"Before we go over them, a quick reassurance: you will not lose any existing perks, even if you don't have a rank. For example, character slot changes will not affect your current slots, no matter your rank (even if you have none!)."

thats only if you already had an item on that slot, but after claiming the item the slot would lock itself

As said in other threads and in the quote from the update page it is our full intention that you should get access to all the same perks that you had pre update and would only be affected if you are a brand new player.
Instances of this are being looked into and will be resolved soon
