the game, like a few days ago, and I bought it to play with my brother. The thing is that we have managed to play together using the network thing, inviting into each other`s play session. But we're still a little confused on how much integration there really is in the game. Here are a few questions:

  • If I join his session and play for a while, next time I load solo, what happens to the progress I've made with him?

  • If I discover something new in my solo session, will he (or anyone) be able to see my name on thing I've discovered?

  • Once I join his session, I'll be loaded into his system, wherever he's at. How do I find my original solo base from there?

Downloaded Mods not working [Question]

Hi,

So I haven't played in a while and I've always had one mod, just to expand the inventory.

Now, the game got updated, so as usual, I deleted the DISABLEMODS.txt file, made sure the mod was updated to the lastest Sentinel update, installed the mod, rebooted the computer, and it still didn't work.

I get no warning that I have mods installed and now I have an overflowing inventory because I'm a greedy hamster.

I just want my hoarded stuff, why isn't it working anymore? What else can I do?

Question about the game [Question]

Considering purchasing for ps5. Can you just fly around, look at planets and stuff and not do anything else? Or do you have to visit the planets and gather resources to unlock travel etc? Anyone play on console? Thoughts?

Game looks good, just wondering if it will hit the spot for me. Looking for something like need for speed or gta where I can cruise around and look at things. Possibly do other stuff later but its not the main motivator.

Can't build raised floors? [Bug]

I was trying to build s new base with the floor slightly off ground level and the game would just NOT let me. I tried to use the Timber Half Ramp Platform but the game will only allow for it to be placed so its steps are IN the ground. Other ramps don't have this issue. Similarly, if I place a half wall, I then can not put a floor tile on top of it. I'm sure this used to work fine before the building system rejig.

Is it just me or is building much more cumbersome now?

Starbirth Help? Extra parts? [Question]

I'm trying to do the "Starbirth" / Void Egg quest and for some reason I have several extras from each step of the quest. I am now on the part where I have to go to three traveler's graves on a planet to charge up a core, but instead of completing I get to 66% and then a new core is spawned into my inventory and it starts back at 0%. I am so lost and confused, has anyone else encountered this issue? Anyone know a good fix? I've been afraid to toss out the extra pieces just in case.

Gifting fully grown sentinel egg [Question]

So I’ve been thinking about this: I just finished expedition 5 earlier today and I was wondering if I could just stash it and when the exposition save becomes a normal save, I would use an alt to transfer the items over to my main. Using Deep Space Lure [Question]

In Expedition 5, the last step is to use the Deep-Space Lure to attract a sentience. I have built it in my inventory, and the instructions say to select the item in my inventory and use the X button (Xbox controller) or E button (keyboard) to generate the field. But when I use either button, it just wants to build another lure (since they are stackable).

I'm sure I'm missing something simple (since no one else seems to have this problem), but I can't figure out what it is.

Living Ship Issues - No Singularity Cortex [Question]

Halp!!!! [Question]

I have completed the most recent expedition recently and claimed all of my rewards on my separate game. However, I am not able to craft the xenobiologist banner for my base. The gold one for the expedition. I've been putting them up as I complete them, but it is just not showing in the build menu.

Does anyone know what's the problem or a way to fix it? It's not game breaking or anything, but it makes me a bit sad that I cant add it to my wall.

Worm companion new form ? [Discussion]

Hi, it's been a while since I last played the game. Around the worm expedition it was impossible to change the form of a companion worm with the egg sequencer, it only downgraded it to a sea cucomber.

My thoughts about NMS after 1 week! [Discussion]

It funny that a game this huge and infinite map size and infinite possibilities still feels kinda empty sometimes, don’t get me wrong the game is incredible and i love every second of it that i played. I am far away from having it all and calling my self "done” with the game, its just hard to think that exploring and building and farming will not become a repetitive loop and boring in the end. And watching other you-tubers that have it all and still play the game and explore i wonder how they are doing it again and again, maybe i am not that right type for the game in a long-run, but for know i will keep playing it and have fun! And i will probably see other potential to make the most of the game! Just want your opinions to!!

Expedition 5 Completion Time [Information]

After each expedition, I like to post how long it took me, to help out my fellow players who (like me) have limited playtime due to work, life, etc......

This one took 9 hours & 50 min ....a free Saturday helped :-)

Biggest headache was the cake bit.....got lucky...donated some upgrade modules to a random player and he payed it forward and gave me lots of cake making stuff. A good guide on youtube for finding the different milk and egg types helped immensely.

The explorer missions was the last thing I had to finish....not hard but very grindy.

Xbox one becoming unplayable. [Question]

I've been playing this on my Xbox one since the first major update after launch. Ivey pretty much always had a crash per play session which I could deal with, but recently it's becoming unbearable. I'll play for 20ish minutes and have 2-3 crashes happen. It's got to the point that I put a save beackin down every time I'm about to get into a ship because there's a solid 40% chance my games gunna shut down the moment I get out. Is there any plan to allow graphics settings on Xbox or for another optimization update.( I remember it used to be a big problem with any saves over 100 hours but they fixed it. I love this game and I'm never gunna be able to afford a new console ( even if I could I'd have to buy from a salper) so please devs allow me to put my game on potato mode so I'm able to actually play.i can't handle having to go through the 5 minute loading screen every 10 minutes of game time.

First post + found some very cool ridable pets. [Screenshot]

So, this is my first post, i have been playing this game for a good 175 hours now and found something cool that i wanted to share with the rest of you. i was exploring a random abandoned sector in my galaxy cluster and found somethign called a Flame-ruptured planet. Haden't seen one yet, so i desided to land despite the aggresive sentinels. The surface of the planet is mostly volcanic rock and the planets sets itself on fire every 5 minutes. Both of theese are ridable and also eat ion batteries instead of food pellets. They are extremely fast and sprint about as fast as the ridable cars ingame. i did not know you could find rideable sentinel-esque robot companions. For anyone else wanting to pick one up for themselves here is a picture of the glyphs.

i just love how theese pets look, they look so cool compared to 90% of the generic fauna I've found so far and their speed is awesome.

PS: If you do end up on the planet, could you do me a favor and plop down a base computer to save? i cannot properly connect to the discovery server on linux and am not sure if uploading my base gets the needed data to the server to...

What's up with the Quad Sentinel companion? [Question]

I mean, even as an adult you cant even ride it on your main save, cant really genetically enhance it either to make it bigger. Plus the color is also different on the main save, too. Its a real let down after grinding the expedition

Grave stuck in an indestructible rock [Bug]

I was hopping systems when I saw a neat looking planet and wanted to explore it. As I'm entering the atmosphere, I very quickly smash my ship into a very tall rock, clipping into it and getting stuck. I try to escape, but to no avail, and take damage slowly until my ship explodes. After repairing my ship, I go back to retrieve my stuff and find that it is stuck inside the rock. When I walk on top of the rock I clip about halfway into the structure, and am able to look inside it if I orient the camera right, but I can't seem to interact with my grave.

Is there any way to retrieve my items? I was carrying a bunch of trade goods hoping to find a system with a power economy to sell it all in.

All my stuff in a rock. Quite sad.

Terrain manipulator Not working on specific mounds of land on the surface. [PS4] [Question]

Hello, This is my first post so sorry if bugs aren't supposed to be written here.

I recently got a chart map from an archive which I used to find an ancient ruin, I arrived at the ruin but one out of the 3 keys was under a specific part of soil that looks like it is a part of a hill nearby. I cannot mine, affect or do anything to this soil even though it isn't bedrock or whatever the indestructible soil is. It looks entirely normal and frozen like the rest of the surface of this planet. This isn't a one time thing I already tried searching this up but found nothing helpful when I was trying to loot a crashed freighter. Thank you for any replies and apologies if bug reports aren't allowed.

Power problem in players' bases [Question]

So, I've been playing the expedition for the last couple of days but every base created by other players I visit has the same problem: no power at all.

Some have extractors, portals, wires, batteries and solar panels even but they are never charging. During the day the solar panels are closed, I can see the 'hours of day' timer but they generate nothing.

I have traveled over multiple systems and it's always the same. Even if I got teleported from the space station the portal in the base is powered off on my arrival due to lack of energy.

Is this a known issue? Am I missing anything?

Is it a good idea to add a system’s gate address to its name? [Question]

I’m currently sick with the flu, not COVID I checked, so didn’t play much. I decided to try to reach the outer edge of the Alpha arm, near the northern edge of the galaxy, by traveling through the Alpha Quadrant.

I’m also looking for an Oculus freighter to buy. My main ship, the Ultimate Nomad, has a warp range just over 1450 ly. And every time I burn out a hyper warp cell, I land on a planet to get the systems’ gateway address. While I’ll certainly never return to these systems, maybe other travelers will like know where they are in two coordinate systems. So I add the warp address to the system’s name.

Does anyone else do this?

Is it safe to jump into random water? [Question]

Hey guys,

I found a cool cold planet and it is the first time I ever came across lakes. There are many holes in the planet and far down yellow(ish) water.

I really want to explore all the animals and some live in the water. Can I just jump down there and dive? How can I get back up again? With the Multitool by creating a looong tunnel to the top again?

Could the water be dangerous so that I would instantly die? Maybe I can check somehow if it is safe to jump in there?

Sentinels not attacking? [Bug]

So.... it's fantastic that HG have overhauled combat. When it works, it's brilliant. But.. most of the time (especially if I'm in my Minotaur) they just sit there letting me shoot them and don't shoot back. Sometimes the most aggressive thing they do is fly right into me, but still not actually attack. Who else is having this weird issue?

Theory [Discussion]

A lot of us are playing the Expedition. Personally I would like to continue playing from this save after Expedition ends. I feel I have accomplished more with less resources given by the game for me, what makes me wonder if HG should add a "non assisted" mode, where you don't have resources given by the game as tutorial.

But that's not the issue we're to discuss here. Let's say I arrive on a system, is first contact, and I start naming things while I scan, but before I upload anything I loose internet connection and keep like that for a whole day. Then I login on next day and noticed all changes I made were different due other player that arrived on such system. What raises the question, shouldn't time stamps be considered? Debate :D

Ghosts in the Machine bugged [Bug]

So I'm at the part of the quest to Locate Apollos contact, but they are nowhere to be found. Nothing shows up on the galaxy map, I've tried learning all the blueprints that would normally be the reward (cylindrical room mainly) and even used the taxi service to go to Hilbert. Nothing will show up and it won't show the message of target too far away and give me the option to reset. Ive been on this save for months now and don't want to give up just because of a stupid bug on the main quest.

Settlement bug/feature help [Question]

I am relatively new to the game and am going through the settlement questline at the moment and almost every time I teleport or arrive at my settlement sentinels attack, I could be gone a few hours or mere minutes, the constant attacks are getting on my nerves because sometimes I want to just make a quick stop at the settlement and be on my way, I'm not even sure if this is a bug or intended feature and I'm wondering if there's any way to fix or solve this, am I missing some kind of method of stopping the sentinels from attacking my base (ignoring of course the method where you defeat a full assault and shut them down temporarily, this doesn't solve my issue for very long)

If it helps I'll drop the base stats here. There are no current features that increase sentinel alert level It produces 500k units/day Currently has no debt Has a happiness of 20%

Any fixes/solutions would be appreciated thanks!

PS5 save file acting as ps4 save file [Bug]

My PS5 save file is acting like a ps4 save file, as it doesn’t have ray tracing and the textures look different. I didn’t notice until I started an expedition save (which is working normally) that it was different. My controller acts like a ps4 one as well, except for when the ship takes off. Anyone have any idea how to fix this or what happened?

No more crashed S Class fighter? [Question]

So I noticed that all the crashed S Class fighters and huller are replaced with shuttles. It seems that the only crashed site that remains the same are that of exotic and shuttles. Someone told me that you can't find any fighter, explorer or huller anymore that is above the rank of B. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

Post-expedition [Question]

I recently got this game about a month ago and managed to finish the storyline just before the expedition started. Now that I've finished the expedition I was wondering what the general consensus was in the community for what to do afterwords. Do most people keep and continue the save with the expedition or do you switch back to your main save and just grab the rewards. Is there a benefit to either?

I was also wondering if people always stayed in Euclid or moved on or if there's even a difference in doing one or the other?

Expedition 5 sea creatures hiding? [Question]

In my legacy save I can stroll along a beach and EASILY spot red dots in the water with my scanner. But now that there's actually a task for a badge in Expedition 5 for this same thing it seems like no creatures are swimming near sea sides anymore. Am I mistaken?

Oh sure, I can remedy this by taking a plunge but I do find it odd.

Has anyone been able to scan underwater animals without going in the water like I can in my legacy save no problem?

Companion trust is all I have left, so I guess it's a waiting game, right? [Discussion]

I've done my share of searching on this sub and it looks like the only option to build trust is to pet your pet, feed your pet, and wait... The fact that it takes 24 hours to boost your pet's trust 5% is really a bummer. I'm only checking in on my Expedition save once a day now and I've still got 4 days to go.

I've read that the original pet starts at 95%, but that doesn't help much when you no longer have the original pet in your collection. Anyway, lesson learned and the jet pack is cool!

Would be nice to find some way to accelerate the process... I heard hatching an egg will boost you by 5% or at least start where the parent pet left off, but my highest is 80% now so yah. Best of luck and congrats to everyone!

TL;DR: If there are any other tips to speed things up, I'd really appreciate a little insight

Exobiology Posters and Decal bug [Question]

Hi all. Just updated to the latest Experimental patch and it says it has fixed the posters and decal for the Exobiology Expedition. However, all I am getting is white rectangles for the posters and nothing at all for the Exobiology Decal. They are, at least, showing in the build menus now.

Anyone else? would be good to know before I re-install the game in case I've done something to it.

Tv vs Monitor help? [Discussion]

My living ship turned into a regular ship [Bug]

Okay, so I've been doing things out of order, because I can never do the main quest first in game, lol.

I have a living ship, been doing my thing with it for a while, no issues. But then I did the Apollo missions where I met Atlas, and got dumped on a strange planet. * From this point forward, my living ship is now some sort of shuttle, except that it still acts like a living ship when trying to add technologies. And when I'm flying, and changing my weapons, the weapons names are from the living ship.

I did a Google Search and I found a lot of posts similar to this in 2020, but none of those fixes seem to work for me. I still have a shuttle that is some sort of living ship blend.

I would really appreciate any help or advice from the community. I don't want to have to just go blow the 10k nanites and get a new living ship; I'd much rather get this one restored.

Untameable flying creature [Question]

So i have seen people riding untameable creatures and someone told me that they are using save edotor to replace an existing companion with the untameableone. So i found a flying creature and in the saveeditor when i located the file it showed me 6 hexcodes and the companion option in the saveeditor also have option for 3 hexcodes(creature seed, species, genus) now i have tried some different combinations but i cant figure out which uex code to replace with what. There are 6 codes and 3 places where i can use them. Does anyone who have done this before can guode me a bit

Thinking about going back to Beyond [Discussion]

In my experience, the game became laggy with every update. I started playing NMS when the Beyond update was released. It ran well. Then I updated to Expeditions Revisited, I noticed some lag, especially lag spikes. Now I updated to Sentinel and I get tons of lag spikes, it's pretty much unplayable. I'm dissapointed because with every update there are tons of fixes and new content.

I tried to fix the lag spikes and the FPS but I can't. Everything is set to the lowest low.

My specs :

CPU : Intel i5 3470

RAM : 16 GB DDR3 1333 Mhz

GPU : Nvidia GTX 1050 2GB

Kingston 480GB SSD

Windows 7 SP1 (the game runs the same on Windows 10)

I know my PC is not powerful but Beyond was ok. Should I go back?

How does multiplayer work? [Question]

I bought no man's sky sice I heard it's good now. I'm looking forward to playing with others online and friends but I don't know multiplayer works. I know how to invite friends but I was looking forward to hanging with strangers. Feel like I'd have more fun that way. Plus I can rp without shame.

I fixed my ship and can fly now. I'll occasionally other ships. I can't tell if those are ai or other players. Am I in a server or something or is it invite only?

3 hours in to finding what doesn't seem to exist deep space sentient [Question]

This mission is a TOTAL WASTE of TIME "expedition 5 where to find deep space sentient"

I have been to at least 25 systems and spent at least 3+ hours trying to find this sentient and NOTHING, what the hell kind of stupid mission is this. I've run across them before in normal play but extremely rare. WTF HG where the hell is this stupid thing and when I see it I plan to open up a murderous rage on it for wasting so much of my freakin time.

Bugs and performance issues on new Xbox Series X [Bug]

Hi guys,

So I have some annoying issues in No Man's Sky (on my new Xbox Series X) and I wondered if someone else has them or knows a way to fix them.

I see black squares or rectangles flickering on screen whenever I'm in a menu for example refiner menu or Portal interface or whenever I'm talking to an NPC.

Whilst warping to a new System I sometimes see the Space Station during the warping sequence.

Minor laggs when I fly down to a planet and the world loads.

Always, when I leave a planet with the boost there is a short moment where for a millisecond a white background appears as if there are too many stars in the sky. (It's hard to describe).

Note: No my Xbox needs no internal update and no it's not because of multiplayer. I hope some one sees this. Thanks

Game freezes after selecting a Settlement upgrade? [Bug]

Hello yes.

I go to my Settlement.

I select one of two buildings to add.

I usually have a few seconds before it happens. I can sometimes make it out of hte building door. I can sometimes up up the Settlement Overview Menu. But without fail, the entire game freezes after I select an upgrade.

Anyone else have this?

Stupid Glitch wth [Bug]

I’ve been playing since launch and have “built” over 20 -30 bases and will continue to as much as I can (I’m not good at building) the kicker is I don’t have any restrictions on building or breaking them because I just want to come back to them one day and see if they’ve been changed. I’m on normal mode. Does anyone else do this? I just want to know if it’s at all possible that a random traveller cannot find one of them and add/destroy them? It’s only happened once in 5 years.

Hey all

Wanting to know if I am the only one having this issue.... I just completed the latest expedition (number 5) and for some reason all the banners and poster rewards aren't showing up in my build menu or anywhere else for that matter. I have redeemed them but as this is my first run through of an expedition I am worried maybe I did something wrong??? I thought maybe I had to complete the entire thing for them to show up but here I am finished and still no luck. Perhaps one of you out there has some ideas to help me get this stuff!

I can't get my first free freighter [Question]

I learned that if you skip the first option to get a freighter, you had the ability to use that free trade-in on an S class if lucky enough. I have warped close to 35 times now and have not triggered the encounter after warping into a new system. Would anyone know why this is happening and/or how to fix it?

Modest Curious Deposit patch: Free to a good home [Information]

So earlier I was tracking down a BoneCat that I saw on NMSCE (who else is loving the xtra slots?), and I Portal-ed to a lovely little Verdant planet. While I was looking, I tripped over a few CuriousDeposits. You only find 'em when you're not looking. 12-13 balls yielded 7.5-8k mold. So I dropped a quick BaseComp, and went and found my critter.

But when I went back, it occurred to me that I already have a pretty decent CD farm, and nobody needs two. I deleted my base, took a screen shot with the glyphs, and jotted down the planetary coords.

So if anyone is interested, just be the first to DM me, and I'll kick you the location. All I ask is that if you already have your own spot, please leave it for a traveller that doesn't.

So if you have storage containers on bases and your freighter all number 0, 1 and so on are linked up so storage 0 on each base and freighter all have the same items? Making a Base [Bug]

My friends and I decided to start playing, and last week progressed to the point that I build a small rudimentary base (walls, roof, door, computer). My friend however couldn’t trigger the quest progression to give him buildables. Another of our friends said that because we hadn’t progressed to the point of making some sort of portal, we would need to start over.

Tonight we dutifully did, and this time I was stuck seemingly at the same point. I placed a base computer, but it wouldn’t let me scan any archives or do anything past rename the base. I had a red quest marker near the host of the sessions base that, on reaching it, did nothing. Ultimately I was defeated and will likely have to restart a third time.

Is this an unavoidable bug, or have we been doing something wrong to cripple progress? Moreover, is it true to “find each other again” or “start at the same planet again on a reload” I need to progress to building a portal?

New build system is great but... [Discussion]

I've been having some fun with the new build options upon my recent return, since before I used to stick to just the prefabs, building various things as a test but I've come across three really annoying nitpicks that have frustrated me quite seriously each time I've encountered them.

Firstly, some things just won't snap under something else. This makes it really irritating to build certain structures because you have to build them from the lowest point first, since if the terrain gets any lower it's just going to be hovering there unrealistically. This is most painful because cuboid struts are one of these items, despite their perfect appearance for support legs. This also extends to the half arch, which I tried to use as a substitute for a pillar on one occasion.

Secondly, the small sized items sometimes really really don't like to be built in combination with things, especially the stairs. There have been several scenarios where I've placed a doorway that you can't walk through because it's got an invisible blocker, or half-stairs that refuse to rotate in the opposite direction. (Side issue, I hate how the ramps have a landing platform at the top, it makes them really uneven and bad to look at if you chain multiple of them together) And my problem with the smaller floor pieces leads into the next issue.

Snapping is inconsistent, or should I say too strictly consistent? There are times where I can't place a corner piece down because the wall isn't a corner there and it will only snap to the wall, or times I've wanted to divide a building but I can't because it's not a floor edge. And using a workaround like temporarily adding in a wall to snap to and removing it causes the "interior/exterior" position detection to fail and change the visuals to the wrong type. (Honestly that could be a part on it's own, I'd really love to be able to pick the visuals of the wall I'm...

I built a base near an area with a colossal amount of expensive buried fossils and ended up making a ton of money, so I added some starships to my collection. I ended up coming up with a theme for naming my ships: they’re all named after cheesy power metal songs about space stuff. My main ship is called the “Infinite Shred Machine”, affectionately named after the song Cosmic Power of the Infinite Shred Machine by DragonForce.

I love seeing how creative you guys get with naming and personalizing your ships and fauna and whatnot, so please comment any interesting or funny names you’ve chosen!

How to make a "hold button" toggle when double tapping a button using the Steam Controller Configurator? [Question]

So I recently got into the farming of planetary plants and I realized I could just hold X down on my Xbox controller continuously as I run by plants to pick them up. But trying to walk/look around while holding the button is inconvenient so I figured I'd use the Steam controller mapping to set up a toggle so that when I Double Press X it'd toggle on/off as though I was holding it down.

I've messed with the Steam controller mapping before in other games (and a little in this one with switching a few things around) but every time I feel like I'm just missing something. I've set the second activator on the X button to be "Double Press", have the button to "emulate" set to X (also tried E for the keyboard command), and have the Toggle setting turned on. I don't think I need Turbo or Repeat settings involved. But then I don't understand what the Fire Rate start and delay things are. Any help is appreciated.

Enemy Alien NPCs

I’m not talking about NPC spaceships. I mean as in the on-foot type of enemies. There should be hostile alien enemies that you can like, engage in a firefight with your multi tool with. Maybe not make them as tough as sentinels but give them abilities and weaponry similar to the player to give a more challenging experience. Bounty Hunter System

Rather than just hunting down and killing some pirates. There could be a bounty Hunter system that could tie into the enemy aliens system where you hunt NPC enemies on the ground and maybe even pursue them into space for more engaging gameplay. Space Landing

Where we have the option to land on certain things in space like asteroids or abandoned bases and do some asteroid mining or jet pack from asteroid to asteroid with the option to recall to your ship, Or even make space bases aswell! They can always add a extreme cold hazard to deter long term exploration without the right gear? Planet Wars

You can participate in wars between different procedural factions, guilds, races, settlements etc. and can get different rewards and benefits for helping a side in the war effort. Maybe even start your own wars or even against the sentinels? Hunting Bounties

Maybe missions to hunt specific unique creatures that are more challenging and dangerous for high level rewards? Crime System

Join a crime syndicate or start your own to function as a new faction system. Get illegal and powerful gear and rewards and possibly expand the crime system with new possible crimes, such as the ability to kill friendly NPCS for gain, steal things, commit heists, extort and bribe NPCS, steal starships and many other possibility’s? Infested/Diseased Planet and Space Stations

Some planets or space stations could spawn with an infection. Causing them to become abandoned and volatile, but filled with rare and unique gear you can...

Explorers Guild in Expedition Phase 5 [Question]

Hi everyone, I need a little help with this part of Phase 5 from the Exobiology Expedition.

This is the last part I need to do, and I have not done any Guild missions before.

I belive you go to stations, but I do not see Guild members at them, do I need to do something first and also when I do find them, what missions are the most efficient ones to select?

Seriously stuck [Question]

I’m new to the game and doing Expeditions for the first time. I rescued the settlement and killed the sentinels. Now I’m supposed to go to the middle of the settlement, interact with the terminal, and become the overseer….except that when I do, it just gives me the info on the settlement and no option to become the overseer. What am I missing?

I haven't played the game for a couple years and jumped back in a couple weeks ago. Decided to try out the Expedition mode after about 60 hours of survival mode, this is my first Expedition.

Is it possible to purchase a better ship or am I stuck with this starter ship?

spitballing... how might a space combat update work? [Discussion]

So, Sentinels have had a combat boost. But what about 'NMS: Starfighter' ? Personally I find ship bound combat too easy. For me, combat in space needs a few things: For the power of ships spawned to fight you to scale with your own ship's class, for the support, or number of enemies, to increase based on your faction standing and the conflict level For freighter and frigate guns to do meaningful damage to yourself and AI ships, for freighters to have health bars for their tech slots, with tech taking damage during combat, so you have to repair them to use your freighter fully again, For there to possibly be defense platforms in addition to space stations (like the sentinel nodes on planets), and of course I'd love a living freighter that can be scoped out via a quicksilver upgrade added to the living ships. Living freighters might only apoear in systems with infested worlds.

What would you like to see within realistic expectations?

What the hell was THAT? [Discussion]

(Sorry, didn't think to get a screenshot.)

I'm relatively new to NMS. "Only" 30 hours on my save and still in my 2nd system. I found a beautiful half-aquatic planet, and decided to take a deep dive and explore. I was swimming around, harvesting resources, and just as soon as I thought "this is a lot more relaxing than Subnautica", 4 ghostly white jellyfish came out and started chasing me! I had already discovered all the fauna on the planet, and when I looked at them in the scanner they didn't show up at all - as if they weren't there. So not aquatic sentinels, nor any other kind of lifeform the scanner can see. Creepy!

Got so freaked out I just swam away. They chased me the entire time until I made it back on land; then they just dove into the sand at the shoreline and were gone.

This is the first aggressive life I've ran into; I thought everything in this game was passive to you except the Sentinels (and even them only when provoked).

Anyone else run into stuff like this?

Expedition Frame Rate [Question]

Hey y'all, this is my first expedition and when I made it to the first rendezvous point last night my frame rate dropped to 8 fps. I assume it was because of all of the bases that people left on the planet. I ended up getting about 30 frames, but my question is, will the rest of the expedition be like this? Transducers / butt kickers? [Question]

I'm new to the game (15-20 hours in) and am playing in vr on a reverb g2. I play sitting in my gaming rig, I am wondering how I might be able to incorporate my transducers to improve immersion. For many sim racing games offer telemetry data and tools like sim hub can use that data to fire them at the right times, is there something similar for nms? I see no mention here of anyone using them.

Merging Saves [Question]

Is there a way to merge my save from the Expedition into my main one?

I have done some stuff in the Expedition that I would like to keep stuff like discoveries and Companions stuff like that. My other save is 132 hours in, and my Expedition is only 13.50 hours.

Activated Indium Farm Assistance [Question]

Hello fellow space cadets. Just found my first S-Class activated indium deposit, and was wondering what your extraction rates are. I’m pulling roughly 5k/hr, but wondering if there is anyway to increase that. I have roughly 30 extractors and 45 supply depots. Any tips on collecting more? Im a new player and I just discovered [Information]

You can use the Terrain Manipulator to mine nodes. Ill dig a hole next to the node, switch to the manipulator and drag through the node to harvest. Makes it a ton faster and I dont think there is any loss, and even if there is its so quick I dont care. Just wanted to share.

HUD Questions [Question]

When using a Multi-Tool for harvest resources, the goal is to keep it in the red for the best results.

It sometimes get's hard to see on the HUD where the red ends on the bar and an overheat happens. Example

Have the minotaur controls changed? [Question]

Possibly a dumb question, but hadn't played for a while, but saw the addition of the AI piloting to the minotaur and thought it was worth trying.

Thing is, now when I'm piloting the minotaur myself, it seems like it's now tethered to mouse movement. Might have been before and just forgot, but now having a lot of problems trying to mine with it since I can't target with the mining laser or the cannon without moving the entire exosuit.

Is there something I'm missing here?

Anyone else annoyed by screen flashes? [Discussion]

One of my biggest pet peeves with this game is how there is a bright flash every time you start or stop the pulse engine. There really should be an option to disable this, as it makes it really uncomfortable to play in the dark if you are somewhat photosensitive.

Controversial Opinion: Player to Player Combat should not result in Ban! [Discussion]

I feel like if a game such as no man sky is made then you should not get banned for player to player combat. The game advertises a vast universe where you can do anything, there are even pirates in the game but when it comes to a player attacking another player we have a problem, why??

I love being a pirate in games like this, This is the main reason I play Elite Dangerous soo much. I would love to play this game but I don't want the hassle of I am not allowed to do as I wish in a open universe sandbox game because some people consider it greifing or trolling!

Questions regarding the potential of the NMS algorithm [Question]

My main question is could NMS use the algorithm to model a planet after earth? With the current tech NMS is built on, if hello games chose to, could they pick one planet, model it to look like earth, and as you model update the algorithm as such so that specific planet always appears as a earth replica.

I'm asking more as help understanding the tech. I'm not sure if procedural generation could be used in that mannor or if it consequentially has to be fully random. By my logic it should be completely possible to manually model a planet to look however you want it and just have the algorithm follow suit so that when you actually play the game the algorithm creates the planet you modeled on the fly keeping memory space low but being able to create massive exact models.

Can't say much about the new one so far, I haven't been exploring yet I just warped last night before bed. If you haven't done this yet be warned, a lot of your tech will get damaged that isn't in tech slots and the multi tool tech as well, almost all of it got damaged but luckily I had plenty of supplies on my freighter. I got to the end purely by luck. I used the portal in the nexus and jumped to one of the portals listed and it happened to be just one jump from the very last planet before jumping through the core.

Is there an egg trading group or location? [Discussion]

Tittle says most of it. I have some eggs I'd be willing be part with, and have been trying to find others with some eggs for interesting pets. I have a 3 meter robo deer and a 3 meter flying dragon/butterfly in my inventory ready to hatch. I spent about an hour sitting next to the egg sequencer trying to talk to people that came over to sequence, but no one seems open to that kind of thing. Maybe there's a group, or a special location where that kind of thing happens? If not, I'm happy to host at my beachside resort in Eissantam.

Mineral Extractors not working. Gold Mine [Bug]

Gold mine was working fine this morning when I took my gold and left. Came back this afternoon and the silos are empty showing zero total capacity. Mineral extractors are completely powered and doing there little animation that shakes the screen as they mine but are producing zero gold and showing as offline. I've redone all the wiring connections but that did not fix.

Can’t build in freighter properly? [Question]

i can't sell my derelict freighter rewards in nms because the freighter spawned in an abandoned system [Question]

I just salvaged a derelict freighter, but the system the freighter is in has a space station with nobody in it and all of the panels are all gross and goopy. supposedly i can sell my crew manifest and captains log to the guild envoy or scrap dealer, but it doesn't seem like an option in any other system and there is nobody to sell to in the system the derelict freighter was in. is there a way I can profit or are the supplies basically worthless?

The game seems much more stable on PC than on xbox. [Suggestion]

Up until today, I've been playing on xbox one, but it has been really glitchy and crashed a lot. I have gamepass ultimate, so I decided to download the game for my PC and try it to see if it might be less glitchy and crash less. I've only been playing on PC for 2 or 3 hours, but so far, it does seem less glitchy and more stable. When I was playing on xbox earlier this afternoon, I got stuck in an infinite teleport every time I tried to teleport to my base, and had to close the game. Then, I was doing an explorers guild mission, and the game crashed the second I was finished the mission. I was right next to my ship, but I didn't get a chance to get in and out of my ship to create a save point. It crashed literally the second I was finished the mission. In 1 hour of playing on xbox, I had to close the game 4 times, and it crashed once. In 2 or 3 hours of playing on PC, I haven't had any problems whatsoever.

If you have gamepass ultimate (it includes gamepass for PC), I definitely recommend trying it on PC. The graphics look better, too.

Two different downloads of NMS on my PS5? [Question]

I got a PS5 for my birthday last month. The first thing I did was upload my PS4 save data, so I've been playing the game on my PS5 ever since. Today, my PS5 asked if I wanted to download No Man's Sky for free; thinking it was referring to a simple update or something, I clicked "Download." Now I have NMS on my PS5 dashboard twice, and each version is different. One of them is brand new and has no saves and no progress. What I want to know is if this new version should be any different graphically (or in any other way) than the one I've been playing for weeks. I'm not tech literate, so l can't work out what's happening here. Have I just been playing a PS4 game on PS5 and have I now downloaded a version that's optimized specifically for PS5? Should I delete the new version? Any help here is appreciated.

Beautiful Planets Hate Me - Help! [Question]

Hey everyone!

I’m working my way through the latest expedition but have become sidetracked by a personal quest to find a settlement on a paradise planet to my liking. I’ve looked up guides on how to search for paradise planets and have so far found 4 planets I’d be happy to invest my time in and call home.

The thing is, I can NEVER get a single settlement to appear on these planets. All 4 have water, are inhabited, thriving with commercial activity.. yet whenever I use a settlement chart, it’ll either throw an error (in which case I’ll reload a well-placed manual or auto save to try again,) or identify a settlement off-planet, ALWAYS located on some barren, ugly, hellish world. Is anyone else having this problem? I’ve tried reloading and using the settlement finder charts over & over & over, but this game refuses to identify even ONE settlement on a paradise planet for me. In two cases, the chart would identify multiple settlements across EVERY OTHER PLANET IN THE SYSTEM except for the planet in standing on. Am I missing something? Are other people actually able to find a planet they like and then find a settlement on said planet? It’s feeling impossible for me. At this point it’s the only thing I’d like to do in this game and I’m ready to call it quits.

I’ve already watched the standard “how to find a settlement on a planet of your choosing” YouTube videos, but nothing has worked, not even once. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Find my Weepeling? [Question]

Yesterday I adopted my first baby. It was a weepeling on a planet with goat-like creatures with two legs. And one bear/lion with 4 legs and a long tail and wings.

I adopted my weepeling and I called her Weep Weep. She does this thing when she looks at you she just shakes her booty at you.

So yesterday I landed on a friend's S Class ship and a bug occurred where I started falling. I couldn't get back on the ship so I had to load in again. So I did but ....when I looked inside my inventory. Weep weep was gone...

My friend has jumped to a new side of space and we don't know how to get back or where it was.

My other friend who was in the party also adopted a creature from the planet.

I just want my weep weep back. Any ideas?

Im locked from doing the expedition until tomorrow [Bug]

The expedition default companion starts off with a very short egg timer so you can get the the paradise planet and get the egg milestone right away.

I got the egg and the milestone, then my game crashed. I reloaded to find that i no longer have the milestone, but i have the egg, and my companion’s egg timer is now 24hrs.

Atlas passes are weird? [Question]

I’m wondering what the purpose of Atlas Passes being stackable objects are if they’re non consumables? Wouldn’t it make more sense to have them be a technology installation, and instead of having three separate stackable slots filled up, just make it one upgradeable Atlas pass tech? Help with Artemis Path Questline [Question]

I really need some help with the Artemis Path mission, more specifically the Patterns in Time section, I am up to the part where I need to speak to A Vy'keen Cartographer. However, every time I speak to him, it just comes up with what it always does, the four options: 'Ask for help', 'Exchange Planetary Charts', 'Purchase Random Map', and 'Leave'. Then on the bottom left (as always) you have the mission 'planner' that tells you what to do. Should I try another system or is it a glitch?

Texture Bug [Bug]

Heyho!

Anyone else got this very annoying bug when after some time the character textures look like shi*? This also affects flags and other decoration items. Base building is almost impossible with this bug... I don't know how exactly these things really look when they look like this. I have to restart the whole game to make it go away. But after 20 minutes, it looks like this again...

I really want to love this game but these 1.000.000 bugs kill it for me. I keep reporting them but no a single one got patched out yet (after several months).

Before anyone asks... drivers are on the newest version, I only have this problem in No Man's Sky and NO I won't reinstall Windows.

I am doing exobiology and after searching many planets I still am unable to find one, I am getting tired of swimming and my headset has died atleast 5 times since I started searching. Am I doing something wrong?

Initiating sentinel shutdown could cause a brief onslaught of Sentinels [Suggestion]

So, the fact they just let us do it without any struggle feels a bit cheap. Here's my suggestion:

Upon initiating the sentinel shutdown, the player will have to survive an attack of sentinel drones for around 30-60 seconds, difficulty of this onslaught will increase with Sentinel presence on the planet. The player will also have to stay in an area around the Sentinel Pillar during the event, leaving the area will pause the timer and cancel the shutdown should the player not return within 10 seconds.

Does anyone else would love to see moving hands in ego-perspective when inside your spaceship? [Suggestion]

I think this would create a much bigger immersion for me. The models are already there for the VR users.

I love the inside of the space ship and seeing moving hands would be such a nice detail. Moving the joystick when steering and stuff...

Multiplayer Saves [Question]

If me and my friend both are in the same system, on the same planet, play together at the same, but then both go into a solo of the same save file, what would happen if both of us make different changes in that save then join each other again?

How do you get the new minotaur parts? [Question]

Best I can come up with is you have to get a quest first from defending your settlement but I've defended it twice now and got no quests, while making almost 40 decisions to (almost) max out happiness/productivity and have zero maintenance costs. I have no buildings left to build.

I can see the arms and legs in Creative mode but how do I unlock them in Normal?

Expedition 5 overall was a very mixed bag for me. [Discussion]

So I just got done with Expedition 5 the other day and while past expeditions took me ~4 to 4.5 hours total to complete the milestones....this one took triple the amount of time to complete at over 12 hours...but for the wrong reasons.

The first few milestones that took me a lot of time was finding the different eggs and the different milk. It took a LOT of time to hop back from system to system to find everything, even had to resort to coming here to this sub to backtrack to certain systems and whatnot, since I realized I didn't get enough of some of the egg and milk types (I'll admit, my bad). And to top it off, when I did finally finish this section, the base decals and posters weren't showing up for me after I redeemed them on my main save, which gave me a bit of a scare that I went through all that cooking for nothing. But thankfully, this bug has been fixed as of the latest build pushed out today. (Thanks HG! :D)

But the eggs and the milk were absolutely nothing compared to the milestone I hated the most:

Getting the Explorers Guild Ranking up to level 16.

I absolutely hated this part for a few different reasons. First of all; you are often at the mercy of the RNG of each system's mission boards. And this wouldn't have been a huge deal if you only had to get the rank up to like 5. But 16? (Yes, I know why it's 16 but still...) It took me so, so long to find system with Explorers guild missions I could actually do, since I'd often get missions that required too high of a rank to accept. So I was taking absolutely anything I could find.

And here's the second part why I didn't like this Explorers Guild Ranking milestone. Because of this grind and RNG based luck; it's advised to stack certain mission types for them that you can do on any planet all at once. One of the fastest and easiest missions you get early on is; killing animals on the...

The game thinks WASD keys are the arrow keys. [Bug]

So, this just randomly happened when I was bringing my Roamer back to base.

I tried remapping the keys to WASD, but then I held down the W key to confirm the remap, the Up key icon displayed in the key bind.

Did a restart, did a key bind reset. Not sure what happened here.

Buy Ps5 version on PSNor Ps4 version physical and get upgrade? [Question]

Hi guys! I'm very new to NMS. In fact I'm SO new, I haven't bought it yet on my PS5. So I have a very silly question Id like to clear up: I'd like to pick this up today, but I was wondering how? So I see it's $59 on the PS store but I have seen the physical copies much cheaper. If I were to buy the physical version on the ps4 and play it on my ps5, will I still be able to get the next Gen upgrades? Just wanna save some money.

Stuck on Ghosts in the machine [Question]

Hey everyone,

I've been playing this game on and off for quite some time on the PS. Got about 45 hours on my main save file and have just finished all the Atlas Terminals. However, I seem to have gotten myself stuck on 'Ghosts in a machine' - the "Expand and staff your new home". As I understand it you should by now have gotten the blueprint from Artemis, (and from the research I've done) and build the cylinder shaped base. Issue is that I have done every step but still don't have any blueprints to any terminals. I've checked the catalogue and all my terminals have "???" marks on them.

What am I missing? Or could this whole thing be a glitch?

Hyperdrive Range [Question]

I've been trying to max out the hyperdrive range of a S class explorer but after several weeks of farming best i got was a 167 stat on the ship i wanted.

My question is there a way to calculate what the hyperdrive range would have been if the bonus was 80% instead of 67%? I have have all s classes upgrades of lets say 245 each + everything else installed (not the atlas though) and right now a have apprx. 2955 ly.

just out of curiosity, cause I really wanted a 180 stat ship to max it, but really after weeks i just couldn't farm it any more lol

Problem "the purgue/reset interface" mision [Bug]

Hi friends,

I'm on the mission called "lthe purgue/reset interface". I activate the portal without problems, I cross that portal but I don't get anywhere, it's an infinite journey that doesn't end. I have tried it by leaving up to 3 hours in infinite travel until I had to close the game.

Has anyone else had this problem?

What's the weirdest planet that you have found/know of? [Discussion]

I am wondering about it, as result of what I found myself today.

Tropical moon, but no storms - not bad so far. But also, have some sort of chromatic fog present. The fog makes colors transition from full colors up close, to all bright green shades in afar. Planetary Settlements refuse to spawn on my home planet [Question]

So, I live on a paradise world, A literal perfect planet for life, no sentinels, no hazard like weather, literally perfect. Now the first time when I found a settlement from the distress beacon it spawned on a literal volcanic world, I had left that system anyway, so I was like "Okay, new system with this paradise world" built my base and everything is going great. System has 5 planets, a barren, desert, decaying nuclear, scorched, and the paradise world. I go to the cartographer and get a planetary settlement chart. Hours I've spent reloading saves and hitting the chart button trying to get it to spawn on the paradise planet, and the ONLY 2 places settlements will spawn are the 2 most inhospitable planets in the system, the decaying nuclear and the scorched world, am I just the avatar of bad luck with these damn things or does NMS refuse to spawn settlements on actual life inhabiting worlds????
