What I love about the Spanish language is, "amiga" (friend) is a completely different word from "novia" (girlfriend). In the English language it feels weird trying to distinguish female friend from female romantic companion when you say "girl friend / girlfriend"

I guess so, super weird. Similar deal with the word "love" in the English language. In Spanish, there's greater distinction in the types of love. "Amar" vs "querer". You use "querer" for friends, "amar" for romantic type of love, or a very very strong type of love between mother and child I guess
