What parts make up the bottom part that sticks out to the rear?
The walkway? Or the big part?
Kind of looks like a walkway perhaps, its flat looking.
Yeah the Walkway, it's 2 reinforced hulls? The long ones and then a speedbird cowling
Only suggestion I would give is to either putting some more meat on the tail or reducing some bulk from the top of the cockpit.

Hello everyone I’m quite new on this server and I have a question about corvette build
I bet this question is asked quite a lot but I’ll ask anyway :)
when I’m building a corvette and I want to use offset placement techniques/rotation techniques is it dangerous for my save file, do I run the risk of corrupting it? Or is it ok to use them (just to be extra clear I’m not talking about the glitch build where you can put portals or other base parts in your corvette)

Worst thing that can happen is your corvette getting stuck with the "must connect all parts" warning for no apparent reason, but that can happen anyway

i was fighting with this glitch on PS5 for hours, i can't get the window in this position at all. Because it always says out of base. I tried so many glitches vertically on my corvette as well as base parts on it... nothing works for me idk what i'm doing wrong.

if you fill up more modules and upgrades than the slots can handle, it will free up some slots
look for planets with "salvageable scrap" and scan for salvage containers

Getting corvette parts isn't actually that hard. I braced myself for an awful grind, but it turned out to be very reasonable.
Every time you scan a planet, you get a list of resources that spawn there. Look for any planet that has 'salvageable scrap'. Most star systems have at least one.
Land, scan, and look for 'salvage containers'. Have your terrain manipulator ready, they're usually underground. They're a lot like buried technology, but you shoot them with a mining laser or some other weapon to harvest them.
You'll get random corvette parts from this. You don't have to pray to RNGesus to get cool stuff, you can trade all the corvette parts you don't want, for corvette parts you do want, at any space station corvette terminal.
the trading system is really weird, sometimes you can get it even with like 53% chance sometimes you can't
Don't be afraid to click the trade button and see if it executes even at way lower probabilities. It costs 'nothing' to attempt a low-probability trade & fail. I've had >20% chance trades succeed. Just not all that often.

That's a good point, you can do planetary scans while standing inside of your corvette. But if you don't have a corvette, you will probably need to land.

There's specific foods you can bake that will give you 10mil average upon scanning animals an plants
When on a planet, scan stuff with your visor an you get unit's for it, some foods boost it, try google for better explanation
you can use this command !faq-units in #nms-commands for a short faq on how to earn units
You can get even more if you supercharge your scanner upgrades

What is the smallest corvette possible to build that you can't see any of the parts when in the hab/walkway?
Max Corvette Parts is 100(Switch is 40) so you'd want to to look at your FPS and hopefully it doesn't drop too far down.
The more there is to draw on screen means more work for the GPU which will most likely drop your FrameRate.
There is no current way to go over the max 100 parts without modding or using the non corvette parts like base decorations to make the ship the shape you want.
as far as modding I'd ask in the modding channel; or when ever Zycrom reads this channel but i don't think modding would delete parts unless you choose to.
You can turn corvette crafting to free in the difficulty options and it'll give you 99.99% of teh parts to use
@loud summit I use 3 supercharged slots to get 4000+ manoeuvrability, with X Pulsoreactor technologie almost max.
With Photonix Core and Tentacled Figurine (don't have yet), guys reach 6000+
no it wont ever delete your parts
ive flown a 1.2k parts corvette
only dropped by like 15-20 fps
But if you ever go overboard
Your game will just crash
and dont ever log out with your corvette as your main ship
but i'd say try 400 parts for your benchmarking since if you go to the anomaly, there would be 400 parts at least

Cockpits are the same stat as the reactor
So if you have 3 medusas, only 2 will show up bcs the cockpit has the same stat as them
So if you want 3 medusas and no cockpit

Scanning with food that give flora analysis reward boosts and a royal multitool modded for flora analysis reward
The pic is a bit old I'm close to 1.3 billions now
But yeah in the 10 minutes the food boost was Active you can get around 250/300 millions if you're fast enough
Even 400 millions if you get lucky

Flying base, it can also hover like a sentinel spaceship and you can get off your seat and walk around in it while hovering and you can scan your surroundings from within the corvette

I'm a total corvette noob, but I know they can get very strong with X/S class modules
6 phase beams turrets deal funny damage
I think every type of ship have their pros and cons
After building or modifying you will need to shuffle the tech around to make it optimal.
And while they are pretty strong there may be cases where the regular ships will be used instead. On my main save where I did a lot of flying around in a planets atmosphere I used a sentinel interceptor for that since they can go the fastest that way.
If you make a habit of hopping through the center of galaxies keep a regular ship for that, don't break your corvette.
I did break mine on my first galaxy hop, that was fun 😅
Fortunately I'm an absolute pack rat and was able to fix it up
I didn't want to find out what was all required, the core techs are bad enough on a regular ship.

Just the upgrade modules, not the corvette parts
I think they protected the parts on purpose
I could have repaired just the engines and launch thrusters and it would have been a functional ship
the number of beams seems to max out at 8 in total, each phase beam mount shoots 2 beams each, though the more of em you have mounted does still seem to upgrade the damage

if you install a shitload of weapons a lot of them just seem to be decorative
and never fire, and then which of ur guns actually shoot becomes sorta random
If youre minmaxing, I think doing like 4 mounts and then adding high damage boosting normal mods on top is probably superior, but its quite good without trying to fool with minmaxing
ive not tested the limits on it though, im sure theres some wacky things you can do, like you can with a lot of corvette stuff

Only on corvettes, but corvettes have a lower baseline agility than most ships, so while the number looks high it isn't as impressively agile as one might think
The corvette only pieces don't really have all that impressive stats, but they can provide considerable adjacency bonuses for the real modules that all ships have access to

been making a trench from the waste plant to the scrap yard but its miles and miles and miles

Got sick of looking at the storage units (junk pile) in the thunderbird habs on my one save so swapped to ambassador habs, and switched out the other ones to the titan.
I prefer the look of the titan refiners over the ambassador ones but guess I now have what looks like a couple for clean room assembly of stuff and the rest for good old industrial refining.
It is on my abandoned mode save. I spend a lot of time in it. I want something I can tolerate not hate.
Anyone tried to have a Corvette Meet or tried having multiple people with corvettes in the same area outside of the anomaly? Like is it doable or to laggy
Yes, there's been a lot of them. I don't think anyone is doing them weekly anymore though, interest has died down a bit. It wasn't ideal though. Some ships never loaded in properly and others could take quite long to load.
all my interior modules disappeared I had 3 stacks of microprocessors in a cargo thing

Ambassador ones are mostly white inside, the storage containers kind of look like neat lockers, and the refiner has the robotic arms and looks all high tech.
Titan looks more like the inside of a ships hull.
Do we gain something from using a corvette instead of a normal ship ? I feel like they are way slower and TAKES A LOT OF MONEY, to be good

Thunderbird hab refiners dont look too bad either, but the storage rack looks like someone threw a bunch of boxes, crates, and some odd device on some shelves and called it a day. I just hated how they looked.
Titan storage units are better but look like tanks for holding gas/liquids, so wasn't really what I wanted either.
yep, but I have seen people make some real fast ones with the right upgrades. I make mine like flying apartment buildings, with all the bells and whistles, and enough jump range to barely out jump my freighter on the star map
you know, I run Thunderbird habs and sometimes the game thinks it's a titan hab and I get the titan storage and not the TBird ones
Mine I use mostly for refiners and storage, and typically more rounded in stats.
It shines a bit more in abandoned mode because the parts add a lot of the upgrade power that replaces the reliance on modules that you will struggle to find for a regular ship.
I haven't seen that happen on mine, I know the habs themselves aren't too different from each other unless you really look.
I though it would be more noticeable in mine after swapping habs out but it really wasn't.
The buildable bits inside look a lot different though.
does anyone know why i am no longer able to place more vertically glitched parts here? for some reason it stops right here no matter what i do and i dont really want to go through the process of glitching another time
I don't know much but it could be that you might have run out of parts or it might not have any valid connection points due to it being too close to another part
im in creative so its not out of parts
the entire design is semetrical too, so the connection point shenangians are the same for the first two i placed
quick tip dont leave the game while auto pilot in low planet orbit XD
okay i just repeated the glitch farther towards the bow of the ship, and the same error is happening even with a freshly glitched window

On one hand I want to make a ship that isn't like, a dart or flying wing. On the other hand those designs do look pretty cool.
Any ideas for like, a sleek ship design that isn't just a dart?
I guess one consideration as well is that the more you depart from a rectangle, the more awkward navigation is. Like, AFAIK you can't rotate hab modules 45 degrees, so a flying wing would suck to walk around
Also, since corvette parts seem to take up the same space as technology modules, is there any way to upgrade that inventory space? In Expy 19 it's only letting me use my inventory upgrades on the cargo space

The B2 is what I think of when I think flying wing, but also flying wings seem annoying to navigate internally. With a dart, the internals would basically be like, a cross shape which is a lot more convenient

And, even then, my interior layouts tend to be rather convoluted
Each class only lets you upgrade to a certain point, with S class maxing out at 60 tech slots
That's fair. Utilitarian ships can look cool too, as can unique designs, but I feel that utilitarian doesn't really fit the soft-scifi vibe NMS has going for it, at least personally
I've tried vertical glitch in the normal game, and it doesn't let me do it in space. I've tried it in creative mode, and that still works....

Corvette class is upgraded by paying nanites at the starship scrap/upgrade terminal in space stations
Since all corvettes start at c class, getting to s class (at standard price difficulty) costs 85k nanites
Those are pretty sleek, especially the second one tbh.
The first one just makes me want landing pad parts again so I can make an aircraft-carrier style ship x3
Landing pads and airlocks would be nice additions. As would be not having opening one door open every door lol

Also, I heard that Corvette turrets max out at 6, if this is the case, is that 6 firing, 6 built at all, etc? I did hear that the Corvette turret mechanics do make the Phase Laser the best turret tho since all 6 fire at the same time instead of taking turns
I suppose, yea. You can land a starfighter on a freighter but you also can't like, directly fly the freighter around
Realistically it would be nice to carry your starfighter around, but since you can summon them from anywhere that's not really needed
6 firing, I believe, though more can be placed with bonuses to different weapons systems (at the cost of crowding out tech space of course)
Alright. I originally was thinking 3 on top, 3 on bottom (imagining a blade- shape ship), but then changed my plans to 6 on top and 6 on bottom so that I can have 6 firing no matter where I'm firing at (like if they're above or below me)

Only flaw is assuming that turret placement affects firing arc. It would in other games, but not in nms
You can completely hide a turret and still have it fire just fine

its just that i enlarged the landing bay to cover the back side
My first couple on my main save were probably more of flying factories than daily drivers since I didn't use them much, ps5 and abandoned mode on PC ones are similar and designed with all storage boxes in certain habs, and refiners, plus a couple nutrient processors.

The first screenshot looks similar in layout to my latest couple except everything is standard size.

that ship also just has pretty standard sized parts, but i made the whole interior hollow
so i just decided to make the landing bay big so it would actually feel like a cargo ship of some sorts
Because a small bay just wont look right
The interior on that is probably the width of the main parts of mine since they are 3 habs wide.
I was using one on mine but it seemed kind of low for shield, swapped it out with a different one that had a better %.

One of the other shield generators, got it out of a scrap box. It's the one that looks like a ball on a base, similar shape to the atlas one but older.

i don't think you can alter the size of corvette parts
you can't normally free-move (as in without snapping), rotate or scale corvette parts but you can using the blender addon
All mine were built with no mods or anything special.

you go up to the starship outfitting terminal at the back of a space station and upgrade the class using nanites

10k nanites to upgrade to B class, 25k nanites to upgrade to A class and 50k nanites to upgrade to S class.

you're talking about defense field, my corvette uses 4 of them under the main hull +2 Aerons anymore overloads the shields

Its S Class with max inventory/Tech slots and a 2600ly Jumprange^^

Used all i had till it said i dont get any perks from more of them, for the jump range i did the same with the reactors and sclass upgrades in supercharged slots

When you go out with your coloosus on a dissonant planet go mainly for the crystals and the towers to refine the ftuff into nanites, scrap isnt worth that much anymore sadly

quickest way to get the nanites is your ship tho just shoot everything with weapons that do high splash damage

On dissonant planets there are big Purple crystals that you can farm and refine into nanites, also theres big walking towers with flags wich you can also mine and refine into nanites
Crystal refines into 50 nanits and the other thing into 95 per piece
Atlantadium, special crystals that can be used in many funny things can be put in a special machine called a refiner which can turn those special crystals into nanites these tiny machines you can trade for lots of fun things

But they also can give you echo locators wich will be usefull later in the story
the best way to get atantadium per second because long run thats going to be giving you the greatest source of nanites long term compared to radiant shards and inverted mirrors
just refine atlantideum into pugneum then into nanites
you can also do the same with runaway mould
But the refining process is tideous since you have to regine a lot of it and into pugneum first
and while thats refining you can be shooting the atlantideum using your ship to farm more then drop the pugneum into your refiner then keep flying around farming for more as it refines into nanites then repeat
while its less per pop its more efficant

On the planet i am radiant shard crystals spawn in a very large number, so atleast for my sphaera divitiarum as i called the planet, that doesnt apply, but if that isnt the case your right

800 atlantideum is 2500 estimated pugneum so its pretty effiecant especially if you're just using your ship to farm

you can farm 80% of common matirials from the saftey of your ship's cockpit
i highly reccomend a sentinal ship or corvette with nose mounted cannons and a thermal load cannon because of how much splash damage it does

thats just that planet, some planets can get you 100k ferite in 15 mins, good for base building

Do atlantideum and pugneum in a refiner to make runaway mould, then refine that.
1 A + 1P = 3 mould.
Probably what it is, has a couple smaller shield generators over top of the zenith reactors since they sort of match the cap.
Most of the shield parts add something until you hit the max on functioning parts, and typically the shields are strong enough for anything you might encounter.
I just thought it odd the % one part gave over another was rather a big difference.
Is it better to build a corvette than hunt for a good ship
Depends on what you're after, really
A Corvette has more functionality (and damage output with phase beams) than normal starships, but sometimes the point is finding something awesome, in which case starships (especially sentinel interceptors and exotics) are the way to go
Also most starships are a bit faster than corvettes, at least in atmosphere (especially interceptors)
A corvette can function as a sort of mobile base, but as far as ships go they do behave somewhat like a hauler.
In atmosphere speed is on the low end even pushing a lot of upgrades.
The max tech slots at S is 60 which is the same as regular ships but with a ton more modules shoved in that area.

you first need corvette parts, if you don't have any you can buy some basic ones from the terminal in a space station
those basic parts will cost about 12-15 million, depending on how basic you go
getting more corvette parts is also easiest done, but not only done, in a corvette

ok, here's a short tutorial:
- place down a landing gear
- place down one or more habitation modules on top of the landing gear
- place down a cockpit at the front
- place down a landing bay at the rear
- place down at least one reactor
- place down at least one thruster
That is the minimum you need to do
The rest is up to you.

Note that as with all corvettes, it might start out looking nice, but it won't operate nice because many of the corvette parts occupy upgrade slots. They do add small bonuses, so they're not completely useless, but upgrade-wise a corvette starts out with a big handicap compared to a ship you get elsewhere.
When people ask for those aeron parts, does the "giver" have to give up their only copy of those, or did they get the blueprint so they can build more to give away for materials?
I know I can craft additional ones by pressing E, but I can't see a blueprint for crafting from scratch (unless I'm blind)

Ahh, I see what I was missing, a player with the aeron blueprint can just make more when editing a corvette, even if they have 0 currently. I was an idiot and was trying to create it in my inventory, because I noticed that I can craft additional that way.

I had one aeron drive, I added two and removed both, now I have two aeron drives
ok, so you can in effect "duplicate" how many you want of those parts? so if I ask someone for a number of them, it's just materials, not something that one gives up permanently

nm I figuer it out. I just switched the hab into a walkway and that made enough space
You can use a simple 180 rotation to put two blocks in the exact same spot. If you need even more you can also do up to 3 additional blocks inside the same block through 90 degree rotations (yes, two 90 degree rotations can still go inside a 180 rotated block, it may add up to 180 but it is not the same. There are pinned videos to show how to rotate things. The 180 rotation is super easy, but it does get harder if you want even more.
Actually, now that I think about it you can probably put an infinite number of blocks inside the same space through continous 90 degree rotations. I don't think it is likely to ever add up to a full rotation.
