#Raid Tutorial Rooms

"new people don't read them" ok so make them better. Easier to understand. The answer is not "force them to lose and then watch outdated YouTube videos about it"
some new people read things. source: I read things when I'm new to them
most new people dont read things. source: my last 3 pf raids in a row
most, not all
its more fun when you go in blind struggle then go check the tutorial room
3 is a small sample size anyway. the original post didn't include a "most" qualifier, so a sample size of 1 was enough to disprove it
4*
removing the tutorial is just gonna make things worse
the solution is to make them say something more useful than "fight! gather! parkour!"
"what do i do here?"
"fight, gather and parkour"
"yeah no shit i have to fight gather and parkour in this game, that's what i've been doing ever since lvl 1. What exactly am i supposed to fight, gather and parkour?"
"erm. not my problem ok bye"
Fight! Gather! Parkour!
I've heard first hand from less experienced players that they are a step towards removing the boundaries for raiding
Adding more text would make them less likely to be read and I think they would be read more if people weren't mad the second that their raid takes 5 seconds longer
Some people are just willfully ignorant.
"Why didn't you do X and progress the room?"
"I'm new to the raid, I didn't know how."
"Why didn't you read the instructions or ask for clarification?"
"I'll read it next time OK?"
He then proceeds not to read it the next time, and the same conversation repeats a few days later...
Some still read it though, I did when they were added.
correct mindset so long as the room actually instructs you with something
which, to be fair, some of them do
others however look like they're there to mock new players or smth
Weaponized incompetence
they probably just zone out and see that everyone else went to the door so they should go too
they do read them in my experience but either way, terrible post
this happens more often than i hope they would. probably because they feel "forced" to skip when everyone is at the portal to the next room.

This ^^
i agree theres better ways of giving info that vague prerooms but just abandoning turorials is not the way to go
Maybe make the tutorial rooms availabe outside the raid so ppl can take time to read it
And suggest they go through it if its their first time at that raid
Pull a festival of the blizzard and have a tutorial the game doesn't stop shoving in your face until you either A: do the tutorial or B: complete a run without issue?
At least I think I remember bliz brawl having a poppup telling you to please dear god I'm begging you do the tutorial first that doesn't go away until one of those condiditons are met.
On the first raid of the account make the players go through a cutscene that explains every room
playing CT's advocate, this would be a PIA because if a room even got slightly changed, theyd have to go back in and rework the cutscene's to explain the new rooms
in theory it's a great idea, but the extra workload that would be put on with it wouldnt make it worth it
A forced tutorial like fggs selection might be something but..:bleh
Although I disagree with the post it is surprising the amount of people who don't even know how rooms operate before entering a raid. You'd think they'd at least spend five minutes reading up the wiki pages first
This is expecting too much of your average online gamer
you wouldn't think so but it is :/
And ye i support this so much, hell i also want 1 this for so much of content
can we get to 100 dislikes in a day chat
Who even is the record holder, foxxo or fowl
foxxo probs
would be very helpful if objectives were higjligjted for the first like 2 experiences in each room
people definitely read them
like game told u where to go
The maze room people:
maze is so goofy - absolutely terrible room
The people i get matched up with may have read it, but they didnt understand any of it
people may read them but not understand if they cant read english(which seems to be increasing these days)
They always skip the instructions
If they read it, but still struggle it's understandable since it's kind of a lot to take in at first.
But no, they just sprint towards the exit of the tutorial room.
people should also be able to like hold their content book or smth to see the instructions
(especially in stuff like maze room or amth)
I want people to learn how to use their movement spells : )
u have to be so accurate with trapper
and mage too
maybe I just bad idk
Wait it's possible to skip with trapper?
maze?
Does the hook work on the invisible path
O
u save 1 ap to put nowhere
It's always the ghook and repurposed vessel users
I don’t think u can hook barriers D:
Nop
this thread doin fowlgorithm numbers 🗣️ 🗣️ 🗣️
my bad
please fix this i want to be able to grapple in maze room
This happens a lot too
No grapple for you
babyrage
I think these could be removed from g raids, but regular raids should keep them
given that theyre slowly reworking rooms to change during graids, they should probably stay for them too
Well shoot, nevermind
also like it isn’t like u have to do normal raids before u do graids
and @thick lake if there are instruction rooms that have wrong information or could be done better then please suggest that!
I'm sure that ct would be happy to go and change the hologram descriptors or add something simple right now
what would people's thoughts be on making everyone invisible for the first 10 seconds of an instruction room or something to remove pressure to go to exit
i think this would help but people would probably just say "whos taking so long"
that would be cool
still better than rn tho
reading in 10 seconds is a bit of a challenge tho
could be disabled in graids tbh
Would it be possible to add some area with the tutorial rooms near the raid keeper so you can just go look at them before you do the raid? I'm not sure if that would be too confusing. Another thing could be having the option to opt out of tutorial rooms so if everyone is familiar with the raid they can just get straight to the challenge
Wait i love instruction rooms they let me get texts out or check emails
yeah i love hammer room too cause like i can just do hw or smth
Clearly someone doesnt damage farm on the mobs
I’ve definitely had a few tcc parties where no one knows how to defend, idk if it’s possible but adding like an interactive for astral defense in the instruction room without risking a raid fail would be nice
yeah but you knew how to defend!
I think you might be missing the point
i also don’t like the astal 5 heart nerf. i understand its to make sure someone defends (which, with 4 paths, doesnt make sense) but with high ping and lag you can easily run it down. i think it should be more forgiving if there is somebody defending, as in, if nobody defends meteors fall faster and astal loses health way quicker
or make it so u dont have to defend if skilled. it would be nice if u could skip defend
like just make it possible again
You can?
You used to be able to
you can???
No like you still can
in a graid?
Its a death sentence in prinder
someone needs to teach me this
All you need its to not fall on parkour and kill axon fast enough
I always default to defending astal if no one says anything, can't trust pfinder monkeys to do squat sometimes
It sucks but I no longer randomly fail tcc on the def room lol
I usually do boulders and defend or do goliath and defend depending on what im playing/whp im playing with
But if someone who doesn’t know how to defend beats me to it there’s not much you can do about it
This
I've met people who just kinda
stand in the circle
and beg for help in chat
and are just generally incompetent
Also god forbid the other 3 players all don’t want to do parkour and ur stuck there defending for 3 minutes while they stand around
But they never actually get out of the circle even if everyone is spamming for them too
I HAVE FELT THIS
even in graids
But yeah if something interactive in the tutorial room was added to where you could defend there and see twould be great
Also i would love it if the giant ass wall in the middle of escort instruction room was removed because the only thing it’s good at smacking you in the face if you want to movement spell into the portal
Skill issue
And why
Okay but in all seriousness where else would they put the wall.
actually untrue, if i charge and land in the portal its wings room and im happy
tbh im not even sure why the wall is there
Well Ig they could rotate it
Maybe if u could flip the switch and the wall lowered it would make sense
Ye or like put it to the side next to where the switch is
Afaik thats the only instruction room that just has an obstacle in front of you
Ig lava too but its not as intrusive
chat we are so close to 100 in under 24h
What did they say after
Or did the game just auto-tp eventually
Also hi there hello it me
What’s up
having the option is better than not having anything, and since "dev time", either they overhaul it, or leave it as is, and they have better things to do.
5
now this is a foxxo level threat
Fr
buh
aint wrong
we're gonna try a potential replacement for instruction rooms hopefully in the next patch (starting with orphion tower), let us know what you think!
neat
And um.. whens the earliest possible we can uh… get this feedback back to you?
!!!!!
when the patch drops 🙂
before the patch drops
I THINK THIS IS BAD.
When will the patch drop
Will Wynn live?
Someone brought up a good point
But instruction rooms should be disabled in graid
its not impossible that graids add extra challenges to rooms that need to be explained via instruction rooms
so its probably best to keep them
yknow, for consistency's sake
tbh i'm more opposed to adding major room differences between graids and normal raids, cuz then you have to pick between playing a normal raid with friends who might not be in your guild or playing the (usually) more fun version of the raid
invite your friends to your guild
Havign friends in who are chiefs in 3 different guilds goes hard
Inaccesible graids go hard
I love not being able to do GRaids with friends because I'm not in a mega guild with 70+ active players
dw it only takes having 4-6 other active players, you just gotta be patient sometimes 🙂
That's a really large ask, just so you know. Getting multiple people who aren't your friends IRL, who HAVENT already joined another guild, and who will also continue playing into the end game
might not make it for next patch 😔
😔
