There are certain profession requirements to do quests (Rise of Quartron, Crop Failure and The Shadow of the Beast.) In total, you will need level 20 in all gathering professions (Mining, Woodcutting, Farming and Fishing) to begin those quests. Beyond that, professions (abbreviated as profs) are not needed for progression, they only slow down your levelling process.

Money is very irrelevant until endgame so don't focus on making money as much. If you are endgame and are looking to make money, Lootrunning is the best way to get money. Outside of Lootrunning, you have Raids, Forgery, Professions and Ingredient Farming.

The first time you will actually need decent gear is for CoW at level 68 so don't worry too much about all your stuff before this. Some good rules of thumb are just using the highest level legendary weapon and DON'T try to spread out all your skill points across all 5 elements, 3 will do very well (would recommend EWF for damage, WFA for tankiness but bad damage, and ETW for pro gamers)

If your having trouble on some mobs or bosses I recommend buying Skill Potions. They give you a set amount of skill points and give stats like +36% Main Damage or 30%+ Spell Damage. (PLEASE NOTE THEY ARE EXPENSIVE SO IF YOU ANT TO QUICKLY KILL THE BOSS JUST BUY STRENGTH AND DEXTERITY SKILL POTIONS)
