Hey! Let me break down what's happening:

The Rebrand: Clawdbot โ†’ Moltbot

What happened: Anthropic sent a C&D asking them to change the name because "Clawdbot" was too similar to "Claude." Peter (the creator) embraced it โ€” "molt" is what lobsters do when they grow, so it's actually a fitting name for an upgrade!

TL;DR: The code is still the same great project, just with a new name.

Should You Update?

You're on 2026.1.24-3 (stable) โ€” that's perfectly fine! The beta version is newer but may have edge cases. For production VPS setups, stable is the right choice unless you need specific beta features.

Key point: The rebrand doesn't require an urgent update. Your bot will continue working as-is.

About the NPM "Fake Issues"

Scammers exploited the rebrand chaos โ€” there were fake crypto tokens and impersonator accounts popping up. Peter has been warning people about these. The npm package situation was likely related to handle sniping or impersonation attempts during the transition.
