ok so I have a couple of things to ask regarding what we've been discussing here, that need a bit of player input and I needed to see what you all thought - I'll give you a day or so for everyone to have a fair chance at talking
so you obviously want a tm chatting room, now here's the thing, if we truly do make one it would still have some rules, like the wynncraft channel does, those rules would be:
if we think about it for a bit the general idea would be that it can't be too off topic or just to spam memes in there - that means if a conversation has been really off topic for a while they will still be redirected towards the correct channels and if people ignore our warnings they will eventually get punished for it, simply put we can't have copy pasta spams/meme spams in a tm discussion channel because it would derail even the channel's own purpose, what are your guys opinions on this?
we basically don't want things to go in the same direction that guild community channel sometimes does, as in total mayhem

I believe the discussions, whether it's about an item or a meta, ultimately leans back to change in economy when done for a long time in #💰trade_market

And it's human nature to sometimes go offtopic, but eventually go back on topic, giving out harsh punishments such as mutes for simply going offtopic, especially after the channel is back on topic seems extremely far stretched and unnecessary

Besides discussion of any sort is important for a player based mmo economy to thrive where item prices are decided through people discussing about it not game telling the price.

Restricting discussion in trade market pros and cons

Pros

• easier moderation
• cleaner chat

Cons

• Unhealthy economy where majority of players are unable to know prices due to the lack of communication
• Toxicity caused by people being put off by the restrictive nature of the channel
• Lack of discussion regarding item prices / metas thus removing a lot of reasons economy on wynn works
• Killing off a community based off the perspective of the perspective of one or two people rather than the community in itself

The lack of transparency and subjective decisions on behalf of certain moderators is mostly what I'd say has caused this situation to even happen in the first place
So if tm channel is opened up again properly, having mods properly interact with the community in a non professional but rather open ended and normal manner would be a welcome change

alright guys I've come to relay a few things, which I know no one will be happy about, but better than letting things stay in the dark:

• you guys wanted a trade market community channel, somewhere you could talk with your fellow trade market peeps without annoying the players that were trying to sell items
• we've had several discussions about this topic on the team and with admins as well, to see what the best approach could be (there were a few issues to the original solution, which are as follow: people discussing off topic matters still need to use the off topic channel because that is its purpose, so we would still need to direct players being overly off topic to other channels. Would there be enough players left and topics related to the Trade Market to make it into a channel of it's own? That was the question everyone needed to answer)
• so we've decided to put this to the test, general consensus: we will try to follow their wishes if the usual TM channel isn't enough for them, that means we first needed to see if the 1 min / 30 secs cooldowns were enough to let them chat with each other, without the topics derailing too much (which we were seeing in the past and that was the main issue that made players often argue with each other)
  Conclusion we've reached: the cooldown has actually done it's job so far. Unfortunately we will not be implementing a second channel just for chatting, I know that not everyone will not be happy with this, and for those that are I'm sorry this was the decision we've reached, it doesn't mean you can't chat in the TM channel, you can as long as it's related to the topic
