how do you start a "skybase"?

It helps to start by finding an electromagnetic field from which to extract power. Then, use building frames to go as high as the planetary sky box will allow you to build.

You can build way outside of the base area

300u is the normal limit, if memory serves, and 1000u if you use power lines/lights to build farther away

Put a light every 30u or so to where you want to go. Lights are cheap to build. You don't really have to connect them to power - it just looks nicer

I used "Cylindrical Room Frames" to build up. Add one, jump up, add one, jump up. I keep doing that until I can go no higher, delete a few room frames, then build. Try not to fall, though, or you have to start over. And deleting everything is a pain - so is adding power lines from the ground to the sky

It took me about two hours to get power from the ground base to the sky outpost because I didn't add it as I built up. I had to build back to the ground in order to add power.

You just can't move your build camera outside of the bubble you took a screenshot of.

There was the possibility of running into ugly ass planets you hate it and wanted to leave immediately and planets that were beautiful that you loved but it all depended on each player's point of view. Now every f****** planet looks the same they're all pretty but there's no ugly there's no variation and it weakens the exploration of this game

All you new players want is multiplayer and basebuilding shit. And finding 'home' the same boring lush world.
