@opal elk what I'm saying is obviously it's great if you can stop them from being assholes but that's not really where effort should be focused
why not?
you obviously wont be able to convince all of them
but even if you convince just 1 it would have paid off
I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying
could be
expend a tonne of energy try to change the minds of delusional fuckheads who have all the resources and information necessary to be better people and are actively purposefully choosing to ignore it so they can hurt people, and once their minds are changed they become not awful, normal people
or make effort to actually better the lives and help victims of people like them
directly benefitting the victims and not just trying to stop people trying to be awful from trying to be awful
i think you should do a combination of both
without a doubt the victims should be helped
to some degree of course
yea
ava please sit on me 🥺
i think that if you listen to their points and give fair arguments you will be able to change their minds
there's also different types of bigots how I see it
while some are clearly delusional
I'd personally put them in like 3 categories
sparking a constructive conversation will help others see their true colors
that's true to the end of getting bigots out of communities yeah
exactly
- casual idiots, ignorant and never tried to learn, consume content from class 3s who tell them what's easy to hear but like, though they are choosing to harm people essentially don't WANT TO, but just are doofuses, can be slowly convinced by planting seeds of critical thinking or showing them that {community} isn't how they've been told
- people being very wilfully ignorant, purposefully choosing to ignore things and be an asshole, do active harm etc, still out of ignorance but more malicious, kinda blurry I guess
- people who are just straight up through and through awful people, harming people out of pure hate, still definitely blurry with 2
then there'd also be a 0.5 I guess, just people who have never had a decent opportunity to learn, want to be decent people but were raised badly and not given much of an opportunity, can be convinced through just talking and explaining
i dont think the 3rd option truly exists all that much
ben shapiro
some people have been too radicalized
everyone thinks they're right
im right
no I'm right
youre left
ok true
but I'm right as well like I'm correct like my opinions are th good and the correct and true ones
trump is just something else
but ben shapiro on the other hand
he isnt dumb
hes something else
he's dumb and something else
not sure about the dumb part but he sure is something else
@pearl inlet I mean it's not exactly a case of 'making these decisions', just wanting to be seen a different way isn't smth irreversible and it's pretty harmless, there's no damage in trying to see what gender you're comfortable with and even if you decide you're cis then nothing's changed
it's not even like they can get surgery or hormones at middle school age
and saying it's smth to be 'more concerned over' than a child being left outside with an active shooter is straight up blatantly untrue lol
the only danger in it comes from people and society being fucking idiots about it
even if you don't think they should be transitioning, which is pretty confusing especially given that middle school goes up to a fairly high age in terms of realising you're trans, then at the least knowing about trans people since very early life is vital for children to be able to respect them and understand them, and that's gonna lead to people realising or at the least considering that they might be trans
if you're gonna comment on trans issues make some effort to learn about them
and at least consider them
else just don't reply to them..?
very cool anyway i like wynncraft
i dont
