FOR THE RECORD: I am well aware that this just came out. I am aware that things may take time to develop. I do not think that these facts should stop me from making feedback on it. With all of that said...

Since the maintenance finished and the new NA/EU servers dropped, pfinder raids seem to still put players in a random server in order to start the raid. This can cause really big lag issues for those who are further away from the randomly chosen server's proxy. On one hand, this makes the experience equal for those in NA or EU ping-wise, especially compared to before when it was just worse if you weren't in NA. On the other, it makes it significantly harder for players from different regions to actually want to play with each other because of these lag issues.

Pfinder in raids was already sketchy to begin with. You'd get anyone with any build, or any amount of knowledge of the raid. Raids were not guaranteed to succeed, even moreso in NOL and NOTG because you'd get matched with very low level players who are not yet ready to contribute to the raids properly. This new server system adds yet another layer of RNG to pfinder queues, as you will now also get a randomly chosen proxy.

Given that I do not have any actual solution to provide for this issue, I wanted to use this post as a platform to discuss about the new server changes under the context of pfindering in Raids. What do you guys think? Is this a necessary sacrifice for proxy specific servers?

honestly speaking its not like you weren't used to it at the moment lol, but due to the timezone difference, we strongly believe that you would be matched accordingly since when most EU people are active NA people are sleeping

we need more data to see but as I said in the FAQ, we will change the approach as we see if it is needed

only thing i wish for is for parties with any non-eu non-us players to be put in na servers, since thats where connection is less bad for everyone (in my experience with aus/asia/sa friends in games). all of a sudden having to deal with even worse ping sucks

I tried to ask if this would be an issue a few days ago but didn't get a concrete answer. The guild I'm a part of is mostly split between US and EU players, so this might cause us issues if half the party is having significantly worse ping issues than before so that the other half can have slightly better ping with each other. Potentially at random.

this extra layer of RNG to pfinder queues is the last thing pfinder needs, especially when this RNG factor can change the playability of the game at complete random

im really not sure how this could be handled, especially if more proxies are brought into the mix. filtering out players in queues by proxies will remove a massive part of the MMO aspect and also make raids take WAY longer to queue in pfinder, graids would essentially be the only reliable way to get raids dine

I suggested to zeer maybe the matchmaker should prefer to match people in the same region but slowly expand its tolerance if queuing is taking ages

with how pfinder works (and how small the community is as a whole), filtering out pfinder queuers will make already minute-long queue turn into Overwatch 2 high elo queue timers

yeah, stuff like this limiting the playability of raids in pfinder queues should definitely be compensated with systems that increase the playability of pre-made parties

people will be avoiding pfinder a lot more the more these servers expand

and this is just one proxy out of like 2 or 3 other reasonable ones that might exist in the future

each one will make pfinder progressively more random and thus less playable for the average player because it will be laggy such a significant portion of the time

in content where players are meant to work together and play under the assumption that they can work as a team, having random players be randomly hindered by lag in random intervals really removes a lot of the integrity that raid parties have

generally speaking, i do believe that it is more worthwhile to have these servers, but as someone who semi-frequently pfinder queues when raiding, it does make me a little uneasy

i think one of the better remedies is, as mentioned earlier, adding more functionality to raid queuing in 4 person parties, with things like graid raiding outside of everyone being in the same guild (alliance system stuff prob)

because if people are not gonna pfinder as much, it might as well be more worthwhile to raid with your friends in premade parties

ita not just "lol na players have been spoiled with good ping so lomg a couple ms delay rots their brains" the issue is that if you queue pfinder you will be playing the most mechanically intensive content in the game with highly variable input delay, bouncing between like 50-250 on a whim and that really fucks with people on stuff like watched
