Yeah, hidden I feel helps my acc tremendously because I’m much more focused on counting and keeping a steady rhythm without other clutter on the screen and or trying to focus on approach circles
And I find it interesting that you mention aiming helping with that. I have pretty flowy aim as a whole, though I do make sharp and snappy movements without much effort, my cursor rarely ever stops fully on objects. I don’t really know whether this is good or bad, like if you watch owc matches, everyone haults completely on a lot of objects, always consistent with each other too, which I assume helps more with rhythm than a more flowy aim style that’s mostly focused more on getting the right velocity between notes, even if still rhythm oriented
My view has been sorta like, once I’m comfortable reading at a certain level, I can focus a lot more on tapping consistently than otherwise could if I’m constantly trying to put a lot of effort into keeping up with and processing what I’m looking at on the screen

Even just turning off hr and keeping hidden in a lot of maps does not improve my plays at all if the cs with hr is 5.2 or larger, because then it just becomes way too big imo
But I do plan on going back to the roots and learning lower ar and no hidden play eventually
currently I’m just jamming a bunch of mid to high 4* insane diffs so I can get more comfortable with different bursts, streams, and faster reading. I could keep getting top plays on 3 star hard diff maps but I’m not gonna improve as fast playing stuff that I can easily play
At least, from my experience:
playing maps that’s difficult = faster improvement
playing maps that you’re comfortable with = training consistency
playing maps thag you can’t comprehend at all = neat to play once, but not going to do much for improvement unless they’re speedy bois that give a workout to your tapping arm (which can help improve speed over time)

can confirm taiko is really good at training finger control however I’d still say it’s more worth your time to keep improving it on standard, as the other skills you practice and improve on in the process will actually benefit you long term rather than useless taiko reading and shit that barely has an effect on standard gameplay

Unless you’re single tapping with your standard tapping hand, but even then, streams and bursts have patterns that don’t flow well with a single hand tapping them, so while it still trains finger control, it’s not at a fast rate by any means

Your dominant hand will always generally be faster than your non-dominant hand, and just really easy to control in general. Unfortunately, you don't get to use that hand for tapping in standard unless you're using mouse or pen buttons pepega
Considering streams in taiko are typically alternated between hands, in order to actually practice consistent alternating at 1/4 spacing in taiko on one hand, the stream A) needs to be twice as fast as your practicing, and B) needs to be ddkkddkkddkk (assuming you play kddk and not like ddkk or whatever people do), since it will be left index, right index, left middle, right middle (or whatever fingers you use) consistently throughout that pattern
There are other patterns that can be used, but yeah
And generally trying to practice consistent streaming with one hand with taiko streams is not really efficient in general, since there's a much different flow than typical two finger streaming in standard
I think it's less about standard or taiko specifically increasing speed in the other mode, and more to do with the fact that you've just done something in the past to help train control or speed

In taiko I can miss like 3 times and still end with a 99.8 or some shit and only get like 20-30 less pp maybe (?) from like a 320pp map at 100%
But in standard, that miss count and that acc would still be a huge L because of how influential combo is to pp gain
unless those misses are literally the last three notes of the map
but I do think that if you get like 1x 100 in the last kiai vs like 10x 100s in the intro, the fact that the 10x 100 play is still way higher in score is fucked and needs to change

They just make your best pp play the play that shows up on the leaderboards (?) They already do it to an extent with different mod combos
Like if I ezdt a map and have a worse score than an hdhr play, it’ll still likely be the one on the leaderboards because it’s worth more
the literal only issue with this is that you wouldn’t be able to intentionally nuke plays (oh no)

I guess with standard ez affects more things than it does in taiko. In taiko all it does is slow the slider velocity (approach rate) and it has an effect on the od, and that's literally it, so it's piss easy
Anyway, I think dt is objectively more difficult on 99% of maps than hdhr is on the same map, I was just using different mod combos to explain a point lmao
