Do I need to remove interior decorations from my corvette if I'm redesigning it?

Since you are using mod anyway, here is the way to extend the build radius limit for the corvette:
Go to your mod folder, go to BuildShip-XXX\GLOBALS, make a new file called GCBUILDINGGLOBALS.GLOBAL.EXML
Within that new file, put the following code in:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Data template="cGcBuildingGlobals"> <Property name="BuildingPlacementMaxShipBaseRadius" value="48" /> </Data>
Now you should be able to eliminates most of the "Base out of Radius" error message.
If you want to completely eliminates said issue, increases the value to 87. Do note anything above 45 will have unintended side effect, and anything above 48 will have the problem of potenionally clipping stuff out of the station wall.

As someone could see from the port and starboard orthographics, the USCSS Nostromo has THREE decks, which for the sake of complexity, I will interpret as three floors.
However, whenever I end up building the bridge, it always ends up being 4!
I’d forever wish and plead, that I could go to like ChatGPT or something, ask it to take the design of the Nostromo, and convert it to a bunch of rectangles, but I don’t think it would do it right
Should I look into something like low poly models to use as a building reference?
I’d rather use 2 decks
Have the cockpit situated right above the landing ramp
Long ramp above the cockpit, then a steeper one to make a pseudo 3rd deck
Heavy booster for the top thruster(?)
Then for the fuselages you’d have to make yourself, if you’re creative enough you can probs make it out of hab units but honestly too much space, i’d rather go for hull attachers

So I think I just lost my favorite corvette. I did the reset the simulation quest, which of course breaks all of your gear. so I switched starships. Now I can't call in my corvette to fix it up... is there a way around this or is that ship lost forever?

I got to the scene of the movie where they land on LV 426, and what I saw, there’s no ramp on the Nostromo.
Kane, Dallas, and Lambert descend an elevator that from some shots, look like it descends in front of the main landing gear.
That’s what I’m trying to replicate now, and everything about the undercarriage is throwing me off because I can’t get that sense of height, because I can’t place the landing bay higher because the elevator doesn’t extend all the way down.
It’s hard to put into words. I wish I could show you any other way, but that’s just my theory way it is

Anyone else having issues where your Corvette's mods switch around randomly and even disappear sometimes? These pics are all mins apart from each other with no editing done, just summoning the ship. It is driving me nuts. I feel like I cannot even fly my Corvette because I never know if the hyperdrive or something will even be mounted at the time.

Even if I delete the nacelle above it and place the hab where I should be able to connect the nacelle to the bottom of it, it just refuses to snap into the place

Green and dark grey are objectively the best for baseline cool and gold/red are the best for over the top cool
I found inspiration for my own from someone in the anomaly. I was looking at other ships and saw one with a lounge and a proper kitchen. So I turned my 2 story into a three story.
I like the blue and gray myself.
I kind of wish there was a proper black/white combo.
All my reactors and all that on my corvette are not on my technology section anymore. Is that normal?

No, they still follow that rule. It's just that "reactor" isn't a category. Each type of reactor is its own category of module

Oh I know, but stat wise the reactor is basically an S class mod.
but its a module so it doesnt count towards mod cap
Not Azimuth, they're A class at best. S Class Launch Thruster mods are still better
aka corvettes are more deeply customisable
Everything counts towards mod caps. It's just that there's more than one cap. Each kind has its own separate cap of 3 modules of its kind
yeah but azimuth combines the recharge AND is A-class mod
then again, you can stack both the reactors and the mods
so its easily S-class
Fun fact, your cockpit and the Medusa reactor are both technically the same tech type. If you install your cockpit before 3 Medusa reactors, it will only count the first 2 Medusa's in tech

I admit Medusa is the one reactor I don’t use. Next to the shield one.
It's as simple is uninstalling and reinstalling the cockpit, then saving changes.
Medusas are the best! Manoeuvrability is awesome

it adds maneuverability in addition to thrusters, so 3 medusas + 3 A thrusters + 3 upgrade mods = one nimble as F ship

doesn't work like that i'm afraid, i think you have to uninstall medusas and cockpit, then install the 3 medusas first to be sure they count in tech

My Corvette only has like 24k DPS with the photon cannon but it has really good shields. It's a juggernaut
... I've not fought a sentinel mothership. I assume they show up if I fight sentinels in space long enough? I'll give it a go
Meanwhile my Sentinel Interceptor has much less shielding but has all 4 SC slots in a square so my DPS for Infraknife is 100k

Mine has 2 med bays, one mission radar, 4(maybe 5?) sleeping quarters, two living walls, and 2 Nutrition systems.

I wish my medbay wasn’t sharing space with the cargo but it works.
I’m also digging the elevator style lift. Put that in the back like you’re going to bring cargo in that way while putting a second landing bay in the front like on the Normandy.
So crew exits out the front and cargo comes on underneath.

Also? The back wall of habs don’t seem to count as space to put anything in, which is weird? Like I can use the sidewalls but the back is just…empty?
yeah the placement options for some of the rooms leave a little to be desired. 2 of the window options also look identical when put on an ambassador hab
the outside of windows also doesnt have any polish options so it wont match the rest of your ship if you use glossy paint

place the robots ring down first, it should be slightly above the floor. Then take out the topo table (i had to downsize to get around it) and then place the table INSIDE the ring
also i should mention that this is a walkway hab with windows, i just used the offset glitch to build a lower wall and make the windows thinner.
so a windowed room should be even more spacious
Plus the low walls double as pretty cool shelves depending on the module you use.

@runic bluff A bit of a late response since I was doing something other than shipbuilding, but I finally got around to dealing with the medusas. It took some messing around but I finally understood what you meant. Remove all medusas and the cockpit, build all three medusas and THEN add the cockpit back in, then save. At least that sequence worked for me.
Also, wow. That made a huge difference. I jumped from 4100 to 4500 manoeuvrability from just replacing the cockpit tech with a medusa tech:

Maneuverability is the most important stat, imo. Way more time is spent flying than fighting or warping, after all
It's just more snappier, tho it feels way less realistic the higher you go, around 2k is the best imo for bigger ships but around 3k for smaller ships is my go-to

Every bit of manoeuvrability helps. At some point you might feel like you have enough turning speed but the travel speed keeps increasing linearly. I'm at 4500 now and get 1300 u/s at sea level and my craft feels incredibly agile.

X-class are more random, they can get a little bit higher than S-class

I finally got around to learning how to do backups outside the game due to corvettes. The idea of losing my beloved spacebug is too scary
All I could do was swap ships to scrap a fallen ship and it just deleted my corvette 🤨

I've never had close to maxed out ships but with these new corvettes it might not stay that way
Had this happen too. Had to use a save editor to find the ship, still in my list on the back end but not visible in game, and set it to my active ship. It was a part-less Corvette somehow. Yanked all the tech and got rid of it by exchanging ships with an NPC one in the space station.

I lost my ship in a multiplayer session, somehow I ended up with my friends fighter ship in my slot. Name was the same but the ship was just not a corvette anymore. I had a save to revert to though!

Got the whole "Arcadia" set and I'm playing around with combinations of it. I especially like the sublight thruster "pods" as well as the boosters. This build gives me a "Lego" feel. 10 year old me would be proud.

The issue with this is If I were to shorten the front and make the middle longer, it would give much more of a beefy look to the center part and overwhelm the tail section. And I can't exactly widen the tail section because of part limitations.

I've made a few that were vaugely consular shaped in the past, but that was my first attempt at making a true consular
3 high for each engine casing, then 1 mid to connect each one?

I only have the one corvette so far, but I feel like I've been improving the design as I go. 🙂

Cause after i lost the ship the game saved automatically
The game automatically keeps two saves, if you need more you have to make your own backups ahead of time
I made a save wayy before a lost my ship
But is not showing
both are like 2 min recent
One of those saves will never be overwritten with autosave though, it can only be overwritten by saving triggered by player action
Someone mentioned that they went to their base and could summon from there

Well, you lost access. Hope is not entirely lost though. Some people in this channel have said that the ship could still be in your save file and accessible through save edits. I don't personally know anything about that though.

If you are starting from scratch put in the bare minimum parts and then go out of edit and cram all the spare slots with upgrades. then when you add parts it will make more slots for them

You've made the front pretty flat so it's a bit of an uphill battle from there. If you're absolutely set on that square shape you could add some spiky bits sticking out of the front. Perhaps something like supercruise cowling and then a vesper diffuser on the outside of that?

Don't think so, no. I ended up rebuilding my whole ship because I wanted to re-align the beam down point to a better spot. I was going to rearranged a bunch of things anyway though, so it all worked out well 🙂

huh, you cant filter your systems list in discoveries by pirate, but you can sort them by everything else? even the uninhabited systems...
that is my issue to the exact tee. im trying to build something blocky but i make them all so slim and love that so much
I might give up on trying to recreate ships, I always feel like someone can do it better and I tend to like my own designs more anyway

When you shrink a base part to smallest scale inside a Corvette, you are told Base Out of Range - gotta make it a little bigger to place. Anyone else seen this?

I find different cockpits have different appeal, and fit different style corvette.
So, my plan is to start an ambassador cockpit one eventually. I'll also have different parts available, and that will inspire different design also.
But I'll probably keep a similar interior layout for functionality purposes.
Also, explore what other people have done. Some good ideas out there.

My ship. I shortened the neck considerably and the inside is much better decorated.

Edited it around and lengthened the ship a bit, I think it does have a pretty sleek and thin profile now while still looking like it could haul a good amount of cargo
