How/where do I start the expedition? [Question]

I feel like a total noob, but (in spite of the fact that I'm in total protest of the idea that these expedetions are time sensitive and up until now have basically been avoiding playing because I've already missed ALL of the other ones, and am now screwed out of those rewards in spite of having been a player of this game since launch) ... I have no idea where to pick up the actual mission. Help, please?

I messed up.

Expedition 5, Phase 4. COLEOPTEROLOGY Adopt a beetle companion.

I took off from the 4th rendezvous system before I found a beetle and now I’m not sure how I’m supposed to find one. 2 hours of random system hopping hasn’t worked out so far.

Anyone remember the name of the 4th rendezvous system so I can try to trace my path back?

A few tips for the new update [Discussion]

After a few hours playing (and loving it) i have a few tips for the new update:

1- Nanite, Nanites and more nanites:

a) Royal Multitools can come in class, which means you have to spend a lot of nanites to get the S class (at least 50k if you go from class A to S)

b) new companion slots: after the 6th each slot is 20k nanites so youll need 240k nanites to unlock all

c) Nanite schemes: always a good reminder

i) Ship reselling schemes: mainly finding a good hauler, repairing some of its containers and then sell it in stations, for other ships, scrapping and retaking the ship (don't know if it works under the latest patch)

Swarmed Milestone Help [Question]

Hey folks. I'm having trouble with the Swarm milestone of Phase Two in which you need to amass a group to 10 creatures. I understand that you need to feed them and then there is a cool down before they get bored and wander off, but my problem is I can never seem to amass more than 8. Maybe the planets I've visited just don't have enough fauna? It's rather annoying. Any tips for this one?

Expeditions [Question]

So I've been playing for a while now, but I've never done an expedition before. Didn't care to much about any of the rewards, but with the new update I want to get the quad sentinel to have myself a sentinel squad. Can anyone explain to me how they work and what's involved? I know I need to essentially start fresh, but not much outside of that.

Friend can't join his save file [Question]

So me and my friend have started playing NMS today after I showed it to him. We played during the afternoon, but now at night, he can't join saying that the version of NMS is incompatible with his safe. He's using the Game Pass version of NMS so I don't know if there's any issue with it as I've used the Steam version all the time and I've never had issues like this, so I would like to know if anyone who also uses GP has run into issues with non-existing updates not allowing one to play their saves.

If it matters, they can join by creating a new one, but not loading it in.

Expedition 5 Tall Eggs [Question]

Hi everyone,

I've been searching for HOURS for tall eggs for this expedition and I cant for the life of me come across any strider creatures. Please please PLEASE can someone tell me where they are ? I am assuming on atleast one of the star systems that contain the rendezvous points? I found giant eggs, creatures eggs but nothing else.

Expedition lush planet bugged? [Question]

Hi guys, trying the expedition now.

Task 6 phase 1 ask to visit a lush world. But in the bottom right of the screen it says visit a verdant planet.

I landed on a tropical planet and a Viridescent planet but the quest did not complete. Do I have to find a verdant one or is it bugged? I don't think I have seen a verdant planet in 60h of gameplay

Rescuing freighters question [Question]

I know that you have to have a session that has lasted 3 hours to be able to save a freighter from pirates. If you wait another 3 hours in the same session can you do it again, or do you need to start a new session?

Some way of automating processes would be really cool. Like even just a simple hopper system similar to Minecrafts. [Suggestion]

So title, basically

You can kind of get around this with just large amounts of refiners, but that can be annoying and bloaty to deal with when you have to go into each one, interact with all of the items, etc. Especially with how long doing things in menus already takes in this game.

Being able to have an input hopper and some way of like auto item storage would be cool. Although I'm not sure how compatible a system like that would be with the games current item system.

A traveler can dream, i guess.

Is it worth getting back into NMS again for this sentinel update? [Question]

I've been grinding NMS for the last 2.5 years. I have over 650 hours in the game and I am undoubtedly out of things to do. I haven't played NMS for a couple months now because I'm just burnt out. I have enjoyed all of the expeditions that I've played; however, I'm not crazy about the idea of starting yet another save just to play the latest expeditions that they release.

Could someone please give a brief synopsis of the sentinel update and comment on whether it is worth playing? What are the major changes? Is there a new expedition along with it? Does it provide a decent amount of new content like the base building update did? Is there anything that would get a seasoned player excited and the game again?

Any responses are much appreciated.

Glyph advice. [Question]

What am I missing about glyphs to collect them all? I've watched a few videos that pretty much tell you to look for travelers but have also said you could just complete the Artemis quest line which I'm pretty sure I did but I don't have all the glyphs. I have 3 and I can't seem to find any more traveller's.

Exobiology Expedition. Rendezvous 4. [Information]

A fair warning for people. There are a couple of guys killing people for no reason at Rendezvous 4. I witnessed them kill 25 or so players over & over again. Luckily I had PVP turned off so I was fine. Just a heads up, folks. They are hanging around just to kill people.

Six months later, still no ability to disable contextual base buildings? Mods? [Question]

I picked up the game after the latest update. I love base building but I was very disappointment when my walls and windows started changing shape depending on their position. I can't build anything else than cube rooms otherwise it would looks ugly and misplaced.

Did some research and lots of people complained about this last September. About 6 months have passed now, is there any way to disable this feature and place the pieces we want manually? Any mod that does this (I'm on PC)?

As A Day One Player, Thank You Hello Games [Discussion]

I know you guys probably see posts all the time like this but I just wanted to make one too.

I pre ordered this game because the idea was so bombastic and amazing how could you not. From the interviews, to concepts, and to the gameplay it looked revolutionary. I had never even considered playing a game like this, but I was ALL IN.

Come launch we all know how that went. Frustration and un playability was rampant and people were devastated, myself included. I straight up could not play the game for over a week (maybe more it has been so long). I was so upset that I gave up playing the game, I never refunded it in hopes that one day I may pick it up again since the idea was so amazing.

To this day, that has been one of the best choices game wise I have ever made. I can not explain how insane Sean, and the team must be. They were beaten nearly to death with hate and slander but yet they stayed the course. They stayed with their dream. Let me tell you, this team probably STILL is not praised enough for what they have done.

Gaming industry aside, not many companies especially small can recover from the disaster that they experienced. The thing is not only did they survive, they have thrived and thrived may not even do them justice. They have passed so many gaming expectations it is insane. They have not only set the bar, they beat the hell out of it and became the standard for what gaming is and should be.

The love and passion in their hearts is what people need to thrive for, and it is probably the most inspiring story I have ever seen. I seriously would watch a movie about it, because damn they could really show what dedication can do.

As someone struggling in a career doing conservation work and having to jump from poor paying job to poor paying job you have given me hope. I love what I do, and you have shown me as long as you love what you do...

If Biological Horrors recieved the 'Sentinel Update' treatment... [Suggestion]

The excellent update to combat is significantly improving dynamic gameplay of planets, yet like most things in NMS, always room for more. So what if biohorrors took a step up as well? While I can't comment on how exactly variety in attacks and tactics might be improved/changed, the most obvious way to improve their presence would be to have their eggs show up in caves.

This would help introduce more than one type of location to encounter bio-horrors, typically found outside of abandoned facilities, however moreover it would lend much needed activity to the stunningly beautiful caves on planets.

Incentive wise, a sandworm nest where a curled up worm can be found, and battled for a time in order to make it leave the area and reveal an exotic trade item may be appropriate.

Beyond that I would defer to HG design choices.

Freighter feature [Suggestion]

We should totally be able to bring our freighter to other planets (in the same system) from inside the freighter. Especially if your using your freighter as a base for mining operations and whatnot. I use mine as a storage dump/ portable teleporter when I’m exploring/mining, so i thought it would be cool to use as a quick and “realistic” way get from planet to planet.

(You can make fun of me in the comments if this is already a thing and I’m just oblivious)

Starship's Teleport Receiver not Working [Question]

Hi All,

​

As a new player I fell victim to the trap the game sets at the start and picked up one of the crashed ships on one of the first planets. I have since spent a lot of time completely doing up that starship and clearing all the "damaged" slots. The reason for this was because I recently managed to land a free freighter and now I want to work up to getting cool ships, some maxed out multi-tools, etc. to show off on my freighter.

To start the process I've been slowly building medium refiners in my freighter and buying all the oxygen I can get my hands on and working on stacks of chlorine. I then bought the "Teleport Receiver", repaired the damaged technology slot and installed the receiver, with the plan to pump as much resources into the starship as possible as I visited as many planets as I could for chlorine and salt. NOTE: This is the Starship I'm talking about, not the freighter. Still working out how to get the Frigate parts to get the Freighter equivalent tech.

However, no matter what I do, it says the Starship is not in range despite being within 500u and having the receiver installed as per the image HERE.

​

Am I missing something glaringly obvious?

I'm returning to No Man's Sky once again for the new expedition. I'm using a PS4 controller on PC, but I'm getting xbox prompts instead of ps prompts in-game.

I tried checking + unchecking "Playstation Configuration Support" in the controller settings, but nothing seems to change anything.

Did anyone else have this problem recently?

Random disconnects [Question]

I am playing on Xbox1 and have charter (spectrum) internet. I have a REALLY random disconnect issue, does anyone else? Any suggestions other than ISP change? Once I can get a 50ft ethernet cable I can try hard wired, currently wireless.

Game constantly crashes on PC. [Question]

I'll post this in the techsupport subreddit if it's not appropriate here but the issue only affects No Man's Sky so I thought I'd start here.

The game crashes 100% of the time anywhere between a few minutes up to 20-30 minutes in to play. It's unpredictable too. It happens during gameplay or even at a standstill like in a space station when not even touching the controller. This has been happening for months. I have tried everything Mr. Google has suggested but there must be something I'm missing.

Anyone else experience this? Any suggestions on what I can try?

Hardware tests passed, drivers are up to date but I've tried downgrading with no luck, I've uninstalled/reinstalled, I've verified the integrity of the files, I've erased the shader cache, I even completely wiped my machine and did a fresh install of everything and did not load my saves and started fresh and it still fails. I love the game and am disappointed I can't play.

Stuck above Anomaly in expedition [Bug]

I just encountered a bizarre bug while playing the new expedition. The Anomaly was glitching out when I flew in and when I got out of my ship I was above the main space of the Anomaly with no way to get down. Every time I reload the autosave it loads me above the Anomaly still. I don't have a manual save to load since I'm still early and have never manually saved. Any ideas for a workaround or is my save permanently borked?

PSA for Expedition 5: Your starter system will be an abandoned one but abandoned space stations still have a Galactic Trade Terminal inside it [Information]

Selling those 2 Storage Augments you get as a reward for finding your ship will net you around 250,000 units (which is far more valuable than having two extra ship slots imo). Use that to stock up on the necessities (Oxygen, Sodium, Ferrite Dust, Ion Batteries, Life Support Gel). I’m also a huge fan of refueling my ship via Uranium vs crafting fuel from Di-hydrogen & metal plating.

And don’t forget to turn off PvP! Enjoy the Expedition 😄

Is it too early to get a living ship, will it spoil stuff for the game, be too overpowered [Question]

I was at the space anomaly when a random guy gave me supplies worth about 200 million credits and a void egg

Afterwards my ship has turned from all orange to black with orange accents? (Not sure if that has something to do with any of this) And I have gotten a mission for living ships

Best weapon for your multy tool [Question]

Now that we are doing more PVE with the new update i want to arm my multitool with the best sentinal destroying weapon. I tried the new nuetron canon upgraded with s class mods but it just doesnt do the job well. Saw some videos passivly mention pulse spitter but never went into detail on it. Any tips?

"Unconventional travel may be required." [Question]

I've been following the galaxy map's path for more than 9 hours for a better 30,000 light years to find this "specific planet" the void egg is demanding, but after being redirected to some systems I've already been to a few times, I can't help but feel as if I'm doing something wrong, despite trusting this flight path I'm gradually receiving. Is this how I'm supposed to find my way to this planet, or am I doing something horribly wrong? I'm gradually running out of warp cells and running out of crafting materials.

Hey so I’ve been stuck on the Artemis story line where Apollo sends me to collect nanites. When I go to the abandoned place he sends me to, it doesn’t give me nanites and the machine is unresponsive, I’ve traveled through many systems since and haven’t been able to get out of range of the mission if that’s possible ? Aggressive sentinels make no sense. [Discussion]

How was it that aggressive sentinels can chase you halfway across the planet, but the moment they become activated (as in you gain a threat level and swarms of them are spawned and they attack you) they suddenly become as slow as a snail? I've been chased for what could be considered miles by aggressive sentinels "scanning" me, but the moment they decide to actually attack me and spawn in their reinforcements, I'm able to lose them by simply running for a few seconds and one direction? I spent longer being chased by a sentinel, than in actual combat with the sentinels. Honestly I just think this is annoying, they can stick to me like glue when I'm not in combat with them but the moment they aggro and initiate combat they just fall to the wayside and are completely useless. I know we just went through this whole update, but I feel like this portion of their AI fell totally short. If they can chase me across an entire planet basically, when there's 10 of them all 10 of them should be able to chase me down when combat is initiated. Otherwise this whole system is kind of a joke and not immersive whatsoever.

Trading my burning ships for working ones [Question]

I just started playing the game about a month ago and I’ve claimed a couple of wrecked ships. At first I was excited, but once I realized how much time and energy it would take to repair them, claiming them started to seem pointless. Well it turns out those ships were quite valuable after all!

Yesterday I finally made my fifth jump and rescued a freighter from pirates. As I was working my way through the “intro to freighters” mission I made a mistake and decided to reload the autosave from when I’d boarded. When the game loaded, what did I find in the hangar? Both of my main ships, along with my two wrecked ships, just burning away on the landing pads!

The wrecked ships are not flyable, but if I set one as my main ship I can use it as a trade with any alien that lands in the hangar. Strangely enough, they’re quite happy to give me full price for these vessels that are literally on fire. So now I’ve got about 9M units worth of trading power for basically zero work.

So my question: Is it normal for wrecked ships to be warped to your capital ship, or did I hit a get-rich-quick-glitch??

I'm new to NMS and while I've gotten farther with things, I'm wondering about The Space Anomaly, I've warped to at least 4 different galaxies and still haven't gotten a transmission from Nada, I only know about Nada because I've watched playthroughs of NMS for fun, and every Youtuber I watch get a transmission from Nada not long after doing a mission that I know for a fact have done, I've relogged, Turned my internet on and off, even signed out of my PSN Account and signed back in, reloaded my saves, I started up a new save to try and see if it works then and it does, I have a lot of Units and Nanites and don't want to start a new save, does anyone know of a fix or something, I really don't want to start a new save and don't know what to do any help would be greatly appreciated!

The New Expedition: Exobiology

So, with the new expedition I was wondering, do the rewards carry over to future saves, or only current saves, and does anybody know some good tips for completing the phases, I've already done phase 1 and am working on the "Scan Flying Creatures" mission with 0 scanned, so any tips for the phases starting from "Scan Flying Creatures" and going to the final phase, again any help would be appreciated!

Do you think HG are ever going to address colliding planets? [Discussion]

Don't get me wrong, it's cool when you find two planets merging with eachother but it's also clearly an unintended bug. Like, the reason it's interesting at all is because it's broken. Do you think Hello Games will ever do something about them? Either by separating them or, I hope, by adding some kind of interaction with them? Like they could have the collision zone generate some kind of cataclysmic environments, like an enormous explosion with lava spreading out. Maybe generate some ejected material into space. It doesn't have to be functional, but it has the potential to look stunning.

What do you think?

Typically, I'll just go space station to space station, looking for travellers. After about 15 space stations, I've got all of the glyphs. I tried that today during my expedition save and I couldn't interact with the traveller. Is this by design?

Farming for nanites? Kill sentinals! [Information]

Many of you I am sure have been having a lot of fun with the new sentinal update, getting new and snazzy multi-tools and AI controlled mechs, these have alot to offer... but what about nantes?

Some players may have already found this but, for those who haven't, farming sentinals for salvaged glass is a great way to earn nanites. All you have to do is activate sentinal security and shoot!

Instructions:

Have a personal shield mod Have a weapon for your multi-tool (e.g. scatter blast) Go to planet (e.g. aggressive sentinals) Walk around for a bit or find and take gravitino balls/sac venom to summon sentinals Kill! Loot! Extract components from salvaged glass (exo-suit and multi-tool upgrades (these are the ones you want)) Go to space station Sell for nanites at upgrade vendors

Tip: don't kill the sentinals that summon/beam down/create other sentinals (the pyramid sentinals) just let them summon other sentinals and kill the summoned ones.

Hi All, myself and a few friends are looking to buy NMS but i know its gone through so many updates i wanted to ask a few questions regarding the multiplayer.

When playing multiplayer would we be able to share a base and resources etc and progress together? Also a not there are no servers so if we can share items can one of us play when the other arent online?

Were hoping to be able to do everything together (Base, Mechs, Fleets and settlements i think) but any insight into how it works would really help! Thank you :)

Sentinel Update - Need Help! [Question]

Hi everyone, so I went back to my settlement and had an epic battle with sentinels. I ended up getting the Hardframe Engine from the battle and a mission to meet Tethys at the anamoly to discuss.

Here's where I'm stuck: I need the Undamaged Drone Shell to proceed with the mission, but have been unable to find it.

Online it says you find it upon returning to your settlement and fighting those sentinels, but I've left and returned several times. Each time the same battle starts, but none of the sentinels drop the Undamaged Drone Shell.

Has anyone run into this or have advice on how to acquire it? Thanks!

16/16 Master the Portal permadeath problem [Question]

80 hours into my permadeath on steam. Finally got almost to the end of the null/Apollo. I opened the last portal & it dumps me into space. I can see an atlas station but I can’t move. At least I have time to reload my last save before dying.

Is this normal or should I try & restart the last step from a different planet?

I don’t remember the quest line so if I am going to get rescued & not die please let me know

Regarding Mining Speed [Question]

Hello!

So, I've been testing / toying around with / struggling to understand a few things about mining speed- after asking and reading around, I'm still just not quite sure. So basically:

Changing mining speed doesn't seem to affect mining "damage," although placing the modules in synergistic positions DOES seem to improve these numbers. I thought maybe the mining damage numbers didn't mean anything, so instead I tested on pure ferrite nodes, and:

I really can't measure a notable difference between 0 and 3 s-rank modules (aside from not overheating). Is mining speed a depreciated / bugged stat?

My "mining damage" and mining speed DID increase slightly when upgrading my rifle (specifically a rifle, which shouldn't have any mining bonuses) from A to S rank, which makes me wonder if mining speed is based on damage potential now?

Thoughts / knowledge on this?

5th Expedition advancement [Question]

I've never done an Expedition before - I've noticed that some other people have more advanced ships (like the golden alpha vector) or have completed the 5th expedition already.

Am I correct that had I done the other 4, I could claim the prizes to assist me on this one? How would I have claimed that assistance?

Am I missing something and I am just slow (highly likely this) that these people are already complete or did they play all day yesterday and I just need to keep working on it?

Bonus question: can I complete the whole expedition by just following the path and visiting the systems on that path or do I need to branch out to surrounding systems?

Someone mentioned in another post that the giant robot base that you can find in the starbase portals is on a swamp planet.

I am trying to scan and discover everything and I can’t see the remaining of flora and minerals to be discovered. There’s also no percentage (like 80% discovered). How do I know what I’m missing/where to look so I know what to focus on looking for?

Do gravatino hosts stop producing gravatino balls? [Question]

I'm getting close to 100 hours played and have started a small gravatino host farm. It has been quite profitable and a great source of units for me. However, the plants have not produced any gravatino balls in a few days and when I scan them, they display an infinite symbol where the grow time is usually displayed.

Do the plants in NMS have a harvest cap that I am not aware of?

Noob expedition Qs [Question]

Hii!! So this is my first expedition and I just passed the big choice in the game and have about 25-30 hours.

For the record one of the aspects I enjoy the most in this game is PETTING ALL THE THINGS! And currently have 2 companions with 2 open slots… for those that have played the Exobiology: Should I farm nanites to unlock more slots before starting exobiology ? Or can I farm during the expedition? I have only 5k nanites so one more slot I can purchase.

Companion genetics information? Or an API? [Question]

The vast majority of the companion genetics info I am finding is in images. Even the text is in big images. I would like to build a little app to sort and display information in a way that makes sense to me, so I need the most up to date information, if possible.

Well… I had fun, it was great, but it’s over. [Fan Work]

I kinda did the unthinkable, the thing that I never expected to happen. I blame the expedition. No.. I blame the dude that ruined my expedition before I even got to fix the ship. And I blame HG for spawning he’s and my ship at the same spot. And I blame myself for starting the expedition with multiplayer on (pvp off).

Long story short… the dude and I was at the same spot going crazy with mining stuff and we both had our ugly companions running around getting in the way. I somehow fell straight down as if the ground disappeared, then his (not mine) companion somehow was above me and I couldn’t get anywhere. So in my anger I quit the game and went to the menu fast to delete the save having all the button pressed kinda automated in my brain going by itself while I was swearing about the dude. Then I noticed that I deleted the wrong save.

You remember me, the radiant screenshot from a day or two ago. Yep…. I sat the Radiant Pillar down in Isdoraijung after a 180 hour survival run with no cheats and game breaking methods… (except the sunset glyph ride thing…. But that was after Essentaim) I was like… free, the galaxies was there in my hands, they were mine to explore as a free traveller. It’s all gone. No cloud backup, no tricks or magic can get that save back. It’s gone.

Technical Issue with GPU selection [Question]

Yo explorers! I am having an issue where I cannot select my primary GPU no matter what. I have 3x 1660 on mining duty and 1x 1070 which is for my gaming. The game is always trying to pick 1660's as primary. Even tho I select the 1070 from the in game menus, nVidia control panel, I still get to pick 1660 in the end. Is there a configuration file that I can manually select / set the GPU for the game?

Anyone know what this flickering and noise is? AA? [Question]

So my game never looked like this prior to either NMS updates, or me getting a new monitor. Both of which have happened since last time I played.

It does look to me like AA isn't working properly. Although TAA smoothens it out the most (what I'm using in the video), FXAA is even worse flickering. Unplayable I'd say.

It also appears to be very noisy looking all over. Almost like a filter isn't being applied to the camera.

I'm on a 1070.

I'm playing at native monitor resolution 1920x1080.

Tried to set render scale up to 200%, didn't help any.

Any ideas? I've gone over all settings and nothing seems to fix it. Might just be a new visual bug I don't know about, idk. Any tips appreciated regardless.

I think I got my answer but haven’t been able to apply fix yet. Someone DMed me and asked what I was doing before the BSoD, I told them I’d played No Man’s Sky with my friends and they said the anticheat gives people that type of BSoD (kernel security check failure).

Is this true? I don’t want to blame the game for my computer failing as I have had other computer issues recently.

Hello I have a problem with the Expedition 5. I am in the system for the 2nd meeting, but unfortunately the target point is not displayed to me, even though it is activated. .when i got into the system there was a freighter fight but i couldn't participate in it as there were no pirates there. instead i was targeted by the system police. .I've already changed the system and then I'm back to the target system. But always the same. Meeting point is not displayed.

living ship issue [Question]

I am at the more or less final part where I need to enter the portal. I have not done the multiple trips to get the individual glyphs and this may be my issue.

I do have what is listed on various guides as the correct sequence. When I go to monolith and then to portal site from there, I interact with the cylinder that rises and get the portals listed, but I am unable to put in the same glyph multiple times. If I activate all glyphs with elements, i cannot do anything more.

I do not see the circular ring of glyphs at the actual portal site at all.

How to make backups to a usb-stick and save this (several states) to the pc is clear. But just copy and renaming a file doesn't do the job.

I love the Expeditions, BUT, i wish they were replayable, forever. Started on your freighter, by selecting a crew member to embark on the mission. [Discussion]

I love the Expeditions. They are literally the size of the living ship update, a few times a year.

But what I hate is that they just dissappear, never to be played again. I hate that Hello Games makes this awesome content, and it goes away after a month and a half. Seems like a waste, almost like the old weekend missions with Ariadne is just a story gone forever.

What I would love to see is there would be an expedition terminal on your freighter, just like the frigate terminal. Where you would choose a member of your crew to send out on an expedition. This would then just start a new save, and play out the exact same way. But it would just be a growing list of new missions and quests added continually to the game, and always be replayable. But every few months there is a new event and expedition added. Starting them from the frieghter and selecting a crew member would give you more of a sense of having a crew and sending them out on an adventure. It would feel like a playable version of the frigate expeditions, or the expeditions you send settlers out on the settlements.

I know there was the expedition revisited, and that was awesome. But i would totally go back and do them again and again randomly.

Expeditions really have TESTED my sanity and knowledge of this game. i have so many HOURS.

so, i know HOW to get copper, i know HOW to make Chro metal.

but in this starter system theres no copper than finding buying it, but player made outlets dont have it. i found ONE outpost that sold copper by a super limited amount, but i dont even remember where that was, nor did i mark it.

So what else are people doing to build the hyperdrive? pulse around space to find that theing you can shoot to get chro metal?

TIL you can access your freighter inventory via landing on a frigate. [Information]

This might be a little useful thing for those who don't have the matter beam yet like me.

It's much faster to land and take off from the frigates than it is to land inside your freighter.

May not be much for most people but i find this game, while overall amazing, tends to have a lot of little downtime moments like landing, menus, etc. And things that help speed up processes make the game that much more enjoyable, for me anyways.

Multiplayer blinking [Question]

My friend and I began playing multiplayer for the first time but it keeps showing eachother 'other play has left the system' over and over so we appear to eachother to be blinking in and out of the game with our ships for a second or two at a time

Is this an known problem? Can anybody suggest a solution?

Expedition 5 - Reward Bugs [Bug]

Completed expedition 5 today and am encountering two problems. Wanted to see if anyone else is getting these:

When I take the Quad pet out, every user in the anomaly freezes. Sometimes as whatever they are doing, and sometimes every user freezes in a T-Pose.

Expedition Posters and Decal are not showing up in build menu after claiming.

"Best Friends Portrait" milestone not working [Question]

As the title says, the milestone isn't completing. As far as I know, there isn't a camera in game. But since I'm on xbox, I was told the "capture screenshot" button would work. I've taken about 30 pictures in different ways and the milestone still isn't completing.

Side question : Do I have to complete the phases in order? Or can I complete a phase 4 milestone while I'm working on a previous one

Photomode mission on XBox in Expedition 5 [Bug]

No matter what I do, can't seem to take photos

Expedition 5 - Phase 2 bugged. [Discussion]

Well, I've completed absolutely everything. All tasks in All phases except the "Companion Trust" task.

I have five companions, I tried having each out for (game) weeks, feeding and petting them constantly, I've tried hatching eggs, I've tried customizing them... They all top out at 65-75% and go NO FURTHER.

It seems the expedition is bugged. This will apparently be the first one I won't be able to complete. Unless they patch it.

Any word on when a fix is coming out?

Help needed-Trace of Metal [Question]

Could use some assistance here, I got my AI Mech man following me all around (no problems with that), got the Sentinels Flare Drone available, however, I cannot advance to the Hive Mind part.

I am stuck in a loop where I see the Trace of Metal (tag line??, lol) in the bottom right, and all it tells me is to Eliminate all Sentinels. I clear 5 waves, kill the 2 Walkers that spawn (never get a pristine brain, but not sure if I even need it). If I go to a new Sentinel Nest (which will occasionally pop up, I do 5 waves of Sentinels, but cannot advance etc.

Exobiology Expedition-Rendezvous 1 [Bug]

This is my first experience doing an expedition, and i was following the missions until I reached rendezvous 1 when i warped there i followed the marker then my game froze I had to restart and there is no marker for the rendezvous. I restarted the game multiple times and there is still no marker, is there anything i can do to get past this glitch?

My Next Self Made Mission [Discussion]

Just finished self made mission of one S Class Farm per galaxy for which I traveled through galaxies 1 to 29. (One galaxy has my runaway mold farm). Im thinking for the next mission, I will put one huge plant farm per galaxy, which will cover the next 12 galaxies. Probably only on Paradise Planets, just for kicks. Only about 6 more weeks of this winter gaming, then Golf season. Woo hoo.

Pet Trust for Expedition Phase 2 [Discussion]

Currently stuck on phase 2 of the expedition because not a single one of my pets which are all on 95% trust will budge higher. I’ve kept them fed and happy for numerous in-game days now. Both circles full and green the entire time, yet none of them will go beyond 95% trust. Is there some trick I’m missing? Have everything else done so It’s just this one challenge that is keeping me from moving forward. Any tips are appreciated 👍🏻

Could someone please explain what "system authority" means? [Question]

Every time I get attacked by pirates I summon my Capital ship to "help" me fight them off.

I know my AI allies do almost no damage to the pirates, but I wanted to know just how little.

so I just flew in circles around my capital ship for about 10-15 minutes letting the capital ship's cannons and the little fighters that help you out do their thing. But then I noticed something strange.

Little flying-wing ships that I had always assumed were fighter craft launched from my battle frigates were being shot at BY my capital ship! I knew that they are the same model that the Sentanils use to chase you off worlds but I thought that was Just Hello games being lazy.

"that's strange. why is my capital ship attacking those little ships that aren't attacking me?"

So I shoot one down to see what happens. "System Authority Vessels incoming!" The Sentinel wanted Level thing pops up and I destroyed 5 or so waves of little ships when an enemy capital ship appears and starts trading lasers with mine!

I destroy all of its turrets and fighters and it disappears. (LAME! why can't I kill it?!) Another one shows up and I kill that one! then the third one breaks my shields and kills me before I can replenish them (Down d-pad, down d-pad, X) How they killed me in less than half a second I'll never know.

So, what is the "System Authority"?

Are they Sentinels? If so, why are they attacking pirates?

Are they ships belonging to The controlling faction in the system (aka the Police)? If so, why do they care when I'm running from the Sentinels? And why do the sentinel wanted stars pop up when I fight them? and why don't I get a bounty for killing them? AND FOR THE LOVE OF RAPTOR JESUS WHY DO I STILL HAVE A FRIGATE STUCK IN LIMBO ACROSS 3 FUCKING UPDATES?!?!

Flight sensitivity on KB/M [Question]

when I set it to 100, it still turns like a brick, I don't even feel it slightly changing...

Photograph a group of 10 ground creatures not working on PSVR? [Question]

I have been trying to complete this expedition mission and it won’t register as complete. I’ve used food to gather a large group of creatures together, often far more than 10, I open up the photography menu and take multiple pictures from all angles and still it’s not complete. Anyone else having this problem? Is it a VR issue?

I thought this new expedition would be all about combat and sentinels to show off the new update but nope! I’ve got to collect poop, drag a companion every where for days just to get the trust maxed out, and more tedious tasks that I have never been interested in doing just to unlock stuff most of which will never be used on the new save I had to start for this! Keybindings to move vehicles. [Question]

My problem is, I'm left handed and I use the numpad to move around and to do most of things when I play games.

NMS gives a lot of freedom in how we can handle our keybindings, sometimes even exageratingly so. However, when it comes to exocrafts, the most important bindings are missing in the list: forward, backward, left and right.

I would be insanely grateful for anyone capable of helping me out and giving me a workaround to fix this. Keep in mind that I'm on linux, so external programs that change how the keyboard works are not viable.

Game crashing when I make my first building decision at my first settlement [Bug]

Hello NMS community!

I'm having an issue with my first settlement.

I've recently started a new save in Survival, and my first save since before the Expeditions update. I found a settlement last night and took the role of overseer. Everything went fine all the way through to building my overseer office. Now my two options to build are the space port, or power generator.

The issue is that when I select either option, my game completely freezes and stops responding within like 30 seconds of making the decision.

Things I've tried: restart game, verify game files via steam, restart PC.

I'm playing on Steam PC, with the most recent version of the game. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it has any bearing on this issue; the planet is abundant, and has bubbles.

Getting to a galaxy from the Anomaly? Xbox, Survival. [Question]

I recently deleted my save by mistake, very stupid and unfortunate. I have myself to blame only. Shit happens. But I was at a very happy place in my game experience. Was done with all the main quests and was looking forward to travel around there and do secondary quests and maybe find a home place. I’m thinking about that it would be easier and better if I could start over there. It would just feel better and help forget my dumb mistake. If it’s possible, I could just get to the anomaly and the use the portal to travel to another players base and restart my journey from there. But how do I know wich galaxy the bases are in? Is it in the base description? I’ll start a new save now and get the anomaly first.

I don’t ask of anyones time or energy to be spent on my dumb misstake. I’ll gladly do the whole 180 hour thing again, but this would definitively make it easier. If it works. And I’m tired of watching the news….

On Expeditions, and the luxury of choice [Discussion]

One of the good things about expeditions is that they give you a reason to try out elements of the game that you might not usually spend time on. For me, the couple of hours I’ve spent with expedition five have confirmed that I really don’t care about running round after animals.

It’ll be a bit annoying not to have a completion decal to hang in my freighter alongside the other four, but I’ve just started CP2077 and would much rather put time into that.

This feels like a good lesson. Life doesn’t always give you a choice, so when it does, choose the things you enjoy.

I have had a B class hauler with 47+11 slots. I like the look of it, I love how much space it has, most of all I like how expensive af it is.

I've been trying to find A or S class haulers with the same level of slots available, but to no avail.

Expedition Milestone 1, didn’t get the reward? [Question]

The Exobiology Expedition has “Pawprints” as its first milestone.

Upon completing the milestone I selected the button to receive the rewards, and I received the unearthed treasure and the pellets; but no Powerful Mining Beam Upgrade as was listed in the rewards.

Is there a way to get this back? Can I progress without this item?

My inventory is defaulting to Multitool [Bug]

This is soooo BUUUUGGGGEDD. I just started after a 3 year break been playing just fine for 4 or 5 days opening ONLY my EXOSUIT everytime I opened my inventory. And then decided I wanted a plasma launcher, started the build which gave me a quest/pin for it, and it's still opening my exosuit with it partly built in my multi tool. But if I COMPLETE the build, ending the quest/pin, then it opens my MULTITOOL everytime no matter what I do, pin complete other things, recharge things, delete my launcher, nothing. If I reload my save to before I built it, it's back to exosuit inventory.

I'm playing on normal, this time, and the plasma launcher doesn't need to be recharged it seems.. or that is buuugging. Either way I think what might be happening here is it wants me to craft the refuel stuff for the launcher or just recharge the launcher and I can't in normal mode. Just a thought

Anyway I won't be using a plasma launcher for now or ever since this is an old glitch most likely not getting fixed. And with all the other vehicle inventories and technologies in the game I'm probably screwed. I hope not 🙏

My last debrief was hilarious to read. [Discussion]

I love this game.

Every single log entry of this 5 hour expedition was either underwhelming or disastrous. From letting half of the bad guys escape, to getting scammed and swindled MULTIPLE times.

WHY WOULD YOU INVEST IN A HOLOGRAM PETTING ZOO?

They did get 6 confirmed kills though, and made sure to state that "No innocent lives were lost". However, based on their clear incompetence it is safe to assume they were murdered.

I wish I could scroll back up the list, it was so bad it was good, HG please.

Issues with the latest expedition [Question]

Hi all, Just wineries if anyone else is having issues with the new expedition when it comes to saving amd restarting the game.

I was playing it for a few hours last night and when it came time for bed I saved the game and turned off the system.

Went to play it and continue the expedition today amd when it loaded I got a message stating I had successfully completed all expedition challenges and and save file would convert to a normal file from that point......I've inly made it to the second set of challenges in the expedition though, far from completion!!

Anyone else experiencing this??

Exobiology posters and decals [Question]

Finished Exobiology expedition. Claimed everything at the QS merchant. Checked all rewards were claimed, in the game. However, none of the new decals or posters are showing in my build menus. I used a game save editor to check they had been added to "Products" and they were, but still not showing. Other rewards such as the robot dog pet, royal backpack etc., are all fine. Anyone else getting this?

Finding paradise planets and making money [Question]

Paradise planets:

I've spent 5 hours trying to find a paradise planet with minimal sentinels and it's driving me insane, anyone have any tactics to find one or am I unlucky.

Making money:

What is the best way to make money (fairly early game). I've heard of like processing chlorine or something but I don't really know how to do that. I want enough to buy an S class starship (fighter).

I saw SO many people having trouble with this I thought I'd post the location so folks can easily get to it.

The third rendezvous can be found in the Xandrov VIII system on the planet New Muleighle.

The creatures here give large eggs, but the Sentinels are aggressive so beware.

No Man's Sky unlimited Resources crafting list. [Information]

A friend of mine made a List how you can create a lot of Resources out of Carbon. You can multiply and create Carbon basically out of nothing. With a lot of crafting and refining you can get a lot of different resources, as an example Gold, Silber and Platinum. He was to tired to farm and look up how to get some Resources (in the Wiki) and just made this list. That way he never needs to look for a Planet with a certain Ressource if it's on this list.

Sentinel Quad Color different between saves. [Question]

Hello Fellow travelers,

Just finished the expedition and claimed my new Robo-doggo,

I noticed that on my expedition save the Quad is blue however when I claimed it on my main save it's orange. I tried changing the color in the egg sequencer but nothing...

Is this the same for everyone or is it a bug?

If it is intentional, I guess there's gonna be a blue sentinel egg black-market pretty soon. Apollo would approve.

XBox Mass terrain restore [Question]

NMS noob, I didn’t realize there was a terrain edit limit to bases and I had the bright idea to carve out 1/2 a mountain before I realized I couldn’t do any more. I’m moving my base but is there a way to mass restore all that terrain? I’ve looked but because I’m on GamePass I can’t locate my save file to be able to edit and most of the edit threads I’ve found have the original content deleted so I’m not sure how to go about it. Explorers Guild Missions STACK! Do them once and gain lots of standing easily. [Information]

I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about the explorers guild missions for expedition 5.

The easiest way to complete this is just to visit every Gek and Korvax system on your teleporter list from the space station teleporter and take the explorers guild missions at all the stations. Make sure you have several of the same type of mission in your log. Activate one of them and do the mission.

When you’re done, marvel at how the game counts it towards all the missions of that type you’ve activated.

Kill 15 creatures once, gain all your standing in one go.

Hope this helps people struggling with this milestone.

Returning after a long while. What do I do? [Question]

So I am returning to space after about a year and a half hiatus. Since I am playing on my 2nd acct. all the trophies are fresh and new. I remember on my past save I think I made it pretty far, but I had help from anon travelers who gifted me items to progress. Now since returning I feel kinda lost. I have seen all the updates and all that and that's dandy, but are we still looking for Ms. Artemis and searching for the red eyed cyclops cube (the atlas)? With all the new stuff I feel a lil overwhelmed. I am currently sitting in the anomaly trying to figure what to do next. I haven't made it far but any suggestions on how to progress would be great.

A trace of metal [Bug]

I joined the husband's game to help him on a mission A trace of metal. I was able to kill the sentinal but he was unable to locate the downed robot to get the brain so I grabbed it and gave it to him. But the game won't advance. He didn't have the embolizing component on his weapon and no conversation with the NPC on the anomaly. How can I fix his game? I tried having him hold the roller ball on the mouse, I have had him join my game so he is light years away from his mission to try to reset and nothing works. Recommendations? I tried searching online. At my wit's end.

I don't see my own bases?! How is that possible? [Question]

CONTEXT: I started a new player to do the just released expedition. I went through the process of get all 16 glyphs by jumping through those 10 systems. At the last one, I see a planet that I recognized as one I discovered and renamed (it even said I discovered the planet, a moon really). I also recalled that I had put down a base on that moon next to a portal. But it had the old planet name, and my base was not there. Yet I did see other people's bases on the planet.

So: Why did it show the moon's old name, rather than the one I had given it? Why didn't I see my base on it, even though I uploaded it? (I believe I had multiplayer turned on when I uploaded it, but I don't remember exactly) Why could I see other people's base on it?

Are these just bugs? Or am I doing something wrong?

Got stuck with no freighter in the center of the galaxy [Question]

I am relatively new to this game, but one problem that I have is that I found a portal that got me to almost the center of my galaxy, Euclid. I was about 700k ly far from the center and I got to 5k, and I can't get my freighter there. I dont know how. I checked upgrades, and they seem to have about 200ly range max, so that doesnt help me at all. Any help?

Expedition 5 [Question]

I need some help guys. When I first launched expedition 5 and realized we had a stridernowr as our initial pet o deleted him immediately ( I despise striders ) and figured I'd just pick up a cool pet along the way. Well at that point I didn't realize I need to gain 100% trust as a expedition requirement and now my pets are all 75%. It's the only part of the expedition I need to complete it.

So my question is if I start another expedition playtheough just to get the 100% trust would that complete the expedition ( guessing not ) and would anyone in the community have that initial pet @ 100% trust be willing to have it lay an egg and transfer the egg to me? I know over time my current pet will achieve 100% trust so if I have to wait so be it. Any other suggestions on how to get a/to 100% companion trust without waiting the days it'll take to get there? Appreciate any responses

Expedition 5 and planetary settlements [Bug]

This is buggier than usual. I started an Expedition save, got to the point where I was told to go help a settlement, went and talked to them, killed the sentinels, then when I went to talk to the next one, he was buried underground all but his head, and I couldn't interact with him at all. No biggie, I'll just go on. Except that about 10 seconds later the game crashed. And every time I started that save, I would have about 2-3 seconds before it crashed.

So, started a new Expedition save. Got to the same point, told to go save a settlement. Get there, there's a trading post, but no settlement. Got the sirens and lights, but no building and no people. Ok, fine, as long as I don't start getting crashes I'm ok with it. Go to leave the system and the map still shows the settlement icon, so I decide to go check it out. Get there and there's NPCs standing around, but no buildings. I talk to the first one, then get the sirens and lights, but nothing else. Everybody standing around, no sentinels, no buildings.

This is buggier than usual, even for NMS.

False memory? Ability to change which side something was snapping to. [Question]

I could swear I remember being able to do this. Like, if a corridor or something was trying to snap to the interior of a room where it was ineligible, there was some key I could press or command I could use to flip it to the other side of the same snap point. I distinctly remember it being very useful when building underground/water or on the freighter. I can't find it now though, and searching online has turned up nothing. I'm starting to wonder if it's just a false memory my brain conjured up. Brains do that sometimes.

I've been playing NMS for a while now (since the NEXT update), but i've never been interested on multiplayer, just not my cup of tea. Anyway there are some blueprints and components missing from my catalogue, such as Photonix Core, and after researching a little I saw it was a pre-order bonus exclusive on PS4, however..... if players can share blueprints and components multiplayer would be a way to "counter" the limitation on getting some tech.

So, after 6 years of development, there is still no way to choose which UI waypoints/icons you want to see or not? Seriously? [Question]

I decided to try this game again after many years away and started a new character in the animal-taming Expedition event that's going on. I couldn't see a ship icon, so I figured I started without a ship and I probably needed to be on foot for a while until I could find/buy one... only to half an hour later notice there was indeed a ship icon... now 1000 units away... which was lost in the absolute deluge of completely irrelevant waypoints showing bases and ships of random people who are not my friends and I don't give a duck about.

I notice in the options there is only an option to turn the ENTIRE UI on or off, I couldn't find any options for which icons I wanted to hide or not. Is that for real? If a game with over 6 years of development can't provide basic customization features such as being able to not have a cognitive overload of irrelevant icons, then perhaps deciding to play this again was a bad move.

Electrical buzzing / arcing sound coming from exocraft and ships (PS5) [Bug]

This was asked around 3 years ago however the sound was tied to the base computer archives quest, for me ive found it comes from all my exocraft and ships as if someone was constantly welding around them, unlike the glitch posted 3 years ago it doesnt go away when I jump star systems or teleport, has anyone else found this problem and found a fix?

PC low framerate bug? [Question]

I've been playing no mans sky on pc for some time now and I've been having an issue when moving in the game my frame rate dips extremely low then shoots back up to normal levels after lading in all the flora and stuff. I've tried lowering all my settings as low as possible but I still get the low frames so I tried overclocking my CPU (because I know this game can be CPU intensive) but that still hasn't solved the problem for me. I'm running the game on a 1070 and an i5-8600K CPU if anyone has any suggestions or has run into the same issue and found a solution I'd be extremely grateful, this is a masterpiece of modern gaming and I want to enjoy it so badly but this is the one thing preventing me

Haven't played since launcher, need help. [Question]

I've been drinking. I hate positnng these things but I've only played creative since launce. I bought it again l as st night and tried regular mode and I hate the grinding. Extractor logistics do not work from base to base over distances as the wiki claims it does. [Question]

On the no mans sky wiki it explains that mineral and gas extractors can be connected with pipes and stretched over 1050u to connect to your main base. Here is the quote.

" Industrial mining facilities can be linked back to your main base (as long as it is less than 1050u away from the hotspot). These will continually reload many of the game's main resources and gases, and often supply an excess that can be sold for a solid profit. "

This is simply not true, I have spent hours tweaking different variations of supply depots and pipes for an S class copper hotspot only 400u from my main base, the supply depot in my main base displays as empty and 0/0 capacity reached. The supply depots at the extractor sight are working as intended .

Any help would be appreciated , I tried to ask on the weekly questions thread a few days back and never got a response as it seemed the thread was unpinned .

I would rather not have to visit every single hotspot every day to collect , a localized depot would be helpful .

Taste of metal quest line [Question]

I ran into an issue. I was working on a taste of metal quest line and my settlement was attacked. I abandoned my settlement during a severe sentinel attack and founded a new settlement. Well now I have the quest still saying my settlement is under attack but when I go back to my settlement there is no attack and the sentinel awareness is at 0%. is it possible to reset or get rid of this so I can do the quest line?

Does the cobalt trade still work? [Question]

I read some posts from a few months ago about how you can go around selling, then buying back cobalt (and other materials), but following the same steps it doesn't seem to work as expected. I used about 15k cobalt last station, but lost about 1 mil in the process. Am I doing it wrong somehow, or does it just not work that way anymore?

How do I get to the 130th Galaxy Broomerrai? [Question]

I'm sort of newish to the game. I left for a bit but I have brain damage irl so whenever I return I have to relearn the game entirely.

I decided I want to move to this other galaxy when I'm done with the expedition but... I'm not sure how. Is there an easy way to hitchhike over joining someone else's game on Xbox that is there, and if so how do I go about finding someone there?

Do I have to jump? I'd rather not follow that main storyline again because I remember that being a bit long and tiring after awhile just to get to Eissentam.

Appreciate whatever info or suggestions anyone else can come up with? I've packed my towel, checked my guide and I'm ready to go become a Broomer in Broomerrai and enjoy my new galaxy.

How do you bypass or speedrun the early "do not play, do this grindy tutorial" in survival mode? [Question]

It seems they designed the whole difficulty around preventing us from getting inventory space. I laughed sarcastically at the building tech tree that is completely devoid of a storage container. They knew exactly what they were doing. This sort of frustrating game play is a strange choice, but ok. I know the game has other appeals, and I'd like to enjoy them.

How do I do that this weekend and in not next week when I have my 9hrs/day job?

I'll take any dishonorable advice from cheeses to exploits :)

Explorer’s Guild Standing for Expedition [Question]

For the love of god, is there a quick and easy way to get this done without warping to 16 Korvax systems and picking up one mission in each? I saved this for last because I’m stupid, and I’m curious if there’s a quicker way. I’m a pretty experienced player but any advice is welcome.

If the answer is no, then like wtf man? Why is the mission such a pain? Does the “16” part REALLY make it more immersive? I have to say this expedition has kinda been more trouble than I feel it’s worth.

FPS dips insanely hard the second I look at, or enter, my freighter? [Question]

Decided I'd hop back onto NMS after having played a ton a long while back (2019-2020ish.), get back in, and naturally, the game ran like crap. I did a ton of tweaking of settings and config stuff (the amd fidelity shit is set to performance, runnin at 80% res scale, set my processor threads in that one ini to 0 and 3, even changing processor scheduling, and everything in game is on low barring TAA to use superfidelity).

I can run the game insanely smoothly out in space, I'm talking the most buttery 60 possible. Landing on a planet isn't the best, but still runs okay for how much grass there is.

The problem however is my freighter. I call it in, and instantly the fps dips from 60 to 20 any time I'm looking at its general direction. I fly towards it, to go get into it, it grinds to a god damn crawl. Like, literally 3 fps. The game running in hyper slow mo, literally an unplayable framerate. I labor through watching the full 30 second landing sequence that took 3 seconds back in the day, land in the freighter, get out, and then the fps is back up to at least 30, depending on where I look in the landing bay, but often more like 10-15.

Is there some obscure setting I missed? Has the game just somehow gotten this unoptimized since I've been gone? I used to run this game on this rig but with at least 30 at all times, usually 60, with dips to 20 in higher impact areas (the online hub, particularly grassy areas on planets). I'm pretty sure I used to have some settings turned up even.

Crashing During Weekend Event (2/27/2022) (PS4) [Bug]

The event is requiring me to get 5 Hadal Cores on an ocean planet. I tried the first 4 times to collect them, but my game will crash. I finally turned off multiplayer in my network settings. I put save beacons down on an island after nabbing one, save, and then go to look for more. I crashed after getting all 5. I loaded back up and have 4 Hadar Cores. I will update to let you know if it counts and will let me complete the event. This will be my 5th try. Wish me luck!

Does anyone dislike expeditions? [Discussion]

It's just that I find this expedition really slow and boring compared to the previous ones, but I feel I have to do it or I will miss out on some really cool rewards.

I don't think expeditions or their rewards should be time-limited. The rest of no man's sky is about the freedom to do anything you want, but with expeditions...

I mean I want a robo dog, but I don't want to milk every cow in the galaxy within the next dix weeks for fear of missing out.

This is just my personal opinion.

Stuck - Questions about the new expedition [Question]

Hi,

this is my first expedition.

I started in an abandoned system. My questions are:

  1. I got hyperpropulsion installed but I would need antimatter and antimatter housing. I do not have the recipe.

  • I can't called the Anomaly for some reason so can't buy recipes

  • I can't install the Atlas Pass I since I also need that recipe (I have the ingredients but states, recipe unknown)

Thanks to all the bases around, if I had the Atlas Pass I could get all the antimatter and Indium I need.

Any idea what could I do?

Building question. [Question]

Was copying a build on YouTube and the guy used a technique to replace stone steps with stone flooring by using wires. Copied it exactly and it worked to a degree that the stone floor was tiled on the line of the wire. However. They’re sometimes, and I mean often, tilted over. I can’t rotate them to get the square and I dunno what I’m doing wrong. Basically. I’m in xbox and he said. Small wall. Don’t drop. Line up with green dot. Switch to wire. Send wire down to floor level. Small wall where u want ramp to finish. Again don’t drop. Switch to wire. Connect to first wire origin point. Delete first wire. Stone floor. Switch to wire. Line up with green dot of wire. RT in wire mode they Y to exit. Stone floor is tilted on the line of the wire but also tilted over against the floor pieces I want to snap to. Help!

I see some bases have teleporters set up to reset the cluster. But if I'm refining while doing that the refiners reset and the moulds that were inside get deleted. Was that fixed? I remember that working for a time before.

Transferring ships from Permadeath to Normal Save. [Question]

Hey guys, after the game last week killing me mid warp in permadeath mode I decided to try again. Long story short, 15 hours this weekend I got my achievement but I can't say goodbye to that old b class ship that saved me so many times during storms and attacks. Sean PLEASE Make All Interactables Instanced Like In Expeditions! [Discussion]

So I just started expeditions today with my partner, and to my absolute surprised I found nanite clusters in facilities and clusters of harvestable plants like sodium were not disappearing for her when I interacted with them, which is not how it works in our regular adventure world.

Is this something new they added? The amount of frustration it has led to because either I or she would interact with something, only for it to be uninteractable by the other, is too damn high!

Either way, loving expeditions and the fact that things seem to be instanced based per player, and I how this extends to outside the starting planet, and hopefully to other game modes as well!

Ok so this time I want to make sure I do it right. The past couple times I saved a freighter from pirates I’m not sure I even went to the right place, let alone find the captain. Heavy stuttering [Question]

My game stutters when walking through the world, it seems like it struggles a lot loading the world.. I tried tweaking a bit but nothing really worked.

I have an Intel i5 9600kf and and a GTX 1660 so specs shouldnt be a problem... Is it normal? It seems kinda unplayable.

I Haven't played since the Atlas Rises update. Should I start over, or just pick up where I left off? [Question]

Hey everyone, it's my first time posting. Like the title says, I haven't played the game since v1.3. My friend recently got a PS5 and was asking me for game recommendations, and I suggested this one.

But then while talking about it, it made me think about how long it's been since I played it. So I went to look at the wiki and saw that it was already up to v3.82.

I know there's been a lot of content added, which makes me think that it'd be a daunting task to try to pick it up from where I left it. I currently have a 38 slot fighter, but I barely touched the freighter and base functions. I don't really remember much after that.

I'm wondering if starting over would be better to give me a chance to relearn everything and maybe start fresh with what I'm sure would be new mechanics. Any advice would be great, thanks in advance.

Trace of Metal question [Question]

My question/problem is this, I am stuck in a loop in the Trace of Metal storyline. I have gotten my mech man, all the attachments etc, however, I cannot advance to the Hive mind portion.

I have included a screenshot showing where I am stuck. I have tried to choose another quest/story/mission, to no avail. If I choose something different, I do advance in that, however no progress is shown on screen.

How do I use the portal now and where do I get the glyphs? [Question]

I was playing this game a long time back when there was a galactic federation day(or something like that) and then I out the game down and have only picked it back up.

I had at the time completed the story and had all the glyphs and was using the portal but since I've come back to the game I haven't got a clue what's going on.

I don't appear to have any glyphs anymore and I've got no idea what I'm doing to get started again. Will I have to reset and start all over?

An in-game lore Codex for a future update? [Suggestion]

Between the various alien ruins, the Sentinel Towers, the Boundary Errors, the Atlas terminals, and what lies behind AtlasPass lv3 doors, there's a lot of interesting lore to be found in No Man's Sky that one may only have one in-game chance to review. Sure there's the various wiki articles compiling them all for these players, but why not add an in-game log that keeps track of these entries for you as you encounter them? Bonus points if it can also record some lore from sources in alien languages, so even if you don't fully understand what you read the first time, you can re-read it in the Codex after you've learne some more words in that language to hopefully understand it better.

Base building is broken. [Bug]

I posted something like this before. I just don’t understand the game that has such a focus around base building yet it’s such a broken system, last time I was complaining about the fact that the game can’t understand whether or not you are in the base if you have more than a two high wall or a 5x5 box. However, getting over that and having to find ways around it now the game decides it likes to reset the colour palette I’ve put on my buildings. I don’t understand a game that puts base building almost at the centre and yet there is no polish on it what so ever, especially after introducing a bunch of new parts and completely removing the old parts for anyone new coming in as I know it. I don’t understand releasing a ton of new parts and them not being polished, now resetting colours as well.

Idea: Bounty Hunter's Guild [Suggestion]

You start off with a series of quest from the guild that will build your Bounty Hunting device that is needed to track down and eliminate your target.

Think maybe 10 quest for you to get all the parts of the device to be assembled.

Then you should force you to go to the 4 different galaxy types (Normal, Empty, Harsh and Lush) so you can calibrate the device.

When you are tracking down the target, it could be a in space, on a planet, in a settlement, land on a ship on a NPC fleet and talk to them or in a derelict.

You may need to spend time and gather information to see where where the target went to. This might be talking to NPC's and using target mode in Survey Device to think of a few.

The higher end targets might be able to hack and control sentinels to attack you on land or in space.

The target might leave the galaxy and you need to go there and start gathering and talking to NPC's.

​

The leaving the galaxy is to encourage people to explore beyond the starting galaxy.

​

When you get to your target, be ready to fight. The fight could be in ships on even on a derelict, on a planet or in a settlement.

In conclusion I think this would be fun

I just found the perfect planet for my settlement after a lot of searching, but every time I try to activate my settlement map I bought at the space station it either disappears completely and nothing happens, or it says there is locational interference. Should I just keep trying?

The 100% trust thing in the expedition is really damn annoying. [Discussion]

I got rid of my ugly strider in the expedition, not knowing it had 95% trust. Now I'm crawling up the trust meter and currently at 70%. What an absolutely idiotic idea for an expedition goal.I also tried to have my companion have an egg, hatch the egg, then summon the mother. Mother still at 70%.

So now I either have to play five minutes every day for like two weeks, or hope someone would start the expedition just to trade me the egg they get. Ugh.

Nailing down Base Sharing in Feb 2022 [Question]

Apologies first. I posted something about this yesterday, and I am restarting the discussion, so I apologize for starting a new post about a similar topic. But I wanted to encapsulate what I think is to be true.

1) Long Version with Context (skip if you like):

Let me begin by describing my first experience with another person's base. Someone on here, who is quite nice btw, saw one of my posts and shared his base location with me so I could farm his runaway mould for nanites. Everything was so simple. I found his base immediately and easily. After I realized I was not actually consuming his mould when I farmed it, I felt better. I could repeat the process by flying away about 1K units and then returning. Even accidental damage to his base was fixed the next time I returned automagically. The mould would respawn and I could rinse and repeat. And since I was in my own instance, with multiplayer off, I was not impacting him and his experience at all. Brilliant!!

So I wanted to do something similar for others. I have since made a gold farm that generates about 2K gold per hour and can store upwards of 17K. But I wanted to be sure others could find it, and so I tried to see other bases I had created with my normal save from my new expedition save, and that was when I discovered I could not find/see them.

2) Short Version (what I believe to be true): A player cannot see their own bases from another playthrough, regardless of mode (e.g., two different normal mode saves). This is by design (I guess to stop sharing across playthroughs). You can only upload one base per planet Friends can only edit my base if we're playing together at the same time. If I am in a group, and we visit one of my bases, and I go offline, my base remains but becomes non-editable by that friend (if I had given them permissions say as a friend). If I am offline, and someone who visited my base...

Settlements [Question]

I only get marketplaces and ship landings for construction.. I have 5 marketplaces and every time they bring an idea it’s marketplace or nothing. I’ve denied it literally 10 times in a row. My production 980k and my population is 56… the wiki shows so many building opportunities but I don’t get any of them. A little help pls [Bug]

So I was doing the main quest Ghosts in the Machine, but at some point I traveled to another system for a side quest and then, by mistake, changed over to the main one spawning the abandoned building on a volcanic planet JUST INSIDE a volcano, basically making it impossible for me to reach it by any means.

Anyone knows of a way to reset the mission or something? I tried to travel to another system far away, but as of now I'm 700 LY or so from that quest location and it still says "mission objetive on another system".

I'm doing the new expedition but whenever I summon my companion go into photo mode and take a picture it doesn't count towards my mission. Help! I've taken like 15 different shots with me posing with my animal, riding on its back, letting it wander around, etc.

The AI mech [Question]

I am having trouble with the new mission. I have not received any blueprints for the AI mech. I have several copies of the Hard frame Engine, but none for the arms, legs, and body. What am I missing here? I think I missed getting the drone shell, but can't remember.

Expedition 5 wall art not showing up. [Bug]

Hello travelers,

I have just finished expedition 5, and had a blast with it. Only issue is that when I redeemed all items onto my main save, the wall art items will not show up. (Decals/posters) Everything else is there including the jetpack, quad drone, and banner, just not the building parts. I’ve redeemed them on the anomaly, they’re just not in the build menu. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, has anyone discovered a fix?

Why do I always get a bad spawn? [Question]

My first world was a lava planet or something like that I haven’t played on it in about a year. My second one was the same. My third one was radioactive. I started this one the other day after not playing for about a year. Me and my friend literally can’t survive since there’s barely any oxygen plants so our life systems just fail. Is it intentionally meant to be like this at the start or am I just really unlucky?

Expadition almost ended early because of time skip? [Question]

I was doing the mission where you earn complete trust from a companion. And I was using time skips to speed up the process. I set my system two days ahead and when I loaded the save I got a message saying the expaditions was over. I closed the application and I reset the date and the message is now gone. Any explanations? Am I fine or?

Edit: I may have accidentally changed the month instead of the day. I'm not sure. I just want to make sure I'm fine and I didn't make a major mistake.

Managed to lose my ship while checking out the game, lolz. Wandered out of scan range. Brings a question to mind. [Question]

No big deal, I was just learning the game and checking things out. I do have a question though. If I want to more explore my starting planet more fully, or any for that reason, do I have to walk everywhere or can I fly my ship a few miles then hop out and explore the area, rinse and repeat? Going on foot seems risky, given how easily I got lost and couldn't find the ship again.

My buddy and I are DYING for the food vector from the older expedition and the eggs for the weird creatures. We weren’t able to do those and not gonna lie. Prettttryyyyy jealous of that ship. Being Forced To Help Freighters [Bug]

When a freighter needs helps from pirates (which happens way too often at least for me) you are prompted to communicate with the captain and given a choice to help, declining does nothing. And when your involved in the fight your radar will only show the freighter and the pirates and your mission bar will be stuck on "Save the freighter from pirates" which makes it really annoying to do explorer guilds missions (Expedition 5 moment) where you have to scan planets to find one the meets the Requirments when you cant see the planets on your radar (planets hiding behind planets). or if a mission wants you to go to a specific planet good luck finding it (if your in a unexplored system) because the mission bar is stuck, and (at least of the missions I'm doing) they dont show in the hub menu. I just wish I could truly decline to help, Solve your own problems!

After all this time, I finally bought NMS... [Discussion]

Way back when this game was first announced, I was in love with the premise of the game. Then it came out and we all know that shitshow story. But all this time later, everyone just heaps praise on the game and so I finally pulled the trigger.

My Xbox series X and my PS5 have been collecting dust for quite some time since I got into VR on Quest, and I didn't think anything would get me back into flat screen gaming.. But here I am! I have no damn clue what I am doing, but I started at about 10 pm last night and before I knew it, it was almost 3am. What the hell?!?!

My plan is to just try to figure it out all on my own, maybe that's half the fun of it. So I just joined this sub and may pop in from time to time with questions.. But don't worry, I'll use the search bar first!

Starship costing something rather then being free? [Question]

I just started a save and am 20 hours in. I herd that there was a way to get a free starship but so I warped the amount of times needed and got the starship attack but when I went to the captain it has me paying for the ship rather then getting it for free. My friend on the same server got one for free and I am wondering what is going on with this?

Exosuit/player textures stop loading? (Warp jumps) [Question]

Do anyone else's exosuit textures go muddy after a few warp jumps? I have this and can only fix with reload.

Couple notes:

I do use FineLOD mod but I don't know that that would cause that to happen.

I was using ultra tesselation for awhile, turned it off today and 10 warp jumps and planet checks later I didn't see a player textures issue. I have heard tesselation can cause issues with texture load.

Warps are taking forever after the Sentinel update. [Bug]

I don't know if it is just me but warping to another system takes upwards of 20 minutes now and it's really annoying. I'm playing on an Xbox One S and I know the warps weren't this slow before the update. It happens every time I try to warp, use a teleporter, or go through a black hole so I don't think it's just a 1-time bug. Anyone know anything about this or if they chanced the warping system at all?

Horror [Question]

I have swam and swam. Scanned all over. And I cannot for the life of me find the abyssal horror to get trapped by for the expedition. Does anyone has a planet they would share. I don’t have glyphs yet. But if it’s in or close to any of the rendezvous systems I should be able to find it. Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

Fleet Command Room deleted but game still thinks it’s there [Bug]

Ok so I just came back to the game after a bit of a break and I sent out a expedition on my freighter but when I went to where my command room was it’s now gone and now that expedition I sent out is stuck and I’m not sure how to fix it. I placed a new command room but it counts it as my 2ed one even though I don’t have any other command room’s on my ship and I sent out a other expedition and it works fine but the first one is stuck debriefing even though my 1st command room is gone so I have no way to debrief it. I’ve even bought a new freighter and to see if that would help it didn’t unfortunately so my question is am I just missing something or is a glitch and should I report it?

Is the void egg quest still bugged? [Question]

I've gotten through most of the quest no problem, but I just had another chat with the living ship after hyperadrive, and when the mission updated, there's no marker for what planet to go to next. I tried warping along the path it has but it just keeps going. Even teleported to the other side of the galaxy, tried resetting the mission but it won't let me do that and just has an endless path. I've seen other people asking about this from like a year or two ago, but didn't see anything more recent except someone saying it was patched. Am I missing something then? It should have a marker to the next planet the egg needs me to land on, right?

Standing Planter Still Worth it? [Question]

I have a huge Oxygen Farm that uses the Mineral Extractor so I definitely do not need to worry about that as I can teleport there, grab oxygen then refine large amounts of it into carbon so my question is,

Is the standing planter even worth wasting mats on or worrying about?
