items 2.0 feels like a seizure, its overcrowded and generally harder to read
the new damage font looks odd and out of place
and having been playing a lot of boltslinger it just got downgraded in like 3 main ways:

  • the old arrow bomb particles are now like 5 frames of high res explosions, which are noticably very low frame rate, and a design with this resolution just completly loses the mc mmorpg vibe
  • the new ga models are now a downgrade, we lost our cute slick winged crossbows for a bulky design that overlaps with itself (if 4 ga) and has animated shots? but it just looks like its wobbling
  • snow storm.

on the upside of things the new quest dialogs are gorgeous but for the most part wynncraft lost some of its charm for me i would like to see the many of the vfx stuff be reverted to particles tbh but thats never happening unfortunately, ik there are visual downgrades on other archtypes too but i havent touched them much, i HAVE seen the new shaman melee... yikes... at least sharpshooter looks good

the conclusion to this- please please change the fonts on damage and items and go back to vertical on the skill points, and a lot of the vfx need to be rethought in the context of actual gameplay experience

I think the font change is debatably worse but only because some people have a harder time reading it.
But the new UI and VFX are improvements. New UI is more unique and organized, and I don't have a huge text of lore underneath all my stats that stretch the weapon stats off-screen.
The new VFX are way more unique and easier to read than the old particles. I had a hard time telling how far my AOEs and totems reached with particles, mainly because they're small but also because they're not really distinct. The new vfx make it easier to tell.
I understand that not all of the vfx look great (multi-hit especially looks really stupid), but the particles beforehand didn't really look all too interesting anyways.
I do agree that sometimes they make too much visual noise (mainly spell spam), but the old particles were pretty huge too. I think now more people are complaining about it because they can't reduce the VFX the same way they could reduce particles. And you're never going to fully the visual noise if there are multiple playstyles centered around spamming spells.

I mean ultimately the game's gonna be spell spam in a lot of contexts and if they're not gonna give us as much freedom as particles did with their settings as particles did it's borderline unplayability at times

item readability also got a lot worse by having the ID values be right aligned while the ID itself is on the left, legit made it exhausting to look at the new fruma items while trying to figure them out

you can try to argue for aesthetics but i tried to use the unmodded item layouts throughout my fruma playthrough while discovering the new items. I had to change back to the old one half way in because of how it genuinely made it exhausting and way harder to understand each item, like when looking at an item for the first time with this layout it makes it more difficult to ascertain what it does/gives you.

It's honestly frustating when the new stuff isn't even all that cool looking (ie visual clutter, less visibility in team content, overall too few frames for some animations)

the vfx explosions look so bad, and its not because the model its just the limitations of displays like that being either forced to be 2d or have way more displays to do anything 3d. like old explosions didnt block your site, moved in 3d, and still felt powerful but the news ones just look like spawning a png its just... whelming...
certain effects just work better with particles i dont think it needs to be one or the other most vfxs are an improvement but there are somethings particles can do better especially things that need to act on 3 dimensions while also keeping visibility, or even just things that need to feel responsive such as phantom ray

some of the vfx (most of warrior and lightbender) looks absolutely fucking phenomenal and some of it just looks so mediocre or outright trash (aura and spin attack)

I tried /toggle vfx medium (as low just makes them disappear) and it does make them more transparent but still really busy on screen

YEAHHH i was going to mention that. Probably just because some were made first and such, like backstab, but spin attack can SURELY look prettier with how vital it is on the tree??? Or, idk, give it firey colors with the gunpowder node (i don't remember what it was called, bur it was something about extra damage on spin attack and fire themed i think?)

It is a lot to ask though, considering that it,,, works, I guess; but it could just really look SO much nicer, considering how well the CT did with most other VFX,,,vdhnfkskf

Makes it less confusing for new players in some cases like saying "You should aim for 70% on Water Damage" on Lament for example. Then they might go "70% Wynntils or ?" And its just unecessarily confusing.
