Not really an SS player, mostly just like high acc and it's hard to have good acc on 3* maps and under without just having an SS since like a single 50 yeets you to like 95 mid way through the map lmfao

But yeah, idk. It's hard to read without hidden often times, feels too cluttery, and high circle size is also really cluttery for me. 5.5-7 is a comfortable circle size

My struggle is that I want to learn how to alternate since I'm so used to single tapping from the way I play taiko. All of those are mostly single tapped as well, but I don't have enough stamina or accuracy with my left hand to do that really

Especially once I get to faster bpm stuff and more 1/4 rhythms and bursts, just easier to try and learn now

End goal for standard though, god damn it's such a good song and the taiko map of this is probably my favorite taiko map of all time. 11 minutes of suffering but at least you have some metal to listen to !

The taiko map is like 6.5sr I think, this one is 7.5 for standard. Roughly same difficulty, I'd say (considering everything in taiko like 6-9 stars got condensed to 6-7 stars with the pp update)

But yeah, hopefully if I stay consistent, I'll be able to HDHR kyrie by the end of the month

I guess in a sense, combos matter in taiko, since if you break a combo it means you missed a note. Whereas in Standard, you can break combo without technically missing on sliders

I think the main reason I’m starting with mods in standard is due to having a better sense of the game as a whole, playing taiko for several years. My issue in taiko is that I’m so used to no mod that trying to learn anything other than DT is really difficult for me to grasp, I dunno why

I genuinely do like HD a lot though, helps declutter things. HR really just depends on whatever the base CS/OD is though

5.5-6.5 is like the comfort range for most ‘hard’ difficulty maps that I’m playing. 7+ isn’t bad with easier stuff but once you start adding jumps it’s a bit monka

Combo scoring is nearly nonexistent in taiko, basically you get a little extra points per hit at 50 combo, again at 100, and again at 200 but it doesn't scale heavily. Literally nothing compared to standard or the other modes

Standard is death for streams

Taiko has the difficulty of patterns, which are extremely difficult to play and read at times, but you also alternate hands every key click in streams of 16th notes. It’s much less straining and overall easier
edit: you alternate hands every click unless you’re a ddkk player and have chosen death for some reason*

In standard you don’t have that luxury. You do get to alternate fingers. On top of that, you’re usually using your non-dominant hand for key taps which also means your dexterity with that hand likely needs a lot of training before you can play harder songs
