Can I build near other players? [Question]

Hello!

I'm a new player and total noob. I'm currently obtaining all the glyphs and using a list that I found in a youtube video. On all those planets, there's many player bases scattered around and I'm wondering whether those people are playing together or just built near each other.

Are there any drawbacks to building near / on the same planet as other players? Can they destory my base or steal anything? Should I look for an empty planet?

Debating buying and playing [Question]

Love space games, I’ve been playing elite dangerous for a couple of years now. I’m interested if I can become a biologist, basically can I role play like that and conduct experiments/log data as a biologist? I don’t have the elite version where you can land on planets and walk on them, so this may be a great pivot. Any advice/experience?

Struggling with Exploration Guide quest for settlements [Question]

Came back to NMS after 2 years of absence.

Having a blast so far.

I'm currently on my first settlement quests. Particularly the one where I have to explore and discover 6 animals, 23 plants and 17 minerals.

The thing is that on my discoveries tab, it would seem that there is only 17 flora to be discovered. Is it intentended ? Is this quest not doable on this planet ? Am I missing something ?

Do you need the ancient bones to finish the expedition? [Discussion]

I still have the 16 ancient bones from the expedition. If any of you is rushing to finish it before it ends, I can give them to you. It was honestly the last and most annoying part of it for me.

I also set up a base on a planet with ancient bones. It is called Ancient Bones - Archeology Site if you ever see it in a portal.

What’s the deal with the free freighter at 5 warps? [Question]

I’m so confused because Im watching videos on it but all of the freighters in the videos ive watched are different from the 3 types I’m being offered by the 3 races. Are the 3 I’m seeing the only ones I can get? Can you still find S class freighters using the method of reloading an auto save and redoing your 5th warp? I’m only finding A classes whenever I go to the 3 star galaxy. Thank you guys so much!!

Are my specs enough for VR? [Question]

I just got a PC and I have an oculus quest 2, and I'm curious whether or not my PC is good enough to run it well, as in with low settings at about 30fps at the very least. I have a GeForce GTX 1660, at least 16gigs of ram, and I'm not sure if this matters or if it helps, I still don't understand what everything means, but a B450M DS3H Motherboard. Tell me if there are any more important things I need to look at and where I could find them, the PC I got was a used one from someone who got it used from someone who built it and didn't tell them the Specs.

Old Mineral Deposits [Question]

Back in the old days of NMS, mineral deposits used to be these really cool looking floating rocks, which I absolutely loved. Something I Wish I Knew When I Started Playing NMS [Information]

I've seen a couple of other Redditers post some early game tips, so I figured I'd add something I wish I'd know early game too.

When you mine out deposits with the terrain manipulator, the AOE of the terrain manipulator controls how much of a resource a deposit will yield; if your AOE is small the deposit will yield a lot of resources, if your AOE is large it will yield only a few. And you can change the AOE size (with LB/RB on Xbox) whenever you want.

Hidden base [Question]

Hi, I wanted to play along with my friend, he joined my session however when he wanted to use the teleport from the space station to my base he reported it (making the base invisible to him) and it disappeared from the teleport. He flew to my base (with a spaceship) and actually can't see it. How to fix it?

New OFFLINE QS Glitch on Console. [Information]

Not sure if anyone else has found this yet, but you can get nigh limitless quicksilver during weekend missions by replaying the mission. All you have to do is complete the mission as normal, then buy something with quicksilver, leave the anomaly, and 'quit' your game session at console level (the "quit" function from the xbox menu, for instance). Then when you restart the game and reload your save you can do the mission again for 1200 more quicksilver (you keep the quicksilver you spent and earned during the previous steps). Hope some of you find this useful. Warning: this method will automatically set the weekend mission system as your "home system", so be sure you can get back to where you where before doing this.

I’ve recently started no many sky and I’ve not got a very good ship. Add low orbit bases to No Man's Sky? [Suggestion]

Wouldn't that be cool? A low orbit base that you can build and like idk, add solar panels and stuff for energy or something. Basically your own ISS that you can customize like you can on regular bases.

Trying to play VR, but it is completely unplayable, sub 10 fps, terrible latency. VP2 [Question]

Hey all, I LOVE no man's sky. I actually pre ordered it on PS4 and LOVED it when it came out. I don't usually pre-order but had a TON of PSN credits as a credit card reward. I also have NMS on Steam on my PC. I have tried to run it in VR and it is completely unplayable, looking for suggestions.

I have a bunch of VR games and haven't had any issues aside from NMS. I load the game through SteamVR like I would any other. The menu works fine, the loading screen flying through thr galaxy seems to flow fine, takes quite a long time to load it feels, but I haven't tried it in a long time on a monitor, I will need to do that to compare.

Once I hit the planet, everything loads in, and it APPEARS to be fine with a super low frame rate, and huge delay with using thrusters, over a second delay at times. Another issue is while my field of view loads, if I move my view around even just a little bit, that original view remains loaded and I see the new area is just all black for like 2 seconds. I get motion sick as it is and need to take dramamine to play VR, this is like projectile vomit inducing levels of nausea from the horrible performance from less than 2 minutes of play. I have gone through the menu and turned everything to the lowest possible setting and it makes no difference.

Is this a common issue?

I am fairly new to VR (got Vive Pro 2 ay launch, no previous headsets), so I am not even sure what else to check or change. All my other games I have tried thus far I don't notice any lag or performance issues...

Devs can add a building device that hold a companion in a radius [Discussion]

Which allow players to attach a companion similar to leashing your pet to a fence where they just stay there (maybe the leash its invisible).

If anyone played Starbound, theres an item called tethered pod where you put your pet (in a pokemon style pokeball) and it stay stay there until you pick it up.

Has anyone else built their base on a terrible world on accident [Discussion]

I found a shit planet that has storms every 30 seconds while trying to make an AI farm. Mine isn’t even a good one, I got 8 miners on a hill.

But I just kept thinking, well I need a landing place, and a teleporter. May as well add some way to sell and a few walls. Well shit, I got a building, may as well add some storage…..actually a couple greenhouses would work since I can connect them and ignore for 300 degree weather

I've built a solar panel connected to a battery, and the solar panel tells me its producing 50kPs. However when I connect it to the teleporter, it tells me there's insufficient power. Should I build more solar panels and connect them to each other? Would that produce more power?

How do you all find perfect planets with blue water? [Question]

Hii,

I've been warping for days in eissentam to find a (preferably) green grass planet with blue water. I only run into either orange planets (orange water or grass) or red ones. I'm targeting yellow star systems with 3 stars. I have also noticed that on some planets that share the same code, no storms accur. I'm writing down every system I go to and so far I've noticed that "F6f" has less storms compared to " G6f" for example.

Does someone have tips for me on how to find the perfect planet ?

Hello I am confused! [Question]

Hello I am trying to run the vr version through Microsoft store so I turn on steam vr then I go to the Microsoft store hit play and the no it gives me the option to run in vr or not and I click the option to run in vr and then the sound is the only thing that is transferring to the headset! If you have any insight as to why it’s doing this and if there is a solution please comment on this post! (I am on an oculus quest 2 connecting to pc through link)

Tired of waiting for a PS5, considering Xbox Series X or S, any guidance? Open to suggestions? [Question]

Can I get the super nice high resolution with the X or S? I have a 4K tv. This is the main reason I'm wanting a PS5, but I'm really tired of waiting and I don't want to spend the outrageous prices for one.

Question about the current base building limit [Question]

Is it truly just one item = one item? With the old complexity limit a circular prefab was equal to something like 4 cuboid rooms, so it more or less evened out in the overall limit based on the space you would have. With the new limit it seems like the large prefabs are the "most efficient" to use. Is that the case?

What do people spend their money on? [Question]

Fairly new player here. I played for about three weeks at release and got back into the game a few weeks ago. I followed a guide to get a decent amount of initial units. I now have a heavily upgraded S-Class fighter, all of my exosuit slots, etc. And at 300 million units.

I've seen videos about earning 1 billion units an hour or farms that make tons of iridium, etc. What would you do with all of those units or iridium? I know I have not even begun to fully explored the game, but, I have not found anything yet that would require that much money.

Im trying to complete the mission "Expanding The Base" where the objective is to "Hire a base Armourer". I've read about some people having problems with this mission aswell. But mine is different. Because i have a "ping" to where i have a potentional Armourer but when i enter the space station it says i have to go outside of the space station and when i go outside i need to go back inside and so on. Excited to finish the current expedition only to realize that I missed the third expedition… Ugh. [Discussion]

I started the current expedition last night in an effort to finish it before the event ends. I’ve got a trophy room going in my freighter and I was looking forward to having a complete set of stickers for all of the expeditions. I finished the current expedition a few minutes ago only to notice that I don’t have the sticker for a cartographer’s expedition. After expedition #2 I stepped away from the game for a bit because I got tired of waiting on the next expedition and apparent I missed #3. When was that one anyway? Was it any good? Either way it looks like my trophy room will have a gaping hole now. Ugh…

Looking for help finding a squid ship [Question]

Finding the social aspect of this game unusual. [Question]

I think I'd quite like to play with others! And I don't know if I'm just being socially awkward as per real life but aside from some brief encounters doing nexus missions I've found interacting with others kinda, well, weird.

A few times joined a system with others and typed hello but no reply. Once did go check out the galactic hub system, built a bit of a base. At some point someone came and did an emote at me repeatedly but I didn't understand. By the time I'd figured out an emote to use back they had gotten in their ship and left, no words shared. In another system two people landed near the base I was building and then flew off. And the only other noteworthy interaction I had was building a base and then EXPLOSIONS EVERYWHERE. I look up and someone is just shooting all their ships weapons at me but I have PvP turned off. Which is a point, didn't know this was a pvp by default game until my first ever nexus mission where someone just started shooting at me unprompted - fortunately I jetpacked away without much issue and figured out how to turn pvp off.

In other games I join a guild or a discord because I'm invited but it seems like if I want to play with others (having no friends who play NMS much at all) I need to invite myself to groups and things, like census' for the hub or empires or what have you. Is that right? Just not used to it this way really and I'm always wary about joining online groups/guilds/etc blind.

Are random interactions in NMS always this weird?

Wow, how did I sleep on this game? [Discussion]

Someone tell me if it's a honeymoon period, but I am about 10 hours in and gotten to the anomaly...

I purchased this game years ago and could never get through the first hour, I thought.. this is dumb, go around smacking rocks for resources. I did not know there was so much to explore, build, do, etc.

I still have my starter ship and realized you can get bigger/better ships... what prompted this was my purchase of Astroneer and absolutely became addicted to that game in seconds. Someone said to try NMS again, as it was basically Astroneer 5.0, man... I am thoroughly enjoying this.

But I want to hear from you guys, since there isn't really any real 'goal' and everything is pretty much randomly generated, giving you rewards for exploration and stuff which I like - I assume the 'end game' is basically just setting up multiple bases around the universe and exploring planets, etc?

Another thing, I'd really love to find and interact with other players... I saw some at the anomaly, but do people build big bases/civilizations together? Like are there groups of players out there who really expand a planet and play together? If so, how do I find these people or planets?

I'd also love some other tips! I found some abandoned ship which was broken down, but it had so many slots on it and cost-wise was worth WAY more than my starter ship. I didn't want to 'swap' to that ship because it wasn't functioning and I assume I would lose mine... what do I do with this ship I found abandoned and not working?

ANY OTHER TIPS would be greatly appreciated! I hope it's not a honeymoon period but after 10 hours I know if I am done with a game or not, and I feel I have barely scratched the surface here.

Sad [Suggestion]

Imagine this, you went through a tough week of life you've been a bit sick but hey it's Saturday. You have a small breakfast. Then you think "I might just play some No Man's Sky, it's been a while I should go complete that expedition to get the Dune worm pet since I'm such a fan of Dune and would love to have the Fremen Sand Rider experience now and then."

So you boot up your PS4 which is showing its age, unfortunately, it's been a year since it came out but the PS5 is still unavailable in your area. You get in your expedition save and what's that? One day left? What? I'm in phase 2 of 5? Oh no.

Hours later it's 11:59 PM you're almost there... you just need to find a fucking archive, you remember seeing one once in this expedition but you can't find it. The map RNG keeps fucking you over. And then... it's too late. You're too tired to go on. So you turn off the PS4 and give up. Then you crawl to your bed, open up your laptop and complain about it on Reddit.

WHY DOES HG DO THIS IT'S UNFAIR I SHOULDN'T STRESS ABOUT TIME MANAGEMENT IN A VIDEO GAME! JUST MAKE ALL THE EXPEDITIONS AVAILABLE ALL THE TIME AND IT WOULD BE NO DIFFERENT I WOULDN'T MIND A CHANCE TO GET A GOLDEN SHIP AND THE NORMANDY!

Getting spammed with settlement notifications in a particular system [Bug]

There's a system I went to (address: 0AE3:0098:0409:0102) and the moment I came out of the portal I got "Planetary Settlement Discovered" and the whole music thing. However, when I closed the notification thing it came up again. And again. The only way that I can play the game in this system is by running to my ship, closing the notification and getting in before it comes back again. It doesn't play while I'm in my ship, but when I exit my ship on any planet in the system it starts again. I've tried exiting and re-entering the system through both the portal and base terminus inside other players' bases. It only happens in that system, no other.

Sound problems on PS4 [Question]

i’ve been experiencing sound issues on PS4 recently. if i send the console to sleep, i have no sound in NMS when waking it up again. either i have to completely turn it off, or when waking it up from sleep start a different game and then go back to NMS to get the sound back on.

Network problem [Question]

Im on ps4 and every time i open the network tab in the menu, an error box appears saying "no connection to matchmaking services" i have no idea why this happens. My buddy is also on ps4 and is having no problems, sees people in the anomaly, etc. (We both live in the same area so it cant be a regional network problem) I know its not a network problem on my end because im in a party chat with him. Ive tried reloading auto saves, restart the game, restarting my ps4, turning internet on and off. Nothing. If any one knows a salution it would be super helpful.

Bought this game digitally on PS4 in 2017 but never really played that much (for obvious reasons).

Mining Question [Question]

So I found my first S Activated Indium hotspot and I noticed when I placed storage depots they only store 1,000 items each. However I have been to several other indium Fanta people have built and their storage depots hold WAY more than 1,000. I go to one where each storage depot holds 60,000. What am I missing. An option to pick a spot on the galaxy to check out would be great. Soo tired of zipping around the stars for 5-10 mins just to accidentally tap the wrong button and loose my progress. [Discussion]

You know those bright spots on the little galaxy cloud map? (that shows your current location. Not your current star system)

I want to check those out. Same with the dark spots near the core.

So done with flying around trying to navigate through the stars manually.

Question on auto popping trophies [Question]

So, back when I got my trophies for reaching the center of the galaxy for survival, permadeath, and visiting another base, I did that while visiting another player's world who had only been a jump or so away from the center. After the trophies popped, I didn't save at the time because I didn't want to carry over his state and start in a new galaxy. I'm wondering, if upload and download my PS4 data to the PS5 version, will those 3 trophies auto pop as well since I did get them? Or will I have to do those 3 all over again since none of my saves have saved data after acquiring them the first time? As is, the only proof I ever completed them is the fact that I have the trophies; nothing on my saves has it.

Returning PS4 Player Here. What on Earth Happened to the Draw Distance in This Game? [Question]

So I've owned No Man's Sky on PS4 since launch, but I stopped playing 3 years ago. Decided to get back into it yesterday to check out all the major content updates I missed. I've played for a few hours and so far am loving the massively improved graphics and gameplay mechanics, quality of life features like being able to upgrade and scrap ships instead of being forced to trade them, immersion systems like seeing NPCs actually walking around on the planet's, improved UI for things like base building.

There's only one issue, and it's a pretty huge one... draw distances are so low and objects are constantly popping into existence right in front of me! I can't fly around low to the ground on my starting planet because I keep running into invisible trees, and if I fly above the tree line then the entire world just looks like a barren wasteland because nothing loads in. Even when I'm walking around on foot I keep running into invisible rocks and stuff that don't pop into existence until I'm right on top of them.

I know the render distance was never amazing, but I don't remember it ever being this bad when I played 3 years ago. Is it possible to increase the render distance in any way on PS4? This is really impacting my enjoyment of the game.

AntiMatter Housing "Exploit?" [Question]

Hi there,

I'm new to No Man's Sky.

Me and My Partner playing it as a great downtime activity - having loads of fun.

Three Bugs we encountered / exploits and wanted to hear from you more experienced on what the deal with them are.

  1. Partner can not use the Warp Gates to access bases she has visited and has built a Base Computer on (admittedely deleted base computer after).

Currently we work around this by not using the space station warp gate and access via the Anomoly Gate - not a biggy as we use the Nexus lots.

  1. It seems that when you Exchange a Ship in the Space Station - you are able to "Claim for Free" your existing ship. Doing this there and then lets you access the Salvage Menu/Station of the currently reclaimed for free ship.

If you choose to claim it but not Salvage it and then go back into your NEW ship, when you later try to access the Old ship you "Free Reclaimed", it will bug out in terms of not displaying the ship nor letting you select it.

I currently have a ship I can not select in the Other Ship menu - it's not a biggy, I don't "want" to access it now it has dawned on me it 100% is not a game feature as it makes zero sense economically. But why is that even a thing.

  1. The Strangest thing is this : Is there any reason why you can go to a Trade Terminal and Purchase Ferite Dust (anyone else have an in-joke of calling it Ferret Dust, if you don't nows the time lol) and Oxygen, then make a ton of Anti Matter Housings and sell it back for a profit of around +50% (e.g 5000 in, 7500 out). Takes all of about 60 seconds to do.

Just seems odd, I'm sure to far along players it is chump change, but just seemed odd to churn something like that so easily.

No mans sky stuttering [Question]

I played nms for a long time now and never had any performance issues. Then the game suddenly started to stutter every secound. I have a RTX 3070 and a Ryzen 5 3600 and I can play most of the games I own on max settings and as I said I also could play No mans sky with Ultra settings. I already tried setting everything to low and then back but that didnt work. Not sure what else to do and how to proceed. Nvidia Drivers are latest/up to date. Hey everyone, I'm thinking of streaming No Man's Sky and using a new account to keep my other online identity separate from my streaming one. I've already progressed through most of the game with my other account however so I was thinking of using mods to catch this new account up to my old one. Can I be banned for using any mods to do this?

Also, do you recommend any mods? Not just ones that I could use for catching up but any in general. If you recommend any please make sure the results of whatever they do can be seen by other non-modded players. I try to interact with my viewers regularly so it would be inconvenient if one of them joined me and something appeared radically different between us.

I've noticed an interesting thing happening with diplos [Bug]

I'm fairly new to the game, so I'm especially lucky that one of the first planets I've discovered has diplos on it. However, I've found an issue. Whenever I tame a diplo, it's neck shrinks slightly, and it's shoulders become less arched. I've already put this on the bug thread, but to be honest I'm not sure if it's a bug, or actually just an obscure feature of creature taming I'm unaware of.

Should i start a new character? [Question]

I played this game alot about a year ago but i got board of it as there wasn't much to do back then and i already achieved limitless wealth via a activated indium farm. My fist account has 260+ hours in it and i know that's not much time compared to other who play the game but the time gap between the last time i played it and how much has been added since i last played the game makes me want to start over. On the other hand if i do start over it's going to be SOOOO MUCH GRINDING. This is pretty much my only aprihension.

Distress signal but no ship? [Question]

I just started playing again after a four month break, installed the update and started scanning for distress signals. Every time I get there (four times so far) there's a shadow on the ground and the distress beacon indicates that there should be a ship, but no ship is available.

Can't launch through steam [Question]

Hey guys I recently attempted to try playing again and everytime I try launching the game it just doesn't open. The process will pop up and then quickly disappear within a few seconds.

Here's what I've already tried: Running nms.exe as admin running nms.exe in compatibility mode verify file integrity complete reinstall disable antivirus and firewall deleted the game's cache folder in %appdata% attempted drive rollback for graphics

None of these worked and I don't use any mods. My specs are: i7-9700f, RTX 2070 (driver 496.76), 32gb of ram, running on a 2 tb m.2 drive.

Anyone have any ideas on what could help? I tried checking if there was any files that contained a log for errors but no such luck.

Newbie question - What are Expeditions? [Question]

Probably not the best time to ask this question, as an Expedition is coming to an end today but hey - another one's comming someday, right?

I'm not that new to the game - I've got something like 100h in. But because I work quite much I rarely have time to play, so I don't know a lot of things that I probably should by this point.

So what I understand, Expeditions are like seasonal missions, right? And they are done... on a separate save? What are the perks? Is some of the loot available on the main save? Or is it solely to play "from scratch"?

Please, explain them to me like to a child. I've tried reading NMS Wiki or looking for something on yt but most of the material are done for someone who knows at least something, and not explaining the basics. Sorry, if that's too... newbie.

How to travel the fastest? [Question]

I've been playing No Man's Sky off and on for a while, my current game is in Creative mode and I want to build on a planet that nobody has been on before. Trouble is I'm in a pretty populated part of Euclid galaxy so it's getting difficult to find new territories.

Is there any way to get to the galactic core faster than hopping from system to system? I've had some good luck with black holes, but then one yote me pretty far away from the core again :( so is there a way to get there faster?

Friends sees different planetary features [Question]

So I'm playing on Steam and friend is playing on the Windows store, but they see different things than I do when on planets. An example was that they couldn't see a bunch of Gravitino Balls that I could, but could see Metal Fingers that were Venom Sacs for me. They've also never had the same weather as me, or sometimes even the same environment. While I was burning to death collecting Activated Copper, they were having a stroll through the park on a lovely day looking at normal copper. My other two friends on Steam don't have this issue.

Game wont launch - steam, windows 10 [Question]

I am having this error, wondering if anyone else is. I click play on steam, the button turns blue(open), it asks me if I want normal or VR, and then after a few seconds the button that changed to blue goes back to green(play).

I was playing this morning fine. I didnt do anything to my computer other than leave it on and doing nothing for a few hours and then the error started happening.

So far Ive: reinstalled the Visual C++ Redistributal, Reinstalled the game entirely, restarted the computer, restarted steam, launched steam in administrator mode, made sure nms has access to the firewall, lanuched nms.exe as an adminstrator, tried opening in compatibility mode, verified integrity of game files via steam properties.

Other games launch fine on steam. I am at a loss. Has anyone else experienced this?

Questions about linking technologies [Question]

Hello, picked up this game lately and I'm having a blast. Some beginner questions that I couldn't find the answer on google. When you put technologies next to each other for synergy, does it matter if multiple ones are touching or not? I mean if I arrange them in a single line, is it the same as if I arrange them in a square? My multitool is full of technologies, how can I rearrange them for synergy? There's no more empty slots so I can't move anything. Is there a way to say: "please switch those 2 technologies" or to do it without the need of a third empty slot to use as temporary position? When I try linking a new tech to existing synergy, I get a message that it overloaded because of too many linked tech. If I put that tech in its own isolated storage, does it still take effect (without bonus of course)? Or my only use for it is to dismantle and sell it since the tech link is full?

Haven't played this game in years, heard there are great updates. Is there a new story hook to make up for the lackluster travel to the center of the galaxy hook? [Question]

I was really disappointed finding out what happens when you reach the center of the galaxy, which was a big driving force to keep exploring for me. It was a goal for me to keep going but upon seeing what happens I dropped the game and haven't played since. This was when it first came out.

So with the new updates has a new hook been implemented? A goal of you will to reach for and a reason to explore these worlds for more than just the sake of exploring. It's not enough for me yo just find new planets with tweaked character models, that alone will bore me fast.

I don't two shits if the korvax decided to make a settlement in an active volcano on the most hostile planet in the sector with an average temperature of 300 celcius. I don't care if they need help because they have the decision making skills of a potato. I just searched 8 times for a settlement and all 8 times they were off planet. I'm on a paradise planet and there's no reason there wouldn't be multiple settlements on it.

Like really how hard is this to fix?

The atmosphere harvesters I pop down at my bases are just empty when I return, even though they had fuel when I left. :'( (This was not the case a few years ago, I used to use them all the time!) ... Can’t complete delivery mission [Question]

I’m at the point where I’m supposed to talk to the mission agent. Instead of completing the mission, it just babbles something and I’m told that it has an expression of fear and surprise. Is there supposed to be "order" to the way I navigate galaxies? Or, is it just like "do whatever, go anywhere, find stuff, have fun"? [Question]

I was under the impression that I should follow specific galaxy paths pertaining to specific missions or storylines, but is it ok or reversible if I go through a portal and get transported to a far off galaxy? Or if I just explore random galaxies? Will I be drifting away from a necessary storyline? Is it smart or worthwhile to build bases away from the main storylines galaxy path?

Ethernet gets disabled [Bug]

Yes. My wired or even wireless windows 11 ethernet connection gets disabled when Nms shows me the prompt "matchmaking with cross-platform players" I can see other players for a while only.

Then o All of them dissappear and surprise there is no internet so I went to "view network computers and devices" and I can see that the connection media state is disabled.

Now the internet provider router is just fine other devices are connected and stable.

I would be unable to reconnect this PC to the internet unless is restarted so I try again and the same happens. When I have been playing online with no issues with the exact same hardware no changes of any kind. The game is running through the Xbox game pass app and other games run smoothly like FH 4 and 5 both online.

This is strange indeed, why a game would disable my ethernet connection and make impossible to enable?

No Man's Sky crashing immediately (Xbox App Launch on PC) [Question]

Hey All,

I have NMS through the game pass for PC and have been playing with no issues for the last week or so. Today I went to launch the game and it's crashing immediately upon launch with no error message or code. I see the process launching in Task Manager and closing about a second later. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, to different drives even. I've updated my graphics drivers as well and still no dice.

Tried looking around Google and none of the solutions are relevant/seem to work. Any advice?

How to leave a settlement and join a new one? [Question]

Fellow travelers,

Does anyone know how to leave a current settlement and join a new one? I've managed to turn around my first settlement, cleared its debts and made it an S class one. But it's on a desert planet with aggressive sentinels, so I went searching for a new one.

I found a one in the system of my home base. But every NPC I talk to does not give the option to become an Overseer. And it doesn't seem like there is an option for me to leave my current one.

Wanted to ask the hive mind to see if there is a solution to this.

Capital Freighter battles not triggering [Question]

Hi everyone

I'm having issues getting capital Freighter battles to spawn. I have 50+ hours of gameplay and have done hundreds of warps, so suspect it's not the 3 hour/5 warp issue. I am using my spaceship to warp (using the galaxy map) between occupied systems only. Yesterday I spent a couple of hours continuously warping around the galaxy trying to trigger the battles and only succeeded once (where the freighter was a 'Kermit the Frog' green :( )

Is there anything else which could be impacting the battles to spawn? Would love to get an S-Class Freighter at some point soon!

Your favorite way to get money? (Non-glitch) [Question]

I’ve seen people on YouTube do the chlorine and salt thing in the refinery. But I think my favorite is the salvageable scrap and ancient bones method. I found a nice non hostile and flat planet with ancient bones and I usually get 11 million every 30 min of mining. Is there a better way I don’t know about?

Things they need to fix for permadeath... [Discussion]

I flew up in the air with my jetpack to look at something in the horizon. When I came down I was one shot dead. I wasn't even at full height with the jetpack. I just feel like that shouldn't be a thing.

Another time I went down a hill. Maybe it would've been 4ft in rl, I died. I've died that way several times.

Dialog in the game? [Question]

I was just playing though the whole thing again. Just finishing up the whole "Star Seed" questline when a thought occurred to me...

What's the point of all the dialog with the various races?

It takes SO LONG to get enough words to make it even semi-possible to understand anything, by the time you get enough words to get the jist of what's trying to be said, you've long since gotten past all that.

For example, the star seed line. There are likely hundreds of Atlas words. AFAIK, the only way to get the words is during the questline. And by the time you get enough words to know what its saying, the questline is over. So, what's the point?

If you spend a hundred hours on a single playthrough, you MIGHT be able to get enough words to understand the Gek, Korvak, and Vykeen vendors... but everyone in all the questlines will forever be impossible to understand. So, what's the point?

Has anyone ever understood ANY dialog in any of them? Ever? (Without cheating that is...)

Help for a long time player who sucks! [Question]

Apologies, but I can't find a solution to this one issue. Every time I land anywhere, stations, capitol ship, trading posts, any ship that is there immediately takes off and leaves. I'm 100+ hours into my game, I "beat" the Atlas path, and I can't ever find a cool ship to buy. I have 100m in credits burning a hole in my pocket! Is there a way to address this issue on PS5?

Also, I have no idea how to get to the center of the galaxy. I have the cadmium(sp?) drive and am working on the green one too. I'm like 600,000 light years from the center and when I jump it moves me like 1000-10000 light years closer. I thought my ship had a pretty sweet hyperspace engine, I can jump 5-6 solar systems per jump.

I'm an idiot and feel like I hit a boring cycle in the game. Help is appreciated.

I haven't played the game in a few days. I tried to launch it and I get the following error message.

Issue Warping to the Center (Euclid) [Question]

Hey guys! I tried searching the sub for an answer but it doesn't look like this has been asked before. I'm in permadeath, just reached the last system before the center of Euclid (I can select the center from my galaxy map). Whenever I hilight it it says there is no fuel in the hyperdrive, even though there is definitely at least one warp cell in the drive. Does it need me to have a full hyperdrive or something? Do I need to increase my hyperdrive range? Or is this just a bug that I'll need to try turning it off and back on a few times to randomly fix? Thanks!

And I'm absolutely loving this game! I've gone through a good chunk of the main missions, already "helped" Artemis, and still going. I'm starting to rack up units and looking to farm some material. Gonna go with chlorine as I read it's easier to start with and most likely make my way to some more galaxies.

I have two starships and a freighter, no settlements yet but I'll be on that as well soon, and definitely need to figure out how to find a blueprint or learn the next level drive over Cadmium(?).

Any tips or general direction would be awesome! Am I on the right track?

Total noob here: I was exploring a planet and found and pretty heavily damaged space ship, much larger than the starter ship. [Question]

I was like sweet ill build a base here and work on fixing this ship up and get it back in the skies. So I plopped down a computer and built a little hovel and had to run to the space station to dump inventory. I get back and the ship was gone???? I was bummed put because it was a huge ship worth millions but it had a lot of broken parts and I wanted to fix it.

Also why can't I ever take off from the space station? I always have to take a portal back.

Turning a generic settlement into a real town [Information]

My latest "make your own fun in NMS" project is to make my generic settlement into a proper town. I started by creating a base as close to the settlement as possible so I could build within the town limits. Then I visited each building and decided what it was used for, based on the furnishings and layout. Once I determined the function of each building, I started adding decorations, furnishings, and other details to bring that out. For example, in the manufacturing building I installed my own refiners. The meditation temple gained banners, prayer rugs, and a courtyard with a sculpture. Abosolute limit to base area.... [Information/question]

TLDR; I built out to 1 EM Hotspot and 3 Mineral Hotspots and seem to have reached an absolute limit on base area.

It seems that there is a limit to the base AREA and not just distance from the computer.

Everything I've been able to find indicates that you can build up to 300u from the base computer, and, by standing at those limits, you can build items further out, thus extending the limit up to a total 1000u from the base computer.

After a couple hours searching, I came across what I was looking for. Copper, Silver and Gold on a planet and a shard world to boot!

I find an electro magnetic hotspot, and then proceed to find mineral hotspots around it. Fortunately I found Copper, Silver and gold. sure the hot spot classes are C / B but meh.

I then locate my base as in the middle of these 4 hot spots as I can (read: as I can be bothered) I got it to around 750u away from 2 of the spots and around 450 away from the other two. Proceed to setup my build and extend out to each of the hotspots in turn, starting with the EM Field.

I get the tower put up, and then run a line as long as I can back to my base until I see "connection too long" then I plonk down a battery and connect them up. Then repeat again fromt battery. Simply to cut down on the amount of batteries I need to use.

The gold hot spot actually connects through the EM field.

I follow the same setup at each of the other 2 metal hotspots and connect back at the centerpoint where the base computer is. Everything is being powered and working. As I didn't have the materials to build supply depots, I get the materials and head back. Only.... I realise that I can't build at the sites "Too far from base".... curious...

Thinking that the mineral extrators may not extend the boundaries, I go back to my previous battery and confirm I can build there. I head towards the mineral hotspot until I...

HELP! I cant warp to the eltiensleen core so I can get to eissentam! [Question]

Yes I have full warp fuel, I have the indium, emeral, and cadmium drives installed. im at the star system it wants me to be at to warp, but for some reason the yellow line you use to select the galaxy core isn't showing up, even though I have my destination set to galaxy core.

I started in euclid, and had no problems warping to any galaxy cores before this one. wich sucks because its the last core I need to jump to in order to reach eissentam.

Question about Freighters [Information]

Hi All - I've come back to the game (preorder and loved it despite the challenges) on PC. I've put about 30 hours in after not playing for years, and have really gotten along well.

It's so much better now than it was, even though I loved it.

However - I do not understand freighters (and I crashed economies to get to 1B Units) after buying my first, and then trading up to a much better one.

So my question is this:

How many frigates can I have? I have upwards of 20 or more. I know missions are limited, but is there a point in not having as many as possible?

Follow up question: what is the best way to improve my freighter? I have no idea how to find derelict freighters, or anything I need to improve my current one, which I plan on keeping.

Graphics issues, lots and lots of lag - and all of a sudden. [Question]

So, I played this game a LOT around this same time last year. November/December. I recently picked it back up (about two weeks ago roughly) and I am having MASSIVE performance issues. Specifically, my framerate tanks constantly. My graphics are all set to "Enhanced" and I had them on "High" with no issues prior to recent updates. Do I just need to wait for optimization to happen? I recently saw a post here that if you triple tap the left or right roll button ( A and D) you can do aileron rolls while warping. I figured I'd try it while pulsing instead, which doesn't do anything, but I accidentally learned that if I press A and D simultaneously it would take me out of pulse. It also works to engage the pulse drive. Hold A and D instead of space bar and it engages your pulse drive. Nothing earth shattering really, takes the same amount of time, but I thought it was neat.

What Determines Slots and Rarity of Ships in Stations? [Question]

I'm trying to find a nice S class fighter with a bunch of slots, but I'm having trouble locating anything even close. I have an S class already I'm flying to stations to try and get them to spawn, but having no luck. Does that even determine what you find? I thought I remembered a while back that it was determined by the ship you're currently in. The only downside of the ship I have right now is that it doesn't have much cargo space, so maybe that's influencing it?

Why can't I buy ships all of the sudden after the update I can only exchange? [Question]

I only have 5 ships so I should be able to buy another one . The game since the update will not let me get another ship without trading it. Basically ruining the game for me. The only way to get another ship is stumble upon an empty exotic s class which I have once already but the odds of that happening again are slim to none. Or buy another void egg just to trade the first one off for something else which seems pretty ridiculous if you ask me. I was hoping someone could stear me to an empty starship I can just hop in to fill up my sixth slot. I know that empty working starships still exist in the game they are just really hard to find. Just wondering why in Gods name they did this in the update? Seems like I'd you didn't have every slot full your SOL u til you find and empty working starship.

Questions about an Activated Indium farm [Question]

After some searching I finally found a decent planet to put my first activated indium farm (monochrome planet, low sentinels, high temp with frozen mist weather balances temperature, but does have superheated rainstorms). I found a S yield spot too with an electromagnetic hotspot a little under 300u away. Question is both are in water, is this a problem? I haven't done anything with water yet. An interesting planet [Question]

I've been jumping Galaxies and found a planet in Calypso that is a Flourishing planet with Activated Indium. The most interesting thing about this planet is all the rain or moisture goes up into the atmosphere. The storms do no damage at all and again all the rain goes up into the atmosphere.

I have well over 1000+ hrs in game and many saves and have never found a planet as cool as this one. I was curious if anyone else has found a planet like this? I dont really know how to post glyphs besides just typing them out but if anyone is interested in a visit to this planet I can provide the glyphs.

Can't find the Anomalous Space Station for quest? [Question]

I just started playing NMS on Xbox and I am currently on the mission "Alone Amidst The Stars" with the objective "Board the Anomalous Space Station" (right after you find Artemis's wrecked spaceship and Nada tells you it's time to see where they live).

However, I can't actually find this anomalous space station anywhere! There's no marker that appears either on my compass or on the galaxy map. According to the internet this station is apparently supposed to be a giant sphere or something? But I haven't seen anything like that anywhere in my game.

Is there a step I am missing? Or is my game bugged? Is there any way to fix this and find this elusive space station?

Xbox series x performance ?? [Question]

Hi i am quite new and just started playing the game today, I have my xbox series x on 1440p + 120 hz.

At the start there was not really any issues, but after the first planet move, it's unbearable i feel like constant drops to 30 fps which makes me wonder how that happened. I saw on a video that (https://youtu.be/LG0cKp9NQ8Y) that there is quality and performance mode ? I don't see any of that on video settings of the game on series x.

I'm not sure what's wrong or how i can somehow fix it. I wanna play the game but it feels so bad right now.

Freighters Addons [Discussion]

Hello Games should allow friends to call their own freighters. I dont know about enabling to steal friends cargo but that exist with hydroponics lol.

Freighters version of Space Anomaly where we can dock our own freighters at biggest space stations.

Driveable freighters where we can just use freighters to move within system while actually inside it. But probably unnecessary since we can just use starships.

And probably the main problem :

Fix the main colour on the ship cannot be coloured?

Don‘t trust other players [Discussion]

Long Story short - a Player, lets call him „Bizarro“, built a base. An interessting base. So I looked at it. Accidentally I steped in a hidden teleporter and fell down a long built tube just to die as I hit the ground.

And thats how my permadeath Journey ended after probably around 90 hours and 5k lightyears left to the center.

What have I learned from this? Don‘t trust other players.

How to change yaw and roll on controller [Question]

Hi! I've been having fun but the flight controls makes me hate flying so much, it's to me almost unusable. I wish to use R1 and L1 for yaw and left stick for roll like every other space game I've ever played but I can't figure out how to change it. I've been searching here and on google and I didn't find anything.

Even in the steam controller settings there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it. Does anyone know how? I use a PS5 controller.

Anyone else wish Hello Games would shift from big updates to small improvements and overall polish? [Discussion]

Let me preface this by saying I’m a huge fan of NMS. I jumped into the game fairly recently, but I was immediately hooked. Hearing from other fans what it was like back when the game launched, and seeing just how far the game has come, it goes without saying that Hello Games has achieved a once in a generation comeback.

That having been said, I think the game suffers from a serious Breath vs Depth problem. The breath of what you can do in NMS is incredible, and the number of systems and features that have been added to game since launch is almost overwhelming. But sadly, almost every system lacks any true depth, and most end up being nothing more than chores and grind. Settlements is the most recent and most obvious example that comes to mind.

Additionally, the game suffers from abysmal performance, at least in my experience playing on consoles. I play on an Xbox Series S, and in both Performance and Quality modes, the framerate, texture pop-in, and draw distance are anywhere from merely acceptable to downright unplayable. To be fair, I can’t speak to performance on PC or other consoles.

All of this is to say that I wish Hello Games would take a break from big blockbuster updates and spend more time polishing and refining the experience. Improve performance across the board, add depth to the many systems, address QoL things (I can’t auto sort my inventories?) etc etc.

Now I know I’m no game dev, and I recognize all of these things take tons of time and resources. Given the many hours of enjoyment I’ve gotten out of NMS and the free updates I’ve enjoyed every year, I’d be more than happy to pay for updates. And I don’t think I’m alone in that. Hello Games has certainly earned my trust and my money.

Anyway, thanks for reading. I’m curious how many other players feel similarly?

"Cannot build // Invalid Position" [Discussion]

Honestly the building in this game needs more fixing and a better system than what it already is. Its annoying trying to build complex structures and you accidentally build through walls or further from where you have it pointed. I dont think that building through objects should be in this game, it makes it so annoying to find that sweet spot just to place something directly in front of you. Fallout has a way better building system and I dont even prefer it.

Then I discovered we could not rotate base parts in all three dimensions anymore. I was sad.

No, I was defeated. :'(

I lost all will to build. That urge sometimes bubbles up, but then after a short while it dissolves into a tar vat of despair and misery.

I yearn for those rotation days.

I fear... without this staple feature, I may never rekindle my love for NMS that I once had.

Low rates with separated extractors [Question]

I tried going a bit further into mining but I got problems with my depots and extractors.

I have 2 groups of 4 extractors tied to 5 depots each. Somehow they now sharing a network but I am 100% sure that I have not connected them. Maybe one pipe glitches through one ex. of the other group but they are not really connected.

Are they just to close to each other? Thanks for help.

Noob request of assitance [Question]

So i recently started this game and even though most of it its pretty self explanatory i have some doubts - most ships guns and big ships (dont remember the name) are crazy expensive and i dont seem to see how to gather those amounts any tips to get money besidess the missions? - i dont know what resources are to keep and what to sell, which will help me gather more money is there also a benefit from killing animals?

[HELP] Lag at consistent intervals, game is unplayable [Question]

I'm playing on the Xbox Game Pass version of NMS on Asus Zephyrus M (i7 8750H, GTX1070, 24 GB RAM @ 2666MHz).

The frame rendering time and FPS dips at regular intervals making the game a jarring experience and unplayable for me. I have searched extensively through the forums, and tried experimenting with NumHighThreads, NumLowThreads, and TextureStreamingVk, but none of them made a difference. This behaviour is present at all of the available graphic presets, with VSync ON and OFF (Even tried disabling my monitor's GSync), but still was unable to identify the cause for this behaviour.

I'm on the latest Nvidia drivers (496.76), and in the video below I have disabled the Turbo boost to make sure both my GPU and CPU are running at constant clock speeds throughout the video (to eliminate the variance in boost clock speed as the culprit for these odd frametime spikes)

Please advice on how I may identify the cause for this behaviour and how I may rectify it.. if any logs are required for identifying the issue, let me know.

Random NPC interaction resulted in someone's death? [Question]

I just started a new save as I couldn't previously run the game, so I haven't played in a while. I just got up to the station and I was talking to everyone, learning new words. Anyway, I went up to someone and they were talking about how they were losing power and really needed help, they asked for carbon or ferrite dust, and I gave them the dust because I didn't have enough carbon. They took it and it didn't help, then they died I guess, and someone else took over? What just happened? I don't know if this is a spoiler for the story in any way or some random interaction but that was super weird. Anyone else experience this?

It has two suns, and a natural race-track like feature.

Freighter Command Issue [Question]

Does hatching companions count against companion count? [Question]

Hello everyone, I’m a returning player and I’m really enjoying the new updates so far. I’m especially enjoying the Companions update, because I think it’s awesome that I can tame creatures now.

So I just got my first egg from one of my companions, and I’m wondering if hatching the egg requires a companion slot. I love all of my companions, even my useless flying monkey that doesn’t do anything, so I really don’t want to get rid of one of them to hatch my egg! So does hatching an egg require an open companion slot?

Can't redeem companion egg again [Question]

I wanted to free space for new companion so I removed the expedition rewards thinking I would be able to redeem them again in the Anomaly... But it's not the case. I can't get my sandworm and whispering companion back and I'm sad.

Companion Egg sequencing bug when changing traits? [Bug]

So I got my first companion Egg and was very eager to try out egg sequencing in the anomaly I used this chart https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/lnj2w8/egg_sequencer_all_catalogue_raw_materials_and/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share to find the right things to increase helpfulness. I did it so often that I was absolutely sure helpfulness should come out at 100% but sometimes went wrong. The hatched companion had a playfullness of 100% so basically the exact opposite of what it should be. Is there some kind of bug that all the changes are now the other way around? Because even the egg sequencer said the inputted items would increase helpfulness. I now got another egg and wanted to try it the other way around. So only putting things that would decrease helpfulness to test my hypothesis. But then I thought I might just ask here is such a bug is already known. Or some other tips so I can get a helpful companion.

Permadeath question [Question]

Hi, I'm playing permadeath for the first time. I made it about 8 hours in over the last few days, just now I went to go get some tea after pressing the start button, which I thought paused the game...When I came back I was at the main menu and when I went to load my game it was gone. Transferring unique expedition items between saves [Suggestion]

This may be a bit late, now that the first expedition has already returned, but Sean should let us synthesise more of the expedition rewards, or otherwise transfer them across our saves. I'm not talking about the resources and expansion slots and exosuit tech, but all the items unique to that expedition.

Like most people (I imagine) I like having one main save, and would love to have a museum filled with the Wormskin Folios, that (currently) useless Station Override and whatever lore items future expeditions will bring. Of course a proper museum would let us actually display the items somehow, but let's worry about that later!

Glyphs in pics [Question]

I see so many screenshots with glyphs in them, but whenever I take a picture in photomode the glyphs disappear? They're there when I'm taking the picture, but the actual screenshot file has no glyphs in it. How do I get them to stay? I'd like to use screenshots to document planets that I'd like to visit again :)

Small questions about co-op, saves and so on. [Question]

So like in the topic, I've started to play no man's sky with my friend on completly new save. We both launched on the same planet and we are progressing the quests equaly.And here is the question because we started at the same time and we have almost the same saves, how does the game saves buildings? If he is hosting and I'm joining then will the buildings disapear when I go into my save to host or just to play alone or is it saved in cloud for both of us? The other question is, sometimes I cannot use his teleported and vice versa, sometimes I cannot even see his teleported on the list, is it bug or we must do something with it? I'm newbie when it comes about co-op so thanks for all answers :D

Help with a quest - ghost in the machine [Question]

During this quest when you have to find the korvax facility, it has gltiched in a mountain for me and is not accessible? Any solutions apart from returning to earlier save? Apparently if you go far enough from a mission it can be reset but don't know if this is still an option in the latest version can someone confirm? And if so how far since I went into a black hole which took me far away and the mission is still in the same location. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Xbox series S optimization [Question]

Just started the game and I absolutely LOVE it. So expansive, so much to do it literally feels endless. I’ve noticed the game can skip frames(understandable due to depth) so I set it to performance, capped FPS and it runs nice still. I was wondering if I should change the motion blur setting, it’s at 170 now, could that help if I change it? My fov is 75 so nothing crazy

The 2nd wave of the expeditions [Suggestion]

Today hello games has brought back all of the expeditions for people to play, and have another chance, whether you didn't have enough time, or were on vacation, etc...

Do I support this? 99% yes. I think this is a really nice move by hellogames and shows their appreciation for their community, so props to them. These items, a lot of them aren't even cosmetics, and in exp 3 you get a station override chip, so giving another chance is really nice

So what's the 1%?

I was one of the people who has beaten every expedition since the start, and am proud I did them all, especially expedition 1, which I found extremely challenging. During the 3rd and 4th expedition, I would fly the golden vector around, and feel so awesome, like yeah I beat that one expedition a while ago, I'm just cool like that.

I like seeing other people have a chance at the expeditions, but I kinda feel like the grinding I did during the original expeditions, under the pressure of time, didn't matter. So here's my solution:

Original variants. It's pretty simple. If you beat any expedition on it's original date, you unlock a color variant, or particles, or whatever. Maybe an Atlas variant for the Golden Vector, which of course you don't have to use. It'll all be cosmetic, and wouldn't change A lot, maybe even a small detail, like I decal. I just want something that's says, "yeah this guy over here, beat the original expedition."

Again, This does not mean I don't like chance for people to get these rewards. I'm all for it.

Question about building [Question]

Hey guys, I had found a settlement I was able to claim as my base (landing pad, a trade terminal and an npc inside who sells stuff). Now, I fly around a lot and notice medium/smaller/larger versions of these things, and wondering if those can 'become my base' also.

A separate question, when building things like refineries, solar panelts, whatever, can I just plop them on the ground somewhere outside? Or do they need to be 'inside' the base?

I created what looks like a long trailer outside beside the base (just using walls, roof, floors) and put all my components inside there, because I wasn't sure, but it sure looks ugly next to that nice little base.

What do I do with large amounts of electricity? [Question]

I've only spent about 50 hours on my main (and only, excluding a creative save i spent 1 hour on) save and so far the only thing i know to provide electric for is my base teleporter. So what can i do with electricity in NMS? I only have about 50 batteries and 30 or so solar panels at the moment but I'm only using a tiny fraction of that.

any ideas or tips would be appreciated.

Outrageous Frigate Expedition times [Bug]

So I logged in today and notised that all five of my expeditions read ‘’2664’ hours to complete. I am on a PS4, no mods, normal mode, 180 hours of playtime. Can’t seem to do anything to fix this. Been to two galaxies and have been back and forth several times but no help. Relogged in on both manual and automatic saves several times but no help. Anyone have any ideas? This would not be cool if I was stuck with 25 frigates that I can't do anything with for the next 100 days.

Apologies for asking but did the newest patch affect the personal refiner dupe at all? [Question]

Just asking because I only recently started getting back into this game. I'm not looking to start a debate on duping or anything, just will say that the ability to do so and regain the wealth I lost after multiple updates rendered everything I earned in-game years ago more or less useless has kept me interested enough to really start having fun in this game again. I don't want to download the new patch yet though until I know the duping is still possible because I still have some work to do to get my old legacy ship back up to S class.

For reference my question is about the portable refiner trick one can do without using the anomaly.

Question about first freighter [Question]

Hi all. I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find the answer to this question. I skipped the first freighter offered for free. And then today I warped into a system and saved a capital freight, and was offered it. I did not make a save before that warp, so if I decline this free capital freight will I continued to be offered free ones until i select one? Or since I didn’t save do I need to just go ahead and accept this freight. It’s a B class with 30 slots. Thanks

Expedition 1 and Save Points [Question]

I'm hoping this is just a matter of me being blind and missing something obvious, but in Expedition 1 (Repeat) I've noticed that I cannot construct the Save Point - not the Save Beacon that creates a HUD marker, but the plain ol' Save Point, the one that can actually be constructed aboard freighters.

As a result, I can't create Manual Saves aboard my freighter in Expedition 1 (Repeat) now. I have to go down to the launch bay, get into a starship and back out to create an Autosave instead.

Game won't stop crashing since the update, starting to get frustrated. [Bug]

I did what all the guides say online, which is "verify integrity of game files" and delete shadercache. The game loads the menu but it freezes, the crashes during the star loading field, and giving me an error code and telling me to zendesk for support. Since it happens during the star loading screen I cannot create a character nor load either existing one.

Hey! So, can we take a moment to talk about Expeditions? [Discussion]

They're very cool, but it seems moderately scummy that they're limited time things. Exploiting FOMO isn't something I'd expect from Hello Games. Yes, they're free content. So why does that mean they should be limited? Wouldn't it be much nicer if you could do them at your own pace? As-is, if you stop playing the game, you're just missing out on stuff that is artificially taken away for no reason other than to try to make you feel like you need to play. And that's very uncool. It's a psychological tactic that has proven both effective and predatory, and I'd really rather like it if Hello Games would just make them permanent additions to the game, like everything else.

Last night my game crashed a couple of times with blue screen on PS4. I thought it could be the latest update which caused some issues. Has somebody noticed anything similar? Mostly it crashed when interacting with parts of my base, like the refiner or storage container.

How do you actually start an expedition, as in what option do you need to pick when you load the game if that matters, and how do you find the option to do / start one ?

The only toon I've kept playing so far is the one from exp 3. The ship components and stats are so good I didn't want to just delete it and it ended up becoming my main save now. Anyone else fall in love with your exp 3 save? With that ship you don't even need a freighter I'm not even fully decked and I think it's got 3400 light year jumps now.

Exp 1 complete [Information]

Took a bit of time, but well worth it. Finally got the Golden Vector!

Anyone attempting it: remember you don’t have to do each phase in turn. At the end, I needed 16 locations where you pick up navigation chits; could have done that right from the get-go, ‘cause for me at least the first few planets had far more of them than the latter.

And finding the abandoned system? Just keep trying; took me a few jumps, but eventually one of them panned out.

But I took care of most everything in the first few systems. Used the first freighter that came along - a 19+4. Not what I usually get, but all you really need it for is 3 expeditions. Have to say, though, that the Normandy from Expedition 2 came in handy…

But the major benefit here - besides the run itself, which was fun - is the Golden Vector. An S class, 29+21 fighter will be a nice thing to pick up at the Anomaly when next I start a new run through 😎

Just made it to Calypso and... I guess I got lucky? [Question]

I spent at least four hours last night and this morning black holing it through Hilbert. Jumped through to Calypso, brought my freighter in, spent twenty minutes repairing everything. When I opened the galaxy map, I saw that I'm about 3000 LY from the center. I assumed I'd screwed up and was still in Hilbert, was pissed for a second because I expected to have to repair everything again. But nope... I'm in calypso. So... When you get to a new galaxy, where you land is random? I guess I got REALLY lucky? I assumed it was always on the outer parts to start a new galaxy.

Edit: twice now. I got dropped 3,239ly from the core of Hesperius.

Is this the norm? I was waiting for a grind to get to a lush galaxy.

EDIT2: same thing coming into hyades. Apparently this is the norm.

Every faction-related mission seems to be locked by my having too low of faction standing, but you can't raise that standing without doing missions. This is the last challenge I have to complete the expedition, but I do not know if I am patient enough to keep trying the RNG for 10 different missions.

Do the frigate missions take a few days, or is there anything else I should get cooking now so I don't run out of time near the end?

Is this a glitch or am I ignorant? [Bug]

Just seeing if this is a known issue that I’m not aware of or unique to me. I’ve got 3 medium refiners in a base; today I loaded 2 up with runaway mold and one with chlorine and oxygen. I leave to complete a few missions in the Artemis line, then go back to check on my base. The one refiner has turned the mold into nanites as expected. The other two are empty and have seemingly “ate” the mold and chlorine/oxygen in them. I’m a little salty about it!

If we buy No Man's Sky as four friends and do everything together, how "challenging" will the game be? Would we curbstomp every pirate in every encounter? [Question]

I am asking because we could use some challenge as we don't want to just kill everything in fifteen seconds. If we do that the game will entirely consist of "fetch" quests and I speak for myself when I say that I don't want to do "just" exploration. I've read that patches added such missions and I was wondering whether the game offers that challenging element for four players to treat it as at least semi-challenging. Thanks!

Where is the mission agent for Stylish Images? [Question]

I signed up for a mission from the mission agent in No Man's Sky called Stylish Images, have taken the picture, but cannot find the mission agent I accepted the mission from? I tried the agent in the first spacestation I'd visited but he ignored me - is there a specific mission agent? Perhaps on the Anomaly?
