What is r/place?

A collaborative project and social experiment hosted on Reddit. It involves an online canvas located at a subreddit called r/place, which registered users could edit by changing the color of a single pixel from a 16-color palette. After each pixel was placed, a timer prevented the user from placing any pixels for a period of time varying from 5 to 20 minutes.

This is from the place news server: Given the knowledge we have about chunk IDs and the current canvas, this is my prediction for how the canvas will expand. The current chunk IDs for the two chunks of the current canvas are #1 and #4, and we know that up to 6 chunks exist because requesting them returns with a response. The numbers in each chunk is the "chunk ID" and the black square is the current area we are able to place on. This ends up being a 3000x2000 area.
