Well. I now know what I must do: a big colony ship.
I have figured out how to get a half block offset for landing gear, which is shown in the video as well as moving parts to either side, but as far as evening out the sides, you have to combined a few methods of moving things and do multiple iterations with the benchy ship I use to get it even.
I was able to get offsets as small as this so far, but then I build my super dope ship. It needs more testing, as doing purley backwards offsets can bug the parking location of yourt ship. Mine is currently parked in a way that I exit the cockpit and go out a roof ladder and boom im right at the teleport pad. Its a bit farther back than other ships.

as you can see my ship is too far back, but I have roof access so this ship isnt negativley affected. I can imagine with only rear access it may be annoying for people who spend a long time building ships.
so.. why does one of my wings not activate? is there a limit to 3 for active wing modules or am i making a rookie mistake? (i am losing my mind)
Yea most of my ships have center or forward access now
it is the number of wings total not just rockhopper ones. only 4 allowed before they break the engine affect. I stick with 2 rockhopper wings because they are buggy
I have had 4 work before but I had no other wing types on the ship

Remove all non-rockhopper wings and it should fix the ones you have on

wdym with big wings? you mean the big rock hopper wings? because removing those would (to me) ruin the style, unless there's a better design i could go for

no, I think one of my hab was offset
any of these count towards the wing cap in regards to the 4 wing max before the rockhoppers break
then it had a window, and then the thruster snapped to that

You can also accidentally offset your ship based on part density on either side when saved btw if you have broken offsets like that\

yes
it is linked to my profile. you can mess up your ship offset. I had the same issue with a 1/16 or so gap on one side of my earlier ship model

Wanting to make all of these (If you know you know)
I already sent it off, but I realized after the fact that maybe what I considered to be obvious wasn't necessarily what everyone thought. To me it feels like a bug that landing thrusters remain in the spaceflight configuration even when we leave our corvettes idle mid-air. I feel like the ideal state is the one that occurs seconds before landing.
Beeblebum has a video on how to get the ufo look so that may be useful

It may still have moved the ship. I place mine as far back as possible for ease of testing, but I have not explored it a ton.
Left and right offsets also can move it. Even a single wing or block to one side moves the model a bit

Is there a good “list” or something of the sort showing all corvette parts functional and cosmetic?
For cosmetics you have the terminal in game, it has pictures of all possible parts, even those you haven't obtained yet. Stats are a little more complicated because there seems to be some sort of randomness involved. I am getting the exact same numbers each time I put a certain part on but others are getting different numbers.
Yeah I sorta get that. If it's working like a VTOL aircraft then when it's floating the thrusters would be facing down. Also it'd probably look nicer lol
the ones on the page with the weapons are all functional. you can have three of each, but for shield gens you need to place one ion shield followed by 2 deflectors for max output and you can get three medusa reactors but you have to place them before the cockpit or it only counts 2.

Yeah like, I have no video making experience. I did get in contact with beeblebum and showed him how to do it. It's actually what my video was first made to do. So while I'll probably make something covering my method. Hopefully he has something cooking. He said he hopped on yesterday to do testing once I showed him my video. Good news is it works with habitat rotation and also works with rockhopper offsets as well as vent offsets making it really customizable if you set it up correctly.
I'll probably make something covering how to get even offsets from left to right since that was not in my first video.
tbh if you would've used obs to record your screen it would've been enough

It's all about the amount of parts from left to right. Too many on right side moves it left and too many on left side moves it right.

Yup. Landing gear and all. But you can place new landing gear and build the blocks back to save the offsets and rinse and repeat to get a lot of clipping potential. It's how I have 3 of everything in a single block. You can literally stack infinity if you want

Hell enough iterations and your ship could even be back parked right onto the shop platforms.

Definitely not what they used, but putting a bunch of lockers in a row worked pretty well for the arm. They scale, paint and rotate very well.

This right here. You can cut out aqua thrusters with this as well, since you dont need to land at any point in a corvette. just quick bind exit seat to something near the usual land button and bind land to something you will never press
That's also a great idea. But should I use a crane or mechanical arms for picking up junk or both?
I suppose it depends on what kind of size and what you imagine picking up. If your ship is collecting scrap you'd want a gripper, but if it's collecting dirt you'd want a scoop
white signs also have a flat texture so you cant see clipping issues when painted if that helps fill the locker gaps

What's funny is it is flying but I think because my base is raised up on these platforms it is still getting confused. It spawned it directly on top of my teleporter too.

My new huge corvette has 2238 maneuverability. Been selling other ones and building new ones but don’t think my tech slots will get better. Is that a good number for a corvette? How are people getting 4000 maneuverability?
In the process of building a pod-racer type with the engines out in front linked by a bunch of cables
First, over 2k is plenty, second, above 3k is so maneuverable that it doesn't feel realistic imo, especially in big ships, third, are your tech S class or black market?
I really don't wanna use any glitches because I wanna see what else I can do but DAMN it reactors take up a lot of space when you're using 12 of them
Best corvette build I've seen so far
This is my setup, still under 4000. If I wanted to do better I'd have to stick another medusa reactor in it somewhere, get better rolls on/use better engines, or supercharge more than 2 pulse engine upgrades. Maybe using the ambassador cockpit since it has a higher bonus. I don't think there's anything else

How do you have so many tech slots?
I got as perfect of a square in supercharge slots as I could. Two of them next to each other. Is it just luck of the draw when building a new corvette and is that the trick to get it to 3k like you?
My ship might be quite a bit bigger so maybe that affects it?

if you pay attention to where it shows your stats while building, your maneuverability will go up and down as you add parts. hard to say if having a bigger ship helps or hurts overall.
Feels like bigger helps and heavy thrusters are the best? Been messing with it a lot but I can change my ships size and design completely while keeping the number? Seems to work that way. Seems to all matter about the supercharge slots and you need 4
Man, the glitches to make a pointed bow design are going to drive me insane. I struggled to get it to work this morning, but it took me, like, 2 minutes to do it now.
I only used 2 supercharge slots on mine for pulse engine. Look in the pins in the legacy starship channel and you'll find a diagram of optimal module layout. You might be able to get a bit higher looking at that. I have a few things you probably don't, like the photonix core and almost perfect x-class modules but you should still be able to get pretty close with just s-class

Even small changes to adjacency can have huge impacts, see before and after I shuffled mine around. Went from 4600 to 5000 manoeuvrability with just these changes. No changes to the actual ship or which proper techs I had installed (though I did add some more trails for adjacency)
I am missing the things you said. My tech slots are full though so may need to delete a zenith reactor or something. I know Medusa reactor helps with movement

It's a little complicated. X-class are way more random but their max values are slightly higher than S-class

You mean beyond what can be seen in the image? Nothing. A lot of adjacency and high rolls on modules. Of particular note is that the pulse engine itself does not contribute any stats, use it only to provide adjacency to modules that do. Same thing with the Polo Figurine and the exhaust trails
How do you have so much space for these modules? I feel like my corvette has no space for it unless I take away from weapon upgrades.

i copied my corvette from the expedition but i had one already can i somehow trash the other?
I had to give up the idea of having multiple weapons. I only have a photon cannon, which is what hogs the single supercharged slot I'm not using for pulse engines

You have to buy more slots, or get the modules from missions. To get the max, your corvette will have to be s-class. even then you'll have to decide which things to leave out. You'll notice that the person with 5000 manuerverbility has left out some landing thruster modules, while I have fewer trails
Can’t scrap corvettes but you can sell them/exchange them to npc and then scrap the new regular ship you bought and you will have room again. Can only have 12 ships, corvettes incl
I do have two landing thrusters, because that's what made sense visually. Using the big side thrusters

Not in game right now since I'm about to head to bed, but you can see the highest possible roll for modules in a menu in game
That's still plenty! I do really enjoy the speed and ability to turn, but at some point it really is enough already. More helps but isn't going to change your life 🙂

Have come to find the Thermal grills are handy for changing the attachment points for things.
If you put them on a large hab, with some fiddling you can place a smaller hab "inside" the larger hab, but at a different attachment point, sort of midway between the two regular points.
Handy for offsetting some wing modules, among other things I'm sure others will fiddle with
Then place stuff on the offset hab, thrusters etc
Delete the offset hab and you're left with the offset thrusters or whatever you put on, but on the regular hab config.

yeah that offset glitch also works withother pieces in that category

I think the only reason mine has a gap that size is because of the wings I used. I believe you could definitly get it smaller than that. I think that it just depends on the proportional differance in part weight per side. I also assume you may not need a new ship for it, I just have been using the same tiny one for consistency purposes when it comes to testing.

You can create small offsets based on part distribution and placement. I have a video on my profile that goes over my current findings. It seems you have stumbled onto the same concept.
I have been able to get some cool designs using it, though with more research and people looking into it I think that you could find a way to get more percise differences. I have found a consistent way to get a half block gap, which is nice, though I have not been able to find an exact third or fourth. Close to them, but not quite there.
if you make something like this on your corvette (2 items connected) and delete it in a way that it deletes both at once you will brick your corvette. Dont do this!

not sure how but 1 decoration gets deleted and the other gets "deleted" its still there but like a ghost or something. when you will never be able to finalize and edit on the corvette after that because the ghost piece won't be "connected"

Oh I have not messed around with decals like that. I have deleted multiple stacked items though. I also know that putting a mobile save point on the ship bugs nearly everything and makes the doorframes and lights all turn invisible.
Plus you cant actually rename ships. If you hover over the drivers seat it will always have the default given ship name unless you use a save editor to change the name.

You need to use a ducting joint as a temporary block to build it off the side.
It's really not that hard, make a 2x3 rectangle, place the sides, remove the 2x2 square being the sides then align the ramps against the 2 parts left

I have maxxed out the adjacency bonus and have supercharge slotted x class boosters on it. I could get it higher but the 4th slot is supercharging my sub light amplifiers for interplanitary speeds

sometimes nom nom messes up when saving and will make items marked as obsolite tech so I nad to recraft a sub light amplifier
oh yeah I tested it and it zips
there's a glitch that makes you able to rotate parts that usually aren't able to, you could play with that and remake the back of the ship instead of having the ones coming out straight of it

you basically make a 3x1 shape with habs
go out of corvette building, place a ladder, come back in building mode, pick up the middle hab and turn it
then you'll be able to stack habs on top of each other that are facing both ways, making you able to mirroring
but nothing for vertical

Adjacent part placement is all that matters apparently. Just got my huge corvette to 2501 maneuverability from 2313. Considering rebuilding and focusing specifically on tech that increased maneuverability. I have a s class, a class, c class, and x class thrusters
One landing gear, maybe even 1 reactor to have all my tech slots free for thrusters and boosters. Is that a good idea?

You could turn on creative mode. Otherwise the fastest method by far is to equip a cyclotron ballista on a corvette and just go to a planet with salvage and a reasonably flat surface. You don't ever have to get out of the ship. Just stand up, scan and mark the next salvage, fly over and blast it and repeat. Hotkey getting out of the seat without landing, and go into first person to remove animations too.

Did the patch fix corvette spawning after teleporting to a base? They always tended to be half stuck in a building or other crap, stopped me from using a corvette..
So this was a glitch build pirate ship and when it rendered in it made my framerate drop to 3fps

Those are pretty good stats! I'm up to 5k at this point. There doesn't seem to be any diminishing returns but I think at some point more speed just becomes unnecessary

That explains a lot tho. There is a really good website with AI adjacency bonus layouts which is nice. It seems the layout matters but rotation of layout does not which is where my tech layout mostly comes from.

No, medusa pairs with medusa. But you can have 3 medusas if you place them before you place the cockpit

Looks pretty good, here's some easy swaps you can do that should give you higher stats without downside. Just a guess without seeing the actual stats of your modules, but the Polo swap will surely improve things.
I don't know where your supercharged slots are though. 🙂
I was wondering about the bobblehead layout. I used a min max site for the other layouts so that's interesting. What's the logic behind the left side swaps? Also my supercharged slots are whatever since I chose them with a save editor. I'm boosting my x class thrusters and sub light rn.

I only have 4 supercharged because that's the normal amount for an x class. I could test it on nom nom and do everything to get some crazy stats, but I'm not sure what the rules are for using those ships in social spaces and what not. I wanted to keep it functionally a vanilla ship. Just min maxed to hell
Not sure but those windows are always buggy so I wouldn't doubt it. I use the other kind to get small triangle windows for my ships.

I have one where while looking at the cockpit before entering it always says the autogenerated ship name unless you rename it in a save editor. I've tested it on a few ships and it persists at least as of today.
Like the original ship name even after you rename it in game.

It was a known bug where you can fall through window because of a gap. And supposedly fixed in 6.05. Think was part of patch notes as well.
So just don't use those windows until there fixed

That's how console players felt when they fixed corvette collision and it actually made it worse before finally being fixed
I played SC for too long to complain about other games bugs (because they pale in comparison to SC's scale and amount). The work around mentality and the ability to ignore bugs one has to have to play SC can't be understated.

I like it! The thruster section doesn't quite match the rest of the ship though, maybe you can connect them with something? You have a few flat areas that feel a little out of place, maybe you can use an offset glitch to squeeze something in there to cover it up a little? An aside note, that's a dramatic space station. I should totally find a dramatic station to make my screenshots in 🙂

Does anyone know if there is some way to level up your corvette class without paying nanites? i have heard from multiple people that there is but that does NOT seem like truth

If you mean the habs, they have different interiors
Ambassador is 80s sci-fi with white foam padding
Titan is industrial with just flat metal everywhere
Thunderbird is scrapped/cobbled together look with exposed wires and pipes and stuff

The super star destroyer-like design is completed. Struggled near the end and couldn't figure out how to get my weapons to turn the right way without tearing the whole ship apart to fix the habs, but I like it.

There's a rotation glitch in the game, lets you rotate a hab 180, which lets you place pieces "backwards".
I've seen videos with stairs, there's probably other ways. I haven't tried it yet

My wishlist is...
being able to place modules on the end of habs, so that wide builds are more feasible.

So... hoping there's some people out there with opinions on adding extra parts to corvettes for stats.
I feel like there's two options... keep the stat-generating parts to a minimum and leave more tech slots, then upgrade like any other ship (which I'm sure there's plenty of methods)
or load up on parts, like I did, and therefore fit fewer upgrades
And landing pads! I spawn into my base and my corvette is just hanging out phased into the top half of it lmao

So... I've been messing around in creative partly. upgrading to S and full slots is easy then.
I figured I'd see what I could do. and... with the upgrades I have access to, the corvette has better stats than my normal ship, but also has basically no tech slots left
Until then they should just have your Corvette spawn at altitude hovering above your base computer
Either that or don't spawn it in at all and let you summon it
the last update seemed to partly fix this. mine appears further away and not usually phased into my base

Okay I have done some testing and I can confirm that the only improvement that works for my ship the the polo figurine, as you can only get a max of 3 adjacency bonus so the swapping of the hyperdrive components does not change the stats. I also am going to keep the landing gear only becasue the way it is not gets me more boost through adjacency bonus. The swap would be slightly better for fuel economy but boost is more important to me. The polo swap did get my maneuverability up though. Here is my new stats after the swap.
I have managed to get most of the stats for my corvette I pretty high, except for weapon damage. Maybe once they finally introduce the infra-knife platform part I can do better.
The main advantage to loading up on tech is that you can have 3 from parts and then 3 more from standard ship upgrade modules

I may also want to take out some of the mods since the parts I have make the mods kind of redundant and I have limited equipment space for trails and bobbleheads and stuff

so I have done a bit of testing myself and I have found that the generation used on this site is accurate to the most optimised loadouts possible. I have tried many iterations and the ones used are always the most optimal in my findings. https://nms-optimizer.app/?platform=corvette
It is kind of dumb for aranging them, but just know you can rotate the design and it stays good as long as you dont mirror it and just rotate it

I also save space because I only use photon cannons
Ohh ok. the X modules are the regulars, and the S are the unique craftables I assume. I'm not 100% what they are, but i'm sure it's in the tech tree somewhere

Supercharged slots aren't really as troublesome to arrange on corvettes as they are for regular ships anyway, save editing just saves a bunch of menu use so I'd hardly consider that much of a cheat. It's free to attempt to get the perfect supercharge layout for corvettes, you can just keep trying and resetting again and again until you get it
How can I delete a corevette I designed to get my parts back?
That's the neat trick..... you can't get them "all" really.
you can delete everything and build a new one in that "slot", or you can reduce to bare minimum pieces and trade it away, then salvage the traded ship.

As far as I know, you cannot. Rebuild it to use minimal parts to get as much as you can back.

Well I keep the same number as on regular ships and I keep them in the top three rows, so I dont count it as cheating either. I mean its not like this game has much of a competitive element to it. My ship is super good but like... diminishing returns, its not much better than a base corvette. A little faster and turns quick but its mostly about number getting big for me.

The main corvette build interface should list everything that's currently available though, whether you have obtained them or not. Not so when it comes to decor though, that has to be unlocked to be visible.
really, based on this, it seems that optimal setup assumes you're using 3 of each part that gives a bonus to that thing. so what i'm doing really is "correct" if you're going for max numbers

Are you looking in the "purchase basic modules" section? that is extremely limited.
if you're customizing your corvette and looking at the build menu, there's 3 tabs. and yes, that's all of them
Adjacency is important though, you're not clumping up your modules as much as you could. It's also important to remember that adjacency boosts only the adjacent modules, so you want to prioritize boosting the best modules. This for example is not great in your setup:
all i seem to get when i go salvage farming is decoratrive pieces not what i want, like the hull pieces to shape a ship
You can use trade parts you have too many of for parts you have too few of at stations too

what you get from salvage farming is random
X-class can be pretty random, but I assume you have it in there because it rolled better than an S-class. In which case you really should try to keep it adjacent to as much as possible, and maybe supercharge it too

There isn't really a corvette quest, you can just make one anytime you like at a station. The expedition just sets you up to do so instead of going to a regular ship first.

There are these huge landing pads further out from the shops on the station. There are terminals there.

building a new corvette after expedtion from the parts iI already had but keeps saying that all parts must be connected, wish it would give a clue to which part because i cannot figure it out
i thought the trick was that it wasnt "in" a hab. you set it to exit a hab and build around it

You can’t put it in a hab , it goes on the end of them, but if you want a landing access point like in the middle of your ship (at the bottom) you can have 3 habs in a line, delete the middle one, and then place the landing ramp going into one, and a triangular piece opposite

i ended up doing it on accident fartin round. youre pretty much building an anti hab, using the space where the hab SHOULD be as a room without the hab there itself.

Or , you can use the ambassador (I think)one, which is the elevator option, and that can go directly in line with habs and walkways. But in my experience the elevator one has been extra buggy

They don't go inside habs, you place those instead of habs.

All you'd get out of that is a teleport button and a bunch of clutter, it certainly wouldn't open up a hole in a regular hab.

Well, kind of did the work, sadly there's no shape like this cube so it would smooth it even more
I keep trying to paint my ship and it keeps going back to the default colour after pressing apply to all it's so frustrating am I doing something wrong?

It’s a bug. Same thing happens in freighters for me
I gave up color coordinating my freighter since the colors change with every update it seems

I did it you guys. 3009.7 maneuverability. Got 4 supercharge slots all together almost forming a perfect square exactly. I have room to add more tech too. I found my corvette. Came with a Japanese name too or sounds like it lol

Seriously, take a screen shot of whatever maneuver or stat is the highest. The exact placement of thrusters, cockpit, and reactors mean everything. Honestly, only use 4 supercharge slot corvettes
Any design ideas for what I should do with my next ship? I kind of am thinking of testing until I can even out my offset spacing and then making some hella compact little thing. Maybe something with the new rotation methods?

I put an a, s, x, and c. It’s what I had but the x one does seem to help a lot. Can’t be multiple s thrusters but not sure about X. I’m on a mission to buy more thrusters and probably replace the C thruster

What I like about the stat thing btw is I can add whatever cosmetics and as long as I put everything back the way it was in my tech slots, stats will stay the same. More hubs do equal less space for tech I think

i like the railgun style design as well but mine sucks.
I recommend 2 Medusa reactors, 2 thurbderbird heavy booster, and at least one titan heavy booster. I do one weapon to save my tech slots. Those are the corvette parts you can build but the augments help immensely when you put everything adjacently
My ships are not the best design wise and wish I could create like you all do but I still love it because it’s mine. Upstairs is my laboratory and kitchen and my cockpit is a botanical garden which I never pick since I like being surrounded by the big colorful plants lol

love plants as well. i just finished up my first "larger" ship. all my ships are pretty small.
I sit on the front of my ship outside in space and just chill. My favorite game and creative mode helps a lot to find the perfect 4 tech slot corvette

Huge pain, luck, a lot of time. Go into creative mode then build any corvette, you immediately upgrade to s class and check the ship. If ship is no good or could be better, sell to npc and scrap the ship you engine from the exchange. I have a perfect 4 tech charge slot together now but it took 2 nights in a row for me to finally find this one. A lot of l of luck

Btw, upgrading ships is free in creative mode and then you switch back to custom or whatever. Honestly the grind of making your own with what you found is fun too though. I still love my other two that are in the low 2000’s
Yeah im usually at work from home so when i build its in creative. plus with people losing theirprogress n stuff id hate to bump into that issue after grinding
I certainly won't condemn anyone for using creative, but I find it satisfying to make my own. That said, I was already unreasonably wealthy by the time the corvettes were released so I totally get wanting to skip the grind for nanites and such

you can get kinda close, but yes, you're limited in that you need a small hab, a reactor, a landing bay. Even using glitches, you can get smaller but then you run into challenges like "how do I get in the ship when all my access points are now blocked?"
yeah i was rich on my main save, but i started a new save with this update to play creative and think of ideas. but now i havent stopped because im addicted to building

Im cooking up a VERY small maxxed out corvette rn. I figured out how to get two half offsets so I can have my directional offset and my landing gear as I wanted them. We are winning today. New ship gonna be tiny.
Btw, what do you all think of the next update being the submarine. Building same kind like in subnautica. Huge with fish tanks and fish you caught, refiner, same as corvette. Customizable and can make it look like an underwater fighter or giant kosatka. Have to find the salvaged parts on the bottom of ocean planets

Maybe try something smaller to start with? You really only need 1 hab, anything else should be an aesthetic choice

Refining, mission, kitchen and maybe a storage? That's four slots, which is what you get from a single hab.

You get parts mainly by doing bombing runs on salvage planets
Salvage them from planets with a basic corvette build, it's super easy to build up a huge library of parts in very little time

Doing something that big as a first try isn't always working good, something smaller like this would be pretty good for a start
They're all over the place, just scan planets and look for the "salvageable scrap" tag
time to farm again
Equip a cyclotron ballista (photon cannon works too, but less well) on a corvette and just go to a planet with salvage (you can see it listed by looking at planets from space) and a reasonably flat surface. You don't ever have to get out of the ship. Just stand up, scan and mark the next salvage, fly over and blast it and repeat. Hotkey getting out of the seat without landing, and go into first person to remove animations too.
