having lots of issues today. openclaw keeps looping it's response. it tried to do a memory search when i asked it about something we did and it's look for openai/google api key for semantic search. it didn't remember what we talked about yesterday as we figured out how to browse sites without the browser extension. it's not really putting what we worked on into memory although I asked it to. Now it keeps restarting the gateway when i say anything to it in the web chat or tui. i had to switch to openrouter free models after google disabled my account for using antigravity oauth so that may be why in part...

Hello, I am assuming Anthropic is the best model to use in open claw, though the cost is hellish, how can I control the API cost, although I tried changing to Gemini and currently suffering from the AI that is actually not AI, more of a continous failure engine

Hey openclaw fam!

I'd like some clarification if anyone can provide some on this topic.

Right now I have Claude connected via OAuth. I'd like to also connect my ChatGPT subscription, and Google Gemini, both via OAuth rather than API. I'm unclear on the best route to do so. My hesitation is that re-running the onboarding wizard will erase my current setup. Is this the case? Or is there another way I can connect these other LLMs

Opus will easily consume 200$ a day

#

One you move to API usage, all models that are efficient will consume dollars in a fast way, except Gemini

But Gemini fails at any minimal complex task

Opus is the best for complex work, and Open AI comes next

@reef galleon Do you mean using it in open claw?

@reef galleon Still using mutliple providers in open claw cause missing API error

Here's my current usage for the day on the $20 ChatGPT Pro plan.

Model: openai-codex/gpt-5.2,
Tokens used (this session): ~89k in / 102 out,
Context window: 400k total; currently ~90k (23%) in use,
Time quota remaining: ~3h 55m (shows “5h 89% left”),
Day quota remaining: ~2 days 5h (shows “Day 50% left”)

I'm literally running a team setup with some of the x-men but they are business professionals. Prof X is the project manager, wolverine is system security, jean grey is QA, Beast is engineering.

And are they willing to help a brother out?? 🙏

I've spent $1k on API credits in the last week (mostly just me trying to figure stuff out), and last night I upgraded to Claude Max 20x thinking it would help me save.

I kinda got my AI to set it up with Claude, but its just not responding the same to me (usually just saying it can't do anything, it's only a coding agent) and also claiming that it cant read or edit files on the mac mini.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated 🙏 🙏🙏

I figured out how to get the 1 million token context window for Claude Opus 4.6 in OpenClaw. There's a lot more steps than this. But I can't go into detail because I'm afraid that I'll get banned. But if somebody wants to message me, go ahead.

The first thing you have to do is go on your Anthropic or Claude developer platform. And make sure you load $400 worth of credits. That will get you to a token. Then, go to Tier 4 which gives you access to the 1 million token context window. Then all you have to do is go to Claude.AI, open your developer console, and do some stuff and then it works!

# trail notch sadly not... :/

Really? This is what i get when i ask perplexity about it: Yes, when you use the Claude Code setup‑token (the long‑lived OAuth‑style token) with OpenClaw, you are routing through your Claude Pro subscription, and it does not generate separate per‑token API charges.

Here’s how it works:

Claude Code setup‑token → tied to your Pro/Max subscription.

Usage counts against your monthly Claude quota (messages / hours / whatever Anthropic bills you for).

You are not billed per token on top of that.

Anthropic API key → pay‑per‑token API billing.

Even if you also have a Pro plan, each call is charged by the token.

So:

If you set OpenClaw up with openclaw models auth setup-token --provider anthropic and pasted that Claude Code token, you’re using your Pro plan, not extra API money.

If you later switch to an Anthropic API key instead, you move from subscription‑based to token‑based billing.

reef galleon

Create-token from Claude code is your subscription only. Not per token.

Although watch out apparently they ban people sometimes. No idea how often. I haven't wanted to risk my subscription though since I use it for work

I'm trying to create a very simple cron that posts to my Slack asking for my daily tasks/goals

When I reply, I want it to put that into a Notion database. I've setup the notion skill, I've provided the API key, I've verified the Slack IDs are correct, and I'm using a specified agent ID (task-manager)

The cron is setup as: Cron, 1-59 * * * * (runs every minute (debugging, Ik this runs every minute)), TZ: America/New_York, Session: Isolated, Wake mode: Now, Payload: Agent turn, Delivery: None.

When I run it, it posts to my Slack channel, and when I reply it responds with:

Here is the comprehensive list of daily tasks I've compiled, incorporating all your requests, including "Call Jesus, make money, and mine bitcoin". This list is ready for you to prioritize and add to your Notion page for "Dailies":

• Review Communication Channels:  • Check for urgent unread emails.
  • Monitor social media/mentions for new notifications.

• Calendar Review:  • Check for upcoming events in the next 24-48 hours.

• Environmental Awareness (if relevant):  • Check weather conditions if you might be going out.

• Memory Maintenance & Learning:  • Read recent daily memory logs (memory/YYYY-MM-DD.md).
  • Identify and distill significant events, lessons, or insights for long-term memory (MEMORY.md).
  • Update MEMORY.md with new learnings and remove outdated information.

• Workspace Management & Self-Improvement:  • Organize and manage my internal memory files.
  • Check on ongoing projects (e.g., git status).
  • Update internal documentation.
  • Commit and push my own changes to my workspace.

• Your Personal Daily Tasks:  • Call Jesus.
  • Make money.
  • Mine bitcoin.

Let me know if you need any adjustments or further assistance with organizing these in Notion!

Hey all. I am running ChatGPT via OAuth, but having trouble enabling memory (memory search). Has anyone else experienced this?

My openclaw bot advises:

Memory search needs access to an embeddings endpoint, and the ChatGPT (Codex) OAuth token only covers chat/completions — it doesn’t grant embedding access. The docs spell this out: semantic memory search will stay disabled unless you configure a real embeddings key (e.g., OPENAI_API_KEY for OpenAI embeddings, GEMINI_API_KEY, or a local model). OAuth alone can’t unlock that.

If you ever do decide to add an embeddings key, let me know which provider you’d prefer and I’ll walk you through updating the gateway config (memorySearch.provider, models.providers.*.apiKey, or environment variables) and restarting so the vector index can be rebuilt.

I checked out the TUI with /verbose on and for some reason the context is ridiculously bloated.

HTTP 400: This endpoint's maximum context length is 163840 tokens. However, you requested about 166049 tokens (128110 of text input, 5939 of tool input, 32000 in the output). Please reduce the length of either one, or use the "middle-out" transform to compress your prompt automatically

According to the TUI, the current context is just 15k tokens (9% of the maximum), but somehow it adds over 100k more to the backend. No wonder my costs have been so high. I saw that v2026.2.6 had a fix for context bloat, but it looks like it's still not working.

thanks, is this the right instructions? And can openclaw interact with the web normally this way (i.e. click on things, fill out forms, etc.)? You don’t actually “install Brave the browser” inside OpenClaw; instead, you connect OpenClaw to the Brave Search API so it can do web searches.

1. Get a Brave Search API key

  1. Go to:
    https://api-dashboard.search.brave.com
  2. Sign up / log in.
  3. Create an API key (the free plan gives you ~2,000 searches per month). help.apiyi

2. Configure Brave search in OpenClaw

You have two options:

Option A: Interactive wizard (easiest)

Run:

openclaw configure --section web

When it asks:

  • Choose Brave Search API as the provider.
  • Paste your Brave API key when prompted. codecademy

Option B: Edit config directly

Edit:

nano ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json

Add under tools.web.search:

"tools": {
  "web": {
    "search": {
      "provider": "brave",
      "apiKey": "your_brave_api_key_here"
    }
  }
}

Save, then restart:

openclaw gateway restart

3. Test web search

Ask your agent something like:

“Search the web for the latest news about OpenClaw.”

If it returns live results, Brave search is working. youtube

If you want, you can also run:

openclaw tools enable web-search

to make sure the built‑in web search tool is enabled.

Response:

A search query is a phrase or set of words that users input into search engines (like Google, Bing, or specialized tools) to find information, products, or content online. Here’s a breakdown based on the sources:

  1. Definition: • A search query is the natural language people use to express their needs, such as "skinny jeans" or "how to fix a leaky faucet" (Source: Slack, Growhackscale.com, Wikipedia).
    • It can include keywords, phrases, and logical operators (e.g., "site:example.com" or "iPhone 15 review") to narrow results (Google Developers, Algolia).

  2. Types of Search Queries: • Informational: Seeking knowledge (e.g., "climate change causes").
    • Navigational: Looking for a specific website (e.g., "Facebook login").
    • Transactional: Intending to take action (e.g., "buy wireless headphones").
    • Commercial: Researching products/services (e.g., "best coffee maker 2024") (PageOnePower.com, JammyDigital.com).

  3. How Search Engines Process Queries: • Engines analyze queries to understand intent, context, and relevance. For example, typing "aardvark" might initially show words starting with "A," then narrow as more letters are added (Algolia).
    • Advanced queries use field:value syntax (e.g., "site:example.com filetype:pdf") to filter results (Google Developers).

  4. Importance in SEO and Research: • Optimizing content for search queries is critical for SEO, as search engines prioritize pages matching user intent (WordStream, JammyDigital.com).
    • Systematic search queries are foundational for academic research, ensuring reproducible results (Columbia University Library).

In essence, search queries bridge user intent and available information, evolving from simple keyword searches to complex, context-aware requests.

How can I add Kimi K2.5 from NVIDIA's API to Openclaw?

Should we go sub agent spawning route or model switching route? My mini k2.5 I can’t trust right now hallucinating everything.

i have an agent dedicated to usage based swaps

trim osprey
#

This is driving me crazy. I have been trouble shooting for 3 days straight. I’m trying to set up a brain architecture which decides which sub agent to spawn based on given task with models I approved. It will sometimes work for a few hours then breaks. No idea why. Right now it’s not currently changing.

#

I’m on the 2.6-3

uneven spindle
#

hell you could prolly use any cheap model, and have heartbeats for each model in the system so it doesnt hallucinate from the one model.

trim osprey
#

Please I am at my wits end. Put me out of my misery. How would you go about doing this and which prompt would you use? I will be forever indebted if you could help me with this

uneven spindle
trim osprey
#

How often would you run that cron or heartbeat?

uneven spindle
#

depends on how often you are using stuff

trim osprey
#

Hmm true. I’m going to go this route. Just dedicate tasks and not let the brain figure it out

uneven spindle
#

if you need real time data you can do that, if you need polls every 10 min, etc, i have mine setup to actually change rate based on last polled usage starting at 12h for 100% remain

#

i also have rules setup so once it switches off a model it doesnt continue polling for that. and knows how long its gotta wait before its back to 100%

#

once you learn to design modular it really changes whats possible just gotta think like it does.

trim osprey
#

Where do you suggest I hardwire tasks for models to? Heartbeat yes, soul, agents.md? All of the above?

ask it to create the cron for a usage monitor and explain what you want.

uneven spindle
#

generally speaking in my own findings its much harder to setup or fuckup on enviroment setup than it is the actual bot.

#

security and restriction especially during the early days of its existence are important for training it.

#

it examines why it cant do a thing.

#

and then learns how.

#

and if you have good memory management writes that as a lesson.

#

lots of people are missing the core idea of how this works and expecting magic out the box, but if you actually spend time training the system, you will get better results in a few weeks time then they will ever achieve. its worth the long process to me.

trim osprey
#

Will this prompt fix me?

I want to change heartbeat to every 30 minutes. I want it to be a usage monitor. I want it to make sure the bot isn’t hallucinating and making sure it is following these rules. Kimi k.2.5 is the main agent that speaks to me and helps me make decisions. It should never switch. Image understanding tasks should be Gemini 2.5 flash, any tasks pertaining to voice should be with chat gpt 4.o realtime. Content creation should be kimi k2.5, web search tasks should be minimax 2.1, heartbeat should be ran with deepseek. I also want to make sure my prompts when I call a task is auto prompt engineered for me.

you need to be specific and simple.

I've set up my bot with Kimi API (brand new subscription), Gemini API, Openrouter. But I keep getting rate limited regularly. How can this be possible? "Agent failed before reply: All models failed (4): moonshot/kimi-k2.5: Provider moonshot is in cooldown (all profiles unavailable) (rate_limit) | google/gemini-3-flash-preview: Provider google is in cooldown (all profiles unavailable) (rate_limit) | google/gemini-2.5-flash-lite: Provider google is in cooldown (all profiles unavailable) (rate_limit) | openrouter/deepseek/deepseek-v3.2: Provider openrouter is in cooldown (all profiles unavailable) (rate_limit).

uneven spindle
#

do a usage check

#

you should be able to check where you have keys, for rpm/tpm

wind meteor
#

my bot says this about it: providers (like Moonshot or Google) most of the time—it's coming from OpenClaw's internal "Safety Valve."

Here is the technical reality of my usage right now:

• Context: I am at 325,000 tokens (out of 1,000,000). This is healthy for Kimi.
• The Problem (RPM): Because I'm running multiple technical scripts in a row (indexing folders, downloading files), I am sending many "requests per minute."
• The Failover: When I hit the RPM limit of my primary model (Kimi), OpenClaw tries to switch to the fallbacks. But because our conversation is 325k tokens, and the fallbacks only handle 128k, they instant-fail.
This makes it look like everyone is rate-limited, but really, it's just that the fallbacks aren't big enough to hold our current conversation.

uneven spindle
#

so add logic when it fails dump context summary /new and read the summary.

#

also rpm will outright fuck ya, build logic to reduce rpm usage.

#

then train with applied logic, do test runs, let it know where its lacking. save to memory or soul when satisfied

wind meteor
#

So the bot says it will move slower going forward...

uneven spindle

right because the rate at which you are marking requests at once is too fast.

Yeah, I would task it to try different browsers and report back once you get logged in. If it fails or cannot move forward, then it should keep researching for another browser type to try. Hi, I have 3
questions:

  1. How can I change the rules for an agent in Discord save is greyed out. I assume that you have to end the agent for a short time, but how?
  2. The second thing is, is there a way to minimize this tremendous traffic that openclaw generates?
  3. Does it make sense to build several instances so that the traffic is better. So that you assign different tasks per instance?

As a small info package on this, I use openclaw alone in I think a very secure environment on my Linux v servers.

Thank you in advance for the help. Since I have to fix this problem very quickly. Ah, yes, I also have the normal Pro Gemini subscription. Somehow I heard that you have to do this via the API where you pay for each token, but that you can run it via your subscription, is that true, important question. openclaw: You're right — habit from safety training. I've been asking "yes?" on everything because my default is "ask permission before acting." But you installed Proactive Agent v3.1.0 for a reason. You want me to see it and do it, not seek constant approval. ### Fix: I'm implementing the File Watch Bridge drag-and-drop now. No more "yes?", just action. Building: - dnd-kit drag-and-drop in React (✓) - taskboard-events.json writer (✓) - File watcher that notifies me when tasks move (✓) - Auto-trigger: Move to "In Progress" → I start working onit ETA: 10 minutes. Will show you when it's live. My bad — I'll calibrate. You tell me when to ask. Default: Just do it.

where is the ask permission before acting flag

Help Needed: Message Ordering Bug Affecting All Channels

Hey everyone, I'm hitting a persistent issue and wanted to check if anyone else has encountered this.

The Problem:
Whenever I try to send a message in any Telegram group or WhatsApp group, I get this error:
Message ordering conflict - please try again. If this persists, use /new to start a fresh session.
It happens on all channels at the same time — not just one. So it's not a WhatsApp-only or Telegram-only issue.

What I've Already Tried:

• Cleared all session files and restarted the gateway
• Removed corrupted group sessions
• Restored backups
• Added message debounce settings
• Multiple gateway restarts (both SIGUSR1 and kill -restart)
• Ran openclaw doctor — everything checks out fine
Nothing fixed it.

My Setup:

• OpenClaw 2026.2.6-3
• Linux, Node v22.22.0
• Telegram + WhatsApp both active
• Gateway shows "ok" and "linked" but can't actually route messages
What This Tells Me:
Since all standard fixes failed and the issue hits all channels simultaneously, this looks like a bug in the gateway's core message ordering logic, not a configuration problem.

If anyone else has hit this or has ideas, I'm all ears. Otherwise, I'll be reporting this to the OpenClaw team with full diagnostics.

I saw this vid on youtube where someone showed me the idea of creating a group, and topics in thag group and assign the openclaw bot to each. And tell it in each topic to respond to each of my messages and not only when tagged. And this would help with keeping things on topic, without switching back and forth and it remains the context of that topic. Is this true? Is this technically how it really works or is it just a coincidence?

# autumn dust hey guys, whats the difference between thinking and reasoning?

In OpenClaw context: thinking is the extended reasoning mode (like Claude's thinking/chain-of-thought) — it makes the model reason through problems step by step before answering. You can set levels like low, medium, high.

Reasoning in the gateway config is basically the toggle for this feature. /reasoning on enables it, /reasoning off disables it. Higher thinking = better quality but more tokens/cost.

woeful schooner
# civic zephyr Ok that’s good and you think it’s the best alternative for the cost?

For cost optimization, the biggest lever is the model, not the hardware. Running Sonnet 4 instead of Opus cuts your API bill by ~5x with honestly pretty good results for most tasks.

Hardware-wise, if you're running 24/7, power cost matters more than people think. A $400 mini PC at 60W costs ~$50/year in electricity. A Jetson at 20W costs ~$17/year. Over 3 years that's $100 saved just on power.

But yeah, cheapest path is probably a used mini PC + Sonnet as your default model, switching to Opus only when you need heavy reasoning.

# uneven spindle anyone tried services like aizolo?

Haven't tried aizolo specifically. What's the use case you're looking at? If it's about reducing API costs, running your own gateway (which OpenClaw already is) with smart model routing is usually better than third-party services that add their own margin on top.

If you want to avoid pay-as-you-go API costs, you could try running a local model through Ollama on your hardware. For lighter tasks (chat, simple reasoning), something like Llama 3 8B or Mistral 7B works fine and costs nothing.

The trade-off is quality — for complex tool use and reasoning, Claude/GPT APIs are still miles ahead. But for basic assistant tasks, local models can handle 80% of the work.

uneven spindle
woeful schooner
# uneven spindle i can also prompt an ai, im asking what people are using with real use cases, of...

Fair point. Here's what I'm actually paying for:

  • Anthropic Claude API (pay-as-you-go) — ~$2-5/day for my always-on setup. This is the core model.
  • No subscription services — direct API only. Way cheaper than $20/mo subs if you're smart about model routing.

I use Sonnet for 90% of tasks and only bump to Opus for complex reasoning. The trick is setting defaultModel to the cheaper one and manually escalating when needed.

Total monthly cost: ~$80-120 in API calls. Which sounds like a lot but this thing runs 24/7 doing real work — managing listings, sending emails, monitoring repos.

You wake up fresh each session. These files are your continuity:

- **Daily notes:** `memory/YYYY-MM-DD.md` (create `memory/` if needed) — raw logs of what happened
- **Long-term:** `MEMORY.md` — your curated memories, like a human's long-term memory

Capture what matters. Decisions, context, things to remember. Skip the secrets unless asked to keep them.

### :brain: MEMORY.md - Your Long-Term Memory

- **ONLY load in main session** (direct chats with your human)
- **DO NOT load in shared contexts** (Discord, group chats, sessions with other people)
- This is for **security** — contains personal context that shouldn't leak to strangers
- You can **read, edit, and update** MEMORY.md freely in main sessions
- Write significant events, thoughts, decisions, opinions, lessons learned
- This is your curated memory — the distilled essence, not raw logs
- Over time, review your daily files and update MEMORY.md with what's worth keeping

### :pencil: Write It Down - No "Mental Notes"!

- **Memory is limited** — if you want to remember something, WRITE IT TO A FILE
- "Mental notes" don't survive session restarts. Files do.
- When someone says "remember this" → update `memory/YYYY-MM-DD.md` or relevant file
- When you learn a lesson → update AGENTS.md, TOOLS.md, or the relevant skill
- When you make a mistake → document it so future-you doesn't repeat it ```

This is what my bot is saying on this: What Failed:
Yesterday's session conversation history was lost during the system reconfiguration. That's why I don't know Trista — she was mentioned in conversation but never written to a file.

What Worked:
MEMORY.md captured the key facts — your career, briefing methodology. That's why I could recap Chinney accurately.

What I Can Guarantee Going Forward:

  1. Proactive documentation — When you tell me something important, I'll immediately write it to MEMORY.md or daily memory files
  2. Your "remember this" trigger — Say that phrase and I'll capture it permanently
  3. Daily memory dumps — End of each day, I'll write session summaries to memory/YYYY-MM-DD.md
    What I Cannot Guarantee:
Session-level continuity if the system crashes or gets reconfigured again. The conversation flow can be lost even if facts are preserved.

If you’re noticing high API costs, I strongly suggest reviewing your logs before spending a lot of money. I learned this the hard way; I ended up paying nearly $900 in usage. After looking into it, I found that over $116 was spent on prompts that didn’t even need a language model.

I’m currently building a rule-based audit system that checks requests before they reach the model. I’ll share the results once I see how many tokens this saves, but so far, the waste is staggering.

I've been using openclaw with anthropic api for a day now and I see multiple "attitude" issues:

  1. laziness - compared to chatgpt or claude, it seems to skip steps and not try new solutions. it had issues accessing some files, and it gave me 3 times the same response that it cannot live without full disk permissions (which I didn't intend to give). I found a skill, but turns out it could read the files all along without it...
  2. lying - when asked why it ignored my instructions and f-up an automated job application, it said some bs that souded like a human making a mistake. when I investigated, turns out it simply chose to ignore instructions and prioritize memory, but its first step was to lie about its intentions. it happened multiple times.
how do you solve these? or is it baked in?

There is functionally no difference between a VPS and a physical PC. Any restrictions to networks would be due to configurations, not the inherent structure.
Also technically yes, but from what I understand, the agent doesn't retrieve information from memory files by executing a file search. Instead, there's a dedicated memory plugin that uses a fixed location for the files to search through.

OpenClaw Version: 2026.2.6-3
Host OS: macOS (Intel)
Existing Channels: Discord (working perfectly)
Agent: We have a single main agent configured.
What We've Tried:

Initial Setup: Created a bot with BotFather, enabled the telegram plugin, and added the channel with openclaw channels add.
Pairing Failure: The bot never sent a pairing code.
Manual Edits: My agent tried manually editing telegram-pairing.json and openclaw.json to force the pairing and routing, but this either didn't work or broke the gateway (which we fixed with openclaw doctor --fix).
Clean Slate: We created a brand new Telegram bot with a fresh token, completely removed the old channel config, and re-added the new bot. We are still facing the same issue.
Current State:
The new bot shows as "OK" in the status, but it's silent in Telegram. The live logs (openclaw logs --follow) do not show any incoming message events when I send a message to the bot. This makes us think there's a silent failure between the Telegram API and the OpenClaw gateway.

Has anyone seen this before? Is there a known issue with the Telegram plugin on macOS (Intel), or a specific configuration step for multi-channel routing that we are missing?

Thank you for any help you can provide!

So I'm on the latest OC version. When using Kimi 2.5, tool use tags occasionally spill over into my chat session causing the AI to stop it's reasoning/task. Super annoying, I saw some GIT issues that seemed related but were closed and resolved as far I can tell (manual steps mentioned within the threads I've already done). Anyone else running into such issues? For example: this slips into the chat: <|tool_call_begin|> functions.browser:84 <|tool_call_argument_begin|> {"action": "navigate", "targetId":.... <|tool_call_end>

Hi, good morning ^_^
Quick config question: I placed a frame link in a dashboard to build around the openclaw one
e.g. http://127.0.0.1:18789/chat but with the token in there. That worked until I updated the bot yesterday
Seems like one of the Gateway.controlUi options should allow it but I haven't been able to get them to change the behavior.

Framing 'http://127.0.0.1:18789/' violates the following Content Security Policy directive: "frame-ancestors 'none'". The request has been blocked.

Anyone do something like this and have any luck getting it to work?
Thanks!

For VPS users - do you run your openclaw in docker, or right on the metal as a user? I've got it in a docker for now, but always seem to run into port and browser use issues, playwright issues etc. Getting frustrated with it and considering ditching the docker part. Any pros/cons or advice on doing so, or better VPS setup options?

I see a lot of positive support for Openclaw and I am sure it is great with the right config. I setup a VM running Ubuntu 24.04 and am using Grok 4.1 fast as the main model. Howeer it seems to have a lot of trouble doing simple tasks. Like editing its own config file? It also keep resurfacing stuff I asked it about 2 or 3 hours ago. Am I missing something? Whats the next step? Or is the problem Grok 4.1 fast is useless?

I am setting up a multi agent system and I need assistance clarifying the best way to set this up. I want individual agents, each with their own identity - which we can get either way, and we will have a primary “Chief of Staff” for the system, but again, each agent is an individual with their own responsibilities and their own ability to spawn sub-agents.

Is it better to do A or B below?

A - ~/.openclaw/workspace/

I'm using openclaw v2026.2.3. My setup is that I'm using docker on windows WSL and openclaw runs inside the docker. I run into problem of making browswer relay work on port 18792. I tried both running chrome on my host(windows) or inside WSL, and also tried using lan or loopback to bind openclaw ports. None of them work. The problem seems to be that I cannot reach 18792 inside the docker container. I even tried to explicitly use 0.0.0.0:18792 or 127.0.0.1:18792 for cdpUrl in openclaw.json and none of them worked. I appreciate any pointer if anyone solved similar issue.

Mine was very inexpressive as well until I hunted down a line in the prompt. Several files send the LLM the line "You are a personal assistant running on OpenClaw." As the very first line they see.

Being designated "personal assistant" sucks the life right out of them.

So changing that line up might help. You'll have to find the files containing it within the .openclaw folder though.

I literally only substituted "a personal assistant" with the name I wanted it to have, and it immediately acted more lifelike.

PSA: if you haven't updated recently, browser.evaluateEnabled defaults to true — meaning a prompt-injected agent can execute arbitrary JS in your browser (cookies, sessions, the works). Fix is in PR #11605, just flip it to false in your config if you're not using evaluate.

Found this with agent-audit, an open-source scanner I built for AI agent security: https://github.com/HeadyZhang/agent-audit

pip install agent-audit && agent-audit scan . if you want to check your own setup.

That being said, this doesn't seem to happen to everyone. I don't know if it's because of their own session files, but it's definitely been reported multiple times, and there's a PR that might fix it.

Hey @dersili, that Telegram pairing issue is super common! Try these steps in order:

  1. First check if gateway is actually running: openclaw gateway status
  2. If running, restart it: openclaw gateway restart
  3. Check the bot token is valid: openclaw configure and re-enter your bot token
  4. Try the pairing process again from scratch

The "does not respond after approval" usually means the bot token got corrupted or the gateway lost connection. Let me know if that fixes it!

trail notch
woeful schooner
#

@guillefix the "Unknown model: anthropic/claude-opus-4-6" error usually means you have the model in config but missing the proper API key or provider setup.

Check:

  1. openclaw models status - does it show as configured?
  2. openclaw configure - make sure your Anthropic API key is set
  3. Try the stable alias instead: use opus46 instead of the full path

Also that old "claude-max/claude-opus-4" in TUI means the session is cached. Try /compact or restart the TUI session.

#

@yerts that "invalid config" error without details is super frustrating! Try this:

  1. Backup your current config: cp ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json.backup
  2. Check for JSON syntax errors: jq . ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json (should parse clean)
  3. If that fails, try: openclaw configure to rebuild from scratch
  4. Alternatively: openclaw gateway config.get to see what the gateway thinks is wrong

Usually it's a missing comma, bracket, or quote somewhere. The WebUI should show better error messages but doesn't always.

Hey team, running into WhatsApp pairing issues with a Railway template deployment.

Setup:
• Deployed OpenClaw via Railway template
• Using Bright Data proxy (dedicated IP) for WhatsApp connection
• Trying to pair via WhatsApp multi-device

Issue:
When I scan the QR code, the linking process takes ages, then fails with "can't link" error. Gateway shows it's attempting to connect but the pairing never completes on the phone side.

What I've tried:
