TL;DR The Mask's chants don't put enough value in general gameplay.
The only benefits you gain are just Flavor Stats to the masks current upsides that last for around 3s with an even longer downtime of 7 seconds that is put onto them as well.
this might incentivize a Play style of " get in get out " kind of play style with swapping for ws from Heretic -> de-buff by getting close with Lunatic -> swapping to gain a Safety net from Fanatic.
But this kind of just gets overshadowed by the fact that Awakened can easily be built up effectively having full uptime of all the Mask benefits
and yes the Chants still work with Awakened (With Awakened also activating them all at once) but players are better off casting other spells that will give more impact in a fight than needing to swap 3 times to get all of the chant's benefits, or even just once for 1 buff depending on the rotation
Example: on Lunatic but want Lunatics Chant I would need to cast uproot 3 times (or twice by deactivating and re-activating ) for +15% dmg multiplier for 3 second, when I could cast aura 3 times and get more damage in and killing the mob faster. ( which isn't even helpful in parties since EC is a thing and does way better )
please just give them actual value in gameplay i genuinely only see their benefits when I'm activating Awakened and never again
