I think my favorite part was putting the cockpit in the driver's side and coloring it black so it looks like it's a windshield.

i have a couple mods. there are legacy wooden base parts for the decking and the cranes are ground base parts also not normally available on the vette. hopefully HG will just let us use all the parts and let us decide if our own systems can handle a build.
(also-supposedly, the legacy base parts are not optimized for the current engine build)

tbh, i personally use lots of reference images for what im building. i have a folder on my desktop of medieval house art for base building. i also use floor plans, boat deck plans and even tabletop gaming floorplans and "technical journals" for things like spaceship layouts.

Google 1970's Sci fi space ships, lots of cool stuff, and it's what no man's sky art style and designs are based on, so it fits the game world, alot of it looks like you could build a corvette based on it as a reference.

Here's a ship I made as my main flying home. Was looking to just make it a standard boxy dropship, but then it turned out the 'landing legs' turn into engines in flight.

And this one started as an experiment to see how small a ship I can make. Ended up as a sort of explorer shuttle.

I'm really glad I found a better way to mount the guns, because the early versions... didn't offer the pilot much in terms of visibility. :P

so what you do is you build a connection to the parts you want to make disconnected, you leave the building mode, and fly over to the corvette landing bay thats in front of your one, then go into build new corvette, and in the building mode you go over to your corvette and delete the connections and then leave the building mode and boom

If you mean the big bottom ones, I'm not too sure if there is a glitch to do it. I got lucky on finding a very specific planetary archive building that has slopes/ramps at the top that automatically rotate things for me when placed on it. Parked my ship midair next to it, made some awnings, and then placed it on it.

I spent way too much time on this. It's exactly at the part limit and I have (I think) squeezed all the stats I can get out of it. Even grinded out a square supercharge slot layout. It's also somehow one room larger than the maximum length allowed, so I can't build in the furthest back room without glitch building because it's "outside of my base area". If I had just a few more parts I was allowed to use I'd probably make the back of the ship a bit taller. Pretty proud of the interior too. It's structured so that the back is a cargo zone which connects to two long hallways, each lined with rooms of different functions on the outside wall, like a med bay, mess hall, ect. There is one room in the center that leads up to an observatory which also acts as the lounge. It has two landing bays, one in the back and one right next to the cockpit for easy access.

I'd like that too; problem is though a block when building a corvette isn't the same size as a block for basebuilding (like a stone floor vs a reactor X and Y values =/= ) - they would have to resize or at the very least add a small corvette to base converter like a passageway block.

right now you gotta do janky stuff like holo doors and stairs wiht walking on the skin of the ship , stairs and a moon pool from the underwater base, and also the loading bay

sometimes thee's a problem with overlap especially decoration parts clipping through to base and you gotta delete them to be able to walk past without jumping or slap a floor or stairs down

I know this post was from a while ago but how'd you make it so the magfield thrusters aren't connected to the main body? And what are those side opening door, cover things?

The side covers are just awnings on top
The thrusters are a little complicated but think of your cockpit as one GIANT invisible hull that goes from the very front to the very back
As long as you connect something to that invisible middle hull you can delete the hull and the pieces will still act as if that hull is still there

You can use this to make floating parts anywhere on the ship by moving your cockpit around and messing with it

Hope that helps, I can go more in detail if needed

Personally I'd ditch the thunder it's thruster/launchers, they take away from the armoured bulky but sleek profile.

Other than the thrusters that is one proper lookin armoured gunship, looks like a vanilla build it's so good

Found a guide from KhrazeGaming on how to make something approximating the SSV Normandy. Took a bit of salvage hunting, but here is my new Corvette, the SSV Icarus. Still needs some decorations on the outside, but the inside is pretty well fitted out.
