So I just started the Expedition and did phase one. What rewards are the ones that can be accessed via all saves? I'm assuming they are the ones you get when it's all finished but I just want to check.

It's been fun starting again. Now that I know how to make money and use my time better.

How can i do expedition 2 and 3? [Question]

I rushed through the first one in a single day because i thought i could do the others, and im keeping the save to transfer the items to my other one. I tried to start a new expedition but its only on expedition 1 and i cant find any way to change it to 2 or 3. Do i only have 1 chance to redo a single expedition?

About to give up on NMS, can't get past the bugs. Any recommendations? [Question]

So I've bin trying to sort out bugs in NMS VR that I just can't, and honestly at this point I'm just about to give up entirely on playing more. Which is a shame tbh as the game is awesome. So if anyone has any fixes or recommendations id appreciate it. For starters my Trade Route lines in space keep getting a weird black line over top of it that appears/dissapears as i turn my head, i even installed a mod to remove them entirely, and the black lines still appear where they once were. Its very distracting and ugly looking to see these weird black lines appear over where they were. I also get constant audio crackling. sounds terrible, when using portable refiner as i move the audio cuts in and out. Cant get that to fix either. So a visual and audio bug. I reinstalled, restarted, cleared my shader cache, installed a mod to remove trade routes in the sky, updated drivers, nothing is working. Plus recently I died to a quad that was shooting me through terrain while i was trapped underground. AND that rain sound bug is STILL here what 2 years later now? If anyone has any recommendations or knows how to fix the 2 main bugs I seem to be having Id greatly appreciate it. If not Im gonna just have to move on again and play something new, which i really dont want to do.

Should I try to play again? [Question]

Long story short. Last time I tried to play this game it literally broke my pc. Every single driver became corrupted and I had to even do a full format on all of my hard drives I had at the time. This was about a year ago and it's literally never happened to me on any other game other than this one. At first it just wouldn't load the game, it would get infinitely stuck on the loading screen where you are floating through the galaxy. Then eventually it started to corrupt pc drivers and files causing me a lot of lost games and files that are no longer recoverable. Anyway. I really like the look of this game and especially wanna play it in vr. I wonder if it would just do it again or not. When it happened to me it was supposed to have been fixed and I was told it shouldn't have happened, but, it did

Just a PSA to both new players, and to some who may not know already. You can buy two inventory slots per system. [Information]

Basically, starting off can be a bit painful due to low inventory space. And hearing your onboard computer constantly reminding you that there are 'No free slots in suit inventory' tends to aggravate somewhat. So to help, make sure to get both inventory slots in every system you visit.

Slot 1: You can buy this from the vendor in the space station. It's a blue backpack hologram to your right once you exit your ship.

Slot 2: Call in the anomaly and head to the back where the six vending stations are (where you spend salvage data to gain new blueprints). There is another hologram here in the left corner as you walk in.

These will be available in every new system you visit, and the price increases gradually. It's a great way to stop your onboard computer from bothering you every five minutes.

Pc - random screen freezes that last 10-30 seconds [Bug]

I installed the game on my Pc through Xbox game pass and the game has these really long freezes that aeent just happening during gameplay. They start from the very first loading screen ( when the wheel is spinning ) and are persistant as long as I keep playing. It's like the game simply stops for a about half a minute whnever it feels like it and then randomly continues before it freezes again. The freezes are also pretty frequent happening every 2 minutes or so. Here's everything I tried: reinstalling the game, updating graphics drivers, completely reinstalling graphics drivers with DDU, adjusting those setting in that notepad ( setting something to 0), lowering graphics, enabling vsync. Needless to say, nothing helped. Outside those screen freezes, the game seems to be running fine and smooth. Im running an AMD RTX 5700 XT 8 gb, ryzen 5 3600x, 16gb ram, x570 mobo. Any ideay how to fix this?

Expedition multi-tool upgrades and exchange [Question]

I know normally you can’t transfer multi-tool upgrades between multi-tools, but this is my first time playing expeditions, and I mistakenly put some milestone reward upgrades on a C class.

If I find a better multi-tool, am I locked out from being able to have the upgrades on the new multi-tool?

Just about to try and get the captain ship. Just want to know does any freighter count or does it have to be Capital type? I’m hoping after 5 jumps I still get the mission to save a freighter. And can I farm this until I get a capital?

Ideas for NMS [Discussion]

just as the title says, this is basically a giant shitpost of a list of stuff i'd like to see added to No Man's Sky in a list, then going into detail about each feature later on. also feel free to add your ideas in the comments, maybe we'll get Sean's attention lol. either way, feel free to ignore this post. freighter crashing triggered events being able to walk around your freighter while in warp being able to control freighter gun turrets via command rooms you can build being able to customize and re-color all items in the game (multi-tool & starship to name 2) having dynamic conflict level effects

expanding on number 1: it would be really cool if we could have a small chance to see a freighter crash triggered event while pulsing with the pulse drive, for example, you're in a yellow, normal star system, and see the freighter warp in, and the engines explode out of the back and it start to get sucked in to the nearest planet's gravity field, and possibly take you with it (would do extreme damage on impact if you don't dodge it, possibly killing you if your ship upgrades aren't good), or, if you're in a red star system, seeing it warp in and then (because the cadmium drive "prevents rapid disassembly") see it fall apart section by section, see cargo pods fly off (which will float in space for you to loot/blow up), and seeing the parts scatter themselves across the system. and then see it do reality glitches like the hull turning inside out, or the ship changing colors, or phasing in and out of existence when trying to reach green star systems. then maybe, for the temporal anomalies in blue star systems, have it warp in, then another copy of it warps in behind it, and they crash together, and then a singularity/black hole forms where they are, and they get ripped to shreds and sucked in (this would also allow players to randomly encounter black holes). it would really give us something to fear when...

First Traveller mission; where red systems aren’t red? [Question]

So, I’m stuck in the first traveller mission. I’m supposed to go to a Red System with my shiny Cadmium drive but when I go to one the objective is still go to one!

The red quest icon is back in a yellow system where I started?

I’m flying about wasting warp cells trying to progress this stupid quest 😩

Can anyone help me out with how to get past this?

Hello!

Do my freighter upgrades transfer when I buy a new freighter? Never replaced my freighter despite having it for years so I’m wondering if my warp upgrades and stuff will transfer to a new one, it says “Compare and transfer freighter inventory” so I’d guess it would.

Can you use an old expedition save to play the current expeditions? [Question]

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to play the current expedition with an old expedition save. (from the original dates). I couldn't finish Expedition 3 in time and left it halfway through, so I was wondering if I could use that same save for when it becomes available again instead of starting a new one.

I know you can convert the save into a normal save file, but I never did, it still says it's an expedition save file.

Expeditions PSA: The extended-duration frigate mission bug is still very much alive and well. Do your frigate missions as soon as you can. [Information]

Finishing up the third frigate mission, I see my trade frigate parked by the freighter so I know it's done, go into the command room and the icon's blue, not green. Check the status, and this 59-minute-duration mission has suddenly become 47 hours long.

It would suck very much for anyone who waited until the last day to do these missions only to find out they literally cannot complete the expedition in time due to this bug.

Send 'em out fast and first and cross your fingers.

Expedition 1 - For the "Famous Explorer" Explorer Guild - Do we have to do a mission for the faction and then one one the Explorer guild? Making this 32 total missions in order to get the achievement??

Expedition: take a photo missions bugged [Question]

i am approaching the end of the expedition and have to get the explorer milestone out of the way. scanning minerals and flora works, but taking photos doesn’t.

i receive a confirmation that i am on the right target planet, but then i can take as many photos as i want. they won’t complete the task.

Friends bases only showing when they are logged on [Question]

My brother and I have Gravitino Ball farms near each other and freely take from each other when the other is not actively playing. Since the last update, our bases only show up if we are both playing. Anyone else experience this? I don't see any new settings that would have to do with base availability.

NMS Seeds for Current Items [Question]

Anyone using a particular site for NMS seeds?

I noticed that nmseeds.club is missing stuff like the USS Enterprise looking freighter (unless I'm blind); and the other site (nomansseeds) doesn't appear to give the right item when I insert the home / model seed.

It has been awhile since I've played so maybe I'm missing something.

Naming game saves [Suggestion]

Now that we have all these expeditions I think it would be really helpful if hello games let us name our saved games, I’m starting to forget which is which expedition and I just think it would be a really helpful way to organize them especially for the sake of going back and looking at what I discovered in old expeditions I would know which one it was without sorting through them

some multitool statistics [Information]

I've been playing my current save for over 100 hours, and I've warped 291 times (all in Euclid - I'm making my way to the center just by warping, without using portals or black holes).

I've also been checking every space station cabinet and many planets for an alien rifle. In my previous playthroughs I've always managed to find one or two, but not in this one.

A few days ago I decided I would keep a count of what types of MTs I found in the cabinets - mostly space station cabinets but sometimes I would visit each planet in the system and check the SS cabinet for the MT type. Here's what I found in 100 MT cabinets, all in T3 systems:

42 pistols

41 rifles, and 15 mid-rifles

2 experimental pistols

0 experimental rifles

0 alien pistols

0 alien rifles, 0 alien mid-rifles

Now, I had checked several hundred cabinets before I started counting, and I'd found a few, maybe three experimental rifles, two alien pistols and an alien mid-rifle. But no alien rifles.

So my sample set is not super large, but it seems to indicate that alien and experimental MTs are really very rare. So rare that my sample set is too small to give any sensible estimate of their frequency.

This game is perfect now, but I desperately want one thing [Suggestion]

Multi crewed or medium sized ships. Like merchant ships or corvettes (think of like the Tentative IV from Star Wars). I think they would be the best thing they could add to the game now, you could make your own spaceport on the planet and land those, you could use them like a mobile base of operations or a place to park your Exocraft.

Finding a settlement on an older save [Question]

I just started playing on an older save again (about a year and a half old), and I'm trying to find a settlement. The quest didn't trigger on its own, (it's like the update didn't apply to that save or something) so I bought a settlement map from the cartographer on a space station and went to my planet to use it, hoping to find a settlement on my planet. I must have tried about 15 times, and it keeps finding settlements on a toxic nuclear planet in the same system and not my planet. I went to another system where I found a bountiful planet and tried there, but it also found a settlement on a toxic planet in that system. It's like the map I bought is cursed or something.

Is there another way to find a settlement on my planet? Can I use a beacon or something?

Can't collect expedition reward... Help? [Question]

So I missed Pioneers the first time round. When it got rebooted I jumped straight on and smashed the expedition, got to the end and when I go to claim my golden ship, it says 'inventory full' and won't let me collect it.

Obviously I checked my inventory wasn't full, my freighter had no other ships, I just don't get it?

Anyone know a way around this so I can claim my ship please?

On every system I look the first 4 missions are for the systems race, and the 4th is a high level guild.

Efficiently doing expedition 1 guide [Information]

Hey guys, like many of you I missed expedition 1 and want to complete it now that it’s here again. Only problem is that there is only 2 weeks to complete it, and I don’t have a lot of free time. So I started searching for a youtube guide on how to complete it fast. I made a text guide for myself to follow during playing, and thought well maybe it’ll help you guys as well. So here it is. I haven’t done it yet myself, so I don’t have any personal tips. Feel free to correct something if it’s wrong or give tips yourself

Credits to youtuber Xaine’s world on whose video I based my written guide.

Passive:

Always claim the rewards from individual steps of the expedition. These will help you a lot on the way.

Look for other players bases. These tend to help you a lot. Look at the name of the base and determine if the base is helpful for you. This can include unit farms, nanite farms and grown crops for example.

In every system you warp to, go to the space station located there.

Check if you can buy a hyperdrive upgrade.

Collect every navigation data cube.

Grab easy missions from the mission giver which you can complete while progressing in the expedition. Also try to complete as many explorer missions as you can. This is also a milestone. If you can’t buy explorer missions, raise your standing to rank 2 in that space station. You can do this by talking to aliens on the station. Request dialect help, choose a symbol that fits the race. This will sometimes increase your standing.

If you are in a vykeen system, look for grab nanites in the back rooms on each side of the station.

Activate the monoliths that teach you words if you see one nearby.

Keep an eye on your freighter missions, and send them back as soon as possible.

Kill as much sentinels as you can in between doing milestones.

Walking bug? [Bug]

So I just bought the game and don’t know if this was a normal feature or not but just holding w and walking straight cause my character to like jitter as he walks. Like running forward suddenly turns right a hair then sharp left then straight and so on randomly. It also causes my camera to have minor shake trying to stay centered on him. Ultimately this caused me to refund the game because I could not find anywhere on how to fix this or if it was normal. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know because I would love to play this game.

Pioneers Expedition: Plants in hydroponics tray on capital ship seem to grow only when I'm looking at them. [Question]

I know it may sound weird. I might be missing something, but I am new to farming in NMS.

I am trying to get the milestone of harvesting 20 plants. I platned star bulbs in hydroponics trays on my capital vessel. They have power (well, the light at the bottom of each is green). When I looked at them last night, it said they were harvestable in about 4 hours. I played for a good 2-3 hours after that. When I looked this morning, it said that it still had 3 hours, 57 minutes, and 14 seconds...when I look. the timer is counting down, but I've played long enough in game time that they should be closer to done than that.

Overseer's Mordite quest [Discussion]

"Have you ever wondered what happens after death, between expiration and rebirth? Meditate upon annihilation. Harvest Mordite from the dead. It's the only way to escape."

Overseer requires me to kill animals for a multi tool upgrade. 1 hour later, I return with a stack of Mordite from another planet.

"I can see the change in you, friend. You have completed your task, and I have seen the world as you seen it. Here, take these schematics. May the things you build always remind you of those you killed to construct them." Overseer gives me the recipe for Blaze Javelin, a recipe I already know, while giving me the 👉🙂👉

Little did they know, I spent the last hour making a bunch of dinosaurs shit hard near my refiner on another planet so I can harvest and process said shit into what this weirdo Gek needs.

Starting new. [Question]

So I have had the game on ps4 for quite a while now and wanted to get it on pc as well because I play it on there more. I know you can't transfer save files or progress but I was curious if anybody had advice for progressing as fast as you can. With the help of an advanced account as I do. Selling ships: Problem [Question]

Today I tried selling/scraping one of my ships for the first time and encountered a problem, which I don‘t know how to fix. It always says that my inventory is full, although it clearly isn't (8 free spaces in my exo-inventory). At first it said I needed at least 7 free spaces. Then, when I moved some stuff to other inventories such as my freighter’s to get these 7 unused spaces, it started telling me that my inventory is full without any „you need x free spaces…“-message. Any idea on how I can fix this or what I'm doing wrong?

The Purge (I need help!) [Question]

So, I collected all the glyphs and located the leyline for the Portal BUT after acquiring them and the leyline i went off to finish the Atlas Path.

I'm aware that I need to journey towards the Galactic Center, but I want to ask if this is the way to go? Do I need to keep warping until the mission is updated again?

For clarification, I've warped to many different star systems to try to hit a reset point on the mission but no dice on that. Simply won't allow a restart. I don't mind if I have to warp another 16 times, I just need peace of mind lol.

Will downloading PS4 data/saves onto my PS5 delete all the data/saves I have created on PS5? [Question]

This may sound stupid, but I have been playing No Man’s sky on my PS5 on and off over a couple months.

I previously had a save on the PS4 where I had finished the game and had 90 hours of Data.

When I got my PS5 I forgot to transfer the Data and just decided to play without it for now.

Today I decided was the day I would finally get my old saves, but then a pop up appeared saying if I download the PS4 Data it would permanently delete my current save data.

Will I lose all my PS5 data including the expedition I’ve made good progress on?

If so is there a way around losing my progress/ps5 data?

Base extension problems? How do I fix? [Question]

I have a new Sulphurine farm. Naturally the cloud of Sulphurine and the electromagnetic hotspot were far apart, across a steep mountain, and I had to construct a few buildings with teleporters and batteries inside to chain power and extend the area I could build in to encompass it all.

Everything was great until I left the planet and came back. Now I can't build on large portions of the base, and the wire hider has stopped working. Is there a way to fix this?

Can't find Explorer Guild missions in Expedition 1 [Question]

I have the 5 from the reward and 1 from a level 1 Explorer mission I did early in the expedition but now I'm done everything but going through a black hole but can hardly find any explorer guild missions and the ones I do find are to high rank, even a level 5 mission when I have rank 6 doesn't let me play it. Stuck on early co-op progression - buried technology [Bug]

My friend and I just started for the first time and playing together. About 2 hours in we just built a small base but now I’m stuck on progressing the missions. I’ve found several “buried technology” modules already but the objective isn’t completing for me. He was able to build and power the teleporter, and I was able to do it too. But my mission still says to extract salvaged data from buried technology. Help!

My grave isn’t showing up! [Question]

Hello I let my friend try no man’s sky out on pc and so he got onto my account and started playing it and then he died with all of my good stuff and then I was like that’s ok he can just go back and get the grave and then he died again walking to the grave and then he stopped playing so I got on to get the grave with all the good stuff but the only one I can find is the second spot he died instead of the first one. I don’t know what to do because before he got off both graves were showing but now only it is only the second grave. Last save was two months ago. Any help would be very appreciated!

Guys my power cables don’t work [Question]

I’m trying to build an activated indium farm and I’ve set up an electromagnetic power spot and have connected the power cables from the generators to the mineral extractors, the power cable is blue, but won’t power the machine. I’m a bit worried that outright eradicating any freighter I see and having low standing somehow makes explorer missions pop less by making the other races pop more.

VR Graphics [Question]

I’m well aware that No Man’s Sky VR has a lot of issues, but what baffles me is this video. I’ve not had the best experience with No Man’s Sky VR, I get so much stuttering and lagging it’s very hard to play; but I stumbled across this video of a guy playing No Man’s Sky VR with an RTX 2060 (the same graphics card I have) very smoothly.

New player, question on the seemingly overwhelming generosity of the 2-week Expedition, and whether I'm missing something [Question]

So, basically, before starting this Expedition I only played for about 8 hours on my normal save. In that save I still have the starting ship, a bad multitool, and not a lot of nanites.

Meanwhile, in the same amount of time in the expedition, I already have an S-class ship, S-class multitool, a whole lot of S upgrades and money.

Is there a reason to continue playing the old save, or should I just wait 10 days and make the expedition my main? Any reason not to, except for the challenge?

The sheer number of broken Explorers Guild missions is mindboggling [Bug]

There are three of us working our way through this Expedition right now and all of us are hitting the same issues with buggy or straight up broken Explorers Guild missions. In particular, the 'Take a picture' and 'scan minerals on a specific planet' missions are wildly inconsistent. The text says to consult the galaxy map, but out of the 8 of those that I've picked up that had that in the mission text, only one has had an icon on a system. It's worth calling out that said mission was broken when the planet was reached. Flying to the indicator did nothing, and scanning minerals didn't count towards the mission. We've all seen the same things with the 'take a picture' missions. Only once has one of us seen an indicator of which system to go to, and once there the indicator failed to show up in the actual system for which planet to go to. Every planet was visited, and none of them moved the mission along. We've logged on/off. Jumped to different systems. Same result. FWIW I've avoided missions in non-Expedition play because of this very thing, so I don't think it's Expedition specific.

Anyhow, this part of the Expedition is sucking the fun out of the game because we have spent 4+ hours playing RNG mission roulette and sifting through (and eventually dropping) broken missions trying to get to standing 16. I absolutely would not mind this step if the missions actually worked, but we are literally seeing a success rate of about 1 in 5 at this point, and most of the time spent on this step has been dealing with broken missions instead of actually playing the game as intended.

We're not grouped (just on headset via Discord) and we're not even in the same systems. Is there something that people do to work around this, or do you simply drop quests until you get a 'Kill X # of creatures" mission?

Expedition 4 - reward problem [Question]

So I started the 1st expedition (which I missed out on during its first run) and went to the Anomaly in order to grab the previous reward eggs for the Companion objective. Imagine my surprise when Mr. Quicksilver demanded I finish Expedition 4 in order to gain access to the Sandworm egg. Guess what, I did. But the game thinks I didn't. Do I have to redo the whole fucking Expedition again when it comes back in a few weeks? I really don't want to. If there's anyone willing to speedrun it with me when it comes back, just send me a PM once it goes live. If this is just a glitch, I appreciate any tips on how to circumvent it. Thanks!

Difference between steam version and xbox pc version [Question]

Hi all, some days ago i started playing no man sky on the game pass, and since i loved it i decided to buy the game on steam to hold the game even at the end of the subsciption. I noticed something strange: even if they should be the same game, on the xbox version, with my 970, i can play at 60 or more ping stable. On the steam version, i can't surpass the 55 with the same settings... am i the only one with that issue?

Expedition 1 Post Black Hole [Question]

Quests not awarding larval cores like it should. [Bug]

Just finished a quest on a space station that said it awarded 25 larval cores. After warping to my base and opening up a refiner I have found out the the mission emissary stiffed me the 25 larval cores, even though the award showed up like it should have in the upper right hand side of the screen.

Best way to find flora [Question]

So I'm doing a mission where you have to find Flora, Fauna, and minerals in Manaz 32/N8, a fractured planet. I have gotten both minerals and fauna, but I'm missing just one flora, and I'm done with the mission. I've spent almost 3 hours flying, walking, going in every cave, scanning everything in sight, and no luck. These are the flora I have found so far.

Improve Cronus interaction [Suggestion]

the interaction with chef Cronus at the anomaly could need some improvement:

the menu shouldn’t prioritise creature pellets over cooked meals, so one has to scroll down. creature pellets are not the #1 choice to present to him.

same as above with stuff in our capital ships. there’s a reason why i left the frozen tubers in my capital ship, but carry the mystery stew with me.

after an initial greeting we should remain “logged in” until we leave manually, so we only have to repeatedly hit the present button. i have almost 370 items to present. takes forever…. and yes, after roughly 10 minutes presenting, the game crashed and i have to start over… fuuuuuuuuu!!!

Concept: Exotic Multitool Sniper/Combat Revisit Update [Discussion]

so, we have experimental multi-tools, and they're cool and all that, but i would like to see an exotic class of multitool (S Class with a special border instead of the leaves things), and have them be special in the fact that they can have more slots, the max, 48 slots as with other inventories, and can have special upgrades specific to them such as special scopes, and maybe the capability to utilize special ammo (maybe EMP ammo crafted from ion batteries and some sort of metal, maybe copper, that stuns sentinels in place) so that we can have more variety, and maybe also add special missions in another room of the anomaly, and only exotic multitools can unlock it, and maybe also have them upgradeable with a special module that allows them to hack factory mainframes or something cool like that, and make it also work with your atlaspass level. (highest atlaspass blueprint available to you), and in general make them super special, and really rare, maybe as a reward for nexus mission weekend events, expeditions, or for purchase with quicksilver, and have a rare chance of being available from planetary exchanges in the vault (this idea would be mostly late-game for players with many hours), and have them fully customizable, being able to swap parts out, and add stuff at a workbench in the anomaly (this is probably the least important feature of this idea). i just want multitools and such revisited. and, for these special exotic multitools, maybe have a main inventory of 48 slots which can house all these special upgrades, and a secondary inventory of the current amount of slots...

My character wobbles direction whenever he walks forward. Can anyone help me? [Question]

Just installed the game and just started but my character wobbles heavily when walking anywhere.

I have no controller plugged in.

It seems to be whenever he comes into contact with a sudden elevation change such as stepping on a small rock or piece of debris. He'll jitter side to side then veer off in a random direction.

I'd also noticed that whenever I sprint and rotate my camera simultaneously occasionally the entire game slows down and my camera spinning input lags heavily.

Other than that I'm not getting any lag or fps issues. My desktop is overkill for the game. It's just giving me this super annoying movement issue.

Any ideas?

Visceral Synthesizer etc in Normal save. [Question]

I decided to keep playing my Expedition 4 save after it converted to normal. So now I have the Visceral Synthesizer and the Archive Override Implant taking up 2 tech slots. There appears to be no point in this tech for normal. Some similar stuff from previous expeditions was made available outside the expeditions via quicksilver (still no purpose though). I'm inclined to delete these items and free up the slots.

Why should I keep these items?

A review from the heart after 40 hours of gametime! [Discussion]

I'd like to begin by saying how much joy this game has brought me over the last 40 or so hours.

Perhaps one day I'll get bored once I feel like I've seen everything, but I just continue to be blown away by this game. The variety in systems, planets, flora and fauna (not to mention ships) is just outstanding.

I keep stopping every 15-20 mins to take a picture of another incredible view, whether its a new planet from afar, or a sunset from the surface, or even a weird carbon structure. All the planets feel and look so, so different, if only slightly, and even individual planets look and feel completely different depending on the time of day and weather. I absolutely love this about the game. The cave systems are also amazing, and the transition from surface to space and space to surface is so, so seamless. And even though I realize the game is procedural, and that fact is fairly obvious, it feels as though it has been done in a way that captures the spontaneous and infinite nature of the universe.

I don't mean to gush, but I am truly blown away. On top of all I've said, the music, the NPCs, even the story has me totally gripped. There is something this game that has had a truly profound effect on me.

P.S. Please add ship lights we can switch on and off, and please make it so the weather outside doesn't appear to be inside the cockpit of our ships!

The base building glitches in this game are legitimately starting to make me mad. [Discussion]

Stuff constantly disappearing. When I move something in a room, the entire room itself is deleted leaving all my objects floating in the air, leaving me to find more materials to rebuild the room everytime I want to move a god damn plant to a different location.

My door to my landing pad just decided to vanish. Then my landing pad vanished, leaving my ship floating in the air.

I'm so tired of losing stuff I spent time and materials creating. Its making me want to either just stop playing or ignore the base building entirely because I feel like I'm wasting my time. Why build something if its just gonna vanish 5 minutes after?

Huge shoutout to everyone making bases for expedition players [Discussion]

I only picked up the game recently, and hadn't done the expeditions the first time around. And the only reason I'm on track to finish the current one is because some legend built a giant ramp atop a mountain to facilitate the 'remain airborne for 20 seconds' objective. I was at a loss for how I was going to manage otherwise.

Someone else built a sizeable base on the starting planet for farming emeril, carbon, oxygen and several valuable crops. The resources and money from selling the excess made starting from scratch so much easier, and helped complete several objectives right off the bat.

So, to whoever made those bases and all like it, know that your work is appreciated. I tip my helmet to you.

(Expedition redux) I'm not saying I'm bad at the game. But I won't deny it. [Question]

Hey all, Mr. Jack here, and I've been struggling a little with one particular step of the expedition and it's a little embarrassing on my part.

So a little context, I've put over 100 hours into the game by now, 80 on my main save, and the rest on expedition 2, 4 and now the first. And in that time I've accomplished a lot and am proud of myself. But there's one part of the expedition that I haven't been able to progress because of my own inexperience with... Storm crystals.

I've never really used them much or cared for them besides occasionally seeing them while exploring and selling them, so I have no idea where I'm supposed to find them besides in a storm of some kind, which is about as obvious as saying the sky is blue. ... Well blue here anyway.

That's definitely going to change after this, now that I've realised just how much better the upgraded warp fuel using them is, and yes, I got to the centre of the galaxy and played way too much of the gane without the ability to make them or even get them outside of occasional quest rewards, but for now, I'm kind of in the dark on what to do about getting them.

Do I just look for a planet with bad weather and wait? Do they only spawn in specific bad weather? Specific systems? You'd think I'd know this but I really don't.

Thanks in advance, and now I'm curious to hear anymore advice that might help me, or anyone else who was in the dark about aspects of the game like this, improve.

After the lates update (3.73?) the game has become unplayable - crashing! [Bug]

Hi intrepid space peeps

Just simply TRYING to build bases in NMS now it crashed CONSTANTLY! I have emailed HG and reported it as I have turned off my console in disgust and walked away. Im using PS4 and previously (after they sorted the awful frontiers glitches) the game has been crash free

UNTIL NOW - UPDATE TIME. It has rendered the game useless. Not glitch building just simply slotting bits together causes a massive crash, needing a full reload EVERY TIME.

The Teleport Cables are Ridiculously Long [Bug]

Before Frontiers dropped teleport cables were about 2ft long, just long enough to indicate which direction the teleporter was taking you. This was good.

After Frontiers dropped you could see the entire length of the cable. It was unsightly and people complained.

Eventually "The Fix" for it dropped, now teleport cables are 20+ feet long, and I feel like I need to limbo inside all of my established bases whenever near a teleporter.

I'm not seeing anyone complain about it since "The Fix". Is everybody seriously ok with this? It's really unsightly, and unless put back to the way it was pre-Frontiers, I'm going to have to completely change how I place teleporters in a base.

And yes, I have submitted zendesk tickets.

Earn Explorer Guild Standing [Question]

I'm currently on Phase 4 of the current expedition. I have fully completed all the previous phases. I have just spent the past 1 hour transporting to all the previous space stations I've visited , and then another 2 hours jumping system to system. I have not found ONE explorers guide mission that I can take. The only ones that are visible at the mission agent (Only 2-3 that I've seen) are for higher ranks which I obviously don't have. Is this a bug? Is the expedition broken? Am I missing something?

The glitch glitched [Question]

So I've been doing one of the Destroy Depot quests and had the problem of the depot the game sending me to already being destroyed. However after resolving that by finding a new depot I went to toggle the quest back on only to see it say "Destroy Depots 0/0". I hoped destroying the new depot would just clear the quest anyways but no such luck so I was wondering if anyone had experienced the same thing and found a work around or not.

Sidenote, I think this happened because I switched my armorer in the middle of doing the quest so don't do that.

PS4 Controller prompts?? [Bug]

I'm coming back to NMS for the Expeditions after a few months away. I'm playing on Steam, and historically I've never had a problem using a (wired) PS4 controller.

However - for some reason the controller input prompts / icons are now showing as Xbox prompts in game.

I recall NMS had full PS4 controller support - has a recent update changed that, or am I missing something obvious?

I've already reinstalled Steam, reinstalled the game, set PS4 controller support on in Steam, etc etc. The usual stuff.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I've recently become obsessed with matching my exosuit to my ship. I'm now a proud owner of a golden vector, and I can't match the exhaust colors! My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day us ruined.

Walk around [Information]

I’ve found that the best way to avoid the feeling of, “once you spend 5 minutes on a planet you’ve seen it all,” is to spend time, on foot, wandering around. It’s technically true, in terms of what assets are going to load, that you have seen most of what the planet has to offer within the first 5 minutes of landing. But that’s just the first half of the equation. Now those assets get put together by the procedural generation engine. That’s where the magic of the game is found. Not, “what is going to load,” and more, “how and where is it going to load.” More times than not, when I spend at least a few day/night cycles on a planet, I inevitably find something beautiful or unique that I would otherwise have missed.

Mods no longer work... At all. Even new ones. [Bug]

So I don't play NMS publicly. I don't do team events, or anything on public servers. For me, it's a way to get deeply lost in the stars after a hard day of work. Riding my Theropod or Triceratops, or Robot horse this way and that. A space zen cowboy on a purple world. Sometimes I will build things that I think the community would dig, but that is my only touch to the public part of NMS.

So I use mods to fix quality of life things that make experiencing the game more fun for me; movement enhancements, scanning doesn't take longer than people decompose, instant refinement, etc.

I keep them updated with the iteration that is released, etc.

The night before Thanksgiving Eve, everything worked. Now? Ge crashes just after the opening brand screen. I am thinking that it is because of all the teams mission updates for the Normandy, etc, that they don't want people cheating through, which I get completely.

Anyone else having this issue?

Tips for starting anew (Previous PS4 player moving to PC) [Discussion]

Hello everyone, I recently built a PC in the last year and might also be getting the Valve Index. No Mans Sky is on sale right now and I am finally going to grab it for my PC. Crashing [Discussion]

Anyone else having crashes today? I've had 3 in 2hrs. Doing the weekly, had it completed for 1200 quicksilver, landed on atlas and the game kicked me, thus ending my mission and progress. Lost my hadal cores and so it has given me a new weekly quest.

Super stuck in NMS. Not sure if this is a bug or what [Question]

So I'm at the point in the storyline where I've just created the hyperdrive and it's telling me to trace the signal to get antimatter blueprints. So I did that and found the signal. The signal itself is located underground under a volcano. Next to the volcano and sort of going into it is a building. I cannot reach the signal point underground, and even tried using my manipulator tool to dig to it, but it doesn't dig into the volcano. I imagine the building leads into it or something, and I need to enter it, so I ran around and jumped around every single inch of the building, and there's no open doors, no prompts to open doors, nothing. Literally no way to get inside. I scoured the area around the building thinking there was some secret door that opens into the ground and lets me inside or something. Nothing. There's the save outpost near it that had a couple crates that I opened and took what they gave. That's about it. Around the building and area are whispering eggs. I was like, maybe I need to shoot these things? So I did, and of course out came the monsters, so I had to jetpack to a high point and sit there until the swarm went away.

I tried to search online, and everything I saw indicated that you enter this building and interact with a terminal to get the antimatter blueprints. I also searched a recent guide from SurvivalBob on youtube and fast-forwarded to this portion of the storyline, and his antimatter location was on a paradise planet as opposed to a hot, toxic volcanic one like mine lol, and when he reached the building, the doorway was busted open and he could enter it and interact with the terminal. I can absolutely ASSURE you that this is not the case with my building. It's absolutely 100% sealed. I covered every square inch and nook and cranny of the outside of that building. I used the manipulator tool to dig all around it and underneath it,...

Hi guys, I'm just coming back after a hiatus, and I'm not sure if this is the "big" one or not. It's kind of neat with the empty space, and I can live with the color. But if I'm hunting one, I want it to be the big one. First I just took a garbo 18 slotter because I didn't realize I could pass it up and get it free. Finally to a point where I have the money, so I want to hunt a max slotter S class.. I'm fairly new to this game (been playing for 3 weeks as of today) and there's so much i need to learn [Question]

I have a huge number of questions, but I'll start off by asking about upgrading inventory slots. Using a signal booster and an exocraft, I've got sufficient inventory space, but for my ships I have no clue if I can increase the amount of space in the technology tab.

Also on that topic, is there a way to get more space in storage containers, or do I have to just be very well organized?

Question unrelated to those, but is there any sort of vehicle customization for ships and freighters like there is for exocrafts? And how do I get a better hyperdrive for my freighter?

I've noticed a lot of edible products and such, but I can't find a use for them. Is it worth making a nutrient processor, or is it just for show?

I can't think of anything else, but I'll likely make another post in the future. I need to get back to my game now friends, i seemed to have misplaced my anomalous doughnuts. Thanks!

On the "shallowness" of the game. [Discussion]

At what point do the updates become worth less because none of the mechanics added are ever built out into something more comprehensive? I suspect the answer will depend on each person's own opinion, but I think I'm hitting my limit.

I bought the game at launch, played it a TON (in fact I bought my PS4 specifically to get this game), then moved on for a while. Came back when base building was first added, played some more, then moved on again. Came back this year to play expeditions, actually bought the game again so I could play on PC, and I think I'm hitting the wall again. There has been a ton added to the game, but it all feels like the start of something that was never finished. It's like the game is starting to feel like it's at the point it should be at if it was a Beta, and the mechanics were now ready to be fully detailed out.

Maybe because it's all game mechanics with no diversity. By that I mean that there is no variation in how things work the first time vs the hundredth time. Once you've searched one derelict freighter, you've done them all. Stealing whispering eggs is the same set of steps each time. The worm nests are all identical low risk grinds. Saving a freighter from attack is the same every single time. After you explore a new game mechanic once or twice it just becomes a grind to do it again, and again, and again. New base parts added to the game? Better go waste a few hours of your life digging up salvage data modules again for some reason. They're literally everywhere on every planet, but digging is the only way to get them. Ship upgraded to the max? Don't worry the pirates never got harder. Finally got a nice farm setup? There's no end game for all the money you'll make. The reward you got from expedition 3? Doesn't do anything still, just another feature that feels abandoned halfway though development.

Permadeath mode just hits different. [Discussion]

New player here. Played it on normal and made it to the centre of the euclid galaxy. Expedition 1 came out and I finished it. (I think I had a benefit as I was not long finished the beginners mode)

I decided to start a permadeath game.... and died before fixing my ship.

Restarted and have made it to the second world. That makes it a lot easier.... but everything is so much more scary on permadeath mode. Its great.

I am looking to make it easy for myself tho and as soon as the anomaly opens up I'll be adding my expedition rewards.

It literally takes me longer to enter and land in a space station now than it does to warp, teleport, or sometimes even load a save. Haven't had a single crash either. Making expedition 1 better than it would be on my Xbox One S.

Feature Request [Suggestion]

This may stem from me being cranky though I still think it would be great.

I would love to see a do not disturb feature on space ships communicators. It should ignore space pirates, anomaly's when warping, traders everything.

I'm not saying don't inform the player just turn off that annoying sound and make it flash one time of the events. While still being able to turn on the old beeping sound.

I cant tell you how long on my new save Ive been ignoring freighter battles but if they call my ship one more time because they're in distress I'm going to help the pirates.

Expedition 1 - Getting an Overseer [Discussion]

I must be missing something, and I am sure that it's just because I haven't played the game in a while but..

Ive started Expedition 1, thought it would be nice to start again. I've made a base, put down my base computer and started creating my buildings. Im now on Phase 2 and need to grow 20 plants. I believe I can't do this without the farmer NPC, which means that I have to get an overseer etc.

From what I remember from the main game, the base computer would start looking through 'archives' and eventually start you off on the quest for setting up your base... or was it a remote terminal thing.. anyway, I'm pretty fuzzy as because this is expedition, there's a lot fewer newbie pointers telling me what to do to get this started.

As you can tell, my memory is pretty fried - if anyone could tell me how to get this started it would be great. Every guide I see just says 'follow the main quest' but I'm not getting the quest bumps as it's the expedition and not the main game.

Struggling with a glitch in Expedition One, can anyone help? [Bug]

I'm trying to buy an A-Class starship, but every time I talk to one of the NPC's standing next to their ship, they either disappear or the dialog tree won't activate. I won't be able to finish the Expedition if I can't get that ship!

I like the game, but I also feel the only thing it's missing from being the best space exploration game IMO is a combat overhaul (less "infantry" style, more spaceships based). Help! [Question]

The only thing from me completing the Pioneer quest (present one) iis finding an abandoned system.

I have tried getting walker brain for conflict scanner but sentinels keep disappearing before the walker appears. I have also tried black hole warping upto 3 times to no avail. do I have to explore ALL red, blue, green stars to find an abandoned one, or is there a way I am missing? Or, at this point in the quest should I just give up getting the golden ship.

New To The Game - Weird Construction Bug [Bug]

As the title says, I'm new to the game and have seen this weird construction bug when building my first base. I wonder if it's just me doing something wrong or an actual bug with the game.

Every time I try to pick up and move an object that is on a floor, the floor below the original placement deletes when I place the object back down.

Changing Vr Desktop Resolution [Question]

I tried out NMS in VR and the performance was really bad, I saw people saying that turning down the desktop resolution (pancake view) while in VR helped but I don't see any option like that. When I go to video settings there are only the options to change hud and select my GPU. I also checked graphics and didn't see it. Where can I find the slider?

I have a 1080 ti, i5 11400, and 24gb ram for reference. I get very horrible frames on the lowest settings.

I shouldn't have ridden that empty exotic starship [Bug]

TL;DR: Random exotic ship was found at the space station. I was able to ride it without purchase. When I rode it, my owned ship's data is corrupted, ships got mixed up, and the game became glitchy.

I was enjoying expedition 1, but I had a severe headache and decided to take a nap. My game was still running, my interloper being in the space station.

After a few hours, when I woke up, I just found an exotic ship that landed in the space station. I never purchased it, and I tried to find the ship's captain, but I was able to simply ride it! And the notice said that "Primary Ship has changed". I thought that I got a free exotic ship, but I never knew that it would cause trouble.

I switched back to my S-Class Shuttle I bought earlier, then the ship became C-Class! And whenever I switch my primary ship, the previous ship is abandoned and removed from my owned ship list. I also noticed that the inventory of Shuttle is changed and replaced with my C-Class Starter ship. My owned ships got mixed up - S-Class Shuttle is C-Class Ship now, but ship design and name is still old S-Class Shuttle. My Stater C-Class ship is gone. I got an exotic S-Class ship, which has inventory and property of the S-Class shuttle.

And now there are additional glitches happening. Now all NPC starships are completely invisible and inaccessible. I can sense a starship with sound and particles, and scanners, but the starship itself is invisible. When I talk to captain NPCs, results are different every time. Sometimes the dialogue is ended immediately. Sometimes it works normally and makes the ship being offered visible temporarily. Sometimes I cannot interact with NPC at all. Sometimes NPC says that "the lifeform is busy"(forever). Sometimes when NPC is interacted, NPC and starship get immediately reset, and new NPC and new starship are spawned to replace glitchy NPCs (then they are...

Here's a new update idea to throw out there to hello games I have always talked about wanting to be able to race our star ships and you can initiate the race at a spacestation but what if the only spacestation to do that at is the abandoned ones but they are now occupied by black market dealers not only do you go there to start racing star ships but you can also be able to find races for the exocrafts and be able to expand inventory slots for those too and they will sell black market tech and multitools

Can't download base, but also... [Question]

Hi there, new player (85 hours) and still don't understand everything. In my game, I found a public mining operation that was a great source of revenue. I was able to warp to it every day, extract some stuff to sell in another system, all was groovy.

Then suddenly today, when I try to go to that base, instead of warp, it tries to download the base and then fails. When I go to the planet, it is not among the bases on the planet, but still shows up in the teleporter as "downloadable". It's like it is in a different instance than I am in and not available in my version of the planet any more? Occasionally it doesn't even show up on the teleporter option list, like it doesn't exist at all.

What is this behavior? And if I find another sweet location to hook into, how do I keep it from becoming disconnected from my version of reality, so I don't lose access?

Wierd expedition vs normal game [Discussion]

Ok, during expedition, I was building an underground base, and before I could even turn my back it was regenerating in front of me, but in my normal gameplay, I've had the same base built underground for the past 2 months and never once had to dig it back out! WTF?!?

I know regrowth of ground is normal(ish) but I e never had a problem except expeditions. Also I've been getting this wierd graphics glitch, that when I'm in expedition it's like someone below me is using a mining laser under my feet even when I move. Underground, inside my base, above ground, don't matter, even while in my freighter and starbase it does it. Am I the only one who gets that?

Am I supposed to seen an animation when using a Settlement Chart? [Bug]

I played with settlements on launch day, but realized a few hours in that I picked a terrible planet. I ended up opting to abandon my settlement and look for a new one, but was hit by the bug where you are unable to find a new settlement. It seems that this bug may have never resolved itself. I logged into that character after a few months of not playing it and there's a message up talking about me needing to go to the settlement, but there's no marker anywhere when I select the mission. I was under the impression that I could look for another settlement in the meantime by using a settlement chart, but when I use a settlement chart the chart itself disappears, but nothing else happens. No marker added to the HUD, nothing. Am I still bugged?

For anyone just entering the game like me, I encourage you to do the current Expedition. [Information]

I purchased on Nov 14th and just completed the Expedition that is up and going currently. The objectives taught me so much about the game that it was incredibly helpful. If you're not sure that you want to wade through figuring things out I found this video very helpful. It's apparently from the last time the event ran and this time has lower requirements due to the condensed time span but the guide is still very solid. The only thing it doesn't emphasize enough perhaps is just how beneficial that buying your first A class ship actually is due to rewards.

I'm usually the type that doesn't like to 'cheapen' the experience buy rushing through things, but I'm also a collector type player. I don't think I'll have missed out on anything by pressing into this that I hadn't already /wasn't ready for in my main game.

PLEASE HELP [Bug]

So I'm on the quest "Ghost in the machine" at the very last part where I need to infiltrate the korvax facility. However I have already been to the facility that the quest wants to take me and unfortunately already broken the door for it as well. The quest won't progress if I enter the facility, and is just stuck on the prompt to destroy the door with my bolt caster. I went back as far as I could in the save to no avail. When will we be able to recolour black freighters? [Bug]

I've not been on my main save since the patch as I'm trying the expedition, but logged in today to have a go at some quicksilver stuff. I also thought I'd try to recolour my freighter from black to white, but it's still stuck as black. I'd hoped this patch would've fixed this. Expedition 1 Famous Explorer Bug: Solution/Workaround [Suggestion]

Ok, so I had some trouble figuring this out. Searches here and elsewhere for a solution were not as clear as I would have liked, so I will restate the solution as clearly as I can incase anyone is still struggling with the Famous Explorer Milestone, by far the most tedious and frustrating leg of this expedition.

The problem is this: you go to a listings agent (just to the right of the trade terminal in any space station) and none of the available missions grant explorers guild standing. They only award race specific standing, not explorers guild standing. You might see an explorers guild mission in red at the bottom, but you dont have enough standing to purchase it.

Most cursory searches here and elsewhere led me to the recommended solution of: "Warp from system to system praying to the Atlas that the Agent at each space station has a low level Explorers Guild mission available. Go to Korvax systems to boost your odds."

I did just that in 10 different systems. No luck.

Turns out the workaround is quite simple. Go to any agent, preferably a Korvax one, and complete the first 4 race specific missions offered. Come back, turn them in once completed. This will repopulate the roster with guild specific missions, including Explorers guild!

Then, all you have to do is pick up explorers guild missions one at a time. Complete, turn in, and pick up another. Completing one Explorers guild mission seemed to consistently open up another Explorers guild mission. A couple of times I got a mission that seemed bugged. Waypoints wouldn't display. I simply returned to the listing agent, abandoned the mission, and a different objective type spawned. Each time I did this the new mission type was still Explorers guild. I cant promise that this always happens when you abandon, but in my experience it seemed safe to do so.

Hi everyone, I would like to share with you sometime strange I've seen today. When the first expedition was released, I finished it and obtained all th rewards. Back then, my friend couldn't finish it on time and missed the golden ship. Today, he has another chance to do it but its PC broke down and it will not be fixed before the end of the second first expedition (You still there ? 😆). I proposed to do it for him with its steam account. I played for an hour or two until I'll be able to get into the space anomaly. And there, all the rewards from the previous expeditions were unlocked. (I finished all of them and my friend, only the 3rd one). So I switched to its main save and I was able to gather all the rewards of every expeditions (golden ship, Normandy Fregate, sand worm face,...) Does someone already experienced something like this ??!!

Learning how to do stuff without doing the story? [Question]

Hi! Relative newb here.

The story teaches you a lot (most?) things, and doing the main couple quests seems to be the only way to learn how to do stuff.

Is there an alternative? For example, the main quest teaches you how to build a hyper drive, base computer, whatever.

Is there any other way to get that info?

Fleet bug? [Bug]

Landed on my freighter to debrief my first mission and the command room is gone. If I build another one it tells me there are no pending missions. If I try to assign a mission it says my freighter is pending debrief.

Expeditions need to be done differently! [Discussion]

Before I start...I appreciate all the work HG has put into No Mans Sky. They are to be commended for their efforts. Their support of the game & their players has set an example other AAA studio's coule learn from. I appreciate the opportunity to do the 1st Expedition that I missed.

That being said.

Expeditions really to to be rethought. Having to start a new character/save each & every time a new expedition comes out is frankly a huge pain in the ass & a massive waste of the time I have to play.

I get the argument that it levels the playing field for old & new players, but that hardly seems fair to me. It trivializes the time I have spent in game doing mission's, exploring, etc. so that every thing I have accomplished means nothing. I get penalized for having put 800+ hours into the game so that I am basically at the same level as someone that just started.

That's just wrong. New players starting out will acquire some nice gear to use if they continue playing, me I will never use those character/saves again so it all gets trashed. The only thing I have to show for my time is a small handful of rewards that I get account wide for completing the expedition.

It should be the PLAYERS CHOICE on whether to use their main character to do the expedition or to roll a new new one. Forcing me to start over every time is tedious & really doesn't encourage me to do the expeditions at all. I'm about halfway though Expedition 1 & I'm pretty fed up with it at this point. The way the expeditions are now really doesn't encourage me to do them or play the game.

I've encountered more bugs, glitching MOBS, inability to activate dialogs, had all my ships disappear from my freighter unless I reboot...this rework was obviously very rushed & not properly tested.

In the Cartographer Expedition I had to WALK for TEN HOURS to get to a settlement. I couldn't start over...

Any tips for any of these? I've tried the freighters a few time and get my ass handed to me. Can you use the portal glyphs to get a ship in the expidition? I don't understand the explorers standing at all.

So I’ve done the whole thing except for one milestone in phase 4 where you have to get the explorers standing. I can find missions to get the standing fine, but I never actually have enough standing to do the missions. I only have 5 somehow and you need 8 to do all of the missions I’m finding. I've been trying to get into the game on and off since it launched, and I thought today would be a good time to pick it up and try out this whole expeditions mode. Holy Fuck was I wrong. I spent a good hour trying to actually get my ship fixed because I kept getting buzzed by idiots shooting me and my ship with rockets. Finally get into space, I get blown to smithereens because apparently I cant have nice things. All this on top of NMS's typical confusing and annoying UI and explanation of mechanics make it REALLY hard to try and enjoy what by all measures should be exactly my type of game.

Starbirth Mission: need help [Question]

Hey, I’m fairly new to the game so there’s lots I don’t understand yet. However, in this given mission I’m at the point where I crafted the consciousness bridge and it wants me to warp to the correct system to start the next step. Problem is, I’ve been following the galaxy map “current objective” now for approximately 75 warps or 20,000LY total and I’m still not in the correct system. Is this a bug? Had anyone else had this happen? Is there a way to fix this or “make the objective closer”? All my other missions that require a warp are within 2-3 system distances. Not 75. Thanks for any advice!

Starships need an autopilot [Suggestion]

Our starships need some sort of autopilot, even if it's implemented as a researchable technology at the Anomaly. Since flight controls are arcade-style rather than true flight control, I think just a handful of simple functions would do: Maintain altitude. Maintain current heading. This would have to turn off once you reached one of the poles. Maintain current speed. Fly to Lat/Long (with a screen to input the coordinate digits). This would turn off once you got there.

They could all be combined, and #2 and #4 would be mutually exclusive. That's really all that's needed. Obviously these would only function once you are in a planet's atmosphere.

Then there just needs to be a simple key/button, or combination thereof, to turn it on and off (the quick menu would be too slow for this--too many button presses). Maybe thrust+break in tandem, since that isn't something we tend to do by accident.

Hello Games. Please either let us flip the Sloping Corners upside down, or provide an inverted version of the piece. It’s driving me crazy. I don’t really like to use glitching, I just want to flip the triangles upside down to fill in the gaps in my brutal architecture designs.

It seems like such a huge lapse in the available pieces; it’s so common to end up with holes when building that only an inverted sloping panel could fill.

Just completed expedition 1 and collected all of my rewards so I could do the 2nd expedition to try and get the Normandy but my expedition save file isn’t converting into a normal save. I try to start a new expedition but it keeps restarting the first expedition. Can any one help?

This is ridiculous [Question]

I`m about 140 hours into the game and I really liked it so far. I love searching for the right gear / ships / planets whatever. Could do it all day.

But I recently, while hunting and swapping freighters, I made the big mistake to buy a customization color and to apply it. And save. After that I found out there is no option to revert back to the original freighter colors, ever. This alone would not be so terrible. Can still swap freighter right?

But here is the deal : Now, every time I buy and transfer to a new freighter, the color(s) will carry over to after the first reload. I have found no way to stop this. Have I permanently fu**ed my game now?

I pray that somebody knows a fix to this. I don`t want to start all over again.

How I quickly found an abandoned system for the event. [Information]

Hi, new player here, but this worked for me.

Make a base so you can get back easily when this is over.

Go the the Space Anomaly.

Get the economy scanner from the back room.

Get coordinates for a Black Hole from Polo.

Go to and through the hole to get some distance from everyone else running the event.

Open the Galaxy Map. An abandoned system will show an economy with only the first two pieces of data - regular systems have three items listed in the economy data. Warp to it.

???

Profit.

Ship changes color after buying? [Question]

This has happened twice already. I’ve camped at trade outposts waiting for a nice color to show up, twice I’ve found a black ship, I inspect it, it’s all good to go and then when I buy it, it changes color! The first one changed to white/red and the second time it changed to white/orange. What’s causing this?

I'm wondering, what is the most hazardous extreme planet you have came across? [Question]

I love searching for and living on the most hazardous planets possible. Before I sold my Xbox and migrated to PC play, I found a firestorm planet with a triple drain naturally (despite having basic heat resistance) and in the near constant storms, I barely could stand outside for, literally, 8 seconds. Sadly, the sentinel dencity was low, aggressive, but low. When I transferred, I lose the portal code for it... so many storm Chrystals....

What's the most hazardous, extreme planet that you have found?

Underated Nms Lore Stuff [Discussion]

I just went on a nms wiki deep dive so here's a list of obscure lore bits that I can't find much reference too or any hype about:

-There is a Lovecraftian entity referred to as the abyss which is described as on equal level with the atlas.

​

-Iteration Ariadne got replaced by an evil imposter during one of the weekend event missions and also there's like 8 pages of lore about people who died looking for the abyss.

​

-The Waking Titan Arg which explained the origins of the Atlas, the nms game itself (in the worlds lore) and the fact that the atlas (or something in it) is a girl called Emily chilling in the simulation.

​

-The other multiverse's exist because: in order for the Atlas to simulate reality it needs to simulate itself, because it's in reality, which results in it dreaming up an iteration/multiverse which might have a more streamlined Atlas which dreams more iterations.

​

-The creators of the Atlas took the simulated plans for a streamlined Atlas, left Earth (I think) with the better version and left our old Atlas to die on Earth alone.

​

-The First Spawn weren't militant warriors who enslaved the Korvax, they were magical witches and warlocks who enslaved the Korvax.

​

-Travellers are all simulations of the Atlas so that it can sort out it's daddy issues, and therefore all travellers are technically the same guy, sharing the same corrupted brain scan which the atlas took before it got abandoned.

​

-Not lore but if the Abyss is on the same level as the atlas, could that imply it's on it's plane of reality? Like a part of the Atlas machine rather than the simulation. Maybe it's just the rust/corrosion that's slowly causing the Atlas's failure.

Am I doing the Expedition right? [Question]

I’m in phase one and I had no trouble with 7 of the 8 milestones. RENDEZVOUS 1 does clearly state that reaching the first rendezvous point may take significant time. I’ve warped at least 15 times now along the expedition route but it feels like there’s no end in sight. Am I missing something, or do I just need to keep going?

Anyone know how to get the derelict freighter to register completed? [Bug]

Doing the Expedition, and I've now done two derelict freighters. When I sold off the first goods and realized that I hadn't gotten the milestone, I assumed I must have missed an area. So I bought another beacon and made absolutely certain that I opened every door and went into every compartment of the next one. I did notice that it never gave me a progress report, and when I checked the log there was just program-speak in the fields that are supposed to say, 7/11 areas explored etc. I assume that that's the problem; even though I explored the area and got the heading 'Crews Quarters explored' the tally wasn't working and triggering the milestone. But how do I fix it? I've got one Explorer mission and the 5th rendezvous left, plus the derelict.

Loud humming?? Instant headache [Question]

So I downloaded the game to my ps5. I haven't played for maybe 2 updates. I load into expedition and when I'm finally able to walk this loud humming noise can be heard every few minutes for 3 to 10 seconds at a time. It has an extreme amount of bass which causes my headset to vibrate. I got a terrible headache after the second time. Any idea what the cause is and how to fix?

Co-op base building 2021 [Question]

Hi Guys,

Few years ago (probably like 2019) we tried with my friend playing this game in multiplayer. It was a little bit glitchy etc but it was overall fun.

Our main concern was that we were not allowed to ahare/use npcs in base (I think it they were called like overseer, engineer etc - you could take missions from them). It was quite inconvenient since in the end we had to build 2 bases and not share one.

I saw that from that time a lot of updates were added to the game. Have the situation changed and you can share base NPCs or is it still the same?

Sorry if I messed up with the names but it's been a long time since I've played this. PS4 version if that matters.

Ugh, went exploring to other player bases and now I'm hopelessly lost... does anybody have the portal/galactic coordinates for the 5th rendezvous, or at least the planet name? Apparently the mini-version of this expedition goes to a different place than the original, tried looking it up already

Investigate base computer archive? [Question]

I'm on the Awakenings quest line and I'm completely lost. My base computer doesn't offer the ability to "investigate" anything, just take a screenshot and such.

When I exit the menu, the bottom right mission says "Habitation programme initializing" and that the quest is in another system that I can't get to because I don't have the hyperdrive.

Please help, I'm SO confused...

Ok, my game is installed on a 7200RPM HDD.

My system config is:

  • Intel Core i5 7600k

  • GTX 1070

  • 16Gb DDR4

FPS fluctuates ate 20-40 fps and has sudden high CPU usage spikes that makes the game stutter (it's a 7 gen quad core but it's a decent quad core cpu), what can I do to make it run as it should?

Expedition [Question]

At the end of an expedition run, can it be changed over to a regular save file (where you can go through atlas, artemis, etc quests) and I can make it my main save? Is everything else exactly the same as the normal/survival/perma saves? Or can you ONLY do expedition milestones? The rewards you get and progression you get thrown through saves so much time on early game grind, so I want to make it my main save.

Newcomer question [Discussion]

Just bought and currently downloading the game. I was originally planning on getting this on christmas up until I saw that there were seasonal event reruns and I didn't want to miss out especially when I get can get the Normany after finishing ME trilogy for the first time last month.

Can I finish the first expedition in the next week as an absolute noob? I just want to pace myself properly between learning and experiencing the game for the first time if at all possible or I have to turn on that sigma male grindset - the only only grind that matters (⌐■_■)

Should expedition rewards be redeemable more than once? [Question]

As I see it I can ONLY have 5 ships and 4 pets. One ship slot is taken by the golden vector. 2 pet slots are taken by the biological horror and the worm. So I really only have 5 ships and 4 pets.

Exploits and glitches would come out of that function I'm sure. It just sucks that "from a certain point of view" I have less

10 tips for those considering doing the expedition. [Information]

Just kind of jumped into it for the first time not knowing what to expect. I made a lot of mistakes, and hope to save a couple of you from doing the same. You can do the challenges in any order you want, even ones in the other phases. To get the reward for completing a challenge go into the expedition page and click on the completed challenge. (Did about 2/3 of them before I realized this. Would have saved a ton of time.) EVERY time you go to a new system check the space station. You are looking for a class A multitool, a cheap class A ship, and explorer's guild missions. (Only accept the missions that can be accomplished on ANY planet. DO NOT do the missions till you have 11 of them stocked up.) Get a decent amount of salvaged data from the first planet. (Or anything of value really so that you can sell it) Then buy some basics from the terminal. You also need to buy the cheapest class A ship you can find as soon as you can. (You get an S class ship as a reward.) Get your free freighter whenever the fight appears. You want to buy 3ish cheap frigates so that you can send them out on the expeditions. Set up some hydroponics in your ship to start harvesting your 20 plants as well. Constantly be on the lookout for a low G planet to get your 20 seconds airborne on. Or a place with super heated storms should do. While at a place with storms make sure you get your distance traveled and the storm crystals. Save your sentinel killing until you are confidant in your ability to kill a walker. You need their brain to make a conflict scanner for your ship. (allowing you to find an abandoned star system.) You can do all your rendezvous missions at once, but I would recommend getting your hyper drive slightly upgraded to travel a bit cheaper. Don't travel to the black hole or too far off the track without doing these or at least setting up a base first along the route. For the...

Expanding the Base main quest - MAJOR game halting bug for several years? [Bug]

On the mission Expanding the base for the main quest, the overseer did appear. However he was unable to give me the next quest. If I talked to him, all he would say is to leave the Gek alone (standing with all races is very positive). If he won't give me any blueprints or won't give me any missions what is there to do? players have had this game breaking bug for years and the only way on PC is to edit a save file or you're forced to start the game all over again on console. What fix is there if you do every troubleshoot and nothings works for no one? I understand if this was a side quest but this is the main mission. This should have been fixed years ago.

Explorer's Guild for Expedition 1 [Question]

Ok, I know everyone is probably sick of seeing this question, HOWEVER... I have followed the advice I have seen here on the sub and it still doesn't seem to be working. I have the derelict freighter mission and getting my Explorer's Guild up to 16 left. But I cannot seem to get any Guild missions that are at my level.

I have: Warped to all Korvax systems, warped to T1 economy systems, done around 35 to 40 Korvax missions hoping to "clear the board" and get my standing up with them, I have interacted with knowledge stones and given gifts.

I still only get Korvax missions, or I managed to get 3 level 9 Explorer's Guild missions to pop up on one board. I am beyond frustrated at this point.

I have checked other race's boards and have gotten the same thing, however, I have not tried to up my rep with them, opting on the strategies I saw here.

Is anyone seeing something I'm missing? Have I somehow screwed my standing with them this bad? I am at a loss, and I desperately want the Golden Vector, since I was busy on the first go-round. I'm tempted to start an entirely new expedition save and try it over again.

Overseer’s office construction bug? [Question]

I recently claimed my first settlement and it told me to go to the construction site to build my overseer’s office, but when I got there the terminal just says “terminal reserved for overseer”. And there is already another persons overseers office on the site i’m supposed to construct. There are no other mission objectives and i’m losing unit everyday to the settlement because the maintenance costs are more than the settlement makes.

I have played nms for quite a long time, I have explored every type of planet, I have got 3 of my favourite class starships and I have finished the storyline. I know nexus missions are an option, but after a while they become repetitive doing them over and over again. I love exploration but there is not much point in going exploring because it's not necessarily rewarding to do so. I have a lot of bases and one massive underwater base on an earth-like planet so I don't see the point in making more bases. Community expeditions are not my thing. So, how do you guys have fun in nms after basically beating the aspect of the game?

No online bases ever have power [Bug]

When I play, and any time I go to another players base, it always acts like no wiring is ever hooked up, all batteries are dead, and even solar panels are always generating 0kPs. I haven't seen a functioning base since the cartographers expedition.

Please Hello Games, can we have an option to disable seeing all these player made icons infesting the game? [Suggestion]

We have a lot of options in the game to disable multiplayer related icons (I have everything disabled), but for some reason we still see these communication stations and buildings/bases icons. They completely infest the screen and the compass making it hard to find the icons you are supposed to be following.

It really ruins the experience.

Flying and building, but mostly building. [Discussion]

Those bring so unexpected issues to my life.

I'm not into expedition, pets, missions, reaching centers with utterly extreme methods, I just fly and build, build and fly.

And if flying is only painful in VR (the reason I don't use it), then building is painful always, as long as you build anything bigger than a shack.

Yesterday I fell through the solid surface whilst using building camera more times than I had s--ual encounters in my life, and some of you never had even a quater of that number.

I fell through corridors, plates, cuboids, landing pads, doors and ramps multiple times. And building standing on the planet surface is not always an option, it happens that I like harsh environments outside and falling down on a frenzy sentinel dog, wall of flame or spooky eye underwater thingy isn't my favorite way of fun, you know.

So, more than my wish to be able not only sit, but also take a horizontal posture in beds, which we have, I'd like not to fall through the solid surfaces, which has already been rendered at least.

Ive come here to ask some questions, since a friend an i played now for 30 hours on our safefile.

We noticed already some glitchy/buggy stuff like ruins are structured completly entirely etc etc these are peanuts.

whats buggin us is that we have gone for the 16/16 mission (purge way). She spoke to the Atlas and it disapeared instant. i wasnt able to speak to eat, but got dragged into a new galaxy for those who did the mission they know that ur ship get wrecked after (no issue). But i didnt finished the mission now because of that, its still there marked as unfinished my ship is wrecked and in a new galaxy as much as i love the game but this really annoying since im assuming that i have to re-enter the place and do it all over again.

is there anyone who experinced that? That can probably guide me or more us through it? it took us really long to grind all this stuff and i dont wanna redo it just to re-lose it a second time

expeditions freighter issue/question. [Question]

i recently started playing nms again recently and decided to give the current expedition a go, i warped a few times, fought off pirate attacking the first freighter and when i went to land to claim it my ship glitched into the freighter and exploded. when i spawned back in the freighter was gone.

will another one spawn if i warp a few times? and should it be free or should i try to get a farm going to pay for it.

Settlement Chart [Question]

So I've recently picked up the game again after a fairly lengthy break from it and was excited to try the new settlement mechanic and got myself a chart. After reading online a little I learned you an save scum to force a settlement on a specific planet and went searching for a nice one which I found but cannot for the life of me get it to find a settlement on that planet. Everytime Inuse the chart (and it actually works) it would give me a location off planet on one of the ones with either high or aggressive Sentinels (thanks game but no). Thinking I could trick it I flew to the opposite side of the planet so none of the other planets were visible in the sky and now it won't give me a settlement at all.

Am I just unlucky or can some planetabjust not spawn a settlement?

Expedition base disapearing for other players [Question]

I found a great spot for farming nanites (curious deposit) on the current expedition. Made myself a cosy base there. My GF made a base closeby, but when I'm not in game and in the same group, my base does not appear for her, it simply isn't there. I tried to re-ipload it many times but the base does not show for her.

I also tried to come to the spot with my main save and it's the same. Just plain emptiness on that spot.

Is it a bug? Can I fix it?

Streamlined Jetpack + Rainbow Trail error? [Bug]

With the other Jetpacks when you have the Rainbow Trail set you get the cool cycling colors in the glow on your back. With the Streamlined Jetpack while you leave a rainbow stream behind you, the glow on your back is only purple and doesn’t change colors.

Just completed the first expedition, but I have an urge to keep on this save! About 500 hours on record now. I just tamed the smallest thing i have seen so far, even the pellets were giant. It was like the borrowers haha.

So some ideas I want to share, which I think would be cool.

Space (and planet) background anims, so you can see pulsars, supernovae, etc. in the background someplace. Doesnt have to destroy stuff, but it just adds neat unique sights. Being on a planet and seeing a Supernova somewhere not far (but not even really there either).

Electromagnetic Polar Detector module for spacecraft only. Visually creates a little N bubble above the planets north pole so you can see how to navigate before entering the atmosphere.

A 'Haynes manual' kinda thing for spaceships and perhaps exocraft. Where you can find all different collectible parts and customise your own ship/craft in multiple different ways. Different wings, tips, cockpits, etc. You might be able to help the procedural gen by gathering data of ship combinations. No two designs should be the same.

Moar Stats! I play PC ( Steam ), and I am sucker for data/details. I am missing things like number of planets/stars/fauna/elements discovered, number of galaxies seen, number of fauna/predators/monstrosities/pirates killed. Something like ' KBs of data uploaded ' to the online services. So you can see you have contributed what amount. So many stats I would like to see more. How many settlements you have run total, nanites/units/quicksilver raised in total, etc.

Terraforming by feeding/nurturing the planets core with special new engineering tech to balance the make-up elements of the core into new structures and change biomes. After process begins, a planetwide storm happens and after, the planet is a new biome. Could be the planet...

Teleporter Base pictures stopped updating? [Bug]

Any body else's base pictures stopped updating on the teleporter list recently. I've created 3 new bases in the last week and none of them will use the captured pictures (just the blue graphic background). All other bases have pictures but none of them are updating if I capture a new picture.

Has the long-standing bug resurfaced or is it just me?

Get rid of the timers Hello Games [Discussion]

Let's be honest for a second, do you really enjoy waiting real life 20 plus minutes to get some material ready? How about one freaking day for your egg to hatch, not enough? Maybe waiting almost a month just for your pet to reach adulthood is more of your thing.

No one that plays a game likes those artificial delays, is boring, break the immersion, and it is just an useless obstacle. I don't like to wait weeks just to see my pet to grow or to wait whole hours to get my resources ready, just get rid of the clocks or make it in game time.

Ship hunting in space stations [Question]

So I loaded back into my main save after playing the expidition a little bit, and while chatting with my buddy I turned around and there was squid ship that i wanted but didn't want to trade my current for it. So to test to make sure it actually spawned there and was maybe even first wave, I grabbed a ship I was willing to trade, returned, reloaded, and now no ships are spawning no matter how long I wait. So am I doing something wrong or is the game being weird?

Expedition 1 - Honmatan OQ5 ship attained before 1st warp [Information]

Please ignore if this has been mentioned already, i was just starting Expedition 1 and I was able to get the Honmatan OQ5 before I left the first system, I hit a few planetary save points, and cubes in space stations to get the encrypted data.

and swapped for distress signal maps , second one was I activated aboard the space station was a distress signal for a class A shuttle on another planet - I fixed it and traded it in for scrap, which got me the acquire A class ship which is a phase 4 reward. and the reward is the Honmatan OQ5.

I'll find the exact planet when I boot up later, but wanted to share, and apologies if been mentioned 100 times already.

Getting biome prompts on freighter [Bug]

I tried searching to see if anyone else had this issue but I wasn't entirely sure what to search for so my results gave me nothing. Basically, I have a glitch on my freighter where I'm still feeling the toxic effects from a planet that I visited. I loaded my game up today and the effect is still persistent. I do not receive any damage from the effect, I just get the prompt about "nighttime toxicity levels" etc... I am playing on PC

Warped for 3 hrs and can't find final rendezvous point for the first expedition, anyone help? [Question]

Like title says I just can't find it. I've been traveling the expedition route, with the final rendezvous point activated in the log. I feel like I missed something but I missed the first one so I made sure to know what the point looks like so I never passed another one. Does anyone by chance have the planet coordinates for the final point? I don't want to miss completing the expedition since it's all I have left. Thank you for any help.

Mods to add NPCs? [Discussion]

Hey guys!

Been dipping my toes into the wonderful water of NMS mods, and it's kind of breathed new life into the game for me.

I was wondering, is there a mod that will allow me to add idle NPCs to my base building? They don't necessarily have to do anything, but just kind of stand around or move short distances? Just to make my settlement look busier? Is that possible?

Or, is there a way I can add multiple NPC terminals, like the farming, weapons, exocraft, etc? The ones we build for the side quests? Any way I can glitch build multiples of those?

I understand that I run the risk of it not loading properly. I'm curious what my limitations are.

Any way to fix the FPS drops and stutter? [PC] [Discussion]

Hello everyone, I bought the game a few days ago and so far I'm loving it. The one issue I'm having is a ton of stutter and FPS drops. The game stutters really bad whenever I'm sprinting or using the jetpack. Obviously I get some lag when I leave a planet but I'm not as worried about that. I'm playing co-op if that matters. But yeah the stutter is really starting to annoy me and I'm wondering if there's any fix. My game just drops from 60fps down to 25fps sometimes and it can be unplayable at times. I know it's not just regular FPS issues because it is at a solid 60fps before I sprint. When that happens I stop moving for a few seconds and it's better until I start sprinting again.

My specs are: i5-7600k, GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB RAM, Windows 10

Galactic Core [Question]

Am I missing something about getting to the ACTUAL center? I've gotten to the edge of the core, but it won't let me warp there. I've jumped over and over again, to stars all the way around the core, but can't get to the center. Is it just a matter of increasing your ships jump range? A specific setup of all four hyperdrive star types? I know I could just got find a portal to another galaxy, but it'd like to get there the "ol fashioned" way, ya know? Cheers.

Question about base building [Question]

Hey all,

New to NMS, and I'm loving it, but I'm having some issues with base building. I built a fairly neat little wooden base, but after a few teleports and such, the rocks (or rather the moss on them) was starting to grow through my floors and walls. It literally looked like fungus, heh.

So I figured I'd 'fix' that by just terrain manipulating all the rock away from the base, so now essentially it's free floating in a bubble amidst all the rock. But now I'm having an issue that when I spawn into my base from a reload, it clips me through the floor, and I'm stuck beneath my base. It's not a big issue since I can obviously just bore a tunnel to get out, but it's weird and annoying.

So any tips to keep one or either thing from happening?

The Purified title resulted in me losing my entire inventory [Question]

Hi, I was wondering if what happened to me in game was normal. I went through the final portal, cried six times, picked a new galaxy, woke up on a frozen world with none of my equipment working, freezing to death...and found a giant walker sentry falling out of the sky in front of me with an army of combat sentries who chased me down as I tried to run away with temperature falling, a frozen viewport. This was on a world with "gentle sentries" when I revived the sentries were gone and all my gear was gone and there was no grave to retrieve. I had like so many navigation and salvage data I meant to turn in that are gone now. I didn't see anyone else report anything like this and it's not in the walk through so, was this a bug? It made me want to stop playing tbh.

4 Core 4 Thread CPU, unplayable? [Question]

I absolutely loved the little time I spent in NMS but one issue that was ruining my experience to the point I uninstalled was going from very high FPS to sudden drops in FPS.

It'd cause a stutter effect and I've extensively read up on it on reddit.

I've tried what I could try, I installed the game through gamepass so editing the .ini isn't an option, as far as I'm aware. I read somewhere that 4 thread CPU just simply isn't enough for NMS, I'm hoping that isn't the case but I'm making this post just to clarify if that's true or not.

Unfortunately, even turning graphical settings to LOW didn't fix it, it seems to occur when the camera is moved to quickly and the CPU doesn't have time to render things correctly which is what causes these crazy 100 fps - 24 fps drops. My specs : i5 6600k @ 4.4GHz OC. 1070 Overclocked. 16 GB's of Ram and the game was installed on an SSD.

has anyone heard the quicksilver bytebeat songs yet? [Discussion]

I'm excited to hear what HG considers worthy of being purchased like that and stored in the other songs section rather than the custom tracks section. I wish I too could give others my music without it taking up their custom slots!

on an unrelated note if you heard an album of 5 or 6 byte beat songs would you prefer them to be shortened to one single end to end play through of about 1 to 1 to 2 minutes, or let each one fully loop twice so favorites can be enjoyed without having to hit repeat as often? basically i have an idea i made 5 further iterations on, in different styles and rhythms, but all accompanied by an overarching melody and locked in E flat minor at 70bpm. its basically one big song because we can only record 8 bytebeats devices to a slot. its a project i actually want to expand upon and make it a shuffle-style set of many "iterations" of this first idea so whatever it shuffles to is still in key and tempo, like a neverending song made of randomized arrangements of its pieces. i had this idea as opposed to trying to turn other peoples bytebeats into legitimate songs made on professional software (not so professional hardware im still college student lolol), basically into whatever genre or style they want. I thought of it like making evolved versions of peoples bytebeats but i dont want to downplay the bytebeats themselves if thats what it would come across as. what are your thoughts? on everything, i went null on this post lol

Hello friends, I started playing NMS when it came to gamepass on my Xbox and have been really enjoying it, but something has been bugging me. When frontiers came out I was very excited to go on and see the new content and play overseer to a settlement, but my game seems exactly the same as before. I was a bit embarrassed to post this because I figured I was just being a dummy and not seeing something or somehow was doing something wrong but now I'm not so sure. I deleted and redownload the game multiple times, still nothing. I still only have the same 5 save slots and have not gotten any quests for settlements. I tried starting new saves and still nothing, what am I doing wrong??

Base in plant with "High Sentinel Activity" [Question]

If I build a base on a planet with high sentinel activity, will the sentinels attack and destroy it? I'm looking to build my first underwater base on some planet with a toxic environment and an appealing color palate. I've found a few good candidates, but they all have a lot of sentinels. Recipe for the perfect space exploration game? [Discussion]

So I've been playing NMS since launch through all the ups and downs and love the game despite the odd issue here and there. Recently I started getting into elite dangerous and I'm loving it so far, scratches the same itch for me as NMS in a lot of ways. But both games have things that at least personally I think could use some work. I'm realizing though that a lot of the things that I dislike or feel are missing from one game I actually like or are done well in the other.

I am by no means a game developer and have no idea how or if it would work, but I can't be the only one that thinks the combination of Hello Games more creative side/style/planet generation and Frontier Dev's "do the basics right first" attitude and attention to detail and realism would make for a fantastic space game.

Need Help with expired Expedition (#2) [Question]

I'm using a modified .json file to replay the old expeditions and get the unlocks that I missed the first time around. (explained at https://github.com/chrisn1992/NMS-Offline-Expedition#readme)

My issue: The Aviator miletone is bugged (known issue) and according to the steam discussion page, a workaround is changing the value for ^Disy_Fly in your PlayerStateData but I can't find it (I got the mentioned save editor). Can't find abandoned system... [Question]

I've been stuck on ONE objective for the Pathfinders expedition for 2 days. It's the "Lost in Space" one, where you have to find an abandoned system. I have been jumping, and jumping, and jumping. I have been using my economy scanner to look for one star economy systems, and I've had to refuel my hyperdrive TWICE already from so many jumps. I use 2% fuel per jump. This is just stupid, and this whole expedition had been FULL of dumb tasks like this.

In my hundreds of hours of play, I've only ever ran into a handful of abandoned systems, and they want me to fucking find one ON COMMAND? It could take me 1 jump, or 1000 jumps.

First time Expeditions player looking for advice [Question]

So, I skipped the Expeditions the first time around. Was happy to see them get recycled. My issue is, I've been trying to warp to the 5th rendezvous point for 4 hours over the last 2 days. Is this normal? Seems very tedious and excessive. Seems like I'm simply circling the center of the galaxy? I'm following the path, but surely I shouldn't have to fill my fully upgraded warp drive approximately 15 times to find it? Thoughts? Advice? I'm about to the point of going back to my regular save.

Can't interact with portals [Question]

I used the portal at the last rendezvous to go a section of the galaxy I knew was unexplored. I then used a space station teleporter to go back to the initial system of the expedition. When I got to the portal on that planet, it seems totally inert. The pedestal does not pop up like usual. I then warped back to the last rendezvous system and the portal at the rendezvous is also completely inert. What is going on? Why can't I interact with either of these portals?

Just a quick Expedition #1 Pioneers guide [Information]

Hello there! No Man's Sky is letting us replay old expeditions, each one lasting two weeks.

There are 7 days left for expedition #1, which rewards you with the Golden Vector spaceship, streamlined jetpack unit and the Golden First Spawn Battle Mask.

These rewards are unique to each expedition so it is worth getting them. Who knows if we will get another chance.

Few things to note: Phases and milestones can be done in any order. Under menu and expedition you can seeh each phase, milestone and potential rewards. Finishing all milestones in a phase gives you one extra reward.

Expeditions are started as a new game then select expedition. Some people can do all five phases in a few hours. For some reason it took me about 12 hours, although I did mess around a bit and avoided using other player bases to accumulate required items.

The main ship, jetpack and mask rewards can be used on all game saves. You just need to summon the Anomaly, then go inside and chat to the Quicksilver vendor. Select the reward you want to unlock and enjoy.

*** Phase 1 ***

First steps: Reach your starship. Use the visor and/or look for a ship icon on screen. Along the way you should collect resources as you need to repair your ship.

Lift off: Leave the planet and head off into space. To take off, you need to fix the pulse drive and launch thrusters. Scan objects to find what you need.

Condensed carbon can be refined using the Portable Refiner (split the stack of carbon as you need some separate for fuel).

Di-hydrogen is used to make Di-hydrogen jelly. The rest is just found in nearby objects.

Interstellar You need to use the hyperdrive to travel to another system. Open the galaxy map and travel along the expedition rendez vous route.

Homecoming You can do this later but it does not matter. Land on a planet you like, deploy a base computer and make a basic...

Very new player here, should I give the expeditions a shot or would it be too confusing/hard? [Question]

As the title says, I have only a few hours in the game (made it to a space station in my first playthrough). I've seen a lot of talk about the expeditions coming back and wondered if it's possible to complete them with very little game experience, or if I should play some more in my main save to get the hang of things? Since the expeditions are time sensitive I'd rather not miss them if possible, but if I'm just going to struggle through them I'd rather wait and miss out on the first few. I'm looking forward to playing the game regardless, and would appreciate any feedback on the best way forward.

Help with shopping for haulers wanted [Question]

Okay so for the past day and a half, ive gone around 2500 LY to every t2 and t3 gek system i can find to find the perfect color and config for the hauler i want. Im new to game about 55-60 hours maybe. But my question is, do i keep hunting OR should i just complete 12 more glyphs and use this guys post that has 51 diff hauler designs, and happens to be in the euclid galaxy where im at. I have 210m credits ready to burn, and did find my first exotic along the way. I understand it would cost around 1B to 48 slot it out.

If glyphs is your answer, i understand the symbols. But the guys coords are listed as alpha numeric, like TIGU:0987:6789 and such. Would i even be able to use his coords at a portal. I did use it once for the artemis missions, and ran to my ship 500u away, so i do have basic comprehension. Ty for any help

Does anyone know a good tutorial on how to setup an AI mine? How do you go beyond 4 extractors without getting hit with diminishing returns? Also, I keep my silos separate from each other's supply lines, however I continue to run into a problem where after a day or two of correct operation they all mesh into one pot and I never cross up supply lines. What gives?

I love this game! But my god some features frustrate me [Question]

Ive just come back to the game after a several year break and I'm loving it. I thoroughly enjoyed going through the expedition. I've now completed it and wanted to try my hand with the new settlements. I've spent the last couple hours searching for the perfect planet to start on. Finally found what I liked the look of, got myself a settlement chart, flew down to the planet and OH WAIT, the chart shows me a settlement on the super critical planet next door. GREAT, just where I'd like a settlement. Now I cant plot another one?

Is there even anyway of knowing if there are settlements on my planet without flying around it for hours? Why can't we just plot a route on our actual planet of choice

Pioneers Revisited [Discussion]

Just finished off pioneers because I missed it the first time around.

Let’s just say, I’m happy to have done this one instead of the original. Going over the milestones, and I can’t imagine the time it would have taken to do them all.

Have you ever had a lucky restart? [Discussion]

On my first save, someone in anomaly gave me full inventories of those ai valves and I had way too much money from then on. It sort of ruined the game, in some small way, because earning stuff on your own gives you something to do.

When they relaunched expeditions I did the whole thing this last weekend, and fell in love with starting over. After finishing it, it inspired me to start a new normal save and not accept help from anyone. In my second system there were ancient bones, but aggressive sentinels. I decided to only farm enough to afford a modest A class fighter and move to my third system.

Upon arrival I scanned the first planet and although it’s a freezing cold one, the sentinels aren’t aggressive and it has ancient bones. There’s also a beautiful paradise planet right outside the space station exit.. so even though the economy is only level 2, I decided to stay a bit and make it home. As a last bonus, the space station has four travelers.. I’ve never seen so many in one location before. Finding 5 glyphs in 3 systems is a great start 🙂

A few questions about expeditions. [Question]

Question 1. Will I need to do a new save for every 1 of the 4 expeditions coming this week?

Question 2. If not, would it make the most sense to then just continue from the expeditions save and replace my main save if I only have about 10 hours invested?

Question 3. What and how can I transfer between saves?

Is there a definitive guide for tweaking vr on pc to be playable? I'm tired of adjusting things without knowing what they actually do. [Question]

My steamvr framecounts go into the red and when you look around, it's like the computer can't keep up and the image because a flat rectangle for a second. This is on an oculus quest 2. The best result I've had so far is with turning steamvr resolution/sampling to auto and dialing my oculus app resolution and refresh rate as low as it will go. All in-game graphics settings are set to minimum, if I try and bump them up I just get worse performance. This is on a ryzen 3500x with 16gb ram and a 3070.

Found a wack a mole creature. [Question]

My recoding wasn't responding at the time when I found it. The creature resembled Sid from Ice Age and would pop in and out of the ground. I was able to get close to try and interact with it but no prompt came up.

So I started blasting. It ran, ofcourse, popping in and out of the ground. As it's buldging eyes bobbled further away I lost track of it. Has anyone else come across something similar?

Not getting all materials back when canceling moving a structure? [Question]

After not playing in a long time, I decided to see if the game would let me move one of my exocraft stations onto an actual floor. Last time I played it would not allow me to do that.

So I went into the new edit menu and select "move". I saw that it would let me move it, but I wanted to replace the floor first, so I canceled out of the selection expecting the station to be right where I left it; however, it apparently just decided to leave it unconstructed, instead.

But I do not think I got all of my materials back. The refund pushed me over the max stack size, and it did not create another pile in my inventory, so the excess was apparently lost.

Is that normal?

I have to kill some sentinels and honestly I’ve never died so I get super nervous about it, is it easy just to fly back down to where I died and get my stuff back? How will I know where it all is?

Upgrading a multi-tool vs buying one (S-class) [Question]

So, I got my Golden Vector from the expedition and now i'm renewed in playing my normal save and playthrough. One of the things I liked in expedition 1 was the S class multi tool, which I do not have on the main playthrough - just an A class.

I see that it costs 50k nannites to upgrade class; what WOULD that do to the MT if I used it? Does anyone know how an 'upgraded' MT compares to a native S-class one?

NMS made me quit R6 Siege [Screenshot]

My missus got me into NMS, been playing R6: Siege since the beta 6 years ago nearly everyday and haven't played in 2 months (the longest I haven't even thought about loading up Siege).

Been on the Activated Indium farm train and picked up my first Exotic a few days ago, took me a while to know how to actully play it but I love it.
