hi guys this is gay underscore marshmallow and this is my awesome wynncraft theory

so you know a bunch of names in wynncraft are anagrams of devs or themes?
what if lari... is a liar? what if everything she's done was purely to trick you and orphion?

surely orphion would not have chosen lari if she had not been willing to make the right choice in the initial test that was given to her, and she would not have made the right choice if the "morals" that she claimed to have existed in the first place

her supposed insistence to never kill resulted in the decay spreading throughout western gavel, and damaged the deity she was chosen to protect. this likely eroded orphion's trust in any sentient being that had the capability to develop morals of that intensity, resulting in his long wait to choose the player, a hero with no past and therefore no strong sense of morality.

it could be possible that this was lari's intent all along. after bak'al interrupts your expedition to the nexus of light, he fights with lari and likely takes her to dern. why would he do this knowing the extent of lari's power, instead of killing her on the spot? it's highly likely she would never cave into giving the dark side any help or information either.

unless, lari was working for dern all this time. she presents herself as a worthy protector of the light, then purposely fumbles it to let the decay in and make it difficult for orphion to trust anyone, using pacifism as a facade and appearing to fight bak'al at the end to be taken back to base with no suspicion.

one might question this proposition on the terms that lari's actions and emotions seemed genuine, even in the flashbacks, but it has to be kept in mind that orphion was always watching over her. it would have been extremely exhausting for lari to keep up such an act for thousands of years on end, but chances are it was necessary in order for her to avoid anyone figuring her out.

although she aids you in the quest to save orphion, this is likely another facet of the plan. the damage to gavel had already been done. it could be possible that later in the story, the player's obligation to "save" lari from dern could be used as a trap of her own, to put an end to the sole chosen of orphion.
