Stay somewhere near Tianfu Square - like 1km radius, then you can easily walk the innercity and discover parks and how social life is. Especially in the evenings everything comes alive. Along the Nanhe river many social activities such as dances and games are played at night. Peoples park as also a nice sight. Panda sanctuary is fun. Take everywhere a taxi, its super cheap and easy to get, but be aware of afternoon traffic. Visit the main square where a statue of Mao is, its quite impressive the sheer size. Visit a rooftop restaurant to see the full size of the city.
Apart from all the standard stuff, like buy an esim online via trip.com, all hotels and trains you can book there as well. esim you dont have limitiations on websites etc.
oh i replied to you earlier, whoops. thank you for the tips! very excited to go there ๐ do you speak chinese? and if no, how did you survive, just google translate or one of the chinese apps or something?
np - I speak 0 chinese, but actually everything with the built-in translation of the Didi, Alipay or WeChat works - there is also an auto-translate option for the whole app so you can read everything easy.
so speaking with people = voice to text via the translate option in the apps
