I couldn’t bring all my corvette parts back from the expedition so I just stacked them on top of each other and then pulled them off after I got back.
I also duplicated my corvette so I took all the parts off the less upgraded one, and now I have a ton of parts.
I like didn’t sleep to get this all done because of work so I will be making my new one in a few days. I hope we get a few weeks until the next expedition…

Overall it feels pretty decent but there's a number of small issues that sure would bother me. Things like there being stuff in the way of the cockpit and how the corners of your lower hab are fully visible. There are gaps that seem a bit unnecessary too, maybe plug those up? It also looks unbalanced, you'd just flip over forwards if those propellers actually had an effect and you turned them on. I don't think that a spaceship has to necessarily be fully aerodynamic but being halfway there feels awkward.

Yeah, the body is the same design as before, unfortunately. I have no idea how to make a proper body that doesn't look like a bare rectangle, or complete and utter ass. Maybe I should move the engines to the back of the ship, and probably make wider hammerhead somehow. I checked, and there's no way to make a proper vertical hammerhead, sadly

How do upgrade modules work on corvettes? Seems like i can store some modules that were part of the build without it affecting the ship visually. Should, say, guns be removed from the upgrade inventory in favor of s class upgrades or is that no good?

Corvette upgrades stack with normal ship upgrades. Normal ship upgrades of s class or better are more powerful then the corvette pieces, so place the corvette pieces around the s/x class upgrades to empower them with more adjacency

you could use those flat panels from the base building menu but I personally dont like them on corvettes
i think the glitch was mostly for make it a dorito angle. One idea is to just make it big enough that, in comparison, one block is thinner in proportion to everything else

The zenith reactors stick out; i would move those atlas/aeron cowlings behind them over it or find another way of covering them up a bit
I like the reactors sticking out usually but I agree that the zeniths don’t work well on this build. I’ll give that suggestion a try and see how it plays out thanks for the feedback !
A little late, but the ability to apply color to the whole corvette has also doubled the number of available colors. Just select colorable decor item while in corvette build mode and apply that color to the whole corvette to get access to much brighter colors like this one

That said, you can't really do it while it flies somewhere, because while you can turn on autopilot in space and have the ship travel there on its own, that really won't last long enough for you to have time for more than run to the chair and sit. The ship will be at your destination before you've had time to enjoy it. It does however work just fine for target-less autopilot in atmosphere. You can sit there and watch the scenery go by.

I would disagree with this point to some extent. The system I call home has a planet just far enough from the space station where I can sit for a comfortable minute or two and enjoy the view but I will agree it does have its limitations

I will say my planet is far from the space station so no matter the speed I’m still taking a solid 45-60 seconds to get there. I did choose this system for that very reason tho

I just tested it, the longest distance in my current solar system takes about 4 second to traverse. There's probably systems with longer distances but it doesn't seem like enough time to relax

Jeez that’s a small system, my home system is pretty decent in size and I chose the farthest planet from the space station. I do agree though that usually you’re not getting much free time in the autopilot mode

I really think it's more of a case of an upgraded corvette. But I'll hop around a few systems to see if I can find something with bigger distances
Maybe, I have a lot of fully upgraded ships and it still takes a minute for me to travel in my system
maybe if you remove upgrades it will last longer

It's also possible to just execute an aimless autopilot straight out into nothing. But that won't put you in pulse drive

You can, but not with autopilot so it keeps going when you leave your seat

i hid in someone's corvette so theyd kidnap me but when the took of my character didnt move with the ship and just sat in the air and the ship was gone
Ah, you're right. The regular autopilot menuwith the maintain heading command will prevent pulse drive but there's nothing preventing me from engaging the pulse drive manually and using the stand up command to leave it running
Yeah I usually pulse drive and just leave seat it’s how I test if my inside of the corvette is worth it
You know, I never did do a test flight to see if my ship could still fly with all the stuff I put in it. I should probably do that later tonight. And fix my tech slots if I remember.

highly recommend looking online at glitch building tutorials online, they allow you to do a lot of cool stuff and use parts you wouldnt have been able to before, like flipping certain parts when you couldnt before
or moving things by a half step so you can be more precise

Is building corvettes expensive
It can be. You can either buy from a limited selection of parts, or salvage all your parts from planets with salvageable scrap. So you either use a lot of units or time. You can also just turn off crafting costs and build for free

Ive got a bunch of units from buying cheap ships and breaking them down for scrap for more money
Not at all, you can get all pieces for free by going to any world with salvage. But if you want to pay for all the parts to get one up and running immediately, the total cost is something like 6-8 million units

A quick and dirty corvette will probably cost about 7-10 mil depending on what you do
Do I have to build the parts with materials
If you do have 8 millions lying around, I do recommend buying the parts to get a corvette going quickly, because having a corvette makes salvage many times faster. You can get something close to one part every 10-30 seconds by bombarding salvage planets from the air

It’s so stupid how the game is the same price on Nintendo but it’s missing so much
creative with a mod to increase the part limit, however im gonna switch it back to survival once im done building and upgrade it to s class and resume my run of the game
Early in the game it may be expensive, but once you have one, it becomes very easy to farm parts on planets (because you can just have the ship hover in a spot, hop out and use your visor to mark the next salvage, and shoot it from your ship to collect it, rinse and repeat)
Is buying nms on pc after already having it on Nintendo but wanting to build corvettes and expeditions and multiplayer worth it?

honestly i would just for expeditions and multiplayer alone
i imagine theyd add corvettes to the switch version but nintendo is also a D tier company and i wouldnt be surprised if they didnt just to fuck consumers over lmao
still however, expeditions are really great, and its also very nice to share the universe with other players in multiplayer and do missions together and stuff
not to mention expeditions are going to be giving new exclusive corvette parts (like the last one we just had)

Is too much maneuverability and reactors a bad thing in a smaller to mid corvette? I’m trying to decide if I should build a vette with 12 reactors. I’ve seen a few builds out there like that. But I also really like some other designs that have fewer reactors. One main concern is that I don’t want to lose the ability to fight pirate ships with a clunky, less maneuverable ship.
Too high of a maneuverability is absolutely a bad thing. I've seen people say that after a certain point, it gets janky. Like, randomly spin out janky

I’m not sure. I think it’s 3 per style. I’m pretty new to building. I’ve seen builds out there say they are 12 reactor builds but maybe they are incorrectly built.

So is there a consensus on around how many reactors a typical small to mid corvette should have to be able to hold its own with pirate ships?
One? With combat the thing is more having a full stack of upgrade modules on your shields & weapons (like any other starship). Reactor buffs are nice to have, but they're hardly make-or-break. You can easily get by with one.
Depends on how many you're willing to have. The Medusa and ceto are the best for combat since they increase manoverability and shields

How do the strength/utility of corvettes compare to the legacy ships? I have a maxed out S class sentinel ship and I’m curious if I can achieve the same with a Corvette.
Two shots of the Very Confused Yellow Submarine. I rebuilt her and added a degree of late 60s grooviness, clutter, and functionality. She's now has a flight deck to allow fighters, haulers, and explorers to land on her, lights to guide them and a restraining cable to catch any ship which comes in too low or too fast. She'll be fully updated with a true landing pad equipment piece once/if we gain the ability to land ships on ships in game. 🙂
I find they're functionally the same, if not potentially better if you stack reactors and such, but they do take more effort to get to that point in terms of getting the slots to fit all the stuff required
Corvettes compared to sentinel ships can also hover entirely still in-atmosphere, but you also never actually have to land, and you can carry storage and refineries with you
Gotcha. As far as min/maxing speed and damage, are there certain SC layouts to “roll” for, or certain modules you need to stack?

But you can also then add 3 phase beam turrets, 3 of each reactor if you really wanted etc etc
I will be weary though, the guns actually shoot from where you place the turrets, so it is worth considering that if you want a tight cluster of shots

the engines are all one pool in that regard
Technically they are ranked with classes so you want to place your best class engines first
Same with shield generators, hab units, and walkways. Cockpits also share their bonuses with medusa reactor
Great question, IIRC corvettes have a bonus to maneuverability, whereas the small ships have bonuses elsewhere. In addition, corvettes can stack up to 3 of each type of tech piece in their tech slots, in addition to upgrades. The small ships only get to put in upgrades. It'a a bit more complicated than that but you get the drift...
Again, you need a lot of slots to fit it all

The strength of corvettes Vs ships can't really directly compared due to how different their tech choices are, especially with the phase beam bug
You will need like billions of units or a lot of storage augmentations stockpiled
or just turn on creative tools and purchase them if the grind is not your style

As long as the phase beam exist, corvette will always be better in combat than any other starship due to the damage on a fully powered phase beam on corvettes

I think explorers will still win Vs corvette for hyperdrive range, but that's probably the smallest thing to have advantage over any other starship, otherwise it's storage is capped (corvette takes its base stat off haulers)
My corvette still has like 2000 ly range which is absolutely a useable amount lol
with regards to phase beams... the damage also hits all at once. It's a combination of three turrets and burst damage. Everything melts
In terms of numbers, corvette has fairly strong shields, which also plays into their phase beam, but it doesn't matter too much since most starships can kill anything and everything when fully upgraded anyway, corvettes just have a potential to two shot them
And they have 6 hyperdrive range mods (3 zenith reactors and 3 S/x rank upgrades) instead of 3, so they should have fairly decent-ish range
But, I still like my cyclotrons because I like to stop my target, remove the shields, then finish off with the beams
Again, this is just the numbers, it also has a fully decorateable interior, you don't need to find valid landing spots to disembark, and it has all your storage right with you all the time

yeah. aeron ships have some natural bonuses. I thought about writing a FAQ on the different themes but decided against it. It'd ruin people's joy in experimenting.
I will check mine when I get home later, but I think my Manu isn't great my corvette, I don't like the parts gore so I don't usually like having many part, I may just rebuild my corvette later on to just make it as small as possible and glitch build everything into 4 hardpoints

just about. My Yellow submarine is a bit too tall and big so having 3.9K on her is like having 2.9 on a smaller, flatter corvette
the only hting i dont like about this corvette thing is the lack of rotation without glitches
I hope they make a bunch of the glitch building techniques into proper features
Personally, one thing I'd love to see arising from this discussion is someone comparing a fully developed sentinel small ship with a fully developed corvette. It'd answer a lot of question in folk's minds. Because Wynn isn't the only person who's wondered where small ships fall in the game now that NMS has corvettes.

i think the thing that can be added to improve corvette building is proper rotation, adjustable grids, internal wall editing allowing you to merge rooms, and possibly additional color options

Maybe a stretch but I'd be a big fan if they adopted the KSP style of building where we can place blocks and then offset and rotate them after the fact

You get the most use out supercharging the core for weapon systems, so if you're after maximizing the effect of each SC slot, it would be a 1+3 configuration. Though using all 4 for manoeuvrability is viable too, there aren't any enemies out there that can stand up against an upgraded weapon even without supercharging.
or have a 4 square or spike and have either a death lazer or 4k manuverability
Also important to remember its really nice to be able to hop out your corvette while its in the air and walk around in it. Lets you do things like use your analysis visor to mark salvage and then hop back into your ship to shoot and collect it without having to ever land or walk
stats wise and such theyre very similar but the corvette gives a ton more utility

I have a couple of fully maxed-out ships I enjoy playing with; found it a bit intimidating to develop a nice corvette at first though
Like anything, it takes some practice - but now the DONK is my preferrred ride, like having a mini-base along for the ride anywhere you go
And the teleport to/from a planet surface is super handy
yeah, the basic corvette in the breach was surprisingly convenient
so the limit is 3 of any reactor/ thruster or 3 of each type of reactor/ thruster?

hello im new to the server my best attempt on trying to build the Acquitens light cruiser from Star wars.
3 reactors is the max for a type. But you can place multiple types, each with 3 reactors. Weapons is the same, thrusters is just 3 regardless of what type you use

Everytime I find a corvette tutorial I like on YouTube it has parts I don’t have from previous expeditions
I’m stuck in a loop of trying to find a good corvette that my brain likes
I spent 2 hours copying a 1 hour video of this really cool corvette and when the wings were being done they pulled out an atlas ship part
It’s so draining trying to find a corvette I like especially when my style isn’t really possible in this game
It looked so cool but too bad I wont be able to make it for a very long time

So close to greatness! That lone slot would be so much nicer elsewhere though
Supercharged edge slots means you'd have to pick between full adjacency OR supercharging for one of your best upgrades. Ideally you want both.

It replaces your current corvette with the new one.
So it needs to detect the old corvette parts to remove them first to prepare the site for the new corvette.
If it cant detect parts, just create a new minimal thow away corvette and restart your game. Then it should work. Offical support on the other discord linked on that site

my 3rd or fourth time completing a corvette, wondering what suggestions or feedback people might have
also you need support Mod called BuildableShip 99999EXML(no engine effect limit), ColossalCorvettes (increase build distance), zCamera (better camera angle for corvette), and the station lighting is called zCorvette Station Lighting if you think the station is too dark.
corvette station lighting really helps but god i hate how blinding it is, wish they would turn it down

Yup. Most of the really insane ship builders use Blender outright. Others use the app, which is a barebones Blender, basically.
in blender you can rotate and scale the part with just easy move
yeah that sounds awesome
95% of my cruiser was done in-game because Blender feels too advanced for me to really dive into. But increasing the size of my weapons and squashing the hull was easy enough.
im familiar with the blender ui already so im probably gonna look into getting that setup
i wonder if theres any way i could import my existing corvette into it and then make edits from there
i dont use blender is because i dont know how much my pc can handle
With a save editor, you can download the JSON file and probably upload that to Blender. I know you can with the app because thats what it's for.
