My research into alternatives to energy drinks continues.

I tried a powder formula recently. It's pretty neat, you take a scoop from a jar, mix with water and you are done. Portion contains vitamins, extracts and similar amount of caffeine as a can of Monster.

However, probably due to anti-caking agents and other additives which probably don't dissolve well in water, it leaves a chalky feeling in the mouth (non-dissolvable parts create a suspension; waiting before drinking helps a bit). The taste is also off; it has a weird tang to it.

Today tablets I ordered arrived. Packaging is fancy. Again, vitamins and a monster worth of caffeine. Take one and drop it in water, wait. They take a long while to dissolve, but after they are done they taste surprisingly well.

No weird after taste, like the one you get with those fizzy vitamin tablets. I could absolutely enjoy drinking this.

This flavour I think is supposed to be similar to regular energy drink but imo it's better, not as sweet, more subtle.

There are other flavours but with much lower caffeine content unfortunately.

Note: I thought it would fizz more after being dropped in water, but it's kinda tame

Next time I'll just drop one into a small insulated water bottle

I mean, they are rather cheap, with less than one euro per cube. They work well, they dissolve in like less then 10min and rhey taste well

One flavour of 160mg caffeine or I have to drop down to 90mg of caffeine for a couple of others

Waterdrop as a product seems to be focused on being a wellness diatery supplement. Only few of them have any caffeine

I can't put my finger on what exactly, but I feel like something is missing. Other than flavour verity.

I'm mainly looking for high caffeine content and nice fruity flavour.

I drink Monster energy drinks, but I've drunk them for a long time, and even though there is some flavor variety, I'm getting bored of what is easily available where I am. I could get more flavors, some I haven't drunk before, but it isn't really a good economic option.

Normally a can of Monster is under €2 (currently at around €1.80 per can in Carrefour) at most supermarkets. Flavours they don't usually have in stock can be found online, at gas stations, small shops but the price goes above 2€ per can. Not a problem if I get some once in a while, but not really an economic option for my daily drink.

I've tried Linux Mint before, I've mentioned it here in one of my random rambles. I think it's the fastest OS I've ever managed to install completely and test, and I was running it through a 64 GB USB drive. I think it was pretty good, it just had a recent update too. I didn't test that version, I didn't give that a try, but yeah, it would definitely be my second choice OS if I wasn't already using and enjoying Debian Trixie.

If you ever get the itch to try again, I saw a few things in the forums that might fix both the NVIDIA and WiFi stuff at once. Usually, you just have to disable Secure Boot in BIOS so the drivers aren't blocked. Then you can run these two to make sure the kernel headers are there for the drivers to 'stick' to:

​sudo dnf install kernel-devel kernel-headers

sudo akmods --rebuild --force

​No pressure though, just figured I’d pass it along since I was already looking!

I honestly haven't had issues with them once they're set up. For me, the only 'problem' was needing a custom fan curve script since Linux doesn't always handle NVIDIA thermals perfectly out of the box. As long as you install them via the right repos and check your journalctl for startup errors, it's pretty solid. It’s like a remote control car that comes without batteries, you just have to put the batteries in yourself by tweaking the config files and repos. Usually, if mine breaks, it’s because I was poking around where I shouldn't have been!

Don't let the initial headache fool you, Linux works great once you're over the hill. It’s just a learning curve coming from Windows. Believe me, I’ve messed up the basics too, I once spent forever just trying to format a USB correctly, and I’ve had to nuked an entire install before because I forgot to backup. It happens! It’s a bit of a climb at first, but it’s a smooth ride once you get the hang of it.

I have a cheap $200 snow blower I've had for years. I bought a small generator to plug it into so I could make it more portable, but the generator doesn't have the amperage.

So I got a generator I can use for maybe a space heater or cook top if shit hits the fan and the power dies

I was dealing with mold and later with cockroaches at the time

in part of Germany where i live, the air is very moist and mold is a huge issue here, pretty much in every house

And when we moved in the new apartment, there appeared couple cocroaches, but probably because apartment was emty for a while, and probably those were type of cocroaches that lives outside and they just came here because it was emty apartment

(at least i hope so... so far haven't seen any, and i hope we won't)
