#Majin's move callouts should be the standard for boss fights

Might be a hot take, but I think Majin's move callouts should be the standard for boss fights.

I know, I know, it's only done to fit the character, because Majin loves the sound of his own voice and attacks so much that he calls them out, but it made for a really really easy tell for what move he was going to use and learn his moveset, without compromising on the difficulty of the fight (It's still a decently hard fight).
In a game like Minecraft, it's kinda hard for me to recognise the tells in the animations prior to the attacks, so I feel this change would make it a lot easier for casuals.

I agree to some extent. Attacks should have an indication so that you can react. That also makes skill and practise more important then pure luck. I don't however think that litterally saying the name of the attack fits other bosses. A great example of good indication is the Canyon Colossus. No text required, but you can still tell what attack he is about to do, if you know what to look for.

yeah just better telegraphed attacks in general

Agree, this could make some builds less WS dependant and could also make more niches such as generalistic builds more usable for non-telegraphed attacks with little dmg

valid mesa
#

so just as a reference, not only typical players appreciate that, ppl with certain health conditions also appreciate that even more

I've done no hit tna solo from 6m hp, it's a very skill based fight

it's something with fruma bosses where the main story ones have indicators. i liked it about most bosses. I could tell what kind of attack they would do after a bit

west wedge
#

callouts don't fit the other bosses but i agree that attacks should be better telegraphed.. this could go as far as straight up showing where an attack will hit with a red circle vfx before it happens

#

in this same vain i don't like how graid tcc tells u what attack comes next on the screen, instead of making it readable ingame on the map. it breaks the immersion

#

wtp moab also shouldn't flash on the screen like it does.. there should just be a loud sound effect

viscid dome
#

we need a move callout that just completely lies to the player 🔥

Majin acutally is just the best non raid boss in the game and its not close

imo the sound effect would be enough

And also that there’s so much shit in that arena in the first place. I do agree that it needs to have a better indicator.

i think it would be better to have anathema fly up into the air where she's unreachable for the first bomb of the fight just so ppl learn there's a bomb they gotta deal with whenever they hear its sound effect

I dunno, I would prefer they put more trust in the players than just making all of the bosses shout out what they’re doing, like a supervillain spilling the beans on their master plan

mystic sentinel
#

yeah no shouts are not the way, just telegraph like in any other game

#

this way you can play reactive and not rely on just moving around fast enough to avoid random attacks

mighty linden
#

Please just telegraph well with boss posture, movements, and sound effects, don’t Majinify every boss

Be real majin is the only insane person who would give a name to all his spells

I disagree with this because its to anime for them to say every attack...
charactures with large ego should shout their moves but some wont

#

But there can be signs maybe certain sounds

Orphion would be so annoying if he had to shout his attacks

yup

Nah tbh this was a cool 1 time skit that should be left there

Reason I suggest sound queues

Don't... We kinda have those tho?

to be fair fighting a robot who does it would be funny. Just in corkus and hearing COMMENCING FLAMETHROWER

people will see a massive fucking nuke in the arena and just kinda

other than that I'd agree

My personal take on this is:
Majin is allowed to shout his moves because he is a self-obsessed megalomaniac

#

other bosses should get clear tells that are visible through the ability vfx spam

also I haven't tried Zhiroak yet, but the Queen I'd say was fine in beta. Idk if I'd say her attacks have true telegraphs, but like they're recognizable enough and she usually gives you enough space to react to them anyways (unlike a certain paladin type guy)

I did Monster lightbender with like 80k ehp or something dumb on beta, thrunda fallen with prolly 10-20k ehp on beta, Lament lightbender 20k ehp on live, and I did Rage Convergence paladin on live 33k ehp (but that is at full hp when I am using bloodpact to mimic fallen and rage up to under half hp)

#

I think you just gotta build 20-30k ehp for fruma with some health sustain and u r chillin homie

untold tundra
#

I also did monster lb and it was stupidly easy, but arc feels impossible. He has 0 downtime, and hurling meteors or tornadoes obscures basically any chance to read his attacks

mighty linden
untold tundra

Attacks could still be changed to be clearer to read, and ofc they could be spaced out. Half /j, but what kind of build does Tasim have to have crazy ehp, DPS, ws, and the mana to be chaining spells like that

untold tundra
#

what's the DPS on it? It looks fairly similar to the arc build I was using

#

except more hpr

mighty linden
untold tundra
#

yeah, that checks out. I get like 250k without Judra (which is basically a death sentence against these bosses anyways)

mighty linden
# untold tundra except more hpr

It’s made to just sustain enough to be able to dip into rage when you want some more damage, or to slow down if you wanna play it safe and full heal

Just worth noting as well that text-based telegraphs don’t literally need to be bosses shouting their attacks. There are plenty of MMOs out there where bosses at least partially telegraph their attacks with cast bars that say the name of the attack and indicate when it will happen, for instance. (And many games that do this don’t telegraph 100% of the attacks via castbars—sometimes the cast bar just tells you “mechanic X is starting” but doing mechanic X requires looking at lots of other telegraphs and reacting appropriately).

#

I could 100% see the benefit of having an “enable cast bars” toggle as some sort of accessibility option, for instance

crimson wraith
#

it depends to be honest cast bars are neat but i think a lot of bosses like annie or tcc are clear enough with their animations for them not to need any (like imagine if they added cast bars to sekiro bosses)
