#I can almost do something with this information - please add raw "XP to Level Up" to this menu

I can almost do something with this information. Almost. It is sooooo close to being helpful.

Please add a raw XP needed until your next level value here. Not % left. Not raw value you've gained since your last level up. Not raw value total overall.

Just raw value of XP left.

Nothing in the game measures XP as a % of your progress to next level EXCEPT for this character menu. Nothing in the character menu measures distance from your next level in raw XP. I currently can do literally nothing with this information, but only just barely.

Some ideas for how to implement:

  • Calculate it like this: (Total XP needed to reach the next level) - (Total XP you currently have).
  • Improve readability. Abbreviate long numbers or add commas. 1234567 becomes 1.2m or 1,234,567. 123456 becomes 123.5k or 123,456. 123 stays 123.
  • Call the metric something like XP til Level Up, XP to Next Level, or XP Needed.
  • Either keep the current XP % value, remove it, or rename it to better signal the difference between Raw XP to Next Level and Percent of XP Progress Already Achieved To Next Level. But shorter than that.

I'll save you some time. Here's some probably-unhelpful responses.

  • But you can calculate it if you minimize the game, look up a big table on the wiki, grab a calculator/phone app/Excel, find the difference between levels, type it in, multiply that difference by the difference between 100% and my character menu XP %. You also have to know where to find the info and how to do the proper algebra.
  • Content gives a consistent % XP for its required level... if you are around that level and aren't doing quests or dungeons 10+ levels later. And if you don't actually know how to measure statistical consistency.
  • Just use Wynntils. In the Minecraft MMO whose main schticks include "no really, you don't need any mods"
  • Just pretend the information is helpful.

Yes please, recycled but still yes

fraction for gatherered / required would be best imo

% is very helpful for gauging time spent

it is harder to imagine a raw value

but yes raw numbers would be helpful

this balances both worlds (actually it isn’t really a balance, it is like mega ultra best super duper no tradeoff)

agreed but im just gonna nitpick on that where have you read anything that the server not requiring mods is it's "main shtick"

or this, right after (paraphrasing) "the beautiful minecraft mmorpg that took a ton of people forever to make"

not to say that basic qol should be granted by mods tho

#

although that is a matter of perspective itself

like you can run hypixel skyblock modless but aint nobody doing this

#

case in point wynncraft does not discourage mod usage but i dont think op was implying this nor is this very relevant to the discussion so /shrug

Agreed. Usability should not be something devs leave for the community to figure out.

idk ig it could be more helpful? concvention is usually what you’ve done over total tho because it drops the whole number and ur counting upward ex lvl 104 and 3/4 becomes 3/4 to next level

Once Old School Runescape started gradually improving their modless base game usability, they started taking off.

I hate it when movies do time remaining on the right hand side of the progression bar

#

much better when progressed time Is on the left and total time is on the right

odd rock
#

And yes I totally agree with you on videos. XD But I think the general use case here is different enough that the principle no longer applies.

unique vale
#

solution is a toggle :D

odd rock
#

Oh that could be a good idea! Not sure how easy or hard that would be to implement, but if possible it could work.

hold shift probably

#

i dont see why percentage and raw couldnt just be shown together tho

odd rock
#

I still prefer a solid single number for how much I need left. Compared to X/Y.

#

I was joking

wynncraft doesn’t like toggles in general and a toggle here would be silly

odd rock
#

Ohhhh lol ok. I've seen that kind of UI measurement unit toggle in other video games, but those usually can have a more robust Settings panel.

oh another thing that page is supposed to show your stats, not the stats you don't have.

thats why it should be gained / total rather than yet to gain / total

I alrdy explained my preference with example and other reasoning

#

now I just add this because if it is just a matter of preference then consistency should be a factor

#

don’t need to put extra words to describe what smth is because you want it to be different when context allows you to use fewer words and show expected numbers
