So true
👍 👍
frozen earth saya duck e-dating thread
ok so where have we left off
Saya saying
that's just wrong though lol
if someone asked "percentage vs true roll" or "wynntils imprecise whatever vs true roll" there would be 0 confusion (but it would be pretty cringe)
And then me asking
I still don’t see the difference between percentage and “wynntils imprecise”…
doom
no new comments, I've explained the same thing in multiple different ways and varying levels of context
if the above image doesn't tell you the difference between them idk what will
Got pinged 😭
To think the whole debate happened because saya thought I was talking about using wynntils for true roll instead of just meaning the wynntils %
bruh huh..
Ok.
Mechanism 1)
Step 1: integer rolled 30-130.
Step 2: multiplied to base value as a %, then rounded to yield rolled value.
Step 3: (rolled value - min value)/(max value - min value) displayed as % in brackets next to stat.
Terms (referring to the displayed number as a % in brackets): wynntils%, bracket%, wynntils roll, %
Mechanism 2)
Step 1: integer rolled 30-130.
Step 2: (integer - 30)/100 displayed as % in parentheses next to stat.
Terms (referring to the displayed number as a % in parentheses): wim%, true roll, internal roll, %
Mechanism 3)
Step 1: integer rolled 30-130.
Terms (referring to the integer): integer roll, numerical roll, true roll, internal roll, decimal roll (or if you’re Wynn metadata: “percent” :doom:)
my brain
Me and Frozen claim: “%” can be conflated with any of these 3 mechanisms with no context (usually just 1 and 2). “true roll” and similar terms make it so that mechanisms 2 and 3 are often conflated. Any term referring to mechanism 1 that isn’t just “%” never gets conflated with any other mechanism. Therefore, “%” is a bad term, and terminology for mechanisms 2 and 3 should be differentiated
Saya claim: “%” * can* be conflated with any of these 3 mechanisms with no context (usually just 1 and 2). “true roll” and similar terms make it so that mechanisms 2 and 3 are often conflated. Furthermore, any term referring to mechanism 1 can be conflated to either refer to the result of step 3, or the result forgoing all forms of rounding in all steps. Therefore, “%” is a bad term, and either differentiating terminology within mechanism 1 or between mechanisms 2 and 3 would clarify things
@hollow ravine @dense spruce get pinged 👀
bestie I've already said that isn't the case wtf
if you just meant the percent aspect of wynntils% then your statement makes no sense at all because you're comparing two identical aspects
I think we all agree it's just 1 and 2 that % is used for
And again you're ignoring the two aspects of 1 (what's specifically being compared)
Which is a meaningful difference within 1
Please describe what part of the steps described in mechanism 1 creates confusion between 2 aspects 😭
Meh I'm too tired to continue arguing this
And I will continue to ask people "49% wynntils or true roll" and people will know what it means
I won’t know what the “true roll” part means 😢
