Tracking Base Upload limits [Question]

So it's 3000 max pieces for a base to be uploaded & be visible to others. Is there anyway of tracking how many pieces you have in a base at any one time at all? Or is it just a 'keep going until you can't upload anymore' sorta deal?

Just wondering, as I've got a couple base ideas I want to do, but if it's a pig\impossible to track your parts use, it might make it a bit too laborious to really work out or I'll need to come up with a system of tracking it... :)

Two players see different planets while in the same planet(?) WTF [Bug]

Wtf is happening? My friend is in the same solar system where I am, however, while we are on the same planet, on my screen I have a Tropical Planet with perfect temperatures, water ext, while for him the planet Is buring with 180° temperatures and hot storms, and he dies almost immediately after he exit his ship. I also made him start a live stream because I couldn't believe what he was telling. On my screen I am in front of his ship, with blue sky, green grass and perfect temperature, while on his screen i'm standing in a burning storm with all grey clouds around.

Any workaround?

Wired bug on freighter. Any work around? [Bug]

I’ve started experiencing a weird bug today on my freighter. Whenever I try to move into the fleet command rooms, between sections of hallway or enter the bridge I hit an invisible wall. A quick jump with the jet pack let’s me through but it’s very annoying. Is this a new thing?

PS4 with latest update patch.

I don't know if anyone has found a planet like this before, but I've never seen one. The color of the grass and water changes depending on what angle you look at it from. Game crashing at game ending? (Major spoilers) [Spoiler]

So I talk to the giant sphere and reset the galaxy to a frozen one. It shows me a galaxy map, identifies a black hole and then freezes. A song can be heard playing but at the end of the song the game crashes.

What can I do to stop the crashing?

Has there been a change to how ships are classed when spawning? [Question]

In an "Adequate" (T2) system and have been camping in a trade hub and space station on and off for the past couple days waiting for a certain ship to spawn as "S" Class, but no luck, best it would spawn is "A" Class. Started checking all other ships, "A" Class spawns for most but NONE have spawned as "S" Class. I understand there can be a wait, it's no different from all the other ships I camped but I'm pretty sure I would have seen at least ONE of these ships spawn as "S" Class by now. Am I missing something?

Do uncharted systems always have a missing ship when going to "distress beacon" site? [Question]

I went to an uncharted system hoping to see what kind of crashed ships it will have. I've been using "emergency cartographic data" but so far every "emergency signal" I've been to has everything you would typically find at a crashed ship site, except for the actual ship. Even the ground has signs of the crash but so far I haven't found an actual ship.

Entering ocean planets [Discussion]

I’m not gonna lie, I still get really anxious when entering ocean planets, especially if there’s a storm going on. I’m terrified of open ocean and flying into a planet just to narrowly avoid crashing into the water because I couldn’t see the sea always makes me panic.

Expedition debrief bugged? [Bug]

Whenever I go to my command room it says I have dispatched no fleets and to leave. But when I go to control centre to dispatch frigates for expeditions it says I need to debrief my frigates first? I’ve logged off logged on, restarted everything but nothing seems to fix this bug? How do I fix or get past it as all my frigates need debriefing but it literally says I don’t have any fleets dispatched to even debrief.

I was working on my base, on a planet that is a capital of the hub I think. It's a pretty populated planet, I'm sitting there working and I heard a ship Land close to me. I did a quick save, my first thought was "this fucker is going to kill me". He did a quick wave, done a few other emotes. Then he just started dumping all these items on me. I invited him to a party, and he was just chatting with me about some recommendations on base building. That he gave me a egg that I think my hatch into a living ship?

He was telling me that solar panels can cause the lag when you build a ton of them. He's very helpful, I had to go but I am just really surprised how nice this community is.

VR: The best and the worst [Discussion]

To all the NMS VR players out there, and those curious about how we find it.

What is the best thing about it for you? What's the worst? Have any honourable mentions, or things you're still undecided on if you like them or not?

Personally, I brought my new vr headset last month pretty much purely for NMS. And for me, it's totally worth it. I love it. It isn't perfect, but nothing about NMS is, and honestly that's part of what I like most about it. It's a great game to explore and discover and create, but every now and again it likes to bug and kill you in new unexpected and impossible ways, just to make things more exciting. It's great for a laugh, and a new story to tell. It's a constant reminder that not only is there still work to do on the game, but that it's actually being worked on. Each update brings fixes, and new things to break. It teaches you to expect the unexpected, and that the universe is constantly evolving and developing and expanding. But I digress.

Here's my list of some of the highlights from my experience exploring an infinite universe in VR.

The best: How physically imersive everything feels. Equip your multitool? Reach over your shoulder and draw it. Activate your scanner? Reach up and touch your helmet. Interact with something in the environment? Reach out and grab it and pull it towards you. Steer your starship? Hold both hands on the joysticks, and use their movement to control your direction and speed. Browse your inventory? Pull up your wrist computer and manipulate things that way. Sure it makes some things tedious, such as switching mode on the multitool, or holding your arm steady for long periods of inventory tetris, but overall I find it's just really, really well done. I truly feel like I'm interacting with the environment, that I am really travelling the universe.

The worst: Exocraft. I haven't hurled yet, but when I inevitably do, I...

Broken planetary archive [Bug]

So I have an archive with a minor settlement beside it and the landing pads are broken. No ships fly by and NAV data will not call in my ship. Has anyone else found this? All NPCs are there doing there thing but all pads are out of commission.

Living ship questions! [Question]

Hiya!

I finally picked up the game again with a friend after wanting to play it since all the updates. I haven't really played since original release so all this new stuff is pretty overwhelming, so I'm coming here for help.

I have gotten a Void Egg while being AFK in the Anomaly for some reason and that became a thing, so now I've tracked all the pieces down and they're all mature. Now the quest shows me a green trail in the Galaxy-screen and no matter how much I jump the trail keeps extending to new systems. I've burnt through I think 20 warp fuels and there's no end in sight. What is the final mission for the living ship? My Void Egg humms something about hunters, ocean planets, stars something or other and ends with saying EUCLID several times. What do I do?

PSA: Quest 2 + NMS is incredible. [Suggestion]

Recently got Quest 2 and was looking for a good world to get lost in. Upon realizing the VR version comes with the game I gave it a shot and boy oh boy is it incredible! Running on a 980ti with link cable. I have to run it on pretty low settings but it’s so damn fun! Flying and building in 3D is a game changer. Also I’m coming back after years of updates and woweeee this game has improved. And the VR on boarding is fantastic. Highly recommended.

Alright so steam summer sale just hit and the game is half off at 29.99$. I've had the game in my wishlist for a while now but I only ever played the game back when it first came out and yes I've heard that the game has come a long way now but would still like to know what there is to do in the game now.

Lost Expedition Rewards [Question]

Hi! As the title says, my partner lost her expedition rewards as the PS5 unexpectedly bricked and the only option was to reset the ps5 to factory settings and download a reinstallation file as everything was corrupted. Unfortunately she did not PS Plus as that was the only way to back up PS5 saves. Because of this she lost all the expedition rewards (she completed both expeditions and claimed all the rewards). Just wondering if there is a way to get these back? We’ve tried opening an earlier save that was used to transfer from PS4 to PS5 but the rewards say they were not earned

Locate Your Benefactor ?!??! [Question]

Hey guys, I've just started No man Sky and honnestly, I can't wait to fimish the tutorial. Right now, I'm doing the "Find Us, Hear Us" quest of tye Awakening. Right now, I need to find the Bemefactor. The game tells me to use the Galaxy Map to find clues, but I don't see anything. Do I need to just visit random planets and hope to find the good one? Stuttering even though its showing at 73FPS [Question]

I got NMS from the steam sale and I'm really enjoying the game so far but there is one thing that constantly is bothering me. The game is registering at 60FPS + nearly all the time with no frame drops being reported in the overlay but it is still "jumping" around quite a bit especially when turning my camera around. The screen will stutter for a few spins of the camera and then stops but resumes on character movement. I have tried it on a lot of different settings.

I normally play games at 1440P and ultra, but following the games recommendations in game I opted for high settings. I noticed that the game was stuck at 30FPS (still jumping) so I turned off the in game vsync and buffering and used the AMD catalyst settings to use their vsync. After that it was registering 120FPS+ in cockpit and 60-75FPS on foot /planets. Due to the stuttering/jumping I dropped settings to enhanced and 1080 but still experienced the same issue. I mention all of this as id like to give the full picture in hopes of a solution.

My computer: CPU: R51600x GFX: RX5600XT MEM: 16gb game is installed on a SATA3 SSD

Interpreting Ship Stats [Information]

I'm trying to figure out what the ship stats actually MEAN. I know each ship gets its own set of bonuses that add a % to its stats.

For instance: Fictional S-Class Fighter Damage Potential: 289.4 (211.7 Core) Shield Strength: 186.4 Hyperdrive Range: (I get that this is just straight up light years) Maneuverability: 395.2

Is the damage Core + % Bonus?

Is that how many points of damage each shot does?

I just don't really get what I'm looking at and can't find the answer anywhere. Thanks so much! :)

Why are my Nanite Clusters not in my inventory? [Question]

When I refine any substance into clusters and transfer to my inventory, my nanite count does not change, and I don’t see any clusters in my inventory. I’ve tried using different refiners, transferring to my ship, etc and nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

Help finding living ship? [Question]

For a really long time ive wanted a black and light blue living ship, with the same design as the one in the post below:

the NMS coordinate exchange had living ships with the correct color scheme but not he design, so im still searching. The listed post is the only example ive been able to find of the ship I want.

Yet, when I traveled there with a portal (yes I'm in Hilbert) it said the system was discovered 10 months ago despite the post being a year old, and I couldn't find any planets with the name he mentioned. What happened here? Can anyone else supply me with a location for the living ship of my dreams?

LF Custom Color Save File Edit for Exotic (Royal/Ball Type) [Question]

Hello,

Some time ago I saw a multi colored Exotic player ship. The colors were clean and not of the bug type.

I looked into that as was already researching into the save file edit stuff for quite a while as I switch out seeds for my ships on a regular basis. I already had the suspicion that the framework for custom color change for player ships already exist but is not introduced as it would kill the content of "waiting on a landing pad for hours just to get the right color".

After some search I found something that works for bio and for conventional ships(via save edit).

Help With Void Egg [Question]

Just dived into No Mans Sky for the first time since launch and very much enjoying it! The amount of new stuff is insane. The living ship is super interesting and peaked my interest... but one problem. I see it costs ~3000 quicksilver? Is there a way to 1. Get egg without quicksilver or 2. Grind out quicksilver? Any advice on how to get the void eggs would be greatly appreciated!

i'm trying to play No Man's Sky with my son.. [Question]

But we're getting major desyncs constantly. Changed terrain for him isn't changed for me, or at least the overgrowth is still there and i fall into a hole. Things built disappear, wellll, it's still there technically we just can't see it anymore. I get storms, he doesn't. All this visa versa. Which is very annoying and takes the fun out of the game.

Is this a normal thing and are there any tips?

jumping at the core ... halp?! [Question]

so ... I set myself the task to jump through all 255 galactic cores, but I really have a tiny problem : I seem to be stuck in Calypso (the jump from Hilbert to Calypso was also difficult but somehow it worked). Everything that can be recharged is recharged, I even built all types of Hyperjump Drives (out of frustration really) on my minimalistic core jumper, and I'm on the nearest system to the core I could find (one single line to the core from the system). Currently I have the "explore the galaxy" mission selected.

When I go to the galaxy map I just can not jump. If I center the view on the core and wait nothing happens, if I press F ("mark waypoint") nothing happens, leftclicking on the core doesn't do nothing, left clicking on the line doesn't do anything (that seemed to do the trick when I jumped from Hilbert to Calypso for some reason), rightclicking brings me obviously back to my current system. I tried waiting (up to 10mn) in different states : core centered, current system selected and centered, currentsystem no selected but centered ... nada.

What am I missing?!?!?

How do you tend to build bases? Do you create one in every planet you visit? Do you prefer to settle on planets that have better resource options and/or better climate?

Just curious as to how you guys tend to build bases. In this older save I had I used to build one in every planet, and now I just built one and don't plan to expand further.

Damage potential- Ships [Question]

So I have been googling like crazy trying to look for answers but couldn't find any... Does the damage potential on ships really matter? I switched from a Fighter ship with 173 damage potential to an explorer that has 57 damage potential but I still destroy hostile ships quite easily. Please enlighten me, thanks!

Do you play NMSVR standing up or sitting down. Has anybody tried doing the adding your "couch" in oculus (if you use oculus) to sit down when you're in your ship, or do you just stand as you pilot your ship?

Personally, I prefer sitting while I play, but it's kinda lame when you get out of your ship.

I was given a lot of units and I destroyed them [Discussion]

I just started playing this game two days ago and I'm really enjoying it so far, just got my first frigate ship and am slowly progressing, enjoying the journey. I was in the nexus earlier turning in a mission I did and I was randomly given 9999 of an item that was worth around 10M Units. Being on day 2 that amount of money is insane, but based off my experience with rpg's and mmo's, giving a new player that much money right off the bat can destroy motivation for progressing. So I discarded it all. I want to enjoy the journey. Has anyone else been randomly given very valuable things in the nexus? Or maybe I'm just a massive noob and 10M is actually nothing for late gamers.

Anyone else still flying a shuttle? [Discussion]

Feels like there ought to be a support group for this or something, but my main ride to this day is a shuttle. Not the kind of shuttle that will ever make anyone stop and say "My, what an unusually beautiful shuttle," either. This shuttle is not notably attractive or impressive under any lighting conditions outside total darkness. Its lines are clunky and its colors are an unappealing mixture of off-white and mint-green. It doesn't look like it was designed to accomplish any particular task other than possibly not breaking down too often. It was the classic "first ship I ever bought because it had a whole two more inventory slots than my Radiant Pillar." And after multiple hundreds of hours of play, I just can't quit this thing.

My shuttle and I have now traveled across portions of four galaxies. I've spent my hard-earned nanites bringing it all the way from C-class to S-class, and will soon have maxed out its inventory as well. I've upgraded its hyperdrive and combat capabilities beyond any foreseeable need or justification. I've flown it through hundreds of battles and landed it on more planets than I can count. Gathering dust in my freighter in the meantime are a living ship and a revolving assortment of other sleek, glossy aeronautical marvels, which I will occasionally take out of the hangar for exactly long enough to pilot one of them through a black hole. The moment that's dealt with, it's shuttle time.

I can't explain why I feel compelled to do this, and I finally gave up trying. My path has been set, it seems. Others can have their sports-car fighters and their luxury-car exotics and their big-rig haulers. I'm in love with my shitty little space camper.

Am I doing something wrong here, or do fleet efficiency modules just not work? [Bug]

Finally got the last fleet fuel efficiency module installed, and with the six I have (four +16%, one +18%, one +19%) I should be seeing pretty massive reductions in fuel costs--I'm not good at math, but even I can add those up to +101%.

But there's absolutely no reduction in fuel costs at all.

I double checked and triple checked my fleets' usages per 250 and rounded up on the distance (like, for a 1464 LY expedition I calculated 1500) and these installed modules have exactly zero effect outside of nudging up the fleet coordination slightly.

Do I need to install them a certain way or in a certain configuration, or maybe going over 100% cancels it out, or... what? Or do they just not work at all?

Because if they just don't work I'm going to try real hard not to think about how much time I spent getting them.

im pretty damn new to the game, (i dont even have it, just played it at my friend's house) and upon fixing my ship and exploring my solar system, i found a paradise planet. my friend said that was really lucky. fast forward to a week or two later, i come over again, and make progress on the game. i travel to the next solar system, a korvax one and find two more paradise planets. unfortunately my planets have some really shitty land generation according to my friend. they're just spotted with islands.

Trouble with bounty missions. [Question]

Playing on PC, GOG version. I cannot complete any of the bounty missions from the mission board. (The pirate bounties that have the skull symbol with 1-3 stars).

I select the mission from the log, go into space, find the object labeled "bounty target" and warp to him. There are normally 2-3 ships, I kill them one by one making sure to collect their dropped loot.

Once they are all killed, nothing happens. My bounty mission stays unchecked, and there are no remaining bounty targets.

I have done this at least 10 separate times with different bounty missions. Please tell me I'm doing something wrong and it's not ALL of the missions are bugged.

What influences ship types and class? [Question]

Aside from the races that is.

Does distance to the core effect ship class / worth (3 star systems aside)?

Does the type of 3 star wealth matter? I read that squiddies spawn more in opulent systems.. is it true?

Does the universe type matter?

I'm in a new universe and maybe it's just rng but out here on the rim even 3 star systems aren't that great. I haven't seen any exotics in a long time and never a squid after 100 hours.

Transfer items/money to new character different game platform [Question]

Hey everyone,

I've been playing this game on and off for some time and I enjoy it a lot. I have a small base that's not much but it is mine after all.

I have been playing the game via steam (bought it before gamepass, I'm a launch player). I recently purchased a Series X and I wanted to play my character on the gamepass version so I can go between PC and Xbox when I feel like and not be confined. I know I can't move my save, at least from what I found, which sucks.

I was wondering if there's any way I can at least transfer my base, ships, units, nanites, gear or anything to this new character? If I have to start fresh it sucks but it's not the end of the world, just a lot of questing and grinding I need to redo.

Anyone on pc vr having issues with the game on oculus quest 2? [Bug]

Every vr game I have runs great but this one. Sound pitch is uneven, I get weird flickering when I look to the sides and the framerate is about 5fps. I have an rtx 3070 an ryzen 3500x. Tried resetting the headset. I thought it might be trying to render in 2d at the same time, but when I looked at menu options there's no 2d settings, only vr. And no quality settings for vr either, so I can't try dropping the rendering resolution or anything like that.

Did the Devs have the same crazy ass Mushroom trip I did when making NMS? [Discussion]

Alright I just started playing about a week or so ago and have just started progressing through the story, amazing game I've sunk like 50 hours before even really doing much on the story.

At the started of this month I had the most intense mushroom trip of my life. During this trip I saw some sort of orb entity(First time I met Atlas gave me chills and a flashback) basically telling me everything is a simulation I was fucking with the fabric of reality. There was a point were it showed me 3 beings in front of it( I just hit this part with atlas thus prompting me to write this). Ending up showing me a bunch of existences and was really blowing my mind. Then there were these police like entities that were taking a humanoid form so I could process them( I guess I could see these being sentinels). I obviously cant remember the whole thing but I swear this game is causing flashbacks to that trip. Starting to wonder if the people who truly believe we live in a simulation have had a similar experience * Tinfoil hat*

Edit Also Every time I visit Atlas I feel really uneasy and get tight in the chest.

Knowing how system economy works and simply trading component within systems is a game changer for early game [Discussion]

I've been playing NMS for about 100 hours and since this game has a lot of complex systems in it, I just didn't care what system economy and why there are green discounts or need / demand info on trading terminals.

New players, literally, all you have to do buy cheap components on one space station warp another space station who needs that (check component info flyer / popup to know where you can sell it) sell them there dearly repeat and profit.

I like the simplicity of this.

So i have pvp off, others can change terrain/base off. I was wondering with kinda everything off can ppl still harvest my plants and take stuff from my harvesters?

Because i kinda would like that and makes it more fun to build a base so ppl can use it as an outpost where they can get supplys for free. It would encourage me to travle more and setup farms and extractors to help others. I just dont want them to take my stuff from storage or change my base. Any tips, hints or ideas? Question regarding save transfering [Question]

So my fiancé and I play no mans sky together. I play on ps5 while she plays on her PS4 slim. She has been encountering quite a few bugs that are ruining the experience for her. To name a few: infinite death glitch, game freezes, and just lag spikes. My solution was for her to play on my ps5 to avoid some of those issues as I know you can transfer a save to the ps5 version. But are you able to transfer a ps5 save back to PS4 this way we can play together when we want to.

Feature proposal - urban areas [Discussion]

I find it easiest to write like a fiction piece so.

Some were tall, elegant, vertical structural beams like muscles. The largest at the top, they tapered down to the ground where they embedded like a throwing-dart. Between these filled in space dotted with windows and doors encircled with petal-like descending array of landing pads evenly space to allow safe access and egress of starships. The tops supported a large, flat disk with a ring of windows giving a panoramic view. Some towers were connected with various rod-like corridors creating the effect of a cat’s cradle of buildings.

Other structures hunched on the ground. Simple structures only one or two stories high, they had slightly angled walls and doors with flat roofs. They were a dull dusty bronze shade and the exteriors were simple and had a worn appearance, having no paint or decoration of any kind designed only to isolate the interior from the effects of the weather. The windows reflected this pattern of design, rectangular but with subtly pentagonal shapes and thick, clouded glass scratched from the harsh conditions.

Some were underwater, opaque fish-bowls with a flat side with a door.

Thoughts? It seems a bit odd that the only aliens you meet are long-distance traders and nobody seems to live anywhere. The planets I've visited have the occasional trading or research outpost but nothing more.

Sharing planet discoveries from creative mode to all modes [Question]

I'm wondering if while playing in creative mode discovering planets, fauna and flora and uploading them (maybe with renaming) (which is the thing I like most in this game) does it shows off on other modes like normal mode.

I've been enjoying normal mode for 20 hours now but I find I would prefer to only explore systems without any worries about resources. I find it funny to rename animals and planets, but that would not make sense if no one would saw them... So, does all other players see these, or only creative players?

(I've searched for an answer and I've seen uploads take some time to be done, but nothing definitive about discoveries sharing)

New Game after updates.. [Question]

Do updates require us to make a new save file to see all the effects brought in by prisms? I was playing on Beachhead when the update happens so I kept playing without thinking about it. Yesterday I deleted a 200hr save to start fresh.. I swear the first few planets in my first system are hella loaded with flora and fauna and weird color palettes. As the title says. About customization for ships. Uhm here’s what I think on why it’s like that. So you explore the galaxy to find ships that fit your need. They want you to go out and find what you want. Not stay on one planet. Though I have a solution to this whole situation. If you find a ship with a certain peice, color, etc. you can use those in a “ship customizer” that way you still have to go out and find the ships BUT it’s a little easier.

i tried to get into it a few months ago, but i think what deterred me was the storage system. it took forever to get a single crate, and when i did, it had to be powered for me to add / remove items. and the storage was so tiny!

i'm wondering if there are any like, QoL mods that make the game a little more bearable. it's honestly one of the coolest games i've ever played, but it can be a little frustrating at times.

Exploration amnesia [Question]

Hello, I have been playing this game for little over a month now on Xbox and have encountered a serious issue. I tried using search to see if it's a known issue but only get irrelevant results. Sorry if I'm bringing something up that everyone knows already.

For whatever reason the game forget things about my older previously explored planets, even though I have outposts there and have visited them recently. I don't know if it has anything to do with the recent updates, or if it's just a built-in limitation in the game.

I first noticed this issue while revisiting my outpost in a system called Gotant IV. Every planetoid was displayed as unexplored even though I have visited them all and even have an outpost on one of them. All the flora, minerals and fauna has been reset. In many cases I had found all of them. I tried revisiting each planetoid (but didn't scan anything on the ground) hoping it would recover, but that didn't work, except that the game currently agree that I have visited.

Looking back at my starting planet I see the same issue, though not as severe as of yet but it seems to get worse. The game hasn't forgotten that I have been there yet, but it's forgetting things that I have explored.

Abysmal Performance (Flat Screen and in VR) [Question]

My game pretty much runs at a constant 40 fps on low 1080p, and at 4 fps in VR. I have a Ryzen 5 CPU, and a GTX 1650 GPU. Is there any reason why this game is running the way it is?

I am able to run games in VR, such as Elite Dangerous and Skyrim with no problems. Does the game just have horrible optimization? If so, what are the best fixes

Upgrading my ships storage ruined its value. [Question]

I've tried looking this up a few times and haven't found anything about it

Yesterday I was playing, came across a B class hauler, I think, with almost full inventory and tech. Storages. I've been hoarding storage upgrades as well and figured with those and this ship, I could have one with full slots.

It cost me 63 Million. I upgraded it and added 11 storage slots. Now its worth 11 Million.

Why? Is that normal? I figured maxing out its storage would add value, not basically make it worthless. Is there any way to get that value back or did I get fucked?

How are planetary discoveries handled? [Question]

I am a new player, my friend and I began on the same starting world, so I assumed that every starts there (or at least from a pool of preselected starting worlds). After only one jump (my first jump) I discovered a planet.

That was unusual to me since I also have many hours in Elite Dangerous and you have to travel quite far from the "Bubble" to begin discovering new star systems.

Is it because most players don't upload discoveries or land on random planets? I would have assumed a million players had passed through such an early system by now. There were other discovered planets with player names attached within that same system and many of the surrounding systems.

Need help getting a direction [Question]

Recently got into the game on my Xbox and have mostly been just doing the story my house is literally just a 1x1 with a roof portal and the storage container that needs power(is there another way to store things pls tell me my inventory is always full) and just got in contact with the space anomaly. Should i grind out the story or try to find a good home planet with a good atmosphere so i can explore without re fueling hazard protection (if that exist early game) or travel system but is hyperdrive fuel rare. Fully decipher a language I’m just a bit overwhelmed. So any help in what my priorities should be would be helpful.

Or just what is standard or recommend tp do

Newish player. Can I just do whatever I want? [Discussion]

I played awhile back before another game fried my GPU, but now I have a console and have been getting back into this.

I was hoping I could just explore and do whatever I want. Basebuild, level up faction standings, whatever.

This game can be exclusively open-ended if you want it to be, right? I pop in to do story stuff every now and then but I just absolutely love exploring and finding new things. Just wondering how much of the story is mandatory.

Any way to actually use waypoints from the Discoveries tab on ps4? [Question]

I've got a lot of systems in my Discoveries tab and setting the galaxy map waypoint (R3) rarely works. From reading around in different topics it seems like this is related to a my current system proximity. Not sure if that's right but is there a way somewhere in the Discoveries tab to see the LY distance?

I can't find a good way to do any of this and apparently I can't teleport to a space station in that system if I haven't docked in it?

Cannot Alter Terrain Trolling [Bug]

I was doing the weekly, where you do the fossils. Got all the fossils, went to the guy to upload the data. He was buried, so I dug down to him -- I am assuming players were just being players and burying him for fun. I talk to him, then the next thing I know, all of the terrain magically shows up around me.

I could not dig my way out. I could not select the base to report it. Character was stuck.

I started writing this post... and then all of the sudden I was teleported to a landing pad? Maybe by an admin? No idea.

Anyway, just FYI... turn off multiplayer... I have like 100 hours on this permadeath character.

Nexus Weekend Mission Confusion [Discussion]

So... pretty much the title. Just an hour or so ago, I tried to do the weekend mission, as I'm in desperate need of quicksilver. Low and behold, I spend some time collecting all 12 fossils needed and fly to Polo's contact when I find this mess. Keep in mind, this clip is after I spent around 15 minutes trying to interact with the NPC and clear out the terrain. Some message balls were advertising... let's just say inappropriate sites. The NPC seems broken as I cannot interact with him at all and he just floats there no matter if I clear out the terrain around him or not. Is there a way I can fix/avoid this or am I stuck waiting another week for the next 1.2k qs payout? If not, and this is some a-hole's attempt at a funny prank, I'm not amused...

The Hunt for a Squid! [Discussion]

I'm hunting for a Squid ship and for the life of me, can not seem to find one! I have been following every tip I come across, and I want to make sure I'm not missing something. I play on creative, and just find hunting exotics and sharing their location coords fun. I am about 45 hours in (I know that's not much, but this is solely searching for exotics without worrying about resources). I've found 3 guppy, 4 Royals and 10 mosquitos. But I am test to find a single Squid! Has anyone found a consistent method to find them more consistently, or are they really just that rare?

Beginning starting tips for units [Information]

I just started a fresh save and got lucky and spawned on a planet with fossils. I proceeded with the quest till I got the terrain manipulator and grinded for fossils. You could easily do this with salvaged data too, and it's on all planets. I went to the space station,

and sold everything for 9 million units. I was able to get a ship with a decent inventory, and a full slot multi tool. TL;DR, Collect fossils and salvaged data on your planet for money quick at the beginning of the game.

Expedition Won't Start. Is this because of steam game sharing? [Question]

Yo

Played No Mans Sky 50 hours now (Steam insists it's actually 72 hours. Maybe the safe file timer excludes loading screens?) and wanted to try out this Expedition thing I've heard about.

I look it up, do some research, and find that I need to start a new run. Sounds fun. I go to make one, and it says 'Expedition Complete' at the top of the icon I need to select. And I can't select it.

I saw some threads talking about general Expedition bugginess, but they were all two months old. Is there a work around here, or do I just not get to have an expedition until a new one comes around?

I was wondering if this might be due to Steam family sharing. The person whose game I'm borrowing might've completed the expedition, and made it unavailable to me?? I notice that sometimes after I discover a planet, it's attributed to me at first but then get's attributed to them later for some reason.

Really appreciate if you guys could inform me. Sorry if this is a common thread!

Hey there fellow travelers. Well I have some time playing, maybe 200-250hrs? I love the game! Anyways. I found out that this game is basically my out. Unfortunately I live in an area where...well the wi-fi hasn't caught up as it has in cities. This means no nexus with people. I'd like to see what you friend entities do while out in the cosmos! I haven't gotten bored. There is just SOOOO much to do. I would like to experience what you find "fun" or exciting. In example, I like to "terraform" just blast shit to bits with my bobs and booms. Just another way of harvesting though! I hope to catch flows of wifi and experience this with others...should they be found, haha!!! Thanks!

Upgrade modules for exocraft fusion engine and acceleration module not working [Bug]

Has anyone else noticed that the exocraft fusion engines and acceleration modules are not applying the upgrade modules that you are placing next to them in the vehicles inventory? The upgrade modules are not lighting up in the exocraft's inventory when placed adjcent to the fusion engine as well as the acceleration module. This means they are not being applied. I hope you can resolve this issue soon as I love to drive the exocraft and hope that I will be able to upgrade their engines and acceleration modules again soon.

A system I discovered months ago (my starting system) wasn't actually discovered? [Question]

Hello!

Just thought I'd post here to see if anyone has a possible explanation for what happened to my starting system.

When I began playing the a few months ago, I started in a system with an awesome portal planet. I saved it with a base computer and also started building a base on another planet (same system).

Since then, I have regularly visited the portal planet to travel to various destinations across Euclid. I'm also certain I visited my other base on occasion as well.

However, today I noticed that the system was discovered a mere 2 months ago by someone else, including the portal planet. I'm unable to rename either. I know there was a patch that merged discoveries but I would have discovered the system far earlier than this random player. It also seems the person credited with discovering the system is on the the platform. Is this a bug? I'm guessing there's not much I can do, but I was quite fond of my portal planet and was hoping to rename it once I have properly established a base.

I should add that my other base's planet is now showing as discovered two days ago by me. I've been there plenty of times since the start of my save. Did it somehow not register earlier?

I finally got my first resurgent class freighter and I love this game [Screenshot]

After like 90 hours I got one of those things I wanted to have since I started playing and never thought I would get. But above all, this made me look at all my screenshots since I started. Remembering so many moments that I'm not going to forget like the end of the second expedition with so many nice messages from the people felt so good.

I know this game it's not nearly perfect, but it definitely made me feel like when I was a child discovering things , dreaming about what could happened in that strange world, wanting a cool ship... and I can't thank enough to hello games for all this good memories that made some days more bearable when things were shit. Thanks for bringing me back part of my childhood <3

Stripey graphics and colors all wrong. Help! [Question]

I'm new to NMS. The first time I logged in everything looked great. Just about every time after that my graphics are all kinds of weird. Stripes everywhere. My armor looks like party disco armor and rocks become difficult to discern against the ground.

I believe my drivers are up to date. This doesn't happen on my husband's play station when he logs in, just my PC.

What do I do?

Learning something new. [Information]

Hey all. This game never ceases to amaze me. I had taken on a mission in the Nexus today which sends me warping to a new star system. All of which is very common but to my surprise, there were approximately a dozen bases all over this new system. Great I thought, I love seeing others bases. So, when mission is complete I spent an hour or so checking these new bases out. I had thought of putting my own roots down until I discovered I wasn't even in my current galaxy. The Nexus had flung me 13 galaxies away back to within 90,000 light-years of my original starting point in Euclid when I started this game years before. Absolutely amazing. What a jump. That is incredible. Think I'll check where I am every time the Nexus sends me off.

On a side note people, I had finally finished upgrading my S-class freighter to where the jump range is almost double that of my starship and I only use 2% of my existing fuel supply. Nice. Went from 2,800 to over 4,830 light years per jump. I'm definitely liking this. I know it takes time to fully upgrade your freighters but it's definitely worth the time and effort.

Avoiding the buried weekend mission objective (very easy) [Information]

As you may have already heard, some dumbass built a base at the final objective location for the weekend Nexus mission (an NPC you have to hand some ancient bones to), then buried the actual NPC you needed to interact with. In case it's helpful to anyone, I was able to avoid this mess entirely by just landing on the opposite side of the planet from where the mission marker was pointing me and digging up my bones there. The mission didn't care where on the planet I landed, and once I'd collected all my bones, it assigned me a different NPC about 30 seconds' flight time away as my hand-'em-in guy. No muss, no fuss, no griefers. Hope that's useful to somebody.

Help with a possible lost save on ps5 [Question]

I just recently encountered constant crashing 30 seconds on a planet. No matter what it kept happening. Loaded up a different save to see if it's the game, and it worked fine. So I downloaded my cloud save which auto uploaded this morning. Booted up the game and both my files were gone. I tried re downloading the cloud save multiple times but nothing. Is there anything that can be done? I'm at a lost. If it matters at all I did do a psn name change the other week. Any help is appreciated

So I've just started playing, and I just finished the first stage of the antimatter quest, I crafted some and then used it to jump to the next system. While I was there, I decided to make a stop at the space station, and then forgetting where I was, used the teleporter back to my base. In the first system. Now I'm stuck there with no way to craft antimatter, and no fuel to jump back and continue the quest. Did I really just mess myself up that badly so easily?

I started playing recently because I hurt my back and was bed ridden. I started on the Xbox but now that I can sit up without feeling the daggers of hell shoot through my lower back I'm thinking of switching to PC. Does it crash any less? I seem to have soft-locked myself during the Starbirth quest. Any help guys? [Question]

So I've been doing the Starbirth quest, I crafted the Impossible Membrane last night, saved the game, and quit. Today morning, when I checked the log, it tells me to wait for 21h so that the Fragile Shell can mature, even though I don't have one in my inventory since I didn't go back to the monolith.

How do I get one again? I tried going back to that planet, but I can't locate the monolith. I'm hoping I'll get a Mature Shell when 21h is up, otherwise I'm stuck.

HG really needs to stop allowing bases to be built on Weekend Mission planets PERIOD ! The jackass and or jackass's that messed up this Weekend Mission ending really need to grow up and go back to playing Fortnite No Man's Sky is meant for people to work together to accomplish something not screw up everyone else's game .

Quest stuck in CO-OP, need help! [Bug]

I and my friend started playing yesterday, while the game is absolutely amazing we have encountered a bug that won't let me progress. We are playing co-op. He is hosting.

I'm stuck on "Habitation Programme Initialising", it tells me to select the powering the base teleporter mission in secondary missions, but I have no secondary missions. My friend did this quest fine. First, we were based in the same area, but I thought I might need to base alone for the intro when it didn't work. So I did that and it still didn't work or let me complete/start the quest. Worth mentioning that I tried to build my own base computer the first time around, which allowed me to claim an area since it was far enough away, but the quest forced me to use his for the intro as well anyways.

[HELP] Can't See Other Station Warp Points On The Teleportation Terminal Anywhere [Bug]

Hi,

We've started the game with my wife a few weeks ago and all were nice and dandy. When I went ahead to the next point in my galaxy map, following the "to the center" directions, to the system and went straight to the trading station, only to see the other trading station is not shown in the teleportation terminal. I can only see my own base's teleport device but nothing else, not my wife's own teleporter, not the starting terminal or anything else.

The only terminal I can see is from my own base station teleporter and it only shows other players terminal and the starting terminal in my first system. Some entries are shown twice.

Things I've tried: Start the game over again with Steam Cloud Save closed in Single Player only. Jumping a few more times to see if anything changes Mingling with save editor to see if anything wrong with teleporter entities are there, yes they are, compared it to another players file on discord, they are exactly the same. Some people said you have to visit another planets before the waypoint becomes active, didn't help. Verify game files Reinstall the game completely Format PC & Clean install windows to brand new SSD Info: Game is on another drive separate from OS drive.

The game is pretty much unplayable in this state and with the new update, I'd really really love to give this another shot. Does anybody have a clue?

TL;DR: Teleportation terminal doesn't show previously visited terminal locations or other player stations. Halp.

Drop Pods 'n' Such [Bug]

I've put around 70 hours in the game so not a veteran. However, i've found some inconistencies 1 drop pod coords lead to "used" pods. if the planet is "cleared", using the coords on the beacon should be either unavailable or lead off planet 2 similarly, the charts often litter my map with already cleared locations 3 A new player may effectively grind for an item twice. once through savaged data and the second time through research terminal fetch quests. It would make sense to not have to do a quest if I already have the prize or atleast have a Nanite/Units replacement.

TL;DR It feels like the game isn't tracking the player's activities and discoveries properly.

Living Ship - Starbirth -Quest Reset [Question]

I just bought the second void egg for a black and red living ship.

But now, I have the problem, that I need to reset the quest in the atmosphere of a special planet so I can get the one that I want.

But no matther what I do, I can't reset the quest. Already tried mousewheel etc. (Playing on PC)

The reset Option does not show.

Multitool Tech Exploit [Bug]

So I came over a bug or exploit.

It happened like that: I Deleted all my Multitool tech and got the material for it back, like it should. But after that, I tryed to change my Multitool with the X button menu (On PC). I accidentally clicked on the recent Multitool and not the one I wanted. But after that process, I got all my deleted tech back on my Multitool and still got the material from the deleted ones in my inventory.

Did anyone noticed the same exploit or is there a post for it? I can upload a video if not.

So every so often, say you need to clear some goop or rust, the UI seems to skip this and go directly to the result. This seems to affect anything that nee 2 interactions (e.g. damaged machinery, abandoned bases and even drop pods) ?

Agriculture research mission bug [Bug]

The side quest for the agriculture research guy says to grow the Gravitino host but I've done almost 10 harvests now and the quest does not register when I plant them. Ive tried deleting the agriculture terminal but the quest still appears in the log and there seems to be no way to reset. No idea how to fix this ive been stuck on this quest for like a week.

Memo to Hello Games: When the number one piece of advice being given to players of your showcase multiplayer missions is to turn off multiplayer, it's probably time to make some changes [Suggestion]

I realize it's not possible to anticipate everything some highly motivated griefer might do, but it should at least be clear by now that having PvP turned on by default and allowing people to build bases directly on top of crucial mission locations isn't making the game more fun for anyone but assholes.

Inventory full even though there are empty slots? [Question]

Trying to sell a starship and I have the necessary slots open but the unit keeps telling me my inventory is full. I had this difficulty yesterday and just jumped from one ship to the other and back, that solved it. Today it doesn't seem to be able to do that.

Planet no longer storming? [Question]

All the planets in the system that my friends and I began in were once storming rather frequently. Now none of them storm at all. I've seen about the extreme tag it needs in order to be able to storm. They used to have extreme but now all of them seem to have tame weather. Is that just RNG on whether or not a planets extreme weather just goes away over time?

[Possible Artemis Path Spoilers] Storyline Expansions? [Spoiler]

Does anyone know if Hello Games has plans to extend the story beyond the Artemis Path? I feel that the revelations learned throughout that storyline have limitless potential to drive the story ever onward, perhaps even so far as to reunite the player with some of the characters we've known along the way. I really enjoy where I'm at nearly 100 hours into my save, exploring the Eissentam galaxy with a surprising sense of peace, but I find that I miss certain elements from before and I'm genuinely craving more.

I can land on a planet through my portal. [Question]

But the portal does not "show" to allow me to get back. I have to fly up to a space station in order to transport myself somewhere else. This is on two of the planets I visit regularly. Is there a fix for this? Thanks in advance to all of you in the community.

Multi-player help [Question]

I cannot connect to my friends game so the three of us can play together. His lobby is available and when I click to join it the "joining lobby" message comes up followed by a "connecting " message and then nothing happens it just reverts to the lobbies menu.

I've tried all of the available suggestions that I could find online and none of them work.

I'm about ready to request a refund on steam. But thought I could check here first.

Any suggestions?

Just started! [Discussion]

I'm a bit late to the party (though I hear that's a good thing in this case), but I picked up NMS in the Steam Summer Sale this week, and I'm having such a good time! Fairly quickly, I found a crashed shuttle that was a huge improvement over my starter ship in terms of capacity, so now I've paused everything to get her fixed up again (I know that's not the best or most efficient thing to do, but I'm having a lot of fun tracking down the various elements and components needed to do repair each damaged bit of tech on the ship). I've named her "Burning Scrapheap".

There's still a whole lot of galaxy left to explore, and I've not even discovered everything my fancy purple paradise planet has to offer. I'm mostly looking forward to unlocking some of the more high tech buildings and structures. My little wooden shelter is nice and all, but it makes the teleporter, storage unit, and my weird space car look very out of place.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that. Loving what I've seen so far, and I can't wait to dig in!

Do caves change over time? [Question]

So, I found this big, empty cave on an extremly hot Planet (318°C during storms) and my Plan was to build an underground base called Hell's Refuge. I know about the regrowing Terrain issue but do naturally-generated caves change aswell? Because I started building inside the cave and after returning 2 days later my room is now partially covered by the earth.

Any1 ever experience something similiar?

Question about Starships, scrapping, and upgrades. [Question]

Hello all, sorry if this is common information, but I've been looking around for answers and haven't been able to find any good ones that are recent enough for me to fully believe they are still true.

I played around 20 hours at launch. My launch day save is long gone (I shared a save file with my partner at the time and it was his PS4) - so I'm starting fresh and working off what little I remember and also what little I've learned/researched since starting again in 2021.

What I want to know is about Starship capacity/stats.

I bought a B Class Shuttle (21+5) that I really love the looks of, and it has launch fuel refueling upgrade on it, so I've been really enjoying not needing to make fuel to pop around all over the place.

I recently found a damaged B Class Explorer (34+10). It has higher maneuverability and the same refueler as well. I really do not love the way it looks.

From what I'm able to tell from looking around online... B Class ships are supposed to max out at 7 Tech slots, and my Shuttle certainly does. But the Explorer I found has 10 and isn't even maxed out it seems? It looks like there's space inside the white line for 4 more Tech inventory spaces.

And the same is true of its normal potential inventory. The Explorer has all but the far left column... whereas the Shuttle I've got is missing the first two columns and bottom row.

My understanding was that upgrading Class letters upped your potential max inventory (and maybe other stats like maneuverability but I can't find much info there). But... If all B Class ships don't have the same max potential inventory, how does this work?

What happens when I take this B Shuttle from B to A Class? What happens when I take this Explorer to A Class?

Can the Explorer just not become S and it functionally doesn't ever need to?

Will I EVER be able to have more...

Another new player post [Question]

Hello, i started nms about a month ago on my ps5. Just sent my first freighter on its first mission. Unfortunately ill be getting my psvr adaptor so i have to start all over on the ps4 version.

I wondering about the randomess of everything. As i understand it finding crashed ships is random but i hear about specific triggers. In the case of the freighter i guess i had to warp 5 times and defeat some pirates to trigger it. But i hear if you decline this first freighter, you can warp 5 more times to get an even better one for free? Is this true?

What kind of other triggers are there? Because its not really explained. Also is there a portal already on every planet?

Im also confused about the anomaly. I thought it was like a social space you could summon anywhere you are, but i have a device that will scan and show me the location of anomalys? Are these different?

Bought first ship- Old one disappeared? [Question]

So I bought my first ship but the Radiant Pillar seems to have vanished. There are only 2 stations it could have been in. Not there. Can't summon it, just a blank tile that reads "radiant pillar", selecting it does nothing. .. Not the end of the world, but apparently the shuttle cockpit has glitchy panels so not sure if I want to keep it.

Anyone else finding unclaimed base computers in flat, empty fields lately? I do not recall seeing these until just today, and now I've seen two - on different planets in 2 different systems. Previously unknown systems, too. In Hesperius, no less, haha... [Question]

Have I just been blind before today, or are these relatively new?

Ship ownership loss bug. [Bug]

I was just curious if anyone else has had this happen to them in game.

I found an A class ship crashed and inoperable while playing last night. I've spent pretty much most of the day repairing it and adding materials and parts until pretty much the only things left to repair were the technology items.

At some point, I needed gold and took off in my original ship to get some. While doing so, being the attention deficit player I am, I flew to another planet, mined some copper, set up a base and then portalled back to the base the repairing ship was at, only to find that I have to claim it again and it's completely trashed.

To say I was annoyed would be an understatement.

Having had a brainwave I considered portalling to another base and summoning the ship to see if it turned up in its mostly repaired state. Nope, it flew in, landed and then turned out to be as completely inoperable as when I found it, with all the engines dead and major failures right across the ship.

Anyone know if this is a recognised bug that I just can't find while searching and is there a solution, because to be honest I don't know that I give enough of a shit to do it all again with the potential that the game will just shit all over the next repair effort.

The lighting needs a fix for the interiors of freighters and caves. [Bug]

I'm a long time player, since day one. And with all these updates and graphical fixes, the interiors of freighters and interiors of caves somehow still glow the color of space or the sky when it comes daytime. How is this cave 400 meters underground glowing orange like the morning sky? It's the little details that sell the immersion. You shouldn't be able to tell what time of day it is from underground. I believe that a collective explanation and begging on Twitter to hello games would convince them to release a tiny graphical update on it. I say Twitter because they seem to interact with more people through that platform.

Lost egg in space [Question]

Some time ago I've dropped an egg (in order to hatch it) somewhere on some planet, but unfortunately I got distracted and went on traveling among the stars. But now the message that 'an egg is about to hatch' keeps popping up. (I've checked all my inventory, but there is no egg there). It seems impossible to find the planet again, let alone the coordinates where it must be. So, how do I get rid of this message?

How to build more items on a freighter? [Question]

I’m almost 40 hours in on my save and recently picked up a very nice Dreadnought. I planned on making this freighter my primary base but I can’t seem to figure out how to build anything more than just the basics. Large freighter rooms, specialist terminals, limited tech, etc. I’ve seen YouTube videos of people building awesome looking freighter interiors. How do I obtain more blueprints to do the same?

Star seed help [Question]

Hi guys. I finish the Artemis story line and Atlas path some time ago. I choose green star for travel to Eissentam and then play for chill, building bases, makes some nanites and money etc.

Some time ago I see other players have Star Seed on they inventory, so I just start looking mine.

I dont have Star Seed and there is no blueprint for this. Even on catalogue in game I dont have this.

What I must do to take one?

Damage Disparity [Suggestion]

Currently multi-tools that were purchased prior to the Next update have a huge advantage over those purchased post-Next.

This is something I know that players organising pvp events has had great difficulty with, in regards to implementing fair rules. Especially as people that have been playing longer have an unfair advantage.

Whilst player's will have different stats dependent on the upgrades they have, that will be related to how much time and effort they have spent hunting them. That I would consider to be fair, as they have the same opportunity to reach the same damage potential, if they put in the same work. However currently the base stats do create a huge chasm of what is currently possible and what a Pre-Next tool can reach.

Whilst I'm sure that there may be a reason that old tools base stats can't be changed, is there a reason that current ones can't be increased to create a level playing field?

One of the huge benefits of this community is that they welcome new players in, so it's hard to see them left behind in terms of what they can achieve with the same amount of effort. To put it in perspective a new player with a current alien multi-tool that spends 30 hours to get the best X-class modules, will have much lower damage stats than a player with a pre-NEXT alien multi-tool who spent half the time getting max S-class modules.

We can guage the damage by comparing the tool's base damage (just the core tech of mining laser and scatter blaster) vs. The tool with 3 (approx) max damage X class scatter upgrades.

Pre-NEXT Alien multi-tools have a base damage stat of 5,618.8. Fully upgraded the max potential is approximately 17,609.4

Vs.

Post-NEXT Alien multi-tools have a base damage of 3,996.4. Fully upgraded the max potential is approximately 12,524.8.

The disparity of two fully upgraded alien tools pre and post NEXT is 5,084.6 DPS.

Signal source is underground? [Question]

I just got the game today and I keep running into an issue where the signal source I’m supposed to be interacting with is underground and inaccessible.

The first time it happened I couldn’t find any solutions online so I just erased my save and started over. Now I’m a few hours in and ran into the issue a second time, further into the story line. I’m supposed to “travel to the strangers coordinates” but when I get there the red icon is under a mountainside. I can’t use the terrain modifier thing to dig down and get to it either, it won’t let me mine that section of the mountain. Furthermore, there was a crashed ship next to the underground icon, and when I tried reloading the save the crashed ship completely disappeared.

I’m really hoping I don’t have to start over a third time… does anyone know how to fix this?

"Common/Underwater/Always Active" Creatures question [Question]

Hello,

I've been having trouble finding creatures which are "Common/Underwater/Always Active". I've searched for hours and I cannot seem to find them. I'm playing on PS5 if that helps. It's been frustrating as you need to find all creatures on a planet a few times for a trophy.

I am considering just avoiding planets with water to complete this trophy, but thought I would ask in case I am doing something wrong.

Separate colors for beetles? [Question]

While sequencing my beetle egg, trying different color options I noticed that none of the colors I was picking were matching up. Every material I chose gave me different colors than what guides had. It seems that beetles, (maybe flying creatures in general), have their own color palette separate from the normal creatures. Has anyone else noticed this and researched further?

Scientific Research Quest [Information]

This is my first run through, I've built a science stain but I still need to find a Korvax scientist to run it. I've switched primary mission between all three quests relating to finding a scientist, I've gone to multiple Korvax systems, searched all the backrooms, reloaded various stations, warped to different systems, all with no luck. The mission marker takes me to a station in the main system I'm in, but not to any of the npcs. I've spoken to all the beings in the station (mostly Korvax) and can do nothing but practice language skills. There's one Korvax walking around who I can talk to, but I can't practice my language skills, and his "visited" badge never changes. I wonder if he's the one I'm supposed to talk to but he glitched or something. Is there anything else I can do? Am I doing something wrong? I've spent like 3 hours trying to find a scientist and it's infuriating

Lag and Stutter issue [Bug]

Let me start by saying that I have ryzen 3 1200, 8gb ram and gtx 1050ti, windows 10 latest and all overlays are disabled

Since the last month, whenever I play NMS either of 3 things happen It runs fine like it did before (not often) Facing water on a planet drops the framerate to 20s and stutters a lot, going into the water makes it downright unplayable (face it almost every time I play) The game stutters and lags no matter what I do

I'm not much for quality so I usually go with the lowest possible settings in this. I even tried lowering the resolution from 1080p to 900p but the Stutter and frame drops are still there

Any ideas?

[PC] Extreme Lag After Alt Tabbing [Bug]

The title pretty much says it all. After I alt+tab my game lags down to unplayable framerates and it doesn't recover to a stable point until I restart the game entirely. This happens with both borderless windowed mode and fullscreen mode. I've tried everything I can and I can't find anything that works. If you have any solution thanks in advance.

Pronouncing Eissentam [Discussion]

No matter how much time I spend in Eissentam, I can never seem to nail down a definitive pronunciation for it. One day it's "I-sent-'em", the next it's "Eye-zen-tam" (like Heisenberg and Tammy squished together), and the one after that it's "A-zen-tem."

To be honest, I've grown to hate the name.

Help with severe FPS issues after driver update [Question]

Hi,

I recently updated my driver, and this has, for some reason, caused my FPS to go from 60 at basically all of the time, to a CONSTANT 20 fps. This is the ONLY game that this has happened with, and I am very sad that I am unable to play No Mans Sky anymore :(

VR performance and Prism Question [Question]

Hi all,

I just bought the game on steam and I am having a blast so far.

Yesterday I tried it in VR but I was a bit disappointed by the performance. In particular I had a high reprojection rate and FPS drops in the 40s

I have a 3090 and a 5800x, so I thought that I should have been fine even at ultra settings.

I set up DLSS on quality.

When I play on screen I have absolutely no issues at 4K but VR gets a bit clunky (especially when using the scanner...walking around seems fine)

Anyone had the same experience with a similar system to mine? Am I doing something wrong? Should I set the DLSS to performance or ultra performance (I haven't tried it yet) ?

Finally, but not related to the first point, is the Prism update already live? I am a bit confused about this…

Weekend QS mission plague [Discussion]

My goodness. Can someone tell me when the weekend missions go live? I’ve got to do them first thing if I want to complete them because that diarrhea of message orb shit I was just abused by was unplayable. Literally. I just finished clipping through the map for what felt like 10 mins after finishing the bones digs for easily 30 mins only to have my PS5 crash. Probably from the human centipede action I just was subjected to.

Can anyone offer any tips or do I just need to beat the lowest common denominators to the punch next weekend before they “tag” the place with their worthless trite. What an utter disgusting waste of my time. Thanks to all of 13 year olds for leaving their garbage on the community spaces. Literally underneath the contact to finish the mission you self centered assholes.

5 years of gaming [Information]

Bought NMS when it came out. I was pretty much oblivious to the hype and to the masses of negative reviews.

Instead I was happily travelling the galaxy by myself.

Five years later and I'm still playing this game. Still loving the experience and pottering around in my part of the galaxy.

No other game I've played in my 40 years of gaming has done this. And no other game has continually been upgraded, updated and made even more enjoyable, (For Free!) by a team that truly loves what they do.

Nothing beat the excitement of accidentally bumping into another Traveller. Or building a base on your perfect planet. Or exploring the galaxy alone.

Reading the community posts and threads shows also what a wonderful and non toxic group of players we have too.

How Many Bases Do You Have? Am I A Base Addict? [Question]

So I was going through the number of bases I’ve created in the game over my 300 hours of play. I’ve been using a spreadsheet to keep track of them and their purposes. Some are for trade routes. Others are for farms. Some are for the ability to get into a different system.

Currently, I have 84 bases (wow…) and I began to wonder… is that too much? How many do you guys have?

Couple questions about multiplayer [Question]

Hi there, sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm struggling to find concrete info online (SEO makes it hard to get info instead of ads!) and I have a couple questions about the multiplayer aspects of the game.

I'm in a group of five people wanting to get the game, but I've read that parties are only up to 4 people.

Is it possible to have the fifth player travel with us, doing everything as usual but just not be able to build things on group structures/ships?

Could they travel in the same ship as us when we travel between planets, ensuring that all five of us will always be in the same instance?

Do galaxies somehow blend together? [Question]

I was doing a bit of galaxy hopping to get to the next lush galaxy and I always use the portal address from the Wiki to get close to the center. When I get there, I leave a communicator to (hopefully) inspire future travellers to go on.

Now the weird thing: yesterday when I got to a new galaxy and had used the center portal, I was greeted by my own communicator from a few galaxies back. And there was even a planet in the system that was discovered by me. But I had never been there. How is this possible?

Hey guys, can anyone please help me. A system and a particular planet which I was really happy to have discovered was shown today as being discovered by someone else. [Discussion]

So last night I was doing some exploring looking for cool new ships to share on Reddit. I found this particular system which had really cool ships and one particular planet Kuoka 34/E5. But when I revisited that system and planet again today, It was shown as being discovered by some other player. I am 100% positive that I was the one who discovered this. This made me very sad as it was the first system that I had discovered which really made me feel proud. I had even shared some of the ships that I had discovered on that particular planet. Please correct me if I am wrong but is this possible or was there a way to take credit for someone elses discovery ?

The last update gave me really big fps boost. It went from 60 ish to 130fps on all max settings.

Creating your own planet in game [Discussion]

Ok I just had an idea. How cool would it be, that as a reward after god knows how many in game hours or after getting all trophies or for the cost of 100.000.000 nanites you could CREATE YOUR OWN PLANET. You would be able to choose colours, biomes, types of plants weather, and place it in whatever system in whatever galaxy you'd like. Thoughts?

Getting into industrial production and valuable products. [Question]

I'm a relatively new player, just getting into the farming portion of the game, and I am wondering if there are any tips or investments I need to make early on to make production quick and easy. As far as I understand it, the valuable products build off of one another, so it accumulates to become something truly valuable.

I've begun my fledgling farm, just collecting the flora of the universe to add to my glass domes and hydroponic plots. Nothing amazing, but it's a start, right?

Scrapping ships for upgrade modules. [Question]

I'm in the process of scrapping S class ships for upgrade modules to use on a couple of other ships I'm keeping in my collection.

Something that jumps out to me so far is that I seem to get only Hyperdrive and Shield upgrades from doing this; none of them have dropped something like a weapon upgrade or pulse engine upgrade.

Is this just bad luck in the RNG for me or do the ships only drop specific upgrades?

Trying to find freighter but the design I'm after doesn't show up, bug? [Question]

I've recently gotten access to portals and I've gotten my dream ship and multitool but I can't get any of the freighters I'm chasing. I'm not even talking about S class I'm talking about the design. I've tried 3 different Venators with max size and either didn't get a Venator or only find stubby ones that are not close to what the pics show. Am I missing something?

Can’t join friends session [Question]

used to be able play together about a year ago, all of sudden we came back to the game and now it’s impossible for us to play or join each other. whenever i try to join from multiplayer menu, it says joining or connecting for about 2 seconds and then it disappears with no further action. when we try to invite, it simply just doesn’t work and we have uninstalled, reinstalled checked our settings all of that. pretty frustrating as this was never a problem before, anybody had any similar experience ?

I stuck at ghost in machine quest [Bug]

It said enter the corvax building via craft a boldcaster, but i entered via destroy the door with ship weapon. So quest text didnt change. I activated the computer and a question about killing or feeding some creature appered and i answered it. I cant use computer again so i crafted boldcaster. Quest changed it said make ammunation. I made ammunation. It still says 'infitrate the korvax facilty, breach the door, prepera ammunation on lover left corner of screen. But i allready did that so what should i do now? I think game should have know the door could be destroyed by ship

Wondering about upgrades to class ship or s class [Question]

What's better in the long run. Hunting down a s class ship, or just upgrading one you like. I wondering just Stat wise? What's truly the better ship? I ha e ships that I like already and can upgrade them to s class. And I have an exotic s class. I still have a slot to fill in my hold for ships. Was wanting one with best stats I can get.

No man's sky xbox crossplay issues? [Question]

Me and my girlfriend are playing crossplay, me on pc her on xbox. On her screen anything that moves (my character, wildlife, sentinels) are extremely glitchy and lagged out for her. Is this a common issue? Any fix? We played before and it wasnt this bad.

Also we tried each of us hosting the session, it doesn't help.

Can't find the last fauna on my planet. Any tips? [Question]

I've got 12 of 13. The last elusive one is Underwater, Common, Always Active. I've gone on deep dives trying to find it, searching both the small lakes and the large oceans. I've even tunneled down and found underwater caves and searched those, too, and found nothing.

Does anyone have any search tips or advice on how to find it? Thanks!

My game keeps crashing and I don't know why please help. [Question]

Ok so this has been happening since the prisms update and I still have no idea what's going on. I've tried to figure out why the game is crashing but to no avail. (I play on a laptop btw) It usually happens when I'm near a freighter or leaving a planet/station/freighter/frigate or when the game is trying to load one or more of these things. (so basically all the time) Sometimes it just gives up and other times it's completely fine. Anyways please help me as I don't want to loose any more game save data.

Diving into the wonder! [Discussion]

Hello All! Today, I begin my journey. Just got my Series X recently and I am ready to give this game a shot. I know a LOT has changed and been added since it was released. I've been reading a few posts to help myself get ready and I think I have most of what I need down, to begin my journey.

u/ace72ace had some good tips on an earlier post. " Save up for a multitool with at least 16 slots, and buy S class scanner upgrades - 3 is the max. Make sure to arrange your tech upgrades so they are next to each other for a boost. Also have enough sodium to recharge your shields for your ship. Minor settlements or repositories with emag power source nearby is the way to go. Make sure to buy analysis visor at the anomaly. "

So I've got that. I guess I just had a couple basic question, but any other advice or tips is very welcome.

I also read, on the same thread as the quote above, to never sell my beginner ship. They are rare, and I can have up to 6 ships anyway. Does everyone start with the same ship? Should I re-roll until I start with a better ship, or is that not a thing? :P

Will I have enough fuel to make sure I can keep flying around, searching for that perfect planet? Is there a trick to make sure I always have fuel?

Also, I've seen some of the crazy things ya'll have built in the game. I know nothing about building in this game, as it hadn't been added yet when the game came out. How long does building take? Can I get everything I need from one planet? Or will I have to find certain materials on other planets and bring them back to where I plan to build.

Will I want at least some hostility on a planet? Or is peaceful the ideal dream? Meaning, are there advantages to having drones or whatever they're called, and hostile animals, etc?

Question on a hanger warehouse build [Question]

Im building or trying to build a warehouse hanger type thing that has all my exo crafts in there including the big one cus u can’t put an exo craft terminal on your freighter, anyway how high can one make the roof for it to keep out a storm? The way i have it now its 7 walls high and the roof isn’t complete yet so maybe thats why the storm is getting in but i dont wanna put the whole roof on and find out its to high and have to do it all over again.

Enable Cruise control without mods [Information]

To enable this cruise control we just need to enable Sticky keys, (maybe there is some sort of tutorial but I couldn't found)

To enable sticky keys we need to head into the Accessibility area of windows 10 and enable the Sticky Keys feature.

This feature will make the ship go to booster mode not normal speed

Help! (Unexplained texture bugs) [Bug]

Hello!

I've been having this problem occurring more and more frequently in the last few days. When I load up the game every texture will be either discoloured/dark or straight up rainbow and glitchy looking, especially on ships, people and equipment. I have tried validating game files on steam because usually that works and restarting my PC but the problem seems to be getting worse as one restart would usually fix it but now it's permanent so far, even after multiple game and PC restarts. Have fiddled with graphics settings (They were already set to the lowest settings to save my PC from overheating before this problem occurred). In addition to this my graphics cards are all up to date and the game is set to run on my Nvidia graphics card automatically. My PC isn't old either and it's fairly powerful so am confused about where this issue is suddenly coming from. Nothing I have tried seems to work and I'm a little too stupid to understand what the advice on steam forums means (Not very tech savvy you see).

It sounds like a pretty minute issue, but I personally find it really distracting and super annoying when I know a game isn't running properly or in a healthy way. If anyone has experienced the same bug or know what could be the problem please let me know as I do love this game and atm my unfortunate short temper when it comes to technology is getting the better of my playing experience.

Can Someone Please Explain How the Expeditions Game Mode Works [Question]

A friend and I logged in after not playing for a while and were excited to try expeditions, but we can't start the game mode. It just says "Expedition Complete" at the top and wont let us select it.

HelloGames has ZERO helpful information on how the expeditions work. They say that expeditions is a limited time thing, but I am having a hard time believing that people who are just now buying/returning to the game will never be able to play this game mode.

If that is the case, and there is no possible way to play expeditions after a certain date, then that's a really bad feature.

Can someone help me and explain how it works and why I cant start it?

All I have to say is wow! [Discussion]

So I rode the hype train extremely hard leading up to this game and bought it day 1 back in 2016. Man was I disappointed. I set it in my shelf to collect dust and haven’t touched it until 2 days ago. I got a PS5 recently and was browsing the games that I owned already and there was No Man’s Sky with “PS5 Upgrade” underneath the logo. I was extremely surprised to see this. I knew the game has come a long way from it’s potato stages in the beginning but a full upgrade for PS5 made me double take; much larger AAA games that you would expect haven’t had a full fledged PS5 update. So I started the download because what the heck.

I am absolutely blown away. Not only is it absolutely gorgeous, but I am completely sucked in. There is so much to do and I love it. What an amazing job Hello Games has done to turn this game around, and I’m actually feeling what all that hype was for 5 years ago.

Stasis Device not worth it? [Question]

So after making an activated indium farm i heard abouth the stasis device as the best way to make money. However i just saw a video abouth a guy explaining that he can make 300 mil a day.very easy and while fun at first, he is now at the money cap of 4+ billion. And so basicly the whole point of making money is gone. He cant get richer and cant spent anything realy. Apart from the freighter quests (wich cost like 20 mil a day max). So im kinda hessitant to start my own stasis device farm. The build sounds like fun but it will be useless after a vew days...if i save up than in exactly 13 days money has become capped and the farm will be useless. The guy ends the video saying he wish he never build it. Does anyone else here feel the same?

Questions from a newish player [Question]

So I made it to the center of the galaxy, and it spit me out in the next galaxy right next to the center again. So I just jumped to Calypso (galaxy 3) immediately, and now I’m in the center of it as well. Is this normal? I’m not using glyphs or anything. ( I haven’t even completed MSQ ) Seems odd it wouldn’t send me to the edge to travel all over again.

Also, I’ve been trying to find an S class ship. I’ve been searching the wealthy economies but not much luck. Is there some trick or am I just gonna have to bow to RNGsus?

Very poor performance in VR using relatively high-end hardware. Can anyone help? [Question]

Hello all!

After everyone started boycotting Elite Dangerous: Odyssey, I was looking for a new VR space sim and decided to try No Man's Sky while it was on sale. However, I encountered sickening performance during the intro screen and constant, intense stuttering/tearing while looking around on the initial planet.

Specs:

Ryzen 7 3700x 8-Core

Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070

16 GB 3600 MHz CL-16 Memory

Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVME SSD

Oculus Quest 2 headset via official Oculus Link cable set to 4864 x 2448 pixels in the Oculus client

It should also be noted that I was able to play other intensive VR games like Half Life: Alyx and Elite Dangerous with the same setup and at medium-high settings without issue.

If you need any more info to make an informed suggestion, please ask.

The Situation & What I've Tried:

I completely cleared my PC of all processes except for Steam, the Oculus client, Voice Control Engine (whatever that is), various lighting softwares which had negligible impact, and necessary background processes. I then entered the SteamVR home environment and launched the game from there. Performance in the main menu was fine, but I encountered the aforementioned performance problems afterwards. I then tried lowering the resolution multiplier in the Steam menu to around 80%, which seemed to help fairly significantly but was below my preferred resolution. I also set the graphics settings from all "Enhanced" to "Standard" which had a slight improvement. Interestingly, when I closed the game and returned to SteamVR Home, the performance was extremely poor, taking multiple seconds per frame and with extreme screen tearing, which might mean something. After that, I did a quick search for fixes and tried tweaking the logical processors settings in the file TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.VR. I have 16 logical processors...

Starships [Question]

I have several S class Starships and one has all of my technology while the others I just bought because I felt like it. How do I know which one is the best so I can reinvest tech into it. Is there good starting stats to consider? My Tech ship has Damage potential 236.2, Shield Strength 196.7, Hyperdrive Strength 394.4, Maneuverability 404.9. Does class matter? Meaning Shuttle etc. I have one Exotic but I don't really like it but if it is the best I will use it.

I really, really like the aesthetics of the hose muzzle rifle multitool and really want one, ideally higher grade but even C would work since its the aesthetic I am going for here. (I want one looking like the picture above)

The First Traveler Mission. [Discussion]

It says missions is in another system but every time I go into the Galaxy map, I can't seem to find the system the mission is I'm.

I have well over 300 hours in NMS but I was wanting to do the story line some more.
