I honestly like the most of the new skins
I wonder why that is, it certainly is a puzzler
the only thing I like better is the dern dagger
There are some that are not good, but give the RP team time to cook
nostalgia + people taking the outliers and applying them to all the cosmetics really
lotta of the mode updates are good and serve as less lag
BUT there are still bad ones like blizzard set
doesnt mean tho all of it its bad i just have seen that extreme to often rn
most are bad, frosty sword and all the other dern stuff and corrupted stuff

the dynasty hat is just the one I use the most so it's the first one I saw
i would disagree, take viking helmet, its actually reconizable now
ivy horns and bounty hutner hat still look as good and is optimzized now

Imo dern colour scheme is worse. It's more fitting(sorta) but its a lot less clean
the only ones i think look worse are the frosty ones

i don't think any of the new ones are bad but some of the frosty do look like an epic reward more than blackmarket now 😭

The thing that seperates lower tier to higher tier skins I think is either just a theme thats really high quality and good looking(rainbow and gold of the.. uh.seraphim skins)
Or something that offers a more unique shape theme. The new dernic skins feel too simmiliar in structure to the currently existing epic and rare weapons, That alongside a lackluster colour scheme that doesn't entirely fit nor looks special makes it look like a rare cosmetic.
Theres my reasoning
(the main color of dernic is purple though. green was... a now unexplainable old choice)
all the dernic skins apart from relik look like standard weapon template but purple and blue
I don't think the quality of how good looking/worthy of being godly something is is their lore accuracy(i agree with the point, I dont think its mega relevant)

Im not comparing it to old. They both dont fit, old fits less but new doesnt fit entirely either.
at any rate the new cosmetics also come with some silliness where mobs that relied on old skins and their colors now tend to look a little funny...
Also that, I do think thats a big thing to consider
thats why I think it would of been better(and should be) to have the skins retain the look of the old ones. Maybe except for dernic but you'd need to go through the game and fix all of the mobs that use it

they are they are just limited by the standard style now, which makes them look... cleaner which comes into the path of the extreme high res of old voxel
Yeah thats a part of it(and part of why a lot of them look more standardised)
the dernic ones just look like the futuristic set. If they were changing them up completely making them each have some interesting dernic related idea would be cool

a few of them feel oversimplified compared to the originals, even though we know we have the capabilities to replicate the design more closely

the dernic bow for example: the pokey curved bits in the original have been turned into flat textures. this is fine and all, but we have seen from the antlers as well as other bow designs that we are perfectly capable of making 3d pointy curved bits. so why does this bow use flat textures for them?
similarly the frost bow has angled spikes that are completely absent from the new design

the use of flat textures for the spikes is baffling to me
its a stylistic choice

the dernic set was basically completely redone from the ground up because the original version didnt really make sense
they retain the same shape i guess
if they are retaining the same shape then i still do not understand the use of 2d textures for the curly bits
its more performant and works better with the art style
the art style of wynn or the art style that the artist decided to use for this bow in particular?
i do not see why performance is suddenly such a big concern for these weapons when other weapons have way more voxels

so the art style for this bow in particular uses flat sections for the curved parts. is there any reason why? have they been changed from spikes to tassles or smth?
if they are still intended to be the same bow shape as the original (as the rest of the design highly suggests), i dont see why we would not choose the more accurate representation of making them 3d
tna has 2d spikes on its back. does that make them tassles?
spikes dont have to be particularly thick either
see the difference is those spikes are large so the shape comes across clearly
these spikes are literally a 4 pixel zigzag. its clearly struggling to represent the taper because there are no pixels left to reduce in size
do you guys have some sort of rarity based voxel cap or smth
like dont get me wrong i think the model changes are necessary, but your defensiveness about this is really odd
if its a system limitation just tell us its a system limitation. if its some hidden rule like limiting voxels based on rarity, just tell us that. if it truly is a design decision, at least explain it to us in a way that makes sense
this isnt like new textures where you can just shrug it off and say we should just deal with it. this is an existing cosmetic, which means there are people who paid real money to get it. if you are changing the cosmetic to a new appearance, the least they deserve is an explanation why parts of the new design look the way they do
Because it doesnt fit wynns style, the models arent that good and theyre really laggy

the reason probably is the original modeller who did the previousmodels was much more able to easily do curved 3d shapes well but pr sure they're not working on wynn anymore
