From the forefront of developing recently; I set out to make a "Cozy Survival Game with options for players to embark on danger if they like"... but feel like it just feels... a loop of just, collect resources without danger - because the overworld has no [dangerous] storms, temperature, weather, etc.

one can set difficulty sliders in ms now to have no damage, if desired (and previously, there was creative mode), so the question to me is more, what will the visuals, the theme, the mood be? will there be lore, a story? what sort of things will one discover?

nms has this sort of existential dread lore, post-galactic war setting, and the whole thing is set to collapse in some period of time; it also aims to capture the 1970's pulp scifi feel in its visuals. what do you want to do?

A lot of the way a games world speaks to you is in the language of motivations. A world torn apart: Why? What happened? Are there survivors? Do I need them to survive? Should I? etc

Then you find out as you're saving the survivors of this world torn apart that the survivors you've been attacking for attacking this lot are actually the victims of the original tyrants of the world whose descendants became the survivors you're protecting...The war that saw their ancestors destroy the world is long over, but vengeance has a long half life and hatred is multigenerational

Yeah, a friend of mine swears off of all anime because 'weebs' and 'they all have 1000 episodes' and all that, but swears by Edgerunners, Avatar TLA and LOK

Done what I can to try and convince him that the only difference between those, and anime, is that you don't have to read to watch them.

Literally has TLA merch and rewatches it every two years or so. Tried to tell him about Fullmetal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, etc.

Going from Kaioken, to SS+, you actually do get stronger, which is cool. Later DBZs give you like, one transformation, and they're all equal. So Goten going SS is as strong as Goku going super saiyan blue or white or whatever.

For competitive stuff, yeah this makes total sense, for story stuff, nah. In Budokai 3 you can choose whether you want it competitive or not though, which I can appreciate.
