I feel like S ranks are so much easier in standard than in taiko. slider breaking doesn't yeet the s rank, whereas in taiko, the only thing you hit that count towards acc at all are full objects (sliders and spinners don't) and if you drop any meaningful object, you get a miss so most of my plays are instead just like 99.75% A ranks lmao
but also don't care as much since combo in taiko isn't taken into account for pp whereas in standard, your combo heavily influences how much of the map's pp you gain

well from what i've seen, mania, standard, and taiko scoring system is a lot better than catch's scoring system imo
in catch, it's really easy to get >99% on a vast majority of the maps
and going from 100% to 99% acc on an fc only leads to a decrease of roughly 5% p p
combo however, is weighted way too much
a break in the middle of the map will set you back ~33% p p
then an additional 3% for every misses as well
plus, it isn't like the other modes where you can ignore a miss and move onto the next note. If you miss on a hyperdash, you can say goodbye to the next few lots of notes as well
so it ends up being all about combo
which just kills motivation and fun imo

most the 4-5 star stuff I play atm with hdhr is worth 250-350pp for 99.5+ acc, which isn't that unrealistic. 5.5-6.5 stuff is often between 450-600pp, and 7 star stuff is like 650. You can get to 1k with just 500-650pp plays so yeah, who knows
without needing dt farm or crazy 8-9 star stuff

but yeah, I don't think it would be a quick process, but on paper it's really not that difficult, so long as you put the time in
especially when the only thing that actually gets harder as you progress through sr with hdhr is just object density really (and speed kinda for insane diffs, but not really. just that higher bpm often tends to up a song's sr a little compared to other insane diffs. more frequent to find faster maps once past 5 stars though)
Obviously that varies between different types of maps, but since the ar and od are 10 on everything, and cs whether it be the standard 5.2 or up to 6.5, doesn't really affect how well I perform already, nothing really gets increasingly difficult in regards to the difficulty values of each map

even really fast improvers i know don't get to like, high 4 digit in the 2 year timeframe (and they usually prefer to derank a little and hang around in 5 digit for tourneys)
you already have a couple hundred hours iirc but that's not enough to build you to 3 digit in 2 years unless your speed really is that crazy from taiko

In taiko it's kinda just like, the speed of a map determines the star rating (to an extent). You can only put so many objects and it's easy to cross into the "over mapping" territory
you can really only mess with slider velocity and that's kinda it, some random things here and there, but nothing else that really lets emphasize certain bits of a song
with standard you have like 1000 different things you can use in order to express the song through the way you map it, and often times there's a lot you can do with a map even if a song is slower so it's not just a snooze fest

yeah pretty much. I mean, streams and deathstreams have some reading to them but taiko is all based around the same inner drum and rim patterns. Streams are just chunked by each pattern and built by mashing said patterns together. Once you can read and play the base patterns that you learn from 4 star oni diff maps, it's pretty much only a speed/stamina game with the occasional slider velocity weird tech stuff thrown in
and just in general, after playing standard for a while, a lot of taiko maps just feel like they lack life due to a lack of that slider velocity change or a scroll speed that doesn't feel lively enough, in a sense
Like there's a loved map for Save Me in taiko and I really liked the map when I actively played, but playing it now, the scroll speed (slider velocity) just feels really slow and unexciting. Just makes the map feel lackluster as a whole because of that alone

one of my top plays on taiko is me 30 missing a super hard 8.1* marathon
but it was still a great play compared to normal cause I got like 30x miss and 96% acc compared to before which was ~60x miss and 90% acc

I'm generally pretty okay with std score and pp.
The thing I dislike the most regarding combo scoring is that you can have a 10x 100 play where all of those 100s are at the start of the map, vs a 1x 100 play where it's at the end, and the 10x 100 play is your "top play"
overall though, I like that pp from std is heavily skewed towards acc/combo, because it means high acc players get heavily rewarded for consistent 99+ acc

A bit stricter with hr, but assuming you're fcing, the fact that it slashes the pp a lot for even having like below 98% acc makes it feel really rewarding to have a high acc play, and I prefer that a lot
but it does come with the downside of a string of unfortunate 100s being able to neuter your performance of said play
taiko scoring is based though, idk much about the other modes, but pretty much entirely acc based (since combo score doesn't increase past like 200 combo)
